dashboard had check engine light on. transaxle indicator light turned on when i was driving about 65 mph on the freeway and slowed down and wouldn’t accelerate. The large commercial truck behind me was unable to stop on time that it almost hit us behind. There was a construction on my right lane and cars on my left lane. it took me some seconds to reach the end of construction site in my right lane. A second or two more not changing lane to my right side would have hit me and my children. All the truck driver was able to do was pressed on the horn to make me aware that he is too close behind me. Changed of speed in a freeway that fast could have killed me and my kids. i have not been able to drive in the Freeway with this car and even if i get it fixed, I still won’t feel safe to drive it. The car runs fine when the transaxle light doesn’t come on. certain movement, light turns on and off.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON PAID $800 DOLLARS TO RESOLVE ISSUES, I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. A FEW SENSORS(OIL, HEATING ETC) WERE REPLACED, O2 SENSORS WERE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD BE THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER SYSTEM. THIS IS CREATING A VERY SERIOUS HEADACHE PROBLEM. I TRIED WITH NUMEROUS CAR REPAIR SHOPS AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. THEY CHECK THE CODES AND THEIR RESPONSE IS "IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS WHATS WRONG WITH IT, BUT THERE IS NO WARRANTY, THAT WE CAN RESOLVE THE ISSUES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TECHNICIAN WAS DIAGNOSING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS KEPT FROM AUGUST 29, 2017 TO NOVEMBER 4, 2017. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED IN APRIL 2016. IN JUNE 2016, MY HEADLIGHT STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY. IT WOULD TURN ON AND OFF ON IT'S OWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. AFTER ABOUT 6 WEEKS OF THE CAR BEING IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP, DUE TO THE LIGHT WORKING ON IT'S OWN AND THEM NOT HAVING THE SAME EXPERIENCE I WAS HAVING, THEY FINALLY SEE WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE TIPM FAILED, AND REPLACED IT. FEB 2017, MY WIPERS BEGAN TURNING ON AND OFF ON THEIR OWN, OR JUST NOT WORKING AT ALL. THEY WOULD GO ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING, NOT SHUT OFF WHEN THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF, AND AT TIMES THE SWITCH WOULD NOT EVEN TURN THEM ON WHEN I NEEDED THEM. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, AND THEY HAVE AGAIN DETERMINED THAT THE TIPM, WHICH IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD, HAS AGAIN FAILED. THEY HAVE NOT DETERMINED WHAT IS CAUSING THE CONSISTENT FAILURE OF THE TIPM, AND HAVE HAD IT FOR A WEEK NOW.

IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LAMP FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM FOR THE HEAD LAMPS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT BALL JOINTS AND STRUTS WERE CORRODED AND ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WHY THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE STRUTS AND BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL ODOR EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL CAP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED AND A TUNE UP WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HESITATED TO SHIFT GEARS AND WAS JERKING AS IF IT WAS GOING TO STALL. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED ON 6/30/13. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OXYGEN SENSORS AND THE O2 HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER ON 1/14/16 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,483.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR BODY DAMAGES. IN ADDITION, WHILE APPROACHING A STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MOVE FORWARD, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. MY VEHICLE STARTED LOSING POWER INTERMITTENTLY. IT WOULD REMAIN RUNNING, BUT WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WOULD FLASH. AT FIRST, THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, SOLVED BY PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING IT. EVENTUALLY, THIS BECAME AN EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE, UNTIL EVENTUALLY, THE CAR WOULD NOT EVEN START DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOTICED SEVERAL RECALLS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR MY YEAR AND MAKE AND MODEL, BUT THE DATABASE STATES THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES IN FAST-MOVING TRAFFIC ON NARROW SHOULDERS.

