2018 JEEP COMPASS Service Brakes Problems

UNKNOWN. Saw there was recall in past for rear piston but mine was not affected. But I’m having issues with the brakes. When slowing down or coming to stop when using the brake, the whole car shakes and rattles.

While driving with my wife and 3 kids the car automatically braked by itself. Lucky to be able to report this. The NTHSA doesn’t have any current recalls on my VIN. It should now this model vehicle could be causing future accidents or deaths. Hope this gets some attention asap.

While driving the emergency brake self engages causing the Jeep to come to a sudden stop.

My vehicle shuts off while driving and while vehicle is in “Drive” mode, after my vehicle stopped the “emergency brake” automatically pops on then my car stalls before finally turning back on. This has been ongoing for months. The last incident happened two days ago while I was on a busy road and my car stopped in mid traffic while I was in drive and caused a panic. My engine light came on and I took it to get hooked up by the reader at an auto place and the following codes were displayed “PIDD2” & “U1428” upon checking online and researching the issue I found that my vehicle make, model and year has been recalled for the same issues that I am currently experiencing with my vehicle and the TCM system needing to be reset. Specifically the Chrysler U87 recall.

When driving the electronic emergency brake self engages thus causing the car to come to an abrupt stop. You will need to turn the car off and on again to dis-engage the brake. This has happened sever times both on the highway and local streets.

The auto stop/start feature on this vehicle continues to have issues after parts such as; alternator, batteries and cables were replaced twice!

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the 4-WD, ABS, Hill Assist, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the differential malfunctioned due to a tightening and then releasing that occurred while attempting to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed and determined that the rear ABS sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and then confirmed that parts were not available nor longer in production. The approximate failure mileage was 21,000.

My car stalled as I was about to turn after stopped at a red light. I tried to restart it several times and then I looked down and noticed the emergency brake light was on. I turned it off, tried starting it again and then it seemed fine. Later as I was mid turn going left through an intersection the car partially stalled where I could not finish my acceleration through the intersection ( it was still on but I could not accelerate however I was able to get it to sort of drift to the side of the road where it then stalled completely). Thankfully there were no vehicles headed through the intersection as I was trying to get out of the way. When I looked down the emergency brake light was on again. I did not receive any warning lights prior to this happening. I currently have it in the shop to have the issue looked at but I have had numerous issues with this vehicle since I bought it. Previous issues were not as scary as this one.

Car went in for recall on start/stop issue a few months ago. Recently wife parked the car and turned it off. Several minutes later went to turn it on again and it was dead. Engine would not start and electronics did not work. Could not even put car in neutral to have towed. Had to get new aux. battery and unhook neutral on main battery just to get into neutral to be able to tow. Dealership in Mt. Airy, NC is now trying to say we caused issues by hooking up battery incorrectly which is untrue since the issue happened before anyone messed with the battery.

ABS anti lock break system The first time it happened, I was slowing down at a stop light, and then starting back up the car stalled and would not move It had to be turned off and on in the middle of an intersection A car from behind had to skid and almost crashed into me Another time I was turning onto a major. road and it suddenly stalled once again almost got rear ended This happened a series of times, and was taken into a local mechanic each time, in which case they said it was the wheel sensors and replaced each one Both independent and Jeep dealership reproduced and confirmed the issue No warning lights prior to the first issue. Every time the car was taken into mechanic the warning lights were cleared for @ 30 days Each time the warning lights came on the car would simultaneously stall again

CAR ENGINE SHUT OFF AT HIGHWAY SPEED CAR LOST ALL POWER NO ACCELERATION / BRAKING / STEERING THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. NO NO. AS IT WAS HAPPENING

For the second time this week , the emergency brakes have engaged while my vehicle was in motion . Both times in the middle of a busy intersection . The car gives me about 5 seconds to try to get to somewhere safe before it totally cuts off. Luckily both times i was able to put hazards on , get a clear path to the side of the road and fidget with it until it started up again . Terrifying to think that i could lose my life or cause someone else to get seriously injured because my vehicle just STOPS in the middle of driving . With NO WARNING , and literally only seconds to react.

While driving on a busy road the car could not accelerate and the emergency brake turned on by itself causing the car to stop abruptly. This has happen 2 times in 1 week.

