4wd overheating. Owned this Jeep for 8 years and had it in multiple (5x plus) times for service 4wd code. 2 different dealerships cannot fix the issue. Now they are telling me just drive it and not worry about it or trade it in. It smells hot and something burning. I have the life time max care warranty on it. The codes I get are the 4wd is unavailable overheated and service 4wd. They have replaced multiple parts and still not working. I will be just sitting idle and it comes on.

Vehicle was driving and working just as it should, up until two mornings ago, I start the jeep, shifted into gear and it got stuck in neutral. Service parking brake came on, traction control claims to be on even after pushing the button a couple different times to try and disengage it, odometer flashes when car is fully on(not in acc mode), check engine light is on. Battery was recently replaced and is good so it’s not the battery. Jeep still starts, but is still stuck in neutral as of yesterday morning(9-23-2025).
Transmission issue, vehicle bucks or jolts when accelerating appears there is a recall for this but my VIN shows I am not recalled but other 2015 Jeep Cherokees were affected. How can I get this fixed since it was a recall? Cooling goes in and out. This was a recall and it said it was repaired back in 2015 but since 2015 the year I bought the car, I have experienced cooling issues. I bought my car brand new.
On [XXX] I was leaving a Nebraska residence to return to Montana. During the trip I had to stop on the highway because the lift gate released and flew open at 55 mph. At that time I pulled over and the gate would not close. I tried several times to close it and so did other drivers who stopped to help me. At that time the resolution was to disconnect the battery and then reconnect. This helped. Upon returning home there was discussion with other drivers on my policy that stated they have had the same issue on prior dates in the last 6 months. The lift gate mechanism has been recalled and replaced on this vehicle on two occasions but the latching mechanism is the issue for this vehicle. To unlatch while in transit and not relatch make it a hazard. Conversations with local shops do not result in a resolution. After driving a vehicle for a few minutes the lights will flash pretty badly, the service transmission light comes on, on the dash and the car enters limp mode, and the fan comes on, you are unable to move the vehicle it will not go forward or backwards. The vehicle runs perfectly smooth until this happens without warning. Additionally, the service air bag light came on, on the dash but if you turn the car off and back on the lights will go away and you can resume activity as usual. The cars lights and horn goes crazy even when you are not in the vehicle or driving it and does not have to be on when it does this. Now the vehicle has a service engine light on and diagnostics have been done and one part has been changed but this did not resolve the issue which was a purge solenoid and the oil filter housing which also did not resolve the issue. This vehicle is very dangerous to drive as it will go into limp mode while driving it.

