The odometer cluster light is too dim and I can't see it during the daytime
I found a bolt head and a washer laying on my garage floor. After looking under the vehicle, it broke off from where the right side front cross member mounts to the bracket that attaches to the vehicle body. I took the vehicle to the dealer, they said the bolt was on back order and had no time frame when it would be available. They said that the vehicle was safe to drive because there were five other bolts holding it to the body. The dealer kept the bolt head and washer.
My 2022 Jeep Compass has been experiencing engine stalling/shutting off and problems with surging or jerking and cutting off. Surging forward when coming off the brake. Engine shutting down while stopped or at low speeds, at stop signs, or traffic lights. Jerking sensation, when slowing down or accelerating at low speeds. Me and my passengers have been at risk on several occasions of being rear ended or other collisions. I have ask the dealers (Sons Chrysler Jeep) service department to look at this issue on several occasions but they have said they cannot find any issues. My vehicle is currently at the dealer for this issue as it stopped 3 times in the past 2 days.
I BOUGHT MY JEEP COMPASS LATITUDE 2022 BRAND NEW FOR A DEALERSHIP IN NOVEMBER OF 2021. SINCE THEN MY RANDOM DASHBOARD LIGHTS HAVE COME ON AND OFF, THE CALL HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES ALL RELATING SUPPOSELY TO THE BATTERIES GOING BAD. I HAD BOTH BATTERIES CHANGED LESS THAN 2 YEARS. I FEEL THERE IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED
WHEN I START THE CAR, THE STEERING WHELL IS FROZEN, WILLNOT MOVE AN THE GEAR SHIFT WILL MOVE BUT IT CAR WILL NOT MOVE,, AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF PULLING THE EMERCENCY BREAK AN TURNING IT OFF AND GOING THRU THE SHIFT PATTERN , THE CAR MAY MOVE,,,SOMETIMES I HAVE TO SHUT THE MOTOR OFF AN ON TO GET THE WHEEL UNFROZEN AND THE GEARS TO WORK.... HAVE OWNED THE CAR 3 MONTHS AN THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES.... AT THIS TIME THE CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR, HOWEVER THEY CAN NOT GET THE CAR TO DO THE SAME THING FOR THEM, SO THEY DO NOT KNOW THAT TO FIX..THEY ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON...BEING REAL HELPFUL,,BUT CAN NOT FIX A PROBLEM THEY CAN NOT FIND.
Aggressive premature tire wear on the inner section of the tire tread on a 2022 Jeep Compass (purchased December 2022). Mostly on the front tires, similar slight evidence on rear tires. Alignment was investigated in March 2025 by commercial repair service center (not dealership). Alignment is within factory specifications. Service manager only recommended replacing the front two tires, as there was nothing they could do for the alignment - pictures attached of front tires. Back tires were rotated to front position with new tires mounted in the rear. Five months later front tires now need replaced with mileage at approximately 28,000 miles. Internet search for similar issue has overwhelming number of complaints documented by other owners across the U.S. and Canada. All complaining of replacing tires due to perceived alignment issues from the manufacturer.

Turn signal does not cancel. Intermittent problem that occurs infrequently. Safety concern because turn signal may signal for one direction when driving the car to the opposite direction. I am reluctant to pay about $250 to dealer to diagnoise because issue is intermittent. Dealer refuses to note complaint on customer records without diagnosis. I called customer care and reported issue, 4/15/25 case # 92675100. Customer care requested to have dealer diagnose, but I explained that issue is intermittent and difficult to reproduce.
The auto stop has stopped my vehicle at a light and failed to start back up. On several occasions I have been at a red light, and my car refused to take off, like it is just stuck. I have to put the car in park and restart. The auto stop is very dangerous, I have to turn it off when I get in my car. ( I have to warn family when they are using my car) A few times I have forgotten. I have taken my car to 3 jeep dealerships and they say they cant find a problem. They is an issue and no one is hearing me.
