Check engine light on 2015 Jeep Cherokee Sport turned on, vehicle "went limp". Pulled over, turned car off, waited, turned car back on. Happened again taking car to dealership. The dealership said "code for trans range sensor p1726. reset trans and test drove. code did not come back". Same thing happened again a week later. Took it to Firestone, code was "TCM P1726-00 Transmission Manage Sensor "C" circuit High. They said it sounded like the Recall Number 16V529000/S55. I took it back to the dealership, they said the recall, despite being for a 2015 Jeep Cherokee didn't apply and noted "Same code P1726 set in TCM. Going to need range sensor and TCM replaced."
My vehicle - at random - will switch to traction control, 4x4, and will slow down while driving, and will not allow me to go above 45 mph, with the engine rpm’s revved as high as if I’m driving 85 mph. No mechanic has been able to accurately diagnose it, and I continue to pay for different repairs, without getting the problem actually solved.
Hello my jeep got a message of service 4 wheel drive so i brought it to the dealership. the looked at it and it turns out to be a failing PTU. Jeep did a recall and extended warranty on it but they are saying they will not cover the cost of the repair because its the wrong code. I have code C14A797 and they are saying they need code P14A797. This doesnt even make sense its the same exact faulty part but different codes??? Codes they the car company creates?
After driving a vehicle for a few minutes the lights will flash pretty badly, the service transmission light comes on, on the dash and the car enters limp mode, and the fan comes on, you are unable to move the vehicle it will not go forward or backwards. The vehicle runs perfectly smooth until this happens without warning. Additionally, the service air bag light came on, on the dash but if you turn the car off and back on the lights will go away and you can resume activity as usual. The cars lights and horn goes crazy even when you are not in the vehicle or driving it and does not have to be on when it does this. Now the vehicle has a service engine light on and diagnostics have been done and one part has been changed but this did not resolve the issue which was a purge solenoid and the oil filter housing which also did not resolve the issue. This vehicle is very dangerous to drive as it will go into limp mode while driving it.

PTU completely bad...just purchased the vehicle and it went bad less than a month after
Electric Throttle Control. It will stop working randomly and when accelerating on the highway on the on ramp it will die down and go no more than 35 mph and will also do this when merging into traffic.. very dangerous
Once I stop my vehicle doesn’t accelerate normally and jerks right after. Also the service shifter light came on and won’t go off.

Transmission has malfunctioned, will not properly shift into higher gears, when stopped is not able to be put into park. Issue started with not warnings, was driving perfectly fine before. Cruise control has failed, parking brake has malfunctioned, and power steering has malfunctioned.

There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with the fuel system. The vehicle was repaired under an unknown recall. However, the failure reoccurred while driving. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The message "Repair Parking Brake" was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the parking brake module, the front driver's side axle, the CV joint, and other unknown repairs needed to be completed. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failures reoccurred and the engine was emitting abnormal rumbling sounds while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that water had leaked through the liftgate, which damaged the parking brake module. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact sold the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

Pressing on the gas and the car does not move. Randomly stops and I would have to turn it off and back on in order for it to drive.
While in first and second gears, the car doesn't seem to know which gear to shift to. It jerks in and out of both gears and is even worse on inclines. Happens mostly under 15mph.
Transmission control module and speed control I couldn't exsellerate while driving in traffic and my car would lock up in neutral and wouldn't allow me to turn off the engine and it was flashing all sorts of problems at once, it would also jerk when I shifted the mechanic first told me I needed a battery and then said I needed a flash update and when none of those problems resulted in fixing my car he then said my Transmission control module was bad so now my car is inoperable so I took it to the dealership and I'm waiting for results. When I'm driving on the freeway I sometimes lose speed or my car would shift into neutral and then jerk when I try to put it back in driving and at times it wouldn't start or become difficult to slow down at an intersection or stop light, my husband is disabled so when it jerks it causes him to hit his head on the passenger side window because he has lost a lot of motor control on his right side due to having a severe stroke it's unsafe for us to drive this car not knowing if it's going to stall, jerk, speed-up or shift into another gear or not completely stop at an intersection because it becomes hard to press the break.