1. The car will stall while driving at highway speeds and/or will turn on the emergency brake after stopping due to a stop sign or traffic. Yes this is available for inspection. 2. Not as of yet, Jeep said it was a battery problem. 3. The vehicle has been inspected by Jeep. 4. There were no signs or symptoms of the problem prior to failure. It occurred from one day to another and has not stopped.

My car lost acceleration on nj Garden state highway driving 65 miles. Luckily I was driving in the right lane as this happened. I quickly flashed my hazards as soon as I noticed, to alert drivers behind me. My car slowly moved onto the side of the highway. My breaks would not fully stop the car. It finally stopped on its own luckily. I stayed on the side of the road for about a few good long mins trying to figure out what to do or WHO to call. I then tried turning on the car again to see if it would start. It turned on and the oil warning blinked for like one second. That was it. Never stayed on like other cars do. Not one warning beforehand. From my experience of owning other cars, if your car is running low on oil, a warning light comes on and stays on until the oil is changed. Not this car, only this one second. I was heading into nyc and I just prayed my car wouldn’t shut down on me again until I got to my destination. Luckily got home safe and made an appointment to a mechanic. They told me my car consumes more oil than the average car and therefore I would have to change it more frequently. This is the reason my car malfunctioned. How is this safe? Especially that the car doesn’t give a warning, this has given me so much anxiety. I could have gotten into a major accident. Now I have to guess whether I’ve driven x amount of miles and now I have to change the oil. Such a safety hazard.

About two weeks ago got to my destination ok. As I was leaving I tried to start the car and the brake pedal was hard to push. The car would not start but it would turn on. Nothing was left turned on before I started it. I looked at the voltage and it said 12.0. I kept turning on and off and the car would not start just turn on(radio and lights). Finally said maybe a jump would help. I found someone who could jump my car and it finally worked. Voltage went up to 14.2. My battery was changed exactly one year ago by a jeep dealer. Then this week I was driving on a local street and at a red light I stepped on the accelerator to go, the run stop feature stalled my car and shut it down. My breaks went hard, the voltage went down again. I was stuck on the street. I turned my hazards on to notify other cars. My son was in the car with me too. My anxiety level shot up. Ive had one too many issues with this car. I left the car off for about 10 mins and tried starting it again. Finally it turned on, weak, and all the lights went wonky but then it got stable and started running. I prayed that I get home safely. I did, and made an appointment to the service dealer. It is at the shop right now and they are trying to diagnose my car. Definitely a safety concern.

My head lights go out and will not come on while driving and the parking brakes turns on by itself

On 3/19/2022 and on 3/21/2022 while at a stop sign went to make a right hand turn and my car stalled and emergency brake engaged by itself. Had to wait a couple minutes and finally car restarted. Both times the car stalled in roadway, not enough power to pull off road. My Car has 45000 miles and original paperwork says Oil Consumption recall, however the VIN search does not show that at all. Please help.

Two issues to report. Both common and known to happen. Causing safety issues. The 1st. Wheel speed sensors either come loose or disconnected. This turns off AbS , dynamic steering and hill descent. Could be very dangerous is rainy or icy conditions. The 2nd. The Jeep radio unit starts to go out and then dies. Dealers know about the issue but have no idea how to fix other than make the consumer pay for a replacement if out of warranty. When the head unit goes out, the driver looses the ability to use the rear view camera while reversing, could be potentially deadly for kids behind a vehicle. Both issues are widely known on Jeep Compass 2nd generations and above. Just like the engines consume oil, Jeep knows about the wheel speed issue and radio issue.

My car stalls and then stops at red lights or when stopping for a bit of time. When I accelerate it seems to hesitate and then stop. The brake engages and the engine stops. I cannot go at all. All of my dashboard lights, the radio, and anything else that was on at the time, like the A/C, still runs. I have to turn everything off. Wait about a minute and disengage the brake. I can press the ignition button and the car starts back. If I had to describe it, the car dies as soon as I accelerate after stopping at red lights or at stop signs. At first, I thought it was because I was stepping on the gas too soon after stopping but that is not the case. This is becoming an issue and it is extremely frightening and annoying

