I GOT IN A HEAD ON COLLISION ON JULY 11 IN THE CITY OF PARAMOUNT . I WAS AT A RED LIGHT MAKING A LEFT AS SOON AS IT TURN GREEN I WENT INTO MOTION LOST CONTROL MAKING A WIDE LEFT TURN AND WENT INTO THE SIDE WALK. I HIT A CEMENT TRASH CAN AND A CEMENT WALL AS WELL NONE OF MY AIR BAGS CAME OUT . BOTH INSURANCE AND THE BODY SHOP WHERE THE JEEP IS NOW STATED THAT IT WAS ODD THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T COME OUT . THEY STATED THAT THE HIT WAS BIG AND THE BAGS SHOULD HAVE CAME OUT . I HIT FRONT ON MY WHOLE FRONT END WAS DAMAGED BUMPER, LIGHTS , GRILL .I HIT MY FACE IN THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING MY LIP TO BUST OPEN AND I HIT MY HEAD AS WELL IN THE TOP LEFT SIDE HANDLE. MY INSURANCE NOTED THAT THE VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO FRAME DAMAGE .I DIDN'T GO TO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE OF THE MAX CAPACITY SO I'VE BEEN TAKING OVER THE COUNTER PILLS FOR MY BACK , HEAD AND SHOULDER PAIN I ALSO BEEN SEEN A NATURALIST FOR MY MUSCLE SPASMS.
MY VEHICLE CUTS OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING SOME DAY'S ON THE HIGHWAY AND HANDLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS BROKEN SO I CAN'T GET OUT OF TRUCK WITHOUT PUTTING WINDOW DOWN AND OPENING FROM THE OUTSIDE LIFT GATE GLASS COMES OPEN ON IT OWN AND IT SPEED AND RPM GOES UP ON IT OWN WITH THE CAR CRANKED AND NOT BEING DRIVEN

SAME PROBLEM WARRANTY RAN OUT AFTER 60 DAYS..GOT DIAGNOSTIC FROM ADVANCED AUTO CODE STATED MISFIRED CYLINDERS...RETURNED AGAIN CLAIM THEY WOULD FIX AFTER THIS I WOULD HAVE TO PAY...CURRENTLY RUMBLING NOISE FROM BACK OF MY CAR TOOK TO WILLIAMSTON AUTO REPAIR GOT DIAGNOSTIC ON LIFT WAS TOLD HAD FOUR MISFIRED CYLINDERS N THAT CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN WATER. RUST ALL AROUND ENTIRE CAR TO TOUCH PIECES FALLS OFF AND RUST INSIDE CAR.MECHANIC STATED THIS MUST BE A FLOOD CAR.

INNER INTERIOR INSIDE DOOR HANDLES CRACKED MAKING THE DOOR INOPERABLE FROM THE INTERIOR. MY NINE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER CLOSED THE DOOR WITH REGULAR FORCE AND THE INNER DOOR HANDLE CRACKED. UPON TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR, THE PLASTIC COMPLETELY BROKE MAKING THE DOOR INOPERABLE. THIS TRAPPED HER INSIDE AND PREVENTED HER FROM EXITING. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, ANOTHER INNER DOOR HANDLE BROKE ON THE SAME VEHICLE AND CUT MY HAND ON THE SHARP PLASTIC AS I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR. THIS WOULD BE A SERIOUS ISSUE IN AN EMERGENCY. ALL 4 ARE NOW CRACKED OR BROKEN WITH NO EVIDENCE OF EXCESSIVE USE OR IMPROPER USE. NO EXCESSIVE IMPACT TO THE INNER DOOR HANDLES HAS EVER BEEN NOTICED. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM REPORTED BY MANY JEEP OWNERS ON JEEP FORUM WEBSITES.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE LIFT FOR THE TRANSMISSION INSPECTION, THE DEALER'S MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE SKID PLATE WAS DAMAGED, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN A FIRE HAZARD WITH A FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO BOB RICHARDS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1666 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, GRANITEVILLE, SC 29829 (855) 984-5458) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SKID PLATE WAS GONE AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR REPAIRS DUE TO THE LESS EXPENSIVE COST. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND THE IGNITION WOULD INADVERTENTLY TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE WIRING HARNESS AND NOT THE IGNITION SWITCH. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF, IT RESTARTED ITSELF SECONDS LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 152,000.

