My lights keep blinking on dashboard saying 4 wheeldrive isn't available and my vehicle keeps shutting off in the middle of me driving it,this is very dangerous,I took it to Carlock Dodge Jeep and for recall on vehicle that they say was causing the problem they fixed the recall but vehicle still doing the same thing
While attempting to do a U-turn on two different occiasions once the U-turn has been completed the car would stop and turn off. There was not power. Would attempt to restart the car and it would not. Needed to get a jump-start for the car to start. One other time when attempting to do a U-turn the car would act as if would stop, in this case did not but took about 2 miles before it would accelerate properly
When driving the vehicle it has shut off the engine and stalled, it also shut off and a few milliseconds later restarted on the highway has done the multiple time
Wiring compartment under the front wheel well is completely eroded away which caused my vehicle to completely stop driving and turning on. When looking at the whole wiring harness under the wheel well, wires were completely falling out of where they connect to the fuses because of how bad the erosion is. I was driving my car with my 4 year old child in it on the highway and it started to jerk, lights started flashing on the dash, including the airbag light, and then all at once shut completely off, lights went out, would not start back up at all. I had it towed back to my house and now it will not start up at all. I replaced a bunch of parts to it and then that is when I discovered that it was the whole wiring box under the wheel well that had corrode a bunch of wires. When hooking up the battery to try and jump it to. see if it would start, the wires that were loose started sparking and almost caught fire.

The contact stated that several warning lights were illuminated after restarting the vehicle. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,955.