The vehicle was recalled but it's been six months and the part is still not available and we are unable to renew the registration due to the part not being available.
My parking brake turned on by itself when I started my 2015 Jeep Cherokee and would not turn off. The parking brake light also came on. It is available for inspection. My safety and others safety was put at risk because my car could have stopped running while I was driving. I will be taking it to my local Jeep dealership to have it looked at. I have had a mechanic look at it but was told he could not fix it.
Door latch mechanism doesn't work under 32 degrees. Have been both locked out of and in vehicle. Once the door opens it will not latch to close. I took it to my local dealer Empire Jeep and they jammed grease in the door latch in 2023 which seemed to work for the season but again this year they did the same and that quick fix no longer works. Now I have to take it in to have the door torn apart, estimated time 2 hours and approximately $200.00 for labor. Why do I have to pay this if this is solely a Jeep issue? I've never had this happen to any other vehicle I've owned.
On approximately [XXX], I got a warning notification on my console that said "4 wheel drive needs to be serviced". We took our vehicle immediately into the Lithia Ram of Tri Cities Ram Dealership in Kennewick Washington and was told they will order the part. We did not hear from them and my husband went back to the dealership in two weeks and they told us that we had an appointment with them that morning for them to run a diagnostic on our 2015 Jeep. We did not know that (their employee had forgotten to write it on his business card) and they had forgotten to tell us of that appointment. They rescheduled for 2 weeks later for August 29, 2024. They ran the diagnostic on the car and was advised it was a recall on a ptu on the 4 wheel drive unit. They said we could drive it, but no more than 50 miles. I now drive this vehicle very little because I am afraid that the transmission will fail. We have patiently waited and was advised the part would be in on November 20, 2024. We text them today and was told that they they apologize for the delay in ordering the part and the ptu part is pending January 15, 2025 now to submit an order. They blame Chrysler for the delay of getting the ptu part. The warning notification comes up on my front screen that the "4 wheel drive needs to be serviced" when I drive the car less than one half a mile to the grocery store. I am very afraid that the transmission will fail when I am crossing a busy street and will be hit by another car. I will stop driving my car. I never received a recall notice. UNKNOWN Over the past year, my vehicle has unexpectedly stalled on the highway while traveling at high speeds. This alarming situation has occurred multiple times, leaving me and my passengers in precarious circumstances. Luckily I have been able to avoid hitting other vehicles while moving to the roadside. I believe these incidents are linked to a manufacturing defect within the transmission system, a concern for many Jeep Cherokee owners. For instance, numerous reports on forums like Jeep Forum and NHTSA's website detail similar experiences, with owners describing sudden stalls and transmission issues resulting in dangerous situations. I originally brought my vehicle in on June 21, 2023, where a diagnostic was performed. Jeep recommended repairing the cooling system and changing additional parts, which we did with our trusted mechanic at a cost of $972.37. Unfortunately, the problem of stalling persists. We took the car to the Jeep Dealership and now on October 24, 2024, Jeep has sent me a list of repairs needed totally $9516 to again supposedly fix the issue of the car stalling while driving. The 2015 Jeep Cherokee should now be on the road. I feel strongly that the car should be recalled. Regardless of the fact that the car is no longer under warranty, I have maintained the car with proper maintenence and this should not be happening to any car.
Good morning. I am contacting you in regards to my 2015 Jeep Cherokee. In summary, I am having issues with the transmission and upon further investigation I believe the issue is identical/related to recall campaign 16V529000. It was recalled before for water getting into the trunk causing electrical issues(even fires). I brought it to a dealership to have it fixed, water is still getting into my vehicle. Dealership said there is nothing we can do since the recall is gone.
There is an active cylinder 2 misfire recall on 2015 jeep Cherokee. Our vehicle has been in the shop for about 3 days now. And the cylinder 2 misfire is still happening. We would like our vin looked into. To be added to the recall. The misfire appears to be happening in idle.
I’m not sure what component failed as it is linked to many. My 4 wheel drive is out. The differential pump needs to be replaced. It is available for inspection. My safety was put at risk by my car slipping and I drove into a curb thankfully no one was hurt! I took it into my repair shop and it was confirmed the differential pump needs to be replaced. None of the federal employees had to investigate the car as it wasn’t in an accident. There is a 4 month wait time to get my part so this must be an issue with lots of jeep owners! My service 4 wheel drive light would go on and off when hitting bumps a week before this happened. It still goes on and off as I can’t get it replaced because I cannot obtain the part because it’s on back order for four months! Please help us keep owners get this problem resolved!
I was notified of the recall on my Jeep :safety recall campaign 49A/23V-338 I took time off work to bring it due to the dealership never having business hours outside of 9-5 ( I work the same ). I was told that the part needed was not available and they had no projected time frame to fix it . Now fast forward to yesterday I get another card for the same thing . At least 7 months passed I guess the good thing is my car hasn’t burned but if this is urgent why do big companies get away with doing nothing . This make has had multiple recalls in the few years I had it .
The service shifter light comes on intermittently on my 2015 jeep Cherokee latitude. Service shifter light comes on dash and all lights on the shifter assembly are solid red. The service shifter light will not go off until the car is turned off and back on. It causes the heads up display to be blocked until the vehicle is turned off to reset the lights. The transmission feels like it is missing a gear or slipping between gears just before the service shifter light comes on. It does not have a solid time that it comes on. You can be driving down the road and it just comes on or you can be putting the car into reverse and it comes on. The jumper and bezel along with the shifter assembly has been replaced 2 times already. The first time it was replaced at my cost on April 8, 2022. The second time was replaced on November 30, 2023. My vehicle will be going into the dealership again because the service shifter light has come on again on July 14, 2024. This is a known issue and no one is doing anything about it after 90 plus complaints have already been filed with you.
I've done searches with Carfax and there's 4 or more recalls on my Jeep but it's not wanting to do anything now it won't even start I just drove it and the night before and I believe there's an electrical problem a transmission problem and I don't know what else and yes the car Financial Place knows about it and the place where I bought it from
Liftgate sometimes works and sometimes does not, having to "reset" defective liftgate by pulling fuse and disconnecting battery and let set overnight
Transfer case recall. 2015 not included. Vehicle has 65,000 miles, looks new, no trailer hitch. First detected [XXX]. Still no part available, Jeep US not helpful, apparently "expedited " part three times. Clearly a manufacturer defect on all vehicles affected and should be covered. Jeep should pay for the part at this point and provide a vehicle while I am waiting, over two months since I was told to replace the part still no results. Car cannot be driven. Brakes can fail with this malfunctioning transfer case. Goss Dodge South Burlington VT has been very good it is out of their hands waiting for the part as well. Clearly it is a huge issue on these vehicles if the part is still not available. No warning signs, just got a "noise" in the front end. Jeep has failed to correct the recall from May 2023 due to the powered lift gate module even though the recall states that a vehicle fire may occur. Since Feb 10 I have not been able lower the lift gate without manually pushing it down and it will not lock. Dealer has no answer and Chrysler says they have not fix yet. Fire? The recall states to not park inside a building. I think this is serious enough
Randomly an audible alarm sounds and the dash indicates "Service Shifter" while the digital dashboard indicators do not allow to navigate away from that notice, and all of the lights on the transmission indicators illuminate. I called the dealer and they said they were aware of issues with that, but no recall exists. I Googled the "Service Shifter" and my model vehicle and apparently it's a larger problem than the Dealer indicated on the phone. I was advised to turn the vehicle off, open the door, close the door, and restart the vehicle. The error cleared but later intermittently reappears.
Our 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is being recalled for transmission and power lift gate. These parts cannot be fixed because the parts are not avaiable. Also they updated the navigation and UCONNECT and vehicles 2015-2018 are not eligible for the update. They changed from 3G to 4G. And our Jeep is not qualified. We went to another car dealer and were told because of the recalls which they have many on their lot, we were offered only 7000 dollars for trade. Because of the recalls, we need to get another vehicle.
The service shifter light came on and there is an issue with that with Jeep cars.
It has multiple errors on the vehicle. What the dealership did find was a short circuit on the PTU (power transfer unit module). When the PTU short circuited it took out the DTCM (drivetrain control module).and it needs to replace .
On 2 different occasions in the past three weeks, the vehicle has stalled while driving. The instrument panel flashed a Parking Brake Warning each time and then the warning went off. The instrument panel also flashed a transmission warning twice. Each time were driving in traffic when the car just shut off. We took it to the local dealership, they reset the transmission and sent the car home. The car did the same thing 3 more times since the "fix". It has since been towed back to the dealership for repairs.
The recall on my vehicle has still not been remedied, nor have I received any information in regards to this recall outside of news coverage and my own checking.
The following NHTSA Recall Number23V-338 was issued on May 11, 2023 and has not yet been resolved. The manufacturer is stating that parts are not available. It is pertinent that the manufacturer be pressured to provide the final resolution to this issue immediately as the risk for fire is extremely high.
When it rains water leaks into my cargo area filling up my spare tire well. it also soakes the insulation in the sides of vehicle. It has cause a short in the rear ligts on vehicle which I am not sure but could cause a fire or electrical failure. Has there been any recalls for such . Last occured on or about
I've read all of these complaints online about issues with the same situation that I'm having issues with. Everyone that owns a Jeep is having the same issue. With the service shifter light, it comes on often after 12000 miles. Being put on the vehicle in everyone's statement is the same. What is it going to take for someone to look within this issue? To see why our service shifter light keeps coming on. After so many miles, I have had this issue serviced in the last three years 3 times. Why isn't the complaints enough for this to go into a recall status. It is unsafe for us to keep driving our families around in these vehicles And this issue keeps coming about what if this issue starts, causing other issues within the vehicle? To shut off, while were on the road driving to our destinations. How and when what? We get a piece of mind from having to deal with this situation, Day in and Day Out. If any proof of this situation is needed to be shown, there is no pictures in my phone only proof I have is through the dealership who's had the replace it 3 times
Service at Jeep Cherokee dealership is telling me my PTU needs to be replaced in my 2015 Jeep Cherokee. There is a recall for the PTU on similar jeeps from 2014 to 2018, but mine is not in the recall. It seems mine should be, as a similar issue.
Received safety recall notice in June 2023. Signed up 6/30/2023 Ref # 85688012 to be notified of when defect for power liftgate module would be fixed. May lead to vehicle fire with the ignition on or off. Still shows remedy is not currently available. Thought it would be corrected by the end of July. This problem has not been addressed in a timely matter.
On August 11th, 2023, at approximately 12:50 pm, I drove my 2015 Jeep Cherokee into my houses’ garage and parked. I went inside my house to meet an air conditioning repairman. No sooner than a minute or two had passed that I immediately heard noises coming from my garage.The noises sounded like mechanical in nature. It almost sounded like a washing machine agitating. I opened my side door of the garage and saw a plum of grey smoke billowing from the engine’s hood. Then I saw what looked like sparks and very small flames coming from underneath the front engine. Within a split second, I got into my car and turned on the ignition. I saw no lights on the dashboard indicating that I had a problem. I proceeded to pull the car out of the driveway (the garage door was already up) and exited the car as quickly as I could. Within seconds the flame grew larger. I then called 911 while waiting on the front lawn. I had 2 dogs inside the that I considered were safe. The police came first and then two fire trucks. By that point, the Jeep was completed engulfed in flames including the tires.The fire started in the front of the vehicle and worked its way back. The firemen distinguished the fire which took about 30 minutes from beginning to end. The heat from the fire melted the siding over my two car garage (garage is attached to the house) as well as the siding to right hand side of the home. Glass and debris began to catch fire and pop and spit into the yard. Let me just say that I’m a breast cancer survivor still going through treatment and was at home alone at the time when this happened as my husband was out of town. I’m not in 100% back to my old shelf. I’m absolutely in shock and devastated over the loss of the car. And I’m in more shock to think what would have happened if I hadn’t had the foresight to pull the car out of the driveway. I’m simply devastated.
I am complaining regarding an unresolved recall issue. Its been since May 2023, initial publication said it would be resolved by the end of the 2nd quarter now they are not saying when it will be resolved.