CAR WOULD NOT STOP, HAD NO CONTROL BEFORE IT HIT THE FRONT OF A HOUSE

I purchased my vehicle in 2019 and had no issues aside from having to get my oil changed much more often than expected (not just by me, but by my servicing location). Just last month I went to turn my vehicle on for work, and the vehicle seemed to be turning on, but then stalled out. It read a message of “service electronic parking brake” and “service ESC system.” My husband managed to get it to turn on the next day and we took it into the dealership, but they could not replicate the incident and said no codes appeared and the vehicle was “fine”. Less than a week later, the same issue arose yet again and I worked around some technical way to be able to turn it on. It was an off and on issue. A couple of days ago when turning on the vehicle to go to work the issue continued, but still I turned it on the way I have gotten accustomed to. As I shift gears into drive, I notice the car feeling somewhat shaky and when I head out lightly press my brakes, the brakes feel as if my emergency brake is engaged. I stop into a parking spot and turn on my emergency parking brake and then disengage it. Then I decide to see if that made a difference, well this time as I picked up speed (around 10mph) it felt as if I had a flat tire but all the tires were fine. I parked back up and took my car to the dealership the following day. On the short drive to the dealership the car felt like it was dragging heavily and the sound was a horrifying screeching sound. Once I arrived I explained everything and my car actually displayed the issue upon my arrival and was told it was odd, but yet again I have been told that they couldn’t replicate the issue. I just can’t understand how after seeing and hearing my vehicle there is nothing more that they can do to make sure there are no issues. Currently there are no recalls on my vehicle but I believe there should be further investigation into it as I am seeing many issues with the make, model and year I posses.

Bought this jeep from dealer Bourne car center, easton ma. jeep electric system malfunction with brakes frequently. Brakes gets locked up and car does not start. i bought this car 5 months before, this issue has happened 3 times already. concerned with brake issue. when jeep is moving, it works well.

ON N/B I5 BETWEEN ALBANY AND SALEM OREGON, TRAVELING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 73MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN ABRUPTLY BRAKING ON IT'S OWN. IN A MATTER OF SECONDS THE VEHICLE WENT FROM 73MPH TO APPROXIMATELY 45MPH, AND HARD/FAST ENOUGH TO LOCK THE SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY, TURNED BACK ON/OFF AGAIN, AND DRIVEN TO THE DESTINATION WITHOUT ISSUES. LUCKILY THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT ABOUT 430AM AND THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC. HAD THERE BEEN TRAFFIC A COLLISION WOULD'VE BEEN IMMINENT AND UNAVOIDABLE.

HAND BRAKE, PART # 6MF41LXH-AA, SWITCH BR 08058060, DUE TO VEHICLE DESIGN AND BEING ACCEPTABLE TO UNDERNEATH RAIN WATER, PUDDLES, SLUSSHES, BUT NO HIGH WATERS OR FLOODS, WHEN ENGAGED IN PARK WILL NOT DISENGAGE,AND NOT MOVABLE, AND MUST BE TRANSPORTED TO BE FACTORY OR DEALER REPAIRED/ REPLACEED AT A HIGH OWNER EXPENSE PLUS THE INCONVIENCE OF NOT HAVING USE OF THE JEEP.

I STARTED MY CAR LIKE NORMAL AND REVERSED AND DROVE FORWARD DOWN STREET. I NOTICED THE CAR KEPT MAKING JOLTING MOTIONS. I CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND AS I BEGAN TO TAKE OFF AND WAS IN THE ROADWAY THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED AND THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS LOCKED UP AND THE CAR SLOWLY CAME TO A STOP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED TO DISENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE. IT TURNED OFF BUT THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS WERE STILL JAMMED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A MINUTE AND PRESSED THE POWER BUTTON TO TRY AND RESTART THE CAR. IT STARTED MAKING A NOISE AS IF THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND SHUT BACK OFF. I LET IT SIT FOR A BIT LONGER AND TRIED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT DID THE SAME THING BUT EVENTUALLY TURNED ON. I THEN PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND PROCEEDED TO PRESS ON THE GAS TO SEE IF IT WOULD MOVE FORWARD. IT DID BUT HAPPENED AGAIN AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION I HAD TO STOP AT. EVERY TIME THIS WOULD OCCUR IT WOULD NUDGE FORWARD JUST ENOUGH FOR ME TO BE IN THE INTERSECTION AND IT WOULD TAKE A COUPLE TRIES TO GET THE CAR TO RESTART IN ORDER TO MOVE. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED AND FINALLY A LIGHT POPPED UP THAT SAID "OIL PRESSURE LOW" SO I CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS JUST ABOUT EMPTY. I HAD JUST HAD THE OIL THE OIL CHANGED A COUPLE WEEKS BEFORE SO THE OIL SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANYWHERE NEAR EMPTY. I REPLACED THE OIL AND THE PROBLEM STOPPED. I HAVE BEEN MAKING SURE TO CHECK OIL DAILY AND REPLACE AS NEEDED BUT NOW THE CAR IS JITTERY AT TIMES.

