So I know there was a recall for this year make and model and engine type and even before I knew about this recall I noticed this jeep is burning oil like crazy I have to get an oil change sometimes under every 3,000 miles and its bad I take it to my oil change place they tell me it shouldnt be burning this much oil. I called Jeep to try to see if they could fix it and they are not acknowledging the issue even though there is a recall for this issue in the past they are not adding my VIN for some reason in the recall and my jeep is still under warranty. Please assist in getting my jeep compass added to this recall so they can remediate the safety issue. I will be driving sometimes on the highway and the cheap just stops on me because of this issue. I have two young children and it is very dangerous at times to drive like that. The Carfax can show how often I am taking my Jeep to an oil change so it is not that I am the issue and just not getting oil changes. This has been happening since i purchased the jeep.

My start/stop system stopped working suddenly and it jerks forward almost stalling as it accelerates and decelerates. The radio glitches and flips between settings at a fast pace. It randomly loses power when accelerating and traction control flashes on dashboard. The check engine light came on for a few days then went off.

While driving I often get an oil warning light and have had my engine system entirely and randomly shut down while driving. I have the oil changed regularly and serviced regularly and still have this problem. The entire system shuts down while driving and I’m left unable to move. It’s incredibly dangerous!

With absolutely zero prior indication of a problem, the car became completely immobilized in drive while attempting to turn after being stopped at a traffic light on a busy four lane road. Every imaginable code was cycling through on the dash and all warning code lights came on. I was unable to shift the car into any gear. Meaning, I could not shift into neutral to push the car safely out of the way of traffic. Additionally the car could not be turned off. I could not roll down the windows and the touchscreen was inoperable. After approximately 6-8 minutes I was able to shift into neutral to push the car to a safer area. The same immobilization issue happened 3 days later after the battery and alternator were replaced. This time, I put the car in reverse and it became immobilized in exactly the same way. The car turned itself off after approximately 10 minutes and was towed to the dealership where it has been for 30 days. The dealership scanned the codes on the car and the result was 300+ error codes. The dealer cannot diagnose the problem but they have been able to replicate the issue. The car is well maintained and there were no warning messages or other symptoms of any problem prior to the first incident January 27, 2024. The car remains at the dealer and it is available for inspection.

Burning through oil! No light on for oil and not to mileage for oil change. Happened to check oil this morning and there was only a tiny bit on stick like hardly any. This is not the only issue with this vehicle.

I was driving my 2018 jeep compass with my 5 month old, my car slowed down to a complete stop and said put in park while I’m driving, the D on the shift control kept blinking. As I put it in park in the middle of the road it still didn’t work, so I shut my car off and tried to restart it, it did nothing and then randomly started on its own 2 minutes later, after driving it, it happened again! I almost got in 2 car accidents in less then 20 min as I can not move it to the side of the road it just stops on me. This has happened once more the day after! No one can explain what my car is doing. But I’m afraid to drive it, and scared I’ll get in an accident or cause one because it’s already happened 3 times!

My jeep has died 3 different times in traffic. Once at full highway speeds, once in a intersections, etc. All with my minor child involved. They have "serviced" My vehicle 2 timed already and returned it with the same dangerous issue. They are saying they fulfilled the recall because they replaced a part, yet the issue persists. Last time I checked, fixed things work properly. Please force them to fix or replace my jeep before myself or my child dies.

While stopped at a red light the vehicle just shut off would not start all the lights on the dash information were illuminated. After several minutes of sitting in traffic vehicle did start. Approximately 15 minutes later the same thing happened while driving in traffic.was sitting in moving traffic very dangerous.Drove directly to Jeep Dealer luckily I have a extended warranty but I had to pay a 100.00 deductible out of my pocket. And was told by Dealer that it is fixed a Hood sensor.

Sometimes when the electronic stop start function turn the engine off at a stop light, the vehicle stalls and is difficult to restart. Additionally, the parking brake sometimes goes on during these episodes. This has happened five or six times.

Over the past two days the engine on my 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk simply stopped and cut off as I was turning into intersections. Thankfully I was able to coast to the shoulder and put the Jeep into park to restart engine. This is such a dangerous issue, and I cannot even imagine it happening on a highway or merging lane going 65 mph. Scheduled an appointment for vehicle, and I noted that other Jeep Compass vehicles from 2018 had a recall due to cracked fuel pump issue, though it seems my particular VIN is not "part" of that recall. Maybe it needs to be. This is a very dangerous issue.

