Vibrating issue and missing fire originating from engine. Intake camshaft broken and left cylinder head is damaged and needs replacement. This should not be happening to this car. Cannot drive a faster rate either. There should be a claim out for all these issues.
The car is not shifting properly and will "jump" or "lunge" forward while driving. I have noticed that the RPM's will jump and bounce around, seemingly down shifting, then shift again, and then down shift again, which causes jerking motion.
While driving doe the highway the Dashboard lights go out and headlights turn off. Headlights and bulbs go out frequently. Rear license plate lights go out even after bulb replacement. Kicks cruise off while driving and shift gear control warning.
PTU problems. Grinding noise from rear when turning slow and accelerating. Remove fuse for ptu and noise goes away. Put fuse back in it is back. Vehicle moves a lot when put in park and sometimes when using remote start you can see the vehicle jump forward a couple feet. My vehicle has all symptoms from recalls NHTSA 20V-343, NHTSA 20E-037, NHTSA 23V-302. But my PTU part number of:68283349AA is not included in any recall. This needs to be looked at further and extend the recalls to all PTU’s on the Jeep Cherokees 2014-2017. Chrysler knows these are bad
The vehicle cut off on me while the vehicle was in drive and I was driving on the highway going 70mph. It has done this several times now. The car cuts off. The vehicle looses power.
Cruise control would not disengage. Instead it accelerated me to 85 mph is rush hour traffic. The car continued to accelerate will out responding to any commands to turn off cruise control. Second time this has happened. It was supposed to be fixed by doing an update to the car. This did not work. The second time I attempted to use cruise control after having had the long block engine replaced due to the oil consumption law suit, the car once again had the same problem with now slowing down. I tried putting the car into neutral and pressing the break. The car was accelerating so fast. The brakes had no effect without causing me to lose control. I was forced to put the car into a ditch at 75 mph. Rather than to rear end the dead stopped 3 lanes of traffic ahead of me and being pinned in by the traffic behind me. Car flipped I now have brain damage and failing kidneys due to blood transfusions
4 wd service light comes on randomly, started the middle of February. It took a couple of weeks to get an appointment with the dealership. Twice in the past 2 weeks the car has slowed down, lost power in traffic to where I had to pull over and let the car go at a low speed until it would go at normal speed again. There is an active recall for the part needing to be replaced with the same year model however this VIN isn't listed in the recall.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH with the cruise control activated, the cruise control system failed to maintain the set speed. The contact stated that the speed fluctuated up and down erratically. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,500.