The only way to adjust the advanced driver assistance systems (ADSA) in my 2022 compass is VIA a defective radio that continually resets as per Mopar Case number [XXX] from August 2023. according to the bulletin this was supposed to have been fixed via a software update in the 4th quarter of 2023. repeated calls to the mopar wave 800-334-9200 only to be disconnected as soon as i give them the case number 4 times today. The start/stop has been an ongoing issue for awhile now. It's been to the dealer multiple times for this issue. The vehicle will sometimes just stop while moving or will not start at a light. Each time requires the vehicle being placed in park, turning off the vehicle, restarting the vehicle, and releasing the parking brake and finally shifting into gear. This is dangerous to have this happening in traffic. Jeep seems to not care about these concerns.
I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with my 2022 Jeep Compass. I purchased my Jeep Feb 2023. In May 2024 my issues started and have not stopped or been able to be diagnosed by 2 different dealers after 4 times of them having my car. My check engine light started and then the non stop issues with the center screen and dashboard flashing on and off. The screens change showing all errors and warnings.c The radio shuts off whenever it wants. Now the car shuts off when it wants. First time I was at a stop sign, it turned off and would not go back on for almost 2 minutes. The 2nd time I was yielding and it shut down. I had to put the car in park and hit the ignition button a few times before it started. On 1 visit I was told that the mechanic did a computer update but I had to let him take it home that night. When I refused I was told to come get it and they didn't touch it. On the last visit which was 10 days I was told there is nothing wrong with my car. Jeep called me 2 days later and stated "maybe they would give me a small discount for a new one" As a loyal Jeep customer, I expect better service and prompt resolution of the significant safety issues.
Hello I have had my vehicle for 2 yrs and out of the 2yrs my car has stalled mid traffic at least 10 times. I come to a complete stop at at a red light then when the light turns green I take my foot off the break to give it gas and the truck emergency brake light come on and the car shuts down now I’m in mid traffic praying to God that I don’t get rear ended cars are blowing at me my children are scared I’m scared I’m going to get rear ended and my babies an I will die! We are traumatized and I’ve taken my car to the dealership several times for this matter just for them to tell me they don’t know why this is happening. I pay almost 700$ for a vehicle that I’m scared will be the death of me and my family please please I beg of you help me as the dealership isn’t helping I’m so scared.
When first purchased it with in a month it had to go back in bc shifter service appeared. This has happened multiple times since with a month to several months between episodes but the hard shifting never stops and they say it’s just normal. The 4th oil change as usual I had them do oil and rotate tires and once again they said they adjusted the shifter and fixed a recall. I asked them to also check the tires bc everyone id make a sharp turn or anything I was getting some weird noises and also the steering wheel would jerk out almost out of my hand or shake. They said couldn’t find any issues (idk how they had time as it only took the time an oil change would) well a few weeks ago I had another dealership do my oil change and tire rotation my tires was on so tight it took them forever to get the tires rotated so they and I assumed that was the issues with the jerking and noise. Fast forward to this weekend [XXX) today. Steering wheel while traveling out of town begin to vibrate worse tire pressure was fine but it shift hard if I’d stop and get back in start again it be ok for a while. I got back home and put in park and the steering wheel was vibrating so bad the whole car was shaking. As if the transmission or caliper was stuck got it shut off let it sit for a few hours started it back it was ok but hard shift several times. First time was month into owning it last was yesterday [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
UKNOWN
At night the backup camera is extremely dark and very dangerous when backing up at night. I almost backed over my son who was walking behind my car. It's way too difficult to see. The dealership said everything is to spec. I've seen many online complaints about this.
When the sun is out it makes a really bad light reflection on the center consol display border, the shifter and shifter cover. Since it’s made of gloss materials it reflects In your eyes causing loss of sight because of the light reflection. This beams sun light right into the drivers eyes.
3 weeks after I got my 2022 Jeep compass, I noticed I couldn’t see how fast I was going, if I need gas, or anything on the cluster steering panel (the part that tells you how much gas you have, and how fast you’re going) it’s been taken to Jeep 3 times, I’ve contacted Jeep themselves (corporate) I’ve been told my VIN has no recall but the dealership indicates I’m having the ambient sensor issue (but only 90 cars have recall on it) Basically the cluster light display is very dim in the day light. This is a hazard and unsafe due to the fact that I can’t see how fast I’m going, I can’t see when I need gas. I’ve been told the parts can’t be ordered until my car is on the recall list. It’s getting frustrating to have a brand new car with this not working, and it’s very unsafe. I could run out of gas and not even know, I could get a speeding ticket or in an accident. It’s not fair.
