WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE SHUTS COMPLETELY OFF, CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. JEEP DEALER SAID NO RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM. VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION, I HAVE BEEN ALMOST INVOLVED IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS. THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE ON THE COMPUTER WHO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM.

TTHE 4.7 ENGINE SUDDENLY QUITS WHILE DRIVING, BOTH AT HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS.. I HAVE HAD TO PULL INTO BREAKDOWN LANES IF ANY, WITH NO POWERS STEERING, AND AT GREAT RISK COASTING ACROSS LANES TO SAFETY. THE JEEP DEALER IN MY AREA SAID THERENARE NO RECALLS, ALTHOUGH MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITH THE ENGINE QUITTING. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DEFECT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU CANT GET OVER TO A SAFE SPOT.

Original owner of this vehicle. Has 73,000 on 5.7 hemi engine. Engine blew up on 12/25/2022. Only warning was the gauge went to overheat high red. Stopped vehicle, at fuel station and added more anti freeze. Gauge dropped to while normal range. Got back on highway drove 7 miles and enginle like came on and heat gauge went to high red then dropped to nothing. Got vehilcle off the road and it immediately shut down. Engine blew up. Had vehilcle towed to Jeep Dealership 12/26/2022. Need engine replaced at only 73, 000 miles. Chrysler no longer makes this engine and a rebuilt will have to go into this vehicle. No offer or explanation of why this engine blew up with such low mileage. I was left stranded in 5 degree weather for about 45 minutes along interstate trying to get my roadside assistance to help. They couldn't speak understandable english. After 40 minutes of this call I ended up calling State Police for help. I knew I was starting to go into hypothermia. State Police arrived in minutes and put me in their car to warm me up and they called tow co. That co. showed up in 15 minutes. I called Chrysler myself to try to find a new engine but they discontinued this engine in July 2022, early cut off for an engine. No new engines in inventory. No offer of any kind to assist or ask questions about possible injury/causes/or where the vehicle was. No engine should blow with this low mileage. Why did they cut off mfg of this engine so early? No answers. Vehicle is at Hillview Motors, Greensburg, PA 15601(Jeep Dealership) for repair. Jeep Dealership inspected engine and determined it was blown. Only warning was guage went hot then engine blew. Nothing in the past on this vehicle.

Unknown. While my vehicle is set on cruise control and the weather is over 50 degrees or the air is running my cruise control will shut off. Warning lights abs, esp bas, & stability control will come on, then my cruise control won’t work anymore. Now just this morning going up a hill my car wouldn’t go pass 20 mph while my foot was to the floor basically. Then almost to the top of the hill it took off. The rmps went high Jeep shifted to next gear. Of course took my foot off petal and pushed brakes slightly. As slowing down it started shifting hard with high rmps still. I have done a new tune up and new transmission within the last 6 months. Before the new transmutation it was still doing this. The reason to replace the transmission was my Jeep just stopped completely moving. I don’t have the money to keep taking my Jeep back to the dealership for them to keep telling me they don’t know the problem. If nothing gets done about this sadly I will have to get rid of it. The cruise accrues when I’m on the highway going 60 to 65 mps. The shifting problem happen in town. Which both issues could cause a serious car wreck and harm to others and my self.

I have a jeep commander 2007 limited. According to your recall dates my VIN number doesn’t fall within those dates for my car to have the recall. Although my jeep is completely stallling out while driving 69 mph, I mean loss of all electrical inside my jeep. Power steering fails, engine shuts off, I am lucky enough that my brakes still work but who is to say that won’t happen again. So when looking my VIN number up seeing that this is ONE of the recalls, my VIN number ISNT part of the vehicles that was affected by the recall but I’m still encountering the SAME issue as the recall. I’ve taken it to my mechanic he cannot seem to find the problem. I need help I just bought this car! It’s our family car so it’s not only affecting me it’s my entire family. My husband, my two year older and my elderly parents.

INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUE. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE, I HAVE 2 KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND NEED TO GET TO IMPORTANT APPOINTMENTS. I START MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER, I GET TO WHERE I AM GOING, WHEN I GO TO RESTART MY VEHICLE IT SOMETIMES DOESN'T WANT TO START. IT WILL CRANK OVER JUST REFUSES TO START. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE MECHANICS LOOK AT MY JEEP AND NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT REASONING TO THIS INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUE. I HAVE PUT SO MUCH MONEY AND WORK INTO MY JEEP FOR IT TO KEEP DOING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE LAST MECHANIC I TOOK IT TOO SEEN CODE ERROR IN THE DISPLAY WINDOW ON DASH 'TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP' WHEN HE HAD TRIED TO START IT. IT DOES NOT DO THIS EVERY TIME THE WILL BE DAYS IT CONTINUOUSLY STARTS EVERY TIME THEN THERE ARE DAYS THAT IT'S INTERMITTENT, AND DAYS IT WILL NOT START AT ALL. THE MECHANIC STARTING LOOKIN ON JEEP FORUMS ABOUT THIS ISSUE THERE ARE TONS OF REPORTS OF THE SAME ISSUE BUT NO SOLUTION. MY MECHANIC SAID JEEP IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE. HE SAID HE BELIEVES IT IS A PROGRAMMING ISSUE THE CAR THINKS THE TRANSMISSION IS OVER TEMP SO IT SENDS SIGNAL TO THE ENGINE THAT IT'S TOO HOT AND THE ENGINE SENDS SIGNAL TO THE FUEL PUMP THAT THERE IS A TEMPERATURE ISSUE DO NOT TURN ON. WHEN IT CRANKS OVER IT ACTS AS IF IT ISN'T GETTING ANY FUEL AT ALL. I HAVE PURCHASED A NEW FUEL PUMP AND SOME OTHER PARTS THE ISSUE IS HAPPENING. I BOUGHT THE JEEP IN APRIL OF 2020 OFF OF ANOTHER OWNER, THE ISSUE DIDN'T START WITH ME UNTIL JANUARY OF 2021, THE PREVIOUS OWNER MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO THEM WHEN I ASKED THEM. CAN SOMETHING PLEASE BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE SO MYSELF AND THOUSANDS OF OTHER 2007 JEEP COMMANDER OWNERS CAN GET BACK TO ENJOYING OUR VEHICLES???? THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO BUTLER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP DEALER, 188 ROBERT SMALLS PKWY, BEAUFORT, SC 29906, DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT BEING ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. THE KEY WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE THE ENGINE WAS IDLING AND AT AFTER START-UP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOSAK JEEP (3111 W. LINCOLN HWY MERRILLVILLE, IN 46410) AND AN UNKNOWN RELAY SWITCH WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MECHANIC THEN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, CAMSHAFT SENSOR, AND POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,700.

UPON STARTING THE ENGINE READS A HIGH IDLE, DRIVE THE JEEP DOWN THE ROAD AND A RED LIGHTNING BOLT APPEARS AND THEN ACROSS THE DASH READS CHECK GAUGES. AT THIS POINT THE COOLANT GAUGE QUITS WORKING. IF SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE JEEP SOMETIMES WON'T START AND WILL SAY TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING EVEN WHEN IT'S NOT. IT WILL SOUND LIKE THE STARTER IS STUCK AND KEEP TRYING TO START UNTIL THE KEY IS REMOVED. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES OF IT SITTING IT WILL NOW START AND THE GAUGES WILL WORK PROPERLY AND NO WARNING LIGHTS. ALREADY REPLACED THERMOSTAT AND TEMPERATURE SENSOR.

WE HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH OUR JEEP JUST SUDDENLY TURNING OFF. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION SPECIALLY SINCE WE HAVE OUR KIDS IN THE JEEP WITH US WHEN IT HAPPENS. WE COULD BE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE JEEP WILL JUST SHUT OFF AND WILL NOT SHOW NO PROBLEM CODES. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED AND NO SPEED. WE TURN THE JEEP ON A LET IT WARM UP. ABOUT 2 MINUTES LATER IT SHUTS OFF. WE HAVE TO TURN IT BACK ON. THEN WE WOULD BE DRIVING AT SPEED BELOW 30 MPH AND TURNS OFF. AND MOST DANGEROUSLY ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT JUST TURNS OFF AND WE HAVE TO PULL OVER AND THIS IS HARD SPECIALLY BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL IS SO STIFF. HOPEFULLY JEEP/CHRYSLER CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

