THE INSPECTION RECALL ON MY 1996 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DID NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH PCM AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER SPECIFIED IN THE DEFECTIVE ISSUE WITHIN THE RECALLS ISSUED. THIS HARMS THE DRIVER, PEDESTRIANS, OTHER PASSENGERS AND MOTORISTS. THE TECH WHERE I WENT TO HAVE RECALL WORK PERFORMED ORDERED PARTS (SEE ATTACHMENT), BUT NOTHING WAS INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE. ONLY "INSPECTED." THE TECH WAS TOLD OF DETAILED POOR PERFORMANCE AND SYMPTOMS OF A BAD PCM. SUCH AS SHIFTING, STALLING, FUEL ECONOMY & HARD TO START. THE JEEP IS NOT OPERATING OPTIMALLY & THIS COULD MEAN THERE ARE. OTHER PROBLEMS BETWEEN DIFFERENT SYSTEMS. ALL OF THESE ARE INDICATIONS OF A FAULTY PCM. AS WELL AS THE ABS LIGHT BEING ON THE DASHBOARD. THE PCM IS A "CRITICAL" SYSTEM & NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I'M REQUESTING THAT YOU FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR FREE, AS IT IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD MINGLE WITH OTHER SYSTEMS AND CAUSE A COMPLETE VEHICLE BREAK DOWN. OR REFUND THE COST TO ME IN FULL, INCLUDING LABOR CHARGES, IF I REPLACE/REPAIR MYSELF. IF THIS DEFECTIVE PART IS NOT FIXED, IT COULD RESULT IN PROPERTY DAMAGE, IN WHICH CDJ WOULD BE LIABLE FOR. PLEASE ADVISE AS TO HOW YOU CAN HELP ENFORCE THE MANUFACTURE TO FULLY REPAIR THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS & REMEDY THIS PROBLEM ON FIXING THE FAULTY PCM & CATALYTIC CONVERTER WITHIN A RECALL AND POSSIBLY THE ABS SYSTEM AND TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE STALLS ON HIGHWAY, IN PARK, ON THE STREET, WHEN STOPPED AND THEN IT STALLS OUT AND IS HARD TO START. IT ALSO HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO GO IN REVERSE ( BACK UP). WHICH MEAN IT'S NOT GETTING PROPER LUBRICATION. ALSO, THE ALARM GOES OFF WHEN USING KEY TO GAIN ACCESS. UNHOOKING BATTERY TO RESET DOES NOT HELP.
IN DECEMBER 1996 I WAS RAN OVER BY MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN MY DRIVEWAY AFTER IT JUMPED BACK INTO GEAR FROM PARK. I REPORTED THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY TO THE ANCHORAGE ALASKA DEALER WHO HAD TO FIX THE DRIVERS DOOR THAT HAD BEEN DESTROYED IN THE EVENT AND HE STATED THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE GEARSHIFT. I HAD ALSO REPORTED THE ISSUE HERE ON THE NHTSA WEB SITE IN JANUARY OF 1997. I WAS TAKEN TO THE AIR FORCE HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM AT ELEMENDORF AFB ALASKA AND I BELIEVE SUBMITTED THAT INFORMATION AT THAT TIME. SO THIS RECENT PROBLEM WITH AN ACTOR BEING KILLED BY HIS JEEP IS NOT A NEW ISSUE. THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE DRIVE TRAIN AS FAR BACK AS 1996. WHEN I WAS RAN OVER MY JEEP WAS IN PARK RUNNING IN MY GARAGE. IT DRUG ME BACKWARD INTO THE DRIVEWAY WHERE I SLIPPED ON THE ICE FELL UNDER THE CAR AND MY LEFT LOWER LEG WAS RAN OVER BY THE FRONT TIRE. I STILL HAVE COMPLICATIONS FROM THAT INCIDENT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. I CALLED JEEP TODAY AT 1-877-426-5337 AND WAS TOLD THE PHONE NUMBER OF A JEEP DEALER, ALONG WITH SINCERE APOLOGIES THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE SOLUTION MAY BE THAT 2 SCREWS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PCM ARE TOO LONG. PEOPLE HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FIXING EVERYTHING ON THESE JEEPS BUT NOTHING HAS WORKED. NOT SURE HOW IT WORKS BUT YOU GET MY DRIFT. SINCE SIGNING UP WITH CNET.COM, HAVE FOUND MANY PEOPLE ACROSS AMERICA WITH THE SAME ISSUE ON JEEP WITH DIFFERENT YEARS (1994/2000) AND MODELS. TO SEARCH... LOOK UP JEEP STALLS OR JEEP FIXED AND YOU WILL SEE OTHER TOPICS AND FORUMS AROUND THAT TOPIC AND YOU WILL ALSO SEE WHERE THE MANUFACTURE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM EITHER. ANOTHER POSSIBLE RECALL ISSUE IS THE SCREWS THAT HOLD THE PCM MIGHT BE TOO LONG AND ARE GROUNDING OUT THE UNIT AFTER PAINT WEARS OFF ON FIREWALL... IMPORTANT TO READ ALL ARTICLES AND DIFFERENT FORUMS!!! ... IS A MUST LASTLY... INSTEAD OF REPLACING PCM'S, IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE THE PCM RE FLASHED UNDER RECALL??? THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALER AND THE PART WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FLOOR SHIFT DID NOT FEEL RIGHT AFTER THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, WHO CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE DEALER AGAIN STATED THAT THIS WAS THE WAY IT FELT AFTER THE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT HAD BEEN REPLACED. *AK *SCC *JB
AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE TRANSMISSION WOULD START TO SLIP. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE TO A HIGHER SPEED THAN THE REQUIRED SPEED. *NLM
OWNER OF 1996 JEEP CHEROKEE - PROBLEMS WITH TRANSFER CASE BEGAN IN 1998-1999, AT 50, 000 MILES. TRANSFER CASE HAS BEEN REPLACED AND REBUILT ON 3 OCCASIONS. FEB 25, 2003 TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP - SAME PROBLEM, NEED TO REPLACE TRANSFER CASE AGAIN. HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT ONCE OUR WARRANTY EXPIRES, THEY WILL NOT WARRANTY THE TRANSFER CASE REPLACEMENT. WILL BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE DETAILS AND RECORDS OF OVER 17 REPAIRS TO THIS VEHICLE. AFTER SECOND TRANSFER CASE REPLACEMENT CONTACTED CHRYSLER BECAUSE WE FELT THIS WAS A DEFECTIVE PART. EACH TIME IT IS REPLACED OR REPAIRED, THE REPAIR DOES NOT LAST. DAIMLER CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE REFUSED TO MEET WITH US TO REVIEW PROBLEMS. *NLM

CONSUMER HAS TO IDLE VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES BEFORE DRIVING IN ORDER TO GET THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO FLOW THROUGH THE GEARS. IF NOT, VEHICLE SHIFTS GEARS EXCESSIVELY ROUGH AND "DROPS" FROM 1ST INTO 2ND GEAR. PH

I FEEL THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE AND I HAVE THREE CHILDREN AND CAN NOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR TO KEEP MY CHILDREN SAFE. I HOPE THAT YOU CAN PLEASE HELP.

THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO GO IN REVERSE UNTIL THE DOOR WAS BENT ALL THE WAY BACK. SOMETHING GOT WEDGED UNDER THE VEHICLE, STOPPING IT FROM GOING ANY FURTHER, ALTHOUGH THE WHEELS WERE STILL TURNING. UNABLE TO FREE HER LEG, SHE STARTED SCREAMING FOR HELP. A NEIGHBOR CAME TO THE RESCUE, CONFIRMING THAT THE SHIFT LEVER WAS INDEED IN THE "PARK" POSITION. THE VEHICLE HAS HENCE BEEN NAMED "CHRISTINE". THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
I HAVE EXPERIENCED TWO INCIDENTS IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS INVOLVING MY PLACING THE VEHICLE INTO "PARK" AND HAVING THE VEHICLE MOVE IN REVERSE WHILE IDLING. THERE IS ALSO A FREQUENT LOCKING OF THE SHIFT MECHANISM AFTER SITTING FOR PERIODS. THE SHIFTER BECOMES LOCKED IN THE "PARK" POSITION AND I MUST USE FORCE TO REMOVE THE SHIFTER FROM THE "PARK" POSITION. THIS PRODUCES THE SOUND OF BREAKING PLASTIC ALTHOUGH I NOTICE NO OTHER ADVERSE AFFECTS TO THE SHIFTING. I HAD THOUGHT ON BOTH OCCASSIONS WHEN THE CAR WENT INTO REVERSE ON ITS OWN THAT I HAD MERELY MISPLACED THE SHIFTER, BUT NOW I THINK NOT. THE DRIVER'S DOOR COULD NOT BE CLOSED, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START DUE TO HITTING THE LIGHT POLE WITH THE BUMPER THE COLLESION DEVICE WAS ACTIVATED. I WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM WITH DAMAGED NERVES AND TISSUE LUCKILY NO BROKEN BONES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE JEEP DEALER IN ANCHORAGE ALASKA WHERE THEY REPLACED SOME PARTS AND FIXED THE DOOR. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER ALSO STATED THAT HE COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO STAY IN PARK AND IT KEPT SHIFTING INTO REVERSE AND ROLLING BACK ON HIS TRUCK. HE EVIDENTUALLY GOT IT TO STICK SO HE COULD TOW IT.*AK

