I was at a stop took my foot off the break to put it on the gas and we started to move and all of a sudden my emergency brake came on and stopped my car and I could not get it to go and I was in traffic no warning lights nothing it just came on by itself
Service AWD and Service Parking Brake warnings are present on the dashboard. The problem lies in a bad PTU (Power Transfer Unit) and the DTCM that controls it. Part is not available for purchase and currently back ordered nationwide indefinitely. The cost of the part and labor combined approaches to 80% of the residual value of the vehicle at 118,000 miles.
Electronic parking brake engages at random. Gauge info shows “P” with a circle warning, as well as “brake” in red. Says “4wd system unavailable”. Parking brake module has water/corrosion at connection terminal. Parking brake switch by gear shifter flashing constantly. Car will drive fine then will not move when attempting to go later, had to leave on side of road until it could be towed recently. Extremely frustrating and upsetting. This needs recalled as dealership says it costs $1000’s and requires reprogramming. Now left with a Jeep I can not drive and can not afford to fix.
Rear tires locked up in reverse. While in gear they lock up randomly. Car shut off and broke down while driving on expressway and lost control. No accident but could’ve been bad. 4x4 light on says svc. Mechanic says shows signs of new safety recall 02C? Talked to Jeep dealership and they weren’t aware of such recall on this model. Need help on who to contact and what to do.
The electronic parking brake locked up at an intersection - only way I could get it going again was disconnect and reconnect the battery. Took to dealer and was diagnosed as the parking brake module. Dealer wanted $1900 to repair but the part was on back order for an unknown time. Removed all fuses linked to parking brake and was told to drive it - only has front wheel drive as computer thinks parking brake is on - jeep has told us that water leaks into to them and shorts them out. Not impressed as times are tough and not getting any help from Jeep. Why is there not a recall as this seems like a infection with this model?
Electronic parking brake module failed and locked up the brakes while in motion in the parking lot, inspected the rear hatch and it is soaked. The epb module was soaked and corroded along with whatever modules are in there.
My service park brake lights came on, and I had issues where my parking brake tried to engage when I was driving a couple of times. Then when I tried to drive it to a mechanic it completely locked up and I couldn’t drive it. It turns out that my spare tire well was flooded due to a known leak issue, which there is an open recall for that/a power lift module. But due to this leak, the blood water in my tire well ran down onto my parking, brake, computer, module and connector, which made it corroded and shorted it out. My mechanic advised me to take it to the dealership and talk to Chrysler to get it fixed since the lake is a known issue and this is consequential damage due to this issue, but they said since my car is out of warranty there’s nothing they could do for me but have me pay for it out of pocket. Concerning considering this is a major safety issue.
Water intrusion into electronic parking brake module caused a failure which caused the parking brake to set which would not allow the vehicle to move and parking brake could not be released. This vehicle has already been to the dealer for a safety recall for the power lift gate module located in the SAME area as the parking brake module and for the same reason water intrusion which could cause potential fires. Dealer would not warranty the parking brake module as if this is the same problem as the power lift gate module located right next to each other. There are numerous threads on the internet from other Cherokee owners with the same issue.
This is a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, this model DOES have a recall for water leaking in through the truck. That causes the electronic parking break module to short out and lock the parking brake in as engaged. My jeeps vin however is not a part of the recall for some reason, this part was replaced on 4/16/22. Today 3/9/2023 the parking brake engaged and was locked on when we put the car in park. The spare tire compartment is FULL of water, everything in the trunk was wet. And the piece from the service advisor that was replace in 2022 has water in it, and it is corroded.
Parking brake engaged while reversing out of driveway. "Service Parking Brake" message on dash and Parking brake lights on dash. Parking brake flashing amber LED lights. Parking brake not working. This is for a 2015 Jeep Cherokee, an investigation was opened and closed. Unsure of the outcome. Concerned though as I had a water leakage into the lift gate power module causing a small fire. That was repaired/replaced with recall in 2024. Now the same issue is happening with my power breaks. I feel like this should be covered under recall.
Forbthe past gew months my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude had been in and out of the shop. The ebrake will set itself and not disengage. I think they have replaced everything remotely associated with the ebrake. I picked it up AGAIN yesterday afternoon, drive 3 minutes down the road, pulled into a parking space, put in park, and the ebrake came om before I even shut the vehicle off. It will not disengage. I am currently sitting beside the vehicle, waitin for the service tech to call me back yet again. I have quite literally lost count of how many times rhis vehicle has been in the shop since I got it a year and a half ago.
My parking gage engaged several times while parked I saw that it said the parking breaking was engaged but I had not put it on. Next it engaged when stopped for a traffic light. I was able to restart it several times. Noticed that this was most likely to happen after a rainfall. Last time it happened my son was able to trick it into disengaging and get it home. Next day it had to be flatbed towed to my mechanic. He changed the parking break switch and that burned out again. After careful investigation he found over two gallons of water under the spare tire where the parking break module is housed. It had to be replaced as well as both calipers. The module also had to be reprogrammed. It was at there 22 days. The mechanic bill was nearly $1,800. Now I need extensive body work to perhaps stop the water coming in thru the seams underneath the power-lift door which had opened. In checking previous complaints it seems that This should have been a recall long ago as it has happened to other similar jeeps.
There is a water intrusion on the vehicle that causes water to find its way to the electronic parking/emergency brake Module and causing it to corrode. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they have confirmed this. The safety of myself or other motorists on the road may be at risk if the vehicle gets a reading from the corroded module and sets the parking brake while the vehicle is in motion. I had a service parking brake light appear but the code reads as the parking brake switch needs to be replaced replaced the switch at the front and that did not remedy the issue.
Parking brake turned on by itself and would not disengage. I finally got it to work again and then while driving it did it. Prior to this I was getting a warning about my rear lift gate. I have tried everything to fix it and it does not seem to respond. I have researched this and it seems to be a big problem. Please have Jeep issue a recall.
Bought a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, while driving the vehicle one day it started braking while accelerating causing it to jerk the vehicle and had to pull over causing the car to completely shut off. I took it to a dealership to get two recalls fixed on it that I found out about and after getting the vehicle back from the dealership and driving it there has been poor acceleration, harsh shifting gears. I was getting a lug nut replaced on my tire at a dealership. I was about to leave with my vehicle and it wouldn’t get out of the parking brake. Then the Service parking brake light comes on the far. I have to get them to look at it again and they find water damage to the Parking Brake Module due to a leak from somewhere. Having to wait on estimates on what it will cost to fix it. Looked into this issue and find out that others have dealt with this as well. With water leakage in the back trunk space and into the Parking Brake Module!! Definitely needs to be a recall on this type of major road safety hazard. Luckily I wasn’t driving when this happened or it could’ve caused a wreck. There is a class action lawsuit I was reading about again Jeep for 2014-2020 models due to water damage to parking brake module and I believe there needs to be a recall on this defect from factory.
3 times now my car has engaged it's own parking brake and I haven't been able to disengage it. The first and last time it engaged itself in a parking lot after I started my car. The first time I had it towed and the issue had resolved itself before the dealer had a chance to look and since they could not duplicate the issue they let it go. The second time I had it towed to my local mechanic who had to physically disconnect it and reconnect it to get it to disengage. The second time it happened while I was stopped at a stop sign. This third time it engaged at my sons parking school after I started the car. I had it towed to my local mechanic, he disconnected and reconnected and it keeps instantly re-engaging. This is an on-going issue and clearly if it engages itself while running (happened once) is a major safety concern.
Electronic parking brake came on when I started the vehicle and will not disengage, so the vehicle is stuck in a parking lot.
The service parking brake warning pops up on start up (P)!, along with the engine light and the traction control light. A warning that says service parking brake appears, around with a service transmission warning, and occasionally another message saying 4wd unavailable at the moment. Another message says restart car in park at zero speed, which the car is already in park & not moving. The car is not drivable when all of these are on. If I attempt to change gears, the gear light flashes & when the car shifts gears it is very loud. It is also hard to turn the wheel. The emergency park has also come on, in it's own, while driving. Almost killed me on the highway. Had also done it in my driveway, when starting to pull out. Also when the engine auto shifts, it makes like a whining noise. The engine sounds to go in overdrive whenever going down hills or up hills. Down is worse though. This has been doing this since I got the car in 2021. I expressed these issues to the place I bought the car from, just days after buying it, and they refused to fix anything even though it was under the 30 day warranty. They claimed no issues. I have proof of mentioning these issues, to the person who sold me the car through the dealership.
I was in reverse backing out of my parking spot and the emergency parking brake activated by itself. My car immediately stopped and I was not able to move it forward or backwards. The brake warning lamp illuminated and a "service parking brake" showed up on my screen where the speedometer is. I was just grateful it didn't happen in the middle of the interstate or turning onto a major roadway. I was still freaked out this could happen. My car is still stuck where it went out. I've tried everything I can think of to deactivate the parking brake but nothing is working. This is so unsafe!!!
This morning, on the way to work, the electric parking brake module of my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk activated when the vehicle was in motion, making it impossible to accelerate or reverse. If I had been driving on the highway or interstate, this could have been fatal. The tech who towed my car said this is a known issue, and his sister even traded in her Cherokee because of this issue. There has recently been rain in the area, and it is a known issue among 2014-2020 Jeep Cherokee owners that the emergency parking brake module corrodes due to rainfall. The tech confirmed that my electric parking module is corroded. This issue has been confirmed by the repair center, which is charging $1,300 for a repair. I have reached out to Mopar, the manufacturer, to complain. This is a widespread, known-issue among Jeep owners, and there's currently a class action lawsuit against Jeep regarding this issue. There were no warning signs before the parking break activated. This needs to be a Jeep Cherokee recall.
Vehicle parking brake automatically engages when vehicle placed in park and will not disengage. Brake lights are displayed as well as service parking brake message. Cruise control is also affected. Took vehicle to dealer and was told it was the brake switch. Ordered new brake switch and installed with no change. After reading service bulletin NUMBER: 08-060-16 titled “Electronic Parking Brake Module Connector Water Intrusion” I inspected the EPB module and found it to be corroded and partially full of water. Vehicle is not under warranty and this appears to be a very common and expensive problem that owners should not be responsible for. There is also potential of fire and of emergency brake engaging while driving that makes it extremely dangerous.
Electronic E Brake engaged while driving. Will not disengage. Requires towing. E brake will not disengage.
The emergency control module and wire harness got corroded from water. The brakes engaged and had to be towed to the dealership. Was informed at that time about the parts being corroded and needed to be replaced.
When I parked, it was fine, no brake problem. The next morning, I pulled out, got 10 feet & realized there was a problem. I saw the parking brake was mysteriously on and hasn't been off since. I've tried the release and resetting the parking brake for service, but the (P) parking brake light is orange, the regular brake light is flashing red, and there's a message that my 4wd is non-functional. I was lucky to get off the street.
1* The electric Emergency Brake. 2* The E brake engages while I am driving and causes the car to abruptly stop almost causing the car behind me to rear end my car. 3* No, it just started, it happened 2 times yesterday 5/1/24. 4* No 5* Not that I am aware of.
2nd time, I did not put auto brake on but it engaged itself and than was stuck and would not disengage. Luckily I was not in traffic, because that could have been a serious safety issue. The e brake engages on its own and than won’t dislodge. Multiple times this has happened now. Took it in once and paid almost $1500 to get it repaired, 3 days later same thing happened again!
My vehicle dashboard gave me a "service park brake" message. The emergency brake would automatically engage if attempting to shift the car into park. The emergency brake could not be disengaged. The vehicle was towed to a Jeep dealership. The dealership has determined that the "park brake module connector" and surrounding wires have corroded due to water intrusion. They told me the car is considered unsafe as if it were to be driven the e-brake could engage at any moment. They also determined there is water leaking into that area of the car i.e. the rear left cargo area where the brake module sits. My online research has determined this is a common issue, and Jeep has not had a recall or notices about it. The water leaking could come from the sun/moon roof or the wheel well. Please visit this link and others like it to see that many people are having this issue with no long-term solution per the manufacturer. Some people have reported multiple failures of the park brake module on the same vehicle with the repair costing $1k+ each time. While driving on a low-speed, local road, the Electronic Parking Brake came on which forced me to quickly pull over. The car then displayed a "Service Parking Brake" warning. I brought the car to my local garage and they found that the Parking Control Module and Connector were damaged by corrosion. They needed to replace the module and connector. This could have been a serious safety issue.
I honestly have no idea what system failed but I was doing 80 on the interstate and my car shifted into nuetral . All of the lights came on parking brake , brake and then my car would not drive any longer , luckily I was able to coast onto the shoulder but I literally could have been killed. I had just passed road construction that went from 4 lanes to 2 barracaded lanes. i waited 30 minutes and my car restarted like nothing . So I thought maybe it was a glitch until I was driving again and it did it again. I had to keep putting my car in park and then shifting it back to drive . It has not been inspected yet as i'm trying to get it to the dealership without it cutting off .
An unwanted activation of the emergency brake. When the car is parked or turned off and after turning on the vehicle - the service park brake turns on. After some time, the vehicle stalled and had to be towed to the dealership. Issues appear to be linked to a water leak within the vehicle’s engine block short-circuiting the electronic brake module. The leak damages the electronic brake module, and when the driver attempts to start the vehicle or shift into drive, it permanently shorts out. The vehicle is unable to move.
At TD bank leaving ATM parking brake engaged and would not disengage until i started and restarted the Jeep and keep going drive to reverse. Took about 20xs! That evening leaving yard after about 20 feet keep locked up, parking brake engaged, again. Took about 15mins to get it to disengage by starting and restarting, drive, n, reverse. Next morning it locked as soon as I hit the gas, and was left at house as it sat. I live off a highway, I'm going to die driving it.
Service transmission light came on while driving. I had a warranty on the vehicle so I took it in to dealership in DeQueen AR they fixed the valve body on the transmission and almost exactly 1 year later the service transmission light came on again. Following that my service parking brake light came on and now the emergency brake is engaged and will not disengage. Why has there not been a recall on these items?
The emergency park brake function is stuck on and can not be released. The car will not move and the emergency brake will not release.
replaced the oil filter housing unit and filter cap because of oil leak, for the last couple of months, it’s been feeling very rough switching gears, especially when turning from a stop, and now it won’t start, at all. We tried jumping it and let it sit for a little bit and nothing changed. It’s not ticking or trying to start or anything, just the dash lights up with all the lights and the brake pedal is locked, it won’t move at all
1st Repair Attempt: On April 2, 2021, 14 days after I purchased the vehicle (Purchase date: 3/18/2021), I received multiple error messages stating "Service Electronic Parking Break" "Service Anti Lock Breaking System" "Service Park Brake" "MIL" light was blinking "CEL" light was on as well and my vehicle would not accelerate. I was on a high traffic interstate and could not move the vehicle to exit to the shoulder. The dealer stated that my PCM/TCM needed to be "flashed" and my ABS Module needed to be replaced due to a CSN W20, W84 and W80 code. The part to replace the ABS Module was not in stock and my vehicle remained with the dealership until April 16, 2021 (a total of 15 days) 2nd Repair Attempt: On May 21, 2021, 35 days after the repair attempt, for the 2nd time I received multiple error messages stating "Service Electronic Parking Break" "Service Anti Lock Breaking System" "Service Park Brake" "MIL" light was blinking "CEL" light was on as well and my vehicle would not accelerate. My children were in the car when this happened. The dealer once again, for the 2nd time, had to order an ABS Module as well as reprogrammed according to all manufacturer recommendations (PCM/TCM/DTCM, etc) and my vehicle remained at the dealership until June 1, 2021 (a total of 12 days) 3rd Repair Attempt: On October 6, 2022, for the 3rd time I received multiple error messages stating "Service Electronic Parking Break" "Service Anti Lock Breaking System" "Service Park Brake" "MIL" light was blinking "CEL" light was on as well and my vehicle would not accelerate. I was in the middle of a busy interstate when this happened. my vehicle remained at the manufacturer approved dealership in repair until October 27, 2022 ( a total of 21 days) All receipts, invoices and services completed to attempt repair are documented and can be provided upon request. Most recently, August 10, 2023, all of the same error messages and issues above are occurring and I am unable to move my vehicle.
I received a warning to service my park brake. At that time it immediately started setting my park brake and I was unable to release it. After much fooling around with it I got it to release and took it to the dealership. They said the park brake module was wet and corroded and suggested I left my windows down. Well I never open my windows. They said the part was not available and probably wouldn’t be for months. The blew out and cleaned the module. I had no problems for a year and a half (I also never set my park brake for fear it wouldn’t release) but it started setting itself again so I called the dealership and was again told they didn’t have the part and couldn’t tell me when they would. I have also had so many other issues with this vehicle. One being a transmission issue that happened before a recall for it so I fixed the problem and paid for it. When the recall came out I was only reimbursed for half of what I paid. I’m literally afraid to drive my car for fear of something goring horribly wrong while driving it.
The Emergency Parking Brake engages on its own, and the car can not move forward. The car engine fails and stalls, the vehicle can not be shifted, and I have a loss of steering control. Dash reads error of parking brake needs service, power steering is out, and check engine light comes on. The car won't restart for approximately 1 hour and then turns over and starts. This problem happens intermittently with no warning. It has happened both when parked and moving. I have had the vehicle in at a Jeep dealership but they were unable to diagnosis. It appears to be part of the same case number
While coming to stop at a red light, service parking brake message along with audible ding appeared on the message center. The light on the parking break switch was flashing. Brake light was illuminated along with parking brake light. I arrived at my destination shortly after and attempted to engage the parking brake. Nothing happened. I moved up a few spaces in line at a coffee shop and came to a stop. The parking brake engaged and I was unable to move the vehicle. I turned the car off, put my seatbelt on, put the car in drive and slowly moved forward. The parking break disengaged and I was able to get home. At home I followed the procedure to reset the parking brake. The brake reset along with all lights, brake and parking brake light, and was ok until the next day. Vehicle was parked overnight. Next day tried moving car but Parking brake engaged and I was unable to disengage. Service parking brake message illuminated as well as brake and parking brake light. I read online about water entering the control module and attempted to locate and remove it. See attached photo. The module and wiring harness had a small amount of water inside as well as signs of the water having been there a while.
I have repeatedly been driving down the road then the jeep will instantly kick it out of gear while driving completely loses power so I have to pull over so I don’t get ran over and today. My electronic parking brake went out a second time in under a year because of the corrosion, every time it is kicked my transmission out of gear was a narrow escape from a wreck I reported this before but you don’t seem to care so I will be buying a cheap video recorder system and the first time I catch it on video. I will be filing a lawsuit against Jeep and your company for not even looking into it which I referred you to do
The emergency park brake engages by itself when the vehicle starts and it does not want to disengage. The system is engaging on it's own.
Water ingress into electronic parking brake module caused brake to lock and render vehicle immobile. Also caused battery drain and electrical issues due to shorting out.
I parked my vehicle in my driveway without turning on the e-parking brake (it is in manual mode). In the morning when I got into the vehicle and put the car into reverse the e-park brake engaged and would not disengage. This was followed by a “service parking brake” message on the dash. I had to have the car towed to a mechanic who found water in the EPB module which was causing the issue. The water seemed to be coming in from some seams in the roof and running directly onto the module. The replacement of the module was very expensive and the car was inoperable for over 1 week.
I get error messages that say stop to shift. My car is an automatic, brake comes on when I haven’t touched it, it won’t drive sometime Won’t go forward or backwards, tire pressure errors, check engine light comes on when nothing is wrong now it won’t always start. The battery is at 14.2 I want a new car this one is crap
Leaking at the hatch watering getting into electronic parking brake module causing the parking brake to lock up and catch fire..
As I was driving on an interstate highway, suddenly the brakes on my Jeep locked up and pulled over to the shoulder. The dashboard message was that there was a problem with the Parking Brake. After a few minutes the vehicle would move and I drove home. I called a service station and made an appointment to have it looked at but the brakes were now locked and the vehicle had to be towed. The mechanic said there was a problem with water in Parking Brake Control Module and the design would let in water which caused the problem. He said the module and connector needed replacement. The Jeep was then taken to a dealer who was the only one who could get the parts and make the repairs. The dangerous aspect was the brakes suddenly locking up on the highway.
On or about March 26, 2023 the emergency parking break became engaged and would not disengage. Upon having my car towed to my local Jeep Dealership (Acton, MA) I was informed that water had leaked and corroded the wiring for the EPB module. The dealership informed me that this problem can’t be fixed fully and will continue to happen even after I paid $1,800.
My parking brake light came on and I took it (2014 Cherokee Latitude) to get my brakes fixed and was made aware that my parking brake was stuck on just enough to were it had been wearing out my rotors. my pads and rotors were destroyed because of this and can’t be replaced until I take it to a dealership so they can reprogram it and get it to disengage. A few days prior to this I was in a driveway and my car would not move at all for around 30 mins of starting and restarting my car. I called the dealership and they are wanting to charge me $159 diagnostic plus the cost of repair not to mention it’s unsafe to drive and has to be towed. Dealership apparently only one who can fix and want to charge all this money to repair an electronic issue that causes my vehicle to be unsafe for me and my 2 children!
Parking brake stuck and won’t release due to water getting into parking brake module 2014 jeep Cherokee
My Parking break became stuck ON and would not turn off. A warning light came on to service the parking brake. The car would not move. Upon inspection of the EPB module, it was wet, with corrosion, to the point where water can be heard in the module unit. That area of the rear of the car was also wet. My car will not drive and I will be taking it to a Jeep dealership shortly.
The electronic parking brake module was damaged due and corroded, due to water, leading to the Jeep being unable to disengage the parking brake. The module is located in the rear of the trunk and no other signs of water were present when inspected. All of the Jeeps safety systems were effected by the module, the dash board had two lights indicated “P!” And “brake.” The module was replaced by CDR Fullerton in Somerville. The vehicle was inspected by Jeep in Somerville and they were able to reproduce the problem. The vehicle has never been subjected to any type of water damage before. The issue started while driving on a local road when the ebrake automatically engaged resulting in loss of power. After pulling over and starting restarting the car I was able to drive the car home. However, the problem reoccurred many times and we were unable to use the car until the dealership was able to fix it.
While in drive my parking brake engaged all of a sudden. I tried to disengage and it would not. A scanner was brought and the car would not even talk to it. I tried settings on my dash to disengage parking brake and it brought up error. My car had to be put on a flatbed. I was told they found water on left back side where my parking module was and they have ordered the part. I have read several complaints on this same exact situation.
Emergency break malfunction, will turn on while driving and will not turn off, it will show service break engine light and check engine light
The emergency/parking break froze in the on position. The vehicle had to be towed on a flatbed truck. The parking brake had to be disconnected in order to drive the vehicle. The cause was water intrusion into rear cargo area. Parking brake module/connector are corroded. Needs a module and harness. Code C10CD01. I understand this issue is already being investigated for recall. I want to make sure my complaint is included.
Vehicle began having parking brake issues. After further research I discovered I was not the only person to have this issue. The Electronic Parking Brake Module (EPB) was located on the rear left side of the vehicle next to the spare tire compartment. I removed the EPB and began to shake the part. The part was found to contain a bunch of water that should not have been able to enter the EPB. The vehicle is still inoperable as the EPB will not disengage. The vehicle is not mobile at this time. I just ordered a new EPB Module on 1/21/2023 from MOPAR and was charged $111 for shipping and the part.
While driving the parking brake suddenly engaged and the parking brake warning light came on the dash. I pulled over and was not able to disengage the parking brake. I shut the car off and when it turned back on the parking brake was still engaged. When attempting to disengage the brake, the light on the switch would pulse but not disengage. The car would then not operate in drive or reverse and had to be towed to my house. The following day we had it towed to a dealership was were told that water had corroded the module and would need to be replaced. I’m currently awaiting the replacement part and incurring the fees for a rental car at my own cost. The estimated cost from the dealership is around $1,200 and the part isn’t scheduled to arrive until the end of next month.
I was driving on the highway and the park brake warning light came up. This light was on for some time. When I stopped the vehicle and started it again, the parking brake was engaged. I was not able to drive the vehicle.
I was going to leave for work at 4am as usual, went out to my vehicle and tried to put it in reverse but the emergency brake was on. I had a ‘Service Parking Brake’ prompt and light on the dash, and another ‘Brake’ light lit up, showing the emergency brake was on. I figured I had accidentally hit the button and went to disengage it, but it would not turn off. I had never used the emergency brake, and had no prior issues with it. I was forced to call into work due to not have transportation at that point. After toggling the switch for 15 mins, the light shut off and I immediately put it into gear to drive to the nearest automotive repair shop, where when I put the vehicle in park again the light came back on. I found out today that it was the module located in the spare tire compartment, both of which were soaked with water. Turns out there is a National shortage on this part with no ETA on when they will in stock, which forces me to have to buy a used part. The kicker on that is there are only 11 used ones available in Minnesota where I live, they need to be flashed, and the used part is twice as expensive as a new part. Regardless of which part I use, if water is seeping into that area constantly it’s only a matter of time before it happens again. I have now read stories of the brakes engaging while people are driving, and luckily nobody has been hurt yet. My issue with that is my wife and I use this vehicle daily with our 2.5 year old daughter and 5 month old son, and we bought this vehicle because of its safety features. The fact that this is a known issue, my bill will be north of $1,000 for the repair WITH A USED PART, and no interim fix is baffling to me.
I was driving my 2014 Jeep Cherokee and suddenly the emergency break light came on I loss acceleration in traffic were I immediately panic and I to force truck out of traffic onto side of road about a month before I just put it in stop because I was having issues with this the bank won’t do anything about it am force to pay for a truck that’s unsafe to drive please help point me in the right direction on what can I do..
While driving the vehicle- the service emergency brake light came on. The emergency break then automatically engaged on its own and would not disengage. The car had to be towed because the e-brake would not disengage. It was raining the day this occurred. Dealership indicated that water got to the e-brake electronic components and corroded/fried the components and therefore need to be replaced. This also caused the calipers to seize and rotors/pads to need replacement. Jeep dealership and customer care are refusing to cover any costs of damage even though I've asked them to look into the active investigation being conducted on this issue as well as similar water intrusion issue with models that had power liftgate previously. https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/jeep-cherokee-parking-brake-investigation/ https://www.autoevolution.com/news/13-million-jeep-cherokee-vehicles-may-be-recalled-over-parking-brake-issue-194687.html
In the spring of 2021 my parking break and break light illuminated on my dash, my electronic emergency break would not disengage nor would my vehicle move in drive or reverse. After bringing my vehicle to a local mechanic, they diagnosed the issue that the EPB (electronic break module) which is located inside the rear end of the vehicle was corroded from water damage. (See attached images)
Electronic park brake engaged without prompting. Dash indicator lights for Park Brake & Transmission Service along with 'D' for Drive on dash flashing. Could not move car due to park brake engaged. Took several restarts to disengage it. Happened twice with no dash warnings between incidents. Park brake engaging while driving is dangerous and I don't feel safe in this vehicle as I have had a prior issue with losing acceleration on the freeway leading to a scary event.
The park brake will not disengage the park brake is located in the rear driver side compartment behind the rear tire which gets water corrosion every time it rains and once it is corroded the park brake will not disengage this happens to be an issue with every 2014 jeep care Cherokee sport I’ve had to have the park brake module replaced several times and have read several service bulletins where this has been an issue
Upon backing into a parking spot this morning, my EPS dinged and the break light started flashing. The yellow brake indicator light also popped on. I know there is an open investigation into the EPS system right now so this is another case of malfunction. It has not done it while driving, but now I am terrified it might and I am constantly driving my car. Nothing has been inspected as of yet.
I placed my Jeep into park at a drive thru ATM, once I finished my transaction, the parking brake independently engaged while attempting to shift to drive. I was finally able to disengage the parking brake after many attempts by holding down the parking brake button and shifting to drive with my foot on the gas pedal at the same time. I managed to pull out of bank lot and made a left turn at 15 mph, once I got into the right lane safely, I released the parking brake button but then the parking brake immediately engaged as the service parking brake message displayed. I was unable to move the vehicle and my jeep was towed to Paul Bailey's (Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram) dealership in North Kingstown, RI. My jeep was evaluated that coming Monday, 6-6-22 when tech found codes in system for electronic parking brake. The tech then removed carpets and discovered standing 12 inches of water retained in the spare tire compartment as well as major corrosion in module. The tech tested vehicle and found leaking through the sheet metal seams at top of both sides of tailgate which he then cleaned and resealed. The tech stated that the water had led to an electrical shortage [of the EPB module], which caused the failure. He replaced park brake module, spliced in new 30-pin connector for park brake module and then reassembled vehicle. The tech cleaned sunroof drains of debris causing overflow onto headliner and removed headliner to confirm repairs and clean. The tech also removed rear fascia, resealed body seams behind lights and bumper. I notified the manufacturer of the failure but offered no assistance at all. The vehicle was repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer until July 18th for a total of over 6 weeks with no rental car discounts from Jeep dealership or help from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 53,631 miles. If my 2yr old and 4yr old were in my jeep on the highway at 65mph, this would be a tragedy and possibly a fire explosion!!!
The parking brake engaged while moving, I am happy that it didn’t happen while I was moving fast. This is cause for serve concern if it was to happen at a high rate of speed. Currently I am sitting and trying to trouble shot the issue and may have to call a tow truck.
When I very first got the vehicle I went into settings and turned off the automatic parking break then for no apparent reason it came on all on its own after it turned on it took a good 20 minutes to get to kick off and when I took it to the service center they said it was deadly dangerous to be driving it the way it is i’ve been without a vehicle for over a month I’ve had no way to get to and from work except for bumming a ride from friends and relatives and it’s going to cost me between 1200 to 2 grand to fix it and I know I am not the only one that is having this issue when I spoke to the manufacturer they gave me a couple local repair shops that couldn’t see me for over a month and basically said fuck off
The Parking Brake light in my vehicle came on. After having it checked I was told I'd need to go to a dealership to have the module replaced. The next day, the parking brake came on in the vehicle without any warning after I started the car. It took 2 hours and several restarts for the brake to turn off.
All-wheel drive light indicates PTU is not working on the vehicle. PTU was replaced by dealership and is still not working. There is a recall out for my vehicle but my VIN number does not fall under the recall notice so I was charged for a PTU unit and it still does not work. My car shakes violently at high speeds of 60 mph and randomly puts my car into the emergency brake
the electronic parking brake malfunctions . computer gets wet and brake locks and can not be disengaged
The parking brake comes or activates for no known reason. I tow this Jeep behind my RV and have had the parking brakes come on while on the highway and streets. It is very dangerous because it causes the jeep to sway left and right making it hard to control the RV. You literally have to stop where ever you are and exit the RV, go to the Jeep and manually unlock the parking brakes. VERY DANGEROUS!!! It has happened numerous times.
Keeps saying service parking break and will stall on take off
On July 27, 2022, I remote started my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, as I always do and drove off. As I was driving a peep sounded with a quick blinking flash with a P! on my instrument panel. It did that about 8 times and it went away. On July 28, 2022, I again remote started my car and the P! was displayed with Service Park Brake in stored messages. I was able to drive to work, when I parked the parking brake engaged and was unable to manually remove the parking brake. I went into the shifter box and was able to bypass the parking brake and stored messages cleared. As I was driving, all came back on, again slowing down my car. Now I'm unable to bypass e-brake or parking brake. Making my car unusable and unsafe. We went into the trunk and came across water in the side pockets and spare tire area. Looked at the e-brake module and it is corroded, my car has been parked for 4 days. I am afraid of driving my car and having it stop on the highway. The consumer is still experiencing water ingress and can not determine where the water is coming from. There is about 4 inches of water in the spare tire well and side pockets.
The parking brake is stuck on and cannot be disengaged Just happened today trying to go home, car sat for 7 hrs, I did not put the parking brake on No mechanic has seen it yet
Heavy water leaks in the back trunk area, unable to relase parking brake, ACC/FCW unavailable, powerd lift gate doest work some times. Sucked out at least 2 galons of water form the spare tire area, find serious corrosion in the electircal connector of the Electronic Parking Break Module located in the back truck area.
randomly unable to retract electrical parking break, displays "servics parking break" . safety risk :if stopped on redlight and the parking break engaged , it won't release, unable to move the Vehicle .
Parking brake randomly engaged, while parked and will drive. I was driving in parking lot so no injury. Had towed for service. Found water in harness and parking brake module.
December 13 5:30 am. Temp 29 deg. Daughter went to leave in Cherokee. Stated see heard noise from back after gear selector was put in reverse to back out went around 10’ when park brake warning ! With circle. ABS Air bag. I will say most warning light. My first thoughts were brakes were froze and failed to release. Didn’t understand how Vehicle had moved no drag marks also ? Daughter said it had not dragged tires. Vehicle was not driven “safety issue” Went to work so happens i am a ASE,EVT Master Technician for over 30 years and Repair Emergency vehicles daily. So I started to do a little research. Wow. I was amazed. This is a Known issue. Ref TSB 08-060-16 Park brake module water intrusion. Called local dealer Ref TSB for parts and labor was quoted $575 parts 700 labor with all required programming. PBM was in-stock no harness. Back home. Troubleshooting. Basic electrical check batt/grounds/fuse voltage ect. All good. Removed both rear tires check parking brake connector at actuator motors. Good. Performed inspection part of TSB. Connector for water intrusion yes! very obvious Continued with TSB removed Interior trim panels to access PBM and removed. Is mounted with connector facing up “problem” shook PBM could hear water inside.”problem” computer with water inside that controls all park parked function with data links tied to all the Vehicle ECUs there is a high possibility this could cause a lose of Vehicle control. Decided to reinstall and do a little testing on my own Wanted to see if park brake will apply when driving. It will when ECU is moved around full off water park brake will set. Most warning lights in dash will light up. Park brake ECU will affect all systems. Is this a Safety issue? Yes. At minimum this needs be Investigated. Top of ECU was removed around Teaspoon of water was drained out. Have ECU wiring harness. See pic’s Cause: Water is leaking around body sealer inner fender “poor workmanship “ allowing water to run down wiring harness in ECU.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed however, the brake failed to engage. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the electronic parking brake needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the same dealer and the contact was informed that the parking brake module was corroded. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.