I BOUGHT THIS JEEP 10-4-19. SINCE I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE IT HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIME WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPEN WAS WITH MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I FIRST THOUGHT SHE JUST DID SOMETHING WRONG AND DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF THE ISSUE. UNTIL I WAS TAKING MY SON TO A BASEBALL CAMP IN UT KNOXVILLE. IT DIED ON US TWICE WHILE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT TOOK US ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES AND IT FINALLY WOULD START BACK UP AND RUN NORMAL. ON THE TRIP HOME IT RAN FINE UNTIL WE CROSSED OVER THE GEORGIA STATE LINE AND IT DIED ONE MORE TIME. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY. I READ SOMEWHERE THAT IT WAS A GROUNDING ISSUE SO I PULLED THE GROUND WIRES OFF TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE TOUCHING METAL. THIS HASN'T HELPED AND THE VEHICLE WILL STILL STALL WHILE DRIVING OR AT STOP LIGHTS. I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY KIDS TO DRIVE BUT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE I'VE READ ABOUT. I'M AFRAID TO LET MY KIDS OR WIFE DRIVE THIS CAR. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED CONSIDERING THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE. I'VE STARTED DOCUMENTING THE TIMES IT STALLS TO SEE IF THERE IS A PATTERN. 11/7/19 8 PM IN TRAFFIC, 11/12/19 8 AM IN TRAFFIC, 11/20/19 LOWS PARKING LOT, 12/2/19 10:17 PM AT RED LIGHT - THEN AGAIN 10:29 AT ANOTHER RED LIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. ALSO THE SPEEDS WERE FROM 35 MPH TO 75 MPH DOESN'T MATTER.

WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT IN THE FAST LANE ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 65 MPH, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING AND I NOTICED THAT ALL DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS A FAST-LANE SHOULDER THAT I WAS ABLE TO STEER IT ON, OR I MIGHT HAVE BEEN KILLED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RE-START SO I DISCONNECTED THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RE-CONNECTED IT AND THEN THE VEHICLE RE-STARTED BUT RAN VERY ROUGH. I PROCEEDED ALONG THE SHOULDER TO TRY AND GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, BUT THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AGAIN. I REPEATED THE SAME PROCESS AND IT AGAIN RE-STARTED AND I MANAGED TO DRIVE HOME ON BACK ROADS AT 40 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AT LEAST THREE OTHER OCCASIONS, BUT THE INCIDENTS OCCURRED MANY MONTHS APART, WHICH MADE ME THINK IT WAS A ONE-OFF SITUATION. I HAVE SINCE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE LEARNED THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM. I THINK THIS IS A TRAGEDY IN THE MAKING IF CHRYSLER DOES NOT ADDRESS THIS DEFICIENCY BY ISSUING AN IMMEDIATE RECALL. I ALSO REQUEST THAT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP INSPECT MY VEHICLE AT NO COST TO ME. ENGINE DOES NOT START SOMETIMES, HAVE HAD RECALLED IGNITION PUT IN ALREADY. THEN IT STALLED ON HIGHWAY, HAD IT TOWED TO MECHANIC, COULDN'T GET IT JUMPED. HE TOOK OFF SERPENTINE BELT AND SHOWED US ENGINE WAS LOCKED UP. IT HAS A 5.7 HEMI IN IT. I GET ALL FLUIDS CHANGED WHEN I'M SUPPOSED TO. CHANGE OIL AND FILTER RELIGIOUSLY WITH BEST OIL AND FILTER AVAILABLE . MECHANIC EVEN SAID ALL FLUIDS LOOKED GREAT. HE CAN'T UNDERSTAND IT. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS, FROM LEAKING WEEPHOLES IN SON ROOF TO DRIVETRAIN, NOT WANTING TO START AND STALLING WHEN EVER TO NOW A SEIZED ENGINE!

TAKATA RECALL ABOUT A MONTH AGO I WAS TRAVELING AT 70MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. WHEN EXITING THE INTERSTATE MY CAR JUST SHUT IT'S SELF OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS, SOUNDS, ETC. WE TRIED FOR ABOUT 20 MINS TO GET IT TO START BACK AND STAY RUNNING ONCE RUNNING WE TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO A MECHANIC WHO PUT IT ON A MACHINE. NO PROBLEMS SHOWED UP ON THE MACHINE AT ALL AND IT'S BEEN FINE EVER SINCE UNTIL TODAY. THIS TIME MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN.