The digital dashboard display appears dim appears dim during the day. It is as if the display is stuck in night mode, so you cannot see the digital speedometer, or any warnings such as gas, temperature, tires, etc. Brought to the dealer twice and was told there is no fix and engineering is working on a resolution.
- Unsure what is failing. With increasing frequency, 22 Jeep Compass Sport repeatedly stalls (1+ time every few months since OCT ’22) when trying to accelerate after stopping, always (except for one time) engaging auto ebrake, and always requiring a shift to park and engine restart. Engine shuts off, but malfunction is likely related to auto start, as it hasn’t occurred when auto start is already pressed off. Latest failure 28JUN at stop sign near home after a 20-second stop, and auto start turn-off failed after restart. This instance is notable in that: this problem is increasing in frequency, duration of stop was short (unlike usual at 1-3 minute stoplights), this occurs whether or not engine was running long beforehand, and is first time the auto start off-button failed. This is also the shortest interval in between instances, as it occurred last week. Available to inspect. -Safety concerns: always occurs in heavy traffic, always during required acceleration, potentially leading to collision at light/in intersection; always antagonizes other drivers. Has not occurred at high speeds (yet), but have read online claims of similar occurrences in Jeeps at highway speeds, risking fatality. -Dealer service was unable to replicate. Dealer was not denying, but unable to diagnose without replication. No codes indicate problem. Personally was only able to replicate once when deliberately trying in empty parking lot. Reported to Jeep in JAN ‘23, then to dealer service at time of diagnostics. -Problem has only been checked by local dealer service. No crashes (yet) so no police or insurance. -Unlike other reports, no warnings prior to failure for me, only “ebrake on” light after failure. -Jeep fanboy forums say cause is low fluids. Wrong, but even if true no car should shut down and endanger lives when brake fluid or even oil is a little low. New cars leaking like sieves would also be yet another Jeep-centric problem. Wife and I know how to drive and check fluids.
Car stalled out in the middle of the road out of nowhere. The car was on, but the gas stopped working. The emergency parking light turned on as well as the check engine light. I was finally able to move the clutch into neutral and someone stopped to help me push my car to the side of the road. The gas never started working again so I had to get a tow to the dealership. This was extremely dangerous as I was blocking a busy lane of traffic, and had just gotten off of the highway 2 minutes prior!
The vehicle makes these noises at times. Seems like the brakes at times then it drives ok. Took it in to the dealership they say nothing is wrong with the vehicle. Went to pick up my daughter. Had music on inside the SUV couldn’t hear the noise seems like. She said, the vehicle was sounding loud before I pulled up to get her. I observed the sounds from underneath the vehicle a week after I purchased the vehicle. Each time I take it back to the dealer. No sounds. I’m afraid to drive this vehicle. They think I’m lying at the dealership. I’ve been to the dealership for the headrest twice and the sounds. The warnings are not that great on the vehicle either. They work sometimes.
I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with my 2022 Jeep Compass. In November 2022, both the center digital cluster screen and radio screen went dim and have not returned to full brightness since. I have already taken the car to the dealer twice, but they have not been able to resolve the issue, and have advised me to wait for a recall. I am extremely dissatisfied with this response, as I am unable to view the screens during the daytime, which poses a significant safety concern for me and my passengers. It is unacceptable that a vehicle that is barely a year old is experiencing such a significant issue. I strongly urge Jeep to take immediate action to rectify this problem. I have already spent considerable time and money taking my car to the dealership, and the issue has not been resolved. As a loyal Jeep customer, I expect better service and prompt resolution of this issue.
Both the center digital cluster screen as well as the center radio screen have gone dim back in November 2022 and have not come back to normal brightness since. Both are not able to be seen during the daytime hours. I have had my vehicle at my local dealership twice and was told to wait for a recall and that there was nothing they can do. I cannot see my gas milage or gage during the daytime. I cannot view the digital speedometer during the day time either. I am at a loss on what to do with this issue. Jeep has provided no fixes. This is a safety issue especially during the day time. I cannot see my screens!
