I was driving and wrecked into a sign because I was unable to stop and the vehicle caught on fire under the hood.
I was pulling into the gas station to get some gas. I'm used to use a 2-ft drive so what I could not lift my left foot to put pressure on the brake I used my right foot. It slipped off the brake and after the accelerator and I hit a small Pole stopping me from going into the gas station front door. Just could have been raised up to a work accident I had a couple weeks prior.
2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L when driving on roadway the rpm go up down and then the Jeep shot off and then put the vehicle in neutral and turn the key start and the vehicle up and when driving again and the start again and took the vehicle to Jeep dealer and there don’t find anything wrong.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while at a stop sign and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The battery was previously replaced. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the contact was made aware of a faulty ignition switch. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who informed the contact that the wires were loose. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.

WHILE DRIVING THE JEEP ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH LOST ALL POWER WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AFTER A MINUTE IT RESTARTED IT HAS DONE IT NUMEROUS TIMES SOMETIMES SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT SOMETIMES DRIVING 25 MPH THROUGH TOWN THERE IS NO WARNING NO DASH SIGNS OF ANYTHING WRONG VEHICLE JUST SHUT OFF LOSE ALL POWER TERRIFYING TOOK IT TO A JEEP DEALER COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM ALSO THE RADIO PLAYS AND THE DASH DISPLAY DOES NOT LIGHT UP MY POWER WINDOWS WILL GO UP AND DOWN BY THEMSELVES AND END UP HALFWAY. I ONLY BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR SHORT DISTANCES BECAUSE OF THE FEAR OF DEATH LOSE BREAKING AND STEERING. HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUES ON THE INTERNET WHY IS THIS VEHICLE ALLOWED TO BE ON THE ROAD

JEEP IS HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES. IT WILL RANDOMLY GO INTO LIMP MODE AT START, BUT TURNING IT OFF AND RESTARTING IT FIXES THAT ISSUE. IT'S DONE THIS THREE TIMES IN THE 2 YEARS WE HAVE HAD IT. I AM NOW HAVING AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WHERE SOMETHING IS CAUSING A DRAW ON THE BATTERY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR, STARTER, AND NOW THE BATTERY.IT IS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO SWELL, AND THE JEEP IS HAVING TO BE JUMPED TO START MULTIPLE TIMES A WEEK. THE BATTERY WAS PUT ON A DEEP CHARGE, AND IT HAD TO BE JUMPED THE NEXT DAY. ALSO THE AIR CONDITIONING BACK LIGHTING GOES OFF AND ON WHEN YOU TURN THE KNOBS OR ADJUST THE FAN SPEED WHILE BOTH DRIVING AND STATIONARY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ROUGHLY A MONTH.

THIS HAPPENS STATIONARY AND ALSO AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 20 MINUTES TO DESTINATION AND WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE IT TOOK SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE STARTING. THIS HAPPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY ONLY THIS TIME AS WE PREPARED TO MAKE OUR TURN THE VEHICLE TOTALLY SHUT OFF, ALLOWING ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING WE WERE FORTUNATE NO ONE WAS BEHIND US OR PULLING OUT WHERE WE WERE TURNING . WE WOULD HAVE EITHER BEEN REAR ENDED OR WOULD HAVE RUN INTO ANY CAR WAITING TO TURN.

JEEP DEALER TOLD US IT COULD BE THE WIRING HARNESS...WHICH WE CANT FIND ANYWHERE.

ON LINE THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF JEEP OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE. I CALLED JEEP BUT THEY SAID CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY SO TOUGH LUCK. I HAVE OWNED 23 CARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR DO THIS TO ME. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE DRIVEN THIS CAR WITH THE SAME ISSUES. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON RURAL STREETS.

THE ENGINE DIED GOING 70MPH ON THE HWY WITH OUT ANY NOTICE. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AS STEERING LOCKED UP, ONCE ON SIDE OF ROAD, I PUT IT INTO 'PARK' AND 'RESTARTED THE ENGINE'. IT WORKED JUST FINE FROM THEN ON, TILL ABOUT 3 MONTHS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT AND TURNING RIGHT, I BARELY WAS ABLE TO GET THRU THE LIGHT AND TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AS THE STEERING HAD AGAIN LOCKED UP. THIS IS VERY SCARY! EVERYTHING IN THE CAR TURNS 'OFF', I DONT EVEN THINK THE FLASHERS WORKED DURING THESE TIMES. ONCE AT A COMPLETE STOP, AND AFTER PUTTING INTO 'PARK', EVERYTHING STARTS BACK UP NORMALLY, AND DRIVES FINE. THERE IS NOT ANY OTHER SIGNS OF ANYTHING WRONG, NO DASH LIGHT WARNINGS OR ANYTHING.

AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES ON THE INTERSTATE I STOPPED AND WENT INTO A STORE. WHEN I CAME BACK OUT IN 5-10 MINUTES AND ATTEMPTED TO STARTED IT, THE ENGINE FELT AS THOUGH IT WERE "JUMPING". HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID IT HAD DROPPED A VALVE SEAT. CHRYSLER DETERMINED THAT IT HAPPENED BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN OVERHEATED. HOWEVER THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO OVERHEAT CODES IN THE COMPUTER. THE GAUGES HAVE NEVER READ HOT. IT WAS NOT LOW ON COOLANT. THEY STATED THAT THERE WERE NO LEAKS. IT WAS NEVER HOT.

THIS VEHICLE HAS A 5.7 LITER HEMI V-8. IT CURRENTLY HAS AN EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAK BECAUSE JEEP USES CHEAP SCREWS TO MOUNT THE MANIFOLD TO THE ENGINE BLOCK. AS SUCH, THE SCREWS SNAP CAUSING A LEAK. THIS IS A WELL KNOW PROBLEM FOR THIS ENGINE BUT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT AND THE REPAIRS WILL BE A MINIMUM OF $500. NEVER BUY A JEEP!

THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY PLACED THE CONTACT ON A WAITING LIST FOR THE PART, BUT DID NOT SPECIFY WHAT NUMBER THE CONTACT WAS PLACED ON THE LIST. WHILE WAITING FOR THE PART, A FAILURE PROGRESSED THAT CAUSED THE KEY NOT TO TURN OVER TO START THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD SEVEN TSBS ON THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AT ABOUT 124,000 MILES. LUCKILY IN THE DRIVEWAY WHERE I HAD PARKED THE CAR AFTER RUNNING NORMAL ERRANDS. THE CAR WOULD NOT START UP AGAIN AND HAD TO BE TOWED SINCE THE BATTERY WAS NEW AND THE STARTER SEEMED FROZEN. I TOOK EXCELLENT CARE OF THIS CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP AND AT A TOP LOCAL GARAGE SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. I WAS STUNNED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED WITHOUT ANY NOTICE, NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO NOISE, NOTHING. THE LOCAL MECHANIC SAW "CHUNKS OF METAL" IN THE PAN. I NOW NEED A COMPLETELY NEW ENGINE 5 WEEKS AFTER AN OIL CHANGE DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW IN MY JEEP HEMI ENGINE. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY LETTER OR NOTIFICATION ABOUT THIS APPARENTLY WELL KNOWN AND RELATIVELY COMMON PROBLEM. I HAD EVERY RECALL PERFORMED ON THIS CAR. THERE WAS NEVER A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM WHICH APPARENTLY INCLUDES THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP WAS THAT THE HEMI IS A GOOD ENGINE. REALLY??? NO APOLOGIES, NO CALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. OUT OF WARRANTY, SO IT IS JUST TOO BAD FOR ME AS A CUSTOMER. THEY KNOW THE DESIGN FLAW EXISTS BUT DON'T CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER. JUST THEIR BOTTOM LINE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.

THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I RECEIVE A LETTER ON THE MAIL FROM JEEP NAMED AS "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL INFORMATION" STATING THAT MY CAR HAS BEEN RECALLED DUE TO A DEFECT RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY, MORE SPECIFICALLY: UNINTENDED CHANGE IN IGNITION SWITCH POSITION THAT IMPLIES A SAFETY RISK. I WENT ON THE SAFECAR.GOV SITE TO CONFIRM THE STATUS OF MY RECALL AND IT SAYS THAT THERE IS A RECALL IN EFFECT ON MY CAR MODEL BUT UNFORTUNATELY JEEP DOESN'T HAVE THE PART REPLACEMENT YET. I WANT THIS PROBLEM FIXED ASAP.