MANY OF THE VEHICLES FROM 07 AND UP HAD A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT REASON BUT UNFORTUNATELY MINE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL. I AM CERTAIN THAT THIS IS MY ISSUE BUT THE MANUFACTURER HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT PAYING AN ARM AND A LEG.

THIS WORRIES ME AS I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT COMPLETE STALLS AT HIGH SPEEDS AND THIS COULD CAUSE A SEVERE ACCIDENT. MY JEEP HAS 150,000 MILES ON IT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE THERE IS A FATALITY.

I HAVE HAD ALL SENSORS REPLACED MORE THAN ONCE AND NUMEROUS OTHER PARTS WITH THE LATEST BEING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I HAVE SPENT SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TRYING TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE. TODAY WAS MY BREAKING POINT, I WAS DRIVING ON I-24 TO NASHVILLE TO TAKE MY SON TO AN APPOINTMENT AT VANDERBILT. IT WAS RAINING THIS MORNING, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RED LIGHTING BOLT AND OTHER LIGHTS CAME ON. I SHUT THE JEEP OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT WAS NORMAL AGAIN WITH JUST THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I WAS SO SCARED TO DRIVE BACK TO CLARKSVILLE, FEARING THAT IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. I SAW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THIS ISSUE. I CALLED CORPORATE AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING REALLY THEY CAN DO. I SAID WHAT IS IT GOING TAKE, SOMEONE, DYING OR GETTING INTO A WRECK?? I AM DISAPPOINTED IN HOW THIS HAS BEEN HANDLED. MY LATEST CARFAX SHOWS THAT THIS JEEP HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUES OVER AND OVER, WITH NOTHING REALLY GETTING RESOLVED.

I HAVE OWN THIS CAR FOR 5 YEARS AND IT DID SHUT DOWN ON ME DUE TO I DID HIT THE INGESTION SWITCH WITH MY KNEE AS WE WERE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. A COUPLE YEARS GO AFTER THAT WITH NO ISSUE. NOW MY 17 YEAR OLD GIRL DRIVES IT NOW WITH NO ISSUE. GOT RECALL LITTLER IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT. GOT SWITCH REPLACED AND ONE FOR A RE-FLASH ON THE POWER TRAIN. NOW AFTER THAT IT HAS STALLED OUT ON MY DAUGHTER 2 TIMES A MOUTH APART WHEN STOP TO MAKE A TURN GOING TO SCHOOL. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A FAULTY FRONT CONTROL MODULE AND ONLY GOING OFF OF STORED CODES B211E & B211A AND DON'T KNOW HOW MANY COUNTS OR HOW OLD THEY ARE. THE SERVICE WRITER COULD NOT TELL ME THAT IS A FIX AND THE TECH SAID THAT IS WHAT IT NEED . I TOOK THE CAR HOME AND I CAN NOT FIND THESE CODES ANYWHERE ONLINE. I DID FIND A LOT OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME THING AND THE FCM HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH MANY OTHER SENSORS AND THEY STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. SO THAT MY HAVE SAVED ME OVER $500 THAT MAY OR MAY NOT FIX IT.. I THE PARENT AM DRIVING THE CAR NOW TILL I CAN THIS FIGURED OUT. EVEN WHILE AT A STAND STILL, THE ENGINE HAS DIED ON ME. THESE INCIDENTS THAT I HAVE DESCRIBED HAVE HAPPENED TO ME AND MY WIFE MORE THAN ONCE FOR EACH SITUATION THAT I MENTIONED HERE. IT IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENS TO US WHEN ON A HIGHWAY. THE FIRST TIME MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND WE HAVE OUR CHILD WITH US. THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, GOING ABOUT 60-65 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I STARTING LOSING POWER, TACHOMETER STARTING GOING DOWN AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE AND SIGNIFICANTLY HARD TO PUSH DOWN ON IT, THE SPEED CONTINUED TO GO DOWN AS I WAS TRYING TO GET TO THE SHOULDER AS FAST AS I COULD BUT WITH AN UNRESPONSIVE ENGINE IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT. IT WAS ALSO DIFFICULT TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AS THIS GOT HARDEN. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND HAD TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER WAITING 10-15 MINUTES, I TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO GET TO MY DESTINATION WHICH WAS NOT FAR FROM WHERE I HAD TO PULL OVER. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND I'M AFRAID THIS WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN NEXT TIME I DRIVE MY VEHICLE WHICH IS EVERY DAY. THIS WAS NOT A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE AT ALL AND IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING WHEN YOU ARE ON A HIGHWAY AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN HAVE NO CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE, IT IS DEFINITELY NOT SAFE AT ALL. THIS JEEP HAS GONE THROUGH ALL THE RECALLS THAT I HAVE GOTTEN IN THE MAIL.

