THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE ABS UNIT MODULAR NEEDED REPLACEMENT DUE TO A FAULTY SOLENOID SWITCH. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB

CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALER IN REFERENCE TO RECALL 00V136000/ MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 879. CONSUMER BELIEVED DEALER DID NOT REPLACE ROTORS. *AK THE CALIPER WAS LOOSE AND APPEARED TO BE JUST SITTING ON THE TIRE WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS EXAMINING THE VEHICLE FOR RUBBING NOISE. THE RIM WAS ALSO STUCK TO THE ROTOR AND REMOVING THE TIRE WAS EXTREMELY HARD. FROM THESE OBSERVATIONS, THE CONSUMER CONCLUDED THAT THE DEALER HAD NOT DONE THE RECALL JOB ON BRAKE ROTORS. *YH
PRIOR TO RECALL NOTIFICATION, CONSUMER HAD 2 FRONT ROTORS REPLACED, AND WAS ADVISED IT WAS DUE TO CORROSION, AS WELL AS FRONT PADS REPLACED, CONSUMER WAS DENIED REIMBURSEMENT FROM MANUFACTURER, STATING THAT ROTORS DID NOT SHOW SEPARATION OF THE ROTOR FROM THE HUB, DUE TO CORROSION. *JB

ACCIDENT ON 11-08-2000 WET SURFACE, UPON APPLY ABS BRAKES THE VECHILE SLED INTO INTERSECTION STRIKING A GRAVEL TRUCK SUFFERING APPROX. $ 9,000 IN DAMAGE JEEP WAS STRUCK ON THE LEFT FRONT AND TOOK THE ENTIRE FRONT CLIP OFF, BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AT WHAT SPEED ARE THE BAGS SUPPOSE TO DEPLOY, AND IS THIS A FACTORY DEFECT?*AK
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 45 MPH JEEP SWERVED TO THE OTHER LANE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, CONSUMER YANKED STEERING BACK TO CORRECT LANE, CONSUMER TRIED TO STOP, AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. CONSUMER HAD TO COAST UNTIL VEHICLE STOPPED ON ITS OWN. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC, AND HE PULLED OFF FRONT WHEELS AND NOTICED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE CRACKED. CONSUMER WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL 00V136000 ON HYDRALIC BRAKE ROTOR AND DISC. *AK

CONSUMER WAS MAKING A U TURN INTO AN INTERSECTION TO GO ON TO THE OTHER SIDE IN ORDER TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC WHILE IT WAS RAINING. CONSUMER HIT THE CURB. UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AND SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED. *AK
ROTORS HAVE WARPED 4 TIMES IN 48,000 MILES WITH REGULAR DRIVING. WARPED ROTORS CAUSE SEVERE SHAKING IN FRONT END AND DIFFICULTY IN HANDLING. DEALERSHIP/MANUFACURER HAVE REPLACED THREE TIMES BUT HAVE NOT ACKNOWLEDGED A PROBLEM WITH THE PART OR THAT SOMETHING ELSE MAY BE CAUSING THE WARPING. DEALERSHIP BLAMES IN-TOWN DRIVING FOR THE PROBLEM. *AK
AFTER VEHICLE IS PARKED IN RAINY WEATHER, THE BRAKES ARE EXTREMELY "GRABBY". DURING A MODERATE EFFORT STOP, THE BRAKES LOCKED AND VEHICLE WENT INTO A SKID (LOCKED TIRES). THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE NEW. HAD DEALER LOOK AT THIS PROBLEM WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. BRAKES BECOME LESS GRABBY IF BRAKES ARE APPLIED MOMENTARILY WHILE DRIVING (THROTTLE AND BRAKE APPLIED AT SAME TIME) FOR 5 TO 10 SECONDS. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A CORROSION BUILD UP THAT IS WORN AWAY AFTER BRAKES ARE APPLIED SEVERAL TIMES. A PANIC STOP UNDER GRABBY CONDITIONS WOULD ALMOST CERTAINLY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT!

ON-GOING / INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE BRAKE SYSTEM; WHENEVER BRAKES WERE APPLIED ON WET OR ROUGH SURFACE ROAD, IT CAUSED WHEELS TO LOCK UP AND FISHTAIL. THIS RESULTED IN VEHICLE BEING OUT OF CONTROL, BOUNCE OFF GURDRAIL AND SPIN BEFORE STOPPIN. NO INJURIES REPORTED. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED BY DEALER . *AK
BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WHICH MAY RESULT IN A CRASH. ALSO PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL SENDEING UNIT WHICH WON'T READ THE FUEL GAUGE PROPERLY. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
IN LESS THAN 36,000 MILES THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED (4) TIMES FOR WARPAGE OF FRONT BRAKE ROTORS. ROTORS REPLACED COMPLETELY (1) TIME. DEALER CLAIMED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. I CONTACTED (2) INDEPENDENT BRAKE SPECIALISTS AND EACH INDICATED EXCESSIVE HEAT WAS CAUSING PREMATURE WARPAGE. THEY SUGGESTED IT BE RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR CORRECTIVE ACTION. I STOPPED A CAR WASH TO HAND WASH THE VEHICLE AND UPON SPRAYING THE FRONT WHEELS NOTICE STEAM COMING OFF THE WHEEL. THIS INDICATES SUBSTANTIAL OVER EXCESSIVE HEAT. THE DEALER CLAIMED THIS WAS NORMAL AND TURNING OF ROTORS AND REPLACING PADS (NON WARRANTY) WAS THE ONLY ANSWER. IN MY OPINION THIS ONLY CORRECTS THE SYMPTOMS AND DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. CHEAP, INFERIOR COMPONENTRY IS MY OPINION. I SHALL NOT BY ANOTHER JEEP OR CHRYSLER PRODUCT.

PLAN TO CONTACT DEALER, BUT DOUBT DEALER WILL CORRECT WITHOUT COST DUE TO MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY ON BRAKES IS ONLY FOR 12K. LOOK AT YOUR LIST OF COMPLAINTS. THIS APPEARS TO BE REOCCURRING PROBLEM. *AK
BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS HAVE TO BE REPLACED AFTER EVERY 500 TO 1000 MILES. THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED ABOUT 10 TIMES. THE BRAKE FEEL LIKE THEY'RE ACTIVATED EVEN WHEN THEY'RE NOT APPLIED. *AK

ABOUT A MONTH LATER, DRIVER WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHEN GOING UPHILL AND APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE WHEELS LOCKED UP, DRIVER HAD NO CONTROL OVER CHEROKEE. JEEP WENT OVER TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD, HITTING A TELEPHONE POLE. THIS HAPPENED ON DRY ROAD CONDITIONS. DEALER WOULD NOT LOOK AT JEEP. JEEP HAS BEEN REPAIRED. *AK

WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL ABOUT 15 MPH, WITH FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL MORE COMING TO A STOP SIGN, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WAS NO BREAKING ABILITY AT ALL. CONSUMER MADE A SHARP RIGHT TURN AND VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER. THE VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *AK