MY WIFE WAS GOING TO WORK ON 08/14/00. SHE WARMED THE JEEP UP, DROVE UP TO THE PORCH, LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING AND PLACED THE JEEP IN PARK. WHILE INSIDE THE HOUSE, SHE NOTICED THE JEEP SUDDENLY LURCHED AND STARTED MOVING BACKWARDS( THIS WAS ON A NONPAVED FLAT SURFACE). . SHE RAN OUT THE HOUSE TO TRY AND STOP IT, BUT TOO LATE. LUCKILY, IT DROVE THROUGH MY PUMP HOUSE IN THE BACK YARD. THE WHEELS ROLLED OVER A 4" HIGH CEMENT BASE WHICH LODGED THE WHEELS TO A STOP.. IT HAD SHOVED OUT THE DOOR AND SIDE OF A 10' X 10 ' SHED COVERING MY WATER PUMP. IT PUT A DENT IN MY REAR HATCH DOOR TOP AND BUSTED THE REAR LEFT TURN SIGNAL. I DID NOT REPORT IT TO POLICE BECAUSE IT WAS IN MY YARD AND IT DID NOT DAWN ON ME THE TRANSMISSION MAY HAVE JUMPED OUT OF PARK. HOWEVER, ON APPROXIMATELY APRIL 12,2001 I HAD PLACED IT IN PARK , WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, WHEN SUDDENLY IT JUMPED IN REVERSE WITH ME STILL SITTING IN THE SEAT. I IMMEDIATELY BRAKED AND AGAIN PLACED THE SHIFTER INTO PARK. NOTHING HAPPENED AGAIN, SO I JUST SHRUGGED IT OFF AS ONE OF THOSE THINGS. BUT THE OTHER DAY I WAS TALKING WITH ANOTHER JEEP OWNER WHO HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN. SO, I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THIS INCIDENT IN CASE OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. MY BODY SHOP PERSON HAD INFORMED ME OF ANOTHER JEEP OWNER WHO WAS PINNED AGAINST HIS GARAGE DOOR WHEN HIS JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WENT FROM PARK INTO REVERSE. I CAN GET HIM TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THIS ORGANIZATION. THE DEALERS RESPONSE TO ME WAS "I PROPBABLY DID NOT HAVE IT IN GEAR PROPERLY AND DID I HAVE THE PARKING BRAKE ON?" BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY.....I SURE PUT IT ON NOW AND CHECK IT DOUBLE BUT SURE DON'T TRUST IT ENOUGH TO IDLE IN PARK......ALTHOUGH AFTER DRIVING FOR 35 YEARS I HAVE NEVER HAD THE PROBLEM WITH OTHER CARS OR TRUCKS! THE FUEL PUMP HAD EVIDENTLY BEEN A PROBLEM FOR THEM AS THE DEALER SAID THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL FAILURES "BUT NO RECALL" THE PUMP HAS TO BE REPLACED BY FACTORY PART AT $500 PLUS DOLLARS WITH AN ADDITIONAL $700.00 FOR LABOR TO INSTALL "AND EVEN THEN, WE CAN'T GUARANTEE IT BUT FOR 6 MONTHS! ON OCTOBER 30, 2000, WHEN DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WITH '96 GRAND CHEROKEE JEEP, I STOPPED AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK TO GET OUT OF THE CAR TO RETRIEVE AN OBJECT ON THE GROUND. WHEN I LEFT THE VEHICLE I NOTICED IT STARTED TO ROLL BACK, INSTANTLY I ATTEMPTED TO JUMP BACK INTO THE JEEP AND SECURE IT. I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN MY ATTEMPT AND THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO ROLL BACKWARDS, CRASHING INTO MY NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE, CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO HOUSE, GARAGE AND PARKED VEHICLES. I WAS ALSO INJURED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE RUNAWAY VEHICLE, SUSTAINING A FRACTURED ANKLE AND SHOULDER INJURY. A LOCAL POLICE REPORT WAS FILED IN THE TOWN OF SHREWSBURY, MASSACHUSETTS AND A COMPREHENSIVE REPORT WAS FILED WITH MY AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANY. I ASSUMED THAT I MAY NOT HAVE PUT THE CAR IN "PARK" SINCE I NEVER SUSPECTED A DEFECT WITH THE GRAND CHEROKEE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT IN JAN.2001. ON MAY 4TH, 2001 I TOOK VECHILE TO AMOCCO TRANSMISSION TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC OF THE TRANSMISSION. WAS TOLD THERE WAS A PROBLEM, SINCE MY VECHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, WAS TOLD TO TAKE BACK TO DEALER. JERRY'S LINCLON-JEEP DEALER HAD MY VECHILCE FOR TWO WEEKS AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION, I GAVE THEM AMOCCO'S DIAGNOTIC REPORT. ON 5/20/01 I WAS DRIVING ON RT 81 SOUTH -VA, WHEN I PUT MY JEEP IN TO 4 WHEEL DRIVE, IT STARTED TO BURN, CALLED 911 AND TOLD TO GET OUT OF VECHICLE. THE JEEP THEN PROCEEDED TO CATCH ON FIRE. THE WODDSTOCK,VA FIR DEPARTMENT PUT OUT FIRE. IT WAS TOWED TO THE WOODSTOCK GARAGE(JEEP DEALER). IT IS ESTIMATED TO HAVE ABOUT $7500 WORTH OF DAMAGE. GREAT WEATHER, SMOOTH ROAD, A BOTTOM OF A HILL, LEFT REAR AXLE BROKE AT 60 MPH CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SPIN AND THEN ROLL. LEFT REAR WHEEL TOTALLY SEPARATED FROM VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS AFTER ROLLING AND LANDING UPSIDE DOWN.
THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM MAY HAVE EXISTED WHEN WE PURCHASED CAR. BUT BEING THAT IT WAS NEW TO US, WE DID NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GOOD OR BAD TRANSMISSION. ON 02/08/2000, WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM BOWLING, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT UPSHIFT CAUSING THE ENGINE RPMS TO CLIMB TO 4-5,000 RPM'S (CONTINUED HOME, 7 MILES). WIFE NEXT DAY 02/09/2000, TOOK KIDS TO SCHOOL AND ON THE FREEWAY TO HER MOM'S HOUSE ( A DISTANCE OF ONLY 5 MILES), TRANSMISSION FAILED TO STAY ENGAGED, SHE CREPT HOME AT ABOUT 5-15 MPH. THIS TRANSMISSION WAS SERVICED EVERY 12-18,000 MILES. THE LAST SERVICE DONE WAS AT 70,150 MILES, (ATF+3, FILTER&GASKET)FAILURE HAPPENED AT 77,740 MILES, I WAS STUNNED! I CALLED MCCUNE AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND IF THERE WAS ANYTHING THAT THEY CAN DO, I WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF $2,200+, AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL. I TOOK THE JEEP DOWN TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP (CORONAS TRANSMISSION) AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS "BURNT UP". WENT TO GET A SECOND OPINION AT AAMCO, GIVEN ESTIMATE OF $1800+. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED THAT A "TOP-OF-THE-LINE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 4X4" FAILED TO PERFORM AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. MULTIPLE REAR AXLE PROBLEMS, EACH DIAGNOSED BY OWNER PRIOR TO FAILURE. (THE DEALER DIDN'T WANT TO ADMIT THERE WAS A PROBLEM) THIS VEHICLE HAS AVERAGED ONE NEW REAR AXLE EVERY YEAR, INCLUDING THIS YEAR WHICH I AM WAITING ON PARTS. THE ENGINE'S FAULTY MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR QUIT OPERATION WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS ON SOME SWITCHBACK ROADS. THE ENGINE ABRUBTLY QUIT RUNNING, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOOSE STEERING AND BRAKING CONTROL. ONLY QUICK THINKING BY USING THE PARKING BRAKE SAVED THE FOUR PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE FROM EMINENT DEATH. THE ENGINE RELUCTANTLY RESTARTED AFTER A FEW SECONDS AND WE CONTINUED DOWN THE MOUNTAINS. HOWEVER, A FEW MINUTES LATER THE ENGINE DIED WITHOUT WARNING FOR A SECOND TIME AND WE WERE FORCED TO HOLD THE JEEP ON THE MOUNTAINSIDE WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. I CAN'T BELIEVE NO ONE HAS DIED FROM THIS VEHICLE! THIS SITUATION HAS OCCURED ON TWO SEPARATE TRIPS, APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR APART, AFTER REPROGRAMMING THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT COMPUTER, AND REPLACING THE MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR AND REMAPPING THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT COMPUTER FOR A SECOND TIME. FOR THE FIRST TWO YEARS I OWNED THIS VEHICLE, IT WAS IN THE SHOP OVER 36 TIMES FOR WARRANTY RELATED REPAIRS. WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK!( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P225/65R16 )

WAS TOWING A TRAILER & STARTED SMELLING BURNING ODOR. STOPPED VEHICLE TO CHECK & FOUND NOTHING. STOPPED AT GAS STATION & NOTICED TRAILER COVERED WITH BLACK OIL. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL GEARS BROKE. WAITED FOR PARTS TO BE ORDERED & REPAIRS DONE TO JEEP. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES. THE GEARS & REBUILT DIFFERENTIAL WERE REPLACED TWICE BEFORE. *AK
SUNROOF RUSTED OUT- REPLACED BY DEALER, AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS FAILED AND VINYL PANELING PEELED- BOTH THING REPLACED BY DEALER. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON- SENSOR REPLACED TWICE BY DEALER.