I OWN A 07 GRAND CHEROKEE WITH A 5.7L V8 HEMI. I LOVED THAT TRUCK AND TOOK GREAT CARE OF IT. NEARLY 10 MONTHS AGO I HAD A VALVE SEAT DROP WITHOUT WARNING AT 92K MILES AND NOW I NEED A NEW ENGINE. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE AND I KEPT VERY GOOD CARE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER DRIVING FOR 15 MINUTES I STOPPED AT A STORE TO GET MATERIALS, WHEN I RETURNED AND TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WOULDN'T TURN OVER. IT HASN'T STARTED SINCE THAT DAY. IT WAS TOWED TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND $150 LATER THEY LET ME KNOW WHAT THEY "THOUGHT" THE ISSUE WAS, BUT I WAS STILL INFORMED THE ONLY WAY TO CONFIRM I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE WAS TO CHARGE ME $1,500 TO TAKE THE ENGINE APART AND "DIAGNOSE" THE ISSUE, NOT FIX IT. THEY KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND STILL TRIED TO CHARGE ME FOR IT. ON TOP OF THAT EVERY CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE AND MAINTENANCE PERSON I'VE TALKED TO ABOUT THIS ISSUE (4) HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL, TO THE POINT OF BEING RUDE. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER, I WAS QUOTED NEARLY $8,000 FOR A NEW ENGINE AND THEY CAN'T EVEN GUARANTEE THE ISSUE WON'T OCCUR AGAIN SINCE THEY HAVE THE SAME PARTS. PICKED UP THE JEEP TWO DAYS AGO FROM DEALERSHIP WHO HAD IT 18 DAYS TRYING TO FIX IT (3RD TIME)AND THE FIRST TRIP THAT DAY RESULTED IN ANOTHER OCCURRENCE OF THE SAME PROBLEM.

WHEN THE VEHICLE DOES STALL I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, TURN THE IGNITION OFF, THEN RESTART BY TURNING THE IGNITION BACK ON AND PUTTING THE VEHICLE BACK IN DRIVE. I DID HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED FOR RECALL P41 / NHTSA 14V-438 WHICH WAS TO RESOLVE ISSUES WITH LOSS OF POWER DURING DRIVING BUT NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES HAVE BEEN NOTICED SINCE THE REPAIR. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ABOUT THE LAST THREE YEARS WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR MULTIPLE TIMES, BESIDE THE RECALL REPAIR, WHILE UNDER WARRANTY BUT NEVER FIXED. THIS ISSUE IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND FAMILY AS THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE ENTERING ONTO THE HIGHWAY OR DURING HIGHWAY TRAVEL. COMPLAINT SUBMITTED IN REGARD TO FCA US LLC RECALL P41 NHTSA 14V-438 FIRST COMPLAINT FILED 12/12/2014 ODI NUMBER: 10663969 ON 8/19/2015, I WAS AT THE MUKWONAGO POST OFFICE TO SEND A PACKAGE. I CAME BACK OUT TO MY VEHICLE, STARTED IT AND ATTEMPTED TO BACK OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. ANOTHER CAR WAS ON ITS WAY DOWN THE PARKING ISLE I WAS PARKED IN AND ALMOST HIT ME BECAUSE THE DRIVER WAS ANTICIPATING THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE KEPT MOVING. I GOT OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND APOLOGIZED TO THE YOUNG LADY WHO HAD ALMOST HIT ME AND EXPLAINED TO HER THE SITUATION. SHE SAID, "YOU SHOULD REALLY GET THAT FIXED. YOU COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT." I WAS UPSET, TO SAY THE LEAST, BUT NEEDED TO GET BACK TO WORK. I STARTED MY VEHICLE TWO MORE TIMES, IN ADDITION TO THE FIRST ATTEMPT, AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT IT IN GEAR - NO SUCCESS. FINALLY, I WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING AND PROCEED TO MY ROUTE.

PULLED OFF TO SIDE OF FREEWAY RAMP TURNED OFF KEY AND RESTARTED. CAR SHUT OFF AFTER STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION STOP SIGN. AFTER CLEANING TRAFFIC PUSHED GAS PEDDLE TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH 50 MPH SPEED LIMIT. CAR SHUT OFF AGAIN. WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SHOULDER OF ROAD AVOIDING ONCOMING AND APPROACHING TRAFFIC. SHUT OFF KEY AND RESTARTED. MERGED INTO APPROACHING TRAFFIC. RECEIVED RECALL IN SEPT 2014. HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE CONTINUALLY. THEY CONTINUE TO ADVISE THEY HAVE NO PARTS TO REPAIR RECALL DEFECT AND THEREFORE CANNOT MAKE A RECALL REPAIR APPOINTMENT. I FEEL THEY ARE PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH MY LIFE AND THOSE OF OTHERS ON THE ROAD WHO MAY STRIKE MY DISABLED CAR AFTER IGNITION SHUT OFF.

