Since I bought it at the dealership the car hesitates to start, I took it several times and they couldn't find the fault, they said it could be a problem with the battery so I changed it and it kept doing the same thing. thing, they told me what the tank was. of gasoline I took it to a Nhtsa office and they told me that they would change the part, over time I had the same problem again but now a year has passed and the car no longer starts, from the beginning they have not helped me solve the problem problem. problem problem that comes from the factory.
The Horn has stopped working and it appears to be the Clock Spring. This is a safety hazard as it can cause the airbags to engage randomly or NOT engage in the case of a crash. This is an expensive repair that should not be at the expense of the owner since it is a defect in the Clock Spring. I am aware that there have been Clock Spring recalls on other models of Jeeps, but not on this one.

My alternator caught fire. Car won’t start.
This vehicle stops while driving. It happens when it comes to a stop or slow down. Will turn off. In some instances I have lost my power brakes. This has been happening since November of 2022. The dealership has replaced the recall part, the fuel pump relay. Still happens. They thought it could be low transmission fuel. No, still happened. They have driven it over 100 miles and it wouldn’t replicate for them so they say they cannot fix it because there is no check engine light on. This is a safety hazard.
I’m driving the vehicle and it will not shift out of park after putting it in park. I had to turn the car off in order to get it to shift out of park. This happened to me twice
This is a widespread complaint as it happens to every Jeep with leather dashboards. The leather starts to wrinkle & shrink, releasing it from the dashboard mount itself on my 2011Grand Cherokee Overland, which started in 2014. I tried to no avail to get Jeep to repair it under warranty, they denied it every time. In January 2020 I complained on Twitter about it & tagged Jeep in it, Jeep Cares contacted me and after a few messages back & forth, me providing pictures and my VIN, they told me I was entitled to a "X81" Extended Warranty for the leather to be replaced at no cost. I contacted dealer as they suggested & they told me to bring it in so they could see it & order replacement leather. We were in the middle of a World Wide Pandemic so I have waited to have that & many other issues fixed. When I went to dealership yesterday, I was told the X81 expired in June 2020, 6 months after I was told of it. I was NEVER told of any expiration period or I would have taken it in, I waited because of the Pandemic. EVERY leather dash by Jeep/Chrysler does the same thing as mine, they need to be responsible and cover it. I don't know the validity of it, but I've read this can cause premature passenger air bag deployment, that scares me.
I was leaving home from work and my car started perfectly fine and I drove like 50ft and the car completely shut down. I tried to jump it car to car but it was draining the other car batteries so I got a tow truck to come out and it jumped the car enough to get it in neutral and then it cut off. I changed the battery and alternator and It cuts on them after about 5-10 min it completely cuts off and won’t turn back on again. Lights on the dashboard pop up too before it cuts off.

As I am about to turn right my vehicle completely shuts off and I lose power steering, etc. Brakes work enough to stop thankfully, but vehicle is completely off almost causing a crash. I am able to start my 2011 Jeep GC right back up and go on with the engine light on. The light then shut off as I am driving. After reading multiple cases of this same issue it is apparent something needs done and a resolution needs issued. This is an extreme safety issue and needs addressed now before injury or death occurs. I love Jeep but I do not think I will be able to get another (after having 3+) if this does not get addressed. Get this fixed and addressed now.
Headrest deployed on its own. I came out to my car 1 day and my airbag was headrest was deployed.
I bought this jeep from BurkenKotter in Castle Rock Colorado back in april and ever since it stalls on me on the highway randomly and i lose my power steering and brakes and scares the crap out of me. it’s done this over 10 times over the 5 months ive owned it
Dash board is severely wrinkled. This could possibly interfere with the integrity of the air bags.