While we were driving to the store, the front sunroof popped and then exploded. Glass shards fell onto my husband and myself and the loud bang sounded like a gun.
My 2015 Jeep haslocked up on me twice now. The power brake system comes on automatic and I cannot accelerate. The first time it happened it about threw me into the windshield. This second time it jerked me forward. It has been in the dealership once to fix the problem. Now it has done it again. The warning lights come on the dash as power brake system malfunction, check engine soon, do not engage and put vehicle in park and several other warnings.
I received a recall notice from JEEP for "2.4L In-use NOx - catalyst efficiency". When I call the number provided (847) 649-6660, they tell me they don't have the part in stock and to call back in 3 weeks. After months of this repeated process I called JEEP's main customer service number and they basically told me too bad and gave me a bunch of different numbers to call but all of them tell me there's nothing they can do and its possible that I can go to another state or that they might be able to get the parts by December at one of the Illinois locations. I can't make a scheduled appointment or be put on a wait list. These Jeep dealerships are purposely putting people in safety risk because they don't make money doing the recall and are getting away with it by saying "we don't have the parts, call back in a month" knowing people will get frustrated and never get it done.
My alternator went out and was replaced and while in doing they said my gear shifter broke and when they tried to replace it that the new one broke too. My parking brake and check engine light are now on and they are not sure why.
The vehicle lift gate gets stuck, and will not open or close properly via the button. I have to manually close it.
Car will shut down on the free way. Car will go 65 MPH and suddenly give out. The car will be on but the engine will be off. Car will turn off anywhere at any time. I bought a new PCM and issue is still occurring. Car is in great condition but won’t start properly and feel scared for my life when I have to drive it.
1 - Two piece lug bolts, swollen due to poor design, causing unsafe conditions rendering OEM provided tools unusable to conduct emergency roadside tire change/repair. 2 - UCONNECT emergency vehicle connectivity not maintained by manufacturer after 3G network retired, rendering installed safety equipment inoperable.
A few months after i got the car, a bump feels at first gear before 2nd gear starts, its been doint it till today, a vibration started a year ago, it hasn't gone away, power steering went out year and a half ago or so, its electrical so i had to change the whole part, went car is turned off you can hear the vibration sound for a second, some mechanics say the motor mounts are worn out, who kmows. For 2015 to have theese problems? I have older cars and dont have these problems, wonder what these can be. Guess just bad car and still paying it, good thing its still runs, just hoping not to break the road.
Vehicle was parked at 10pm. Vehicle ignition was off. Vehicle was locked. Nothing left on. No one returned to the car for annything. Approximately 3 and half hours later, electrical fire started inside the drivers side rear quarter panel under the taillight (on the body, not the taillight on the lift gate) . By the time the car alarm was heard, the fire was spreading from the panel into the rest rear of the vehicle. Fire department arrived and extinguished the fire.

UNKNOWN I had to jump my vehicle due to battery dying out. Once jumped, I received a warning that my electrical emergency park brake malfunctioned. I had trouble shifting gears if I could get them to shift at all. I could hear and feel grinding beneath the jeep. Looking deeper into this it was discovered that there is a vehicle investigation (pending potential recall) on water leaking inside the vehicle to be causing corrosion leading to the E Break module to fail in my specific model. I eventually got the vehicle towed to the dealership. Their service department claimed I may have spilled drinks into my module. I do not buy drinks or carry any in my vehicle cupholders (which are placed by design right behind the gear shift module). Nothing was spilled, the damage is consistent with the common issue pending investigation #PE22009. I am currently awaiting a complete transmission replacement due to the defect.
I am not completely certain which of the above selected items is the cause of my vehicle malady, though I have been instructed by a mechanic that it could be the drive train maybe (I could be misremembering). At any rate, the vehicle stalls at random intervals, without advance notification of a problem. No warning light or sound is produced until the moment it stalls at which time a warning sound without accompanying light is produced. The vehicle will stall regardless of whether or not it has been pre-heated, despite the season/weather, and has stalled while I was in the midst of turning left against oncoming traffic with my SON in the car! The vehicle replicated this behavior during a mechanic’s test drive following a break line repair. He indicated it may be the above mentioned issue. All information can be provided upon request. I have researched this issue and have found it to be fairly prevalent among owners of this specific vehicle. If stalling while making a left turn against oncoming traffic (when an opportunity presents itself) does not present a significant safety hazard and/or concern then perhaps I’m more confused than I had previously thought. What happens when someone stalls on a train track or on the interstate? In addition to the afore mentioned concerns, something with electrical component is defective. It wasn’t long after the earlier mentioned complications began that my interior lights began dimming and brightening independently and my redio screen stopped listing song, program, podcast, radio station, information etc. Thank you for your consideration.
Was driving home for lunch and stopped at traffic light. Parking brake self-engaged and would not release. I could not move the car in either direction. Repeated attempted to get parking brake to release by pushing/pulling on switch. Finally turned off car (sitting in moving traffic) and when I restarted the brake released. Was able to get car home and parked. Called my regular mechanic and got it in yesterday, but again brake wouldn't release (it had not been set) without turning car off and on. When my repair shop took the components apart, it revealed that water had leaked down into the computer system that controls the parking brakes (had various flashing lights on dash -- odometer/stop/start signal, etc.) and damaged the circuitry. The repair shop called to explain this problem and noted that NHTSA had begun and investigation into this problem in July and had about 80 cases under investigation at that time -- apparently a body-weld issue causing leak into that component. Prior to this locking up, a service parking brake light had come on intermittently for a couple of days. My wife and I were both at risk and just fortunate this didn't lock up while on the interstate which we drive regularly. Have called local Jeep dealer where we bought it and they claim they have heard nothing about this and the earliest we can get in is 10/18. Our mechanic has temporarily disabled the parking brake (both electronically and mechanically) so that the vehicle is drivable, but said he wouldn't advise driving on it very long this way, due to the other warning components that are now compromised.
I am not sure if it is my PTU system but my vehicle shuts off when I am at a stop or idling. It is very unsafe to drive and could cause collision. I took it to a local shop and the owner said the scanner read nothing! Something is wrong if my car continues to completely shut off while in drive.
I have had issues with the front end (wheels/suspension/drive train) doing a severe wobble, which has gotten worse over the years, since mid 2016. It started when my Jeep only had approximately 45,000 miles on it. It is worse when I am going at speeds of 55 mph and over, when in a curve and when hitting a bump/pothole. It is so bad at times that it feels as though the front end of the car is going to come off. This is a hazard when driving and I am concerned that eventually myself or someone else is going to get seriously injured or worse. I have told the dealership service departments, that I have been to over the years, about it and they can never seem to recreate the issue nor find any problems. One of these individuals went as far as to say, "it is supposed to do that, that is how it corrects itself" (which I do not believe for a minute).
3g sprint went away in the middle of January this year 2022..So did the uconnect 911 safety button, which means when a emergency happens there is NO way to get help now..jeep/uconnect has NO update NO fix to the problem..this is a safety issue in my opinion.. also the app does not work and you can not remote start, lock or unlock your car which also could be a safety issue in a bad situation.. I have contacted jeep FCA and unconnect and they dont seen to care..buy a new car they said..

Service shifter light is on all the time. Not sure why or what is happening. There is a notification on the dash that just says "service shifter' and all the lights are red by the gear shifter.

The Transmission is making a grinding noise when I attempt to shift it. It will not go into any gear. This happened without any incidents. I was attempting to start it from inside my garage to leave.
Purchased 2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Dec 1, 2020 & Sept 2021 discovered something wrong with transmission, mechanic researched jeep & said previously there was a RECALL- TCM- transfer case reflash module, dealership/ manufacturer will not response to my calls to help with this problem.

When I go to pull out of a street The car just stop. I have my feet on the gas but it will not move, once I am in the street and also while in traffic it will not move even when foot on the gas I tried to explain to them at the car dealer where I took it. But I was charged 600 bucks for something else I guess this car is dangerous very dangerous I done almost had so many near missed accidents with this vehicle.
Didn't cause an incident yet but I don't know if it could. The start/stop thing keeps becoming unavailable.
Vehicle shut off while driving, happen twice in the middle of the road. No warning signs. Took to auto shop to tell me its electrical issues, only dealership can fix it but I got charged $220 dollar. Seeing multiple complaint of same issue but there is no recall.
MY 4WD UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND A LOUD KNOCKING/GRINDING SOUND AND SENSATION OCCURRED. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALER. I WAS TOLD THERE IS AN ISSUE BUT NO RECALL YET. ONCE AT THE MECHANIC, HE TOLD ME THAT MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL EXPLODED AND SHATTERED THE CASE AND THERE WAS FLUID EVERYWHERE. IT BREAKS CAUSING A LEAK WHICH THEN THE OIL POOLS BY THE ENGINE CAUSING THE OIL TO GET HOT AND BURN. THE BURNING STARTED AFTER DRIVING LONG ENOUGH TO HEAT THE MOTOR. THE FIX IS A $600 TO $700 FIX. THE MECHANIC AND DEALER ALSO MENTIONED THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN POPPING UP IN NEWER AND USED JEEPS AND IS A COMMON PROBLEM NO MATTER HOW NEW OR OLD THE JEEP IS.