While driving Jeep losses power and stops. At garage now and they can’t find reasonable explanation. Has less than 50k miles. Danger while driving since it just shuts off while no lights come on to indicate problems
Let me start by saying I am an electrician. I have had several electrical problems with this car, most recently my Headlights come on intermittently. I start my car and turn the headlight switch on, sometimes it takes up to 20 minutes for them to kick on. I have checked the batteries, the Fuses, the grounding connections, and the switch. This is very dangerous, and I have already spent money trying to fix the problem to no avail. I travel a lot and It's frightening when it gets dark and I have to switch the headlights on while driving. I have no way of knowing if they are working while I'm on the road. I see several other people complaing of the same exact problem, why hasn't a recall been issued?
The defrost system built into the front windsheild shorted out. This issue resulted in sparking and smoking inside of the car while the front electrical defrost was turned on. This issue could have easily resulted in catastrophic events had we not realized exactly what was happening. There were no warnings of the sytem being in failure. The issue is also apparently not covered under the vehicle warranty and now will cost out of pocket to replace something that I had no control over. The dealership was able to confirm the issue.
Two times while driving the car shuts completely down, No acceleration, no warning lights, hard to steer. Both times luckily I was on a low traffic road. After it completely stopped and I tried to restart the car it would sound like it wanted to turn over but never did. It sounded like when someone floods a car. Another time it was -20 outside and I was starting it from my key starter ( I don't have one of the newer key fobs)...mine has a normal key with an electric lock and auto start buttons. Anyway I pushed the starter button and it acted like normal with the headlights blinked twice and normally it starts in about 3 seconds. When I went to get in my car it was off and stone cold. I went to start it and acted like I previously stated. The master mechanics can't find anything wrong with it both times I've had my car towed to the repair shop. They replaced the sparkplugs and battery and it happened again after it was "fixed" .
Auto stop/start will malfunction and show a message saying to cut the car off and start it again. This poses a huge safety issue as it can cause an accident from not starting up and shutting off when it stops. Car also says “please park safely car will shut off soon”. My alternator has been checked and the aux battery and regular battery have been replaced as well so they are unable to figure out why I’m getting this message.
UNKNOWN the screen on my JEEP COMPASS has gone dark i can't see anything to let me know what functions are happening I have spoken to Jeep and they said i have to replace the unit at over $2000.i believe its a dangerous situation. Can someone please help me
I was traveling northbound on ih35 near exit 329 outside of Waco, Tx travel to Dallas Tx I was in the middle of the highway during rainfall when my jeep completely shut down on me without warning all lights came on radio went black, brake was stiff, steering wheel locked. I had to have my jeep towed $300 later. My vehicle was in park and the vehicle said not in park. Vehicle wouldn’t start up. I was in the 3rd lane of a 4 lane highway when the vehicle stalled and shut off easily could have gotten hit from oncoming traffic. I was on the side of the road for 5 hours not knowing what was wrong with my vehicle. I had a full tank of gas and fluids were A1. I looked up my vin with no recalls being shown. Googled the issue and nothing has been done for anyone that has experienced this scary situation.
2017 Jeep Compass has been having an issue with either the start-stop mechanism or the brakes. I was at a single lane red light. The engine went through the start-stop sequence, but when the light turned green and I released the brake, the car struggled to come to life at all and began to stall out. I had to wiggle the steering wheel and shift the gears to multiple places before returning it to drive and thankfully being able to keep moving. I turned the feature off in my car to prevent it from having any further issues while I just made it to work and back home. When I got to the next light and stepped on the brake, I heard a sound and when I looked down and noticed that the parking brake had engaged on its own. Fortunately I was near the dealership, but I was terrified that I was not going to make it there even. After keeping it over night and test driving it, they found nothing wrong with the vehicle at all. This is not the first time this has happened and we took the Jeep to the dealership only to be told that there was nothing they could find wrong with it. I have found several other complaints by other people saying the same exact thing. They are having this issue and when they take it to their service center, they are being told it is fine. This is not fine, and the fact that there has been absolutely nothing done about this simply because there hasn't been any evidence is ridiculous. This is truly unacceptable and I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Period. There is something seriously wrong with it that no mechanics seem to be able to pinpoint whatever the issue is.
This car is having tons of electrical issues. From wire malfunctions in the radio to the ORC module failing. All lights for air bags, abs breaks, check engine, and everything electrical are beeping and flashing. The air bags will not work if I get in an accident and I've read they can deploy at any time while I am driving! If you look online, Chrysler/Jeep has LOTS of ORC failure issues and have even recalled for this for it before. This issue should be covered for until at least 100k miles. Some people have had this ORC module fail at as little as 18k miles. I still have 2 warranties on this car and not one covers it. Chrysler/Jeep should be responsible for fixing this. It is a risk to to peoples lives. I'm not understanding why this is still an issue in 2023 with no penalties to Chrysler/Jeep when it's been happening for over 10 years!? I'm hoping writing this will add one more person to the lost of issues Jeep has so something can be done about it.
While driving down the road, all doors closed, and with the lift gate closed the Jeep Compass' Emergency Parking Break is engaging at random. Shortly before it does this the vehicle loses ability to accelerate. A quick google search has yielded many hits on many Jeep Compass and Jeep Cherokee owners from years ranging from 2014 to 2020 having the same problem and Jeep refusing to acknowledge or fix the issue. This is a serious safety concern that is going to get people killed.
