My vehicle is under an open safety recall 01C involving the PTU system, and there has been no remedy available for nearly a year. This defect caused a dangerous and sudden loss of acceleration while I was driving, and the manufacturer has still provided no fix, and no support through the dealership. The incident occurred when I was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green,I pressed the gas and the vehicle immediately made a loud grinding/shaking noise, shuddered violently, and lost all propulsion. The car would barely move. I was extremely lucky that there was a parking lot directly next to the intersection, and with the tiny amount of movement left,I was able to coast into it. If this failure had happened anywhere else—on a highway, in the middle of an intersection, or without a place to pull off—I could have been rear-ended or caused a collision. My safety was put at immediate risk due to this recall defect. I contacted the dealership, but they stated they could not repair the vehicle because Jeep/Stellantis had not released a remedy, parts, or service procedure for the recall. I was told multiple times that there was nothing they could do until Jeep provided a fix. After the breakdown, an independent shop confirmed the PTU failure, since the dealer still had no ability to repair it. All failed components and documentation are available for inspection. I lost use of my vehicle and was forced to take safety into my own hands. When I submitted reimbursement documentation to Jeep Customer Care, they denied it because the repair was not done at a certified dealer and did not use MOPAR parts—even though no certified repair or MOPAR parts exist for this recall. This leaves me without a safe vehicle, without a remedy, and without support. I am requesting NHTSA intervention due to the ongoing safety risk and the manufacturer’s failure to provide a timely fix and proper reimbursement for their admitted issue with the vehicle.
Driving from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia, then To DC, then VA, power steering service show up and caused my jeep hard to turning. Completely unexpected. I just got them 2 month ago.

Vehicle is hard to turn since it is locked in to all wheel drive . I had Northtown Jeep ( dealership) look at it and they knew what it was just after one quick ride around the building. The car has 28543 miles on it and is out of warranty. They told me that the PTU was faulty and that also caused damage to the rear differential. This vehicle from day one sounded and felt a bit (odd) but I just figured that this was normal but it wasn't until this year when leaving the driveway that it got to the point that we could not even drive the car.The dealership said it would cost roughly 6800.00 to repair both the ptu and the differential, which I can not afford.
During certain temperatures my cars emergency brake light will come on, engine light the abs light all at once and the steering wheel will stiff up this used to happen to my 2004 Jeep grand cherokee now it’s with my new 2019 Jeep Laredo
Am concerned about theses vehicles even being on the roadways with no resolution to the safety recall being resolved. Reported in Jan 2025, no resolution yet. for 8 months? "Parts are not available". It appears by documentation that if you are in the states you can get a dealer to check via software to detect and monitor for excessive wear within a PTU. If PTU failure is confirmed by software, FCA US will replace the PTU for all impacted customers experiencing messaging related to the defect to replace the PTU. Warranty extension terms and unlimited years/unlimited mileage. Why can we not check the vehicle out at a Canadian Dealer to confirm what we are potentially driving down our busy highways?
I’m having power steering issues , when i start my vehicle the power steering light comes on and my steering wheel locks up
PTU needs to be replaced after less than 55k miles. Several recalls issued, but VIN is not included, but meets every "check box" for recall.

