VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY SHUTS DOWN, USUALLY WHILE SLOWING DOWN AT INTERSECTION. HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE WEEKLY. STARTS IMMEDIATLY AFTER COASTING TO STOP. RUNS FLAWLESSLY AT ALL OTHER TIMES.*AK

WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY A CHILD SMELLED GAS. SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM UNDER NEATH DASHBOARD, AND THEN FLAMES, JEEP BURSTED INTO FLAMES BEFORE CONSUMER COULD ACTUALLY PULL OVER. DRIVER'S LEG WAS BURNED WHILE TRYING TO EXIT, ALSO ANOTHER DRIVER NOTICED FLAMES FROM UNDER JEEP.*AK *JB
WHEN STARTING UP VEHICLE WIRES IN THE DASHBOARD CAUGHT ON FIRE, AND CONSUMER HAD TO EVALUATE THE VEHICLE. CAUSE UNKNOWN.*AK
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING THE HEADLINER WAS SMOKING. AND THE LIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON. THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.*JB
WHEN TURNING THE CORNER AT 25 MPH CONSUMER LOST CONTROL AND HIT A TREE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. CONSUMER BACKED UP AND STARTED DRIVING WHEN VEHICLE STARTED TO SMOKE. CONSUMER GOT OUT AND VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. CONSUMER FEELS THIS WAS VERY UNSAFE.*AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINS THAT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THE WIRE LINE CONNECTOR IS SHORTING OUT FROM GETTING WET, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF FRONT PARKING LIGHTS, AND DRIVING LIGHTS, CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY SERVICE TECHNICIAN THAT IT WAS DUE TO A BAD ENGINEERING DESIGN. *JG
CONSUMER COMPLAINS THAT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THE WIRE LINE CONNECTOR IS SHORTING OUT FROM GETTING WET, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF FRONT PARKING LIGHTS, AND DRIVING LIGHTS, CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY SERVICE TECHNICIAN THAT IT WAS DUE TO A BAD ENGINEERING DESIGN. *JG
WIRING HARNESS UNDER DASH HAS CORRODED, CAUSING WIRES TO MELT. DEALER IS INSPECTING VEHICLE.*AK
THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR. SWITCH ASSEMBLY ACTUALLY CAUGHT FIRE. TALKED TO SEVERAL JEEP TECHNICIANS-THIS IS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE. CONFIRMED WITH AUTO SALVAGE YARDS THAT THIS PART IS REGULARLY PURCHASED AS REPLACEMENT FOR MELTED CONNECTORS. JEEP TECHNICIANS CONFIRM THIS IS THE SAME PART ON ALL 1987-1996 JEEP CHEROKEES. I HAVE IN MY POSSESSION 2 CONNECTORS SHOWING FIRE/MELTING DAMAGE. THIS IS SERIOUS ENOUGH THAT I THINK YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO IT.

WHILE REPLACING THE BULB FOR THE CENTER BRAKE LIGHT, I NOTICED THE PLASTIC HOUSING WAS MELTED, AND IN SOME SPOTS, CHARRED. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD.
CHRYSLER SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIRS SINCE THESE FREQUENT PROBLEMS ARE ALL DUE TO POOR DESIGN.
I HAVE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I ONLY PUT 10K MILES ON IT. THEY ARE A/C, ELECTRICAL, ENGINE, WATER PUMP, AND IAM GOING BACK IN BECAUSE FRONT END IS MAKING NOISE. ILL BE BACK TO YOU FOLKS AGAIN
WIRING HARNESS IN DRIVER'S DOOR AND WINDOWS MAIN ELECTRONIC UNIT WHICH CONTROLS ALL DOOR LOCKS AND POWER WINDOWS MALFUNCTIONED. COMMON PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
DESIGN LOCATION OF WIRING RESULTED IN SHORTING OUT AND BURNING CARPET AND HOLE IN THE FRAME OF VEHICLE, WIRES LOCATED UNDER CARPET UNDER DRIVER'S FOOT NEAR ACCELERATOR PEDAL.
DRIVER SIDE ELECTRICAL HARNESS ON FOOTWELL USED TO POWER WINDOWS ANS LOCKS BURNED. THIS HARNESS ELECTRICAL SHIELDING HAND WORN AND BARE WIRES WERE SHORTING TO THE CHASSIS OF THE VEHICLE. TWO FUSES WERE BLOWN AND THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS BURNT. ALL WIRES IN THE HARNESS WERE BURNT TO ASHES.
ROUTING OF WIRING HARNESS UNDER WHERE LEFT FOOT RESTS CAUSED INSULATION TO BE WORN AWAY, SHORTING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM/CAUSING FIRE. *DH
WHEN PULLING INTO DRIVE WAY NOTICED STEAM COMING FROM ENGINE, POPPED HOOD FOUND ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON FIRE, FIRE DEPT. SUSPECT ELECTRICAL SHORT. TT
HORN BUTTON LOOSE/RATTLES.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HINGES NOT WELD,CAN START CAR WITH OUT USING THE CLUTCH AND THE HORN OUT SIDE THE CAR NOT WORKING LOWER SIDE. TT
HORN IS NOT LOUD ENOUGH. *AK