I HAD JUST PULLED ONTO A 4 LANE HIGHWAY WHEN THE RPM'S STARTED RACING BUT THE JEEP DID NOT ACCELERATE IT INSTEAD LOSS ALL POWER. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND JUST THE JEEP OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND CALLED THE SERVICE GARAGE THE NEXT MORNING AND THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE THE SECURITY SYSTEM HAD SHUT DOWN THE JEEP. IT HAS SINCE DID THAT AT LEAST 10 MORE TIMES AND SO FAR EVERY TIME IT HAS BEEN AS SOON AS I PULL OUT, WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I AM TRAVELLING AT 75 MPH AND IT LOSES POWER ON A CROWDED FREEWAY. I RECENTLY LEARNED THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT BUT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPTEMBER. RECALL NUMBER 14V-438.AND I NO WAY BELIEVE THAT IT IS CAUSED BY MY KNEE HITTING THE IGNITION SWITCH, THAT IS NOT EVEN POSSIBLE.

MY HUSBAND AND I WERE TRAVELING TO CHARLESTON, SC ON I-26 TO HAVE A NICE VALENTINE'S WEEKEND. EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL WE MERGED ONTO I-26 IN COLUMBIA, SC, WHEN WE FELT A SMALL JOLT IN THE TRUCK LIKE IT WAS HESITATING OR SOMETHING. SO WE DISMISSED IT AS MAYBE BAD GAS OR SOMETHING. IT HAPPENED A COUPLE MORE TIMES AND AS WE WERE PASSING A REST AREA OUTSIDE OF ORANGEBURG, SC IN THE LEFT LANE GOING WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AT ABOUT 80 MPH, THE WHOLE TRUCK JUST SHUT DOWN. NO POWER STEERING AND THE CAR WILL NOT CRANK IN NEUTRAL. TRAFFIC IS PRETTY HEAVY ON A HOLIDAY WEEKEND, AND I HAVE TRACTOR TRAILER BESIDE ME AND BEHIND ME ON A TWO LANE INTERSTATE. TRYING NOT TO PANIC, I PUT ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND WAVING OUT THE WINDOW LIKE CRAZY TRYING TO GET THESE TRUCK DRIVER'S ATTENTION, THANK GOD THEY NOTICED AND THE ONE BESIDE ME SPED UP AND MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GET OVER BY THE EXIT OF THE REST AREA. AFTER THANKING GOD FOR OUR LIVES, WE DECIDED TO TRY AND MAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP IN ORANGEBURG. WE GET THERE, AND AFTER 2 HOURS THEY SAY IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND A TUNE UP $300 BUCKS AND ANOTHER 2 HOURS WE FINALLY GOT ON OUR WAY. WE MADE IT TO CHARLESTON AND SALVAGED A PRETTY GOOD DAY TRIP CONSIDERING WHAT WE WENT THROUGH, WITH NO PROBLEMS. IT JOLTED ONCE ON THE WAY BACK ABOUT 40 MILES FROM HOME. SO THE NEXT DAY I REMEMBERED WE HAD GOTTEN A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER, AND WHEN WE LOOKED AT IT WE REALIZED THAT THE RECALL WAS THE REAL PROBLEM. THIS LETTER CAME IN SEPTEMBER OF 2013, AND WE HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM SINCE THEN, ALMOST 2 YEARS LATER. ALSO, YOU WOULD THINK THAT A JEEP DEALER WOULD KNOW ABOUT RECALLS ON ALL OF THE VEHICLES THEY SELL WHEN THEY PUT THE VIN IN THE SYSTEM. NOW WE JUST USE THE ONE KEY, STAY CLOSE TO THE RIGHT LANE AND HOPE FOR THE BEST. ANOTHER CAR/PAYMENTS IS NOT AN OPTION.

