On 08/01/ 19 took my Jeep in to have brakes fixed at big o tires they changed front and back pads and rotors. After that they found the Master Cylinder to be defective and replaced that also. I have the bill to show this work. In 2022 my Check Brake light would stay on all the time, my brakes were good to me. Big O’s had burned down the year before, I live within 2 streets of their business, their fire was in my front window! Odometer : Readings on Dates: 1) 102,335 : Original date of Brake work! 2) 107,000 : day when brought in to fix light on, 9/29/22. Day before on the phone, the man who answered the phone said I would never fail inspection because of brake light on, only check engine light!! 3) 107,453 : the Gentleman on 9/29/2022 said he had changed the Master Cylinder again, while explaining that some master cylinders had sensors on the inside and other could be replaced. On the 9/29/22 got no paperwork, was there all day! 4) 4 pm: today called the store, have at the moment a 2/21/23 for 8 am, I called to give them the current odometer reading, the gentleman that answered the phone, Was well aware of me and said, I would be be getting a call from the GM. When driving the truck will randomly shut off or stall no matter the speed or if its parked. replaced the crankshaft and cam shaft position sensor and still has the same issue. These vehicles must have a bad ECM unit on them or something.
DISCOVERED THAT ALL WINDOWS AND SIDE MIRRORS WERE NO LONGER OPERARABLE FROM WITHIN VECHICLE PANEL ON DRIVER SIDE. UNABLE TO LOCK THE VECHICLE FROM WITHIN, AS WELL. UNABLE TO LOCK THE VECHICLE WITH KEY CONTROL FROM OUTSIDE, ONLY MANUALLY, THOUGH THE KEY CONTROL CAN STILL LOCK ALL OTHER DOORS, INCLUDING THE REAR GATE. FIRESTONE STATED THAT ONLY A JEEP DEALER CAN REPAIR THIS ISSUE.
AM THE OWNER OF A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, I AM THE ONLY OWNER, I HAVE TAKEN IT SEVERAL TIMES TO THE DEALER, AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO CHANGE THE COMPLETE REAR LAMPS (THEY HAVE ONLY CHANGED THE BULBS ONCE) IN DEALER THEY TELL ME THAT HAS NOTHING THAT I MUST CHANGE THE (TAILLAMPS ASSY), PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP, MY CHEROKEE HAS ALWAYS BEEN PARKED IN MY CLOSED GARAGE, IT NEVER STAYS ON THE STREET

