Two similar incidents to report during week of Dec 15th 2025 on surface streets: Was driving 25 mph when 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee just came to a complete stop -- without any warning signs of a problem. Vehicle stalled with no engine power and loss of power steering. I could not steer the vehicle to the side of the road. Was just stuck. The emergency lights did work. I put the vehicle in park and restarted the engine after about 30 seconds. The vehicle drove normally therafter. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC IS IF I HAD BEEN ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH TRAFFIC. This same stalling of the vehicle with no power or steering ability has happened 2 other times before earlier in 2025. The Dealer insists there is no recall, but this looks like the same problem that this Jeep had in 2019 when the dealer replace the fuel pump relay as part of a previous recall. Obviously that recall was not effective.
When driving the vehicle it just stalls. No warning and all power is lost including power steering which makes it VERY dangerous to all occupants of the vehicle and others on the road.
In August 2025 my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo lost engine power and stalled while driving 15 mph. There was no warning. I was able to restart the car and drive. Then while driving in traffic at 45 mph on 18 Oct 2025, my Jeep abruptly lost engine power and stopped, putting my safety and the safety of my passenger at great risk as I had several cars behind me. Again, the Jeep stalled without warning. I was able to put my emergency warning lights on, then after 30 seconds, I put the car in park and restarted the engine with no problem. The Jeep drove normally. This unexpected loss of power while driving at speed in traffic on Hwy 431 could have been catastrophic. This incident appears to be linked to two previous Fuel Pump Relay recalls, the most recent being V62/NHTSA 19V-813. My Jeep was repaired by the Jeep dealer under both of these recalls which were prompted by no-start conditions and ENGINE STALL CONDITIONS. It appears the FCA repair has been ineffective as my Jeep has experienced two engine stalls while driving and does have intermittant problems with start up. This most recent problem has not yet been confirmed by a dealer as the Jeep Dealer cannot see my vehicle for another 2 weeks, which puts my safety at risk. There were no warning lamps or messages before the abrupt engine stalls while driving. However, for the past 6 months, I had had intermittant instances of the car not starting immediately, particularly in the morning. I would turn the key fob a few times before my Jeep would start. But it always started.
The car cuts off in middle of the road n won’t shut on brought a new fuel pump and it’s still shutting off the electric light pops up on dash when cutting the engine on the car gives the cranking engine power sounds but doesn’t cut on mechanic put in new fuel pump and now think it’s a electrical problem the steering is tight backing up and it has steering fluid this has been happening since 3 months ago I wanna say it comes n goes I’ve got it inspected twice and they inquired about the fuel pump which I have gotten fixed and the car still continues to shut off in the middle of traffic which can cause an accident
While driving the road whether highway our town… my vehicle will stall out. I can’t safely pass because my car loses power.. check engine light starts blinking then traction control lights come on and then battery light. I have to turn the car off after turning flashers on put it in park and restart after a few seconds. This vehicle is VERY UNSAFE to DRIVE.
2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee HEMI. As traveling whether on highway or on streets no matter the speeds the Jeep tends to just stall out out of no where especially when braking and coming to a stop it completely shuts off, no engine, no steering and then must have to engage into park or neutral to push to start up the Jeep again. It is very dangerous and scary any time it happens and even more so when happens on highway. It has been an on going issue since I bought the vehicle in NOV. 2018 but only happens every once in a while and out of the blue when it does. I did reached out several years ago to the manufacturer Mopar Jeep Chrysler but they had no solution for me. I had a case number with them but it was so long ago I cannot remember now. I did have the recall on the fuel pump relay in which I thought that would resolve my issue but unfortunately it did not and I still experience this Jeep stalling out at any point while driving, onto braking, and then to the stop. I had my jeep’s recall for a fuel pump relay and now I have problems starting at times and I’m starting to smell fuel through my vents and even when I park my jeep inside the garage. I am very worried while I am driving it, especially I have a child with me at all times in the jeep. Please help me, I want to get this solved as soon as possible and I live in Las Vegas now where it is very hot.