WHEN I PARKED, THERE WAS FLUID SPILLING OUT OF THE DIFFERENTIAL AND SPLATTERED OVER THE REAR OF THE JEEP. THE DEALER STRIPPED A PLUG; WASNT SEATED CORRECTLY AND POPPED OFF FROM PRESSURE. SINCE THEN, I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER ISSUES CONCERNING THE DRIVETRAIN TO INCLDE HARD JUMPING INTO GEAR (ESPECIALLY INTO 1ST FROM A STOP), ROUGH DOWN SHIFT, AND TRANSFER CASE DAMAGE. MOST RECENT ISSUE IS HARD SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND RADIATOR LEAK. I DID TAKE HER IN BEFORE MY POWERTRAIN WARRANY RAN OUT BUT THERE WAS APPARENTLY NO ISSUE - THEY ONLY DROVE IT A FEW MILES. I ATTRIBUTE ALL ISSUES TO INCOMPLETE MAINTENECE AND UNKNOWLEDGABLE STAFF. THE MAIN ISSUE BEING COMPUTERS; WHEN NOT SERVICED PROPERLY, A CHAIN REACTION OCCURS THROUGOUT COMPONENTS. EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE WILL JOLT AND THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON PUTTING IT IN A LIMP MODE WITH LITTLE FORWARD MOMENTUM WHEN PRESSING THE GAS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY SAID IT WAS A SHIFTER COMPONENT AND THEY WERE ORDERING A BEZEL TO INSTALL AT A VERY EXPENSIVE COST. EVERY JEEP FORUM SHOWS THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AND I THINK IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.

MY AUTOMATIC REAR HATCH STOPPED WORKING AFTER A SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER FROM A COOLER LEAKED IN MY "TRUNK". PER JEEP BLOG, ANOTHER GRAND CHEROKEE OWNER WROTE: DEALER'S SERVICE WRITER IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME THAT 85% OF THE TIME WHEN THE A/C GOES OUT IN THIS VEHICLE IT'S THE EVAPORATOR INSIDE THE CAR BEHIND THE DASH. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION BY THE REPAIR TECHNICIAN THAT'S WHAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAPPENS DAILY, SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF IT'S CURRENT GEAR WHILE IN MOTION WHICH IS A MASSIVE LIABILITY AND DANGER TO EVERYONE ON THE ROAD. I HAD THE SHIFTER REPLACED AT 27,000 MILES AND THE WARNING LIGHT RETURNED AGAIN AT 40,000 MILES. THERE IS NOW AN "ELECTRICAL" WIRING ISSUE. AFTER RESEARCH, IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND CERTAIN ASPECTS WERE RECALLED BUT NOT THE ENTIRE SHIFTER. IF I WERE TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED WHEN THE SHIFTER LOCKED UP I WOULD BE DEAD. EACH TIME THE WARNING APPEARS, YOU MUST PULL OVER WITHIN A MINUTE OR SO BEFORE IT LOCKS UP, TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARS AND THE CAR OPERATES NORMAL FOR A SHORT TIME. I TRIED TO CONTACT JEEP/CHRYSLER DIRECTLY AND EXPLAIN THERE WAS A BIGGER PROBLEM BUT THEY WOULDNT LISTEN. DAYS LATER, I STOPPED FOR GAS, SHUT OFF THE CAR AND FILLED THE TANK. WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR WOULDNT START. I KEPT TRYING TO TURN IT ON BUT IT WOULDNT MAKE A SOUND. FINALLY, AFTER ABOUT 25 MINUTES THE CAR TURNED ON. I TRIED TO SHIFT INTO GEAR BUT IT SHIFTED HARD AND SOUNDED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING TO DROP. THE CAR WOULDNT MOVE. TOWED THE CAR TO DEWEY DODGE. THEY FLASHED IT, TOLD ME IT WAS FINE, AND MADE ME COME GET IT AND WOULDNT LOOK FURTHER. 24 HOURS LATER, I WAS STRANDED AGAIN, CAR WOULDNT START. TOWED IT AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE BATTERY, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY TOLD ME THEY DID A 27PT INSPECTION AND IT WAS FINE A DAY PRIOR... THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 2 MONTHS. ONCE I GOT IT BACK, I HAD IT FOR ONLY A FEW DAYS AND I WAS STUCK AGAIN. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES THE CAR TURNED ON, AND I WAS ABLE TO TRY TO DRIVE HOME. WHILE ON HIGHWAY, SERVICE SHIFTER APPEARED AGAIN. DEWEY REPLACES THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE SHIFTER AGAIN. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE EVEN THOUGH MULTIPLE ONLINE FORUMS HAVE A COLLECTION OF PEOPLE DETAILING THE SAME PROBLEMS!

WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING (APPROXIMATELY 5-5:30AM), THE CAR BECAME NON-FUNCTIONAL AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FLICKERED WITH WARNING LIGHTS APPEARING. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURRED WITH NO OUTSIDE FORCES OR FACTORS TO CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND THE CAR STALLED IMMEDIATELY, WHILE STILL MOVING. THE ELECTRICAL WAS ON AND DISPLAY WORKED, HOWEVER; THE CAR WOULD NOT GO AT ALL. THE CAR BEHIND HER HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES AND LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. HAD IT BEEN ANY LATER IN THE DAY OR ON A BUSY, MAJOR HIGHWAY; I FEAR IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. WE HAVE NOW BROUGHT IT TO A DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY CANNOT GET TO THE CAR FOR AT LEAST TWO (2) WEEKS WITH NO LOANER CARS AVAILABLE. WE WERE ADVISED TO CALL JEEP DIRECTLY AND GO OVER THE SITUATION AND THEY OFFERED NO HELP AT ALL BUT TO *POTENTIALLY* REIMBURSE RENTAL COSTS WHILE THE CAR WOULD BE REPAIRED (MUCH LATER AFTER THE RENTAL NEEDS TO BE PAID). THIS IS OUR SECOND JEEP AND I AM ABSOLUTELY DISSATISFIED WITH THIS AS THIS COULD HAVE COST MY FIANCEE HER LIFE AND THE LIFE OF OTHERS. WE NOW DO NOT KNOW THE BEST PATH FORWARD AND ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A SOLUTION TO EITHER REPAIR OR REPLACE THE VEHICLE. MAYBE LEGAL ACTION IS REQUIRED. THE FIRST OCCURENCE WAS FRIDAY 7/13 AT A STOP SIGN JUST SHORTLY AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE; THE NEXT SATURDAY 7/14 AT A STOP SIGN AFTER HAVING DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 17MILES ON A FREEWAY. THIS TIME IT WAS DIFFICULT TO START AND THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE. THEN WEDNESDAY 7/18 I DON'T RECALL THE CONDITIONS. THEN ON FRIDAY JULY 20 IT STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR. THE ISSUE CONTINUES. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO PATTERN - HAS HAPPENED WHEN FIRST STARTING THE VEHICLE, AFTER HAVING DRIVEN FOR SEVERAL MILES - SO IS NOT A "COLD" OR "HOT" ENGINE PROBLEM. WE THOUGHT IT MIGHT GO AWAY IF WE GOT NEW TIRES, HAD FIRESTONE AT & WE BOUGHT MICHELIN DEFENDER LTX DUE TO LOW NOISE OF TIRE. NO LUCK, NOISE IS STILL THERE. WE GO TO DEALER FOR ALL SERVICE & ARE TOLD ITS A JEEP THING, REALLY? THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED, PLEASE LOOK INTO IT AS WE ARE SLOWLY LOSING OUR HEARING. IT STARTED MAKING THIS NOISE IN 2015, BOUGHT IN JANUARY 2015 AND CONTINUES TO THIS VERY DAY, JULY 16, 2028. I HATE THIS CAR & FOR $40,000 IT SHOULD BE A HECK OF A LOT BETTER. AGAIN WE CONTACT THE DEALER ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE. THE SHIFTING HAPPENS GENERALLY WHEN GOING IN BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 5-35 MPH. IT'S BECOMING SCARY TO DRIVE AS WE JERK WHILE IN MOTION.