THANK GOD WE ALL WERE ABLE TO SAFELY MAKE IT OUT THE JEEP WITHOUT BEIMG INJURED. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP WERE I WAS TOLD MY MOTOR LOCKED UP. WHEN I ASKED THE MECHANIC HOW WAS THAT POSSIBLE HE SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN BEFORE. IT HAD OIL AND IT WASN'T RUNNING HOT AT ALL. IT NEVER RAN HOT AT ANY POINT ACTUALLY. WHEN HE CHECKED, HE FOUND THE JEEP DIDN'T HAVE ANY COOLANT BUT COULD NOT GIVE REASON TO WHY THIS HAPPENED. I CONTACTED SEVERAL JEEP DEALERSHIPS THAT TOLD ME THAT NEVER HADN'T NEVER BEEN ANY RECALL ON MY JEEP BUT I FOUND SEVERAL THINGS ON THE INTERNET STATING THAT THE ENGINE AND COOLANT SYSTEM A ON MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN AN ISSUE WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS SAME YEAR; MAKE AND MODEL OF MY VEHICLE.

REPAIR SHOP REPORTED THAT DUE TO NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THE MODULE ACROSS THE COUNTY, THE REPLACEMENT PART IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE AND MAY TAKE UP TO A WEEK OR LONGER BEFORE THE PART IS AVAILABLE. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A COMMON FAULT IN THESE VEHICLES AND RENDERS OUR VEHICLE INOPERABLE FOR AN UNACCEPTABLE LENGTH OF TIME.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WOULD JUST SHUT OFF AT RANDOM LOSING BRAKES, STEERING AND ENGINE POWER AS WELL AS OTHER COMFORT FEATURES. IT HAS HAPPENED ON AT LEAST 6 OCCASIONS, USUALLY YOU COULD JUST SHIFT TO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AND RESTART THE CAR FIXING THE ISSUES. TODAY HOWEVER IT HAPPENED WILL SWITCHING LANES TO THE CENTER TURN LANE. UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES TO WAIT TO TURN LEFT THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, THEN ON THE SECOND DEPRESS IT WAS SUPER STIFF AND VERY LITTLE BRAKING FORCE APPLIED. THIS CAUSED THE JEEP TO REAR END THE 2 OTHER CARS WAITING TO TURN LEFT. THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY EITHER.