WEEK LATER TODAY PULLED UP TO RED LIGHT PARKING BRAKE CAME ON VEHICLE STALLED TOOK A WHILE TO RESTART . I AM FEARFUL OF GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. TAKING TO DEALERSHIP ON TUESDAY DEC.15 2020.

I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, LGHT TURNED GREEN AND WENT TO PRESS THE GAS TO GO THRU THE LIGHT BUT CAR STALLED AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST RAN INTO ME AND HAD TO SWERVE TO MISS ME. I HAD TO TURN THE ENTIRE CAR OFF AT THE LIGHT, PUSH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM A FEW TIMES UNTIL TGE LIGHT WENT OFF BEFORE I COULD PROCEED THROUGH THE LIGHT. THIS HAPPENED 6-7 ADDITIONAL TIMES BEFORE I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALORSHIP SERVICED THE CAR 1 WEEK PRIOR AND SAID NOTING WAS FOUND ON THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. CAR HAS STOPPED, JUST QUIT WHILE DRIVING AND BRAKING SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON. IT HAPPENS WHEN PARKED AND AT A RED LIGHT OR TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD OR WHILE DRIVING. VERY SCARY.

AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOP SIGN, I STARTED TO TURN LEFT AND MY EMERGENCY BREAK ENGAGED, CAR STALLED, WOULD NOT START, ADVISERS ME TO PUT IN PARK AND HIT START/STOP BUTTON. I DID SO AND THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD PRESSURE BENEATH IT WHERE I COULD NOT BRAKE AND BEGAN TO ROLL BACK NEARLY HITTING CAR BEHIND ME. FOR 5-10 MINUTES CAR WAS STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROA. TURNED CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND ENGINE LIGHT AND RED LIGHTING LIGHTS CAME ON. AFTER MY TOOLE ATTEMPTS TO RESTART CAR AND DISENGAGE EMERGENCY BRAKE, CAR STARTED AND COULD DRIVE MYSELF BACK HOME. I'M HESISTANT TO EVEN TAKE THE CAR IN, BECAUSE I'VE READ OF MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS OCCURRING TO OTHER DRIVERS WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I DON'T FEEL SAFE WITH THE CAR LOCKING UP AND FAILING TO WHERE I CAN EVEN BRAKE OR PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

IN APRIL WE STARTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 10,870 MILES ON IT AND DISCOVERED SERIOUS PULSATING WHEN BRAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND DANGEROUS VIBRATION IN THE BRAKING ALTOGETHER. LIVONIA CHRYSLER JEEP SERVICE PERSON DROVE THE JEEP AND DETERMINED WARPED ROTORS.WOULD NOT REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. CAR SITS MONTH AFTER MONTH UNABLE TO DRIVE WHILE PAYING LEASE PAYMENTS ON THE CAR.TOOK THE CAR TO SNETHCAMP TODAY 10-12-20 FOR AN APPOINTMENT SET UP BY KRIS IN JEEP CUSTOMER CARE. DEALERSHIP WILL NOT LOOK AT THE JEEP UNLESS I AGREE TO A $65.00 INSPECTION FEE. I REFUSE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR A DEFECTIVE LEASE VEHICLE REPAIR. THE JEEP IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP AND SO FAR NO RESOLUTION THROUGH CUSTOMER CARE AT FCA HAS OCCURRED. NO ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES OCCURRED BEFORE THE VEHICLE SAT FOR APPROX. 4 WEEKS. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD WARPED ROTORS DUE TO NON USE OF THE VEHICLE BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PERSON LEASING THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 10,870 MILE ON IT?SO FAR I HAVE MADE 7 PAYMENTS AND INSURANCE COSTS PER MONTH ON A VEHICLE FOR 7 MONTHS THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO INFERIOR MANUFACTURER PARTS. HELP!!!!