Car stalls multiple times over the last month. With zero warning it died in front of my wife in ongoing traffic. Multiple error messages are on dash. Restarts when shutting car off then back on.
When I go to put the the vehicle in park and reverse it wants to shift really hard, not really a shift but more of a jerk. It doesn’t happen every time but it does 50 percent of the time. There was this one time where i went to go put it in reverse and it wanted to rev more then usual. When it MAINLY shifts hard is when I first turn it on and start moving a couple feet it wants to fall on its face. We haven’t had any incidents in it yet but I wanted to see if I could get anything done before any. Me and my boyfriend travel a lot and when we are in traffic it has fallen on its face. There is a gas cap light that keeps coming on and I have replaced my gas cap 2 times.
Service Shifter lights up on the instrument panel as well as the check engine also stop/start not ready. 4x4 not available exhilarates and UN exhilarates all by its own. Shifts hard and jumps hard when I take off at a stop light don't wanna come out of park unless I take my finger and flip up a plastic thing down inside the shifting housing. And the key fobe won't come out of the key switch. No it hasn't been in a crash yet but it's one looking for a place to happen if jeep don't have a recall. Yes my jeep has been confirmed by the Dodge dealership in Lexington Kentucky. They say that it needs a new shifter put in it I'm taking it to the dealership this coming Thursday
While driving my jeep forward or in reverse my jeep launches forward very hard. I have to press on the brake abruptly so that I don't hit anything. Also when accelerating my speedometer shows the numbers increasing but my wheels are barely moving then it kicks forward abruptly. When turning or going over bumps I feel a pop in the steering column and sometimes the dashboard icon with the vehicle & squiggly lines under it appears. I told my dealership but the mechanic just said there is nothing wrong with it even though I know there is.
I WAS AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION GETTING READY TO TURN LEFT AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE AUTO START CAUTIOUS SYMBOL SHOWED UP ON THE DASH AND THE ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON RIGHT BEFORE MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I HAD TO PUT ON MY HAZARDS BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID OF GETTING HIT. PUT THE JEEP INTO PARK AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. I PULLED OVER INTO A SHOPPING CENTER AND CHECKED TO MAKE SURE I WASN'T LEAKING ANYTHING AND TO GIVE IT TIME TO MAKE SURE IT WOULDN'T SHUT OFF AGAIN. THEN THE NEXT DAY IT WAS SHAKING REALLY BAD IN IDLE AND KEPT THROWING THE SAME AUTO START CAUTION LIGHT ON THE DASH. THEN HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WHEN TAKEN TO MECHANIC SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACK FOR CYLINDER 2 WERE CHANGED BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS.

WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY IN NOVEMBER 2020 I HAD ENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND SET IT AT THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH. A SEMI TRUCK CHANGED INTO MY LANE WITHOUT BLINKER WARNING. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES BUT THE CRUSE CONTROL WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. I THEN BEGAN PUMPING THE BRAKES AND STILL NO DISENGAGEMENT. AS I APPROACHED THE BACK END OF THE SEMI PRIOR TO HITTING IT, I DROVE OFF THE FREEWAY DOWN THE DESCENDING EMBANKMENT STILL PUMPING THE BRAKES WITHOUT DISENGAGING THE CRUISE CONTROL. AS I BEGAN SLIDING DOWN THE EMBANKMENT I BRAKES DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL JUST BEFORE A COLLISION WITH THE DIVIDER.