One of the recalls for this vehicle is for "2011-2013 wk wd fuel pump relay". The car stalled on the road but I was able to bring it home and apply a temporary fix by connecting the Pump fuse with the Cigarette lighter fuse (per some online instructions). The car runs now, but it's not a permanent fix. I called a Dealer (Everett, WA) and scheduled an appointment (it was two weeks ago). Today during my appointment I was sent back home saying they don't have the part and I'll need to come back in a couple of weeks, just for the inspection! Complete incompetence. I called another place (Kirkland, WA) and was also told that they are ordering the part now but will need to wait from few to several weeks. If this recall makes my car unsafe to drive (stall happened on the road, my solution is not perfect) why are the dealerships/Jeep not taking the repair seriously?
I have had to fix several issues since purchasing the vehicle. Most recently the oil filter house and the radiator. I am now having issues with the gas sensor. From what was explained to me, the sensor is not registering the amount of fuel in the tank and therefore believes there is low gas in the car. The check engine light turns off and on and the car begins to shake uncontrollably and it almost feels like it will shut off.
As I was driving my Jeep Grand Cherokee, I was in the process of braking in order to turn, when the power steering stopped working as the engine stalled. I was able to pull over to the side of the road, put it back in Park and was able to restart it like nothing had happened. According to other owners with a similar issue, all the symptoms describe an open Safety Recall for a failing Fuel Pump that may cause the engine to stall. However, when I search the VIN on the NHTSA website, it states that there are no open recalls. The symptoms are identical to what is outlined in the recall. The only warning that came on was "Check the Gas Cap" warning.
So I just bought this car from a dealer about a year now and I was driving down the fwy. Heading to work And suddenly my car turned off and my steering wheel got really hard to make any turns there was no way I could’ve stopped in the middle of the fwy. To stop and start the engine. luckily I was able to pull over and check the car I was full on gas and I looked up common issues that could turn off a running engine checked all fuses didn’t see any problems with it didn’t see any sort of corrosion in the battery cables and their was no check engine on the dash board. Theirs also been times were it randomly takes a long time cranking and won’t start right away so I literally wait for the engine to sit for a while and start the car. My guess it’s the crankshaft position or the fuel pump going out but that’s why I’m here to find out if theirs any recalls related to this issue. I’ve been told their was a recall for a relay issue
Re: AQ14-003-FCA-Consent-Order-7-24-2015 & 2019 Safety Recall [Manufacturer Recall Number V62 & NHTSA Recall Number 19V-813]. FCA hasn't been in compliance with either of them regarding 'my' vehicle. 2015 Consent Decree implies should have been notifying car owners of any type of recall. 2017 recall was cancelled & 2019 safety recall was issued 4 years after the decree, 1 year after I bought the car, a safety recall was issued. Wasn't notified. 2 years later "I" contacted FCA (now Stellantis) to get my vehicle remedied by repair or replacement. Parts were shipped to a dealership but they used it on one of their customers. I asked for another set of parts. After that, absolutely nothing has happened up to now. Keep in mind FCA had my information (email, phone & address) either from me emailing or speaking with a customer rep. It's been over 3 years since last heard from FCA. On my side I no longer have ability to contact them directly since they became Stellantis. 49 U.S.C. § 30166(f); 49 C.F.R. §§ 573.6(c)(10); 577.5(a), 577.7(c)(1), & 49 U.S.C. § 30165(a)(1); 49 C.F.R. § 578.6(a) NHTSA fined FCA/Stellantis > $100 million for 'not' making an effort to send recall notifications of any type of recalls directly to owners of their vehicles within a reasonable amount of time also to remedy the issue. If they don't comply $7,000 per violation & only remedy is replacing the vehicle in question. It's exact issue! Been over 7 years waiting within a reasonable remedy, it never happened. This is a safety issue. I was assured it'd be fixed, never was. I'm putting my life at risk & others driving. Unbelievably the part sent to me the dealership without my consent & knowledge gave it to one of their customers. I called to complain & expected another part to be sent out to another dealership. It never happened. I never spoke to anyone at FCA since then 3 years ago. There doesn't need to be a lengthy investigation. It shows my recall status as open. Proof of noncompliance.
While driving through the intersection after slowing down at light, vehicle completely stalled, turned off in the middle of the intersection and wouldn't start back up. I had to have it towed to dealership. I have had it in dealer prior to this incident for stalling issues just out of nowhere. They simply said they cannot find a cause. This is dangerous to me because vehicles behind me don't know that I am stalled out and almost hit me. Prior to this last time, I have been able to restart vehicle by putting in neutral and getting it to move on it's way, but still scary while vehicles behind me don't know that I was going to stall out. This last incident, I had to be pushed off of the road and then towed to dealer. Hoping they can find the cause and fix.