SLOWLY PULLING UP TO A FOOD MART, I APPLIED BRAKE TO COME TO A NORMAL STOP. JEEP SLOWED SLIGHTLY FOR A BRIEF MOMENT, THEN SUDDENLY AND POWERFULLY ACCELERATED APPROX. 3 FEET FORWARD INTO THE BUILDING WHILE MY FOOT REMAINED FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE, CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLE AND STOREFRONT. A DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW, THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THE ACCELLERATION PROBLEM IT HAS OCCURRED (LOCAL AUTHORIZED DEALER THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED). I'VE SINCE FOUND MANY INSTANCES ONLINE WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT THING - SOME OF WHICH RESULTED IN FATALITIES. THE CAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT WAS TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE, AND SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELLERATION (SUA) - AN ISSUE WHICH FORMER CONNECTICUT ATTORNEY GENERAL (AND CURRENT SENATOR) HAS URGED GENERAL MOTORS TO ADDRESS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS.

DEALER STATES ALL DOOR PANELS MUST BE REPLACED AT PART COST OF $450 EACH (INSTALL EXTRA) - THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT GIVEN THAT ALL FOUR DOORS HAVE DONE THIS AND THERE ARE MANY INTERNET THREADS ABOUT THE ISSUE.

THIS ISSUE WAS ORIGINALLY ADDRESSED AT AN ORIGINAL COMPLAINT SUBMISSION DATED BACK A YEAR AGO BUT THE ISSUE ON THE DOOR HANDLES WAS NEVER ADDRESSED. THIS VEHICLE IS USED TO CARPOOL KIDS TO/FROM SCHOOL AND ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO, A FRIEND OF MY DAUGHTER'S HAD HURT (PINCHED) HIS HAND TRYING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THIS MAY SEEM TO BE A SMALL MATTER, BUT AS A PARENT DRIVING KIDS TO/FROM SCHOOL AND SCHOOL EVENTS, I CANNOT JUST WAIT FOR AN "EMERGENCY" TO OCCUR BEFORE TAKING ACTION. THIS MAY NOT BE ELECTRICAL OR ENGINE RELATED BUT AS I SEE IT, DOORS ARE USED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND IN THE EVENT THAT THERE'S AN EMERGENCY, I WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT MY FAMILY (AND OTHER PASSENGERS) CAN SAFELY EXIT THE VEHICLE. AS STATED IN THE ORIGINAL STATEMENT/COMPLAINT, I HAVE HAD TO LET MY DAUGHTER GET OUT OF THE CAR BY OPENING THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FOR HER. THESE HANDLES SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN DUE TO ITS NORMAL USE BUT BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE OR LOWER QUALITY ITEM USED FOR THESE DOOR HANDLES, IT IS NOW A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE ON THESE JEEPS AND I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IF YOUR OFFICE COULD REVIEW THIS ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER/JEEP AS SUCH EQUIPMENT/ITEM SHOULD NOT HAVE PASSED QUALITY INSPECTION. WHEN SHE WAS DRIVING UP THE RAMP TO EXIT THE GARAGE, THE JEEP SHUT OFF ON HER AND IT ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN THE RAMP INTO A BUILDING SUPPORT PILLAR. THIS CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE BACK BUMPER AND TAILLIGHT. WE WERE LUCKY NOBODY WAS HURT OR BEHIND HER WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WHEN I DRIVE THE JEEP IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN. WHEN I LEAVE FOR WORK IN THE MORNING AND ARRIVE AT THE FIRST STOP LIGHT, THE JEEP WILL SHUT OFF. SOMETIMES IT TURNS GREEN AT THE SAME TIME SO I HAVE TO SHIFT BACK TO NEUTRAL TO START UP, MAKING SOME PEOPLE MISS THE GREEN. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, ALL 3 OF THE OTHER DOORS HAVE THE SAME CRACKS IN THE DOOR PANEL - IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE PLASTIC ON THOSE CRACKS AND CHIPS OFF, AND THOSE DOOR HANDLES ALSO BREAK OFF. DURING THE MONTH OF MAY 2011 THE PLASTIC INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE RECESSES BEGAN TO CRACK AND ULTIMATELY THE PIECES LITERALLY BEGAN TO FALL OF THE VEHICLE RENDERING THE DOOR HANDLES USELESS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM INSIDE AS DOOR HANDLES NO LONGER HAD A PIVOT POINT TO OPERATE AGAINST WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PULL THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE IN AN EFFORT TO OPERATE THE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM. THIS FAILURE MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE SHORT OF ROLLING DOWN THE POWER WINDOWS AND PULLING ON THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. SUBSEQUENTLY CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED AND AFTER SEVERAL EXCHANGES WITH TWO DIFFERENT CASE MANAGERS, ON THE 21ST OF JUNE I WAS TOLD BY THE PRESIDING CASE MANAGER THAT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 80,000 MILES ON IT AND HAD BEEN OUT OF WARRANTY FOR SO LONG (2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LARADO) CHRYSLER WOULD DO NOTHING. *KB