THE SERVICE SHIFTER ALERT COMES ON EVERY TIME I START THE CAR ALMOST. IT STARTED PERHAPS A MONTH AGO OR SO. IT WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE WOULD CLEAR IT OFTEN BUT HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVERTIME. IT NOW OCCURS EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE. I WORRY THAT IT MAY GO OUT AND THE POLAR IS VERY GENERIC. THAT'S CALLED A COUPLE OF MECHANICS INCLUDING DEALER AND THEY'RE EQUALLY GENERIC ABOUT WHAT IT MAY BE, AND JUST TO GET IT LOOKED AT WILL COST ME $120 AN HOUR. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS THERE WITHIN MY POWER TO TROUBLESHOOT WAS TO MAKE SURE FIRMWARE WAS UP-TO-DATE AND I HAVE DONE THAT BUT THE ALERT IS STILL THERE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD NEEDED TO BE TORQUED TO SPECS AND THAT SOME NOISE FROM THE ENGINE WAS NORMAL OPERATION SOUNDS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE ISSUE WOULD RESOLVE ITSELF THE MORE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, CASE NUMBER: 71717548. I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER WHY I WAS NEVER TOLD THIS COULD HAPPEN AND HE SAID THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL AND THERE IS ALSO NO WARNING THIS WILL HAPPEN OR IF IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. ALMOST 100% OF THE TIME NOW WHEN I AM WAITING AT A RED LIGHT, OR AM STOPPED ON THE ROAD FOR ANY REASON, & THEN NEED TO ACCELERATE UNLESS I ACCELERATE VERY AGGRESSIVELY THE CAR FEELS AS IF IT IS SHIFTING 3 TO 5 TIMES HOWEVER THE CAR IS ONLY IN 2ND OR 3RD GEAR. IT ALMOST SEEMS AS IF IT IS SHIFTING UP, UP, DOWN, UP ALL OVER THE COURSE OF 1-2 SECONDS. SOMETIMES THIS CAN BE VIOLENT ENOUGH TO JERK MY HEAD FORWARD & BACK. SEPARATELY, UPON DECELERATION THE RPMS WILL SPIKE 500-1000 RPMS WHEN LETTING IT COAST & DOWNSHIFT ON ITS OWN & THE CAR WILL ACTUALLY SPEED UP ON ITS OWN. TECHNICIANS HAVE TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE WITH THE LIGHT ON AS THE CAR MAY SHIFT IN A DIFFERENT GEAR OR EVEN REVERSE. CHRYLSER STAR TECHNICIANS KEEP RESETTING THE SOFTWARE, HOWEVER THE LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME BACK ON RANDOMLY. I HAVE EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS AND FEARS WITH THE SHIFTING, HOWEVER THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM NOR HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE SO THEY CONTINUE TO RESET THE COMPUTER. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO "BOG DOWN" WHEN COMING OUT OF A TURN. THIS IS VERY TROUBLING WHEN TURNING LEFT AHEAD OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE NATURAL REACTION IS TO ADD POWER. THIS CAUSES THE TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR AND LURCH THE VEHICLE FORWARD. I'VE MADE A COMPLAINT THRU THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE CENTER. WHEN THE CAR IS DOWNSHIFTING FROM ANY OTHER SPEED, I CAN FEEL THE DOWNSHIFT HOWEVER THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE LIKE IT DOES AT 26MPH. ONLY AT 26MPH IT ACCELERATES AT THE DOWN SHIFT. SOMETIMES THE ACCELERATION IS GREATER THEN OTHER TIMES, BUT HAPPENS 95% OF THE TIME. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR AND IT NEEDS TO LEARN HOW I DRIVE. WHICH MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE IF THIS IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF A CAR, IT IS A VERY UNSAFE ONE. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE WRITER I JUST HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKE UNTIL THE DECLINE IS OVER AND THEN HIT RESUME ON THE PANEL. I KNOW THIS IS INCORRECT SO IS THERE A FIX FOR THIS? TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 1,000 MILES. DEALER REPLACED WITH A REDESIGNED VERSION. I STARTED TO GET A WOBBLE IN THE FRONT END WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING. I BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY WERE REDESIGNING THE FRONT AXLES BUT THE FIX WASN'T OUT YET. A FEW WEEKS LATER THE METAL FRAME IN MY SUNROOF BROKE AND THE WEATHER STRIPPING FELL OUT AND I COULDN'T CLOSE THE SHADE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ENTIRE SUNROOF ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS DEFECTIVE. THE WOBBLE CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND THE CAR WAS SHIFTING ROUGHER THAN EVER. I KEPT TELLING THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG, AND THEY SAID "THAT'S HOW THE NEW 9 SPEED TRANS BEHAVE". WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THE SUNROOF REPLACEMENT I ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE WOBBLE AND TRANS AGAIN, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE FRONT AXLE WAS INDEED BAD. THEY PUT IN THE REDESIGNED AXLES, AND REPLACED THE ENTIRE SUNROOF. I CONTINUE TO HAVE SERIOUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND THEY PUT IN A NEW VALVE BODY AND UPDATED THE SOFTWARE. IT'S WORSE THAN EVER. I KEPT COMPLAINING TO JEEP AND ALL THEY SAID WAS "THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T REPLICATE YOUR PROBLEM." I ACTUALLY HAD THE SERVICE MANAGER IN THE CAR WITH ME AND HE VERIFIED THAT THE CAR DOES NOT DRIVE PROPERLY- AND WHEN JEEP CALLED ME, THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO GO TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. IT HESITATES WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS, THEN IT JERKS VERY HARD INTO SECOND GEAR, IT WILL ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN BECAUSE IT CAN'T FIND A GEAR TO DOWNSHIFT, AND THE ENGINE WILL SPONTANEOUSLY REV ON IT'S OWN IF I AM DESCENDING A HILL AND ITS TRYING TO DOWNSHIFT. THE CAR WILL LEAP FORWARD AND ACCELERATE UNTIL I PRESS THE BRAKE HARD ENOUGH TO SLOW IT DOWN AND IT WILL FINALLY SHIFT. THE RPMS WILL GO UP FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER I'VE APPLIED THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE ALSO ROLLS SEVERAL INCHES AFTER I PUT IT IN PARK NOW.

2015 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT WAS PURCHASED IN OCTOBER OF 2014. AROUND END MAY 2015 EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH BRAKING. WHILE COMING TO A STOP SIGN BRAKE WOULD BE PRESSED DOWN BUT VEHICLES RPM'S WOULD REV UP AND VEHICLE WOULD START ACCELERATING FORWARD. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO SHOP AFTER FINALLY BEING ABLE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT ON 06/16/15. MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM AND RESET MODULE ON VEHICLE. BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DEALERSHIP GAVE VEHICLE BACK TO US AND WE DROVE IT FOR TWO MORE DAYS AND THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. ON 06/18/2015 A DEER HAD ENTERED HIGHWAY AND WHILE BRAKING VEHICLE AGAIN ACCELERATED AND HIT THE DEER CAUSING FRONT END DAMAGE. PROBLEM COULD OF BEEN 100 TIMES WORSE BECAUSE THERE WERE ALSO BICYCLISTS ON ROAD AS WELL AS TRACTOR TRAILER TRAVELING BEHIND. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP VIA TOW TRUCK. TOW TRUCK DRIVER EVEN STATED THERE IS SOMETHING SEVERELY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. WHEN DRIVER TOOK VEHICLE OFF FLAT BED HE PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE WENT FORWARD INSTEAD OF REVERSE PLUS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CAME ON BY ITSELF.