The car has been stalling when the fuel level reaches the half point for over a year now. Now it is stalling at any time regardless of the fuel line level. Recalls completed and up to date. Informed it was a software issue. Car still performing the same after recall.
Since inception of purchasing the vehicle in January 2019, I have experienced a sudden jolt, banging sound/feeling. In the beginning the issue was subtle. In addition, I have felt a sudden loss of speed. It should be noted I did not seek any service at this time. As a side note, sometime in 2020/2021 i received a letter of a recall for fault PTU however this was for another jeep i owned no longer in my possession. This prompted me to call mopar to see if my current vin was possibly on that first recall of jeeps however i was advised it was not even though i had experienced the same issues described. Fast forward to as of recently august 2023, I received a recall letter with this current vin and proceeded to the nearest dealership for repair. I was advised the repair was a software update. As I was leaving the dealership after the update, I felt the loss of power, jolt and grinding when turning to backup with the service 4wd illuminated. I reparked and walked back inside the dealership when I was advised the repair was only a software update. In addition, I was advised a diagnostic test could be done for $175. I was advised to wait a couple of key cycles to see if the issues corrects itself. The software update has since not corrected itself and I feel as though I am at risk of an accident. This issue is getting worse with my vehicle and is a safety concern. I feel as though I am being penalized for faulty PTU which is on the manufacturer for costs to assure correction/repairs made. Ptu fail the second day of purchasing my car on my birthday with my 2 daughters was in the car with me a 1 year old and 2 year old the car made a big boom and stop it put it self in park. I took the car to a shop yes it was confirmed the ptu yes I took it to Jeep no they appeared after that happen
My 2016 Jeep Cheroke with 75,000 miles started to show a yellow 4WD service light. It would come on and off. I brought it to a Jeep service repair center, where it currently sits, and they confirmed the PTU is NO good. Needs to be replaced at a cost of over $3,000. And to make matters worse, I was advised not to drive the Jeep because it is a safety issue! Also, there is a recall out for "certain" Jeep Cherokees, not mine, with the same exact issue! My Jeep Cherokee was manufactured during the time of the recalled Cherokees but it isn't part of this recall at this point?! I do not have $3,000 to repair a failed PTU which is part of a recall but not my jeep "yet," but if I am driving the Jeep and the PTU totally fails, the Jeep will lose power to the wheels and it can cause an accident. Jeep knows this PTU is an issue but won't help. This is a safety issue.
I just bought my vehicle and I looked it’s been driving funny I took it to the shop they said I need my ptu fixed when I looked it up there is a recall but I don’t understand why my car not involved in the recall when it’s majority jeeps problem right now
Sometimes when I mash the gas pedal to pull out from a stop it hesitates and doesn't move, then is sluggish when it does. This has happened often. It's dangerous.
This problem started 3 o 4 day after I got the car from the dealer, I was driven to my work in highway 70 lonoke Arkansas and suddenly my car started to shift back and started to lose velocity and others cars started to pass me, was very scary ,I took the car to the dealer and they told me, they don't know what happen with the car,they don't let the mechanic to fix it and I took the vehicle to O'Reilly, they scanned it and found that was the Coil and Sparkle,so I bought both and they recommended the next door mechanic TIRE AND LUBE. In lonoke, the car run good for 2 months because I fix it February 8th 2023 and April 4 again I was driven back from my work, the check engine come one a message of transmission service show up, the car started to backup or speed, lose velocity, took it to the mechanic, they scanned it again and show a code P0887 that mean,TCM need to be fix or the Software computer. All this happens in less of the 3 months that I got this car, I got the car in January 17th 2023.Is very important for my safety and the safety of others to know, if is any anomaly with those Cars, that can't be fix no matter what, because right now today April 6th I am sitting here waiting the dealer call me for take my car to be checked it and I m scare to drive, because I don't know how the car go to behave and also already, I have a lot of money invested in this car that even doesn't help me to get to work, I scare for me and others. I can't drive in the Freeway I 40 because with all this problem from the car I can get in a very very bad accident.
The component that needed replacement was the PTU (Power Transfer Unit). My Service 4WD drive light began going on so I brought it to my mechanic who told me there was a recall associated with this diagnostic code and to bring it to Jeep dealership. I then brought to dealership, was charged $160.00 and told that the recall was not for my particular VIN number and the cost of the repair was $3,000. When I googled this issue, there were all of the same warning lights, and all told that the PTU had failed. I fond it hard to believe that this same unit is faulty in the same year, make and model but only in specific cars? Isn't it the same part? I had to save up for the repair as it was costly. I was told that the car was drive-able. I was then driving with my daughter in the car and the car stopped accelerating and warning lights came on. I had to coast into a parking lot and the dashboard flashed to put the car in park. I put it in park and then car still would not accelerate. I called Jeep Customer Service to try and discuss this matter, as I could not afford the repair but need my vehicle for my job. They told me there was nothing they could do and there was no recall on my vehicle. The problem has been repaired by an independant service center on 2/8/23 for $1430.00 I have been a loyal Jeep customer for over 20 years and was very disheartened by this latest issue and how it was handled.
Car refused to exit cruise control, again Instead it accelerated. I pressed again and again cruise control to stop it did not respond. Repeatedly And more frantic I pushed pushed the button as stopped cars grew closer. The car started to accelerate instead and refused to stop Even when pressing the brake. I was able to push the brake down enough to get to engage neutral after multiple attempts. I feared fir my life and for others due to not being in control of the vehicle that was not responding to commands. I was told that the vehicle had been serviced for this problem when it happens to me prior and the dealership refused a free update due to a tsb saying it has been corrected already and I would have to pay. The dealer didn’t even not my vehicle as I asked. I was told if I’m not paying I’m not a customer and they don’t note a account for non customers. Jeep dealer Greenwood Indiana. They also wanted to charge 400 to find out why I had water leaking in the back hatch on the drivers side and said they had no knowledge of a issue with that and would not note a non Customer acct for that either. Approximately march of 2022 definitely the year maybe later in the month of the year. It was not winter though

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT ABOUT 25-30 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY, ENGINE WAS NOT GOING AND POWER STEERING, BRAKES, AND ALL ELECTRONICS WOULD NOT WORK UNTIL THE CAR COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CAR WAS PUT IN PARK AND THEN TURNED BACK ON AS NORMAL. INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES NOW AT SPEEDS OF 45MPH , 20MPH, 25MPH, AND 10MPH.