Emergency brake locked into on position and will not release..park malfunction indicator lamp came up and stayed on..I told dealer there was a service bulletin(08-060 -16)out on it and of course he never heard of it..in my research I found it was a common and very dangerous issue on jeep cherokees because of water intrusion into the connector inside the vehicle ..this should be a recall not a bulletin in my opinion..
I put the 2014 jeep Cherokee latitude in reverse backed up . Tried to shift to drive . It stopped at neutral and stuck . Would not shift into any gear . The motor wouldn’t rev or anything . And could not turn engine off . Had to disconnect battery There was (p) light on , the check engine light, traction control light .
This 7 year old car has an electronic parking break which automatically turns itself on and cannot be disengaged without towing the car to the dealer. This is because this 7 year old car has a common internal leak that soaks the left wall in the trunk and the spare tire component. The left wall of the trunk is where the ECU (computer) that controls the parking break lives and it is water damaged. I'm not sure if this is the best place to report this. If there is a better place please let me know? Is it legal to sell a car that becomes non functional and moldy from hidden water damage after only 7 years, then charge to fix it? This problem is common and I think it needs to be a recall. We live on an island and this will cost over $1500 to fix? There is no way to manually disengage the parking break. Is it safe to have a water damaged computer automatically engaging your parking break? Do these electronic parking breaks count as having an emergency break for the purposes of stopping a car on an icy hill when the breaks fail or to take a road test for the safety of the instructor? Is it legal in Massachusetts that to replace this ECU requires a diagnostic scan tool to align the PROXI configuration data which most small local mechanics do not have?
My daughter was driving and the parking brake automatically came on and locked up the wheels and caused her to run off the road and hit a mail box and slide into a ditch
Water leak due to design flaw causes corrosion to wiring and parking brake module. Parking brake locks up sporadically. Confirmed by dealership.
PARKING BRAKE LOCKS UP RANDOMLY AND CAN'T MOVE VEHICLE. WATER LEAKING IN AND CORRODING PARKING BRAKE MODULE.

