The 2014 Jeep Compass was in a parking lot and the driver side head restraint opened up as though there was an accident, but there was no accident and no warning system, message, or other symptoms. There is broken plastic inside the headrest, so it cannot be reassembled. It is a safety issue because the part cannot be put into the original configuration that was intended by Jeep, so the current safety of my neck while in this car is unknown. Police and insurance were not involved because there was no accident. Dealer claims that (a) Jeep will not pay for a replacement despite the existence of multiple TSB's, and (b) there is a federal law preventing replacement parts from being manufactured on hand, so they must be ordered for every occurrence of a complaint, meaning I have been waiting for months to get this replaced - while in an uncertain state of safety. I am concerned that I will approach a statute of limitations on my complaint and not be able to get it fixed at all.
The Electronic Throttle Control light(steady) and the Electronic Stability Control Activation/Malfunction Indicator Lights came on. There are times the engine light comes on. The vehicle would not accelerate, jerking kind of movement, going 20 miles.
When driving, multiple times, the car has randomly lost all power leaving me unable to accelerate even use the horn or hazard lights to let other drivers know. Sometimes it restarts after putting it into park, removing the key, and then restarting it, but now it does not restart even after long periods of waiting. Sometimes it has also done this while driving but turned itself back on before the vehicle comes to a complete stop.
While driving on the freeway the AHR headrest deployed causing my head to be pushed forward. There was not an accident and the road was smooth. There was no reason for the headrest to deploy.
driving vehicle and a torrential down pour of water came out of the front interior light which is located at the windshield . The water fell onto the entire entire of the car onto me driving and almost caused an accident as I was shocked and surprised. I have a sunroof in this vehicle and in researching it find that prior lawsuits have been filed and won. Jeep is aware of this and does not inform the buyers instead ignores it. I researched and saw that the drainage tubes were too small and tend to clog up and Jeep does not inform the customer of this. When researching further this has happened over and over and no recall has ever been started. I could have died or severely injured other, Brought it to Jeeps attention and they stated we do not start recall that is up to the US government(arrogance of a supervisor) They refused to tell me who to report this to and told me to do the research myself If line is recorded it occurred11/03/2021 at app 3:10 . I paid. approximately 920.00 for the repairs where the Jeep shop left 7 inches of water on my carpeting and drivers seat. Corporate stated my problem and to deal with Jeep repair shop If prior lawsuits were won on this every one is aware of this why is a recall not done to help the consumer and Jeep made to notify their customers to have maintenance done on drain tubes. The activated headrest on the passenger side popped out randomly. The headrest is supposed to come out during a collision only. Researching this issue I have found that this is a common problem. This is obviously a safety problem as the spontaneous release could cause neck injuries, or in the case of an accident it may not work as intended. There was no warning of this in advance. The car is available for inspection, but I am now concerned for anyone riding in the passenger seat. I believe the same mechanism is on the drivers side also, so this may be an issue for that side also.
My car has a recall. I take my car to the dealership to fix the problem. But still the same problem from the same recall 2 or 3 times already. My car has been taking care in the dealership with not cost . But my big concern is why the same problem for the recall is coming back over and over. I also lost time when I take my car to the dealership even a full week. With no transportation and also always worry to go back again with the same issue . Is anyone can help me with this problem. I was driving at a normal speed and out of no where my head rest popped out so hard. It hit the back of my head and I almost got into an accident. It scared the living daylight out of me. I thought someone hit me from behind or that I got into an accident. There was no warning for this at all. I am very scared to drive my vehicle now. My neck does hurt at the moment, but no serious injury.
MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FAULT INDICATOR, STABILITY CONTROL INDICATOR AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE (WITH EXCLAMATION POINT) INDICATOR ARE ON WHEN ENGINE STARTS. WITHIN 15 SECONDS OF ME DRIVING, ALL INDICATOR LIGHTS BRIEFLY TURN OFF. THAT IS FOLLOWED BY A ~5 SECONDS OF MY CAR STALLING WITH THE STABILITY CONTROL INDICATOR BLINKING. SHORTLY AFTER, ALL LIGHTS TURN BACK ON. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE THAT I HAVE TESTED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A WEEK. I TRIED GOING AGAIN BUT WITHIN 500 FT AND THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. FRANTIC I PULLED INTO A SHOPPING MALL AND PULLED OUT THE CAR'S MANUAL. I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY LIGHT. I MADE THE TRIP HOME AND THE NEXT DAY TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC SCANNED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND REPLACED THE FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. MY CAR IS A 2014 JEEP COMPASS LATITUDE WITH 52,363 MILES. I WAS CHARGED $556.54 TO FIX MY NOT YET 5 YEAR OLD CAR!