I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN I ACCIDENTLY TOUCHED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE ENGINE DIED AND I COASTED TO THE ROADSIDE WHERE I RESTARTED THE ENGINE. I HAD RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE SENT BY CHRYSLER AND HAD FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS CONTAINED IN THE NOTICE, SO NOTIFIED THEM OF THE INCIDENT. ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE SAME THING OCCURRED BUT THIS TIME I DID NOT TOUCH THE KEY. THIS TIME IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION AND STARTED TO ACCELERATE INTO A TURN. THE VEHICLE HAD JUST BEGAN TO MOVE WHEN IT DIED. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND COMPLETED THE TRIP. I AGAIN NOTIFIED CHRYSLER WHO DIRECTED ME TO HAVE THE SWITCH REPLACED IMMEDIATELY. THE DEALER THAT I WAS USING TOLD ME THE OLD MODEL REPLACEMENT SWITCH WAS NOT IN STOCK AND UNAVAILABLE AS THE NEW PARTS HAD NOT BEEN PRODUCED AND HE WOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO FIND A REPLACEMENT. I LOCATED A DEALER WHO ORDERED THE OLD DESIGNED PART FROM CHRYSLER STOCK AND REPLACED IT FOR ME. THEY ALSO INSTRUCTED ME TO RETURN WHEN THE NEW PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AS THE WORK DID NOT SATISFY THE RECALL NOTICE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER SOME TIME BACK TO SEE WHEN NEWLY DESIGNED PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE AND THEY STILL HAD NOT RECEIVED THEM. THEY ALSO SAID THEY HAD NO TIME FRAME FOR THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. SINCE THE FIRST EVENT THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED AT THE MOST IMPORTUNED TIME. TWO YEARS AGO IT STALLED TWICE WHILE ENTERING THE NEW JERSEY GARDEN STATE PARKWAY ON THE SAME DAY. A YEAR AGO IT STALLED AT 40 MILES PER HOUR TRAVELING NORTH ON UNIVERSITY BLVD 100 FT FROM THE DEALER KELLY JEEP DEALERSHIP WERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. I WAS MADE AWARE IN JULY 2014 THAT THERE WAS AN IGNITION KEY PROBLEM. BY A LOCAL AUTO BODY REPAIR SHOP OWNER. I REMOVE EVERYTHING FROM KEY EXCEPT A SMALL LIGHTWEIGHT IDENTIFICATION PLASTIC TAG A MONTH AGO IT STALLED AGAIN WHICH TURNING ONTO HIGH SPEED FOUR LANGE EXPRESSWAY. I HAVE CONTACT A DIFFERENT DEALER THREE MONTHS GO AND WAS TOLD CHRYSLER IS WORKING ON THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT IN ALMOST A YEAR CHRYSLER STILL APPEARS TO HAVE NOT INKLING OF OWH TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM PRIOR TO THE PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT IN SEPT 2014 I HAD IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE VEHICLE TESTED BY THE ANALYZER. NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. EVEN THOUGH I AM 90 YEARS OLD I STILL HAVE SUFFICIENT STRENGTH TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A STOP AND IF POSSIBLE TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY IN ORDER TO RESTART IT. BUT I AM AFRAID THAT IF THIS HAPPENS WITH MY WIFE WHILE DRIVING SHE WILL NOT BE HAVE SUFFICIENT STRENGTH TO STEER OF BRAKE THE VEHICLE WHEN IT LOSSES COMPLETE POWER. HOW IS THIS ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE ACCIDENTLY OPERATION OF THE IGNITION KEY EVENT THAT HAS OCCURRED WITH GENERAL MOTOR PRODUCTS. LAST WE I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER REGARDING THE NEED TO RE-PROGRAM THE FINAL DRIVE CONTROL MODULE (FDCM), THAT MAY CAUSE THE SERVICE $WD LIGHT TO BE ACTIVATED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CHANGE GEARS. I OWN A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. I RECEIVED A RECALL ON A PART IN JULY OF 2014. IT IS NOW APRIL 2015. THERE IS STILL NO PART TO REPLACE THIS IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM. I HAVE CHILDREN THAT I NEED TO DRIVE TO AND FROM SCHOOL. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE. MY HUSBAND HAS SEEN NOW AT LEAST 3 VEHICLES (SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR) IN CAR ACCIDENTS. THESE CAR WERE COMPLETELY TOTALED. THERE IS NO FIXING THEM. ONE VEHICLE A CAR BLEW UP BECAUSE THE IGNITION SWITCH. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. ALMOST A YEAR NOW, AND THERE IS STILL NOT PART TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. AND I CAN'T SELL MY VEHICLE TO ANYBODY BECAUSE THEN I COULD BE SUED BECAUSE OF THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL. YOUR JEEP DEALERSHIPS WILL NOT BUY THEM BACK FOR WHAT THEY ARE WORTH BECAUSE OF THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL. I GET BELOW VALUE OFFERS. I WILL NOT BUY JEEP AGAIN. BUT THE FACT THAT JEEP IS TAKING SO LONG TO FIX THIS ISSUE IS RIDICULOUS. WHEN PEOPLE START DYING BECAUSE OF IT, THEN YOU WILL BE SUED FOR THOSE DEATHS BECAUSE THAT IGNITION SWITCH RECALL WAS NOT FIXED IN A DECENT AMOUNT OF TIME. I FIGURED 6 MONTHS MAX. WHILE DRIVING 60 ON THE HIGHWAY, I SUDDENLY HAD NO ACCELERATION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON, THE DASH LIGHTS STAYED THE SAME AS WHILE DRIVING. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED THE KEY OFF, THEN STARTED IT ON THE FIRST TRY. IT THEN DROVE FINE. A WEEK AND A HALF LATER, 3-3-2015, I'M SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN, I ACCELERATE, THE JEEP STARTS TO MOVE FORWARD, THEN AGAIN, LOSES ALL POWER. I PULL OVER, TRY TO START THE JEEP, IT WON'T START. I IMMEDIATELY TRY AGAIN, IT WON'T START. I WAIT ABOUT 20 SECONDS, TRY AGAIN, IT STARTS. DROVE FINE THE REST OF THE NIGHT. BOTH TIMES I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY IN 4-6 LANES OF TRAFFIC! ONE OF THESE TIMES I WON'T BE AS LUCKY AS I HAVE BEEN! THIS IS ONLY A FEW OF THE ONGOING PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH THIS JEEP. FOR A COUPLE YEARS MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL EPISODES OF IGNITION SHUT OFF. I SPOKE WITH MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE WITH JEEP, ONLY SOME DODGE MODELS. I PAID TO HAVE A 2ND COMPUTERIZED KEY MADE AT THE DEALERSHIP, AS DODGE WAS SAYING THEIR ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE DRIVER HAVING OTHER KEYS ON IGNITION KEY RING. THIS WAY I HAD A SINGLE IGNITION KEY. STILL EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE. LAST TIME I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN FROM A SUBDIVISION ON TO A BUSY 2 LANE HWY WITH A POSTED SPEED OF 50 MILES PER HR. IGNITION SHUT OFF AS I STARTED TO CROSS THE RIGHT HAND LANE. FORTUNATELY I HAD ENOUGH FORWARD MOMENTUM TO CLEAR TRAFFIC AND CAME TO REST ON THE LEFT HAND SHOULDER BY A FARMERS FIELD. I FINALLY RECEIVED IN THE MAIL THE OFFICIAL CHRYSLER RECALL NOTICE FOR MY JEEP DUE TO IGNITION SHUT OFF. CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER THIS MORNING TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT, ALTHOUGH THE RECALL SAID THEY WOULD CONTACT ME. WITH SEVERAL INCIDENTS, I FELT TIME WAS CRITICAL. MY DEALER ADVISED ME THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED THE OFFICIAL RECALL NOTIFICATION FROM CHRYSLER AND THEREFORE COULD NOT SCHEDULE THE REPAIR FREE OF CHARGE. IF HOWEVER I WANTED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR THEY COULD SCHEDULE. I ADVISED THEM THAT WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THEN NO PROBLEMS FOR 5 DAYS. NOW AGAIN ITS DOING THE SAME THING EXCEPT I LEFT IT OVER NIGHT AND IT STILL WONT START. I CALLED CHRYSLER AFTER LOOKING ONLINE AND SEEING A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH COMPLAINTS THAT WERE THE SAME AS MINE EXCEPT THESE PEOPLE SPENT THOUSANDS TRYING TO FIX AND REPLACE EVERYTHING YET STILL NO LUCK THEY CONTINUE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. SO THIS IS A VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH JEEP AND EVEN AFTER BRINGING TO JEEP DEALER AND HAVING A DIAGNOSTICS DONE WITH NO PROBLEMS SHOWING UP. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG SUGGESTED REPLACING WIRES, STARTER, SOMETHING IN THE STEERING COLUMN, AND SOME MODULE. I DON'T WANT TO DUMP TONS OF MONEY IN IT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE JUST TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. CHRYSLER APOLOGIZED AND SAID THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. PURCHASED 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND 5.7 HEMI JULY 31, 2007. DECEMBER 1, 2010 MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING ON AN INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN. SHE MANAGED TO PULL THE CAR OFF THE ROAD, STARTED THE ENGINE AND DROVE HOME WITHOUT ANY MORE ISSUES. DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED P0884 CODE FROM THE PCM. HE COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. CAR CONTINUED TO STALL NUMEROUS TIMES AT HIGH SPEED AND SOMETIMES WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. THIS PROBLEM STARTED SHORTLY AFTER THE ENGINE SPARK PLUGS WERE CHANGED. AFTER NUMEROUS PARTS WERE CHANGED AT THE DEALERSHIP, WITH NO RESULTS, THE TECHNICIAN CONTACTED AN ENGINEER FROM THE CHRYSLER COMPANY. DURING AN ON SITE VISIT THE ENGINEER SUSPECTED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE UPPER ENGINE