the auto start/stop function shuts vehicle off and unable to start gain my safety and of others was high as it happens on multiple lane highways unable to reproduce as it can happen randomly, there were no warning lights or any other sign of future stalling or complete shut down when stopping.
My Jeep was manufactured August 2016 directly after a recall for camshaft position sensory and crankshaft position sensor. For the past 3 years I have gotten a periodical check engine light for the camshaft position sensor in bank 1. Two weeks ago the engine began to stall at random times and the camshaft position sensor light came back on. I replaced it this weekend and the issue is persisting. I've checked everything else and there are no other codes that are pulling. I have had it inspected at my employment since I work for a dealership. The engine stalling on the highway is putting me and other drivers at a huge safety risk. I have almost been hit three times when it has stalled and there is nothing I can do in the middle of the road.
Delamination of touch screen to radio/electronic control panel. This causes the system to touch random portions of the screen, deeming it uncontrollable. The system will also make phone calls I’m not trying to make. More importantly, when I try to make phone calls, it will immediately disconnect the call. I had an emergency on the road recently and needed to make and receive calls but was unable to! In addition, I was driving and trying to figure out how to get my phone to work, which was a huge danger to me and others. This is stock equipment manufactured by LG. The first sign of this issue was the screen changing randomly, plus there is visible signs of delamination, which at first i believed to be water damage. No one has raised this issue after inspection, but after doing a quick search, I see that it is a widespread problem among Jeep vehicles.
While driving at highway speeds, the engine shut off and power steering is disabled. The dashboard says that the car is still on and will not restart the car. This is an EXTREEMLY dangerous situation, and my family is lucky to be alive. The problem had been reproduced by Christian Brother Automotive. They have replaced the camshaft sensor as well as the batteries and updated the firmware of the car. The issue continues to persist, and Christian Brothers will not release the car to me. No the Vehicle has not bee inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representative. No Warning lamps, messages or other symptoms presented themself prior to the problem. After about 20 minutes the car is can be restarted and will operate as normal until it automagically cuts out the next time.
Uconnect touch screen delaminating on my 2017 Jeep Compass Limited 4X4. Started right after my car was just out of warranty, so when I called no one would help me or fix the issue. This was about 2 years ago, I have been dealing with this issue since 2020, it is now 2023.. Since then the screen has gotten WAY worse, delaminating half the screen. It is very distracting while driving and a safety hazard as it will randomly change settings, change which screen I'm on (if on audio, it will change to climate control etc.), sometimes does not work while I am touching the screen, like if I am trying change my climate control settings. If I am driving and need to change my AC up or heat down and its not working, I am having to take my eyes off the road longer to try and get the screen to work, which is a huge safety hazard. Also, probably not be related to the delamination, but my phone will not connect through USB to my Jeep, therefore I cannot use Android Auto. This is also a safety concern as I have to hold my phone or set it down on my lap and look down constantly to use GPS. I live in NJ and GPS is a MUST when driving anywhere. I have tried many different phones, different cables, and resetting my system, with no luck. With so many things wrong with the Jeeps screens especially 2017 and 2018 models you would think they would put out a recall, specifically for the delamination! This is happening to SO many people with various Jeep models. I have been on the phone with Jeep multiple times, many times with representatives who are short with me, and do not care about the issue. It seems as if they get so many calls about the same issue, that once they hear that you are having problems with your screen delaminating they just dismiss you and want to get you off the phone. The issues I am dealing with, along with so many others is very distracting and a major safety concern when the screen is not working property while driving.
Question 1: The Auto stop start system went out last October or November and I couldn't get it into the shop with in the warranty because they wouldn't schedule it. After that in February my battery started dying and I had to replace my battery 5 times now. That's when starting in August all of my instrument cluster/panel would light up and it would start my lights on the inside of the car to flash, radio to start cracking and the doors locks switching back and forth. It then will start flashing the ABS warning. The ABS warning wont stay on but it will ding and flash about every 2-5 minutes. Then it will show the pull over safely vehicle ill shut off soon and begin locking up my front driver side tire and rip you into on coming traffic. Then it will start going into limp mode and then revving up on its own. Question 2: The tire being squeezed by the brake will rip you around and start turning the whole car into the other lane/ oncoming traffic. It will also start shutting down. Question 3: A mechanic at O'Reilly's ran system diagnostic and then looked it up and saw that Campaign NO: 17V740000 and Campaign NO: 17V301000. Question 4: No. Question 5: The only issue started in October/ November of 2021 and that was the start stop system went out and the dealership wouldn't see me and told us not to worry because it wasn't important. Then the battery dying every couple of weeks and constantly needing jumped or replaced. Then came the the ABS warning and then the whole car shutting down and locking the drivers wheel up in August.
Issues staring the car, dealership makes me buy a new battery and that’s not the problem. Still after spending money on a new battery, it’s a problem. 13.4 v and it still has issues starting. Sometimes it starts and will NOT let me leave park. I am exhausted of these issues and constantly missing work because of this car the whole point in buying a 2017 car was for it to be reliable, and instead I’m having a problem even starting it!!!!
Uconnect infotainment system random changing climate settings, radio stations, not working at all, incorrect navigation. Digitizer has de-laminated causing random actions. Very bad safety hazard, besides being distracting while driving.
Delamination of Uconnect radio causing multiple electronic malfunctions on vehicle, causing a safety issue. Problem has been reproduced and was confirmed by dealership on November 5th 2021. Issue first started in February of 2020.