WHATEVER IS HAPPENING TO THE SHIFTER IS DRAINING MY BATTERY.

ONE TIME THEY DID SOFTWARE UPDATE. DID NOT SOLVE PROBLEM. THE NEXT TWO VISITS THE TECHNICIAN SAID THEY DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEMS DURING TEST DRIVE. IT SEEMS TO BE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THAT IS MAIN PROBLEM--BUT THERE IS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE RADIO. WHEN ON AM, IT SOUNDS AS IF THERE IS SOMEONE INSIDE THE RADIO HAMMERING WITH A HAMMER. AGAIN, DEALER DID NOT EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING.

THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND SOMETIMES SKIPS GEARS. IT WILL SHIFT VERY LATE AND DO A JOLT AND IT FEELS LIKES I WAS HIT BY ANOTHER CAR, GIVES A SLIGHT WHIPLASH FEELING TO THE PASSENGERS. SOMETIMES WHEN I GO FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE THE BACK WHEELS LOCK UP AND THE BACK HALF OF THE CAR LOWERS TO THE GROUND WHILE THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE RISES. THE VEHICLE ALSO SOMETIMES ACCELERATES ON ITS' OWN WHEN I DON'T HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS. I CAN BE DRIVING AT ANY POINT AROUND 20-30MPH AND MY RPMS WILL JUMP TO 3000+ AND THE ENGINE MAKES LOUD NOISES LIKE IT IS BEING OVERWORKED TO GO 20 MPH AND IT WILL STAY LIKE THAT FOR A GOOD 4-8 SECONDS. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS HAVE DRASTICALLY DECREASED THE MPG MY CAR GETS. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THE "START/STOP" FEATURE ALSO HAS MANY PROBLEMS. IF I FORGET TO TURN IT OFF I CAN BE AT A RED LIGHT AND ONCE IT TURNS GREEN I LET GO OF THE BRAKE AND GO TO HIT THE GAS AND THE CAR IS STILL IN THE PROCESS OF STARTING BACK UP, TAKES ANYWHERE BETWEEN 1-3 SECONDS TO STARTUP. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET INTO SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR ANYMORE. IT WAS FINE UP UNTIL ABOUT 30,000 MILES, BUT IT HAS GONE DOWN HILL SINCE THEN. I AM AT ABOUT 45,000 MILES RIGHT NOW.
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW FROM AUTO NATION CHRYSLER JEEP & DODGE IN ROSEVILLE, CALIFORNIA ON APRIL 19, 2015, TO TOW FOUR WHEELS DOWN BEHIND OUR MOTORHOME. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS READY TO TOW WITH A TOUCH OF A BUTTON. ON TWO OCCASIONS WE HAVE EXPERIENCED A SEVERE FRONT WHEEL WOBBLE WHILE TOWING THE VEHICLE, LUCKILY AT SLOW SPEEDS DOWN THE ROAD. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG. WE ARE BEING TOLD THAT WE NOW HAVE TO HAVE A SPECIAL WIRING HARNESS INSTALLED ON OUR VEHICLE TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND IT IS AT OUR COST. THE COST OF THIS WIRING HARNESS AND INSTALLATION IS OVER $700.00. WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. THE DEALER HAS STATED THAT THEY HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT CHRYSLER/JEEP FOR AN ANSWER. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FOR SIX WEEKS NOW, WITH STILL NO ANSWER. WE ARE NOW COMING UP ON OUR TRAVELING TIME AND CAN NOT TOW OUR CAR AND GO ON ANY TRIPS DUE TO THE LIABILITY OF THIS SITUATION. THIS 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS THE 2-SPEED TRANSFER UNIT, AND WAS SOLD AS FLAT TOWABLE, AND MANUAL SO STATES THAT FACT. THE MANUFACTURER MADE THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM ELECTRIC RATHER THAN MECHANICAL. IN 2017 AFTER MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CHEROKEE NOT TRACKING WHILE BEING TOWED BEHIND THE MOTORHOME AND CAUSING A SEVERE LEFT TO RIGHT WOBBLE BEHIND THE MOTORHOME, JEEP ISSUED A REVISION TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL (S-13). IT STATES THAT A FLAT-TOW WIRING KIT SHOULD BE INSTALLED, BUT JEEP WANTS THE PART AND LABOR TO INSTALL THIS KIT TO BE PAID BY THE JEEP OWNER, NOT BY THE MANUFACTURER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED UNDER A RECALL. ON A STRAIGHT ROAD THIS WOBBLE HAPPENED TWICE TO ME AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF MY MOTORHOME, NOT TO MENTION DAMAGE TO MY JEEP.

I CHARGED MY BATTERY AND TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME OFF AND BREAK LIGHT BUT THE OTHERS WERE STILL ON. THE CAR WAS DRIVING FINE. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO START MY CAR AND IT STARTED BUT WAS ACTING AWFUL. IT WAS GIVING ME RESISTANCE TO CHANGE GEAR, IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKE WAS ON EVEN THOUGH IT WASN'T, AND IT WAS SCARY TO DRIVE IT. I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP. THEY SAID THE COMPUTER WASN'T READING ANYTHING CORRECTLY AND THEY HOPE THAT PUTTING A NEW BATTERY WILL HELP EVERYTHING GO BACK TO NORMAL. THEY CHANGED IT AND IT DIDN'T WORK. THEY SAID THE ECU AND TCM CONFIGURATION WAS MISMATCHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I DON'T THINK A CAR THAT ONLY HAS 40K MILES SHOULD HAVE ISSUES WITH ITS COMPUTER LIKE I DID. FAULTY ENGINE SENSORS CAUSES THE CAR STALL AT ANYTIME. WAS DRIVING WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT MY CAR STALLED AND THE DASHBOARD LIGHT UP ALONG WITH MULTIPLE ERROR MESSAGES. IT TOOK 15 TIMES FOR MY CAR TO RESTART. THIS ISSUE IS A COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND PUTTING THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS AT GREAT RISK. CURRENTLY MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP BUT HAVE READ SIMILAR STORIES ONLINE SAYING THAT THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM IS ASSOCIATED WITH A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. MANY STATED THIS IS KNOWN ISSUE AT CHRYSLER WHICH THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO ACTION THE CONSUMER.