WITHIN THE PAST YEAR MY ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE SEIZED. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED AND PARKING BRAKE REPLACED. MECHANIC STATED BRAKE WAS DAMAGED DUE TO WATER GETTING TO THE PART. THIS PAST WEEK WHILE AWAY ON BUSINESS 3.5 HOURS FROM HOME THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED WHEN CAR WAS PARKED AND WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED FROM THE MOTEL TO A GARAGE. IT WAS NOT A JEEP DEALERSHIP. THE MECHANIC FOUND A SERVICE MEMO #08-060-16 REGARDING THIS ISSUE ON MY JEEP. HE KNEW I NEEDED TO GET HOME THAT DAY SO MY ELECTRONIC BRAKE WAS UNHOOKED SO I COULD DRIVE. HE STATED THAT WATER AGAIN WAS THE ISSUE. THAT THERE IS A LEAK IN THE BACK WINDOW THAT CAUSES WATER TO POOL IN THE PARKING BRAKE WHICH THIS TIME SHORTED THE COMPUTER THAT RUNS THE SWITCH FOR THE BRAKE. HE ALSO STATED THAT THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE IF I HAD MANAGED TO DISENGAGE THE BRAKE AND CONTINUE TO DRIVE. AFTER RESEARCH I SEE THIS IS A CONTINUING ISSUE IN THIS VEHICLE YEAR AND MODEL. I FEEL A RECALL IS WARRANTED