I WAS DRIVING INTO THE PARKING LOT AT WALMART AND THE CAR ACTUALLY TURNED ITSELF OFF. I COASTED INTO THE PARKING SPOT AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. I TURNED THE IGNITION AGAIN AND THE CAR TURNED ON AND THEN TURNED BACK OFF. I CALL AAA AND THEY TOWED THE CAR TO NTB. THEY HOOKED THE CAR UP AND STATED THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. THEY STARTED THE CAR AND IT STARTED FINE. AFTER I LEFT, I GOT MAYBE 3 MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. I CALLED NTB AND THEY WERE ICE ENOUGH TO COME TO WHERE I WAS. THEY WERE ABLE TO START THE CAR; HOWEVER, AS SOON AS HE BACKED UP TO TURN AROUND THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. HE TOLD ME TO LEAVE THE CAR, BUT IT'S HARD TO DO THAT WHEN THEY THEMSELVES DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG AND HAVE NO CLUE AS TO THE COST. WE SAT FOR 10 MINUTES AND THE CAR STARTED WITH NO PROBLEM. I DROVE HOME WITH NO MORE INCIDENTS. FOR THE NEXT 4 DAYS NOTHING HAPPENED. ON THE 5TH DAY, IN TRAFFIC ON 459N WHICH IS HEAVY AND CRAZY, THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING THE CAR BEHIND ME, WHO WAS TOO CLOSE ANYWAY, TO HIT ME. I PULLED OVER AND HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME WHERE IT'S SITTING NOW. I HAVE GONE OUT TO CRANK IT AND IT TURNS OVER, BUT I'M NOT DRIVING IT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP, THEY INVESTIGATED THE CAUSE OF THE ALARM, AND DISCOVERED THAT THE CODE HAD TO DO WITH THE EVAPORATOR SYSTEM, OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, WHICH I THINK MONITORS RETURN VAPORS AND HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH EMISSION CONTROLS. THEY DISCOVERED, AFTER TRACING THE CAUSE OF THE AIR LEAKAGE, THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE, WHICH IS PLASTIC, WAS BURNT AND DISTENDED DUE TO AN OVERHEATING FUEL PUMP. THIS APPARATUS IS AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AND CAN BE ACCESSED THROUGH A "TRAP DOOR" BENEATH THE SECOND SEATS. VAPOR WAS BEING EMITTED AT THAT POINT. THERE WAS NEVER ANY WARNING OR SOUNDS TO INDICATE THE FUEL PUMP WAS OVERHEATING. THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL MODULE ARE BEING REPLACED AND THE TECHNICIANS THINK THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY I WAS LUCKY THAT NO VAPORS IGNITED BECAUSE THE GAS TANK PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BLOWN UP. ON NOV. 21 I TOOK MY JEEP COMPASS TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGH THE PEDAL WAS ALL THE WAY DOWN. THE CAR WAS JERKING AND ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS PRETTY MUCH GOING CRAZY. I WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC THAT THE DID ON THE PCM SHOWED THAT THERE WERE COMPUTER ERRORS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY HAD TO RESET THE CODES AND CLEAR ALL OF THE ERRORS AND THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED. ON 12/11 THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ADVISED THEM THAT THE SAME ISSUED OCCURRED AGAIN. WHEN I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP THEY STATE THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THAT THEY HAD SPOKEN TO CHRYSLER AND THAT CHRYSLER STATED THAT THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL THE PROBLEMS GET WORST AT WHICH POINT THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEM AND FIND THE SOLUTION. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE BASICALLY THEY WANT ME AND MY FAMILY TO DRIVE AROUND IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AND WAIT TIL THE PROBLEMS GETS WORST AND RISK OUR LIVES. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND BECOME ERRATIC. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY MANY LIVES WOULD BE AT RISK. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT IS GOING ON IN MY CAR. AS OF RIGHT NOW THERE HAS BEEN NO SOLUTION TO FIX MY VEHICLE. *TR

CAR ENGINE STALLING AND IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCELERATE, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR A TUNE UP 11//09. DEALER CHANGED COUPLE OF PLUGS BUT NOTHING ELSE WAS NEEDED. 1/10 CAR TOWED TO DEALER. DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE ACTING UP, ENGINE STARTED STALLING AND COULDN'T ACCELERATE, CAR SIMPLY DIED IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. DEALER SAID IT WAS A BAD COIL. ASKED ME IF I HAD WASHED ENGINE, ANSWER WAS NO. DEALER REPLACED COIL AND STATED PROBLEM WAS FIXED. CAR STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING ON 1-16 (GA), CAR WOULD STALL, COULDN'T ACCELERATE, EVEN THOUGH PEDAL WAS TO THE CAR FLOOR. EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD ACTED UP, (ONE OF MY TIRES HAD 10 AIR PRESSURE, PULLED OVER AND TIRE HAD 35 AIR PRESSURE). SAME ISSUES THAN BEFORE, I THOUGHT CAR WOULD DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF HWY(7/11/10). TOOK TO DEALER 7/14/2010 AND CONTACTED CHRYSLER (WAS ASSIGNED A CASE). DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE ME $75 TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS, REFUSED TO PAY, SAME ISSUE AS BEFORE. DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTICS FREE OF CHARGE, HOWEVER CHRYSLER STATES THERE IS NO ASSURANCE PROBLEM WILL BE COVERED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, MY CAR COULD DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF HWY WITH MY TWO KIDS INSIDE ,CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I PAID FOR THE TUNE UP, CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY FIRST TIME BUT NOTHING WAS SAID OR FIXED THEN. PROBLEM PERSISTS AND NOW CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND I NEED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS? DEALER FAILED TO FIND PROBLEM TWICE BEFORE. CHRYSLER AND DEALER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR PUTTING MY LIFE AND MY KIDS LIFE IN DANGER. ALSO HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR NOT REPAIRING AN ISSUE THAT IS VERY COMMON AMONG THESE CARS OF THE SAME YEAR. RECALL WAS ISSUED ON SPEED PEDAL, BUT MINE NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER. I FEEL VERY UNSECURE WHILE DRIVING CAR. CHRYSLER STATES DEALER AND COMPANY ARE ACTING IN GOOD WILL BY RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS FOR FREE. THEY ARE MANUFACTURER OF CAR, WHICH HAS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOUR TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE FAILURE BEGAN EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ENGINE RPM'S INCREASED TO 6,000 AND THEN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. SHE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO THE REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT AND TWO MECHANICS TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE INCREASED TO 6,000 RPM'S AGAIN. THE MECHANICS DOWNLOADED AND REBOOTED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE FAILURE HAS RECURRED ONE WEEK AGO. SHE CALLED DAIMLER CHRYSLER AND THEY INFORMED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE CONTACT IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, THEREFORE IT WAS TOWED AND CURRENTLY REMAINS AT THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 10,300.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TO ZERO. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OVER 30 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 5,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,300.