I just recently purchased this used 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The problem I am experience, while driving at 74 mph the engine just shuts off. The vehicle would not restart for about 15 minutes. This has happened at least daily. The mechanic shop has checked the engine completely over. However they are stumped, The shop was able to repeat the problem but there are no codes. I know there was a recall on the fuel pump relay and then another on the relay. My mechanic has replaced the fuel pump relay but it still happens. I was reading in numerous blogs of this issue happening to many people. This past saturday night I was coming home from my second job when the car stalled out in the construction zone of 696 in Detroit, I can't tell you how many cars came close to killing me. This problem needs to be fixed by Jeep but there seems to be no movement, I'd hate to see people killed over this KNOWN issue. I know last Saturday night was the most fearful night of my life.
After getting my car back from big o doge in Greenville sc I was on my way to work and stopped at a redlight when the light turned green my car just sat there and didn’t move I pressed the gas but nothing it just revved up like it was in neutral pressed the gas to the floor nothing all of a sudden it was like it jumped and took off…also did the same thing at a stop sign up hill and I had a car coming in the other lane as I was crossing the lane to get into the correct one….I had open recalls and set up for it to be checked when I arrived at the delarship they told me my recalls were closed. My car was not checked or repaired at the time how can you just cancel a recall/campaign after notification and claim parts aren’t available but the car was never fixed? I called the delarship paid 400 for 2 diagnostics and they didn’t put my trans cap back on so now they’ve basically ruined my car and didn’t fix NOTHING
Oil pressure sensor code P0522. The engine oil pressure sensor fails before and after oil changes. This causes the oil temperature to sporadically increase and decrease psi drastically from 20 to 110 psi and vice versa. This has been confirmed with multiple OBD2 sensors along with the check engine light constantly on.
I had purchased my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 hemi in June 2019. Shortly thereafter, I was driving on the highway when the vehicle stalled out and the wheel became very hard to control. I managed to avoid causing a major accident and made it to the side of the highway where I then sat for over 4 hours stranded. After trying to start my Jeep it just started up out of the blue and I drove home. I was nervous to drive it but I had no other mode of transportation. Over the next few months it would increasingly stall out. Sometimes in mid turn , sometimes on the expressway and sometimes just not start at all. A recall came out and I was able to have the truck " repaired ". Not even a month later it started to do the same thing. Stalling in mid drive. not starting at all or starting in Neutral only. I took it to a different dealership and paid over 300$ for them to do a diagnosis. Their diagnosis consisted of a " walk around " and taking a video of the vehicle. What a waste of money. As I was going to leave the dealership the vehicle wouldn't start. Then after an hour it suddenly started. I had advised service about it and they said that I can leave the vehicle and have them look at it when they had time which they said would be 4 days from then. I said you just looked at it and did nothing and I had to pay 300$ for nothing to be diagnosed. I was able to get the car home and then the car didnt start for a week then started .. would drive it then stalled and have to have it towed home a couple of times. Now the truck has been sitting in my driveway not able to start at all. The fuel pump relay was supposed to be replaced by two recalls I believe. Nothing was fixed and infact it only had made it worse probably causing damage to the rest of my vehicle. I am lucky I didnt crash, or even kill someone because of this. It is extremely dangerous and to not have the part fixed correctly nor even remedied with a replacement of the TIPM is unbelievable.
I have been waiting for more than 5 months to be called in to fix a recall on my vehicle. Your site stated that if my recall has not been addressed in a timely manner to advise you all. Please help.
My Grand Cherokee started idling rough, then developed a misfire and often times while driving it would just die even while driving on the highway. It almost caused me to have an accident on two occasions. I learned on the NHTSA website my Jeep had an open recall and I contacted my local Jeep dealer only to have them tell me that the parts needed to perform the repair were "restricted"
I've tried 6 times in 3 years to get my recall done since I learnt of my fuel relay . Now according to my mechanic my catalytic converter is messed up due to waiting on the recall. The first 3 times was back ordered, the 4th time I went to my appointment and was told there computers were messed up just needed to see the car to still be on recall list. 5 and 6th time they never got part in. This recall is messing up my car. My check engine light will not go off due to the converter due to the fuel relay. If my check engine light is on I can't remote start it in cold weather . When will I be able to actually get my recall done before it messes up more of my car.