I bought a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited used on July 30, 2024. Through the rest of the year I experienced a short sharp sudden pull from the steering wheel to the right and left. This happens frequently, several times in every drive. I had tires replaces and suspension balanced on March 5, 2025. This did not change the issue. When driving, the vehicle pulls left or right randomly especially at higher speeds. It is scary to be on highway and suddenly be pulled toward another lane. I have no open recalls and my mechanic can not locate the problem. I am very concerned. It is not safe so I do not travel far because of unsolved situation. My SVC4wheel is unavailable temporarily service needed is on been on since I got jeep recently I was thrown into a ditch and wasn't able to control the jeep due to no 4 wheel drive but my stability control is tied to that. And I believe it is part of the recent ptu recall jeep just had from 2017-2019 jeep Cherokee. I have exact same issue. My jeep acts like it wants to always stall which is part of the recent recall lose of power to the power transfer unit b could become damage band stall . We have had numerous incidents with our vehicle starting at about 20,000 miles and still happening at 39,000 miles. While driving all of the lights come on, on the dashboard while at the same time the car loses power - losing brakes and power steering. Most recently, the car locked itself after closing the door, the radio has completely turned off to a black screen, eventually restarts itself. While stopped at a red light, it felt like I got rear ended, a bang sound and the car jerked forward. We have only had Jeep dealerships work on the car. The PCM has been replaced, as well as the alternator. They did find a small wire that was rubbing and repaired that as well, However, the problem still persists. This is a major safety issue, I feel this car should not be on the road, we are lucky that no one has been hurt at this point. The last time this happened my husband was making a left turn at an intersection and was very close to being in a serious accident. It is currently in the dealership (for the 5th time).

I was involved in a single vehicle accident at 5 am on October 5, 2023 on a rural road in Deland, Florida. I was on an unfamiliar road with a sharp curve and as I was trying to slow down the I was unable to slow down or steer the vehicle. It slammed into a cluster of trees and immediately the engine caught fire. I crawled out of the vehicle in pain from the force of the crash and was disoriented. A good Samaritan came to my aide and called the Volusia County Sherriff. I can remember my 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude was fully engulfed in very intense flames in less than 8 minutes. It was so intense it set fire to the wooded area. This wasn't the first problem I had with this vehicle. I purchased this vehicle new from a dealer in Bowie, MD in 2019. Since that time I replaced all 4 tires due to numerous flat tires starting around 20K miles. I replaced the battery at less than 25K miles. I had braking issues when going downhill in the Washington DC area which caused me to brake hard. I complained and the dealer said they did an inspection. I also had other auto service companies perform checks. I have most of the service records which have cost me so much. I am a disable Gulf War Veteran on a fixed income. I was driving down the road, got onto the highway, and I suddenly lost my power steering. I noticed the red warning light come on right when it happened. Up to this point I never had any problems with the power steering or any warning messages. It was raining pretty hard, and I could not safely pull over for a couple miles. I finally found a space to pull off to. Turned my vehicle off, let it sit for a little bit and then turned it back on. The warning was gone and everything felt ok. So I got back onto the highway and 3 minutes later it all happened again. I was able to make it to my destination and hoped that if I let it sit a little longer maybe it'll fix itself. After about an hour I went to go start my car and the warning was still on and this time a warning message appeared stating my power steering needed servicing. I turned my car off and then back on and the message was gone and everything was working again. I left my destination to go back home about a mile down the road I lost my power steering again, this time both the light and the message appeared. I made it home and the issue continues to persist. I only have 45k miles on it. This just happened today so I have not been able to get it into a shop. The fact that this happened on the highway was very scary. I had a very hard time just trying to get it back into my driveway.
While attempting to accelerate from a stop on a slight incline the battery light came on and I was unable to move forward I was in drive pushing the accelerator but rolling backwards and the power steering stopped working. I put the Jeep in park turned it off and restarted but the same thing happened. After the third or fourth try the Jeep resumed normal operation.