THE REAR PINION BEARING ON MY GRAND CHEROKEE IS GOING BAD.......THIS WOULD NOT SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM IF NOT FOR THE FACT THAT EVERY MECHNAIC I SPEAK TO TELLS ME THE PROBLEM IS VERY WIDESPREAD. THIS IS A PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THE MACHANICS THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. I SPOKE TO THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER ,EVEN THEY AGREE THE PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD, YET NOTHING IS BEING DONE BY CHRYSLER CORP TO FIX THE PROBLEM!

CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED WITH A NEW GEAR SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL, TRANSFER CASE AND DRIVE SHAFT, 4 NEW TIRES AND SHOCKS WITH NO IMPROVEMENTS RESULTING IN $3000 IN SERVICE COST. ENGINE ENGAGED ITSELF IN "REVERSE" ON FLAT DRIVE, WENT 122' SMASHED INTO A TREE, CONTINUED 22' REAR END OF VEHICLE LODGED ITSELF ON WOODEN DECK OF BUILDING WITH TRAIL HITCH, THEN WENT FORWARD 100' FEET KNOCKING DOWN TWO 5-6" DIAMETER TREES BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TAKEN OUT OF "PARK" TO REMOVE OFF OF TREES.
TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED SURGE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. HOWEVER, THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE 94 & 95 VEHICLES INDICATING A SPRING BODY WAS FAULTY FOR SOME AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION MAY HAVE FAILED DUE TO THE SAME FAILURE AS THE 94 & 95 SERVICE BULLETIN. *YC
WHILE STOPPED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, THE TRANSMISSION IN "PARK" THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY WENT INTO REVERSE. NO ONE WAS IN THE AUTOMOBILE AT THE TIME. IT CRASHED INTO A DELLIVERY TRUCK, AND THEN JUMPED INTO "DRIVE" AND FORTUNATELY THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO REACH INTO THE OPEN DOOR AND TURN OFF THE ENGINEOFF. DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED $5,000.00 AND FORTUNATELY NO PERSONS WERE INJURED. WITNESSES REPORTED THAT THE DRIVER WAS OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE FOR 5 MINUTES BEFORE THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF IN REVERSE AND ACCELERATED. *AK

AUTOMOBILE WOULD NOT SHIFT(OR HAD TROUBLE SHIFTING) INTO 3RD GEAR WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 32 DEGREES. *AK
COLD TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT FROM 2ND GEAR TO 3RD. TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR, CAUSING LOSS OF POWER. DEALER RECOMMENDS NEW TRANSMISSION. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
VEHICLE WHEN PUT IN 4-WHEEL DRIVE, IT IS HARD TO GET INTO GEAR, PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, VEHICLE MAKES A BIG THUMP NOISE AND JERKS, SOMETIMES GETS STUCK, DEALER CONTACTED ,AND CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

DIFFERENTIAL UNIT DOES NOT LOCK THE REAR WHEELS IN EXTREME LOW TRACTION CONDITIONS.
VEHICLE JUMPS INTO NEUTRAL WHILE STOPPED AT LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. DRIVER HAS TO TAP THE GAS PEDAL TO ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION.
THE OVERDRIVE DROPPED OUT AT 75 MPH TWICE IN A 30 MINUTE PERIOD, CAUSING RMPS TO JUMP FROM 2100 TO 3200.
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT FAILED, CAME ON AND STAYED ON FOR OVER 5000 MILES. PREVIOUSLY TRANSMISSION FAILED/REPLACED. *AK