Daughter was driving. Came to a stop sign, proceeded through after stopping and the the car's accelerator wouldn't work and the car stalled in the middle of the intersection. She had to turn if off and it started back up after a few "weird" sounds. Took it to a shop we trust, they checked it quickly and couldn't find a reason. Checked the battery:fine. Checked the oil: was low, told to return soon for oil. This incident was repeated the next day. She stopped driving it, dropped it off at the same shop. The shop inspected throughly, found to have no oil in the engine. Have been advised to add oil to this car every 1000-1500 miles to keep it safe.

My car uses too much oil and my car keeps shutting off after 3000 miles when I should be getting 5-6000 to an oil change. My engine literally ran out of oil in about 6 weeks and my mechanics stated that it must be a recall issue. I feel like this is a threat to engine safety.

My Jeep burns through oil very fast. My oil change sticker will stay I do not need an oil change for 2,000 more miles but my car will shut off WHILE driving and then be hesitant to restart. My engine light will then turn on. I will go to get an oil change and there will be nothing left. I will get an oil change and then everything will be fine again for the most part. There is no recall on my VIN but there needs to be. It is incredibly unsafe because my car has shut off on me while driving and then will not start until after a few attempts.

On 2 separate occasions, my Jeep Compass has stalled completely shutting off, emergency brake engages on it's own and the steering wheel locks and the vehicle will not restart immediately. I have been on slight upward grades both times and vehicle starts shifting backwards as I attempt to get it restarted and it would not restart immediately either time. Vehicle had to be put in park, I had to wait atleast a minute if not 2 or 3 to get it to restart. Had I been in higher traffic areas or on a highway, this could have caused a major accident. Jeep dealers near me are backed up on service dates telling me they can't get it in for atleast a month and a half so I took it to a local certified mechanic who said nothing is throwing a code and drove it, but this didn't occur while they had it, so there was nothing they could do for me. I'm scared it will happen again and next time I might be in a higher traffic situation. I've read numerous other complaints like this online after searching the issue but I don't see any resolutions.

Turned vehicle on. Going down the road about a mile from home vehicle turned off while in motion. Manage to turn car on after a minute and move to a safe area. After inspection, car had thought half an inch of oil. Car is inspected with regular oil changes. No prior signs that vehicle has loss oil.

Since purchasing my vehicle the fuel saver feature has caused my car to stall at stop signs or red lights. I have taken it in many times for service for them to put a temporary update on the computer and say im good to go. Yet again this past weekend we go to stop at a red light, the fuel saver kicks on, and all of sudden the car stalls, warning messages start popping up stating engine service, transmission service, auto start/stop disabled, and the car starts rolling backwards as we were on a hill. Luckily we put our hazards on and turned the car off and back on and was then able to accelerate forward but the warning signs continue to show. To say this vehicle is going to kill someone is an understatement yet there are no active recalls for this vehicle. I have read countless articles on consumers having this exact issue for this same car with nothing being done.

My vehicle has nearly killed my entire family multiple times now, stalling out on the highway going 75 miles an hour, shutting off because I turned a corner, rarely starting and having to buy a jump box because my vehicle doesn't want to start due to have a bad PCM according to U87 recall that my VIN isn't included in. I have been lied to by your staff every single time I have called, I am hopeful to get the class action lawsuit that so many states have going on in Missouri as well. My vehicle is extremely dangerous and going to kill my family it will be your fault it, I will ensure that an attorney is well aware of the lack of empathy, the lack of action your company has done, and downright refusal to do the necessary repairs to make my vehicle safe.