2019 JEEP Cherokee Trailhawk started making a "cluncking” noise in the front suspension/steering at 12k miles. Reported the issue to the dealer @15k service (July 2020). Dealer stated there was no issue. Reported the noise again at 22k miles (March 2021)-dealer stated that engine oil leak was getting into an electrical plug for the front power transfer/traction control modules and activating features that caused the noise, which dealer “addressed” by stopping the leak. The “cluncking” noise continued getting louder. At about 28k miles, i drove through a puddle of water and the vehicle lost steering control--it pulled hard to the right and needed strong persistent correction to avoid going off-road. I got a wheel alignment and rotated the tires just-in-case. "Clunk" noise continued and every time car hits a puddle/wet pavement with both tires, it pulls to the right, risking loosing total control if i don’t anticipate the pull. Took it to the dealer again @ 32k miles. Informed dealer that the same “clunck” had gotten louder, the vehicle was loosing steering control every time I hit water on the road. Dealer diagnosed a noisy and defective rack and pinion, even though the previous two complaints for the same noise were ignored. I took the car to another dealer and did not inform them of the diagnosis. This dealer also diagnosed a bad rack and pinion system and tie ends and broken engine mounts. I called JEEP Customer Service, who promised to call me back within 24 hours but never did. The car is now out of warranty for an issue i reported twice under warranty. There is a recall (V99) for defective rack and pinion units on this model but this VIN apparently is not covered, although it clearly has an issue.
I was driving on the highway with cruise engaged at 72 mph. I suddenly lost my power steering. Exited highway immediately to investigate the warning light on the dashboard. On saturday 3/5/22 around 2:30 pm i was driving and the engine shut off on midlle of street. No warning or any previus signs. On sunday 3/6/22 i got a low oil presure warning ligth. The safety of my family and any person around us was at risk becouse my vehicle was in movement, it could have couse an accident luckily i was driving in a street at low speed if it had happened at high speed it could be really bad. There was not an accident for police to report and today is sunday so the jeep corporation does not work on sundays, so no one have inspected the problem. Like i stated on the day after the engine shut off i got a low oil pressure warning light on the dashboard. I have read some information on internet of issues were the tiger jeep engine shuts of and couses serius accidents and i am concern for my familly safety while using the jeep. Last time i had this issue the jeep company was supposed to fix the issue of engines shutting down with the recall. Please help solve this problem before someone get into a serius accident.

My husband and my son were driving my Jeep on the highway going 70 MPH when with no warning there was absolutely NO power steering and almost went off the road over an embankment. Luckily it was my husband driving because I would not have been able to control the car. When researching this year of Jeep, there is a recall for this issue on only a certain number of vehicles, but of course when I put my VIN in my vehicle is not on the recall list and I also see several complaints of the same issue with the steering and not being on the recall list. This is a HUGE safety issue and NEEDS to be address immediately.
This particular year and model of jeep has 2 recalls not registered to my VIN number related to my accident. Airbags- impact and acceleration sensors. Steering- steering rack gear. Tonight while driving my jeep to my local walmart, my steering completely quit and locked up on me causing me to go off the road, hit a speed limit sign, almost roll my vehicle, and cause possible irreparable damage that may total my vehicle all together. The impact was hard enough to cave in my whole front passenger side fender, rip my mirror completely off, dent both passenger doors deeply, bend my door frames, and almost completely tore off my rear fender. During this, my air bags did not deploy, and I know the accident was bad enough that they should have. This could have been life threatening, and could have ended entirely worse than what it did. My power steering pump seems to be working fine, but my jeep itself is still registering it as a power steering issue, which makes me believe that there are significant electrical issues with the jeep itself.

TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP THEY FOUND WIRES RAN BY JEEP DURING MANUFACTURE FOUND A WIRE CHAFE NEAR STARTER AND WAS A GROUND WIRE. FIXED THE ISSUE. FAST FORWARD 11/2020 GETTING NAV DISPLAY REPLACED DUE TO SCREEN SEPARATION. FIRST RADIO INSTALL WAS NOT COMPATIBLE, AND STEERING HAS BEEN MESSED UP SINCE THE FIRST RADIO WAS PULLED OUT AND PUT BACK IN. COINCIDENCE NOT SURE... JUMPY/PLAY/LOOSE/STIFF WHEN CORRECTING TO STAY IN LANE. EXPLAINED THIS TO DEALERSHIP, SAFETY CONCERN, HAVE TO FIGHT THE WHEEL TO DRIVE AND ONLY DID THIS WHEN THERE WAS AN ISSUE IN 2019. 4TH VISIT BACK TO DEALERSHIP 3RD RADIO FINALLY WORKED. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY INSTALLED A STEERING SOFTWARE UPDATE. THEY DROVE MY VEHICLE APPROX. 50 MILES. SAID THERE IS PLAY/JERKING/JUMPING IN STEERING WHILE DRIVING AND TO LET THEM KNOW IF IT CONTINUES... I FEEL LIKE A DRUNK DRIVER, UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 40K MILES. I CAN'T PIN POINT WHY THE CAR IS DOING THIS AND HOW TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF. JEEP SHOULD BE FIXING THIS PROBLEM AS THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE COME ACROSS MANY COMPLAINTS FOR CHEROKEE STEERING ISSUES. I BELIEVE IT WAS THE ENGINE LIGHT BECAUSE AS I HEARD IT GO OFF AND FLASH AT ME, MY CAR STARTED TO STALL UP AND THEN GO REPEATEDLY. AS IF IT WAS HARD FOR IT TO GRASP ON TO MOVING FORWARD. LAST NIGHT WAS THE SCARIEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE AND I HAND NEVER HAD THAT HAPPEN TO ME. ALMOST PULLED OVER BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO CRASH. I KEPT IT AT A STABLE 60 MPH AND OFF CRUISE CONTROL AS SOON AS THE STEERING WENT HAYWIRE AND IT SEEMED TO HAVE HELPED A BIT. I FEEL THE NEED TO GET MY CAR CHECKED BUT I ALSO BELIEVE THAT ALL OTHER 2019'S SHOULD GET RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE.

IT IS AN INTERMITTENT, SERIOUS PROBLEM. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF THIS NATURE REPORTED FOR THIS MODEL JEEP IN THE NHTSA LAST YEAR AND THIS YEAR. I HAVE ALSO CHECKED MY BATTERY ON THE SCREEN DISPLAY AS I DRIVE AND IT IS ALWAYS BETWEEN 14.2-14.4V. DURING THESE SHUTS, MY CAR IS GOING UNDER 30 MILES PER HOUR, BUT HAS HAPPENED AS I AM TURNING AND GOING STRAIGHT. MOST RECENTLY (THIS MORNING), I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT (HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF MY PARKING SPOT AT MY APARTMENT) AND MY BATTERY LIGHT TURNED ON AND MY CAR LOCKED. THE STEERING WHEEL AND PEDALS WERE UNUSABLE, BUT MY ENGINE REMAINED ON. I CHECKED MY BATTERY DURING THIS AND IT SAYS IT WAS AT 12.2V. I HAD TO SHUT MY CAR OFF, PUMP THE GAS TO TURN THE ENGINE OVER AND MY BATTERY DISPLAYED AS BACK AT 14.4V. THIS HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES BEFORE I WAS OUT OF MY APARTMENT COMPLEX (EVERY 50 FEET OR SO) AND I TURNED AROUND AND PARKED AGAIN. I HAD MY CAR HOOKED UP TO DIAGNOSTICS MACHINE AFTER IT BEGAN THE FIRST SHUT DOWNS, BUT IT RETURNED WITH NO ERROR CODES AND MY BATTERY TESTED FINE AND ALL THE WIRES WERE SECURE. I CALLED MY JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED I AM OUTSIDE MY WARRANTY (BY 800 MILES), SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE FIX. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECT WITH MY CAR. I CAN SEE THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH THAT MANY OTHER JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS ARE HAVING THESE EXACT ISSUES AND JEEP IS GIVING THEM THE RUNAROUND. A TRACTOR TRAILER TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES AN HOUR NARROWLY AVOIDED ME IN A NEAR HEAD ON / T-BONE ACCIDENT. MY VEHICLES ENGINE REVVED PRIOR TO MY TRANSMISSION MAKING TREMENDOUS NOISE AND SUDDENLY MY VEHICLE FELT AS IF I HAD JUST HIT A SOLID CONCRETE WALL. MY VEHICLE LOST ALL STEERING AND I HAD ZERO CONTROL OVER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING. MY DASH LIT UP WITH EVERY LIGHT AND MY PARKING BRAKE WAS ALSO ENGAGED. ON JUNE 15, 2020, I TURNED LEFT ONTO A CITY STREET AND MY VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING THE WARNING SOUND, THE SAME SOUND WHEN THE SEATBELT ISN'T BUCKLED. A FEW SECONDS LATER WHEN I TURNED RIGHT INTO ANOTHER CITY STREET, THE BATTERY LEVEL WARNING CAME ON, THEN THE ENTIRE DASH LIT UP AND THE VEHICLE QUIT. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS TO RESTART, THE ENGINE CAME BACK ON. THE NEXT DAY AFTER I MADE A LEFT TURN, THE SAME THING OCCURRED, THE BATTERY LEVEL FLASHED ON THE DASH, THEN THE ENTIRE DASH LIT UP AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I WASN'T ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. IT TOOK 5 ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE ENGINE WOULD RESTART. ON THE JUNE 18TH SOON AFTER I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ONTO A CITY STREET, THE SAME EVENT OCCURRED, THE DASH LIT UP AND THE ENGINE STOPPED, HOWEVER THIS TIME I WASN'T MAKING A TURN, BUT I HAD SLOWED DOWN BECAUSE ANOTHER VEHICLE COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION HAD VEERED CLOSE TO MY SIDE OF THE ROAD.IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE ENGINE, AND IT SOON CUT OFF AGAIN BEFORE I GOT IT BACK IN THE DRIVEWAY. APPT WITH NAPLETON'S ARLINGTON HEIGHTS ON 1/23/2020 DID NOT MENTION ANYTHING THAT WAS DONE TO LOOK FOR ISSUE, OTHER THAN RECALL SOFTWARE UPDATE OF 18VA9182, WHICH THEY SAID WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. IN ADDITION, I JUST RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM FCA, STATING THAT WHEN I HAD TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN FOR RECALL #18V739, THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PROPERLY INSPECTED AND THE RECALL WAS CLOSED. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP THIS WAS DONE COMPLETED AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO THE UPDATE, HOWEVER, THEY HAD NOT COMPLETED THE CORRECT ONE, AND THE PROBLEM WITH STEERING STILL PERSISTS. I AM WORRIED THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY CONCERN, AND WOULD LIKE TO BE CONTACTED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM ADDRESSED.

WHEN AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED IT IS AS THOUGH THE MOMENTUM OF THE VEHICLE IS HELPING IT STAY STRAIGHT BUT IT WILL STILL DO IT.