SINCE A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE I BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER FIXING VEHICLE IN EVERYTHING. CAR HAS BEEN THROUGH NEW ENGINE NEW RADIO NEW 4 SET OF TIRES NEW STEERING RACK NEW BRAKES NEW ROTORS NEW LUG NUTS ETC I HAVE ALL MY PAPERWORK

STARTING ABOUT 4-5 MONTHS AGO, WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR TAKING OFF FROM A STOP (COULD BE A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN) THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD ACTIVATE ON ITS OWN, MAKING THE CAR STALL. SOMETIMES I CAN MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OTHER TIMES IT STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THIS WOULD OCCUR ABOUT ONCE A MONTH RANGING FROM 5MPH TO 15MPH. STARTED AT ABOUT 34K MILES. TAKES ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES TO GET PARKING BRAKE TO GO OFF AND GET THE CAR RUNNING AGAIN. NOW JUST OVER 50K MILES IT HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK. FIRST TIME WAS TURNING LEFT AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION, PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATED MID TURN AND THE CAR STALLED, LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO ROLL TO THE OTHER SIDE AND MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER. THEN IT HAPPENED THE NEXT DAY COMING UP TO A MAJOR INTERSECTION AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP. PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATED, CAR STALLED, GOT A TRANSMISSION WARNING THEN A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I WAS STALLED AT THE LIGHT FOR APPROX. 5 MINUTES BEFORE GETTING THE PARKING BRAKE TO TURN OFF AND THE CAR TO START. IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALER (CRESTVIEW FL DOGE JEEP RAM) AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING IT IN. DROPPED THE CAR OFF THAT EVENING. WAS ADVISED THE NEXT DAY MY OIL LEVEL WAS LOW AND THIS CAUSED EVERYTHING TO HAPPEN, BUT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATING ON ITS OWN. ADVISED TO BRING BACK IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. OCCURRED AGAIN DRIVING DOWN A SIDE ROAD AT ABOUT 20MPH 3 DAYS AFTER BEING AT THE DEALERSHIP. CAR IS SET TO GO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. HAVE ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH JEEP, CURRENTLY WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. I'M SCARED FOR MY FAMILY/MYSELF/OTHERS ARE GOING TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN THIS OCCURS AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED. THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVING VEHICLE AND I DRIVE ABOUT 30 MILES ONE WAY TO WORK ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS.

1) THE JEEP COMPASS WAS TRAVELING IN MOTION ON A FARM TO MARKET ROAD AND STALLED. IT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. NO STEERING, NO BRAKING. COMPLETE FAILURE. NO WAY TO SIGNAL OR LET OTHERS TRAVELING DOWN THE SAME HIGHWAY THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STALLED. 2) THE HOOD HAS POPPED OPEN WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY. 3) ALL THE ALARMS IN THE VEHICLE HAVE GONE OFF WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD. 4) THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT AND ALARM HAS GONE OFF WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD. 5) SETTINGS, SUCH AS PARK BRAKE AND RADIO, HAVE CHANGED INDISCRIMINATELY. **BY FAR, THE MOST SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM IS THE VEHICLE STALLING WHEN IN MOTION. THEN, IT WAS HARD TO RESTART, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!!**

I HAVE HAD THE CAR A YEAR AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE RANDOMLY COMES ON BY ITSELF WITHOUT HAVING TO PUSH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BUTTON. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN IN REVERSE OR JUST CRANKING THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE HAS ALSO RANDOMLY SHUT UP, AND CAR HAS JOLTED IN THE PAST A FEW TIMES CREATING A MAJOR PROBLEM AND HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WHILE DRIVING. MY VEHICLES TRANSMISSION, BEGINNING AT 30,000 MILES, STARTED TO LOCK UP. THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS BOTH ACTIVATED. THIS ONLY OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND IDLED. I HAD TO PRESS GAS TURN VEHICLE OFF FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND RESTART TO RESET THE TRANSMISSION ICON. THE SAME LOCK UP STARTED TO HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AFTER I PASSED THE 36,000 MILES MARK. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY USING CRUISE CONTROL AND THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP AND STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE SO I HAD TO PUT MY HAZARDS AND PULL OVER. THIS HAPPENS VERY OFTEN NOW. AUTOZONE STATES THE CODE POPS UP WITH U1428. I THEN START TO HAVE START UP ISSUES AT 50,000 MILES. THE START/STOP SYSTEM IS UNAVAILABLE AND THE LIGHT REFLECT 'A!' HAS BEEN ACTIVARE SINCE. THIS HAS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO GET REALLY HOT. CONSTANT OIL BURNING. AND GAS BURNING. WHEN AUTOZONE CHECK CODE IT POPPED UP P1DD2 (WITH NO DESCRIPTION OF WHAT THE CODE WAS CAUSED BY). THE VEHICLE ELECTRICAL IS NOT STABLE. IN MULTIPLE INSTANCES MY VEHICLE LIGHTS AND POWER HAVE GONE IN AND OUT WHILE IDLE AND DRIVING. IT SLOWS DOWN MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY. I HAVE HEARD A LOT ABOUT TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE ISSUES WITH THE NEWER JEEPS BUT I DIDN'T THINK THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO ME. I DON'T THINK MY VEHICLE IS SAFE AND WOULD LIKE A MORE PROFESSIONAL INPUT SINCE THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM IS NEVER AVAILABLE TO ASSIST.

