ENGINE STALLS AT SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAYS AND HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK.

DRIVING UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS THE VEHICLE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF AND STALLS. THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY, MOSTLY AT SPEEDS OF ABOUT 45-60 MPH. THE TWO RECALLS AVAILABLE ON THE VEHICLE AS IT RELATES TO THIS ISSUE (TCM/PCM ) ( IGNITION SWITCH) HAVE BEEN RECENTLY FIXED BY THE DEARLERSHIP, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO MULFUNCTION IN THE SAME MANNER AND APPEARS TO BE GETTING WORSE. CONTACTING CHRYSLER, THEY ARE ABRASIVE AND UNCOOPERATIVE. A LITTLE RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL OWNER COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY ISSUE DATING BACK TO 2006-2007-2008. THERE APPEARS TO BE AN "ACTIVE" INVESTIGATION ONGOING BY THE NHTSA-OFFICE OF DEFECTS INVESTIGATIONS. WHAT IS THE STATUS OF THIS INVESTIGATION-10 YEARS LATER??? THERE APPEARS TO BE NO INTEREST ON THE PART OF THE MANAUFACTURER TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITHOUT THE VEHICLE OWNER INCURRING MASSIVE LOSES IN ENDLESS DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR EXPENSES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4X2. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER MOVED OUT OF THE DRIVE POSITION INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PLACE THE VEHICLE BACK INTO THE DRIVE POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V175000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE PARTS NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

IN ADDITION, THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED TO TURN IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE. UPON CHANGING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR, THE RPMS REVVED AND FORCE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET THE VEHICLE TO CHANGE GEARS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT HAD BEEN OVER A YEAR THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. MY CAR CUT OUT AT 65 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I LOST MY POWER BRAKES AND STEERING. ADDITIONALLY I LOST MY AIRBAGS. THIS IS THE 12TH TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED. I CALLED JEEP AND ASKED FOR A LOANER OR RENTAL TILL THIS IS RESOLVED BECAUSE THERE IS NO FIX AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT. I HAVE NOTHING ON MY KEY RING THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS PROBLEM AND MY KNEE IS 8 INCHES FROM THE IGNITION SO I KNOW I DID NOT BUMP IT WITH MY KNEE. JEEP WILL NOT WORK WITH ME AND STATE IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND I SHOULD BE CAREFUL AND TRY NOT TO HIT ANY BUMPS. *TR