ON 01/16/2021 I WAS DRIVING THE JEEP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN SUDDENLY THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM 4TH TO 5TH AND MY ACCELERATOR PEDDLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE. UPON CALLING JEEP AFTER READING THE RECALL I LEARNED THIS VIN WAS NOT RECALLED EVEN THOUGH THE SYMPTOMS FOR THE RECALL WERE THE SAME WE WERE EXPERIENCING. AFTER READING ABOUT THIS ONLINE I THINK THIS IS A WIDER RECALL THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN BECAUSE SINCE THE RECALL AND SERVICE BULLETIN RELEASE DATE IN JUNE 2018 THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE ATTACHED MY DIAGNOSTIC SCAN SO YOU CAN SEE THE FREEZE FRAME AND CODE BEING THROWN ON THE VEHICLE. THAT BEING SAID THIS CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE RIGHT NOW THROUGH NO FAULT OF OUR OWN AS ALL MAINTENANCE IS UP TO DATE. JEEP WANTS TO CHARGE US $75 FOR THE RE-FLASH PROCEDURE AND I REALIZE I MAY NOT GET OUT OF PAYING THAT BUT I WANTED TO BE SURE YOU GUYS KNEW THAT THE RECALL THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO COVER THESE YEARS OF JEEPS FAILED TO DO SO FULLY AND SHOULD BE REEXAMINED. I'M READING FROM OTHER JEEP OWNERS WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT JEEP HAS NO FIX, BUT KEEPS CHARGING PEOPLE. ONE GUY SAID HIS ACTUALLY STOPPED ON HIM ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. IT TAKES A COUPLE OF TIRES TO RESTART THE ENGINE. UNKNOWN AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES AND TO LET THEM KNOW IF PROBLEMS CONTINUES. THERE IS A PART OF THE HIGHWAY WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT DROPS TO 65 MPH SO I SLOWED THE VEHICLE DOWN TO 64 MPH WHEN IT SUDDENLY REVVED UP TO 5000 RPMS AND HIT 75 MPH AGAIN. THE CAR HAS BEEN SURGING LATELY BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS FROM THE WEATHER GETTING COLDER. THE CAR ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, ESPECIALLY TO 5000 RPMS, I KNOW IS NOT JUST THE WEATHER. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG AND I HAVE ONLY MADE 1 PAYMENT ON IT ABOUT TO PAY MY 2ND ONE. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR AUGUST 21, 2019 SO THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ALREADY. VEHICLE AT TIMES HAS MIND OF ITS OWN FOR TRANSMISSION NEVER REALLY KNOWING WHAT TO MAKING NOT VERY PREDICTABLE AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE SPEED CONTROL IS DANGEROUS AND A NIGHTMARE. WHILE USING CRUISE CONTROL, TRAVELING DOWN A MODERATELY STEEP HILL, THE SPEED WOULD NOT REMAIN CONSTANT AND THE ENGINE WOULD ACTUALLY ENGAGE TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE RATHER THAN GOVERN THE SPEED AT THE MPH SETPOINT, WITHOUT HAVING MY FOOT ON THE THROTTLE. THE TACHOMETER WOULD SHOW THE ENGINE REV INCREASE AND YOU COULD HEAR THE ENGINE AS WELL WHEN THIS HAPPENED. OBVIOUSLY A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE CAR AND CRUISE CONTROL WERE OPERATING AS DESIGNED!

I'VE HAD THE CAR STALL AT LOW SPEEDS AFTER TURNING (ABLE TO RESTART) BUT MOST SIGNIFICANTLY AN INCIDENT OCCURRING 7/9/2017 WHEN I LOST ALL ACCELERATION ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65MPH WHILE TOWING A 3500LB TRAILER. THE TACHOMETER AND SPEEDODOMETER DROPPED IMMEDIATELY TO ZERO. TOTAL SHUTDOWN. CONCURRENTLY ALL THE ELECTRONICS SHUTDOWN, INCLUDING POWER BRAKES. THANKFULLY I WAS ON A FLAT STRETCH OF ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO DRIFT INTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART; NO ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND EMERGENCY BRAKE WERE FUNCTIONING. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. 3) CRUISE CONTROL FAILS TO MAINTAIN CAR SPEED ON MODERATE DOWNGRADES...RPM'S WILL SHOOT TO 5000, THEN CAR WILL "TAKE OFF" INCREASING SPEED BY AS MUCH AS 15 MPH MORE THAN CONTROL IS SET FOR. MY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN VERIFIED/REPLICATED BY A JEEP CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER BUT THEY HAVE STATED THEY CAN'T FIX THE CAR BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THE ISSUE.

ON SOME OCCASIONS, AFTER REMOVING THE IGNITION KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH A MESSAGE INDICATING "KEY INSERTED" WOULD DISPLAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HUNTINGTON JEEP IN HUNTINGTON, NEW YORK, BUT THE FAILURES COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THUS FAR I HAVE OBSERVED THIS BEHAVIOR AT SET SPEEDS OF 45 MPH AND AT 68 MPH. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE ENOUGH TO KNOW HOW CONSISTENT THE BEHAVIOR IS OR IF THE BEHAVIOR IS ONLY AT SPECIFIC MPHS.