In April my vehicle started stalling when I would turn the corner. Then it died when my son and I were going down the highway at full speed. It just stopped running I had no power to move anymore. Then it would not sure off so I could start it again, now it is hit or miss if it will start I had to buy a jump box so I could go to the store or work. Today the auto start light came on, I am in fear for my families safety. I have reported it to Chrysler multiple times, taken my vehicle to two different dealerships all refusing to help the second dealer refuses to look at it to determine what the issue could be without me paying them first. I am scare we are going to stall again in the highway and get killed. Please help.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER KEENE JEEP LOCATED AT 410 WINCHESTER ST, KEENE, NH 03431 WHO REPLACED THE ENGINE BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED TO OCCUR. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM WOULD NOT DEACTIVATE CAUSING THE DRIVER TO CRASH INTO A TREE STUMP. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED, NO POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE ODOR OF COOLANT WAS ALSO PRESENT INSIDE THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BECOME ILL. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. I HEADED FOR THE DEALERSHIP INSTANTLY. AFTER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD BE REPLACED. ENGINE WAS REPLACE MID NOVEMBER 2020. NOT EVEN 3000 MILES ON THE NEW ENGINE IT ONCE AGIAN STALLED OUT AND ENGAGED PARKING BRAKE. OIL IS NOT LOW. "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" IS ON AND CAR BOGS DOWN WHEN ACCELERATED. CAN NOT DRIVE IN NORMAL TRAFFIC. ALMOST LIKE TRANSMISSION IS GOING. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN UNDER 2YRS OLD AN ITS OUR ONLY CAR! IT WAS WHEN WE WERE JUST COASTING INTO OUR DESTINATION. THE COMPASS'S PARKING BRAKE LIGHT THEN CAME ON AND A DASH MESSAGE READ "VEHICLE CANNOT SHIFT WHILE MOVING" OR SOMETHING TO THAT EXTENT. IT THEN TURNED OVER MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE STARTING BUT DROVE FINE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE HOME. HOPING THIS DOES NOT CONTINUE THROUGH THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE.

THE FUEL HAND IS INACCURATE I HAD A HALF A TANK OF GAS STARTED IT AND IT RANDOMLY SAID I HAD 423 MILES TO E WHICH IT HAS NEVER SAID NOT EVEN WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS EVER SINCE THEN IT'S LIKE IT DRINKS THE GAS IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE GETTING MORE THAN 120 MILES A TANK A GAS EVERY TWO DAYS I HAVE TO PUT GAS IN IT OR THE GAS HAND IS LYING. WHEN DRIVING SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE SOMETHING KICKS IT IN THE REAR IT DOESN'T ALWAYS DO THAT BUT IT'S OCCASIONALLY AND I'M CONCERNED THAT MAYBE SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION THERE'S ONLY 46,000 MILES ON IT I'VE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE THAT AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK IT FEELS LIKE SOMETHING KICKS IT OR HITS IT IN THE REAR BEFORE IT TAKES OFF IT GETS UP TO 6 OR 7 SOMETIMES BEFORE IT WILL EVEN CHANGE GEARS WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE GARAGE THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG OR THEY CHANGED THE AIR FILTER.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHORTLY AFTER, THE LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANCIRA CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM LOCATED AT 10807 I-10, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78230, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT AN UNKNOWN FUEL TANK COMPONENT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THIS JEEP CANNOT GO 3,000 MILES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. EVEN WHEN USING A FULLY SYNTHETIC OIL THAT HAS A LIFE SPAN OF 5,000 MILES, THE "LOW OIL PRESSURE" WARNING COMES ON. IF NOT SERVICED, THE VEHICLE STALLS (USUALLY WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, USUALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION!). UPON TOWING IT TO A SERVICE STATION, THEY STATE THAT THEY CAN'T FIX IT, ONLY THE DEALERSHIP CAN FIX IT. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT IT JUST NEEDS AN OIL CHANGE. SO, INSTEAD OF USING THE "MILEAGE TO NEXT OIL CHANGE" STICKER, I HAVE TO HAVE THE OIL LEVEL CHECKED TO ESTIMATE WHEN IT WILL STALL AGAIN. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR.

THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND ANY CODE THAT INDICATE A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE

NARRATIVE: IN AUGUST 2019, I WAS DRIVING FROM MY HOME TOWARD THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS LOST POWER. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE SO I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHIFTED INTO PARK. (LUCKILY, I HAD NOT REACHED THE HIGHWAY AND WAS NOT IN DANGER OF BEING REAR-ENDED DUE TO THE SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION!) I NOTICED THE PARKING BRAKE HAD ENGAGED AND I COULD NOT RELEASE IT. THE LOW OIL LIGHT THEN FLASHED ON. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT, BUT IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE. THE D BUTTON WAS FLASHING, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO IN GEAR. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON TWICE MORE UNTIL IT FINALLY ALLOWED ME TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. I ATTEMPTED A K-TURN IN A DRIVEWAY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO MY HOME, WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AGAIN, THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED AND THE LOW OIL LIGHT REAPPEARED. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND ON AND AGAIN I COULDN'T MOVE. I WAITED FOR 5 MINUTES AND FINALLY WAS ABLE TO RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE AND SHIFT INTO REVERSE. I SHIFTED TO DRIVE AFTER EXITING THE DRIVEWAY AND AFTER DRIVING 1/8 OF A MILE THE POWER FAILED AGAIN. AFTER WAITING ANOTHER FEW MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME TO PARK IN MY DRIVEWAY AND ASKED MY HUSBAND TO CHECK THE OIL. THE OIL RESERVOIR WAS PRACTICALLY EMPTY! WE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WE WERE TOLD TO PUT SOME OIL IN IT AND DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. COMMENTS: THIS OCCURRENCE PUT ME IN A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION THAT CAUSED ME GREAT ANXIETY. I HATE TO THINK WHAT COULD'VE HAPPENED ON OUR VERY BUSY HIGHWAY THAT I TRAVEL ON FOR MANY MILES DAILY. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO GIVE THE DRIVER A WARNING BEFORE THE OIL LEVEL IS SO LOW IT STOPS THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC! I HAVE READ MANY TESTIMONIALS FROM OTHER JEEP COMPASS OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS JEEP WITH MY FAMILY!

MY BRAKE ENGAGED YESTERDAY WHILE TRAVELING ON A CITY STREET. I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT. I PUSHED THE GAS TO MAKE MY VEHICLE ACCELERATE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. AFTER CONFIRMING NOTHING HAD HIT THE BRAKE BUTTON. I PUSHED THE BRAKE RELEASE. THE VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT GO FORWARD. THERE WERE IMAGES ON THE SCREEN THAT INCLUDE AN A!, ENGINE SYMBOL, ETC. I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO RESTART THE CAR. IT WOULD NOT START. THE BRAKE WAS ENGAGED AGAIN. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN THIS HAPPENS ON A MAJOR STREET DURING PEAK HOURS OF TRAFFIC. DURING ONE OF THE TIMES MY VEHICLE RESPONDED LIKE THIS. THE OIL LIGHT WAS ON. I WENT TO THE CLOSEST FACILITY TO GET MY VEHICLE CHECKED. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO OIL IN MY VEHICLE ON APRIL 17, 2019. I HAD JUST HAD MY OIL CHANGED.

THE JEEP HAS AN ISSUE....WHEN I BACK INTO MY DRIVE WAY IN REVERSE THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES ROLL FORWARD....REALLY UNSURE WHAT THIS IS ABOUT BUT BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE CHECKED OUT. ALSO, THE JEEP SOMETIMES JERK WHEN I TAKE OFF AND EVEN SWERVE OVER TO THE LANE LEFT OF ME WHEN I'M DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY. I HAVE MENTIONED THESE THINGS TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT NOTHING BACK YET. I LOVE THE VEHICLE BUT THERE'S DEFINITELY SOME ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE RESOLVED.

VEHICLE BURNS THROUGH OIL AT A RAPID RATE WITH NO WARNING INDICATORS. ONCE THE OIL REACHES A CRITICAL LEVEL THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WITH NO WARNING. DEALERSHIP CALLED THIS "LIMP MODE" THIRD OIL CHANGE I CHECKED THE LEVEL FOR SAFETY. 1000 MILES TO GO BEFORE MY NEXT OIL CHANGE AND THE ENGINE IS DOWN 2 QUARTS.

CONSUMER STATED IT WAS AROUND 8,000 MILES, IT STALLED DRIVING ON A THRUWAY IN NEW YORK TRAFFIC, PARKING BREAK ENGAGED AND IT CAME TO FULL STOP, HAD TO DEPRESS BRAKE AND RESTART CAR. MY JEEP HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR A WEEK WHILE THEY FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. THEY SAID THE OIL IS NOT PUMPING OUT. AT MY LAST OIL CHANGE THEY SAID THE JEEP IS BURNING OIL LIKE CRAZY WITH NO WARNING ABOUT LOW OIL. IT HAS 13,000 MILES ON IT AND ALSO INTERMITTENTLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING,I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND THE PARKING BREAK ENGAGES. THEN RESTART IT, IT ALSO INTERMITTENTLY WON'T START AT ALL. THEN AFTER A FEW HOURS IT WILL START BUT RUNS REALLY ROUGH. ANOTHER ISSUE IS WITH WHAT SOUNDS LIKE THE SUSPENSION IN THE FRONT RIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. IT FEELS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN. THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A FREEWAY IN TRAFFIC IN NEW YORK AND IT WAS THE SCARIEST FEW MOMENTS OF MY LIFE. HONESTLY I AGREE THAT THIS CAR IS STARTING TO FEEL LIKE A DEATH TRAP YET THERE ARE NO RECALLS WHEN I ENTER MY VIN. *DT*JB

