THE TRANSFER CASE HAS NOT WORKED PROPERLY AND THE CAR LURCHES AND STUTTERS WHILE DRIVING. THERE WAS A RECALL INVOLVING THE TRANSFER CASE AND THE COMPUTER, BUT THERE HAS NOT BEEN ONE FOR THE TRANSFER CASE ITSELF, WHICH I BELIEVE WAS COMPROMISED FROM DUE TO THE COMPUTER ISSUE BEFORE IT WAS FIXED.

FURTHER, THIS CAR HAS NUMEROUS REPORTS OF BRAKING ISSUES THAT ARE SPORADIC AND IT CAUSED ME TO REAR-END A VEHICLE ON NOV. 2, LUCKILY AT A VERY LOW RATE OF SPEED. I LET MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO INCH FORWARD AND IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE AGAIN WHEN I PRESSED IT AGAIN MOMENTS LATER. MECHANIC COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE BUT THAT IS TYPICAL FOR CHRYSLER IT SEEMS.

STARTED UP AFTER THAT, BUT THEN IT HAS ISSUES WANTING TO ACCELERATE AND CAN FEEL THE JEEP STRUGGLING AT TIMES TO SWITCH GEARS OR WHATEVER THE TRANSFER CASE MAY ASSIST IN. ALSO HAVE NOTICED THE SUSPENSION HAS START TO ROCK.

THE TRANS STRUGGLES TO SHIFT THROUGH EVERY GEAR AND WONT SHIFT PAST 3RD GEAR, SOMETIMES EVEN STALLING ME IN TRAFFIC. FEELS LIKE IT DOESN'T CATCH THE NEXT GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN I'VE BEEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION AND WHEN I GO TO ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE WILL JUST REV AS IF IT'S IN NEUTRAL, BUT IT'S NOT. THEREFORE, THE ACCELERATION IS VERY WEAK. WHEN SWITCHING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, IT EITHER DOESN'T FULLY CLICK INTO DRIVE OR IT SELECTS ALL GEARS (PRND) IN WHICH I THEN HAVE TO PARK THE CAR AND SHUT IT OFF, THEN RETRY A MINUTE LATER. I DON'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS A MANUAL SO THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON FOR IT TO STALL, BUT I'M PRETTY SURE THE ISSUE STEMS FROM THE MAIN COMPUTER IN THE SHIFTER MODULE. AT TIMES, IT SEEMS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS EXPECTING ME TO SHIFT IT FROM GEAR TO GEAR, THEN IT FINALLY CLICKS AND MOVES TO THE NEXT GEAR ON ITS OWN.

I THEN FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER AND THE CASE MANAGER INDICATED THAT MY COMPLAINT WOULD STAY INTERNAL AND COULD NOT ADVISE ME ON WHERE TO FILE A COMPLAINT FOR A SAFETY OR MECHANICAL DEFECT. I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT APPEARS IT SHOULD GO THE NHTSA. WITH SUCH A COMMON DEFECT AND WITH SUCH A LARGE SCALE ISSUE (DEALERSHIP HAS PART FOR SALE FOR $4000-$6000 NOT INCLUDING LABOR) I DO FEEL THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL.

OVER TIME THOUGH SOME OF THE CONDUCTIVE MATERIAL STARTS TO RUB OFF AND MAKE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN 2 OR MORE OF THE CONTACTS, WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ECU AND TRANNY CAN'T TELL WHAT GEAR IT'S IN AND GOES INTO LIMP MODE 20 MPH MAX A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION I'M LUCKY I DIDN'T GET REARENDED BY A VERY PISSED OFF SEMI RUCK DRIVER RECENTLY. I'M SURE SOME ONE HAS BEEN INJURED AND POSSIBLY KILLED BY THIS BADLY DESIGNED AND DANGEROUS MODULE.. CHRYSLER AND BENZ WERE PARTNERS IN 2007 AND BENZ USES A TOUCHLESS ( MAGNETIC) SYSTEM MUCH SAFER. JEEP JUST KEEPS ON PUTTING IN SAME PART NO IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE THE TCB TELLS DEALER TO PUT IN A NEW PART. THE ONLY WARNING SIGN YOU MIGHT GET IS ALL OF THE CIRCLES AROUND THE PRND ON YOUR DASH WILL BE LIT SHOWING YOU THE MODULE HAS NO IDEA WHAT GEAR IT'S IN BUT NO WARNING LIGHTS OR BUZZERS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE 2010 ALWAYS WITH THE VEHICLE MOVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN VERY DANGEROUS!!