THE HEAT SHIELD THAT PROTECTS AND SEPARATES THE GAS TANK FROM MUFFLER PREVENTING THE HEAT FROM THE MUFFLER TO OVERHEAT THE GAS TANK HAS FALLEN FROM THE BRACKETS THAT HOLDS THIS SAFETY / HEAT SHIELD IN PLACE. THIS HEAT SHIELD IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PREVENTING ANY HEAT TO DAMAGE THE GAS TANK DIRECTLY ABOVE. THE BRACKETS THAT HELD UP THE HEAT SHIELD APPEARED TO BE OF VERY POOR QUALITY AND WOULD TEND TO FAIL FROM MY OBSERVATION. WITHOUT THIS HEAT SHIELD IT APPEARS A GAS TANK FIRE COULD OCCUR IN HOT ENVIRONMENTS OR POSSIBLY AT IDLE WITHOUT ANY AIR MOVEMENT TO COOL THE SPACE BETWEEN THE GAS TANK AND MUFFLER.

MY OIL PRESSURE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT TURNING OFF AND ON. I CONTACTED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN REGARDS TO THE ISSUE, AND THEY ADVISED ME IT WAS NOT DANGEROUS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED SO I ATTEMPTED TO TRANSPORT MY VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC, AND AS I WAS TRANSPORTING THE VEHICLE I HEARD A LOUD "POP!" FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO PULL SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FROM THREE LANES OVER. THE DASH BOARD PROCEEDED TO LIGHT UP AND A STRANGE SMELL BEGAN TO COME THROUGH THE VEHICLE. MY ASSOCIATE AND I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO CHECK UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. WE QUICKLY GRABBED OUR BELONGS AND MOVED A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES WITHIN 15 MINUTES AND REMAINED ON FIRE UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO EXTINGUISH IT. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS AND JEEP HAS DENIED ASSOCIATION WITH THE INCIDENT.

POWER REAR WINDOW INTERMITTENTLY WOULD NOT RAISE AFTER BEING LOWERED. FOLLOWING A TRIP TO MY SON'T VIOLIN PRACTICE. AFTER RAISING USING THE REAR WINDOW POWER UP, IT RAISED AND THEN WORKED FINE. A FEW MONTHS LATER, OUT OF THE BLUE ONE MORNING THE JEEP WOULD NOT START. IT WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT IN OUR DRIVEWAY. CALLED ROADSIDE SERVICE AND THEY ATTEMPTED TO JUMP IT OFF WITH A JUMP BOX AND IT WOULD STILL NOT START. HAD A FRIEND STOP BY AND ASSIST WITH JUMPER CABLES AND AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS IT STARTED. ADVANCE AUTO CHECKED THE BATTERY/STARTER/ALTERNATOR AND ALL TESTED FINE. TAKEN TO DEALER AND TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODEULE REQUIRED CHANGING AND WAS NOT COVERED BY EITHER WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED WHEN ORIGIONALLY BOUGHT. THAT WAS TWO WEEKS AGO. TWO DAYS AGO, OUT OF THE BLUE THE HORN HONKED. THEN TONIGHT, AFTER BEING PARKED AGAIN OVERNIGHT, I ATTEMPTED TO START MY JEEP AND UPON TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION ONLY THE DASH LIGHTS AND RADIO CAME ON X2. ON THE THIRD ATTEMPT THE VEHICLE STARTED. FIRST OCCURANCE WAS 7/26/2017 SECOND 8/8/2017 FOLLOWING TWO DAYS IN THE SHOP AND A CHANGED TIPM.