The contact also stated that the vehicle failed to start-up after multiple attempts. The vehicle had to be jump started. The vehicle was taken to Classic Honda of Midland (3705 W Wall St, Midland, TX 79703) and they offered no assistance. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they discovered that the battery was defective; however, after multiple replacements, the failure continued. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

MY JEEP COMPASS IS HAVING ISSUES STARTING. I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC TWICE IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS BECAUSE IT KEEPS NOT STARTING! I'VE TRIED JUMPING THE BATTERY AND NOTHING. YES, MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKES, TANK HAS GAS, DOOR WAS CLOSED. AFTER 3 FAILED ATTEMPTS I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND TRIED STARTING JEEP WITH MY KEY FOB, NO LUCK. LOOKED INSIDE DASH AND IT READ AUTO START DISABLED. I TRIED TURNING OFF JEEP SINCE THE DASHBOARD AND LIGHTS WERE STILL ON AND NO LUCK, THEY STAYED ON. MY NEIGHBOR DROVE ME TO MY ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON APPT. WHEN WE RETURNED, THE JEEP WAS STILL ON AND MY FAMILY SHOWED UP TRYING THE FOLLOWING: CHANGE BATTERIES TO KEY FOB. CHECKED CABLES AND CAR BATTERY. AFTER THOSE THINGS THE DASHBOARD READ "PUT CAR IN PARK" MY CAR OF COURSE WAS IN PARK. I COULDN'T GET IT OUT OF PARK SINCE IT NEVER STARTED!!! MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS. MOST NOTABLY IS WHEN I START THE CAR THE TEMPERATURE RESETS ITSELF TO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IT WAS. I.E. TURNED CAR OFF WITH TEMP LO AND RESET ITSELF TO HI. TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATES THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THIS AT ALL. THIS STILL HAPPENS WITH NO RESOLVE. NOW I RECEIVE DASH MESSAGES STATING MULTIPLE LIGHTS DON'T WORK SUCH AS THE BRAKE LIGHTS HOWEVER THEY ARE PERFECTLY FINE. OTHER MESSAGES HAVE FLASHED BUT THEN DISAPPEAR. ALSO ISSUES WITH THE USB AND UCONNECT. USB HAS BEEN REPLACED DUE TO BEING LOOSE BUT NOW AS I DRIVE THE USB CUTS IN AND OUT. ALSO HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THIS ISSUE.MANY OF THESE ISSUES STARTED 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AND STILL PERSIST TO THIS DAY.

EXAMPLE: ENGINE LIGHT, AIR BAG, OIL, WITH EVERY WARNING LIGHT THERE IS. VEHICLE JUST SHUT DOWN ON A BUSY ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS. 15 MIN LATER IT STARTED BACK UP LIKE THERE WASNT A PROBLEM. THERE IS EXCESS OIL USE ALSO. CHANGED OIL, A MONTH LATER, ITS A 1/4 LOW. NO DRIPS EITHER. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD.