HARNESS RECEIVING AN ELECTRICAL INDUCTION FROM THE ENGINE COILS CAUSING THE PCM TO SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN. THE TECHNICIAN INSTALLED FOIL AROUND THE HARNESS AND WIRE TIED THE HARNESS UP OFF THE CRADLES THEY LAY IN. ENGINE PERFORMED NORMAL WITH NO SHUT DOWNS FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. DECISION WAS MADE TO CHANGE THE UPPER ENGINE HARNESS. SINCE THE HARNESS WAS CHANGED MY JEEP HAS STALLED OUT FOUR MORE TIMES. THE MOST RECENT STALL OCCURRED THE LAST WEEK OF DECEMBER 2012. AFTER THE ACCELERATION DROPPED AND THEN INCREASED THE SECOND TIME, I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN 65 MILES PER HOUR UNTIL I EXITED THE EXPRESSWAY 15 MILES LATER NEAR MY HOME. DRIVING A VEHICLE UNDER THESE CONDITIONS IS A HORRIBLE FEELING! I WAS SO AFRAID THAT A CAR OR TRUCK MOVING AT THE NORMAL SPEED WOULD CRASH INTO ME. MY VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENS WHILE AT IDLE AT A STOP LIGHT, AND IT HAPPENS WHILE AT SPEED. IT HASN'T OCCURRED YET AT SPEEDS ABOVE 45 MPH. EVERYTIME IT STALLS, I GET A OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT. I OCCASIONALLY RECEIVE A ELECTRONIC THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT AS WELL. I ALSO OCCASIONALLY RECEIVE A ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM (ESP)/TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM (TCS) INDICATOR LIGHT WHEN MY POWER STEERING CUTS OFF DUE TO THE ENGINE STALL. THE PROBLEM ALWAYS CORRECTS ITSELF UPON SHUTTING THE KEY OFF, AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE NOR RECREATE THE PROBLEM. FYI, I RECENTLY HAD MY 5 YEAR POWERTRAIN INSPECTION DONE BY THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP, AND MY JEEP PASSED WITH NO NOTED ISSUES. SHORTLY AFTER CHANGING THE SPARK PLUGS IN MY WIFE'S 2007 GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL ON DECELERATION. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE AN ISOLATED INCIDENT, BUT THE STALLING CONTINUED FREQUENTLY. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND THE VEHICLE MUST BE STOPPED OR PUT IN NEUTRAL WHILE COASTING TO BE RESTARTED. AFTER CONDUCTING SOME INTERNET RESEARCH I FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 GRAND CHEROKEES WITH HEMI'S. I WAS AMAZED AT THE NUMBER OF OCCURRENCES OF THIS HAPPENING AMONG THIS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STALLS LESS FREQUENTLY THAN IT DID WHEN I FIRST CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS, BUT IT STILL HAPPENS. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS ON NOVEMBER 1, 2013 WHEN MY WIFE WAS PICKING MY SON UP FROM SCHOOL. CHRYSLER CORPORATION FAILS TO TAKE A STANCE ON THE PROBLEM DENYING THAT THE PROBLEM EXIST. I HAVE SPOKE TO MY LOCAL DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF IT. I WOULD SALE THE VEHICLE, BUT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE I COULD NOT DO THAT TO ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL. SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS HAVE REPLACED THE UPPER AND LOWER WIRING HARNESSES ON SEVERAL VEHICLES AND THIS SEEMS TO HAVE RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. AGAIN TO RESTATE THE PROBLEM IT SEEMS TO OCCUR AFTER THE SPARK PLUGS ARE CHANGED IN THE VEHICLES. THIS WOULD LEAD ONE TO BELIEVE THAT DISTURBING THE POSITION OF THE WIRING HARNESS EFFECTS THE VEHICLE. CHRYSLER NO LONGER MANUFACTURERS THAT WIRING HARNESS, AS THEY ARE ON THE THIRD VERSION OF IT. THIS IN ITSELF WOULD LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER HAS SOME KNOWLEDGE OF A PROBLEM, BUT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL OR TAKE ANY OFFICIAL POSITION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONSUMER THEN COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER A FEW MOMENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000. 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO - RANDOMLY THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START, WHEN TURNING THE KEY TO IN THE IGNITION YOU CAN HEAR THE RELAY CLICKING, ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK OR START. WHEN THE KEY IS RETURNED TO THE OFF POSITION THE DATA DISPLAY BELOW THE TACHOMETER MOMENTARILY STATES THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS OVERHEATED. THE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED AND EVERYTHING ELSE, LIGHTS, HORN, ETC STILL WORK. THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES DUMPED. THE FIRST ATTEMPT TO FIX THIS BY THE DEALERSHIP WAS TO REPLACE THE STARTER, NOW 4 MONTHS