Car is currently parked: I own a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado which Jeep claims has no recalls yet there (3) all of which are happening to my vehicle. NHTSA 07V434000, 13V175000 and 14V438000. My car is very well maintained I have reached out to Jeep and claim my truck was not recalled yet my TRUCK is listed as having (6) recalls all of which are issues the truck is currently having. I have computer codes to prove it. I understand my truck have 150,000 miles and is 16 almost 17 years old however it was bought as an investment that Jeep seems to selectively correct issues only when they are threatened to be sued. This is totally ridiculous. There are multiple complaints from other owners. These things should have been recalled years ago. My vehicle has never been modified and we should not have to be responsible for recalls that are selectively being fixed when there are over 6000 complaints. Thank you

DURING ROUTINE VISITS TO MY NEIGHBORHOOD SUPERMARKET, I'VE NOTICED WHILE DRIVING THE RPM METER WAS GOING UP AND DOWN AT A STAND-STILL. NOW THE VEHICLE WAS MAINTENANCE REGULARLY AND I HAVE HAD ISSUES BEFORE I'VE REPLACED THE EGR VALVE, THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, SPARK PLUGS, PCV VALVE, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER, A/C COMPRESSOR EVEN REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE TRUCK ALSO SEEMS TO LACK POWER EITHER THAT BEING AN OLD SOFTWARE THAT IT IS USING OR THE OVERALL DRIVETRAIN IS JUST ABYSMAL. THERE ALSO SEEMS TO BE A LOUD THUD THAT COMES FROM DIRECTLY UNDER THE VEHICLE WHEN ENGAGING P R N & D. EITHER THE BUSHINGS ARE WORN OR THE DRIVESHAFT IS WORN. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN MULTI POINT CHECKED AT A LOCAL CDJ DEALERSHIP AND IT PASSED. ALSO THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED ON A RECALL. GOING AT LOW RPMS, I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN GOING FROM 15-30 MPH THERE SEEMS TO BE A DELAY IN TRAVEL AS THE TRUCK WILL SEEM TO BE LAGGING OR WANTS TO SLOW DOWN WHEN MY FOOT ISN'T ON THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN IN MOTION, GOING AROUND 60-80 MPH, THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO HAVE A MODERATE SHAKE AS IN IT VIBRATES FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE INTO THE CABIN AREA. IT WILL FEEL LIKE YOU'RE ON A ROLLERCOASTER AND THE VEHICLE IS JUST RUMBLING DOWN THE ROAD. IT FEELS SAFE AT TIMES, BUT WHEN THE 'SERVICE 4WD' LIGHT APPEARS IT BECOMES ALMOST FRIGHTENING TO DRIVE THE TRUCK AS IT REQUIRES MORE ATTENTION THEN ANY OTHER VEHICLE I'VE ENCOUNTERED. ALSO GOING BACK TO THE LAG, YOU'LL HEAR A CHAIN-LIKE SOUND AS IF THE DIFFERENTIAL HAS AN ISSUE. I'VE GOTTEN MOST OF THE FRONT-END REPLACED: TIRE-RODS, BALL-JOINTS, CV-SHAFTS/AXLES, STRUTS, STABILIZER LINKS AND MORE. NOW WHEN TURNING THE TRUCK, THERE SEEMS TO BE A LACK OF POWER AS WELL. I HAD THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TESTED AND THEY BOTH CAME BACK GOOD. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT INTERNALLY THE TRUCK JUST WASN'T MEANT TO HOLD UP.

THE PCM IS NOT COMMUNICATING BETWEEN THE COMPUTER AND THE TRANSMISSION. IT'S MAKING THE TRANSMISSION JUMP, LOOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING, WARNING SAYING TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP (CAN COME ON EVEN WHEN YOU JUST START DRIVING), CODE P1603-PCM INTERNAL DUAL PORT RAM, COMMUNICATION FAILURE. THE RPM'S HAVE RAMPED UP AND DOWN WHILE AT A STOP, LOOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING, AND CAN EVEN TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING. EVENTUALLY THE ALTERNATOR WENT BAD. REPLACED ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY HAVE BEEN REPLACED 8/16/20. EVENTUALLY IF THE ECM IS NOT REPLACED THEN IT'LL KILL THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP STARTED AROUND 60,000 MILES. THIS ISSUE HAS STEADILY GOTTEN WORSE OVERTIME, BECAME MORE FREQUENT, AND MORE DANGEROUS. I'VE READ OF LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND THERE'S BEEN NO RECALLS. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR SAFETY ISSUES. PLEASE LOOK INTO THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.