THE RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN. FIRST, THE RADIO SCREEN HAS BEEN SLOWLY SEPARATING FROM THE RADIO, WHICH HASN'T AFFECTED THE USE OF THE TOUCH SCREEN USAGE. IT IS ABOUT HALF WAY SEPARATED. ALL OF A SUDDEN WE FIND THE UNIT CHANGING OUR RADIO STATIONS USING OUR PRESETS AND MANUALLY ENTERING IN DIGITS; IT SCROLLS THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONING VENT OPTIONS AND STOPS ON ANY ONE OF THEM RANDOMLY; IT HAS SELECTED THE UCONNECT APP TRYING TO LOAD SOME APPLICATION THAT ISN'T LOADED; IT HAS SELECTED TO TURN ON THE HEATED STEERING WHEEL; IT HAS SELECTED TO TURN ON EITHER SEAT'S HEATER AND THEN OFF AGAIN, THEN BOTH, ETC.; IT HAS SELECTED THE NAVIGATION AND ROUTED TO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND STARTED THE NAVIGATION ALL ON IT'S OWN; ON ONE DRIVE, WHILE IN MOTION, THIS SUMMER WHEN 100 DEG OUTSIDE, IT HAS TURNED THE HEATER ALL THE WAY UP AND THEN LOCKED THE SCREEN SO WE COULDN'T CHANGE IT BACK. ON THIS ONE, IT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT! MY HAS HAD A STROKE BEFORE AND CAN'T TAKE THE HEAT. WHEN IT WOULDN'T LET HER CHANGE IT BACK TO AIR CONDITIONING SHE NEARLY PASSED OUT TRYING TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC AND TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WOULDN'T EVEN LET HER USE THE MANUAL KNOBS TO CONTROL THE AIR CONDITIONING. THEY WERE LOCKED. EVEN WHEN TURNING CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON DIDN'T HELP INITIALLY. IT TOOK 3 TIMES UNTIL IT LET HER ADJUST IT. THESE HAPPENINGS ARE RANDOM; SOME HAPPENING MORE THAN OTHERS AND SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL. IT HAPPENS AT ANY POINT, IN MOTION OR SITTING STILL; CITY, HIGHWAY, TURNING, STRAIGHT; IT DOESN'T MATTER TO IT. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST DAILY AND WILL START AND STOP AT RANDOM TIMES. MOST OF THE TIME IT DOESN'T STOP UNTIL YOU CUT THE CAR OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN SO MANY WAYS. I HAVE VIDEOS THAT SHOWS THIS, BUT CAN'T UPLOAD A VIDEO.
CAR WON'T START CHANGED THE BATTERY WORKED FOR A DAY THEN HAD A CLICKING NOSE LIKE BATTERY WAS DEAD. CHARGED IT CRANKED UP LASTED A DAY STOPPED AGAIN.

THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES. THE VEHICLE IS OFF FOR MAX OF 3 HOUR PERIOD. UPON STARTING VEHICLE TO DRIVE, IT RUNS IDLE AND ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER. THE COMPUTER SYSTEM RUNS THROUGH A NUMBER OF MESSAGES STATING VARIOUS SETTINGS ARE NOT WORKING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. DRIVER'S SIDE CAN'T CONTROL PASSENGER SIDE FUNCTIONS. CLICKING SOUNDS HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH VEHICLE. FOG LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND BLIND SPOT LIGHTS ON SIDE MIRRORS REMAIN ON. VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF.

REMOTE START BEGAN FAILING THEN WOULDN'T EVEN START WITH KEY. HAD TO REPLACE STARTER DUE TO WHERE STARTER IS LOCATED IT GETS SO HOT IT FRIED THE WIRING. MECHANIC STATED DUE TO WHERE THE STARTER IS LOCATED, I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO REPLACE IT EVERY YEAR OR TWO. VERY POOR DESIGN.