I THINK IT WAS AROUND APRIL 20TH, I WOULD HAVE TO CHECK THE DATE FOR SURE..WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE DOING ABOUT 70 MPH AND THE VEH STARTED LOSING POWER.. IT MADE A TERRIBLE NOISE , SOUNDED IF YOU WERE ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND IT WAS VIBRATING TERRIBLE. IT HAS A TERRIBLE SMELL TOO IT AND LOST TOTAL POWER AND HAD TO PULL OVER. MY HUSBAND GOT OUT AND LOOKED AND THERE WAS OIL POURING OUT OF THE REAR END. THE CAR WOULD HARDLY MOVE AT ALL. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED THE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WENT OUT. THE JEEP HAD 62000 ON IT AND LOOKS AND ROAD LIKE A BRAND NEW CAR TILL THEN. WE HAD THAT REPAIRED 750.00 COST. NOWWWWWWWW WE HAVE A TERRIBLE LEAK NOT SURE WHERE IT IS COMING FROM, WHEN IT RAINS WE GET 3 INCHES OF WATER IN THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR BOARD, IT LEAKED SO BAD THE WIRING IS SHORTING OUT NOW. THE CARPET IS GETTING MOLDED AND HAS A BAD SMELL TOO IT. WE CAN NOT FIND THE LEAK WHAT SO EVER AND IT IS GETTING RATHER FRUSTRATING HAVING TO HAVE YOUR FEET IN 3 INCHES OF WATER WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE. THE SPEAKERS ON THE LEFT SIDE IF SHORTED OUT ON THE SATELLITE RADIO BUT WILL WORK FINE ON CD'S OR AM FM. THERE ARE REPORTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE WITH JEEP COMMANDERS. THIS NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED FOR RECALL AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE CHECK PARK ASSIST WARNING STARTED TO FLASH INTERMITTENTLY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, ALL GEAR INDICATORS ON THE DASH WOULD LIGHT UP AT THE SAME TIME. THERE WAS INITIALLY NO OTHER INDICATION THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. EVENTUALLY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS NEEDING A NEW TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THE SAME EVENTS OCCURRED WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF INSTALLING THE NEW MODULE. DEALER REPLACED IT AGAIN AND SAID THE PART WAS FAULTY. THE SAME EVENTS OCCURRED AGAIN WITH THE NEXT MONTH. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM AND RESET THE COMPUTER/WIPED THE ERROR. IT OCCURRED AGAIN AND PROGRESSED TO THE CAR LOOSING ACCELERATING POWER WHILE DRIVING AND/OR SHIFTING IN TO LOWER GEARS FOR NO REASON. NEW DEALER THIS TIME, SAYS THAT IT IS THE SHIFTING CONTROL MODULE. REVIEW OF THE ISSUE ON-LINE SHOWS A LONG HISTORY OF THIS PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH I AM FORTUNATE ENOUGH NOT TO HAVE IT HAPPEN WITHIN A FEW YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PASSENGERS WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS DOWN AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND/OR ACCIDENTS BECAUSE THE DRIVER NO LONGER HAS CONTROL OF ACCELERATION. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN WHETHER THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DEFECT AND PLANNED TO NOTIFY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. I WILL NOT DRIVE MY CHILDREN WITH THIS VEHICLE UNTIL CHRYSLER FIX THE PROBLEM.I HAVE FILED COMPLAINT WITH THE COMPANY FEW WEEKS AGO ABOUT STALLING ON STOP LIGHTS AND THEY SAID THAT I NEED TO SHOW THE SERVICE PERSON THE PROBLEM ,BUT THAT VERY DAY THE VEHICLE WAS IN A GOOD MOOD AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO SHOW THE PROBLEM.THE CHRYSLER PERSON TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL PUT MY CASE ON HOLD FOR NOW( I GUESS THEY WILL LOOK INTO IT AFTER THE BLOODY CRASH). MY 2006 JEEP COMANNDER IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS LISTED BY MANY OWNERS, DELAYED TRANMISSION ENGAGEMENT, WARNING LIGHTS FLASHING ON & OFF, WON'T START. IT HAS STALLED ONCE. I HAVE CHECKED MY VIN # FOR RECALLS AND IT'S NOT ON ANY LIST. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AND HAVE NO OTHER TRANPORTATION. THE DEALER I CONTACTED HAS NOT HEARD ABOUT THE FLASHING LIGHT PROBLEM AND HAS NOT GOT BACK TO ME AFTER GIVING HIM MY VIN #. IN ADDITION, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES AS OTHER OWNERS SUCH AS; TRANSMISSION NOISES AND SLIPPAGE, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURES, EXCESSIVE BREAK NOISE, BREAK WEAR, EXCESSIVE CRACKING IN WINDSHIELD, SEATBELT FAILURE, WINDOW LEAKS, STEREO REPLACEMENT AND MORE! IN THE LAST 9 MONTHS THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR MORE THAN 6 TIMES FOR SIMILAR ISSUES. THE DEALER, AS WITH OTHER CUSTOMERS HAS CLAIMED THEY "CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM..." AND SENT US ON OUR WAY. I HAVE NOW EMBARKED UPON HAVING THE VEHICLE BOUGHT BACK BY THE MANUFACTURER AND WILL ALSO BEGIN A FORMAL LEGAL CASE TO ENSURE OTHER OWNERS RECEIVE RETRIBUTION. JEEP COMMANDER WITH ONLY 7,300 MILES, AND OWNED SINCE SEPT 2006 HAS TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I HAVE ALREADY BEEN OUT OF A CAR FOR 4 DAYS, WILL BE OUT OF A CAR FOR ANOTHER 7 AT A MINIMUM ACCORDING TO ALLEN SAMUELS DODGE (DEALER IN KELLER, TX). WILL NOT HELP WITH RENTAL CAR OR LOANER CAR. *NM
I PURCHASED A JEEP COMMANDER IN DECEMBER 2005. RIGHT OFF I STARTED HAVING ELECTRICAL AND WATER LEAKING PROBLEMS WITH MY JEEP. THE VEHICLE WOULD MYSTERIOUSLY TURN OFF WHILE IDLING AND WOULD ACCELERATE QUICKLY FOR NO REASON. IN MARCH I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE DEFECTS. THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT AT THE TIME WAS WHEN YOU OPEN YOUR DOOR TO GET IN YOU LITERALLY GET A FOOT SOAKING!!!!!!!!! THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT RESOLVE ANY OF THE ISSUES THAT I HAD. THEY EVEN LAUGHED WHEN I ASKED THEM WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE DOOR AND SAID I BETTER GET USED TO IT BECAUSE JEEP WAS NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IN JUNE OF 2006 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AND I WAS STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING AND DECIDED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALER. THE DEALER AT THAT TIME TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT THAT IT WAS A MINOR REPAIR AND THEY COULD FIX IT WHEN I SETTLED IN. SO ON THE 16TH OF SEPTEMBER I RELEASED MY VEHICLE TO DAVE SMITH AUTO FOR REPAIR. I TOLD THEM I WANTED THE LEAKING DOORS (NOW THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS LEAKING AS WELL) FIXED OR REPLACED, WHILE THEY WERE FIXING THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THEIR SHOP FOR A WHOLE MONTH!! THEY COULD NOT GET PARTS FROM JEEP AND THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX THE DOORS. JEEP TOLD THEM IT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO ABOUT IT. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME ON OCTOBER 13TH , ON SATURDAY THE 14TH MY FAMILY WAS RETURNING HOME WHEN WE LOST ALL PANEL ELECTRICAL, I SLOWED DOWN AND SINCE WE WERE ONLY A MILE AWAY FROM HOME, I CONTINUED TO DRIVE. NOT EVEN 100 YARDS LATER THE WHOLE CAR WENT INTO COMPLETE CONVULSION. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO DAVE SMITH AND THEY ARE AGAIN ATTEMPTING TO FIX IT THIS CAR HAS PUT MY FAMILY IN GREAT DANGER!!! YET JEEP WILL NOT RECALL OR REFUND MY MONEY, IT IS AN OUTRAGE TO ME THAT THEY CAN SELL A VEHICLE AND NOT HAVE TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT!!! *NM