THE ALL WEATHER MATS ON THE JEEP TRAILHAWK HAVE A LARGE RIDGE ALONG THE PERIMETER OF THE MAT. THIS RIDGE CAN CREATE A SQUEEZE POINT UNDER THE GAS PEDAL WHERE THE HEEL OF A SHOE CAN BE TRAPPED CAUSING THE SHOE TO PULL OF THE FOOT AND INTERFERING WITH THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE BRAKES. THE NEXT WEEK ON TUE (3/14/17) IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN, THEN SUDDENLY IT DID. I WAS CLOSE TO MY JOB SO I THOUGHT I COULD MAKE IT, BUT THE GEARS WERE STUCK AND HARD TO CHANGE. WHILE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC THE CAR I COULDN'T SPEED UP. I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A BAD ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS CAR!!!! THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS CAR IT IS NOT SAFE. CHRYSLER/JEEP STATES THEY ARE NOT LED TO BELIEVE THE INCIDENT WAS A MANUFACTURING RESPONSIBILITY. LIVES COULD HAVE BEEN LOST. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP TRIED TO TELL ME THEY FOUND DOCUMENTATION THAT THE RAILS ARE NOT TO BE USED UNLESS THEY HAVE A MANUFACTURED CROSSBAR WITH A MAXIMUM WEIGHT OF 150 POUNDS. MY KAYAK RACK HAS A CROSSBAR AND THE WEIGHT OF THE RACK WAS MAYBE 15 POUNDS AND THE KAYAK ITSELF WAS 35 POUNDS. THERE WAS NO WHERE IN MY OWNERS MANUAL THAT STATES I CANNOT USE MY ROOF RAILS. CHRYSLER SENT AN INVESTIGATOR TO DO A REPORT ON THE VEHICLE THEY SENT ME A ONE PARAGRAPH LETTER STATING THEY DECLINE ANY ASSISTANCE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS INCIDENT. FOLLOWING DAY TOOK CAR IN FOR INSPECTION AND PROBLEM DETERMINATION. WAS INFORMED THAT (5) SOFTWARE FLASHES WOULD BE UPDATED ON VEHICLE, ONE OF WHICH WAS A TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) FLASH. THE JEEP WOULD LUNGE SO VIOLENTLY AND IT WAS HARD TO MAKE IT STOP AND TRIED TO LUNGE THRU THE BRAKING. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK IT SEVERAL TIMES AS BOTH OF THESE ISSUES HAPPEN AND MAKES IT VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. MY DAUGHTER WAS ALMOST IN A HORRIBLE COLLISION WITH A LARGE TRUCK AND REAR ENDED BECAUSE THE CAR WAS LAGGING SO BAD MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN FROM A RED LIGHT. THE JEEP HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICING MANY TIMES AND THE PROBLEM HAS STILL NOT BEEN RESOLVED. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS ONLINE AND FOUND OTHER JEEP OWNERS WITH EXACT FRIGHTENING CONCERNS. IN ONE EXAMPLE, I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE AND MY PASSENGER WAS MOVING FASTER THAN ME, AND AS HE WAS GETTING OUT OF THE CAR, THE ENGINE TURNED OVER AS IF TO START (BUT IT WAS ALREADY STARTED). SOME KIND OF SIGNAL IS BEING SENT FROM THE ESS SYSTEM, WHICH HAS NO CONSISTENT BEHAVIOR, SO YOU HAVE NO IDEA IF IT IS WORKING OR NOT. BOUGHT A 2015 JEEP CHEROKE IN MARCH AND HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUE SINCE DAY ONE. THE TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING AND DOWNSHIFTS HARD AND PUSHES THE VEHICLE FORWARD ON DECELERATION. I HAVE 5,000 MILES ON MY "NEW" $35,000 VEHICLE AND I'M ON TRANSMISSION NUMBER TWO. EVERY TIME I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE I WONDER IF THE TRANSMISSION WILL STOP AGAIN AND LEAVE ME STRANDED, OR WORSE, CAUSE ME TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. MANY TIMES WHEN ACCELERATING, THERE IS A PAUSE WITHOUT ANY MOVEMENT AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION GRABS AND THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED MERGING ONTO THE THRUWAY AS WELL. I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC DRIVING 65 MPH AND NOTHING WAS HAPPENING AS I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT KICKS IN WITH A LOUD THUD. I WORRY WHEN IT SNOWS THAT THIS WILL MAKE THE TIRES SPIN TO MUCH AND I WILL LOSE CONTROL.
INITIALLY CAR SHUTTERED WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND WAS DOWNSHIFTING. THE ENGINE START/STOP MALFUNCTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE SERVICE ENGINE MIL CAME ON AS WELL. FROM THEN ON THE CAR BEHAVED AS THOUGH IT WAS STUCK IN 3RD GEAR CAUSING A TOTAL LACK OF TORQUE/POWER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOPS, AND THE ENGINE RPMS WERE GOING EXTREMELY HIGH AND THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT. EVEN TRIED USING THE "MANUAL SHIFT" FEATURE BUT THE CAR INDICATED IT WAS SHIFTING GEARS, BUT THE RPMS DID NOT CHANGE, NOR COULD YOU FEEL THE CAR SHIFT. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION THERE WAS NO POWER AND THE CAR CRAWLED/STRUGGLED TO GET MOVING FORWARD. WAS ALMOST T-BONED TRYING TO TURN ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO GET TO A PARKING LOT SO I COULD STOP. ONCE I PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. I PUT IT IN REVERSE, BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T GO. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AND EVERYTHING SEEMED TO RESET EXCEPT MIL AND CAR STARTED BEVAING NORMALLY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY "REFLASHED" THE PCM, TCM, AND BCM. 1 DAY LATER THE CAR SHUTTERS WHEN DOWN SHIFTING AND ERROR LIGHTS COME ON. LOSES POWER, AND 50% OF THE TIME SEEMS LIKE IT IS NOT SHIFTING GEARS. 25% OF THE TIME WON'T GO INTO REVERSE. CAR BEHAVES NORMALLY AFTER RESTARTING THOUGH THE MIL INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINS ON. USUALLY AROUND 10 MILES LATER THE WHOLE SERIES OF MALFUNCTION STARTS AGAIN, ALWAYS WHEN THE CAR IS DOWNSHIFTING BEFORE A STOP. JUST DROPPED THE CAR OFF TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE HAVING THEIR TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST LOOK AT IT. WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF IT WAS GIVING THE SAME ERROR CODE, "IMPROBABLE ERROR" FROM THE TCM/PCM. THE LACK OF POWER TO ACCELERATE AND INABILITY TO GO INTO REVERSE MAKES THIS CAR SIMPLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE WHEN THE ERRORS OCCUR. ATTACHING FIRST REPAIR INVOICE FROM THE TCM/PCM/BCM REFLASH. ALSO ON THIS DATE THEY PERFORMED A FLASH UPDATE FOR POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. ON JULY 31ST MY FIANCEE CAME TO PICK ME UP AT 3PM AFTER WORK AND I GOT A CALL FROM HER STATING THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING. SHE HAD OUR NEWBORN BABY ALONG SIDE OF THE ROAD IN 90 DEGREE WEATHER WAITING FOR A FAMILY MEMBER TO PICK HER UP. I GOT A RIDE TO OUR BROKEN DOWN VEHICLE AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. HAD TO GET IT JUMPED AND GOING TO CALL DEALERSHIP TOMORROW TO GET THIS CHECKED OUT.

WE TOWED THE JEEP BEHIND OUR RV USING A ROADMASTER TOW BAR. AFTER HAVING TRAVELED 10 MILES AT APPROPRIATE HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WE SLOWED DOWN IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE THAT REQUIRED ALL TRAFFIC TO CONTINUE IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE. THE NEW LANE CROSSED OVER THE EDGE OF THE HIGHWAY PAVEMENT ON TO THE RECESSED SKIRT OF THE SHOULDER, ABOUT A 2 INCH DROP. AT THAT TIME OUR RV BEGAN TO ROCK, ALERTING US TO THE POSSIBILITY THAT WE HAD BLOWN A TIRE. WHILE ASSESSING THE SITUATION WE SAW IN OUR REAR CAMERA THAT THE JEEP WAS ROCKING VIOLENTLY, WHICH WAS ALSO WITNESSED BY THE CHP OFFICER THAT FOLLOWED US TO SAFETY.THE TIRES WERE FINE, BUT THE JEEP'S VIOLENT ROCKING WAS ENOUGH TO SCATTER THE CONTENTS OF THE CAR. WE DETACHED THE JEEP WITH A GREAT DEAL OF DIFFICULTY AFTER THE AMOUNT OF TWISTING THAT OCCURRED DURING THE BOUNCING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ALSO ACTIVATED. WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE THE JEEP TO AN AREA THAT ALLOWED US TO RE-ATTACH THE TOW GEAR AND CONTINUE TO OUR DESTINATION.

CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE WHEN PUSHING ON GAS, GETS STUCK IN GEAR AND THEN WHEN IT FINALLY FINS THE RIGHT GEAR THE WHOLE VEHICLE BUCKS. REPORTED THE PROBLEM IN JANUARY, WAS TOLD TO WAIT FOR THE RECALL UPDATE, WHICH DIDN'T HAPPEN UNTIL JUNE. HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 2 MORE TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST BE IN A NUMBER OR ACCIDENTS WHEN TRYING TO MERGE ON TO HIGHWAYS OR PASS SOMEONE ON THE HIGHWAY. IN ANOTHER INCIDENT MY SUNROOF EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND JEEP IS REFUSING TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH NOTHING HIT THE VEHICLE AND THERE ARE OTHER REPORTS ONLINE OF THIS HAPPENING.