WHILE DRIVING I GOT A CODE ON THE CAR DASH THAT READ SOMETHING LIKE 'UNABLE TO DRIVE' THEN AS TURNING THE BEND IN ROAD AT 20/25MPH THE CAR STARTED PULLING TO LEFT STEERING THE WHEEL BECAME TOO HARD AND I HEARD A SNAP NOISE TURNS OUT MY BALL JOINT SNAPPED ON THE JEEP! OVER 5000 IN DAMAGE AND IT WAS NOT DUE TO IMPACT! IT SNAPPED CLEAN OFF THEN ENDED UP CAUSING MY TO SWOP A PARKED CAR. THANKFULLY WASN'T ON HIGHWAY YOUR 2017 COMPASSES HAVE SEVERE ELECTRICAL ISSUES THE CAR DOESN'T GO RIGHT AWAY WHEN SHIFTED TO DESIRED GEAR AND ON TOP OF IT ALL YOUR BALL JOINTS ARE FAULTY! CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY AND RECALL THIS I'VE SEEN A LOT OF OPEN SOURCE REPORTING OF THE SAME ISSUE. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL A MORTALITY OCCURS FOR YOU TO DO SOMETHING! ASSEMBLE THESE CARE CORRECTLY!!! SERV DEPT COULD NEVER REPLICATE, I BROUGHT IT IN ONE TIME WHEN RADIO WAS ON A NON-EXISTENT PHONE CALL AND ACTING UP. THEY TOOK MY CAR AND TURNED IT OFF, NEXT DAY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE. I DEMANDED THAT THE GIRL WHO TOOK MY CAR IN AND SAW WHAT WAS GOING ON SPEAK WITH THE TECH TO EXPLAIN WHAT SHE SAW. THEY AGREED TO ORDER ME A NEW RADIO. ADDITIONALLY I BEGAN HAVING ISSUES W/ JEEP THROWING ON RANDOM DASH INDICATOR LIGHTS AND NOT STARTING. TCM PIN WAS SPREADING AND CAUSING INDICATORS B BATTERY CONTROLLING STOP/START TESTED BAD. THEY REPLACED. I HAD ALREADY REPLACED MY A BATTERY A DAY OR SO BEFORE. DAMAGE WIRES FOUND AT FUSE BOX (THEY BLAMED ME) I HAVE MADE ZERO MODS TO CAR OR EVEN LIFTED THE HOOD MYSELF. BCM REPLACED. I HAD ISSUE W/ ENGINE CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING IN ROAD & PULLING EBRAKE BEFORE I'M DUE FOR OIL CHANGE. HAD OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE AND THEY SAY IT'S FINE, THIS IS BECAUSE CHRYSLER MAKES UP THE CONSUMPTION STANDARD. SO YOU WILL ALWAYS BE "FINE." TEST DONE AIR IS FELT FROM OIL FILL, BORE SCOPE OF CYL 3 WALLS ARE SCORED AND HAVE OIL ON THEM. FCA APPROVES NEW ENGINE FOR ME. AFTER NEW ENG. I DRIVE 13 MI ENG IS OVER HEATING. MY DAUGHTER AND HER 2 BABIES WERE ALMOST KILLED WHEN IT JUST STALLED EXITING A MAJOR FREEWAY AND AN 18 WHEELER RIGHT BEHIND HER...CASE MANAGER (3RD CASE SINCE 2017) AT FCA WAS 'OH, SO SCARY'. THIS IS A SERIOUS, DEADLY ISSUE AND DEALERS OMIT THINGS FROM THE SYSTEM, PERFORM THE CONSUMPTION TESTS IMPROPERLY OR DON'T RECORD THEM AT ALL SO THEY WILL NOT HAVE TO DO WHAT'S RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WILL TOTALLY SHUT DOWN WHILE TURNING, EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL APPLY AND IT TAKES A BIT TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN. I CAN FEEL THE CAR START TO DECELERATE WHEN IT SEND THIS MESSAGE. FIRST, I SHIFT THE CAR INTO THE DESIRED GEAR (P), THEN BRAKE LOCKS ITSELF SO THAT I AM UNABLE TO USE TO PUSH-TO-START FEATURE AND PLACE THE CAR BACK INTO DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 4X/MORE. I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN THE SERVICE CENTER AT THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THE ISSUE AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND THE ACTUAL PROBLEM. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IT IS THE ENGINE/PUSH-TO-START FEATURE. WHEN I WAS INFORMED ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED, I ASKED WHY THERE WAS NO WARNING OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOING OFF ALERTING ME THAT SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT. THE PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID 'WELL ONCE YOU NOTICE THINGS AREN'T WORKING WELL, THEN IT'S PROBABLY A BATTERY ISSUE. BRING IT BACK IN.' HOW IS THIS ACCEPTABLE? THERE IS NO WARNING THAT MY CAR IS GOING TO JUST STOP AS I AM DRIVING. I JUST HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL OTHER THINGS GO WRONG TO DETERMINE IF IT IS MAYBE A BATTERY ISSUE? THAT IS UNHEARD OF. SO WHEN MY JEEP AUTOMATICALLY SHUT DOWN ON A ROAD WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 55, THAT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE? I AM COMPLETELY UNSATISFIED WITH MY EXPERIENCE RESOLVING THIS ISSUE, AND TO BE HONEST, I CANNOT SAY THAT IT IS RESOLVED BECAUSE THERE WILL BE NO WARNING AS TO WHETHER OR NOT IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE PROGRAM IN THE REMOTE STARTER THAT CAUSED THE ISSUE BUT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. AND DUE TO THE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE THE REGULAR WARRANTY EXPIRED. FIAT CHRYSLER HAS AGREED WITH THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THEY REMOVED THE POWER SUPPLY FUSE AND THE 30 AMP FUSE FROM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT AND DOWN CIRCUIT.