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL DECEMBER. I USE THE CAR DAILY AND FOR LONG TRIP AND FEAR IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE REMEDY FOR THE PREVIOUS RECALLS WAS TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. IF YOU HAD EITHER OF THESE RECALLS COMPLETED, THE INSTALLED REMEDY RELAY IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO SILICON CONTAMINATION ON THE RELAY CONTACTS, WHICH CAN CAUSE THE RELAY TO FAIL. NOW I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY BLUETOOTH BEING CONNECTED TO MY PHONE IT KEEPS KICKING MY PHONE OUT I DID A RESET AND HASN'T WORKED AND JEEP DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME ITS $135 TO FIX WHICH I REFUSE IF THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH JEEP AND THE RADIOS THAT SHOULD BE ON RECALL AS WELL. I PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FOR 11 YEARS, AND THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE OLD DESIGN OF THE REAR WINDOW GLASS. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED ONLY UNDER BRAKING AND TURNING CIRCUMSTANCES. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO A JEEP DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE AND BOTH TIMES THEY HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY SWITCH. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. I WOULD ESTIMATE THIS HAPPENS ONCE/MO, HOWEVER, IT'S HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS WHICH OBVIOUSLY BROUGHT ME TO THE POINT IN WHICH I'M DOCUMENTING AND WRITING A REPORT. I CALLED THE SAME JEEP DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING AND THEY CLAIM THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM AND WOULD NEED TO DIVE DEEPER IN ORDER TO PROPERLY UNDERSTAND THE CURRENT ISSUE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SUGGESTED THAT THE OIL LEVELS COULD BE LOW, WHICH COULD CAUSE THIS ISSUE, BUT I REGULARLY CHECK MY OIL LEVELS AND THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE. I'VE NOTICED THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE JEEP HAS DETERMINED WHAT EXACTLY IS CAUSING THEIR VECHICLES TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT'S A VERY SCARY SITUATION, ESPECIALLY IF A LARGE SEMI OR ANOTHER LARGE VEHICLE IS BARRELLING DOWN ON YOU WHILE YOU ARE UNDER BRAKE AND TURNING, AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE THROUGH THE TURN/CORNER. I WOULD LIKE TO BETTER UNDERSTAND WHAT JEEP IS DOING AND WHAT NHTSA KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND WHAT OUR OPTIONS ARE AS A CONSUMER. AT 11:10 SOMEONE FROM THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND TOLD US THEY DID'NT HAVE THE PARTS! MY WIFE AND I GOT UP EARLY ON A SATURDAY MORNING TO HAVE THE JEEP ON THERE LOT BY 9 AND THIS IS WHAT WE GET! ALSO WHY CALL AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT IF THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT GOING TO KEEP IT. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO START ON IT AT 9 A.M. AND DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO START UNTIL 11:10! HAVE BEEN RECEIVING RECALLS FOR A YEAR MAYBE ON PROBLEM WITH VISORS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO DEALER 3 TIMES,, NO PARTS AVAILABLE. I CALLED DAIMLER CHRYSLER AND WAS "PUT ON A LIST". THAT WAS MONTHS AGO .. NOW I HAVE RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM!
FROM 2012 I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE HAVING A HARD START AND STALLING WHILE DRIVING IT EVENTUALLY GOT WORST AND ON 7/28/16 IT STALLED AND NEVER START AGAIN. I SMELL SOMETHING BURNING UNDER THE HOOD BUT DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS. I AM NOW OUT OF A VEHICLE BECAUSE FOR FOUR YEARS A SOLUTION NOT FOUND FOR THE PROBLEM. MY SOLUTION IS THAT THE WHOLE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN PUTTING MY FAMILY IN DANGER FOR YEARS.

DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS IS A DEFECT OF THE 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, AND THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE IT........STARTED AS ONE LITTLE BUBBLE AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. THE LEATHER IS DRYING OUT WHERE IT IS PULLING AWAY FROM THE ADHESIVE. JEEP (MOPAR) CONVERSATION STATED THEY COULD FILE A COMPLAINT BUT NOT HELP IN THE REPAIR COSTS.

