Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch to Italian along with cluster and radio display settings reverting to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. change to metric and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. The dealer charge me $300 diagnostic fee before resetting the software. Time goes by and it happens again. Dealer says there is nothing they can do and to wait for a software update from Stellantis, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, I can change "some" of the settings back but some items cannot be reset like the FCA off lamp and paddle shifters. Back to the dealer I go for another $300 charge. Here is an example Jeep forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/forward-collision-warning-off-light-is-stuck-on.250301/#replies From personal experience, all of these issues started several years ago with an over the air software. This is a well known and widespread problem, and there is even a DOT Bulletin on the issue: dot.report Bulletins Because this is dangerous (for settings/gauges/units to no longer be useful while driving), and it occurs randomly, I strongly believe this issue should be a manufacturer recall. I am available for any needs."

Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. Here is an example forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: [XXX] Many people on the forum believe this issue did not start until a software update a year or so ago. The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH on an interstate and depressing the brake pedal to avoid a crash, the automatic emergency braking system suddenly engaged, and the vehicle experienced a drivetrain failure. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the drive shaft, the transfer case, and the drivetrain control module had failed and needed to be replaced. The drive shaft was replaced, but additional repairs were needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but the case was closed, and the contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. I was idling at a light, which means the engine had auto-shut off. The light turned green and I stepped on the accelerator. Car kicked back on like normal and I got back up to speed ~45 mph. So now I'm about 1/4 mile past the light and I hear the engine kick off and lost all acceleration (everything else was normal). Warning popped up on the dash that "vehicle is not in park". I put on my hazards, braked to a stop, put the vehicle in park (nothing happened), hit the push button to turn the vehicle off, waited 2 seconds, hit the button again to turn it back on. It restarted.

My Jeep over the last year has automatically put itself into park while I’m driving down the highway! I’ve had near miss accidents due to this. No warning lights, no signs something is wrong. It just either slams itself into park and locks up, then won’t turn off. The last times without warning my engine shuts off, my screen pops up saying put into park to start engine and the vehicle puts itself into park automatically. It’s happens fast to! I was swerved by other drivers each time. Jeep will do NOTHING about this! My power steering goes out randomly also. This has happened more than once since the end of 2023! I’m now scared to drive it.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V436000 (Back Over Prevention); and was taken to the dealer to update the radio software. The contact stated that after the recall repair was performed, the Forward Collision Avoidance activation button was no longer displayed on the infotainment center. The Forward Collision Avoidance Off warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact informed the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer advised the contact to wait for a day; however, the failure persisted after the system reset. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,000.

The vehicle didn’t automatic update of its “UCONNECT” system without warning after stopping at a gas station. Once the vehicle was turned back on after the update was completed there was a light on my dashboard signaling that the forward collision warning system is off. Some other things happened as well such as all my settings were reverted back to factory settings, and the menu screen was in Italian. After online research, it seems that this is a very common problem with the specific model. I was able to revert everything except for the Ford Collision , warning, which still states that it is OFF, after the update. After communicating all this information with Jeep, they want me to pay for a repair that was due to their system update.

ABS , Traction Control, Power brake booster, AEB inoperative after routine brake pads/rotor service. Vehicle was put into service mode via touch screen radio, rear brake service performed. Upon initial brake pedal application, required to exit service mode for rear brakes, to return caliper piston contact to brake pad. The vehicle disables abs and supporting system and sets codes c0050 , c2227 . As a technician my opinion is the extra brake fluid required to take up open space after service is discharged via accumulator into the brake system with no resistance or pressure due to caliper pistons expanding to the brake pads. These faults render the power brake boost abs and multiple other safety systems inoperative until a dealer level scan tool can perform abs initialization, and a hydraulic prove out test, and clear all codes, even with all code cleared power brake boost was lack just at best on initial test drive after service. A basic routine service should not affect a vehicle as adversely as this. While dealers may know what's going on your independently run shops and DIYers may return unsafe vehicles to customers/owners. This is the 3rd vehicle I have personally experienced this with. I will up load separate reports with those vins accordingly.

While driving my kids home from the school the vehicle stark jerking and kicking in the back while I was accelerating. Then the vehicle stopped shifting gears. I pulled to the side of the road turned off the car, turned it back on and it worked fine. I have this incident twice in two years. Secondly the paddle shift gear showed as disabled when I want to use manual gear. Checked the dashboard and there is no option saying enabled or disable peddle Shift gear. Thirdly the forward collision warning light is on on the dashboard. From time to Time the vehicle stops abruptly.

Jeep recently pushed an update through the vehicle over the air. Since the update the forward collision disable warning light has been illuminated on the front cluster. All attempts to correct the issue have rendered useless. The update has caused the safety feature of the front collision warning (sound and/or breaking) inoperable.

December 2021 about 2 months after purchasing, traction control, power steering light would intermittently turn on as well as the radio screen would flash black. All of these were separate problems and were not ways necessarily present when another light was on but they did occasionally all happen at the same time. Periodically, not every time when the light came there was the inability to turn the wheel. The length of time the light of inability to turn the wheel would vary sometimes the light would go away after turning the vehicle off and turning it back on while other times it was days. By the time a shop is able to get it in to be looked at the lights were off and not able to be recreated. It was at the dealership for a while and was told I could bring it home. I had concerns the and voiced them that although the light isn’t on now, what if it does turn on and I can’t turn the steering wheel while driving? It couldn’t be fixed if they didn’t know what was causing it. Eventually an ‘update’ was done and supposed to have fixed the problem. The radio still flashes a black screen periodically, the lights didn’t come on as frequent and the inability to turn the wheel went away. Until recently December 2024 intermittent lights that come on but do not stay on, check engine light, electric power steering, front collision (off) and traction control. These lights have come on intermittently but do not stay on. I have had times where I was unable to turn the wheel, luckily not on the road, the vehicle has lost traction while driving in the snow over the winter and has occasionally felt like the vehicle was ‘chugging’ down the road. Now the symptoms are not present every time a light turns on sometimes it runs fine. The length of time the lights stay on vary and again by the time I can get an appt the lights are off and the lights do not always come on at the same time as another. So the issue occurring with hardly any miles and no again with about 50k mils.

The forward collision warning light came on and will not go off. I have had the sensors tested for recalibration and the test showed that the sensors are working. Light is still on. MOPAR is aware of this issue as there are dozens of complaints in online forums and a STAR online publication has been published by MOPAR Case number:S2108000249

The car updated itself and now my front collision warning light is on, I have tried to reset everything but still on. The update caused the warning light.