FIRST TIME WAS AN UPDATE THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. SECOND TIME WAS THE KEYFOB BATTERY BUT ACCUSED IT OF BEING LACK OF OIL CHANGES (I DON'T NEED TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR OIL CHANGES). NEXT, WAS NO EXPLANATION AT ALL. LAST WAS YESTERDAY WHEN IT DIED TWICE IN ONE DAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THEY CALLED TO LET ME KNOW THAT IT PROBABLY IS BECAUSE MY OIL IS 3/4 WAY DEPLETED EVEN THOUGH I HAD AN OIL CHANGE DONE LESS THAN 3K MILES AGO. THEIR SUGGESTION IS THAT I RETURN EVERY 500 MILES SO THEY CAN TOP ME OFF IF THE OIL SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE. THESE ARE THANKFULLY IN LESS BUSY STREETS MOSTLY DRIVING STRAIGHT BUT ONCE WHILE TURNING. ONCE INCLUDED AN ERROR CODE THAT I WAS TOLD WAS AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ERROR BUT IT DIDNT REGISTER. I HAVE PICTURES AND VIDEOS ON MY PHONE FROM THE INCIDENTS. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V301000 (POWER TRAIN); HOWEVER, THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.

CAR SHUTS OFF WHEN COMING TO A STOP WHEN THE AUTO OFF/ON IS TURNED OFF. ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY STARTED COMING ON BUT DID NOT AT FIRST. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR AND TRYING TO PULL OUT IT DIES AGAIN SOMETIMES LEAVING YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I GOT STRANDED FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES WHEN IT SHUT OFF. EVENTUALLY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT RESTARTED AND GET HOME WITH IT. NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED BUT WHEN TURNING I CAN HEAR A "DING" LIKE A BELL. THERE WAS ALSO A LIGHT THAT CAME ON WHICH LOOKED LIKE A LIGHTENING BOLT. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED AND IT HAS ALWAYS SEEMED LIKE THE IDOL WAS SET A LITTLE TO LOW AS IT DOESN'T REALLY MOVE WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. ALSO, WHEN THE ENGINE WENT OFF THE INSTRUMENT ON THE DASH SEEMED TO THINK THE CAR WAS STILL OPERATIONAL. IT WOULDN'T SHUT OFF LIKE IF YOU CAME HOME AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF.

THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT ON A CITY EXPRESSWAY AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE STOP/START SYSTEM FAILED TO RESTART THE ENGINE. IT ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART THE CAR. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE CAR WITH TRAFFIC FLYING BY ME I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND DISENGAGE THE PARKING BREAK. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND MY DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY WILL NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THEY ARE WAITING TO RECEIVE A STOP START BATTERY FROM MOPAR. IT HAS BEEN ON BACKORDER FOR A MONTH AND THEY DONT HAVE A DATE WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED. THIS KEEPS HAPPENING AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK AND THEY DO NOTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE START/STOP SYSTEM MADE TO CONSERVE GAS. THE SYSTEM SHOULD NOT LEAVE YOU STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY ROADS WHERE SOMEONE CAN SLAM INTO THE BACK OF YOU.