CAN'T TURN ON HAZARDS SO NO ONE KNOWS WHY I AM STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER TWO TIMES NOW, GOING ON THREE. BEING TOLD SOFTWARE. REGARDLESS OF THAT, IT'S VERY DANGEROUS AND HAZARDOUS. ALL IT WILL TAKE IS SOMEONE NOT PAYING ATTENTION FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY TO BE SERIOUSLY HURT OR GOD-FORBID WORSE.

I HAVE TAKEN TO LICAL JEEP DEALER, BUT THEY SAID MAYBE AFTR "COMPUTER UPDATES", IT WOULD REMEDY IT. NOT! I CAN BE ON A BOULEVARD, STREET, HIGHWAY, ETC... I HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT FOR 1-13-2017 WHILE LATITUDE STILL HAS WARRANTY...NO DEALER IS ABLE TO GET VEHICLES IN QUICKLY, SO THAT ALONE SAYS A LOT ABOUT ISSUES WITH THIS MANUFACTURER.... I WOULD ADD THAT I TESTED CRUISE WITH THAT AUTOMATIC ENGINE SHUTOFF BOTH ON AND OFF TO NARROW IT DOWN, BUT THERE WAS NO DIFFERENCE... THERE IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH DEFROSTING WINDSHIELD, TOO, WHERE THE ONLY REMEDY IS ROLLING DOWN WINDOWS, WHICH IS TERRIBLE IN FOG, RAIN, COLD WEATHER... THE OTHER ISSUE I HAVE IS THE AREA WHERE THE SIDEVIEW MIRRORS ARE: IT IS SO WIDE, IT BLOCKS AN ONCOMING CAR (ESPECIALLY ON PASSENGER SIDE), WHEN TRYING TO TURN LEFT. IT MAKES IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ROAD, TOO, AS MANY STREETS HAVE MEDIANS AND MANY DO NOT. SOME HAVE CONCRETE BIKE CURBS, AND ONE MUST PULL CAR FURTHER OUT THAN NORMAL, JUST TO AVOID RUNNING INTO SOMETHING. THIS IS TRUE FOR BOTH RIGHT OR LEFT TURNS. IF AREA IS DARK, IT IS A GUESSING GAME. THIS ALSO MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE DEER IN NEIGHBORHOODS OR FREEWAYS HERE IN SAN ANTONIO, MUCH LESS OBJECTS THAT ARE THREE FEET TALL AND BELOW.

THIS CAR HAS NEVER DONE THIS ON THIS HILL OR ANY OTHER HILL. IN FACT IT'S ALWAYS HELD IT'S SPEED VERY WELL. THIS MAY BE A ONE-OFF INCIDENT, NEVER TO OCCUR AGAIN, BUT I FELT IT NEEDED TO BE REPORTED TO THE DEALER AS I'VE ONLY GOT 6000 MILES ON THIS CAR. THE SERVICE TECH LAUGHED AND SAID THIS WAS NORMAL. I DISAGREE.

THE VARIATION OF THE SPEED WOULD BE BETWEEN NEGATIVE 5 MPH TO 16 PLUS MPH, WITHOUT MY FOOT BEING ON THE THROTTLE. AT TIMES WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HILLS, THE ENGINE WOULD ACTUALLY ENGAGE TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE. THE TACHOMETER WOULD SHOW THE ENGINE REV INCREASE AND YOU COULD HEAR THE ENGINE AS WELL WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I HAVE AN INCIDENT OF THIS ON VIDEO IN WHICH I HAD THE CRUISE SET TO 45 MPH AND WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HILL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 58 MPH, WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE THROTTLE. I WANTED TO USE THE CRUISE CONTROL TO GET BETTER GAS MILEAGE ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT WOULD OFTEN HAVE TO HIT MY BREAKS TO AVOID THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME DUE TO RAPID ACCELERATION. AFTER DISCOVERING THIS ISSUE, I REFUSED TO USE IT AS A RESULT. THIS IS NOT MY VEHICLE, BUT A RENTAL VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED THE ENTIRE TIME PERIOD I HAD THE RENTAL I HAVE VIDEO TO PROVE THIS BUT AM UNSURE HOW TO UPLOAD IT AS ACCORDING TO YOUR WEBSITE IT IS NOT A SUPPORTED FILE FORMAT. I WILL PROVIDE UPON REQUEST. MY HUSBAND, WHO IS AN FAA A&P LICENSED MECHANIC, FILMED THE VIDEO WHILE I WAS DRIVING, AND SUGGESTED I REPORT THIS ISSUE. HE ALSO DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET TO DETERMINE IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE JEEP, AND FOUND THAT IT APPEARS TO BE, AS MANY ARE REPORTING SIMILAR ISSUES.