WITHOUT WARNING MY JEEPS ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT IS WHILE STOPPED OR DRIVING IT WILL SHUT OFF AND NOT TURN BACK ON UNTIL ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER. WHEN IT HAS SHUT OFF IT WILL STILL TURN OVER AND I HAVE POWER TO EVERYTHING I NEED BUT IT WILL NOT FIRE UP. THIS HAPPENED FIRST ON A SUNNY MORNING DRIVING IN TOWN. I TOWED IT BACK TO MY HOUSE AND COULD NOT GET ANY CODES. IT FIRED UP AND I THOUGHT IT WAS FINE SO I KEPT DRIVING IT. AT THIS POINT ABOUT TEN MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND WHILE CRUISING ALONG A BUSY ROAD IT SHUT OFF, I HAD POWER AND THE ABILITY TO STEER BUT NO POWER STEERING. LUCKILY I HAD A DRIVEWAY TO PULL INTO AND I COASTED INTO IT. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING. AT THIS POINT I HAVE MY JEEP AT THE DEALER IN MODESTO CA FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER AND THE WIRING HARNESS FOR 1400 DOLLARS AND THEN THEY WILL SEE IF THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM. NOT A GUARANTEE IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO ME AS I CANNOT SPEND THIS TYPE OF MONEY WITH THE HOPE THAT WHATEVER OTHER PROBLEM THERE MIGHT BE WILL BE MORE AFFORDABLE OR EASIER TO DIAGNOSE. THIS HAS TO BE A PROBLEM THAT IS INHERENT WITH THE JEEP ITSELF AND A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. NOT ONLY DO I NOT BELIEVE THIS IS MY FAULT AS A USER OF THE VEHICLE BUT I BELIEVE THAT THIS HAS CAUSED AN UNSAFE OPERATING CONDITION AND I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON ANOTHER ROAD SUCH AS, A DIRT ROAD, MOUNTAIN ROAD, WINDING ROAD, IN ICY OR RAINY CONDITIONS, OR ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAS ALSO CAUSED ME TO NOT BE ABLE TO SELL THIS CAR FOR ANY REASONABLE PRICE, AND THE PRICE FOR REPAIR IS OVER A QUARTER OF THE BLUE BOOK OF THE CAR. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR 3 YRS CONSECUTIVE AND I THINK IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT IS THE BREAKS LIGHTING AND THEIR HAS BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE ON LINE. I THINK THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL ALL THIS VEHICLES AND REWIRE THEM FOR FREE SINCE IT IS A SAFETY FITCHER. THE WINDOWS, DOOR LOCKS AND MIRROR CONTROLS WERE NOT WORKING. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF THE MAIN WIRES COMING IN FROM THE BODY OF THE JEEP INTO THE DOOR, (DOOR JAM/BLACK BOOT) IT WAS CLEAR WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THERE WAS A BLACK SEVERED WIRE AND A PARTIAL SEVERED ORANGE/WHITE WIRE. THERE WAS NO CLEAR SOLUTION WHY THIS HAS HAPPENED. THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS BEING A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING HARNESS. I HAVE REPAIRED A LOT OF THINGS UNDER THE HOOD ESPECIALLY WITH THE SENSORS AND THE BLACK HARNESS WIRE IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, IT SPLIT IN 2 AND STOPPED RUNNING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I HAD TO HAVE IT SLICED AND MENDED TOGETHER, AFTER 8 MONTHS RECENTLY, I HAD TO REPAIR THE BLACK WIRE AGAIN DUE TO MOISTURE SETTING IN THE TAPE AND WIRES, I READ ON THE INTERNET CHRYSLER SHOULD HAVE NEVER PUT THE BLACK OR YELLOW WHERE'S IN THE DOOR, BECAUSE THEY BEND AND BREAK. THIS CAUSED MY THE LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND REMOTE SIDE MIRRORS NOT TO WORK. THE DASH BOARD METERS WENT HAYWIRE, I HAD THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED, SENSORS AND THROTTLE BODY CLEANED AND REPLACED. I RECENTLY HAD THE FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED, THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OUT, FOR 2 DAY'S AND NOW BACK ON. HOW FRUSTRATING AFTER BUYING THIS CAR FOR $23,900 IN 6/2004, I HAVE PAID AN ESTIMATE IN CAR REPAIRS OF $4-5000 SO FAR. WE CHECKED THE WIRES IN THE DRIVER DOOR BOOT AND THE BLACK WIRE WAS BROKE. FIXED THAT PROBLEM. NOW THE WIRES IN BOTH FRONT AND AND REAR DOORS DRIVER AND PASSENGER ARE BROKEN. REAR SPEAKERS DO NOT WORK, WINDOWS DO NOT ROLL DOWN, AND DOORS DO NOT LOCK. SENSOR FOR INTERIOR LIGHT ON REAR PASSENGER DOOR DO NOT WORK. WINDOW IS PARTIALLY DOWN AND NO WAY TO PUT BACK UP. MY DRIVER SEAT IS MAKING A ROCKING MOVEMENT THAT JUST RECENTLY STARTED. THIS IS THE WORST VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED BY FAR. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE ALL THAT I HAVE IN A VEHICLE. I BECAME SUCH A HEADACHE TO THE CHRYSLER CORP. THEY REFUNDED ME $250.00. THE SECOND TIME WE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM THE DEALER FOUND THE SAME WIRE IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION UNDER THE GLOVE BOX HAD JUST BROKEN IN TWO. THIS COST ME AGAIN AND CHRYSLER WOULD NOT HELP. I HAD THIS ISSUE IN 2009 AFTER AT ABOUT 46,000 MILES. WHEN CALLING THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIP GIVE ME AN EXACT PRICE OVER THE PHONE AS THEY KNEW OF THIS ISSUE. SINCE THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY RUDE AND PRICE WAS VERY HIGH.I HAD THE REPAIRS DONE AT A HIGHLY REGARDED REPAIR SHOP WHICH SPECIALIZES IN ELECTRICAL WORK WHICH COST $201 BUT NOW (AT 80,000 MILES) THE EXACT SAME ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AGAIN DUE TO THE OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THE WIRING HARNESS IS LOCATED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, BUT THE HARNESS IS TOO SMALL TO SUSTAIN ALL OF THE WIRES. WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED, THE WIRES COME OUT OF THE HARNESS AND BREAK, WHICH CAUSES EVERYTHING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR PANEL NOT TO WORK. THIS INCLUDES THE POWER WINDOWS, DOOR LOCKS, INTERIOR LIGHTS AND POWER MIRRORS ALL OF WHICH CAUSE A SAFETY HAZARD. I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR JEEP THAT THEY SHOULD FIX FREE OF CHARGE ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. TRANSMISSION SERVICE WAS RECOMMENDED AND PERFORMED BUT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. ($385) - LATER IN OCTOBER, THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP AGAIN. FOR 2 WEEKS WITHOUT SUCCESS. DEALER MENTIONED THAT HE WAS ONLY ABLE TO RECONSTRUCT THE FAILURE ONCE. DAILY TESTING DIDN'T SHOW THE PROBLEM ANY MORE. CAR WAS PICKED UP ON 10/26/09. SINCE THAT TIME, THE CAR IS HAVING THE PROBLEM MORE THAN 50% OF THE TIME. THERE WERE FLAMES COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SEAT. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM DAIMLER/CHRYSLER CAME OUT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED AND DETERMINED THE FIRE WAS OF AN ELECTRICAL NATURE. THE CONTACT REPORTS HAVING NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT.