THEY THOUGHT CHANGING MY SHOCKS WOULD HELP BUT IT HAS NOT. THERE IS STILL A POPPING SOUND WHEN I HIT A CERTAIN SPEED AND THEN IT IS STILL SHIFTING EXTREMELY HARD RANDOMLY AND JERKS THE WHOLE JEEP WHEN IT HAPPENS. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO WRECK A COUPLE TIMES ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM IN A RIGHT HANDED CURVE AND THIS OCCURS; IT CAUSED ME TO GO OFF ROAD WHEN I TOOK A RIGHT HANDED CURVE AND IT OCCURRED. THAT DAY ALL THE CODES STARTED FLASHING ACROSS DASH WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY. THERE WERE 4 PAGES OF DIAGNOSTIC ERROR CODES. TECH ERIK JETER SAID A TCM FLASH UPDATE WAS AVAILABLE FOR TRANSMISSION SHIFT QUALITY. MUST UPDATE PCM AND TCM ALSO. THERE WERE MULTIPLE DTCS FOR ALL TURN SIGNALS AND LAMPS. DETERMINED CAUSE TO BE FAULTY BODY CONTROL MODULE AND INTERNAL FAILURE. THIS WAS ALLEGEDLY REPLACED, DESPITE BEING ORIGINALLY TOLD OF A RECALL AND BACKORDER OF PARTS THAT COULD LAST 6 MONTHS. CAR OUT OF SERVICE FOR 10 DAYS. PROBLEMS BEGAN AGAIN WITHIN A WEEK OF VEHICLES RETURN. IT WAS TAKEN TO LANDERS CDJR FOR SERVICE ON AUGUST 9, 2018. I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM DEALER. THEN THE BACKUP CAMERAS BEGAN FREEZING AND WOULD STAY WHILE CAR IN MOTION. WINDOWS STOPPED WORKING. ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2018 MY VEHICLE WAS FOUND TO BE SITTING BEHIND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ALONG SIDE MORE THAN A DOZEN OTHER NEW JEEP COMPASS VEHICLES WITH STOP SALE/DO NOT SELL WRITTEN ACROSS WINDOWS. THE CONTACT USED AN INSTRUMENT TO BREAK THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND ESCAPED FROM THE BURNING VEHICLE. WITHIN TWO MINUTES, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. ON 1/12/18 MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START SO I CALLED FOR A TOW TO TAKE TO THE DEALERSHIP AUTO CENTER THEY SAID IT WAS A WIRE THAT WAS BURNT THAT CONNECTS TO THE STEERING. RECEIVED IT A COUPLE DAYS LATER THE NEXT DAY IT WOULD NOT START AFTER 5 HOURS OF WAITING ON A TOW IT STARTED UP AND I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN THEY CALLED THE MODULE WAS GOING OUT IT GOT REPLACED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR BACK. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN I KEPT PLAYING WITH THE IGNITION BACK AND FORTH TO SEE WOULD IT START NOTHING. AGAIN REQUESTED A TOW NONE CAME. BY THE TIME I WAS LEAVING FOR WORK I TRIED AGAIN IT STARTED I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY KEPT IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND NOTHING WAS COMING UP ON THE MACHINE. I DROVE IT FOR A WEEK OR SO AND ON 2/6/18 THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START UP AFTER I HAD JUST GOT OUT OF IT FROM RUNNING ERRANDS AND A FEW OCCASIONS I FELT THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTEN AND WAS HARD TO TURN. THOSE TIMES I WAS PARKED ON PARKED ON THE STREETS BUT ON FEB 6 I PARKED A FEW INCHES BY THE FIRE HYDRANT RAN INTO THE HOUSE TO TAKE THE GROCERIES AND COME OUT TO MOVE THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START. 02/05/2018......BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NOVEMBER 2017. TWICE ALREADY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THROUGH RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC THE DASH DISPLAY STARTED FLASHING ERRATICALLY AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER, A TOTAL SHUT DOWN. NO RADIO, NO DASH, NO BRAKES, NO STEERING. LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS MOVING EACH TIME. AFTER APPROXIMATELY A CITY BLOCK THE CAR RESTARTS. DEALER TESTED THE CAR AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AFTER DRIVING IT 20 MILES WITH A COMPUTER CONNECTED. I FEEL THIS CAN BE LIFE THREATENING AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE THE INEVITABLE HAPPENS. I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN AND MY WIFE WITH ME MOST OF THE TIME. THEY RECOMMEND DRIVING IT TO SEE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I'M NO LONGER COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE.

THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400.

OUT DOOR TEMPERATURE READS 3 DASHES. HAZARD LIGHTS INOPERABLE. ODOMETER FLASHING. PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY FOR 30 SECONDS, THAN COMES RIGHT BACK. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, BLOWER FAN AND BLEND DOOR CODES. THIS HAPPENS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. REGARDLESS OF WHEN AND WHERE. ODOR OF BURNING ELECTRICAL/WIRES CAME OUT OF VENTS.