I HAVE OWNED THIS JEEP COMPASS SINCE JULY 2014 IN THE TIME I HAVE OWNED IT , IT HAS LOST POWER AND STOPPED FUNCTIONING AS I WAS DRIVING BETWEEEN 55 AND 65 MILES/ HOUR 4 TIMES ON A VERY BUSY 5 LANE HIGHWAY. 1 OF THOSE TIMES I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED . THE OTHER TIMES AFTER LEAVING IT SIT FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES, IT WOULD RESTART.THE TIME IT WAS TOWED, THE ONLY THING THEY COULD FIND IS THE BATTERY WAS LOW SO THEY REPLACED IT. ANOTHER TIME AT 33,000 MILES, THEY FOUND THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING SO THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. LAST MONTH , IT DIED AGAIN IN THE SAME BUSY HIGHWAY AND WE WERE ALMOST HIT BY AN 18 WHEEL TRUCK WHILE TRYING TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD. I LET IT SIT FOR 30 MINUTES AND IT STARTED AGAIN JUST LIKE THE OTHER TIMES. I TOOK IT TO WALLACE JEEP IN STUART FLORIDA WHERE THE SERVICE MANAGER DID A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AND SAID HE COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT ON THE HIGHWAY NOW FOR WEEKS BECAUSE I FEAR THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT AGAIN AND AM AFRAID OF BEING HIT IN TRAFFIC. IT NOW HAS 66000 MILES ON IT SO THIS TRANSMISSION HAS ABOUT THE SAME MILEAGE ON IT AS THE ORIGINAL DID. I A OPENED A CASE WITH JEEP AND CAN NEVER GET THEM TO CALL ME BACK I AM THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED WITH THIS VEHICLE AND WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER JEEP AS LONG AS I LIVE. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT! THE DRIVER SIDE HEADREST WAS IN THE RAISED POSITION WHILE I WAS IN TRANSIT. I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND REACHED UP TO PUSH THE HEADREST DOWN TO THE LOWER POSITION. I PRESSED THE SLIDE BUTTON ON THE BASE OF THE HEADREST WITH ONE HAND AND PUSHED DOWN ON THE HEADREST WITH THE OTHER HAND. THE HEADREST BLEW APART HITTING ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WHEN IT DID SO. THERE WAS NO IMPACT TO MY VEHICLE THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE HEADREST TO POP IN THAT MANNER. I DID NOT HIT THE HEADREST BUT PUSHED FIRMLY TO TRY AND LOWER IT TO A MORE COMFORTABLE POSITION. I TRIED TO HAVE THE HEADREST RESET AND CLOSED BUT WAS TOLD BY A SERVICE TECHNICIAN THAT THE HEAD]REST WAS IN FACT BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.

ABLE TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION WHILE JEEP IS IN GEAR, CAR ROLLED AT LEAST A FOOT ON FLAT GROUND. TWICE IN PARKING LOT, ONCE IN GARAGE -CLEAR DANGER TO THOSE BEHIND AND ALONG SIDE OF VEHICLE. HAPPENED THREE TIMES, NOW USE HANDBRAKE TO INSURE NO ACCIDENT.

BROUGHT 2014 JEEP COMPASS IN FOR A SAFETY AND EMISSION INSPECTION. 2014 JEEP COMPASS FAILED EMISSIONS TEST. 21000 MILES. NEW YORK STATE. JEEP CHRYSLER HAS BEEN UNWILLINGLY TO PROVIDE LOANER VEHICLE AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM IN A TIMELY MANNER. MY INSPECTION IS ONLY GOOD UNTIL THE END OF FEBRUARY AND THIS MANNER NEEDS TO BE URGENTLY RESOLVED.
I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES AN HOUR IN A PARKING LOT AND MY ENGINE STALLED AND BEGAN TO SMOKE. I REACHED OUT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE FIRST AND NO ONE WOULD RETURN MY CAR. THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL RECALL THAT IMPACTS MY VEHICLE WHICH HAS TO DO WITH THE HIJACKING OF THE VEHICLE NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM/BLUE TOOTH. I CANNOT GET RESOLUTION FROM THE DEALERSHIP.