RECEIVED 'TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP' MESSAGE ON DASHBOARD AFTER ABOUT 10 MILES OF DRIVING IN THE MORNING. WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE HEAT FOR A WHILE, THE MESSAGE COULD APPEAR BEFORE 10 MILES (SOMETIMES IMMEDIATELY). THE FAN TURNS ON AND THERE IS A DEFINITE LAG IN ACCELERATION. ALONG WITH THIS ERROR, I ALSO GET THE 'SERVICE, TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM' MESSAGE CONSISTENTLY. I'VE VISITED MY MECHANIC WITH BOTH ISSUES AND THEY THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED BY THE NEW BATTERY, BUT THEY ONLY DROVE THE CAR FOR 8 MILES TO ATTEMPT GETTING THE TRANSMISSION HOT, NOR DID THEY PROBABLY HIT A BUMP/POTHOLE TO TRIGGER THE TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM. THEY'RE PUZZLED AS TO WHY THOSE MESSAGES ARE POPPING UP BECAUSE THEY DON'T SEE ANY FURTHER ISSUES WITH THE CAR.

AFTER PURCHASING THIS CAR PRE-OWNED IN 2008 WE BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING. AFTER BRINGING BACK INTO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, THEY FOUND NOTHING. THIS WENT ON FOR A PERIOD OF TWO YEARS, WITH THEM EVEN KEEPING THE CAR OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. STILL NOTHING ON THE DIAGNOSTICS. THROUGHOUT THE YEARS WE WOULD NOTICE A STRONG DOWNSHIFT WHEN COMING TO STOPS AND A "CHUG" WHEN SHIFTING OUT OF LOW GEARS. FAST FORWARD TO 2018. THE JEEP FINALLY QUIT SHIFTING OUT OF FIRST GEAR...THE RPMS WOULD RACE UP AND THE CAR JUST WOULDN'T SIFT EVEN WHEN USING SHIFTER STICK MANUALLY TO THE + OR -. BROUGHT TO LOCAL MECHANIC. DID DIAGNOSTICS. FOUND SHIFTER WAS BROKEN AND REPLACED AND RESET. A FEW DAYS WENT BY AND IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. MECHANIC SAID THAT REAR WHEEL SENSOR HAD GONE BAD AND WAS THROWING OF COMPUTER BRAIN OF CAR, SO WE HAD HIM REPLACE THAT. ALL WAS GREAT. HUSBAND TAKES CAR ON SHORT TRIP AND WHILE PASSING A CAR IN THE LEFT LANE ON INTERSTATE 10 IT ONCE AGING CHUGS DOWN HARD AND HE LOSES GEARS...HAS TO PULL OVER ON SIDE OF INTERSTATE, SHUT OFF CAR AND RESTART TO GET IT TO SHIFT AGAIN. BOTTOM LINE IS THERE HAS TO BE A LONG STANDING ISSUE WITH DRIVE/POWER TRAIN & ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER BRAIN!!! WE HAVE KEPT THIS CAR IN GREAT WORKING ORDER, REGULARLY CHANGING FLUIDS AND MAINTENANCING. THERE IS NO REASON THIS CARE SHOULD BE BEHAVING IN THIS MANNER @ 12 YEARS OLD, REGULARLY MAINTAINED UNLESS THERE IS AN OUTSTANDING ISSUE WITH 2006 JEEPS. IT HAS TO BE AN OVERALL PROBLEM AND AFTER READING MANY OF THE COMPLAINTS WE BELIEVE THIS WARRANTS AN INVESTIGATION AND DEFINTELY A RECALL!!! ALL OF THE ABOVE ISSUES HAPPENED IN BOTH CITY STREET AND HIGHWAY SITUATIONS AND WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.

THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IT WAS THE TRANSFER CASE SEAL THAT BLEW. HE CHANGED IT AND ADDED FLUID, BUT THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. HE SAID THAT IF IT DOESN'T GO AWAY. NOW, THE JEEP WON'T SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. IT HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY SINCE I PICKED IT UP FROM THE MECHANIC ON 12/4/17.

THEREFORE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT GEAR IT NEEDS TO BE IN. AFTER HAVING RERESEARCHED ONLINE THIS IS A KNOW, COMMON ISSUE. THIS IS A SERIOUS DANGER AS THE VEHICLE GOES INTO "LIMP" MODE; (WON'T PROPERLY ACCELERATE). THIS CAN HAPPEN UNDER MANY DRIVING CONDITIONS, CITY OR HIGHWAY. IMAGINE ENTERING TRAFFIC AT A BUSY INTERSECTION AND SUDDENLY LOSING THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS, AS HAVE MANY OTHER INDIVIDUALS ACCORDING TO INTERNET RESEARCH. IT SEEMS THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS OF THE ISSUE. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL?

I KNOW THE 2005 JEEP CHEROKEES WERE RECALLED FOR HAVING THE VERY SAME ISSUE FROM THE MANY MECHANICS WHO HAVE DRIVEN MY CAR TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. ONE OF THE MECHANICS WHERE I TOOK IT TO WAS CHRYSLER JEEP IN ASHEVILLE, N.C. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT I DID HAVE A 2005 TRANSMISSION WHICH HAD BEEN ON YOUR RECALL LIST. I WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED AS I HAVE BEEN TRAVELING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR QUITE SOMETIME WITH NO RESOLUTION.

IT WOULD RANDOMLY JUST LOOSE ALL POWER AND CUT OFF AS I WOULD BE DRIVING. I HAD IT LOOKED AT. CHECKED THE CODES BC CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD POP UP ALSO. MULTIPLE CODES WERE IN THE HISTORY PERTAINING TO THE ISSUE. I WAS GOING TO GET EVERYTHING FIXED UNTIL I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT JEEP FIRST BC THERE MIGHT BE SOME RECALLS THAT OTHERS WERE EXPERIENCING MY SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD OF PAID FOR IT REGARDLESS TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. IT HAD NUMEROUS RECALLS. MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO MCKINNEY DODGE IN EASLEY,SC. AFTER FIXING THE RECALLS I HAVE PAPERWORK FOR A FEW MONTHS LATER WAS DOING IT AGAIN. I WORK IN A SERVICE DEPT. SO I ASKED ONE MY TECHS IF IT WAS SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALLS AND DID I NEED TO CALL DEALERSHIP BACK. THEY SAID YES. CALLED MCKINNEY AND THEY REFUSED TO SET ME AN APPOINTMENT AND SAID THE PROBLEMS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALLS THEY FIXED. AFTER HAVING SEVERAL TOWS AND STRANDED AND ALMOST WRECKING WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND JUST DIES, I'M BEYOND FRUSTRATED AND NO ONE CAN SEEM TELL ME HOW TO FIX. AFTER READING SEVERAL REVIEWS AND RECALL INFORMATION, MY ISSUES ARE EVERYTHING WITH MY RECALLS. MY AIRBAG LIGHT GO ON AND OFF ALSO. THEY NEVER TOUCHED THAT AND IT'S ALSO A RECALL. DEAR RECIPIENT, I AM REACHING OUT TO MAKE OTHERS AWARE OF A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH MY FAMILY'S 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, WITH THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION, ONE OF MY MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE GEARS FROM PARK TO NATURAL. THE SUV WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY WHICH HAS A SLIGHT DECLINE IN SLOPE. DUE TO THE DECLINE AND THE VEHICLE BEING IN NEUTRAL IT STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS WITH MY FAMILY MEMBER INSIDE. WE WERE CLEANING THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT SO ALL THE DOORS WERE OPEN. THE JEEP PICKED UP SPEED, HIT OUR FENCE, AND ROLLED OUT ONTO A PUBLIC ROAD AND INTO OUR NEIGHBOR'S YARD. LUCKY NOBODY WAS HURT, EXCEPT FOR THE JEEP. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED A MEMBER OF MY FAMILY OR OTHER CIVILIANS AROUND THE SCENE. I HAVE HAD OTHER ISSUES WITH MY JEEP, ONE OF WHICH HAS BEEN MADE INTO A RECALL WITHOUT FIXES. THIS RECALL IS ABOUT THE IGNITION SWITCH GOING FROM ON TO OFF WHILE DRIVING. I CAN SAY FROM EXPERIENCE THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES, AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN; YOU LOSE THE ABILITY TO CONTROL YOUR VEHICLE BESIDES HAVING BRAKES. YOU LOSS POWER STEERING AND EXPERIENCE ENGINE FAILURE IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY TRAFFIC. JUST LIKE I HAVE READ ON JEEP FORUM AND ONLINE NEWS ARTICLES, THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE N23 RECALL. THEY WANTED $350.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM,PLUS LABOR AND PARTS TO REPAIR THE CAR. I BELIEVE THE ANTIOCH JEEP DEALERSHIP KNOWS THAT THE RECALL REPROGRAMMING OF THE FINAL DRIVE CONTROLLER SHOWED THAT THERE IS A CRACKED CIRCUIT BOARD IN THE UNIT AND THAT IT IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM IN OVER 250,000 CARS. I BEGAN TO GET A WHINING NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND RECOMMENDATION WERE TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION AND THE NOISE WENT AWAY. JUST RECENTLY THE WHINING NOISE RETURNED AND NOW WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST GEAR INTO SECOND IT IS A HARD SHIFT NOT FLUID AND SMOOTH. THE SERVICE STATION WHO I HAVE BEEN GOING TO FOR OVER 30 YEARS IS A VERY REPUTABLE AND A LIFE LONG FRIEND. HE FOUND NO CODES FROM THE ON BOARD COMPUTER AND HIS RECOMMENDATIONS WERE TO HAVE THE CAR CHECKED BY AND JEEP DEALER FOR MORE COMPLETE DIAGNOSES AS THEY HAVE EQUIPMENT THAT MIGHT HELP WITH THE PROBLEM BUT HIS DIAGNOSIS WAS PROBABLE BAD TRANSMISSION. FROM THE START THIS CAR ALWAYS HAD A SHIFT PROBLEM FROM FIRST TO SECOND. HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALER WAS UNCERTAIN WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. MY SON HAD HIS JEEP IN DRIVE, SITTING ON AN INCLINE WAITING TO EXIT A PARKING LOT. WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO MOVE FORWARD THE CAR HAD GONE INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN AND HE ROLLED BACK INTO THE VEHICLE BEHIND HIM. HE HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN IT OFF, START IT AGAIN, AND PUT IT IN DRIVE BEFORE IT WOULD GO FORWARD. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER OF THE CAR BEHIND HIM. I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD BY THEIR TECHNICIAN THAT THE N23 RECALL HAD NEVER BEEN PERFORMED ON THIS VEHICLE. IT HAD BEEN TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER TO PERFORM THE RECALL BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER BEFORE I PURCHASED IT AND THAT DEALER INCORRECTLY REPORTED THAT THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL AT THAT TIME. THIS RECALL WAS REQUIRED TO KEEP A CAR FROM SLIPPING INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT INPUT FROM THE DRIVER. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR IN FEBRUARY AND CHECKED FOR ANY OPEN RECALLS BEFORE PURCHASING. JEEP WAS FRAUDULENT WHEN REPORTING THIS RECALL AS COMPLETED AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE INCURRED. JEEP DID HAVE MY VEHICLE INSPECTED, AND I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THEM NUMEROUS TIMES BUT STILL HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY THEM ABOUT THIS INSPECTION. WHEN THIS FIRST STARTED HAPPENING I THOUGHT MAYBE THE COMPUTER HAD BEEN VIBRATED OR JOSTLED AND HAD A GLITCH. OVER TIME IT WOULD GO AWAY AND 6 MONTHS OR SO LATER HAPPEN AGAIN! PRIOR TO THE APPLICATION OF THIS RECALL MY VEHICLE WAS CAPABLE OF ENGAGING 4LO. AFTERWARDS (IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS IN THE DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT) THE TRANSFER CASE WOULD NOT SHIFT. THE "FIX" TO THIS WAS TO FLASH THE SOFTWARE TO MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE JEEP TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND 4WD LOW. ON 01/20/2014, I BROUGHT MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2006 TO MY MECHANIC DUE TO A SERVICE 4WD SYSTEM LIGHT ON DASHBOARD. MY MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT THE COMPUTER REVEALED CODE SAFETY RECALL N23/NHTSA 13 V-175. SAFETY RECALL N23 MAY UNINTENTIONALLY CAUSE THE TRANSFER CASE TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL POSITION WITHOUT INPUT FROM THE DRIVER. THIS CONDITION COULD ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY INADVERTENTLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. MY MECHANIC ADVISED ME TO GO TO MY JEEP DEALERSHIP DUE TO THE SAFETY RECALL. ON 01/21/2014, I CONTACTED VIA TELEPHONE THE JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE. I ADVISED THE JEEP EMPLOYEE OF THE SITUATION WITH MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2006. THE JEEP EMPLOYEE ADVISED THAT I WOULD BE CHARGED FOR REPAIR. I HAVE HAD MY ACTUATOR REPLACED AND THE FINAL DRIVE CONTROLLER REPROGRAMMED MANY TIMES. THE ISSUE WILL FIX FOR A DAY AND THEN BACK TO SAY FAULT CODE. MY SERVICE 4WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN I TRY AND ENGAGE IT. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP CORPORATE AND HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THEM BUT I DON'T FEEL THEY CARE. THEY HAVE HAD ME TAKING MY CAR TO ALL THESE DIFFERENT DEALERS AND EVERYONE SAYS ITS SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND SAY THEY FIXED IT. I HAVE BEEN OUT OF 800 OR MORE IN GAS, 160 IN DIAGNOSIS FEES, 170 IN TOW BILL FROM ONE DEALER TO ANOTHER, AND 600 FOR ACTUATOR. I HAVE ONLY HAD MY JEEP SERVICED AT JEEP DEALERS AND IT HAS ALWAYS HAD ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE ON TIME. I FEEL THAT THE SOFTWARE THAT WAS INSTALLED ON MY JEEP HAS CAUSED ALL THESE ISSUES. DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENTIRE DASH BOARD LIT UP, BLANK A FEW TIMES, AND THEN WENT DARK. NOTHING ON THE DASH BOARD WAS WORKING (NO MPH, GAS GAUGE, ETC.). AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF BLINKING AND GOING DARK, EVERYTHING BEGINS TO WORK AGAIN, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THIS EXACT SCENARIO HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. USUALLY THE LIGHT WILL STAY ON FROM ANYWHERE BETWEEN 1-5 DAYS AND THEN GO AWAY. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR OVER A YEAR. IN ONCE INSTANCE, I WAS DRIVING AROUND THE CITY GOING 10-15 MPH AND THIS SCENARIO HAPPENED AND THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THE CAR WAS VERY HARD TO TURN. THEN IN AUGUST 2013 RECEIVED A SECOND RECALL NOTICE EXPLAINING THAT THE SOFTWARE IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL TO BE RESOLVED. ALL I HAVE TO DO IS GO TO A CHRYSLER/DODGE/JEEP DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THE SOFTWARE REPROGRAM THE FINAL DRIVE CONTROLLER MODULE.ON AUGUST 13/2013 I HAD THE RECALL SERVICED AT JOHNSON DODGE DEALERSHIP IN BUDD LAKE NJ ( 481 RT 46 BUDD LAKE NJ 07828). THEY DID SERVICE MY VEHICLE FOR SAID RECALL. THE NEXT DAY AND EVERYDAY SINCE I HAVE A WARNING LIGHT ON MY DASH STATING""SERVICE 4WD SYSTEM". I READ THE CAR MANUAL AND DID SOME TROUBLE SHOOTING, BUT LIGHT STILL ON. I TRIED TO PUT VEHICLE INTO 4WD LO, AS INSTRUCTED BY THE CAR MANUAL. RESULT, IS DOESN'T GO INTO 4WD LO, WARNING MESSAGE STILL COMING ON. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT (AUGUST 22/2013) FOR THE SAME DEALER TO INSPECT THIS ISSUE BECAUSE I DO BELIEVE POSSIBLY SOMETHING WAS EITHER DONE INCORRECTLY, OR WRONG SOFTWARE. END RESULT FROM SECOND VISIT TO DEALER IS , MY TRANSFER CASE ACTUATOR NEEDS REPLACING !! ($600 PLUS TAX) . THEY WILL REPLACE IT, BUT I FEEL THE TWO ISSUES ARE RELATED, AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY THE BILL. THE DEALER REINSPECTED ALL ABOVE COMPONENTS AND STATED THE SOFTWARE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY WITH THE ACTUATOR? SO END RESULT IS THEY WANT TO REPLACE THE ACTUATOR. MY ORIGINAL RECALL LETTER SAID I MAY HAVE A FAULT IN THE ACTUATOR, BUT THE SECOND LETTER STATED FOR THE NEW SOFTWARE TO FIX ALL. THE DEALER SAID THATS ALL THEY CAN DO! I HAVE FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION STICKS IN A CERTAIN GEAR EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT THE CORRECT GEAR I AM DRIVING IN. I HAVE FOUND THAT I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER, PUT THE VEHICLE AND PARK SO THAT IT CLEARS BEFORE GOING BACK IN GEAR. I HAVE ALSO FOUND THAT THAT PROCESS DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK, WHEN THAT HAS NOT WORKED, I WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON FOR IT TO SHIFT PROPERLY. I ALSO HAD AN INCIDENT THAT WHILE USING CRUISE CONTROL I WAS GOING UP A HILL SO THE CRUISE CONTROL KICKED IN TO GIVE THE EXTRA BOOST BUT IT DID NOT SHIFT BACK DOWN. I WAS QUICKLY ACCELERATING (ALMOST TO 90 IN ABOUT 5 SECONDS) AND BEING CLOSE TO REACHING 5RPMS I HAD TO TURN OFF CRUISE CONTROL AND SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL FOR IT TO STOP ACCELERATING. DUE TO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED IT WAS NOT COVERED. I HAVE TALKED TO A FEW MECHANICS AND THEY ALL HAVE SAID THEY HAVE REPLACED MULTIPLE RECENTLY. WHEN TALKING TO JEEP HEADQUARTERS, THEY STATED THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN REPORTED AS A DEFECTIVE ITEM. I WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT NHTSA TO REPORT THIS IN HOPES THAT OTHER HAVE DONE SO SO THAT JEEP IS REQUIRED TO MAKE THIS A RECALL ITEM. THE GEAR LIGHTS LIT UP AND I HAD TO MANUALLY SHIFT IT BACK INTO AUTOMATIC. THE DEALERSHIP SCANNED THE CODE & DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A BAD SHIFTER CONTROL MODULE. THEY SAID I COULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT FOR A WHILE BUT IT WOULD EVENTUALLY NEED REPLACED. ESTIMATED COST FOR PART $747(EXCLUDING $78 IN LABOR). DROVE IT BUT REALIZED THAT IT WAS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY, MANY TIMES ON THE HIGHWAYS TRAVELING AT FAST SPEEDS. ALMOST WRECKED SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE THE PART MALFUNCTIONED WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN WHEN THE ROADS WERE SNOW COVERED & ICY. THIS IS A SERIOUS & POTENTIALLY FATAL SAFETY PROBLEM FOR MYSELF & OTHERS ON THE ROAD THAT REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. I AM UNCERTAIN AS TO WHY CHRYSLER HAS NOT RECALLED THIS PART OR ATLEAST LOOKED INTO IT. I REPORTED IT TO CHRYSLER ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THEY HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE COMPLAINT. ?? THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BEEN SLIPPING. I HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND I WAS TOLD IT IS OK. THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER, I TAKE OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT AND MY ENGINE REVS TO 3000 RPM AND I AM LOSING SPEED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. SO I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. THEY CHECK IT OUT AND TELL ME IT IS THE ELECTRONICS IN THE SHIFTER THAT IS BAD. I ASK WHAT IS WRONG AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR TAKES ME TO THE MECHANIC. HE TELLS ME ABOUT THE ISSUE AND SAYS THAT THEY HAVE SEEN ALOT OF THESE ISSUES AND THE BACK ORDER ON THE PART IS 450 PARTS IN THE NEGATIVE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY LUNGE FORWARD. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY FAIL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED THE TCM. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS REFERRED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT IF THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE DID NOT PROVIDE ANY CODES, THEY COULD NOT SUCCESSFULLY REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,000.

I WAS RECENTLY DRIVING ON RESIDENTIAL ROAD GOING ABOUT 35MPH UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS AND THE AUTOMATIC JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 2006 STALLS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS. PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL WILL REV THE ENGINE BUT IT IS LIKE THE JEEP IS IN NEUTRAL. EVERYTHING ELSE SEEMS TO WORK ACCEPT THE CAR IS NOT IN ANY GEAR. THE DASHBOARD INDICATES THE CAR IS IN DRIVE. I HAVE TO COAST OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURN THE IGNITION OFF BEFORE RESTARTING, THEN THE CAR SEEMS TO RUN FINE FOR AWHILE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES OVER THE LAST MONTH. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK THE CAR INTO A LOCAL JEEP DEALER WHERE THEY COULD ONLY FINE OLD CODES IN THE JEEP COMPUTER SYSTEM NOTING INACTIVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WHICH THEY SINCE CLEARED AND WERE UNABLE TO DO MUCH ELSE. AN ERROR CODE FOR THE O2 SENSOR WAS ALSO FOUND AND THE O2 SENSOR WAS REPLACED. I WAS TOLD TO TRY IT OUT AND LET THEM KNOW IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THAT WAS ABOUT 10 DAYS AGO. WE PURCHASED IN OCT. 2006,A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4, V6 WITH 5 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION, VIN [XXX]. THERE IS A SAFETY PROBLEM RELATED TO THIS VEHICLE AND TRANSMISSION. PROBLEM: THE VEHICLE HAS NO HILL HOLDING CAPABILITIES. IN OTHER WORDS, WHEN STOPPED ON A HILL, THE BRAKE MUST BE HELD ON WITH YOUR LEFT FOOT AND YOUR RIGHT FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL IN ORDER TO MOVE FORWARD WITH OUT THE VEHICLE DRIFTING BACKWARD. ABOUT 1 WEEK AFTER THE REPAIRS THEY MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN AND WHERE FIXED AGAIN ONLY TO MALFUNCTION 2 MORE TIMES AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS AND CLEARED THE CODES. AT THE 3000 MILE SERVICE THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK ON THE FRONT CRANK SEAL WHICH WAS REPLACED. IT HAS ALSO BEEN IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES DUE TO AN ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT IN WHICH CASE THERE WAS A MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WHERE NO PROBLEMS AND CLEARED THE CODE EVERY TIME ONLY FOR IT TO COME BACK ON. I JUST PICKED MY VEHICLE UP FROM THE DEALER AGAIN BECAUSE THE CRANK PULLEY AND DAMPENER WHERE WOBBLING REAL BAD AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN FOR THE SAME REASON. ALL REPAIRS WHERE MADE AND AFTER I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP 15 MILES DOWN THE ROAD THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS WHEN I'M STOPPED AND SHIFTS REAL HARD.