BRAKES ARE BAD, HAVE BEEN SINCE WE GOT IT. THEY LOCK UP WHEN U HIT THE BRAKES. SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH IT WHEN I DROVE IT ON THE LOT. SOMETHING RATTLEING IN THE FRONT END. THEY STOPPED THE RATTLE BUT BRAKES ARE A HUGE ISSUE. NO MATTER HOW LIGHT YOU TAP THEM THEY LOCK UP. WHEN THEY ARE WET IT IS UNDRIVABLE. ALSO ENGINE REVS UP FOR NO REASON AND THE ENGINE KILL THING DOES NOT WORK RIGHT. ITS NOT INSTANTANEOUS. LOTS OF LAG BEFORE YOU CAN MOVE.. WE HAVE BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER RIGHT AFTER WE BOUGHT IT TO TRY TO TRADE IT FOR ANOTHER ONE BUT NO LUCK. I SHOULD HAVE WALKED AWAY WHEN IT WAS MAKING THE NOISE WHEN I MOVED IT ON THE LOT. SPECIALLY AFTER THE WAY WE WERE TREATED BY THE GUY WHO DID THE PAPERWORK WHEN WE DECLINED THE EXTRA WARRANTY. IF HE HADNT BEEN A VET I WOULDVE WALKED AWAY. THE DEALER HAS RECORDS OF REPAIRS THEY TRIED TO MAKE.THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN BAD SINCE WE BOUGHT IT AND THE REST HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A COULPA MONTHS NOW.

THE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR THE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SERVICE. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT OFF THE BRAKE STILL WITH THE SERVICE LIGHTS ON. I WAS GOING TO SHIFT IT INTO DRIVE WHEN IT MADE A STRONG POPPING AND SCREECHING SOUND ON THE TRANSMISSION WHEN PLACED ON REVERSE. I MOVED IT TO DRIVE AND IT DID THE SAMETHING. I TRIED GIVING IT GAS AND THE D FOR DRIVE WOULD JUST BLINK AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. I WAITED 30 MINUTES AND TRIED MOVING IT BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. I SWITCHED THE GEAR FROM PARKING TO DRIVE HEARING THE POPPING SOUND AS I SHIFTED FROM THE P R N D. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR 10-15 MINUTES AND THE TRANSMISSION STARTED HEATING UP FROM 180F TO 192F. WHILE LEAVING THE VEHICLE STOPPED FOR A WHILE THE TRANSMISSION TEMP DID COOL OFF BUT I WILL HAVE IT SERVICED SINCE I AM STILL STOPPED AT THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY WHILE WRITING THIS.

IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THIS DEALERSHIP WAS NOT TRUTHFUL IN DISCLOSING THE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. WEB SHOWS SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING, WHY HAS THE NTHTSA NOT RECALLED THESE VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME SETUP. I BELIEVE IT'S TIMES THAT THIS CAR GETS REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER.

AT ABOUT 25 MPH THE BREAKS DIDN'T WORK WHEN APPLIED AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, SOME TIMES THE CAR SPEEDS UP EVEN WHEN GAS PEDAL IS NOT APPLIED, SOMETIMES WHEN I SHIFT TO DRIVE OR REVERSE THE D OR R INDICATOR FLASHING THEN I HAVE TO PARK AND TRY AGAIN.

TWO DAYS AGO, OCTOBER 10TH, WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT, WITH BRAKE DEPRESSED, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AND HIT A SIGN JUST MISSING A TREE. THE PASSENGER FRONT RIGHT SIDE, DOOR, BACK DOOR, AND REARVIEW MIRROR WERE DAMAGED. THIS WAS THE SECOND INCIDENT. VERY SCARY AND LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT.