I BOUGHT THE CAR MID OCTOBER 2014 AND BEGAN NOTICING IT DID NOT SHIFT PROPERLY - WOULD "HANG UP" IN LOWER GEAR WHEN IT SHOULD SHIFT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (MILEAGE APRX 2,500) WHICH SAID IT WAS "THROWING CODES" SO THEY ADJUSTED THE TRANSMISSION. THIS STILL DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE SO I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG BUT DID MAKE A MINOR ADJUSTMENT BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO GET WORSE. AT APRX 5,700 MILES THEY PUT A NEW TRANSMISSION IN THE VEHICLE (PROBABLY MAY 2015). IN JUNE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO FALTER WHEN IT WAS TRYING TO SHIFT AND WHILE DRIVING (HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED) AND, WHILE SITTING AT STOP LIGHTS IT WOULD SURGE FORWARD WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ADJUSTED IT TWICE SINCE THEN. THE DEALERSHIP HAS OFFERED TO SELL THE CAR AT AUCTION FOR ME AND JEEP WANTS TO SEND IN A "STAR REPAIR" TEAM TO WORK ON THE VEHICLE SOME MORE. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR ALREADY WORKED ON 5 TIMES AND NO ONE HAS A CLUE OF WHAT TO DO TO REPAIR IT. IT IS DANGEROUS IN THAT WHEN YOU PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND THE CAR FALTERS/STALLS OUT IT CAN CREATE A POTENTIAL WRECK OR WHEN IT THE ENGINE SURGES ON ITS OWN A RISK OF RUNNING INTO SOMETHING EXISTS. I DON'T THINK SELLING IT AT AUCTION JUST TO PASS THE PROBLEM ON TO SOMEONE ELSE OR "HANGING PARTS" ON IT IN HOPES THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM IS THE ANSWER. THE CAR NOW HAS 10,600 MILES ON IT; HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED AND STILL DOES NOT RUN PROPERLY OR SAFELY. I WAS TURNING AT A BUSY INTERSECTION OUTSIDE OF DC WHEN IT APPEARED THAT MY ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND I WAS COASTING. I PRESSED ON THE GAS BUT THE CAR WENT NOWHERE. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, IT KICKED BACK ON AND SPED UP TO 50MPH. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME OR I COULD HAVE GOTTEN REAR ENDED. THREE DAYS LATER, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY (GOING AT LEAST 65MPH) WHEN THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED AND THE RPM'S WERE WELL OVER 5,000 WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO ONLY 30 MPH. THE CAR WAS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY AND WE HAD TO PULL OVER. UNFORTUNATELY WE WERE FOUR HOURS FROM HOME AND HAD TO "MANUALLY" SHIFT THE ENTIRE DRIVE HOME BECAUSE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. WE TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY PERFORMED THE SOFTWARE UPDATE AND INSISTED THAT IT WAS FIXED. MY HUSBAND DEMANDED THEY DRIVE IT FOR A LONGER DISTANCE AND SURE ENOUGH, THE CAR BROKE DOWN AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION AND I JUST PICKED UP MY CAR YESTERDAY (8/24). I STILL NOTICE IT JERKING BACK WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS AFTER COMING TO A STOP AND NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. I FEEL SO UNSAFE IN THIS CAR AND NONE OF THE JEEP EMPLOYEES (AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND CORPORATE) SEEM TO BE CONCERNED. I LIVE IN THE CITY AND CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE MY CAR BREAKDOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD OR HAVE THE TRANSMISSION STOP WORKING LIKE BEFORE. IT TOOK 3 WEEKS OF BEING SERVICED AND I STILL DON'T THINK THAT IT'S FIXED PROPERLY.

OIL WAS OBSERVED LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND ENGINE OIL LEVEL HAD DROPPED BELOW THE RECOMMENDED LEVEL. OIL WAS LEAKING ONTO THE SKID PLATE AND EXHAUST WHICH CAUSED THE SMOKE. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. DEALER STATED THE OIL PAN SEAL WAS LEAKING AND REPLACED THE SEAL IMMEDIATELY AT NO CHARGE TO ME.

WHILE DRIVING, THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM FAILED, LEAVING ONLY THE ARROW POINTING IN MY DIRECTION OF TRAVEL. THIS CONTINUED FOR OVER THREE HOURS. WHEN STOPPED FOR LUNCH, I RETURNED TO VEHICLE AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM RETURNED TO NORMAL. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER WHO SAID THAT THE CURRENT RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM HAD TWO SOFTWARE UPDATES DUE. THEY WERE INSTALLED, COMPLETELY LOCKING UP THE RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM. THE DEALER TOOK OVER THREE HOURS TO CORRECT PROBLEM WITH THEIR TOP COMPUTER PERSON. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER THE SAME. THE BACKUP CAMERA FAILED, THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY WOULD LOCK OUT AND OTHER ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTIONS PLAGUED THE VEHICLE. THE WHOLE RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM WAS FINALLY REPLACED AFTER THREE MONTHS OF TRIAL AND ERROR. AT THIS TIME, THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO BE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. HOWEVER, ONE EMPLOYEE AT THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS. JEEP HAS AT TIMES BEEN INSTALLING REFURBISHED RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEMS IN THEIR NEW VEHICLES WHEN THEY RUN SHORT OF NEW PARTS. THIS COULD EXPLAIN WHY THE SOFTWARE UPDATES WERE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE OLDER RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM. HOW CAN A MANUFACTURER INSTALL REFURBISHED PARTS INTO A NEW VEHICLE? TO ME, THIS IS NOT ONLY A SAFETY ISSUE BUT A CONSUMER FRAUD ISSUE.

IN JUNE, I RECEIVED NOTICE OF RECALL R05, WHICH I HAD PERFORMED & ALSO ADVISED DEALERSHIP OF MIL LIGHT ( SAME ERROR CODES U0402 &U1424). DEALER PERFORMED R05 SERVICE & CLEARED ERROR CODES & ADVISED I SHOULD HAVE NO FURTHER ISSUES. JULY 2, THE MIL & THE START/STOP ERROR LIGHT CAME ON. THIS WAS APPROXIMATELY 11, 800 MILES. THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AFTER MULTIPLE DRIVE CYCLES OVER 4 DAYS, BUT CAME BACK ON MONDAY. I CALLED A LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP & GOT AN APPOINTMENT FOR SATURDAY, 7/11/15. BETWEEN MONDAY & THE APPOINTMENT, THE MIL & START/STOP ERROR LIGHTS WENT OFF AND CAME BACK ON AFTER MULTIPLE DRIVE CYCLES. THIS HAPPENED 5 TIMES BETWEEN 7/2 & 7/11. EACH TIME, THE ERROR CODES WERE U0402 AND U1424. THE DEALER COULD NOT SEE THAT THE TCM & PCM FLASHES HAD BEEN DONE, SO THEY WERE DONE AGAIN (ALMOST 3 HOURS TO COMPLETE). I WAS ADVISED THIS SHOULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE. SEVERAL DRIVE CYCLES & 2 DAYS LATER, THE SAME 2 LIGHTS ARE BACK ON WITH THE SAME 2 ERROR CODES & I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK FOR THE 4TH TIME FOR THE SAME MALFUNCTION ERROR CODES. SINCE THIS IS TRANSMISSION-RELATED, I HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE AT THIS POINT.