I LEASE A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH HEATED LEATHER SEATS. EARLIER THIS YEAR THE DRIVER SIDE HEATER WENT OUT THEN I NOTICED THAT JUST THE LOWER BACK HEATER CAME ON. ONE DAY IN FEBRUARY AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND 1/2 I GOT HOME AND TRIED TO TAKE OFF MY SWEATSHIRT BUT COULD NOT AS IT WAS MELTED TO MY CELL PHONE CASE. AT FIRST I DID NOT KNOW WHAT HAD HAPPENED THEN UPON LATER INVESTIGATION I NOTICED A BURN WHOLE IN MY CAR SEAT THAT RAN UP WHAT WAS APPARENTLY THE HEATER WIRE. I AM A PARAPLEGIC AND IF IT WAS NOT FOR THE CELL PHONE CASE I COULD HAVE BEEN BURNED. MY CONCERN IS FOR OTHERS LIKE ME AND DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF THE HEAT WHICH COULD MELT A SWEAT SHIRT AND A PHONE CASE THAT IT POTENTIALLY COULD IGNITE CLOTHING. *JB

CONSUMER CONCERNED ABOUT DESIGN PROBLEM WITH POTENTIAL WIRE HARNESS FAILURE AND POSSIBLE FIRE, 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. *BF THE PROBLEMS INVOLVED MISLEADING /INCORRECT MARKING ON THE 12 VOLT ACCESSORY POWER OUTLETS. THE OUTLETS WERE MARKED AS BEING ABLE TO HANDLE 20 AMPS. AFTER PLUGGING IN A RADIO WHICH NORMALLY DREW 7 AMPS, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE RADIO WOULD NOT FUNCTION IN THE TRANSMIT MODE. WHEN TRYING TO TRANSMIT, THE VOLTAGE AT THE REAR VEHICLE'S REAR POWER OUTLET, IT DROPPED DOWN TO ABOUT 8 VOLTS. THE CONSUMER STATED IF AN OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE WAS TO PLUG ANYTHING INTO THE VEHICLE POWER OUTLETS THAT DREW MORE THAT 5 AMPS OF CURRENT THERE WAS A GOOD CHANCE THAT OVERHEATING AND BURNING THE WIRES WOULD OCCUR. *JB
WE PURCHASED A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THE END OF JUNE 2004. THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 30-40 MILES AT PURCHASE. THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASE THE CAR CUT OFF ON MY HUSBAND AND WAS DIFFICULT TO START. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THEY COULD NOT LOOK AT THE CAR BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. WHILE ON VACATION 1 1/2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE OUR CAR SHUT OFF WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND WAS TOWED TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP IN MARYLAND. THAT DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR. NO INCIDENTS OCCURRED FOR 1 1/2 WEEKS. THEN UPON OUR RETURN TO SOUTH CAROLINA THE RPM OF OUR CAR WOULD SUDDENLY DROP TO 500 WHILE IDLING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS OR AT A STOP. THE RPM'S WOULD ALSO SUDDENLY DROP TO 0 AND THE CAR WOULD CUT OFF WHILE IDLING. FROM THE MIDDLE OF JULY UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST THE CAR WAS LOOKED AT APPROXIMATELY 6 TIMES. THE SKIM MODULE AND WIRING HARNESS WERE BOTH REPLACED IN THE CAR. AFTER THE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED THE CAR CEASED TO HAVE PROBLEMS FOR 3000 MILES. THEN ON DECEMBER 4TH THE CAR CUT OFF WHILE WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE RPM'S HAVE NOW STARTED TO ONCE AGAIN DROP DOWN TO BELOW 500 AND OCCASIONALLY THEY GO UP AND DOWN WHEN THE CAR IS NOT EVEN MOVING. A CO-PILOT SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED TO RECORD ANY ERRORS IN THE CAR AND NO CODES OR MISFIRES WERE CAPTURED FROM THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE CAR AND CHRYSLER INFORMED US THAT THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO REPLACE OUR CAR EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.*AK