I BROUGHT IN THE VEHICLE ON MARCH 22 TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER WHERE IT WAS TROUBLESHOOT WITH RE-SECURING THE WEATHER STRIP ABOVE WINDSHIELD AND A GASKET IN THE SUNROOF WAS REPLACED (TSB 23 040 06). HOWEVER 2 DAYS LATER THE LEAK OCCURRED AGAIN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVER SIDE (ABOVER THE DRIVER, MYSELF) IN WHICH IT DOES TAKE YOUR FOCUS OFF THE ROAD AS WATER DRIPS ON YOUR LEGS/KNEE. THE LEAK HAS YET TO BE RESOLVED, AS VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN A SECOND TIME ON MARCH 28 AND NO CONFIRMED TROUBLE-SHOOT WAS COMPLETED AS I RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE BACK ON MARCH 31ST WITH A THEORY OF THE LEAK EITHER COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD OR THE SUNROOF. THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS SAID THEY WOULD CALL BACK ONCE MORE DETAIL WAS INVESTIGATED BY THE MANAGER HOWEVER I NEVER RECEIVED ONCE CALL-BACK. I REFUSED TO ORDER THE UNIT SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN, AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY MY SERVICE CONTRACT. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER GROUP, LLC AND WAS TOLD THAT "HANDLES AND PLASTIC PARTS ARE NOT COVERED"...THE HANDLE ISN'T BROKEN, THE PANEL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. I FEEL THIS IS A GENUINE SAFETY CONCERN AND URGE THE NHTSA TO ENFORCE A RECALL FROM JEEP. IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT, MY PASSENGERS WOULD BE TRAPPED!! TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: THIS MORNING I WENT OUTSIDE TO MY 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED, TO PACK IT UP FOR THE DAY. I OPENED THE BACK LIFT GATE AND BEGAN TO LOAD ITEMS. AS I WAS LOADING STUFF, THE LIFT GATE CAME CRASHING DOWN ON THE TOP OF MY HEAD, WITH NO RESISTANCE. IT HIT SO HARD THAT FOR A MOMENT, I WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. I TRIED TO LIFT IT OFF OF MYSELF, AND IT BOUNCED BACK OFF MY HEAD AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY GOT MYSELF INTO THE HOUSE TO SEEK HELP. THE PAIN WAS UNBEARABLE AND I HAD TINGLING IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY FACE AND NECK, AND BURNING AND THROBBING PAIN IN MY HEAD AND RIGHT EAR. I WAS IMMEDIATELY RUSHED TO THE DR'S OFFICE AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE A CONTUSION, WITH BLEEDING IN THE MUSCLE AND SYMPTOMS SIMILAR TO A CONCUSSION. I DID NOT LOSE CONSCIOUSNESS, BUT AM SUFFERING ALL SYMPTOMS. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP ICE ON THE AREA AND TAKE TYLENOL FOR THE PAIN. I NEED TO BE KEPT UNDER OBSERVATION FOR THE NEXT 24 HRS BY MY FAMILY. I OWN A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4 LIMITED. WITHIN THE PAST TWO WEEKS ALL FOUR OF THE AIR VENT KNOBS THAT CONTROL THE FLOW OF AIR BOTH UP AND DOWN AND SIDE TO SIDE ON THE DASHBOARD FELL OFF. WE BOUGHT AN 04' JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AT JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE OF WARWICK, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON. WE TOOK IT DOWN FOR SERVICE AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE GAS CAP. THE LIGHT STILL CAME ON AND HAD A HARD TIME STARTING. WE TRADED IT IN AT THE SAME PLACE 1 MONTH LATER FOR AN 06 JEEP WITH 15,000 MILES ON IT. SHORTLY AFTER THIS PURCHASE THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE STARTED MAKING HORRIBLE NOISES. WE TOOK IT FOR SERVICE AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO MAKE THAT NOISE. AFTER THAT THE BATTERY DIED AND THEY TOWED IT THERE AND REPLACED THE BATTERY. NOW WE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE JEEP STALLING OUT WHEN WE ARE PARKED OR AT AN IDLE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HAS CAME LOOSE FROM THE WELD BREAKING. NOW IT IS HITTING THE FRONT QUARTER PANEL AND IS CHIPPING PAINT. ALL FOUR DOORS ARE COMING AWAY FROM THE WELDS CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD TO ALL OF THE PASSENGERS. WE BROUGHT IT DOWN FOR THE DEALER TO LOOK AT THE DOORS AND THEY KEPT PUTTING US OF BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE A LONER CAR, OR THAT THE MANAGER WAS NOT THERE, OR THAT THERE BODY SHOP WAS NOT AVAILABLE. NOW THEY SAY THAT WE NEVER BROUGHT IT DOWN TO SHOW THEM. EVERY TIME WE BROUGHT IT TO THEM THEY NEVER PUT IT IN THE SHOP AND MADE EXCUSES FOR ALL OF THE PROBLEMS. THEY NEVER PUT IN THERE COMPUTER THAT WE CAME TO THEM, WITH THESE PROBLEMS AND DENY THAT WE HAD ANY. THE ONE TIME WHEN THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY WE PICKED IT UP WITH ALMOST 150 EXTRA MILES ON IT. WE HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY UNHAPPY WITH THE DEALERS SERVICE AND THE QUALITY OF THE VEHICLE ITSELF. *JB