I have an outstanding recall on my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee which the dealerships in my area refuse to fix. The NHTSA Recall Number 19V-813.
This vehicle has had issues starting from the beginning. It occasionally sputters for ~10 seconds when I push start and then stalls. At other times, it starts, then immediately shuts off. It often takes several attempts when either of these things happen for the car to start and keep running. Jeep eventually came out with a recall related to the fuel system that causes starting issues. I have been on a waiting list since October 2021 for the replacement parts so I can have the recall issue fixed, and Salerno Duane Jeep in Summit NJ is still telling me they have no idea when the part will be available. I am therefore selling the car because my kids drive it and I can’t have a car that won’t start for safety reasons. How can Jeep know this issue exists, keep me waiting for nearly a year and still not be able to tell me when it can get fixed?
I have been waiting for over 2 years for Jeep to complete the recall for V62/NHTSA 19V-813. In May of 2020, the fuel pump relay failed and my Jeep would not start. The dealer (Fort Collins Jeep in Fort Collins CO) replaced the relay with the same previous version of the relay, which fixed the problem but did not satisfy the recall. They did not have parts available to fix the recall and I was put on a wait list. In the fall of 2020 I moved from Colorado to Tucson, AZ. In June 2021, I called Larry H Miller Chrysler/Jeep dealer in Tucson and was put on a wait list for the part. It's now been almost another year since then and they are still telling me that they don't have the parts available. For what is considered a safety issue, it seems wrong to have to wait for years to have it fixed. (Note: The date I entered, 5/19/2020, is the day that the Jeep failed to start. I began having issues with my vehicle stalling in the middle of turns and when I came to a stop at a stop light in September of 2019. I took my vehicle to Holden Doge Jeep in Dover, De. I was told it had a recall to replace the TIPM and the fuel relay switch. I was told that mine had gone bad. I was placed on a wait list. I called over 15 times checking on the status, still having issues with my vehicle stalling. Last week it stalled at a light and would not start at all. I had to have it towed to the dealership. I was told that they finally had the part in and I would be able to get a loaner until my car was finished. When my vehicle got there, the service guy told me, the part was for someone else and I would have to wait again. They refused to give me a loaner and the manufacturer called me back and said a loaner wouldn’t be covered under this recall. They told me they ordered the part and it would take 5 days to get there. Here it is a week later and I am still without a vehicle and now I am getting the run around.
Since owning this vehicle (2013), it periodically stalls while driving. There is no warning and most times I am on a highway or getting off an exit. When this happens, I have no power steering ability. I have been lucky so far and I have not caused a serious accident when these episodes have occurred. My wife refused to ride or to drive the Jeep because of this problem. I see online that other Jeep owners have experienced the same problem. I have taken it to a Jeep dealer for service since 2013 and they are never able to diagnose the root cause of this problem. This problem seems to be happening more often - I fear for my life and those around me due to this sporadic problem. Please hold Jeep responsible for getting to the root of this issue with these vehicles.
car shuts off while driving 2times in 3 weeks
There is an existing recall on my vehicle. My vehicle was (still is) randomly stalling while driving, sometimes at high speeds. I brought my vehicle in to a local dealership to get it fixed. About 2 weeks later, it vehicle completely shut down while I was driving it. I really just want to get away from this vehicle all together, as it is an obvious risk to be dirving.
I have been trying to get this vehicle recall taken care of at my local dealership since it was issued. They have never been able to complete it. I have also taken it in because of stalling when running. Luckily it only stalls occasionally, maybe once every 6 months or so. I am also lucky that it has always been in town and not on the highway. The dealer was unable to reproduce the problem. The Jeep just shuts off with the dash lights still on. Once you get to the side of the road then it will restart when you put it in park and not happen again for quite some time. The fuel level does not seem to affect this condition. It has happened probably 6 time since I purchased the vehicle in 2014.
I experienced a strong fuel smell on filling the tank of my Jeep. The dealer and an independent diagnosed a cracked fuel tank. The tank had 3 cracks in the top of the tank which allowed fuel fumes to enter the car. The fuel tank was replaced at my cost of $785.11, the problem was solved. This created a very hazardous situation with risk of explosion or fire at any time.