FIRST OFF. I HAVE A 2018 JEEP COMPASS THAT'S I GOT A FEW WEEKS AGO AND I'M NOTICING NOW THAT MY BRAKES ARE ALREADY TERRIBLY GRINDING, THE ENGINE GETS WAY TOO HOT EVEN THOUGH THE INDICATOR IS ALWAYS NEUTRAL AND NEVER MOVES EVER. ALSO THE MPG IS ABSOLUTE CRAP AND I THINK IT HAS TO DO WITH THE ENGINE SYSTEM ITSELF CAUSING PROBLEMS. I LOST 45 MILES ACCORDING TO THE INDICATOR AND REALLY ONLY WENT 12 MILES BACK FROM WORK. THAT SHOULDN'T BE RIGHT.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR, WITHOUT WARNING THIS JEEP STALLS, PUTTING MY WIFE IN A POTENTIALLY FATAL OR INJURIOUS ACCIDENT SITUATION. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY KNOW AND ACCEPT AS NORMAL THIS BRAND NEW CAR BURNING A QUART OF OIL EVERY 2000 MILES AND THAT IF THE CAR GETS LOW ON OIL IT WILL QUIT RUNNING, BUT THEY NEVER TELL THE OWNER OF THE CAR, THEY ONLY SAY COME BACK IN 5000 MILES FOR NEXT OIL CHANGE, MEANWHILE THE CAR STARTS STALLING AT 3-4000 MILES

WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION ENGINE WILL STALL AT RED LIGHTS / INTERSECTIONS, CAR WILL STATE:PUT CAR IN DRIVE BUT CAR IS IN DRIVE, LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING WILL ILLUMINATE WHEN TURNING RIGHT THEN DISAPPEAR, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL FLASH THEN TURN OFF. CAR MAY STALL, LOSE POWER, EMERGENCY BRAKE WARNING, NO GAS PEDAL RESPONSE. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND IT APPEARS THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR COULD BE FAULTY...CAR IS 2018 WITH 21,000 MILES...CPS SHOULD NOT BE FAULTY AT THIS LOW MILEAGE/AGE OF VEHICLE...SEEMS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT ACROSS JEEP COMPASS VEHICLES OF MULTIPLE YEARS.....RECALL JEEP VEHICLES FOR FAULTY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR....HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS WELL, CAR LOSES POWER AND STEERING ABILITY.....DANGEROUS

HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH SOUND SYSTEM SHUTTING OFF AND NOT COMING BACK ON, ALSO TOOK CAR IN FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD MY CAR HAD VERY LITTLE OIL ALMOST OUT AND NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AT ALL AND IT WASN'T EVEN TIME FOR MY OIL CHANGE, I WAS EARLY. AND NOW MY START/STOP LIGHT CAME ON AND DEALER STATES NO PROBLEM IT JUST WANT WORK PROPERLY.. GAS MILEAGE IS HORRIBLE AND I HAVE TO HAVE OIL CHANGED AND CHECKED MORE OFTEN DUE TO KNOWN ONGOING ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL. I HAVE ONLY 17K ON MY VEHICLE AND PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM. OVER THE PAST WEEK, I HAVE HAD ABOUT 10 INSTANCES WHERE MY NEW (6 MONTH OLD - ~5K MILE) JEEP COMPASS DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, MOVE, OR ANYTHING. THE ONLY ACTION I COULD DO WAS TO BRAKE. DURING A HANDFUL OF THESE INSTANCES, I WAS IN A PARKING GARAGE, GAS STATION OR ON A SIDE STREET WHERE I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER AND FIGURE OUT HOW TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE OTHER TIMES, I WAS DRIVING TO/FROM WORK IN THE CITY OF BOSTON. THESE EVENTS WERE EXTREMELY TERRIFYING AND THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT WARNING TO PREVENT BEING STUCK IMMOBILE IN THESE INTERSECTIONS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, REMOVE THE PARKING BRAKE (WHICH AUTOMATICALLY TURNS ON WHILE DRIVING), THEN SHUT OFF THE CAR, THEN TURN ON THE CAR AGAIN (WHERE THE ENGINE TURNS OVER A FEW TIMES FIRST), THEN IT'S "GOOD" TO DRIVE AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY JEEP DEALER (WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE) TO HAVE THE ISSUE INSPECTED/OIL CHANGED. AS A RESULT, THEY CONCLUDED THAT THE ENGINE ON MY JEEP HAS AN UNRESOLVABLE ISSUE FROM THE MANUFACTURER WHERE THE ENGINE BURNS OIL MORE THAN ADVERTISED, UNLIKE THE 2016 VERSION OF THIS VEHICLE.THEY CONFIRM THAT NO MESSAGE OR ENGINE LIGHT CODE APPEARED, AND THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT THIS WOULD BE TO CHECK THE OIL CONSTANTLY. THEY SHOWED A PRINT OUT FROM THEIR SYSTEM THAT STATED MY CAR HAS 5 QUARTS OF OIL, AND EACH 1 QUART OF OIL SHOULD LAST ~5K MILES. THEREFORE, THE OIL SHOULD NOT BE LOW ENOUGH TO STALL AN ENGINE @ 6 MONTHS/5K MILES. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT ACCEPTABLE IN A NEW VEHICLE. I HAVE NO INDICATION WHEN A PROBLEM EXISTS. IF I RECEIVED SOME SORT OF WARNING/DASHLIGHT (REALLY ANYTHING), I WOULD KNOW THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL AN ISSUE IS ADDRESSED. HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN, SO I HAVE TO MANUALLY CHECK THE OIL WHEN I HAVE NO EXPERTISE IN DOING SO IN ORDER TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE.

I TAKE MY VEHICLE IN FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGES, HOWEVER, ON TWO OCCASIONS THEY SERVICE TECHNICIANS HAVE NOTIFIED ME THAT MY OIL IS ALMOST COMPLETELY OUT. I HAVE BEEN GETTING MY CAR SERVICES AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP. FOR SOME REASON, MY CAR APPEARS TO BE CONSUMING RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS OF OIL AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHY. THE JUST KEEP TELLING ME TO COME BACK TO GET ANOTHER OIL CHANGE. I'M GOING THROUGH SEVERAL QUARTERS FULL SYNTHETIC QUARTS EVERY THOUSAND OR SO MILES. THE VEHICLE IS NOT LEAKING OIL ANYWHERE; AS I PARK IN THE SAME SPOTS AT WORK AND AT HOME AND HAVE SEEN NOTHING LEAKING. I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS IS A *SEPARATE AND UNRELATED ISSUE* TO THE ELECTRONIC ISSUES THAT ARE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL WITHOUT NOTICE, WHILE IN MOTION.

MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON, RIGHT SIDE OF RPM GAUGE IS LITE UP WITH THREE BARS. VEHICLE HAS LARGE CLUNK WHEN TURNING CORNERS AND ACCELERATING, ATTEMPTS TO STALE AT LOW SPEEDS. NOTE I TURN OFF THE STOP/START SWITCH AS I DO NOT LIKE IT TO TURN OFF AT STOP SIGNS. THE VEHICLE ACTS LIKE IT IS STILL ON. THE DEALER SAID IT COULD NOT LOOK AT MY CAR FOR TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE HAS 2,496 MILES ON IT. THEY TOLD ME THE FIRST TIME I COMPLAINED THAT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY DRIVE AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 40 YEARS. VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS FOR STALLING OUT EVEN AT SPEEDS OF 10-20 MPH. WHEN I SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE IN MY GARAGE, IT FEELS LIKE THE REAR END IS GOING TO BUST THROUGH THE FLOOR BOARDS.

I JUST LEASED A BRAND NEW JEEP COMPASS. AT ABOUT 178 MILES, I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK FOR THE FIRST TIME. AFTER LEAVING THE GAS STATION, MY CAR STALLED ABOUT .2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD WHILE GOING ABOUT 10MPH. THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH STATES TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND THEN INTO THE DESIRED GEAR, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER.FROM THERE, THE ENGINE WOULD START AND I COULD DRIVE, BUT ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AGAIN AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR CAUSING THE ISSUE, BUT I HAD NO PROBLEMS UNTIL I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK. I FEAR THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, OR ON A BUSY ROAD.