VEHICLE STARTED TO HAVE BRAKE PULSATION TOOK VEHICLE TO ASE CERTIFY TECH CHECKED BRAKES STATED PADS CALIBER OK BUT THE ROTORS WERE WARP FRONT AND REAR BRAKES THIS SHOW ROTORS ARE DEFECTIVE FROM MANUFACTURER STATED JEEPS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM CALLED JEEP CORPORATE OFFICE AND REP. MARIELA STATED TO REFER TO VEHICLE WARRANTIES DONT KNOW WHAT THIS HAS TO DO WITH DEFECTIVE UNSAFE PARTS INSTALLED IN VEHICLES VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND VEHICLE BRAKES WERE WORKING IN CORRECTLY CAUSING CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY I HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART OFFERED TO TURN IT TO DEALERSHIP SO IT CAN BE SENT TO CORPORATE FOR INSPECTION THEY REFUSED TO ACCEPT PART STATED THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN CONSIDER IT DEFECTIVE

EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT IS ON IN DASHBOARD. EMERGENCY BREAK WILL NOT POWER OFF AND THE LIGHT WILL REMAIN. EMERGENCY BREAK DOES NOT CLICK ON OR OFF ANYMORE.
WHILE EITHER SLOWING TO A STOP OR ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE "JERKS", OR "LUNGES". THOUGH I APPLY THE PEDALS SMOOTHLY (GRADUALLY), THE CAR MOVES AS IF I WERE PUMPING THE BRAKE AT ~1 SECOND INTERVALS. BECAUSE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND MY FOOT IS NOT ON THE BRAKE, THIS CAUSES DRIVERS BEHIND ME TO GET AWFULLY CLOSE (AS MY BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT SIGNAL THAT I AM STOPPING). THIS HAPPENS CHRONICALLY (>1X /WEEK).

I HAVE A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK I STARTED MY CAR TODAY AND I HAVE A "PARK BRAKE SERVICE" MESSAGE MY PARKING BRAKE IS STUCK AND I CAN RELEASE IT. AFTER INSPECTION I FOUND MY TRUNK FULL OF WATER AND FOUND MY BRAKE CONTROL MODULE FULL OF WATER AND CORRODE IT. I CALL THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD ABOUT ANY ISSUES LIKE THIS AND THERE IS NOT RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, AFTER CHECKING ONLINE LOOKS LIKE IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS CAR MODELS AND I CANT BELIEVE IS NOT A RECALL FOR WATER GETTING INTO YOUR JEEP CHEROKEE TRUNK. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD FOR DRIVERS BECAUSE THIS CAN HAPPEN EVEN WHEN YOU DRIVING YOUR CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I HOPE NHTSA LOOK INTO THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND HAVE IT RESOLVE WITH JEEP.

THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON MULTIPLE TIMES (FIRST DAY 10/4/2019 DRIVING LOCALLY), REGARDING SERVICING THE TRANSMISSION, BRAKE AND AIRBAG AFTER STARTING AND IN A NON-MOVING MODE. ON THE SECOND DAY OF OWNERSHIP 10/5/2019, I TOOK IT TO THE CLOSEST JEEP DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM CHECK ON THE WARNING LIGHT. THE TECH ADVISOR GAVE ME A PRINT OUT OF ALL THE ERROR CODES SHOWING (QUITE A FEW). ON THE SIXTH DAY 10-10-2019, I ONLY HAD DRIVEN IT LOCALLY WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF THE DRIVE GEAR WHEN I WAS AT A STOP SIGN. THE DRIVE TRANSMISSION WASN'T ENGAGING WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. I PUT IT IN 'PARK' AND THEN BACK INTO 'DRIVE', AND IT THEN WENT FORWARD. I DROVE HOME, AND I PARKED THE JEEP IN MY YARD. I DIDN'T DRIVE IT AGAIN WITH A REAL CONCERN THAT THE JEEP WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE AND NOT WANTING TO GET STRANDED ALONG A ROAD SOMEWHERE. IN 11/2019, I NEXT DROVE THE JEEP IN MY ATTEMPT TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO HAVE THE DIAGNOSTICS DONE TO FIND OUT THE EXACT ISSUES. THE TRANSMISSION DID THE SAME THING AND SLIPPED OUT OF 'DRIVE' IN BUSY STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IN ROUTE ON A 5 LANE HIGHWAY AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AFTER STOPPING AND GIVING GAS TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS TIME IT TOOK FOUR ATTEMPTS (PLACING IN PARK AND THEN DRIVE) BEFORE THE JEEP WOULD DRIVE FORWARD. I MADE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON A PRAYER FIVE MINUTES FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD. THE FINAL DIAGNOSIS (12/18-2019) WAS THAT THE JEEP NEEDS A TRANSMISSION/ENGINE WIRING HARNESS. 'THERE IS A BRAKE IN THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE CIRCUIT FOR COMMUNICATION AND DEPENDING ON HOW THE ENGINE FLEX'S, THE COMMUNICATION LINE DROPS OUT AND CAUSES THE TCM TO GO OFFLINE'. ON 4/12/2020, I TOOK PHOTOS OF THE CODE FLASHING (SEE ATTACHED IMAGES). IT WOULDN'T START. ONE WEEK LATER, IT STARTED AND I DROVE IT IN MY YARD TO PARK IT FARTHER OUT OF MY MAIN DRIVEWAY. THERE IT HAS SAT FOR A FEW MONTHS.

I WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY AND THE JEEP STOP COMPLETELY WITH THE PARKING AUTOMATICALLY AND IN THE BOARD WAS BLINKING TRANSMISSION SERVICE, LITERALLY THE TRUCK WENT CRAZY I COULDN'T MOVE THE TRUCK IN THE HIGHWAYS THANKS GOD THEIR WERE NOT TO MUCH PEOPLE IN THE ROAD. I GOT TO DO A RESEARCH AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME COMPLAIN AND THE SAME PROBLEM ON THEIR JEEP CHEROKEE.
AGAIN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS OUR 2ND ENGINE AND THE DEALER SAYS IT IS THIS NEW ENGINE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE JEEP WILL IDLE ROUGH, SHIFT ON IT'S OWN, ALL THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUES. AND NOW THE PARKING BRAKE LOCKED UP AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. I ASSUME IT IS THE TRANSIMISSION BECAUSE IT STILL WILL THROW IT IN NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING.

WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW RATE, THE EBRAKE ENGAGED BY ITSELF, BRINGING THE CAR TO A STOP AND RENDERING IT UNDRIVEABLE. THE EBRAKE WOULD NOT RELEASE WHEN PUSHING THE BUTTON DOWN OR WHEN SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING IT. VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TOWED AWAY. *TR

WATER HAS LEAKED IN TO MY VEHICLE AND CAUSED ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE TO SHORT OUT AND NEED TO BE SERVICED. THE EPB NOW AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGES ITSELF WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, CAUSING US TO BE STRANDED. UPON INVESTIGATION, IT APPEARS AS THOUGH NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS WITH MY VEHICLE THAT HAVE A SUNROOF EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUE, POSSIBLY DUE TO DRAINAGE TUBES INSTALLED BY JEEP THAT THEY DID NOT MAKE OWNERS AWARE OF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING OUT OF THE GARAGE, THE PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE. I WAS GETTING GAS AND WHEN I WENT TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENABLED, WITH THE LIGHT BLINKING. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO TURN IT OFF, FINALLY IT DISLODGED. WHILE I WAS ATTEMPTING TO DISLODGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, I HAPPENED TO BE AT THE GAS STATION WHERE MY MECHANIC IS, WHO I USE FOR OIL CHANGES AND MINOR MAINTENANCE. HE OPENED MY TRUNK AND NOTICED CRACKS IN THE FRAME, AND THE ENTIRE SPARE TIRE WHEEL WELL WAS FILLED WITH WATER. HE ADVISED ME TO TAKE THE CAR DIRECTLY TO JEEP AND THAT THEY NEEDED TO FIX THIS, IT WAS HIS OPINION THIS WAS A SAFETY MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I TOOK THE CAR TO JEEP, WHO INFORMED ME MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD BE CHARGING ME FOR THIS. I CONTACTED CORPORATE JEEP, WHO UNFORTUNATELY RELIES ON THEIR DEALERSHIPS TO ADVISE THEM. CORPORATE FINALLY TOLD ME THAT AFTER THREE WEEKS OF THE JEEP DEALERSHIP HAVING MY CAR, THEY WOULD NOT BE COVERING THE ISSUE DUE TO A FRONT END ACCIDENT FROM 2015. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE BODY SHOP WHO FIXED THE CAR FROM THAT ACCIDENT AND RECEIVED HIS EXPERT OPINION THAT THIS WAS ALL ORIGINAL, NEVER FIXED AND THERE WAS NO WAY THE ACCIDENT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS. HE REITERATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD RECTIFY THIS ISSUE SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE GASKET AND THERE IS NO OTHER WAY, IN HIS OPINION, FOR WATER TO ENTER THE SPARE WHEEL WELL AND AFFECT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL NOT DISLODGE. JEEP NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS.