MY JEEP HAS BEEN GIVING ME PROBLEMS. I DROVE IT TO BIRMINGHAM, ALA FOR 3 TRIPS AND THE GAS MILEAGE DECLINED EACH TIME ( 19-17-13) MILE TO THE GALLON. THE JEEP ALSO STARTED SHAKING AND TRYING TO STOP, ESPECIALLY WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND STANDING STILL. I TOOK THE JEEP TO CHRIS MYERS IN DAPHNE, AL TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I LEFT IT FOR 2 DAYS AND GAVE THEM COMPLAINTS OF SMELLING GAS WHEN STARTING THE ENGINE, SHAKING AT IDLE, AND LOW GAS MILEAGE. THEY DID THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND FOUND MULTIPLE CYL MISFIRE. FOUND SPARK PLUGS FOULED AND TRASH IN THE FUEL RAIL. THEY REPLACED SPARK PLUGS & CLEANED FUEL RAIL. IT WAS $607.12. I DROVE THE JEEP HOME AND SEVERAL DAYS LATER IT DID THE SAME THING, STOPPING WHEN AT REGULAR SPEED ALMOST HAVING AN ACCIDENT. I CALLED THE MANAGER HE STATED TO BRING IT BACK & WOULD RECHECK IT, BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. HE ALSO STATED IT WAS THE FUEL I WAS USING, I HAVE A TRUCK WHICH USES THE SAME GAS & HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH IT. COULD THEY NOT FIND THE PROBLEM . I DID NOT TAKE IT BACK BECAUSE THEY WERE RUDE AND I LIVE 30 MILES FROM THE DEALER. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE JEEP. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK THE JEEP TO A LOCAL AUTO MECHANIC & AFTER THE TEST HE FOUND 2 OF THE O2 SENSORS WERE CLOGGED, PROBABLY FROM THE FUEL LINE BEING CLEANED. HE REPAIRED THIS, THE JEEP STILL RAN POORLY AND STOPPING WHEN AT IDLE SPEED. HE CHECKED THE COMPUTER AND FOUND IT WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. HE KEPT THE JEEP FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND TOLD ME HE WOULD NOT LET IT GO BECAUSE HE FELT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, UNTIL ALL WAS PROPERLY WORKING .I THINK I WAS RIPPED OFF BY THE FIRST JOB SINCE IT WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY WEN THE FIRST JOB WAS DONE. IN THE SUMMER OF 2014, I WAS REVERSING AND MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER TURNED OFF TWICE. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY SINCE THEN. MY JEEP TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING UP TO 30 MILES AN HOUR, AND WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, AND/OR A STOP SIGN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SOMETIMES TURNS ON, BUT NOT ALWAYS WHEN JEEP TURNS OFF. SOMETIMES IT MAKES A 'HUFFING PUFFING' NOISE LIKE IT'S STRUGGLING TO STAY ON (BEFORE IT ACTUALLY TURNS OFF). IT ALWAYS TURNS ON RIGHT AFTER, BUT I HAVE NOTICED IT MAKES A LOUD SQUEAKY SOUND WHEN IT TURNS ON AFTER I CRANK IT. THAT SQUEAKY SOUND, SOUNDS LIKE THE SOUND IT MAKES WHEN SOMEONE TRIES TO CRANK ON THE VEHICLE AFTER VEHICLE IS ALREADY BEEN ON. THE CHRYSLER RECALL CENTER MAILED ME A RECALL P41 NOTICE LAST SUMMER/FALL IN 2014. I TOOK IT TO THE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP IN MCALLEN, TEXAS FOR RECALL P41 SERVICE AT THAT TIME. I'VE TAKEN MY JEEP TO SEVERAL MECHANICS SINCE THEN, BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICEMEN AT DEALERSHIP SAID TO KEEP CHECKING IN WITH THEM TO SEE IF THEY HAVE THE PART. THEY SAID PROBLEM IS NOT RELATED TO RECALL P41...AND KEEP ADVISING ME OF OTHER POSSIBLE PROBLEMS. I'VE FIXED ALL OF THE POSSIBLE PROBLEMS SUGGESTED, AND YET THE 'TURNING OFF' STILL CONTINUES! THE SERVICE MANAGER AT DEALERSHIP, AND THE CHRYSLER RECALL CENTER PEOPLE KEEP TELLING ME THAT CHRYSLER HAS NOT MADE PART AVAILABLE, AND FOR ME TO REMOVE ANY EXTRA KEYS FROM THE KEY RING, AND TO CONTINUE DRIVING ME JEEP UNTIL THE PART IS AVAILABLE. ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK ONE NIGHT MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY AND HAD IT CHECKED. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS THE KNOCK SENSOR CAUSING THE WARNING. HE HAD TO ORDER THE PARTS TO REPLACE THE SENSORS. AFTER THEY WERE REPLACED IT WAS JUST FINE FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS. THE CHECK ENGINE CAME BACK ON AGAIN. TOOK BACK TO OUR MECHANIC HE SAID THEY WERE BAD AND REPLACED THEM AGAIN. THE FIRST TWO WERE SETS FROM AUTO PARTS SUPPLIERS BUT WHEN THE SECOND PART FAILED HE ORDERED A SET FROM THE JEEP DEALER. WELL THEY FAILED. HE HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE JEEP DEALER TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. ACCORDING TO THEM THEY HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE KNOCK SENSOR. I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE. MY MECHANIC IS AT HIS WITS END ABOUT IT. HE CONTACTED THE DEALER