WHEN DRIVING MOSTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BUT SOMETIMES AT LOWER SPEEDS THE STEERING GETS TIGHT WHEN MAKING A SLIGHT ADJUSTMENT TO THE STEERING, WHICH MAKES ME PULL IT HARDER TO GET IT LOOSE AND THEN HAVE TO OVER COMPENSATE TO GET THE VEHICLE BACK IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THIS IS EXTREMLEY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT HAS CAUSED ME TO RUN OFF THE HIGHWAY AND COME VERY CLOSE TO HITTING OTHER VEHICLES. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP AT THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND CHRYSLER LOOKED AT IT AND SAID THIS IS NORMAL WITH THE ELECTRONIC SPEED SENSITIVE STEERING. POWER STEERING LIGHT WENT ON AND CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE. CALLED DEALERSHIP, WHO WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING, AND THEY TOWED THE CAR AND GAVE US A LOANER. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION SO THEY OPENED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER. AFTER THREE WEEKS, THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED, WHICH SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE IN ITSELF SO I DID NOT TAKE THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON LONG TRIPS. FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF WEEKS, THE REPAIR SEEMED FINE, BUT THEN THE STEERING COLUMN/WHEELS STARTED MAKING LOUD GRINDING NOISES AND THUMPS WHILE PARKING AND PULLING OUT OF PARKING SPACES. NOW IT IS HAPPENING WHILE I AM DRIVING, LOUDER AND LASTING LONGER. I HAVE HAD TWO SCARY INSTANCES OF STEERING/WHEELS GRINDING, THUMPING, LOCKING WHILE CHANGING LANES AND I HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING FOR 10-20 SEC. IT HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY (12/30/19) WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT. THE STEERING LOCKED WHILE I MADE A SLIGHT TURN GOING APPROX 5MPH, AND THE GRINDING/THUMPING WAS SO LOUD AND STRONG THAT IT FELT LIKE THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE CAR WAS GOING TO FALL OFF. THIS LASTED LONGER, AROUND 20SEC, AND THEN THE CAR JUST DROVE COMPLETELY NORMAL. I HAVE ALSO HAD MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF FEELING THAT I HAVE ZERO CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND THAT MY WHEELS ARE NOT ON THE ROAD. NO NOISE, NO LOCKING UP, JUST NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AT ALL. I HAD IT RECENTLY IN TO A JEEP DEALER FOR SERVICE ON OTHER ISSUES AND LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THIS AND THEY INDICATED THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING RIGHT THEN, AND DIDN'T HAVE MORE TIME TO LOOK INTO IT. I LET THEM KNOW I FEARED FOR MY SAFETY (HOPING I DON'T LOSE CONTROL). I ALSO HAD LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THE STEERING RACK THAT I HAVEN'T SEEN SHOWN UP ON THE NHTSA LIST YET AS A FORMAL RECALL. THIS VEHICLE, PURCHASED NEW, HAS BEEN IN THE DEALER'S REPAIR SHOP FOUR TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM (IT IS THERE NOW). IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS, IT HAS BEEN IN THAT SHOP 65 DAYS (SO FAR). ALL HE OFFERED WAS TO DO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WHICH I HAVE TO MAKE AN APPT FOR AND GO EVERY 1,000 MILES TO GET IT READ. I MENTIONED THAT THE COMPASS HAS THE SAME TYPE ENGINE, HOWEVER, WITH THE COMPASS I WOULD GO 5,000 MILES OR MORE. I CANNOT CONTINUE TO PAY FOR A CAR THAT PUTS ME AND MY FAMILY AT RISK FOR ACCIDENT. AFTER COMING TO REST AGAINST A TRAFFIC SIGN, I WAS ABLE TO SEE THAT IT WAS AN ALERT FOR MY STEERING THAT HAD COME ON. IT REMAINED ON EVEN AS I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. I HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE INJURIES TO MY HEAD, BACK, LEGS, WRIST, HIPS, SHOULDER AND HIP. THIS IS A MOST EGREGIOUS FAILURE AND I AM QUITE UNDERSTANDABLY RETICENT TO TRUST ANY VEHICLE WITH THIS COMPONENT. WHEN I REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED, I BEGAN TO SLOW AND THE CAR CAME BACK ON. THIS ALL TOOK PLACE IN ABOUT 5 SECONDS. WHEN I GOT MY HEAD STRAIGHT AND STARTED BACK HOME, I NOTICED THAT THE RADIO, CONTROL PANEL/GAUGES AND A/C WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. I COULD NOT CHANGE CHANNEL, TURN AIR OFF, COULDN'T CHANGE VOLUME OR NOTHING. ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES LATER I ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN. THE RADIO CONTINUED TO PLAY. I HAD TO START AND SHUT THE JEEP DOWN THREE TIME IN ORDER FOR THE EQUIPMENT TO SHUT DOWN. I CALLED NAPLETON JEEP OF CLERMONT TO COME TOW THE JEEP IN AND I CALLED CHRYLSER CORP TO NOTIFY THEM OF THE MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD THIS WAS AND PROBLEMS THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED. SEARCHING THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL JEEP ON THE INTERNET, IT APPEARS THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON THING,. I EXPLAINED IT TO ONE OF THE CHRYSLER CORP MANAGERS AND HE SAID IT DIDN'T MATTER HOW MANY VEHICLES THIS HAPPENED TO, THERE IS NO PROBLEM. CHRYSLER HAD THE NAPLETON DEALER DRIVE THE CAR FOR ABOUT 90 MILES OVER A WEEK PERIOD AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. AT THAT TIME I GOT A CALL FROM CHRYSLER AND NAPLETON, STATING I CAN PICK MY JEEP UP, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. THE JEEP HAD ABOUT 2000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WE HAVE HAD THE JEEP ABOUT 40 DAYS WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AND BECAUSE CHRYSLER COULDN'T RECREATE THE ISSUES, THEY HAVE JUST WASHED THEIR HANDS OF THE PROBLEM.