I HAVE A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE IT HAS OVER 100,000 MILES OVER IT I JUST RECENTLY HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE WHICH WAS NO MORE THAN FLUID CHANGE. RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING TO A RESTAURANT TO PICK UP SOME DINNER THE PARKING BRAKE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON YELLOW INDICATION CAME ON I WAS JUST DRIVING NORMAL WEATHER NO SNOW NO RAIN SITTING IN LINE AT THE DRIVE-THRU. I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT TO PLACE IT IN PARK AND TO SEE IF I COULD RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE AS THE PARKING BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON. ONCE I PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT WILL NOT RELEASE. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY HOUSE WHICH IS LESS THAN A MILE AWAY CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY JUST KEPT ASKING FOR CODES THERE WAS NO CODES TO BE GIVEN. I HAVE TRIED MANY SOLUTIONS INCLUDING OF DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY PULLING THE FUSES I HAVE PULLED THE BRAKE MODULE FROM THE BACK NOW THAT THERE WAS A LITTLE MOISTURE IN THERE. I TRIED IT OUT AND RIDE IT LET IT SIT A DAY OR TWO. THE BRAKE WILL NOT RELEASE. LOCAL DEALERSHIP WANTS ME TO BRING IT IN FOR AN EXPENSIVE DIAGNOSIS. AFTER JACKING UP THE VEHICLE MYSELF I WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT IT WAS ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE THAT WILL NOT RELEASE.I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IF I JUST ROCKED IT BETWEEN REVERSE AND DRIVE THAT IT WOULD RELEASE. IT DID RELEASE ONCE BUT I LITERALLY HAD TO DRIVE WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON UNTIL IT DID LET'S NOT DO THAT AGAIN. I REPLACE THE MODULE WITH ONE I FOUND ONLINE FROM ANOTHER JEEP CHEROKEE AND IT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. LOCAL DEALERSHIPS HAVE NO IDEA HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT WAS NO HELP WHATSOEVER

MY ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY AND TURNED OFF WITHOUT ACTIVATING THE PARKING BRAKE. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. IN ADDITION, THE RED 'BRAKE' LIGHT, AND YELLOW ELECTRONIC PARK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD APPEARED; THE ODOMETER WAS FLASHING; AND, 'SERVICE FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE' APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD MESSAGE WINDOW. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS FLIPPING THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH FROM THE ON AND OFF POSITIONS, THEN HOLDING THE SWITCH IN THE "OFF" POSITION FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, THE PARKING BRAKE DID DISENGAGE. ALL OF THE LIGHTS REMAINED ON. EACH TIME THE CAR WAS PLACED BACK INTO "PARK" THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD RE-ENGAGE, AND I NEEDED TO GO BACK THROUGH THE SAME PROCESS TO DISENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE DUE TO THE ISSUE ON 9/13/19 AT A CERTIFIED JEEP DEALER/TECHNICIAN. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS CORROSION OF THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE LOCATED IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, DUE TO WATER SOMEHOW ACCESSING THIS AREA. IMPORTANTLY, THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT IDENTIFY HOW WATER GOT INTO THE AREA. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE CORRODED MODULE AND WIRING HARNESS. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE ISSUE WOULD NOT RE-OCCUR AS THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW WATER ACCESSED THE PARKING BRAKE MODULE, BUT THAT THEY HAD RESEALED THE ENTIRE AREA AND WERE HOPEFUL THIS WOULD BE A PERMANENT FIX. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES IN APPROX. 60 DAYS/2000 MILES SINCE HAVING THE MODULE REPLACED. THE COST OF THE PARTS AND LABOR TO REPLACE THE MODULE WAS $963. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A LATENT DEFECT WHICH ADVERSELY IMPACTS THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE.

I PULLED OVER, SHUT VEHICLE OFF, ONCE RESTARTED IT WAS ALL OFF, THEN I DROVE ABOUT 10 MILES UP.THE ROAD. IT CAME ON AGAIN ALL LIGHTS AND WARNINGS, WHEN YOUR DRIVING BETWEEN 40-55 MPH, IT SEEMS TO ACCELERATE AND THEN DECELERATE. AS IF SOMEONE WAS GIVING IT GAS AND THEN LETTING OFF OF THE PEDAL, IS HOW I CAN DESCRIBE IT. I STARTED IT ON TODAY 10-28-19, IT'S STILL DRIVING THE SAME WAY WITH ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON. MY OPINION, EITHER THE DEALERSHIP IS INCOMPETENT, OR PURPOSEFULLY DECEITFUL. PAY FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE. I ASKED, HE COULDN'T ANSWER... HOW DID I BREAK THE SOFTWARE??? IT IS NOT SOFTWARE, THE BULLETIN SAYS IT ALL.

I PARKED MY CAR ON MAIN STREET IN TOWN TO PICK UP MY MAIL. WHEN I GOT READY TO LEAVE MY EMERGENCY PARKING BREAK WAS ON. ( I NEVER PUT E BRAKE ON,BIT DID IT BY ITSELF) I TRIED TO DISENGAGE BUT IT WOULD NOT. I HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED AND IT COST ME $611.28 IN REPAIRS. WE WERE TOLD WATER AND CORROSION WAS FOUND IN ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE AND CONNECTOR. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS AND HAVE FOUND THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS. WE CALLED JEEP WHO TOLD US THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE E BRAKE BUT MY VIN NUMBER DIDN'T MATCH. OBVIOUSLY IT SHOULD. VERY FRUSTRATED WITH JEEP AT THIS POINT. WATER SHOULD NOT BE GETTING INTO THE MODULE. THAT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFFECT AND SHOULD BE COVERED AS SUCH AND RECALLED.

MY JEEP CHEROKEE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE HAS COME ON BY ITSELF AND IT CANNOT BE TURNED OFF. THIS FIRST HAPPENED AT THE END OF LAST YEAR AND I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH TO BE REPLACED. LAST WEEK IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT NOW THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE CONNECTOR AND ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE BOTH NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1500 PLUS. DOING A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET REVEALS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEP CHEROKEES. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYTIME AND IT IS UNSAFE. TO DRIVE. LOOKING ON THE JEEP WEBSITE THEY HAVE ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT COVERS THE EXACT ISSUE - ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE CONNECTOR WATER INTRUSION. THE PROBLEM THAT THEY CLAIM IS DUE TO WATER DAMAGE AND IT IS IN A SPOT WHERE I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE ANY WATER CAN GET IN.*DT *TP

WHILE DRIVING ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH THE VEHICLE PARTIALLY LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, UP SHIFT, OR OWNSHIFT, THE BRAKE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, ALONG WITH MANY OTHER LIGHTS ON THE DASH INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT OFF THE JEEP. I WAITED A MINUTE THEN STARTED IT BACK UP. THE SERVICE PARKING BRAKE MESSAGE WAS ON THE MESSAGE CENTER, THE ODOMETER IS BLINKING, AND 4WD IS TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE. I HAD IT LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC AND THEY SHOWED ME THE PARK BRAKE MODULE HAD WATER INTRUSION AND WAS VERY MUCH CORRODED.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND BEGAN SLOWING DOWN. FORTUNATELY NO ACCIDENT HAPPENED. THE DASHBOARD SHOWED THAT IT HAD TRANSMISION PROBLEMS. WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR WE MENTIONED THE SALES PERSON THAT WE FELT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WASN'T WORKING GOOD BUT HE ANSWERED WAS THAT THIS WAS SOMETHING NORMAL. THE DEALER FIXED THE BREAK BOOSTER ABOUT A YEAR AGO BUT THE CAR STILL SHOWS A LOW BREAK. THIS HAPPENED WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET.

TWICE, I WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH OR LESS AND THE BRAKES ENGAGED AUTOMATICALLY ALL ON THEIR OWN, SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES FLASHING "BRAKE" MESSAGE IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND STOPPING THE CAR WHILE IN MOTION.THE CITY ROAD WAS DRY BOTH TIMES.FIRST TIME JUNE 12, 2018, TRAVELING 27 MPH, THERE WERE LARGE CONSTRUCTION BARRELS ALONG THE ROAD ON THE RIGHT SIDE, CARS ON LEFT, THE CAR IN FRONT WAS 1-1.5 CAR LENGTHS AWAY, MY CAR WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE, NO ITEMS ON THE ROAD SURFACE, MY CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION.DEALER COULDN'T FIND A STORED MESSAGE OR ANY PROBLEMS.SECOND TIME, AUGUST 18, 2018, DRIVING IN THE LEFT LANE, GRASS MEDIAN WITH TREES, NO CARS CLOSE (ALL WERE AT LEAST 2-3 CAR LENGTHS AWAY), NOTHING ON ROAD SURFACE, ABOUT 30 MPH, ON A CITY STREET. DEALER AGAIN COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING.THIS IS VERY SCARY. HOW DO I KNOW IF IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGHER SPEED AND THE CAR STOPS ABRUPTLY AND I GET REAR-ENDED AND DIE?

WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH THE CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND SLOWED VERY QUICKLY, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ASSIST EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON ( I THINK THAT WAS WHAT IT SAID. AS I PULLED TO THE ROAD SIDE THERE WAS LITTLE NO RPMS . I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WAITED , RESTARTED AND STILL NO RPMS. I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AFTER GOOGLING THE PROBLEM AND RESTARTED AND LIGHTS WHERE ALL GONE . THIS WAS GREAT FOR ABOUT 4 DAYS AND MAYBE 300 MILES AND AGAIN IT HAPPENED . THIS TIME I HAD MY CADE READER AND RECEIVED A P1DCD CODE, I DID NOT CLEAR CODE BUT SHUT ENGINE DOWN AND RESTARTED. THE CAR RAN WITH RPMS OK BUT WAS A BIT SLUGGISH . I CALLED DEALER WHEN I GOT HOME AND THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM TO DO A DIOGNOSTIC TEST TO FIGURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I DRIVE MY KIDS IN THE MORNINGS AND FEEL THIS COULD LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT . I DONT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT MYSELF LET ALONE MY CHILDREN WITH ME.

AFTER FILLING MY TANK WITH GAS I TURNED ONTO A NEARBY ROADWAY AND FELT MY CAR SPUTTERING AND JERKING. AS I CAME TO A SLOW STOP AT A STOP LIGHT MY CAR ABRUPTLY SLAMMED TO A STOP AND MADE A LOUD BANG/SLAMMING NOISE AND PROMPTED ME TO SHIFT TO PARK AND RESTART THE CAR. I FOLLOWED THESE COMMANDS AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. AS SOON AS I WOULD SHIFT OUT OF PARK THE LOUD SLAMMING WOULD OCCUR AGAIN AND I BEGAN TO SMELL FUMES SO I STOPPED TRYING TO FOLLOW THE PROMPTS. I PUT MY CAR IN NEUTRAL AND PUSHED MY CAR OUT OF THE MOVING TRAFFIC LANES AND GOT IT TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE AND GAVE IT BACK. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE 3 TIMES SINCE. THEY REPLACED AN EVAPORATION PRESSURE SWITCH THE SECOND TIME I TOOK MY CAR IN AND THIS STILL HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE. THE LAST TIME THE ISSUE OCCURRED I WAS SLOWING DOWN ON A HIGHWAY IN DENSE TRAFFIC AND AS TRAFFIC STARTED MOVING AGAIN MY GAS PEDAL STOPPED WORKING. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS I ONLY HEARD LOUD REVVING NOISES AS MY CAR COASTED.. WHEN I WENT TO PRESS THE BRAKES AND PULL OFF THE ROAD I IMMEDIATELY HEARD THE LOUD SLAMMING NOISE AND MY CAR BROKE DOWN AGAIN IN A VERY UNSAFE LOCATION ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAITED ONE HOUR AND MY CAR WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND I SLOWLY GOT IT OFF THE HIGHWAY WITH MY E-LIGHTS ON. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE SHOP AFTER THE NEW YEAR.. AGAIN. WORST OF ALL AFTER LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE ONLINE I SEE IT IS COMMON AMONG JEEP VEHICLES. NOT JUST THE CHEROKEE. HAPPENS AFTER I GAS UP. IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AS I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED AT HIGH SPEEDS BY OTHER CARS ON THE ROADWAY. HAS BEEN LISTED IN FORUMS AS SOMESORT OF ROLLOVER FUEL VALVE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE BEFORE MORE SERIOUS INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH OCCURS ASSUMING THAT HASN'T ALREADY HAPPENED. ALSO PLEASE NOTE THAT SINCE THE WORK THEY DID ON 2ND VISIT TO DEALER I HAVE HAD CHECK GAS CAP AND ENGINE LIGHTS ON

SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING DRIVING 2014 JEEP THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS. TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT FOR ALL MAINTENANCE ASKING THEM TO CHECK THE TRANS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE SLIPPING AND TOLD EVERY TIME IT IS WAY THE TRANS WORKS. I HAVE 60K MILES ON THIS VEHICLE I AM CONCERNED THAT THE TRANS WILL FAIL WHILE I AM ON THE ROAD AND CAUSE A DEADLY ACCIDENT. 8/10 I HAD AN APP'T FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I REQUESTED A VEHICLE CHECK AND CHECK BRAKES AS THEY DID NOT SEEM TO BE WORKING AS THEY SHOULD. WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE NEEDED FRONT/BACK BRAKES AND THAT ROTORS NEEDED REPLACED. I ONLY TRAVELED ABOUT 15 MILES WHEN I HEARD A CLINKING SOUND IN LEFT REAR IT SOUNDED AS IF A LUG NUT LOOSE WHEN I STOPPED THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE LOWERED AND WHEN MOVING IT SOUNDED LIKE A BUCKET OF METAL IN MY REAR WHEEL. I TURNED INTO A PARKING. WHEN BACKING UP THE VEHICLE FROZE I STOPPED, CALLED SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF FREEDOM. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPT. WAS TOLD ISSUE WAS BRAKES WERE NOT INSTALLED/SECURED PROPERLY. I ASKED THAT ALL THE BRAKES BE INSPECTED, IF THE TECH DID NOT KNOW HOW TO INSTALL ONE THERE WAS A CONCERN FOR THE OTHER 3 WHEELS I DID NOT WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE OF HAVING A FATAL CRASH. I ALSO ASKED THAT ALL WORK BE REINSPECTED. WHEN EXPLAINING WHAT HAD HAPPENED IT WAS OBVIOUS REP WAS SPEAKING BEYOND SCOPE OF HER KNOWLEDGE ' THIS WAS VERY FRUSTRATING I WAS PLACED IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION DUE TO THE POOR WORKMANSHIP OF THE TECH. THE STORY DID NOT MAKE SENSE THE MORE SHE TRIED TO EXPLAIN IT WAS MORE CONVOLUTED. I WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE SERVICE MGER WHO EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED, ADMITTED THAT BRAKE FAILURE WAS TECH'S FAULT. IN LIGHT OF ALL THE TIMES I HAVE HAD THE JEEP INTO SERVICE DEPT COMPLAINING ABOUT TRANS DOES NOT GIVE ME A LEVEL OF CONFIDENCE THAT THERE IS NOT SOMETHING SIGNIFICANT WITH THE TRANS I WOULD LIKE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MATTER

ON SUNDAY ON MAY 22, 2016, I DROVE MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE ON INTERSTATE 275 FROM THE MONTGOMERY ROAD EXIT TO THE FIVE-MILE ROAD EXIT. I WAS ALONE IN THE VEHICLE. I USED THE CRUISE CONTROL DURING THIS TRAVEL. I ORIGINALLY SET THE SPEED FOR 70 MILES PER HOUR. AT ONE POINT, I HAD TO SLOW DOWN BECAUSE A CAR PULLED INTO THE LANE IN FRONT OF ME AND THE STEP DOWN OF FEATURE OF THE SPEED CONTROL WORKED AS EXPECTED. WHEN I EXITED FROM I-275 TO FIVE-MILE, I APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT WAS UNABLE TO SLOW MY CAR. I CONTINUED TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE CAR'S SPEED WAS NOT BEING REDUCED AND I REALIZED THAT I WOULD BE CROSSING INTO THE SIGNALIZED INTERSECTION WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO STOP. SHORTLY BEFORE ENTERING THE INTERSECTION, I HONKED THE HORN OF MY CAR. MY CAR CONTINUED ACROSS ALL FOUR LANES OF FIVE-MILE ROAD AND ONTO THE ON-RAMP FROM FIVE MILE TO INTERSTATE 275. THERE IT STOPPED. I DO NOT REMEMBER PUSHING THE BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO CANCEL THE CRUISE CONTROL . THE CAR DID NOT IMPACT OR TOUCH ANY OTHER VEHICLE OR PEDESTRIAN OR OTHER PROPERTY. IT CAME TO A STOP ON THE ONRAMP. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT THEN CAUSING THE CAR TO ACCELERATE AND THE BRAKES WORKED. I DROVE MY CAR VERY SLOWLY AND PARKED IT IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE SHOPPING CENTER AT THE INTERSECTION OF FIVE-MILE AND BEECHMONT AVENUE. FROM THERE, I HAD THE CAR TOWED FROM THE PARKING LOT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT, KINGS CHRYSLER/DODGE/JEEP, INC. AT KINGS AUTO MALL. A REPORT REFERENCED BY NTSA ID NO. 10861030 DESCRIBES A SIMILAR INCIDENT INVOLVING THE SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR. SO FAR, THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THERE IS NO PROBLEM DISCERNABLE FROM THE COMPUTER CODES OR FAULT INDICATIONS.

A LIST OF THE CURRENT LIFE THREATENING AND NON LIFE THREATENING CONDITIONS I HAVE ENCOUNTERED WITH MY JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK. THE MOST SERIOUS BEING A PERSISTENT PROBLEM IN RELATION TO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING AND ACCELERATING CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK AND IN SOME CASES WHIPLASH. AS AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER I HAVE SEEN THE ELECTRONIC REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE AND YET THERE IS STILL PERSISTENT MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. I HAVE ENCOUNTERED LINT MODE WERE THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE FROM GEARS 1, 2, OR 3 ON 65MPH HIGHWAY WHICH I BELIEVE HAS CAUSED IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE CAR. THE ISSUE OCCURRED IN JULY ON ROUTE 202 IN A CATTLE SHOOT CREATED BY SUMMER TIME ROAD WORK I HAD TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NEARLY 2 MILES UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND ASSES THE ISSUE. BELOW IS A LIST OF CURRENT AND PAST PROBLEMS: -TRANSMISSION STOPPED ON A 65MPH HIGHWAY (NEW SOFTWARE LOADED STILL A PROBLEM) -SHIFTER LOCKED IN DRIVE COULDN'T SHIFT TO NEUTRAL TOOK 4 HOURS TO SHUT CAR OFF AT DEALERSHIP (ENTIRE SHIFTER REPLACED) - NAVIGATION (REPLACED TWO TIMES, ON MY THIRD NAV SYSTEM) - WINDOW MOTOR MECHANISM (REPLACED) - MOONROOF SHADE AND ASSEMBLY (BEING REPLACED THIS WEEK) -FAULTY WIRING OF CIGARETTE LIGHTER CAUSING FUSE TO BLOW DUE TO ELECTRICAL SHORT (REWIRED AND FUSE REPLACED) -SPEAKER (REPLACED) -WATERPROOFING TRIM FALLING OFF (REPLACED) -RATTLING FROM BOLTS FOR SEAT-BELTS (ATTEMPTED FIX DIDN'T WORK) -O2 SENSOR CAUSING MULTIPLE ENGINE STARTS (REPLACED) -FRONT SEAT UNEVEN (REPLACED) -RECALLS RANGING FROM HACKING TO ELECTRICAL SHORTS THAT HAVE BEEN NOTED TO CAUSE A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL FIRE

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM IS ACTIVATING WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT ANY OTHER VEHICLES OR ROAD OBSTRUCTIONS IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES OVER THE LAST MONTH. ONE OF THE TIMES THIS HAPPENED MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40MPH AND THERE WAS A VEHICLE FOLLOWING BEHIND HER AND THEY IN TURN HAD TO SLAM THEIR BRAKES ON TO AVOID HITTING HER. OF COURSE THIS ENRAGED THE DRIVER BEHIND HER THINKING THAT SHE WAS INTENTIONALLY SLAMMING ON HER BRAKES. ANOTHER TIME MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM SLAMMED THE BRAKES ON HARD ENOUGH TO ENGAGE THE ABS SYSTEM. THANK GOD THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS OR SEMI'S BEHIND HER OR SLICK ROADS AS THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A VERY SERIOUS IF NOT FATAL ACCIDENT. THE TWO OTHER TIMES WERE THE SAME, THE CRASH AVOIDANCE SYSTEM ACTIVATING FOR NO REASON. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND WE WERE NOTIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICK UP ON 11-13-2015. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE DEALER I SPECIFICALLY ASKED IF THE SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THE CRASH AVOIDANCE SYSTEM AND TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN CORRECTED. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HADN'T BEEN LOOKED AT BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T ON THE LIST OF REPAIRS, WHEN ACTUALLY THIS IS WHY THE APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE WAS SET. THE DEALER TOLD ME TO GO AHEAD AND TAKE THE VEHICLE AND BRING IT BACK ON 11-23-2015. I REFUSED TAKING THE VEHICLE AS IT WAS NOT SAFE FOR MY WIFE TO DRIVE. AFTER ARGUING, THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE. WE WERE NOTIFIED AGAIN ON 11-19-2015 THAT THE VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICK UP, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE SYMPTOMS WITH THE CRASH AVOIDANCE SYSTEM. ON 11-20-2015 I WENT TO THE DEALER AND AGAIN REFUSED THE PICK UP OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED AND IS SAFE FOR MY WIFE TO OPERATE. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH JEEP MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THIS ORDEAL AND HAVE AN OPEN CASE ON THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME.

DRIVING TO WORK ON HWY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC I ACCELERATED UP A SMALL HILL CAR JERKED THEN POWERED DOWN ON HWY AT 65 MPH I WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC AND PULL OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD THEN NOTICED SERVICE TRANSMISSION, CHECK PARKING BREAK, PUT CAR IN PARK AND THEN SELECT GEAR ALL CAME ON AS MESSAGES ALSO THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. PUT CARE IN PARK AND RESTARTED ENGINE ALL LIGHTS/MESSAGES STILL ON DASH AND CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR FOR DRIVING. TRIED TWO MORE TIMES AND FINALLY COULD DRIVE UNDER 50 MPH STRAIGHT TO DEALER FOR SERVICE. THE CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT REMAINED ON DURING MY ENTIRE DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED ACCELERATION WHEN IN TRAFFIC COASTING AND MY FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL. ALSO HARD SHIFTING MULTIPLE TIMES LIKE IT WAS SKIPPING GEARS WHEN ACCELERATING. VERY SCARY AND UNSAFE SITUATION TO BE IN.

THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN SHOWING ISSUES FOR A WHILE NOW. THE ISSUES WERE BROUGHT TO THE LOCAL DEALERS ATTENTION BUT ONLY WOULD ACCEPT TO TAKE THE CAR IN FOR THE RADIO RECALL THESE VEHICLES HAVE CURRENTLY. AFTER TAKING THE CAR ON ITS FIRST 100+ MILE JOURNEY, UPON GETTING CLOSER TO THE EXIT I WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE, THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT TO LOWER SPEEDS PROPERLY AND I HAD TO STAY ON THE SHOULDER TO COME TO A STOP, OTHERWISE I WOULD RISK FLIPPING THE VEHICLE APPROACHING THE CURVED EXIT AT SUCH A SPEED. MUST I SAY I GAVE THE VEHICLE PLENTY OF STOPPING/SLOWING DISTANCE. UPON COMING TO A STOP AHEAD OF THE EXIT THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD CLEARLY A PROBLEM WITH THE DECELERATION OF THE TRANSMISSION. I BROUGHT THIS ISSUE UP WITH THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY AND STATED I SHOULD WATCH THE CAR FURTHER AND BE MORE CAREFUL. JUST EARLIER TODAY, THE VEHICLE DECIDED TO JERK FORWARD WHILE DECELERATING FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS AGAIN AND THE SAME RESPONSE WAS GIVEN. LATER THIS AFTERNOON, APPROXIMATELY 2:30 PM EST THE KEY WAS PUT INTO THE IGNITION AND THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD STRIKING THE VEHICLE UPFRONT BUT LUCKILY NOT DOING ANY VISIBLE DAMAGE. THIS CAR IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN AS I LIVE NEAR A CHILDREN'S SCHOOL AND WORK NEAR A MIDDLE SCHOOL AND I WORRY ONE MORNING THIS CAR JUMPS FORWARD AND G-D FORBID STRIKES A CHILD OR PEDESTRIAN AND TURN INTO CHAOS, AS WELL AS PUTTING MY CHILDREN IN DANGER. THIS CAR CLEARLY HAS TRANSMISSION FAULTS AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED LEGALLY ONCE AND FOR ALL..

THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS WHEN I WAS MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOCKED. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, THE BREAKS LOCKED, AND MULTIPLE DIFFERENT MALFUNCTION LIGHTS CAME ON INCLUDING THE ENGINE LIGHT AND MY CAR SAYING TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, AND NO LIGHTS WERE ON SO I DROVE IT TO THE NEXT EXIT TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. AS I WAS TRYING TO GET INTO A PARKING LOT IN 5 O'CLOCK TRAFFIC, THE CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN THEN LOCKED UP AGAIN. I ENDED UP HAVING TO GET A NEW TRANSMISSION OWNING THE CAR FOR LESS THAN A MONTH. SINCE THEN THE CAR HAS HAD RANDOM MOMENTS OF ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AND WHEN I HAVE REPORTED IT TO JEEP ARLINGTON THEY WOULD SAY NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. SINCE THEN, MY CAR HAS HAD 3 OTHER SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHERE IT HAS LOCKED UP AND/OR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND HAVING TO GET IT TOWED TO JEEP; ALL REPORTEDLY BY JEEP HAVING TO DO WITH MY TRANSMISSION. ONE OF THOSE TIMES OCCURRED AGAIN ON A BUSY STATE ROAD DURING 5 O'CLOCK TRAFFIC AND AN OFFICER HAD TO STAY BEHIND ME UNTIL A TOW COMPANY CAME.

OTHER EMERGENCY WARNINGS APPEARED: CHECK ENGINE, STABILITY TRACTION, SERVICE TRANSMISSION. JEEP HAD NO POWER AND WAS HARD TO STEER. I WAS IN FAR LANE AND ABLE TO COAST TO SHOULDER. TURNED CAR OFF/ON. SAID "SERVICE TRANSMISSION". TRIED TO DRIVE BUT PARKING BRAKE WAS STILL LOCKED. HAD TOWED TO DODGE SERVICE DEPT. 9/3 DIAGNOSIS- "CODE U042 ERROR CAUSING SERVICE PARKING BRAKE MESSAGE AND TRANSMISSION TO GO LIMP". TOLD IT WAS REPROGRAMMED AND PROBLEM FIXED. 2ND INCIDENT- 9/4- DRIVING ON COUNTRY ROAD IN SCHOOL TRAFFIC WHEN SAME EXACT PROBLEM OCCURRED.THERE WAS NO WHERE TO COAST/PULL OVER. TURNED CAR OFF/ON. SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT WAS ON BUT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE TO MOVE CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC. SHUT DOWN 5 MORE TIMES W/ LOUD CLUNKS AS IF TRANSMISSION WAS GOING TO DROP OUT BEFORE ABLE TO SAFELY PARK. NEARLY CAUSED SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT! HAD TOWED TO DODGE. STAR CASE OPENED. IN SERVICE DEPT FOR 14 DAYS. THIS IS THE THIRD INCIDENT IN WHICH THE COMPUTER OF THE JEEP CHEROKEE HAS MALFUNCTIONED. I HAD IT SERVICED FOR THE SECOND TIME JUST TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNING ON AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. IN THIS PARTICULAR ACCIDENT, THE SCREEN FROZE, MY PHONE WAS CHARGING AND WHEN THE SCREEN FROZE MY PHONE WAS POWERED OFF ALONG WITH THE CHARGING PORT, AND THEN WHEN I WENT TO BRAKE DUE TO IT BEING A RED LIGHT AND CAR IN FRONT OF ME THE BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME AND I WAS UNABLE TO BRAKE OR SWITCH LANES. A SERVICE LIGHT FLASHED AT ME WHEN EVERYTHING FROZE BUT THEN DISAPPEARED. OF COURSE, AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN OFF AND TURNED BACK ON, THERE WERE NO ISSUES. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE CAR HAS FROZEN ON ME. I'M UNSURE OF THE BETTER TERM TO DESCRIBE THIS. BUT THIS TIME RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH WAS NOT IN MY CONTROL DUE TO MY BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKING. I WAS TOLD TWO WEEKS AGO MY CAR WAS UP TO DATE ON ALL SERVICE ISSUES. APPARENTLY THIS WAS INCORRECT AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH JEEP. I ALSO HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ANY SAFETY RECALLS REGARDING THE KNOWN TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THE BRAKE HACK DUE TO THE 3G AND UCONNECT COMPUTER SYSTEMS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND FIXED.

EPISODE ONE: WHILE DRIVING UP HILL AT ABOUT 30 MILES AND HOUR CAR JERKED INTO NEUTRAL, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FLASHED ENGINE LIGHT WARNING, TRANSMISSION LIGHT WARNING, PARKING BREAK WARNING, TRACTION CONTROL WARNING AND FLASHED "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" AND SERVICE PARKING BRAKE". OPERATOR RESTARTED CAR THREE TIMES BEFORE TRANSMISSION WOULD ENGAGE. THIS CLEARED ALL WARNINGS EXCEPT "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT. CAR WAS DRIVEN TO DEALER WHERE WITHOUT DOCUMENTATION THEY STATED THAT THEY FLASHED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND THEN CAR WAS RETURNED TO OWNER. SECOND EPISODE: ON SEPT 3, 2015 OPERATOR WAS DRIVING ABOUT 55 MILES PER HOUR WHEN SUDDENLY WITH A JERK THE CAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE CAR JERKED INTO NEUTRAL, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FLASHED ENGINE LIGHT WARNING, TRANSMISSION LIGHT WARNING, PARKING BREAK WARNING, TRACTION CONTROL WARNING AND FLASHED "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" AND SERVICE PARKING BRAKE". . OPERATOR WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE WHERE HE RESTARTED THE CAR ABOUT 4 TIMES BEFORE TRANSMISSION WOULD ENGAGE. THEN ABOUT 10 MILES FURTHER ON THE ROAD, COMING UP TO A STOP SIGN THE SAME BEHAVIOR REOCCURRED. CAR WAS DELIVERED TO DEALER ON 9-03-2015 AND THEIR SERVICE REPORT OF 9-04-2015 INDICATES THAT THEY FLASHED TCM,BCM,IPC AND R40 RECALL. EPISODE THREE: SEPTEMBER 6 2015 OPERATOR WAS DRIVING CAR UP TO STOP SIGN CAR JERKED INTO NEUTRAL, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FLASHED ENGINE LIGHT WARNING, TRANSMISSION LIGHT WARNING, PARKING BREAK WARNING, TRACTION CONTROL WARNING AND FLASHED "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" AND SERVICE PARKING BRAKE". FROM THAT POINT TO THE DEALER OPERATOR NOTED THAT THE ENGINE RPM MAINTAINED AT ABOUT 3000RPM INSTEAD OF FLUCTUATING NORMALLY AS WITH NORMAL DRIVING.

AFTER DOING MY HOMEWORK AND RESEARCH ON A VEHICLE WITH #1 SAFETY RATINGS IN ITS CLASS, I AM NOW IN A CONSTANT STATE OF FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF NOT ONLY MYSELF AND MY FAMILY, BUT TO ANY OTHER INNOCENT PEOPLE AROUND ME. I TRAVEL AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE IN A VEHICLE THAT I AM STILL IN DEBT A VERY LARGE SUM OF MONEY ON. I TOOK DELIVERY OF MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK, 4X4 ON MAY 28, 2014. THE FIRST ISSUE OCCURRED ON JULY 31, 2014 WHEN THE VEHICLE FELT AS THOUGH THE ENGINE DROPPED OUT INTO THE STREET OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD, DISABLING THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY; IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE, NOR WOULD IT SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO GET ONTO THE TOW TRUCK. (THE TRANSMISSION AND EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEMS FAILED) TO MAKE AN INCREDIBLY LONG STORY SHORT...I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME EVENT AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS CONTINUOUSLY OVER A 14 MONTH PERIOD IN REGARD TO FAILURE OF MY EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM AS WELL AS MY TRANSMISSION TO INCLUDE: JERKING SO MUCH THAT MY PURSE FLIES FROM SEAT ONTO FLOORBOARD, JERKING THAT CAUSES MY DAUGHTER TO LUNGE FORWARD INTO THE BACK OF THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT, A STALLED VEHICLE ON BUSY HIGHWAYS AND STREETS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, SUDDEN ENGAGEMENT OF EMERGENCY BRAKE WITH THE INABILITY TO RELEASE THE BRAKE WHILE STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS; I COULD GO ON AND ON. AFTER A TOTAL OF 20+ TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIPS FOR REPAIRS (8-10 OF THESE OF WHICH WERE VIA TOW TRUCK), (3) NEW TRANSMISSIONS, SEVERAL REPAIRS AND MODIFICATIONS TO THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM...MY VEHICLE IS STILL CURRENTLY OUT OF COMMISSION AND NOT IN MY POSSESSION. I RECEIVED A CALL ON TUES. OF THIS WEEK FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO INFORM ME THAT A RESOLUTION WAS MADE; YET ANOTHER TRANSMISSION WOULD BE INSTALLED IN MY DEATH TRAP OF A VEHICLE. (THIS MAKES #4) TO SAY THAT THIS IS CLEARLY THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. SOMETHING DRASTIC NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED.

AFTER LESS THAN A YEAR AND LESS THAN 18K MILES, I WAS TOLD I NEEDED NEW BRAKE ROTORS BECAUSE MINE WERE WARPED. THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT GETTING THEM TOO HOT WILL CAUSE THEM TO WARP. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MANY YEARS AND HAVE NEVER NEEDED BRAKE ROTORS REPLACED, ESPECIALLY AFTER 18K MILES, NOR HAVE I ALTERED MY DRIVING STYLE. MY LAST VEHICLE WENT OVER 100K MILES WITHOUT EVEN NEEDING BRAKE PADS. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE THE BRAKES, NOT THE WAY I DRIVE.

AS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OTHERS, MY JEEP CHEROKEE HAS BRAKE FOR NO APPARENT CAUSE ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE "COLLISION IMMINENT" TONE HAS SOUNDED AT THE SAME TIME. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR LOSS OF CONTROL AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED, BUT IT WAS DISCONCERTING. ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS, THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED, BUT THESE WERE TRIGGERED BY A CAR LEAVING THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT SIDE, TO TURN AT AN ANGLE INTO A STREET THAT BRANCHED OFF THE ROUTE I WAS ON. ALTHOUGH THE CAR WAS CLEARLY OUT OF THE PATH OF THE CAR, APPARENTLY THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM THOUGHT THAT MY CAR WAS CLOSING ON THE OTHER CAR TOO QUICKLY, AND AGAIN SOUNDED THE WARNING AND SLOWED THE CAR DOWN. AGAIN, THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH CONTROL OF THE CAR, AND NO ACCIDENT, ALTHOUGH DRIVERS BEHIND ME HAD TO SLOW DOWN BY ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT. I HAVE LEARNED TO LEAVE SOME EXTRA DISTANCE BETWEEN ME AND CARS TURNING OFF FOR JUST THIS REASON. *TR