In the span of about 2 years, I have had the fuel pump TPIM safety recall performed about 3 times. I’ve had a new fuel pump, battery, new alternator, power board installed, all out of pocket and my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Hemi continues to randomly stall. The dealer always says there are no codes and basically cannot do anything for me at this point. Do I have to wait until I am in a serious accident before Chrysler does anything? Go on any jeep forum and I know I am not the only person experiencing this issue. This is a safety issue that needs to be corrected before someone is seriously injured or killed.
Purchased this vehicle used 11/13/2019 and was advised of a fuel pump relay recall (V62). It's now Sept 8th 2021 and I've still not been advised by my dealer that parts are available. They claim that they're only able to order one recall kit/week.
My vehicle will not start from time to time. At times, when it starts, it quickly shuts off and does not run. I am nervous that my vehicle could crash or be harmful to my family or others. My vehicle is currently unreliable at this time as I am unable to get the recall fuel pump relay part at any nearby dealership as there is a waiting list and they can only order one part every 7-10 days. These series of events have been happening for the past 6 months. Our records indicate that your vehicle [1] was included in previous Safety Recall P54 (NHTSA 14V-530) or Safety Recall R09 (NHTSA 15V-115). The remedy for the previous recalls was to replace the fuel pump relay. If you had either of these recalls completed, the installed remedy relay is susceptible to silicon contamination on the relay contacts, which can cause the relay to fail. A fuel pump relay failure can result in a no-start condition or an engine stall condition if the vehicle is running. A vehicle engine stall while driving can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. (RECALL RELATED INCIDENT) TS
Engine stalls without warning causing full loss of power, including power steering and ability to brake properly... ends in engine failure as well. This has resulted in MULTIPLE CLOSE ENCOUNTERS AND LATELY IT CAUSED ME TO HIT THE CURB AND DAMAGED FRONT RIGHT WHEEL.. WILL IT BE ANOTHER CAR AND A CRASH NEXT TIME!???
Took my car into dealership for recall (fuel relay) repair on June 7, 2021. They said they could not get the part until July. Car stalled in middle of driving and had it towed to dealership on June 28, 2021. The still could not get the part and gave me no ETA. No idea where to escalate this further but wanted to start here, nothing on the Jeep website to file a complaint. Is there any guidance you can provide to get any attention in the matter? I have repeatedly tried to get the recalls fixed for my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but all of the local dealers tell me Chrysler is only releasing one part per month per dealership and to just "wait!" I do not feel safe driving my vehicle. My vehicle is getting older, and other things keep needing to be repaired on the vehicle. It is just a matter of time before something bad happens to me. If they know there is a problem, how are they getting away with only releasing "one part per week" to each dealership across the country? This is gross negligence on Chrysler's part and a waiting game for something catastrophic to happen to people like me. Can you please offer a solution? I'm not as concerned about the visor. Should I be concerned about about the other recall besides the fuel pump? When I call the dealer, they say when the V62 part "for me" comes in, they will do all the recalls together, but I'm on a list "with a 100 people before me!" That is so unsettling...it could be more than a year!
UNKNOWN: Fact: My 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland fuel pump relay can fail while driving and cause a vehicle crash without warning. This information was provided in December, 2019, in a letter/notice from FCA. The recall number is V62/NHTSA 19V-813. Replacements for this Fuel Pump Relay are being supplied to Dealerships at the rate of 1 per week. This is unnacceptable and is forcing owners of these vehicles to put their families at risk. I cancelled my, and my family's vacation because my dealership is unable to provide a fix for this fuel pump relay, actually the SECOND fix. The first was R09/NHTSA 14V- 115.
My Jeep has shut off / stalled on me twice now since I have purchased it last month. This is an absolute random issue, and happens while driving. The engine will shut off with no warning, and you loose power steering and power brakes. Very scary, and a very serious and deadly condition. Jeep and Chrysler are no help. Was at the dealership for three days, and they said they can’t find the issue, and gave it back to me. Pathetic!