ON OR ABOUT FEBRUARY 20, 2004, MATTHEW BELLER SUFFERED SEVERE BURNS FROM A SEAT HEATER IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT OF A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. HE IS A PARAPELGIC AND DID NOT FEEL THE BURN OCCURING. THE SEAT HEATER DID NOT TURN OFF AFTER REACHING NORMAL TEMPERATURES. A PRODUCT LIABILITY ACTION IS BEING BOUGHT IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT OF OREGON.

THE IDLING WAS SET TOO HIGH. WHEN RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL VEHICLE COULD MOTION BY ITSELF UP TO 10 MPH IN EITHER DRIVE OR IN REVERSE. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. THEY INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT WAS THE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE COMPUTER SETTING. *AK

MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS A DEFECT IN THE ECM THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF BUT WILL DO NOTHING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM CURRENTLY. THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE HAS DIED AT STOP LIGHTS, IT HAS STUMBLED, AND/OR HESITATED UPON ACCELERATING FROM STOP, AND RUNS SO POORLY AT AN IDLE WHILE SETTING IT SHAKES THE WHOLE VEHICLE. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT IS DOING NOTHING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ON THE 2004 GRAND CHEROKEE'S. I WAS BASICALLY TOLD BY CHRYSLER THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LIVE WITH THIS PROBLEM RUNNING THE RISK OF MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE STOPPING UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN IT COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS BASICALLY AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN IF THE ENGINE SHOULD UNEXPECTEDLY DIE AT THE WRONG MOMENT WHEN ACCELERATING.*AK

MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS A COUPLE POWER OUTLETS; THEY LOOK ALMOST LIKE CIGARETTE LIGHTER RECEPTACLES. THE OUTLETS ARE MARKED "20A" INDICATING A 20 AMP CURRENT CAPABILITY. THE JEEP BOOK ALSO INDICATES THESE POWER OUTLETS ARE ABLE TO CARRY 20 AMPS, AND THE JEEP SHOP MANUAL CALLS THESE 20 AMP CIRCUITS. WHEN I DISASSEMBLED SOME TRIM TO INSTALL A 2-METER HAM RADIO, I SAW 2 VERY SMALL WIRES CONNECTED TO THE REAR POWER OUTLET. THE JEEP SHOP MANUAL SAYS THESE ARE 16 GAUGE WIRES. HERE IS THE PROBLEM: 16 GAUGE WIRES WILL NOT COME NEAR THE ABILITY TO HANDLE 20 AMPS OF CURRENT. IN FACT, 16 GAUGE WIRE CURRENT CAPACITY IN A CABLE BUNDLE IS AROUND THE 5 OR 6 AMP AREA. MY HAM RADIO DRAWS 8 AMPS WHEN TRANSMITTING, AND WHEN PLUGGED IN THE JEEP POWER OUTLET, THE VOLTAGE DROP WAS THREE VOLTS. WHAT THIS MEANS IS THAT THE WIRES CAN SEVERELY OVERHEAT AND BECOME A FIRE HAZARD IF THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE ADVERTISED 20 AMP CAPABILITY. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW CHRYSLER/JEEP GETS AWAY WITH THIS. THERE IS A 20 AMP FUSE IN THIS CIRCUIT, SO ANYONE USING AN INVERTER OR OTHER ACCESSORY THAT ACTUALLY DRAWS 20 AMPS IS GOING TO SERIOUSLY OVERHEAT OR MELT THE WIRING BEFORE THE FUSE BLOWS. *LA