THESE VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS NEED TO BE JACKED UP A LITTLE BIT AND BE GIVEN AN ULTIMATUM TO GET THESE RECALLS FIXED BEFORE SOMETHING SERIOUS IS CAUSED BY THERE CRIMINAL INTENT TO NOT TO FIX THESE RECALLS.

I ALSO HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH MY 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO DIESEL WITH MERCEDES ENGINE AS HAVE MANY OTHERS WHO ARE ONLINE . I HAVE PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND HAD IT ROLL AWAY ON A SEVERAL OCCASIONS (MORE THAN 7). I HAVE HAD MY TRANSMISSION REBUILT 3 TIMES, TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION REPLACED COMPLETELY FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. IT HAPPENS PRIMARILY IN THE WINTER BELOW 30 DEGREES (-4C). I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE AND HAVE CONVERSATIONS WITH MANY OWNERS ACROSS THE USA. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WILL GO INTO NEUTRAL CAUSING SAFETY ISSUES, ENGINE REDLINING IF CRUISE IS ON THEN THE TRANSMISSION GOING INTO LIMP MODE, REQUIRING ME TO CUT ACROSS TRAFFIC UNDER NO POWER TO THE SHOULDER AND TURNING OFF AND ON THE CAR (TO RESET LIMP MODE) TO GET GOING AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN 50 TIMES, SOMETIMES COMING VERY CLOSE TO COLLISION AS THE VEHICLE SLOWS QUICKLY WHEN POWER FAILS. MY MECHANIC SAYS ITS SOFTWARE OR ELECTRONICRELATED BUT THE DEALER SAYS ALL SOFTWARE IS UP TO DATE. I HAVE SPENT ALMOST $9,000.00 TO DATE TRYING TO FIND THIS AND NO ONE HAS A CLUE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE ERROR CODE SAID THE TRANSFER CASE ENCODED MOTOR WAS AT FAULT. HE HAD THE REPAIR DONE AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE SERVICED. THE ENCODER MOTOR HAD TO BE PURCHASED FROM THE CHRYSLER DEALER. TWO MONTHS LATER, HE ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND THE SAME MESSAGE APPEARED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED THE SAME RECALL REPAIRS. ON APRIL 24, 2014, THE MESSAGE APPEARED AGAIN. ON APRIL 30, 2014 THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, SO IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY REPLACED THE STARTER SOLENOID AND BOTH FRONT WINDOW MOTORS. ALSO, THE SERVICE 4 WHEEL HAD APPEARED AGAIN. ON MAY 2, 21 ,AND 27 2014, THE SAME SERVICE MESSAGE APPEARED, AS WELL AS JUNE 1, 2014. *JB

THIS WAS FOR THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN FEB 2014. AFTER WORKING CORRECTLY FOR SEVERAL DAYS, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. IT IS NOT SAFE THE HAVE AN OFF ROAD VEHICLE THAT CANNOT BE RELIABLY BE SHIFTED INTO 4 WHEEL LOW RANGE, WHICH LOCKS THE TRANSFER CASE AND PROVIDES TRUE 4 WHEEL DRIVE. AS A RESULT, OF THIS SAFETY CONCERN AND FIAT CHRYSLER'S FAILURE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION, I HAVE INSTALLED A FDCM THAT HAS NOT HAD THE N23 RECALL PERFORMED. THE STALLS OCCUR WITH NO WARNING. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY DECELERATES TO A STOP AND I AM LEFT WITH NO POWER, NO STEERING AND NO BRAKES. ONE DEALERSHIP BLAMED IT ON A BAD BATTERY. THE DEALERSHIP WHICH SOLD ME THE JEEP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A M.A.P. SENSOR, WHICH THEY REPLACED. THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM AS THE STALLING PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR. THE MOST RECENT WAS ON 11/9/2013 WHILE DRIVING IN THE CENTER LANE OF THE PA TURNPIKE AT 65 MPH. THE JEEP STALLED AND CAME TO A STOP, WITH A SEMI TRACTOR-TRAILER BEHIND ME. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THAT TRUCK DRIVER WAS ABLE TO SWERVE IN TIME TO MISS ME. MECHANICS AND ON-LINE FORUMS IDENTIFY POSSIBLE CAUSES FOR THE STALLING AS 1. A DEFECTIVE (ECM) ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES; 2. SHORTS IN THE WIRING HARNESS; 3. SPARKS PLUGS; 4. EGR VALVE; 5. IGNITION COIL; 6. PCV VALVE; 7. TRANSMISSION SOLENOID PACK. THERE ARE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES STORED IN THE OBD-II SYSTEM. ONE SCHOOL OF THOUGHT IS THAT 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND COMMANDERS EQUIPPED WITH THE 5.7 L HEMI ENGINE ARE EXTREMELY SENSITIVE TO RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE FROM THE WASTE SPARK ON THE COIL. AS OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE NOTED, THIS IS AN OBVIOUS AND PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH JEEPS EQUIPPED WITH THE HEMI ENGINE, AND CHRYSLER HAS TURNED A DEAF EAR TO THE COMPLAINTS. PERHAPS THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE FATALITIES TO OCCUR. WHY NHTSA HASN'T DONE MORE TO ORDER A RECALL IS BEYOND MY COMPREHENSION. HE SAID THAT A MODULE WAS FAULTY IN THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY AND WAS PUTTING THE CAR INTO LIMP MODE. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I BOUGHT IT NEW AND I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF ALL MAINTENANCE RIGHT AWAY - OIL CHANGES, FILTERS, TIRE ROTATION, ETC.! EACH TIME IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER FOR "REPAIR" , THEY EITHER COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM, OR REPLACED : SHIFTER MODULE (TWICE), TRANSMISSION WIRING HARNESS (THREE TIMES) AND SUGGESTED A NEW BATTERY (WE REPLACED THAT ALSO), AND TRANSMISSION PLUG AND SEAL. THERE WERE ALSO NUMEROUS "SOFTWARE AND ANTI-THEFT UPDATES. IN ADDITION TO THESE, I REPLACED THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR TWICE. NOW, THEY WANT TO REPLACE THE "TRANSMISSION TEMP CIRC." AND ESM MODULE - FOR ANOTHER $1,500.00 . ALL THIS IN 52,536 MILES AND 6 YEARS !!! I FIRMLY BELIEVE THERE ARE SERIOUS MANUFACTURER DEFECTS WITH THIS VEHICLE. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THE SAFETY OF THIS JEEP IS UNPREDICTABLE. I WAITED ABOUT AN HOUR OF TRYING BEFORE IT DECIDED TO WORK AND TURN OVER. I THEN PROCEEDED TO DRIVE 5 MIN STOPPED AT A GAS STATION FOR GAS, WHEN I SHUT IT OFF AND TRIED TURNING BACK ON SAME THING HAPPENED. I WAITED ABOUT 45 MIN BEFORE IT WOULD START BACK UP. THEN NO PROBLEMS FOR 5 DAYS. NOW AGAIN ITS DOING THE SAME THING EXCEPT I LEFT IT OVER NIGHT AND IT STILL WONT START. I CALLED CHRYSLER AFTER LOOKING ONLINE AND SEEING A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH COMPLAINTS THAT WERE THE SAME AS MINE EXCEPT THESE PEOPLE SPENT THOUSANDS TRYING TO FIX AND REPLACE EVERYTHING YET STILL NO LUCK THEY CONTINUE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. SO THIS IS A VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH JEEP AND EVEN AFTER BRINGING TO JEEP DEALER AND HAVING A DIAGNOSTICS DONE WITH NO PROBLEMS SHOWING UP. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG SUGGESTED REPLACING WIRES, STARTER, SOMETHING IN THE STEERING COLUMN, AND SOME MODULE. I DON'T WANT TO DUMP TONS OF MONEY IN IT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE JUST TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. CHRYSLER APOLOGIZED AND SAID THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION ON MY 2007 GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO GAVE OUT AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES. WHEN TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE, I GOT A 'TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT' MESSAGE ON THE DASH DISPLAY ALONG WITH THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND IT TOOK NEARLY A MONTH FOR THE REPAIR SHOP TO LOCATE, RECEIVE AND INSTALL THE NECESSARY PARTS. APPARENTLY SUPPLY AND DEMAND HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT, INDICATING TO ME THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE NATIONWIDE. A MONTH LATER, ANOTHER MALFUNCTION, THIS TIME, THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE (ESM) HAD DIED. JUST OVER A YEAR LATER, THE SAME COMPONENT (ESM) DIED AGAIN (OF COURSE JUST OUT OF WARRANTY), THIS TIME WHILE I WAS DRIVING ALONG RT. 50 OUTSIDE OF DC. NOW, LESS THAN SIX MONTHS LATER, WITH LESS THAN 40,000 ON THE ALREADY REPLACED TRANSMISSION, MY TRANSMISSION HAS BLOWN AGAIN - SAME 'TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT' MESSAGE, SAME ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT, SAME UNDRIVABILITY. CLEARLY FROM SEEING THE COMMENTS ON THIS FORUM AS WELL AS OTHER REPUTABLE SITES SUCH AS EDMUNDS AND CONSUMER REPORTS, THE 2007 GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO HAS A LONG, LONG HISTORY OF MECHANICAL AND ELECTRONIC PROBLEMS. I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE THAT MAKE IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FIRST IS THAT THE ENGINE RANDOMLY STALLS. MOST OF THE TIME IT STALLS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED. SOMETIMES IT STALLS AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS. WHEN STOPPED, SOMETIMES I HEAR A "THUNK" RIGHT BEFORE IT STALLS LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO GO INTO GEAR. IT HAS DONE THIS RUNNING IN PARK AND WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED WHILE IN DRIVE. IT HAS STALLED ON ME IN BUSY INTERSECTIONS PUTTING ME IN UNSAFE SITUATIONS. TURNING THE KEY ALL THE WAY OFF AND BACK ON WILL RESTART IT. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION RANDOMLY GETS STUCK IN 4TH GEAR. IT HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHEN A LOT OF POWER HAS BEEN APPLIED FROM STOP. BUT IT ALSO HAPPENS RANDOMLY. WHEN IT OCCURS, I PULL OVER AND STOP THE ENGINE TURNING THE KEY ALL THE WAY OFF. USUALLY WHEN I RESTART IT WILL GO BACK TO DRIVE AND ALL THE GEARS IN THE TRANSMISSION FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE ISSUE IS SO CHRONIC NOW WITH THE TRANSMISSION THAT IT IMMEDIATELY GOES INTO 4TH AND THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE. IT IS AT THE DEALER NOW. THE DEALER PULLED CODES AND RECOMMENDS REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION SOLENOID PACK. THIS PART IS CURRENTLY ON NATIONAL BACKORDER AND THERE IS NO ETA OF WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE TO THE DEALER. ALSO THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS PART WILL FIX THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. IF IT DOESN'T, THE VEHICLE WILL REQUIRE A NEW TRANSMISSION. THEY ARE NOT EVEN LOOKING AT THE STALLING PROBLEM UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. THE STALLING PROBLEM IS VERY SERIOUS AND I CANNOT CONFIDENTLY USE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT FEARING PUTTING CHILDREN IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT HAPPENS WITH JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES ALL THE TIME AND THAT THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE ESM BUT STATED THAT IT DOESN'T ALWAYS FIX THE PROBLEM AND THAT THEY'VE REPLACED THOUSANDS ONLY TO HAVE IT RECUR MONTHS LATER. WHILE PULLING OUT OF A GAS STATION INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC, I BEGAN ACCELERATING TO THE SPEED LIMIT OF 45 MPH. I WAS ACCELERATING RAPIDLY AS TRAFFIC WAS COMING QUICKLY FROM BEHIND. THE JEEP STOPPED ACCELERATING AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWED ALL OF THE DRIVE LETTERS WITH BOXES AROUND THEM. THE JEEP WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FOR OVER 20 SECONDS, CAUSING ME TO RAPIDLY PULL OFF OF THE ROAD TO AVOID TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. THE DEALER FOUND A FAULTY ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE AND REPLACED IT. THE VEHICLE HAS WORKED WELL UNTIL 2/15/12. AT 70,000 MILES, THE DEALER INSTALLED MODULE HAS FAILED AGAIN. ONCE MORE THIS HAPPENED WHEN ENTERING A HEAVY TRAFFIC ROADWAY. HE TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT THEIR SHOP SWAPS OUT THE DEFECTIVE JEEP SHIFTER MODULES WITH MERCEDES SHIFTER MODULES. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS REPAIR COST ME WELL OVER $1000.00. INSPECTION INDICATES THAT TRANSMISSION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE IS AT FAULT ALONG WITH A POSSIBLE TRANSMISSION SENSOR FAILURE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. BOTH OF THESE CONDITIONS ( POWER AND CHECK ENGINE ) ARE INTERMITTENT, INDICATING THAT THE MODULE IS FAULTY. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION ECM ON THESE VEHICLES. THE OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE VARYING SYMPTOMS BUT ALL GO BACK TO THE TRANSMISSION ECM. THESE UNIT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED OR REPLACED AT MANUFACTURERS COST. THIS PROBLEM EXISTS IN MANY DIFFERENT MODELS AND YEARS OF VEHICLES, BUT ALWAYS GO BACK TO THIS ECM UNIT. THIS WAS AN INHERENTLY DANGEROUS CONDITION AS THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 35 - 40 IN THE FAST LANE AT WHICH TIME I COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND HAD LIMITED STEERING (MORE LIKE COASTING) ABILITY. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE ENGINE COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTART, HOWEVER THE NEXT DAY UNDER SIMILAR CONDITIONS OF NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS THE VEHICLE JERKED AND STALLED AGAIN, AND RESTARTED AFTER A COMPLETE SHUTDOWN. THIS VEHICLE ON THE THIRD DAY POST THE FIRST INCIDENT FAILED TO RESTART AFTER DRIVING TO A LOCAL SHOPPING DESTINATION AND TURNING THE CAR OFF TO PARK. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME IN OCT 2009 SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS FIXED AT THAT TIME. NOW ALITTLE OVER ONE YEAR LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I AM LUCKY THAT I WAS TRAVELING WHEN TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT OR IT MOST CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I SPOKE WITH JEEP AND THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE UNLESS I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER IN WHICH IS WAS REPAIRED BEFORE, I EXPLAINED THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS ONE HOUR AWAY AND I WOULD NOT BE DRIVING MY VEHICLE THAT DISTANCE AND DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE THE FINANCIAL CAPABILITY TO HAVE IT TOWED THAT DISTANCE. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND IMMEDIATELY PUT ON MY FLASHERS. THE DRIVER BEHIND REALIZED THAT I WAS IN TROUBLE AND PUT ON HIS AS WELL. AFTER WAITING APPROXIMATELY 5MINS, I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY TO MY OFFICE SINCE I WAS JUST 2 BLOCKS FROM WORK. THIS EXPERIENCE SCARED ME BECAUSE HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT THE 60-65 MPH RATE ON THIS VERY BUSY HIGHWAY, I COULD HAVE BEEN HURT. THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO STARTED CLUNKING LOUDLY WHEN I SHIFTED FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AFTER THIS OCCURS. THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME AND TWO DAYS LATER THE SAME TRANSMISSION CLUNKING BEGAN AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I LEFT A RED LIGHT TODAY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM FIRST GEAR INTO SECOND. FINALLY, IT SHIFTED, SLAMMING INTO GEAR, WITH A LOUD, HARD CLUNK THAT SHOT MY VEHICLE SEVERAL FEET AHEAD. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT IF A CAR HAD BEEN AHEAD OF ME. IT'S BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP WHO CLAIMS THERE'S NOTHING WRONG. THE CAR HAS ONLY 21,000 MILES ON IT. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND COULD NOT BE DRIVEN AT MORE THAN 20 MPH, AND THE INDICATOR GAUGES SEEM ED STUCK IN PLACE. ALSO, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE AT WORK. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN NEW YORK CITY ,AND MY FEAR WAS THAT ANOTHER VEHICLE WOULD REAR END MY VEHICLE. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASING LOCATION AT ADDITIONAL COSTS TO US, AND THEY STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO THE SHIFT CONTROLLER, TRANSMISSION NOT SENDING THE PROPER SIGNAL FOR IT TO SHIFT PROPERLY. THEY TOLD US THEY WOULD REPLACE THE SOLENOID, AND IT SHOULD BE FINE. THIS WAS LESS THAN A MONTH AGO, AND NOW MY WIFE WAS UNWILLING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF BEING STUCK IN TRAFFIC OR BEING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.
