THE A/C INLET FITTING IS DEFECTIVE CAUSING THE COOLANT TO LEAK OUT AND THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT, THE PCM IS DEFECTIVE AND SAYS THE TIRE PRESSURE IS LOW WHEN IT ISNT

DEFECTIVE VALVE SEAT FELL INTO CYLINDER. MANY COMPLAINTS ON LINE INCLUDING MINE. FULLY MAINTAINED. RAN FINE AND PARKED. WOULDN'T RE-START. HAD IT CHECKED AND THE CYLINDER WAS SHATTERED. GLAD I WASN'T DRIVING ON THE ROADWAY AS THE ENGINE WOULD OF STOPPED AND SO WOULD STEERING AND BRAKES.JEEP WAS IN STORAGE SINCE 2015.

DRIVING UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS THE VEHICLE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF AND STALLS. THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY, MOSTLY AT SPEEDS OF ABOUT 45-60 MPH. THE TWO RECALLS AVAILABLE ON THE VEHICLE AS IT RELATES TO THIS ISSUE (TCM/PCM ) ( IGNITION SWITCH) HAVE BEEN RECENTLY FIXED BY THE DEARLERSHIP, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO MULFUNCTION IN THE SAME MANNER AND APPEARS TO BE GETTING WORSE. CONTACTING CHRYSLER, THEY ARE ABRASIVE AND UNCOOPERATIVE. A LITTLE RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL OWNER COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY ISSUE DATING BACK TO 2006-2007-2008. THERE APPEARS TO BE AN "ACTIVE" INVESTIGATION ONGOING BY THE NHTSA-OFFICE OF DEFECTS INVESTIGATIONS. WHAT IS THE STATUS OF THIS INVESTIGATION-10 YEARS LATER??? THERE APPEARS TO BE NO INTEREST ON THE PART OF THE MANAUFACTURER TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITHOUT THE VEHICLE OWNER INCURRING MASSIVE LOSES IN ENDLESS DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR EXPENSES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4X2. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE, CHECK FUEL CAP, AND AIR BAG WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 99,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

WE PURCHASED OUR 2006 JEEP COMMANDER IN NOVEMBER, 2008. THE FIRST PROBLEM WE EXPERIENCED WAS THE ROUGH VIBRATION OF THE FRONT END. WE TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO SEE ANY THING PHYSICALLY WRONG. THIS PROBLEM HAS INCREASED OVER THE YEARS. THE SECOND PROBLEM WE NOTICED, ALL OF THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BROKE WHICH CREATES SOME DIFFICULTY IN EXITING THE VEHICLE. WE MAINTAINED REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON THIS VEHICLE AND THE ONLY OTHER PROBLEM WE EXPERIENCED UNTIL NOW, WE PURCHASED TWO NEW BATTERIES AND THE AIR CONDITION BLOWER WAS REPLACED. IN AUGUST, 2014, I STARTED THE TRUCK, PRECEDED OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AFTER A MINUTE OR SO THE LIGHTS WENT OFF BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR 1 DAY. IT HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN THE LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT ANY SPEED IT APPEARED AS IF THE TRUCK WAS SHUTTING DOWN. IF I WAS ABLE TO I WOULD PULL OVER AND RESTART THE TRUCK THIS PRACTICE DID NOT STOP THE LIGHTS FROM COMING ON AND OFF. I WAS SITTING AT THE RED LIGHT AND PROCEEDED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGE AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS OF ACCELERATION THE TRUCK SHUT COMPLETELY OFF THE DRIVER BEHIND ME COULDN'T HAVE NONE I WAS STOPPING BECAUSE I NEVER HIT THE BRAKES. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND FLASHED OFF AND ON FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES TURNED THE KEY OFF AND THE KEY WAS UNUSUALLY HOT. THIS MORNING THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START EVERYTHING INSIDE THE VEHICLE CAME ON AND I COULD HEAR A CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED IT AGAIN, AFTER 2 TRIES THE TRUCK STARTED. IF THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT WHOM DO I CONTACT TO HELP ME RESOLVE THIS MATTER. I AM AFRAID THIS TRUCK IN IT'S CURRENT CONDITION MAY BE A HAZARD TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. *TR

VEHICLE TURNED ON AND AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF DRIVE WAY, THE TRUCK TURNED OFF AND COULD NOT GET IT TO TURN BACK ON, IT MAKES ONLY A CLICKING SOUND, I HAVE CALLED THREE DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERS AND SAY TO NOT HAVE THE PART OR KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE. IT HAS BEEN 5 MONTHS SINCE THE RECALL, HOW MUCH LONGER SHOULD ANY ONE HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE AVAILABILITY OF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND I AM NOW WITHOUT A VEHICLE, WHICH IS MY ONLY MEANS OF COMMUTING. AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORST RIGHT NOW I DON'T HAVE THE MEANS TO FIX IT OUT OF POCKET, I CAN'T AFFORD IT. PLEASE ASSIST IN THIS MATTER, SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE. *TR

WE HAVE CALLED JEEP TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE VEHICLE. THE COMPUTER TO THE TRANSMISSION IS PUTTING IN GEARS THAT ARE NOT CORRECT. SOMETIMES U CAN LET GAS GO AND JEEP WILL BE RUNNING 20 TO 30 MILES ON ITS OWN. ALSO YESTERDAY I PUT THE JEEP ON NEUTRAL AND IT WENT REVERSE REAL FAST ABOUT 15 MILES. THE JEEP WAS LEVEL SO NO EXCUSE WHY IT SHOULD BE GOING BACKWARDS ON NEUTRAL. I HAVE CALLED JEEP AND LET THEM KNOW AND THEY TELL ME I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO GET FIXED. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO DO THIS RIGHT NOW. THIS CAN REALLY CAUSE A ACCIDENT IF SOMEONE WAS IN THE BACK OF MY JEEP AT THAT TIME . I TOOK IT TO GET CHECKED AT AUTO ZONE AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS FACTORY CODES AND THEY COULD NOT HELP BUT WHAT THE TRUCK WAS DOING COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. *TR

WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND WAS ACCELERATING TO ABOUT 55MPH, WHEN MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER STOPPED ACCELERATING AND HAD APPARENTLY JUMPED INTO NEUTRAL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON AT THAT TIME. I HAD TO PULL OVER PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE, AND THEN IT WAS FINE. THIS EXACT SAME THING HAS OCCURRED ABOUT 3-4 TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON ANOTHER OCCASION. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD START. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT HE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