LATER THE VEHICLE IS DOING THE SAME EXACT THING. THIS HAS BECOME A RELIABILITY ISSUE IN THAT THERE IS NO TELLING WHEN THIS WILL OCCUR, EACH TIME FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE BEEN STRANDED WITH THIS VEHICLE, JEEP DEALERSHIP SEEMS TO BE "STUMPED". I HAVE READ OF MANY JEEP VEHICLES THAT DEMONSTRATE THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM, WITHOUT RESOLUTION. THIS CAN BE AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE, USUALLY HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL IT BECOMES A "HARD" FAIL BEFORE THE DEALERSHIP WILL LOOK AT IT. WHILE TRAVELING AT 75 MPH THE 5.7 HEMI ENGINE SHUT OFF AS IF SOMEONE TURNED OFF THE IGNITION KEY. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ANY INDICATION THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THE ENGINE STARTED RIGHT BACK UP AND WE CONTINUED ON OUR WAY AT A LOWER SPEED OF 65 MPH. TWENTY MILES LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF FOUR (4) TIMES IN A TRIP OF APPROX. 400 MILES. AN ONLINE SEARCH INDICATES THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING IN OTHER VEHICLES. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP AT CHRYSLER JEEP CLAIMS THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PROBLEM! THE FRIGHTENING THING IS THAT THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A REMEDY FOR THIS ISSUE. VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER (DID NOT STALL) WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON INTERSTATE I40 IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE (NO ACCESS TO MEDIAN BECAUSE OF CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION BARRIERS). ENGINE POWER DID NOT ALLOW ME TO DRIVE OVER 35 MPH. DASH BOARD INDICATOR STARTED FLASHING RED (ETC INDICATOR: ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL). SEVERAL TRACTOR TRAILERS HAD TO BRAKE HARD TO AVOID RUNNING INTO THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE. ENGINE IS 3.0L MERCEDES DIESEL. PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A FAILED SWIRL MOTOR DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL BLOW BY FROM A DEFECTIVE INTAKE TUBE WITH AN ORANGE GASKET. THIS MERCEDES DIESEL ENGINE WAS USED IN JEEP GR CHEROKEE IN 2007 & 2008. THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED IN NHTSA ITEM #1006202 REGARDING MERCEDES VEHICLES BUT NEVER TO JEEP. THIS SITUATION OF LOSS OF POWER WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING COULD OF BEEN TRAGIC. I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE THAT MAKE IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FIRST IS THAT THE ENGINE RANDOMLY STALLS. MOST OF THE TIME IT STALLS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED. SOMETIMES IT STALLS AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS. WHEN STOPPED, SOMETIMES I HEAR A "THUNK" RIGHT BEFORE IT STALLS LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO GO INTO GEAR. IT HAS DONE THIS RUNNING IN PARK AND WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED WHILE IN DRIVE. IT HAS STALLED ON ME IN BUSY INTERSECTIONS PUTTING ME IN UNSAFE SITUATIONS. TURNING THE KEY ALL THE WAY OFF AND BACK ON WILL RESTART IT. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION RANDOMLY GETS STUCK IN 4TH GEAR. IT HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHEN A LOT OF POWER HAS BEEN APPLIED FROM STOP. BUT IT ALSO HAPPENS RANDOMLY. WHEN IT OCCURS, I PULL OVER AND STOP THE ENGINE TURNING THE KEY ALL THE WAY OFF. USUALLY WHEN I RESTART IT WILL GO BACK TO DRIVE AND ALL THE GEARS IN THE TRANSMISSION FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE ISSUE IS SO CHRONIC NOW WITH THE TRANSMISSION THAT IT IMMEDIATELY GOES INTO 4TH AND THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE. IT IS AT THE DEALER NOW. THE DEALER PULLED CODES AND RECOMMENDS REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION SOLENOID PACK. THIS PART IS CURRENTLY ON NATIONAL BACKORDER AND THERE IS NO ETA OF WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE TO THE DEALER. ALSO THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS PART WILL FIX THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. IF IT DOESN'T, THE VEHICLE WILL REQUIRE A NEW TRANSMISSION. THEY ARE NOT EVEN LOOKING AT THE STALLING PROBLEM UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. THE STALLING PROBLEM IS VERY SERIOUS AND I CANNOT CONFIDENTLY USE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT FEARING PUTTING CHILDREN IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION.