I WAS NOTIFIED ON THE RECALL FOR A BRAKE BOOSTER ON 04-1-14 AND ATTEMPTED TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED ON 07-10-14 AND 10-2-14 AT AUTO NATION CHRYSLER LOCATED AT 21027 INTERSTATE 45 SPRING, TEXAS. I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART. I ASKED TO BE PUT ON THE WAITING LIST. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO WAITING LIST AND THEY WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN THE PART COMES IN. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL. I ALSO ATTEMPTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER AND THEY TOTALLY BLEW ME OFF. I FINALLY HAVE THE VEHICLE SCHEDULED FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACEMENT ON 06-08-15. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH THIS DEFECT FOR OVER A YEAR. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY HAVE PARTS FOR TWO OUT OF THE SIX RECALLS MY VEHICLE HAS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND UNSAFE. I DRIVE MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN CHRYSLER AND THEIR DEALERSHIP AUTO NATION. BY NOT HAVING A WAITING LIST THEY HAVE NO DOCUMENTATION OR PAPER TRAIL OF THIS EXTENDED WAIT TO HAVE THESE VEHICLES FIXED. PLEASE HELP ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. *TR
70 MPH ON INTERSTATE HWY, SUDDENLY EMERGENCY BRAKE COMES ON. CAR IMMEDIATELY BRAKES TO 35 MPH BEFORE CAR CAN BE MOVED TO EMERGENCY LANE. MIL LIGHT IS ON, EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT IS ON, TRANSMISSION GEAR LIGHT IS FLASHING, SCREEN COMMAND SAYS "PARK THE CAR, SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND PARKING BRAKE". EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT ON CONSOLE IS OFF. IGNITION TURNED ON AND OFF 6-8 TIMES, TRY TO DRIVE, CAR WON'T MOVE. CYCLING IGNITION AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CAR SUDDENLY STARTS WORKING NORMALLY EXCEPT FOR MIL LIGHT. SCAN REVELS NO CODES. CAR RUNS FINE FOR TWO WEEKS AND AGAIN AT 70 MPH ON INTERSTATE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE COMES ALMOST STOPPING THE CAR IN SLOW LANE. REPEATED THE PROCEDURE REFERENCED ABOVE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES UNTIL THE CAR STARTED RUNNING NORMALLY. MIL WAS ON FOR 50 MILES BUT NO CODES STORED OR FREEZE FRAME. THIS OCCURRED 5 DAYS AFTER HAVING RECALL R05 PERFORMED, RRT 14-040, AND PCM UPDATE. *TR

THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WITH NO INDICATION OR WARNING WHILE DRIVING, STEERING WHEEL LOCKS. IMMEDIATELY AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE BRAKE (HOWEVER THE GEAR IS IN DRIVE) AND BATTERY LIGHT DISPLAYS. I TAKE GEAR OUT OF DRIVE AND PUT IT IN PARK, WAIT A MINUTE OR TWO AT TIMES RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF RESIDENTIAL STREET OR THE END OF A TURN BUT IT ALWAYS OCCUR WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. I HAVE TO CRANK THE IGNITION SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TAPPING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL UNTIL THE ENGINE STARTS, HIT THE BRAKE RELEASE, PUT GEAR BACK IN DRIVE OR AT TIMES NEUTRAL THEN BACK IN DRIVE IN ORDER TO MOVE. THIS OCCURRENCE HAPPENED A FEW TIMES BEFORE REPAIRS AND ABOUT TWO OR THREE TIMES DAILY AFTER TRANSMISSION REPAIRS, AND SOFTWARE UPDATES. WHEN PUSHING DOWN ON BRAKES TO MAKE A STOP THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE (AS IF IT'S CONFUSED WHETHER TO STOP OR GO, ALTHOUGH I'M PRESSING THE BRAKE TO STOP) BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN BACKING UP OR SWITCHING GEARS IT'S A FORCEFUL LOUD JERK BETWEEN SHIFTING GEARS. WHILE DRIVING OUT OF THE BLUE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON (NO RAIN) AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO DISABLE THEM . I PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF WAITING A MOMENT BEFORE RESTARTING THEY CONTINUED TO GO BACK AND FORTH ON A DRY WINDOW THEY STOP ON THEIR OWN ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER. SPEEDOMETER BLANKING IN AND OUT. CAR BURNING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF GAS. PRIOR TO ENGINE SHUT DOWN NO INDICATION OR WARNING MESSAGES HOWEVER AFTER REPAIRS OF TRANSMISSION AND SOFTWARE UPDATES THE ENGINE, THROTTLE, ABS LIGHTS, AND TRANSMISSION SERVICE MESSAGE APPEAR AND DISAPPEAR SIMULTANEOUSLY WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING AS EXPECTED. TIRE PRESSURE DISPLAY INCONSISTENT. *TR

THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AFTER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED FORCEFULLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER DRIVING AT THE SPEED OF 25 MPH AND COMING TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.

WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT IN AN INTERSECTION WHEN MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/SCREEN LIT UP WITH THE FOLLOWING: CEL ON ABS/BRAKE LIGHTS ON SERVICE PARKING BRAKE ON 4X4 SYSTEM DISABLED ODOMETER FLASHING UPON ALL THOSE MESSAGES/LIGHTS COMING ON WE LOST ALL POWER STEERING CONTROL TO THE VEHICLE. SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT FUNCTIONING WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE INTERACTION INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. ONCE SAFELY PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT WE TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TURNED IT BACK ON AGAIN TO THE SAME MESSAGES/LIGHTS TURNING ON. WE REGAINED POWER STEERING AFTER WE TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON BUT ALL OTHER ISSUES PERSISTED. CALLED FOR A TOW BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. CHRYSLER CLAIMED IT WAS A BAD ABS MODULE. I AM FILING A SAFETY COMPLAINT FOR POOR ELECTRICAL DESIGN IF AN ABS MODULE HAS THE ABILITY TO BRING DOWN THE ENTIRE COMPUTER SYSTEM IN THE 2014 CHEROKEE THIS CAN POSE A SERIOUS HAZARD TO ALL VEHICLE OPERATORS. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON A LOW TRAFFIC ROAD GOING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE ERROR WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH HUD AND THE GEAR SELECTOR D WAS FLASHING. ANOTHER WARNING APPEARED IN THE HUD THAT STATED "SERVICE TRANSMISSION", AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND STABILITY CONTROL WARNING LIGHT. AS THIS BEGAN I WAS ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND BEGAN DRIFTING BACKWARD, LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THE ENGINE HAD DIED BUT I COULD STILL HEAR IT WAS ON SO I APPLIED MORE PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL BUT COULDN'T MOVE FORWARD. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND AS I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, ANOTHER WARNING APPEARED STATING THAT I SHOULD PUT IT IN PARK BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT (I WAS IN PARK AT THE TIME) SO I WENT AHEAD AND SHIFTED TO DRIVE BUT THE ENTIRE CAR JERKED AND MADE A VERY LOUD THUD THAT SOUNDED AS IF I WAS SHIFTING INTO ANOTHER GEAR WHILE FLOORING THE GAS PEDAL. WHEN I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GO FORWARD, I COULD BARELY MOVE EVEN THOUGH I WAS APPLYING FULL THROTTLE AND THE RPMS WERE REDLINED. I COULDN'T GO ANY FASTER THAN 15 MPH FOR THE REMAINDER OF MY TRIP (I ONLY HAD A MILE TO GO SINCE I WAS ALMOST HOME) AND THE RPMS STAYED REDLINED FOR ABOUT HALF THAT TIME BUT I WAS NEVER ABLE TO ACCELERATE OVER THAT 15 MPH FOR THE DURATION OF THE TRIP. WHEN I GOT TO MY DRIVEWAY, I PUT IT IN PARK AGAIN AND OPENED THE HOOD AND THE ENGINE WAS IDLING MUCH LOUDER THAN USUAL. *TR

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR A BRAKE BOOSTER IN MAY OF THIS YEAR. I CONTACT MY DEALER AT CHAMPION DODGE, 9655 FIRESTONE BLVD, DOWNEY, CA 90241, (562) 231-3500 AND WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD CALL BACK AT THE END OF JUNE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY BRAKE BOOSTER IN. IT WAS STATED THAT JEEP WAS SLOW IN SENDING OUT THE PARTS AND SO THEY DIDN'T HAVE A TIME FRAME AS TO WHEN THEY WOULD GET THE PART. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT NO OTHER DEALER WOULD HAVE THE PART BECAUSE IT WAS THE SAME SITUATION FOR ALL DEALERS. AT THE END OF JUNE I CONTACTED THE COMPANY AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE MY CAR BROUGHT IN FIRST. THIS WAS NOT TOLD TO ME ORIGINALLY AND SO MORE TIME WAS WASTED AS I NEEDED TO TAKE THE CAR IN FOR THEM TO DETERMINE THAT IT WAS IN FACT THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I TOOK MY CAR IN THAT WEEK AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND MY NAME WOULD BE PUT ON A LIST. IN JULY I CALLED AND ASKED ABOUT THE BRAKE BOOSTER SHIPMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD A LONG LIST AND DIDN'T SEE MY NAME ON THE LIST. SO NOW I AM STILL WAITING. I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE NOW FOR THE SUN VISOR VANITY LAMP. SINCE HAVING THIS CAR I HAVE RECEIVED 3 RECALLS WHICH I HAVE NEVER HAD BEFORE WITH ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. I WILL NOT BE BUYING A JEEP AGAIN. PLEASE ASSIST ME IN EITHER CANCELING OUT THIS LEASE OR HAVING THESE RECALLS FIXED. I HAVE ALSO ALREADY EXPERIENCED THE BRAKES BEING PUT ON BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND IT FLASHES "BRAKE" ON THE DASHBOARD. THANK YOU. *TR
WE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE (P14/NHTSA 14V-154) FROM CHRYSLER SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH OUR DEALER FOR NECESSARY REPAIRS. THE DEALER INFORMS US THAT SPARE PARTS ARRIVE SPORADICALLY AND IN SMALL QUANTITIES. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH CHRYSLER'S RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER ABOUT THEIR TEPID RESPONSE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE AND THEIR NEED TO DRAMATICALLY INCREASE ALLOCATIONS WITH APPROACHING COLD WEATHER. THEIR REPRESENTATIVE WOULD PROVIDE NO ASSURANCES THAT PRODUCTION WOULD BE INCREASED TO MEET DEMAND. I AM ROUGHLY #210 ON THE LIST FOR REPAIRS AT MY DEALERSHIP. ACCORDINGLY I AM REGISTERING A COMPLAINT ABOUT CHRYSLER'S POOR RESPONSE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

JEEP HAS RECALL FOR A SHIELD TO BE PLACED OVER BRAKE BOOSTER. WHILE INSPECTING DEALER FOUND THAT MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER HAS A LEAK. INFORMED BY DEALER WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS I WOULD HAVE LOST ALL BREAKS WHILE DRIVING. PART IS ON BACK ORDER WHICH SEEMS VERY STRANGE. HAVE CHECKED AROUND THE COUNTY AND NO ONE HAS THIS PART AND EVERYONE SHOWS AN EXPECTED SHIPPING FROM THE MANUFACTURE NOT UNTIL SEPTEMBER. THIS COULD BE A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM FOR JEEP. THIS IS THE SECOND RECALL THAT WE HAVE HAD ON THIS VEHICLE IN LESS THAN A YEAR. HERE IS THE NEW REAL INFORMATION. SUMMARY: CHRYSLER GROUP LLC (CHRYSLER) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND DODGE DURANGO VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 5, 2010, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 8, 2013. THE SUBJECT VEHICLES HAVE A BRAKE BOOSTER WITH A CENTER SHELL THAT MAY CORRODE AND ALLOW WATER TO GET INSIDE. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THEY WILL CHECK THE BREAK BOOSTER, BUT IF THERE IS NO CORROSION, THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT. HERE IS MY QUESTION. WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE ISN'T ANY CORROSION NOW WHEN IT'S CHECKED, BUT IT BECOMES CORRODED 6-12 MONTHS LATER? I DON'T FORESEE THE DEALERSHIP TELLING US TO COME IN EVERY MONTH TO CHECK IT OUT. SO WE JUST HAVE TO PLUG ALONG DRIVING EVERY DAY UNSURE IF OUR BRAKES WILL WORK OR NOT. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND MAJORLY UNSAFE. I BELIEVE THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD REPLACE THE PART EVEN IF THERE IS NO CORROSION! PERIOD. THIS IS THE KIND OF STUFF THAT LEADS TO MAJOR LAWSUITS AFTER ACCIDENTS. *TR