I CUT MY THUMB & SCRAPED A KNUCKLE ON SOME VERY SHARP TRIM AROUND THE TOP OF THE CUP HOLDER WHEN I REACHED INSIDE IT IN A PARKING LOT. THE BOTTOM OF THE TRIM HAD PULLED AWAY FROM THE SIDE AND WAS PROTRUDING AT AN ANGLE IN MORE THAN ONE SPOT INSIDE THE CUP HOLDERS. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD PURCHASED IT LESS THAN ONE MONTH PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THEY SAID THE ENTIRE PIECE WHICH INCLUDED THE CUP HOLDERS, TRAY, & GEAR SHIFT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED FOR $500 AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT SINCE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I HAD PAID $2500 FOR DID NOT COVER IT. SO I NOT ONLY GOT INJURED, BUT I'M STUCK WITH THE BILL AND CANNOT EVEN WORK WITH MY SPECIAL NEEDS CLIENT UNTIL IT GETS REPLACED SINCE I CAN'T PUT HIM IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS JEEP ONLY HAD 28,232 MILES ON IT AND WAS IN GOOD SHAPE WHEN I BOUGHT IT ON 1/25/16, SO THIS NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED. IF THE CUP HOLDERS COULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND REPLACED SEPARATELY, IT WOULD HAVE SAVED ME A LOT OF MONEY AND TAKEN A LOT LESS TIME FOR THE MECHANICS TO REPLACE THEM. AT FIRST, THINKING THIS WAS A SCARY, ISOLATED INCIDENCE, I DROVE ON THE THREE BLOCKS TO THE GROCERY STORE. AT THE GROCERY STORE, I STOPPED IN THE PARKING LOT TO LET ANOTHER VEHICLE PULL OUT AND A WOMAN CROSS FROM HER CAR TO THE STORE. THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD FROM A DEAD STOP. I THREW IT IN NEUTRAL AND USED MY E-BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. I WAS TERRIFIED THAT I COULD HAVE RUN OVER A PEDESTRIAN. I WALKED FROM THE STORE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY PICKED UP MY VEHICLE. I TOLD THEM TO KEEP IT UNTIL THEY SOLVE THIS ISSUE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE IT AND AM SERIOUSLY AFRAID THAT SOMEONE COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. THE FIRST TIME, MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR WAS STILL MOVING VERY SLOWLY FORWARD WHEN THE ACCELERATION OCCURRED. AT THAT TIME WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO GILMAN CHRYSLER AND JEEP IN HOUSTON TX WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM (8/10/14). THEY CLAIM THEY TESTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. MY HUSBAND AND I KEPT EXPLAINING TO THE SERVICE GUY THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND WE DON'T WANT TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT FOR AN ISSUE THAT CAN BE RESOLVED. THE SERVICE GUY STATED THAT THEY DID ALL THEY COULD BUT THEY WILL KEEP OUR INFORMATION ON FILE. I AM VERY UPSET WITH THIS SITUATION. INSTEAD OF INSTRUCTING THE DRIVER TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY, HE CALMLY PUT AWAY HIS DOLLY AND TOLD ME TO GET BACK INTO MY CAR AS THEY WOULD BE LEAVING IN A MOMENT. WHEN I ASKED HIM THE NAME OF THE COMPANY, HE REFUSED TO ANSWER. I THEN NOTICED THE VEHICLE HAD NO REAR TAG (LICENSE OR DOT NUMBER) AT ALL. AS I FOLLOWED THE TRUCK AROUND THE CORNER SO THAT I COULD FINALLY GET ONTO TUCKER, I SAW THE THE DRIVER IN HIS MIRROR, LAUGHING. I LOOKED UP THE SYMPTOMS ON THE INTERNET AND SAW MANY OTHERS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE JEEP/CHRYSLER TIPM PART. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM, AND ASKED THEM TO LOOK IN TO THE TIPM ALSO AS OTHERS WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS "TWO CODES" THAT NEEDED TO BE UPDATED AND NOT THE TIPM. WITHIN 24 HOURS, THE CAR DID NOT START AND CRANKED AGAIN. FOR THE THIRD TIME, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THEY THEN REPORTED IT COULD EITHER BE THE FUEL PUMP OR THE TIPM. ( I TOLD THEM THAT WAS WHAT I HAD ASKED FOR THEM TO LOOK AT THE LAST VISIT.) THEY THEN DETERMINED IT IS THE TIPM, AND THE NEEDED PART WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 9-25-13, LEAVING ME CAR LESS UNTIL THAT TIME. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE ONGOING AND REOCCURRING PROBLEM BUT HAS DETERMINED THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO FIX IT. THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I JUST USE THE A/C ON A WARMER SETTING OR TURN IT OFF AFTER IT FREEZES UP AND WAIT A WHILE FOR IT TO THAW OUT. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE FIX FOR A PROBLEM THAT I HAVE AND THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. I KNOW OTHER PEOPLE WITH CHRYSLER VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE ON A ROAD TRIP IN THE SOUTH IN HEATS OF 100+ DEGREES ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU PLAN TO RIDE IN A CAR WITH FUNCTIONAL A/C. 2011, 2012 CHRYSLER VEHICLES WITH THE PENTASTAR V6 3.6 LITER ENGINE ARE RATED TO TOW 5000 LBS UNRESTRICTED WITH THE TOW PACKAGE INSTALLED. THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT IN THE COOLING SYSTEM IN THAT IT CANNOT COOL THE ENGINE WHEN TOWING ABOUT 3500 LBS UPHILL. THE TOW VEHICLE STARTS UPHILL AT THE HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 65MPH IN THE PASSING LANES WITH ENOUGH POWER TO CONTINUE AND SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING, LIGHTS, ETC., THE TOW VEHICLE LOOSES POWER AND ABRUPTLY SLOWS TO A MAXIMUM SPEED OF ABOUT 27MPH. WITH ALL OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD TRYING TO GET BY AND NOT SLOW DOWN, THIS CREATES AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION OF ATTEMPTING TO CROSS 3 LANES OR MORE TO GET OFF THE ROAD WHILE TRACTOR TRAILERS HAVE TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES AND HOPEFULLY SCREECH TO AN ALMOST STOPPED POSITION TO AVOID KILLING THE FAMILIES IN THE TOW VEHICLES. CHRYSLER HAS CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM BUT HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND HAS INSISTED THAT THE VEHICLES ARE WORKING THE WAY THEY WERE DESIGNED BUT ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT WORKING WITHIN THE ADVERTISED SPECIFICATIONS. CHRYSLER DOES NOT WANT TO CHANGE THE ADVERTISED SPECS DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT MIGHT COST THEM MONEY, EVEN THOUGH MANY PEOPLES LIVES ARE AT RISK. CHRYSLER COULD EASILY PERFORM A RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM, SAVING LIVES, BUT THERE WOULD BE A SMALL MONETARY COST TO CHRYSLER. *JS

WE PURCHASED A NEW 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 11/23/2011. THE CAR HAD 308 MILES ON ODOMETER. ON 11/25/2011 AS WE WERE GOING OUT OF TOWN THE VEHICLE'S DIAGNOSTIC (OBD II) SYSTEM WARNING APPEARED, WITH A SYMBOL "MIL" INDICATING A MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT. I CHECKED THE FUEL TANK CAP AND IT WAS TIGHT, I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST CHRYSLER/JEEP DEALERSHIP IN HAMPTONROADS, VA. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CHECKED OUT THE PROBLEM AND DETERMINED IT TO BE A # 6 CYLINDER, MISFIRE-COIL FAILURE. NONE WERE AVAILABLE FOR REPLACEMENT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERSON STATED THAT IT WAS OK TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE LOCALLY BUT SUGGESTED IT WOULD NOT BE A GOOD IDEA TO DRIVE IT OUT OF TOWN, AS IT WOULD NOT GET VERY GOOD GAS MILEAGE! WE STARTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME, HOWEVER; APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES AFTER WE DEPARTED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP THE VEHICLE CAUGHT A FIRE AND BURNED THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT/FRONT OF VEHICLE. WE, MY WIFE AND I ESCAPED WITHOUT PHYSICAL HARM, BUT HAD TO STAND BY AND WATCH IT BURN UNTIL THE FIREDEPARTMENT ARRIVED. *TR