DUE TO THE FIXED FORWARD TILTING HEAD RESTRAINT ON THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIT A CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT IN THE OUTBOARD POSITIONS OF THE REAR SEAT. PLACING MORE THAN ONE CHILD RESTRAINT IN THIS VEHICLE IN THE FORWARD FACING POSITION IS IMPOSSIBLE. *TR
PURCHASED A NEW 2006 GRAND CHROKEE. AFTER I REACHING 1,200 MILES THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUDDER OR SURGE, ALMOST FEELING LIKE A MISS. THIS MAY HAPPEN AT ANY SPEED, AND IN ANY DRIVING CONDITION, BUT ESPECIALLY BETWEEN 35-60 MPH. BELIEVE IT OR NOT IT WAS WORSE WHEN IT WAS CLOUDY AND COOL OR DAMP. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING THAT I KNEW TO GET THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER TO REPAIR THIS. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP OR DOWN THERE BEING TEST DRIVEN AND CODES TAKEN 8 TIMES. THEY TRY TO TELL ME THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. NO WAY!!!! THIS WAS EXTREMELY ANNOYING, REDUCED THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE AND MY FAITH IN IT. THE DEALER, AND THE MANUFACTURER. , AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2005 MODEL FOR SOMETHING VERY SIMILAR. THE CAUSE WAS MOISTURE ENTERING THE TRANSMISSION FILL TUBE AND CAUSING THE TORQUE CONVERTER TO SHUDDER. ALSO, THERE WERE SOME ENGINE FIRES DUE TO THIS. I ASKED FOR A TRADE FOR A NEW VEHICLE AND BOTH REFUSED. SO NOW I AM ABOUT TO APPLY FOR LEMON LAW OR ARBITRATION, OR WHAT I AM ALLOWED BY LAW FOR BUYB ACK. I HAVE ALSO NOTIFIED OUR LOCAL MEDIA, ATTORNEY GENERAL AND BBB. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT ELSE I NEED TO DO!*AK

TWO ISSUES. 1. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS ON THE VEHICLE ARE NOT DESIGNED TO STAY OPEN. THEY RETURN WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE AND HAVE DINGED ANKLES SEVERAL TIMES. ANYONE MORE FRAIL WILL HAVE A CRACKED ANKLE. 2. THE HORN IS TOO DIFFICULT TO ACTIVATE. *NM