CENTER CLUSTER ON DASH (FUEL LEVEL, ECO SAVE METER, ETC.) IS STUCK IN NIGHT TIME MODE. I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING TO RESET SO I CAN SEE MY DASH DURNING THE DAY. ITS SO DARK THAT I RAN OUT OF GAS DURING THE DAY BECUASE I COULD SEE MY FUEL LEVEL! DEALERSHIP WANTS MY VEHICLE FOR 5 DAYS TO FIGURE IT OUT AND THEY DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. FIX THIS PLEASE! IT STARTED A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. (9 MILES FIRST DRIVE, WENT DARK AROUND 3,000 MILES, STILL DARK AFTER 10,000 MILES) THIS IS VERY FRUSTATING WHEN YOU CANT SEE YOUR DASH!
Forward collision sensor kept turning itself off, now my vehicle is telling me to service my headlights, 4WD, airbags and other sensors. Vehicle has also turned off while driving and deployed the AEB when driving. Have taken it to the dealership twice. Dealer contacted the manufacture which they were unable to determine the issue.
The vehicle was stopped at a light and the car shut off by itself. The electrical stayed on, but I had to put the vehicle in park, restart the car, and turn off the emergency brake that turned itself on. This incident happened twice so far for a 2022 compass bought in May 2022. The first time was around 3,000 miles in November 2022. The second time was around 9,300 miles on 03/05/23. Each time the vehicle almost caused an accident when the Jeep was stuck on a busy ramp. Will be booking an appointment with the dealership to have this documented.
I came to a stop at a red light. My auto start/stop turned off the vehicle as it normally does. I was making a right turn at a red light after yielding to oncoming cars. When I took my foot off the brake the car struggled to restart but did start moving forward slightly so I was moving into the intersection and into a traffic lane. The car shut off immediately again and the emergency brake turned on. I did not see any signals or warning symbols flash up. I was finally able to get my car to restart after turning it off completely and then back on again. Because when the car didn’t restart it had moved up slightly I was in the way of traffic and completely stopped where I could have been hit by another vehicle. I also could have been rear ended as the cars behind me expected me to move forward and my car suddenly shut off and would not drive. It seemed as though it stalled but I am unsure which system failed to cause this but it put me in a very dangerous situation.
2 issues 1 - false positive AEB while driving with no obstacles around on a rural road (speed and mileage below) 2 - backup camera delays, sometimes well into a reverse drive
The vehicle kept telling me that stop start is unavailable service stop start then there would be a battery on the left side on dashboard showing. Then it would say stop safety vehicle will shut off soon. Called both dealerships by my house to see if I can get the vehicle serviced one of the advisers told me the vehicle would not shut down that it would be okay to drive out of town. Brought my jeep into another dealership and their adviser told me the same thing. Last night 12/25 I was able to pull my car into a neighborhood before my vehicle completely shutdown I had it towed to my house.
The infotainment systems volume fades to the point where nothing can be heard. This impacts: radio, but also Android Auto/Apple Car play for audio alerts, jeep assistance and hands free call functionality. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they confirmed Jeep knows about the issue and it will require a software update - TBD. Meanwhile, my new vehicle is useless for any kind of audio functionality. This is a distraction while driving and poses safety concerns.
Digital display in the center instrument panel can't be seen in daylight. There was not a ambient light sensor input to control the display backlighting for daylight. This missing sensor causes digital display to default to night. So you are unable to see any warnings, gas, temp, menu, cruise control, etc. This display is also tied to the 7" screen and it causes that screen to not be programmable as well. S2208000157 has no replacement part, no remedy. I am driving a unsafe, defective vehicle that can not be repaired. This is documented in the letter I was given by the Service department at Jeep in Foley AL. Jeep Service, Jeep Wave, BBB, lemon law attorneys all say this needs to be resolved by the dealership. They aren't doing anything and consumers need to be aware. I have a video of the screen but it will not upload.mov
Shuts off at random and you have to go back into the system setting to turn back on. Has happened twice in the two weeks I have had the vehicle.
Back up camera screen totally black when trying to back up at night.