TOOK TO DEALER( TOWNE CHRYSLER JEEP IN HAMBURG NY), SAID NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. PICKED IT UP AND 30 MINUTES LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID COULD BE SOME SOFTWARE PROBLEM. PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AGAIN. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITHIN A FEW HOURS. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE DEALER, SO I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER JEEP DEALERSHIP. I DROPPED THE CAR OFF RENTED A CAR. WHEN ENTERPRISE PICKED ME THE AGENT TOLD ME THAT HE HAD AT LEAST 10 PEOPLE THAT WEEK WITH JEEP CHEROKEE AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS( FROM 1 DEALERSHIP). I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT THAT THOUSANDS OF JEEP OWNERS WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION. TODAY THEY PUT A NEW TRANSMISSION IN MY 4 MONTH OLD CAR. THESE CARS ARE DANGEROUS WHEN THEY JUMP FORWARD EVEN WITH YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT WHEN TRYING TO EXCELLERATE. IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED DRIVING THESE CARS.

THE STOP/START FEATURE PLACES ME AND MY OCCUPANTS IN DANGER OF COLLISION FROM OTHER MOTORIST. I HAVE REPORTED IT TO WHITTEN BROTHERS, LOCAL JEEP DEALER, SEVERAL TIMES, HOWEVER, THEY DISCREDIT THE COMPLAINT AND I BELIEVE THEY DO NOT DOCUMENT IT.

HOWEVER, I AM ALSO BEING TOLD IT COULD WEEKS TO MONTHS TO GET THE PARTS IN.

THE ISSUE IS THAT THE REPAIR IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AT LEAST, BECAUSE IT'S STILL IN DEVELOPMENT. THERE IS A REAL CONCERN THAT THE AXLE COULD FAIL AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

I HAVE TAKEN MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR A 3RD TIME TO HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE THE HESITATION IN THE TRANSMISSION, JERKING INTO GEAR, AND THE WOBBLE EXPERIENCE WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY HAVE A TECHNICIAN FROM CHRYSLER COMING TO LOOK AT IT. THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH IT. MY CASE MANAGER WITH CHRYSLER EVEN ADMITTED TO THE WOBBLE PROBLEM AND THAT THEY HAVE NO FIX FOR IT. THE 2ND TIME I BROUGHT IT IN, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER I GOT STRANDED IN ON COMING TRAFFIC. TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY FOUND A COOLANT LEAK, FUEL INJECTOR MALFUNCTION, ETC. AND TOLD ME THE WOBBLE IS A "CHARACTERISTIC" OF THE MODEL AND THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. AS IF THAT'S ACCEPTABLE TO FORCE YOUR CUSTOMER TO DRIVE A WOBBLING, HESITATING BRAND NEW CAR. I AM DUMBFOUNDED WITH HOW THE DEALERSHIPS & CHRYSLER KEEP SWEEPING THIS ISSUE UNDER THE RUG HOPING IT WILL GO AWAY. THEY HAVEN'T FIGURED IT OUT IN TWO YEARS. ITS TIME TO ISSUE RECALLS. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET THEM TO DO SOMETHING? WILL THEY WAIT TIL SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED? ALL THEY SEEM TO CARE ABOUT IS MONEY AND NOT ADMITTING THEIR PRODUCT IS A LEMON. I WENT OUT TO START MY CAR AT AROUND 8:40AM ON MAY 28. WHEN I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO START IT, I HEARD A POP FOLLOWED BY SMOKE. I THOUGHT MAYBE SOMETHING WAS UNDER THE CAR SO I BACKED UP THE CAR APPROXIMATELY 2 FEET AND THEN TURNED IT OFF. I WENT INSIDE TO GET MY HUSBAND, HE CAME OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD AND I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN. IT STARTED RIGHT UP BUT THERE IMMEDIATELY WAS SMOKE AND FIRE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I TURNED THE CAR RIGHT OFF AFTER MAYBE 5 OR 6 SECONDS. I HAD A MEETING TO GET TO SO I LEFT IN MY HUSBAND'S CAR. WHEN I GOT TO WORK, A RETIRED FIRE FIGHTER SUGGESTED THAT I CALL THE NORWICH TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT. BRIAN BEACH CAME TO INSPECT THE CAR. BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE PLASTIC COVERINGS, IT WAS VERY HARD TO SEE ANYTHING THAT WAS WRONG OTHER THAN MELTED PLASTIC FITTINGS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED (AT MY EXPENSE) TO BYERS ON HAMILTON ROAD. TODAY, I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, RON BROWN, WHO SAID THAT HE DIDN'T THINK THAT THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE. HE FEELS THAT THE TENSIONER BELT BROKE AND THAT IS WHY I SMELLED BURNED RUBBER AND THERE WAS SO MUCH SMOKE. EITHER WAY, THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR AND SHOULDN'T BE HAVING ANY ISSUES.

PURCHASED A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE 4X4 ON 2/28/2015. STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION HESITATING AND JERKING INTO GEAR. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 5/1/2015 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS A COMPUTER GLITCH THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF, BUT THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT. THEY SAY ITS SAFE TO DRIVE. ON 5/7/2015 I ALMOST GOT T-BONED BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT INTO TRAFFIC. IT FINALLY JERKED INTO GEAR BUT CONTINUED TO JERK AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 25MPH AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ERRORS CAME ON ABOUT THE START/STOP FUNCTION. THE DEALERSHIP TOWED MY CAR AND I AM USING A LOANER. THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FIX IT. THE 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE'S ARE COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE! SPENT OVER $30,000 ON A VEHICLE THAT I CAN'T SAFELY DRIVE.

I PURCHASED A 2015 CHEROKEE SPORT IN OCTOBER 2014. SINCE THEN I HAVE NOTED SEVERAL RECURRING PROBLEMS. HAVING NEVER OWNED A BRAND NEW I THOUGHT PERHAPS THERE WAS SOME EARLY MILE GROWING PAINS BUT THESE PROBLEMS PERSIST. THE SCREEN MALFUNCTIONS AT WILL; SOMETIME THE REAR CAMERA IS ENGAGED WHEN DRIVING FORWARD, THE SCREEN LOCKS ON THE DISCLOSURE/ACCEPTANCE PAGE. VOICE RECOGNITION/COMMAND HAS NEVER WORKED. UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP (REMINDS ME OF AN UNRULY DOG ON A LEASH TRYING TO LEAP FORWARD). DELAYED ACCELERATION WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED CAUSING IT TO SUDDENLY LEAP INTO MOTION RISKING HITTING A CAR IN FRONT OF YOU IN CITY TRAFFIC (I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES ? THIS IS PARTICULARLY CONCERNING) OR A WALL BEHIND YOU (I BACK INTO MY PARKING SPACE). WHEN PARALLEL PARKING OR IN A 3 POINT SCENARIO (D-R-D) THE CAR, ALTHOUGH CLEARLY PLACED IN THE REVERSE THE CAR WILL ROLL FORWARD BEFORE REVERSING. OFTEN PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE, WAITING SEVERAL SECONDS (4 TO 5) BEFORE RELEASING THE BREAK WILL DO THE TRICK BUT JUST AS OFTEN, IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. GEAR TRANSITIONS ARE SLOPPY. THIS CAR DOES NOT SHIFT IT LUNGES. I'M SURPRISED THE [XXX] THING DOESN'T BITE ALTHOUGH IT TRIES. I THOUGHT THESE WERE MY PET PEEVES BUT IT APPEARS I AM NOT ALONE. I WISH I HAD READ THESE EARLIER COMPLAINTS. I WOULD HAVE RETURNED IT TO POST HASTE. I HATE THIS CAR BUT AM NOT IN THE FINANCIAL POSITION TO BUY ANOTHER. PURCHASED FROM A DEALER 50 MILES AWAY (BEST PRICE) HAS MADE IT DIFFICULT TO TAKE INTO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE FINALLY SCHEDULED 2-DAYS OFF FROM WORK TO TAKE IT IN. I WISH I WAS IN THE POSITION TO NOT JUST DROP IT OFF BUT LEAVE IT THERE.