ABOUT THE COST TO HAVE THEM CHECK THEM OUT. I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER, 5.7L HEMI AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ON INTERSTATE 16 AT APPROXIMATELY 2200 HOURS WITH MY TWO MINOR CHILDREN SEATBELTED IN THE BACK. WE WERE APPROXIMATELY 150 MILES FROM HOME. THERE WAS HEAVY TRAFFIC DUE TO A HOLIDAY WEEKEND, ROAD CONSTRUCTION, AND RAINY WEATHER. I RECOGNIZED A PROBLEM WAS OCCURRING BECAUSE I COULD NOT ACCELERATE, AND MY ATTENTION WAS DIVERTED FROM DRIVING BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I REALIZED THAT THE ENGINE HAD CUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WAS NO POWER TO ANYTHING, AND THE VEHICLE WAS VERY HARD TO STEER AND TO STOP. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE, PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO RESTART THE ENGINE. I WAS ABLE TO CHECK UNDER THE HOOD AND I FOUND THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS IN THE NORMAL RANGE AND THE OIL APPEARED CLEAN. THE ANTIFREEZE IN THE RESERVOIR WAS IN THE NORMAL RANGE AND THERE WAS NO BUBBLING. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, POWER STEERING FLUID, AND BRAKE FLUID WERE ALSO WITHIN NORMAL RANGES. AFTER ANOTHER TRY, IT RESTARTED, THEN THERE WAS A LOUD METAL CLANKING SOUND THEN COPIOUS SMOKE COMING FROM THE TAILPIPE, THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FLASHING. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE REGISTERED NORMAL. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND STARTED MAKING PHONE CALLS WITH THUNDERSTORMS AND SEVERE LIGHTNING COMPLICATING THE SITUATION. WE ARRANGED FOR A TOW TRUCK TO TRANSPORT US TO A NEARBY HOTEL, AND THE NEXT DAY I TOWED THE JEEP BACK HOME USING A UHAUL TRUCK. MECHANICS HAVE DETERMINED THAT A PISTON HEAD IS DAMAGED AND CRACKED AND THE JEEP IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP HAVING A NEW ENGINE INSTALLED. THEN STALLED IN TRAFFIC THE NEXT DAY WHILE I WAS TURNING ONTO A LOCAL STREET. THEN STALLED AGAIN PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY. THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR SIX WEEKS. THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH, COILS, COMPUTER SYSTEM, WIRING SYSTEM, THROTTLE. I PICKED THE CAR UP AT THE END OF MARCH, 2014. THE CAR WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL THIS PAST WEEKEND. IT STALLED AGAIN IN TRAFFIC WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING WITH FOUR PASSENGERS IN THE CAR ON APRIL 26, 2014. IT STALLED AGAIN WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON SUNDAY APRIL 27, 2014. I MOVED THE CAR TO CT, AND TO TX (WARRANTY COMPANIES CONTINUE TO TRACK MY ADDRESS, NO WORD OF RECALLS, THEY ALMOST STALK ME, I HAVE THE MAILINGS TO PROVE IT, WHICH I WOULD LIKE TO OPT-OUT FROM; ONLY USE AN E-MAIL FOR RECALLS). FOR MONTHS, AND YEARS, I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING THAT MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN ACCELERATING USUALLY WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, IT STALLS WHILE DRIVING, THE FRONT PANEL LIGHTS FLICKER EVEN SHUT OFF (SEEMS RUNNING ON AUTO PILOT), THE ENGINE SELF-SHUTS OFF FOR NO REASON. SOMETIMES ON THE FREEWAY, CLIMBING A SLIGHT INCLINE THE ENGINE SPUTTERS AND I LOSE SPEED AND CRAWL TO THE RIGHT LANE, AGAIN SOMETIME I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND REV THE ENGINE, SLAM IT IN DRIVE AND SOMETIME THAT WORKS. MY MECHANIC HAS HAD THE PCM TESTED, CHANGED SPARK PLUGS, COILS, OXYGEN SENSORS, ADDED EXTRA GROUND WIRES, CLEARED THE WIRING FOR SHORTS, CLEANED ALL ENGINE CONNECTORS INCLUDING INJECTORS PLUGS AND ROAD TEST THE VEHICLE WITH THE SCANNER CONNECTED. IT STARTED FINE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY, HOWEVER WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE WORK THAT NIGHT, IT TOOK A FEW TRIES AND ABOUT 5 MIN. I ALSO HAD OVER HALF A TANK OF GAS SO THAT'S NOT AN ISSUE. I STARTED RESEARCHING AND FOUND MANY SIMILAR CASES. I AM SUPPOSED TO TAKE MY JEEP ON A 13 HOUR TRIP NEXT MONTH AND NOW I AM VERY NERVOUS THAT I WILL END UP STRANDED WHILE ON VACATION. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS BEEN ON AND OFF FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS. WE HAVE CHANGED-OUT O2 SENSORS AND OTHER FIXES BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED BY THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP: FOUR OF THE BOLTS ATTACHING THE MANIFOLD ONTO THE HEMI 5.7L ENGINE OF OUR COMMANDER WERE BROKEN. THE BOLTS AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET ARE BEING REPLACED - $642 COST. *TR