I ALSO RECEIVED A RECALL EMAIL THAT STATES THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS LIFE THREATENING AT THIS POINT. MANY CHEROKEES HAVE RECEIVED 5 RECALLS AND I ONLY HAVE ONE. YOU LOSE ALL LIGHTS IN THE DASH, ALL POWER GOING UP HILLS, HAVE TO STOP COMPLETELY AND RESTART IN ORDER TO GO ANYWHERE. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS REPORTED TO JEEP MULTIPLE TIMES NOW AND THEY HAVE SAID IS FIXED. WE HAVE REQUESTED THEY SWAP OUT OUR VEHICLE WITH ANOTHER NEW JEEP AND THEY REFUSED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHERE THE ABILITY TO SAFELY DRIVE THE CAR ABRUPTLY STOPS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. POWER STEERING COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AS DOES THE CAR TRANSMISSION MAKING IT SO YOU CAN GO NOWHERE. WE HAVE BEEN ALMOST WIPED OUT BY A SEMI TRUCK ON THE INTERSTATE, THIS IS AFTER THEIR THIRD ATTEMPT AT FIXING THE VEHICLE AND SAYING IT IS FIXED. AND SAFE. WE HAVE REQUESTED TIME AFTER TIME FOR THEM TO GIVE US A NEW JEEP AND THEY REFUSED BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO DISH OUT THE MONEY OR WHATEVER THE CASE IS. THIS VEHICLE CAN LOSE POWER STEERING AND THE TRANSMISSION CAN GO INTO NEUTRAL AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD CAUSING YOU TO BE LEFT WITH A VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND POTENTIALLY UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. JEEP TOLD ME IT'S EMPTY ON OIL BUT YET THE OIL LIGHT INDICATOR DOESN'T COME ON. THEY SAID IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITHOUT A FIX FOR ALL 2014-2019 JEEP CHEROKEES. THEY ARE AWARE BUT ARE NOT FIXING OR ADDRESSING THE OIL CONSUMPTION WITHOUT LIGHT ISSUE THAT PUTS DRIVERS IN MOTION AT RISK OF AN ACCIDENT OR LOSING THEIR LIFE. IF NO WARNING IS COMING ON THAT YOUR OIL IS EMPTY LONG BEFORE A DIE OIL CHANGE AND MY CAR CAN JUST DIE WHILE IN MOTION ALONG WITH OTHERS AS AGAIN THEY STATED IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE IS A ROAD HAZARD FOR ANYONE IN THESE CARS. MY CAR IS 3 MONTHS OLD AND I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING IT ON ANY ROADS FOR FEAR I WILL BE HIT BY ANOTHER DRIVER AS IT'S JUST LOSING POWER AND SHUTTING DOWN IN THE STREET IN MOTION. JEEP CANNOT FIX THIS BUT KNOWS ABOUT IT.