THE COMMANDER WAS SLUGGISH ON A TRIP TO FLORIDA, WHEN I WOULD PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, IT WOULD HESITATE AND SPUTTER. THE MONTH BEFORE THIS TRIP, I JUST HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED AT 60K TO KEEP THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY INTACT. SO FIGURED SOMETHING WAS DONE INCORRECTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WE WOULD DEAL WITH IT WHEN WE RETURNED HOME. I WISH WE WOULD HAVE FOUND A REPAIR SHOP IN FL TO LOOK INTO IT AS THE JEEP TURNED OFF ON US GOING 74 MPH ON I-95. WE ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY A SEMI. WE DROVE 65 THE REST OF THE WAY HOME AND IT WAS ONE OF THE SCARIEST MOMENTS OF MY LIFE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY READ THE CODE AND CLEARED THE CODE LIKE THEY DID PREVIOUSLY WHEN IT WOULD DO A HARD DOWNSHIFT WITH A LOVELY CLUNK WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THIS FIXED THE ISSUE UNTIL WE WERE COMING BACK FROM A FOUR HOUR TRIP AND THE LURCHING FORWARD WHEN GOING UP AN INCLINE STARTED AGAIN. IT CUT OFF, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED LIT, AS WELL AS THE PARK ASSIST. LIKE BEFORE WE COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL SENSOR AND SHELLED OUT $750 TO GET IT FIXED. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS SUV AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE HAPPEN TO ANY OF THE 20 CARS WE HAVE PREVIOUSLY OWNED. MOST OF THE TIMES IT STALLS SITTING AT A LIGHT. ONCE IT STALLED GOING 65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND STARTED RIGHT BACK UP BY ITS SELF. THE OTHER DAY IT STALLED AND IT STARTED BACK UP THEN A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD THE INFORMATION CENTER BEEPED AND HAD A WARNING SAYING CHECK GAUGES. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS ON COLD AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE MIDDLE (NORMAL) BECAUSE I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR A LITTLE BIT. I DROVE IT TO WORK AND CALLED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR AFTER WORK THAT DAY. AT THE END OF THE DAY WHEN I STARTED IT UP TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE WARNING "CHECK GAUGES" WAS GONE. I TOLD THE SERVICE REP AT THE DEALERSHIP WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND THAT ITS BEEN STALLING OUT. THEY CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I DRIVE THE CAR EVERYDAY AND THERE IS SOME VERY WRONG WITH THE CAR. MY VEHICLE HAS THE SAME ISSUES AS THE PREVIOUS RECALL FOR THE 2007 4.7 V8 ENGINES, YET CHRYSLER IGNORES THE COMMUNITY OF JEEP COMMANDER OWNERS WITH THE 3.6 V6 ENGINE THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS ALSO A TSB (18-004-09 REV. A) THAT DESCRIBES THE CLUNKING AND HESITATION YOU FEEL WHEN TRYING TO GET UP TO SPEED. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING A CUSTOMER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR. WAS DRIVING TO WORK GOING ABOUT 60 MPH AND MOTOR JUST SHUTS OFF. HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE KEY AND TRIED TO RESTART ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND AFTER FIVE WEEKS OF RESEARCH, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE OR DIAGNOSE THE MALFUNCTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

IT HAS STALLED ON ME TWICE NOW. THE FIRST TIME ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH WITH MY 3 KIDS AND PREGNANT WIFE IN THE CAR CAUSING ALL POWER FUNCTIONS TO BE LOST AND WE ALMOST GOT RAN OVER BY A TRANSFER TRUCK TRYING TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I HAD IT LOOK AT AND THE THROTTLE BODY AND INTAKE CLEANED OF CARBON DEPOSITED AND NOW TODAY JUNE 12TH 2012 IT STALLED AGAIN GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE HEADING TO MY WORK.