THERE WERE TWO RECALL IN LATE 2019 FROM FCA FOR MY JEEP. ONE HAS BEEN FOR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WHICH JEEP HAS THE PART BUT I'VE BEEN UNABLE TO SCHEDULE FOR REPAIR BECAUSE THE JEEP DEALERSHIP SAID THEY CANNOT GET THE PART AND BLAMES JEEP (FCA). FCA BLAMES THE DEALERSHIP. THE SECOND RECALL WAS FOR THE DASH PAD PEELING UP, WHICH REQUIRES A NEW DASH PAD. AGAIN I'VE BEEN TRYING TO SCHEDULE THIS FOR 1 1/2 YEARS AND AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP BLAMES FCA AND FCA SAYS THE DEALERSHIP ISN'T ORDERING CORRECTLY AND FCA HAS RECENTLY TOLD ME THAT "SOMEONE" AT JEEP HAS BEEN CANCELLING THE ORDERS SUBMITTED WITHOUT EXPLANATION. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IS A SAFETY RECALL GOING ON FOR THE PAST 1+ YEARS. THE REPLACEMENT DASH PAD HAS PREVENTED ME FROM TRADING IN OR SELLING MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THE PROBLEM HAS NEGATIVELY IMPACTED THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE.

THAT EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY IS SOMETHING YOU CAN ORDER ON AMAZON FOR $10; HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP INDICATES THAT THEY CAN ONLY PROCURE ONE PER WEEK. AT 2 MONTHS WAIT, THE DEALERSHIP ALLEN SAMUELS IN WACO, TX INDICATED "THE RECALL YOU HAVE HAS HAD SERIOUS PARTS RESTRICTIONS. WE ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO SECURE ONE PER WEEK....BUT IT STILL MAY BE A FEW MONTHS BEFORE WE CAN PROCURE ONE FOR YOU. I TOOK MY JEEP TO HAVE FUEL PUMP RELAY AND ALTERNATOR RECALLS SERVICED AT NAPLETON JEEP IN KISSIMMEE FL AND THE CAR BROKE DOWN A FEW DAYS AFTER BEING SERVICED, HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CHARGED ME $189 TO SAY IT WAS THE STARTER THAT WAS BAD AND QUOTED ME $800, I FELT PUT OFF AND GOT THE CAR TOWED TO A DIFF PRIVATE OWNED SHOP FOR A SECOND OPINION, THE MECHANIC DID A FULL DIAGNOSIS AND PROVIDED PROOF THAT THE STARTER IS GOOD AND ITS THE ALTERNATOR, STATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP NOT ONLY INSTALLED IMPROPERLY BUT THAT THE PART IS FAULTY,. GROUND WIRE WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE ENGINE AND THEREFORE IT COULDN'T BE STARTED ALTERNATOR CHARGE WIRE INSTALLED IN AN INCORRECT POSITION AND TUGGING ON HARNESS AND PROTECTIVE COVER CAN'T BE PLACED OVER POWER WIRE ALTERNATOR NOT CHARGING AND GETTING EXTREMELY HOT, ALL OF WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, SO I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED FOR THE SERVICE MANAGER, OSCAR, WHO TOLD ME HE WOULD NOT ONLY NOT REFUND ANY MONEY FOR THE MIS DIAGNOSIS BUT HE WOULD ALSO CHARGE ME FOR ANY FURTHER REPAIRS EVEN THO THE PART THAT WAS INSTALLED TWO WEEKS AGO IS THE ONE THAT HAS AND ISSUE AND SHOULD ONE STILL UNDER THE SAME WARRANTY. THIS DEFECTIVE PART PRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND CHRYSLER SHOULD BE FORCED TO PROVIDE AN ACCEPTABLE REMEDY IN A TIMELY FASHION. ALL ONLINE RESEARCH POINTS TO A DEFECTIVE TIPM AND THERE ARE RELATED RECALLS. THE CURRENT OPEN SAFETY RECALL IS NUMBER V62 WITH FCA FOR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WHICH IS PART OF THE TIPM. COMPLAINT IS THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION IS UNWILLING TO MAKE A TEMPORARY FIX AS PROMISED UNTIL THE "VEHICLE IS TOTALLY DEAD." WE TOOK INTO MECHANIC AT JEEP SANTA MARIA; THEY HAD IT ALL WEEK FROM 11/8/19 TO 11/15/19 AND SAID IT WAS FINE. IT APPEARS THIS WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY PART THAT WAS INSTALLED PURSUANT TO A PREVIOUS RECALL THAT FCA HAS BEEN INVESTIGATING SINCE 2018. MY GRAND CHEROKEE HAS STALLED SEVERAL DOZEN TIMES OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS AND THE DEALER CAN'T FIX IT. THE CAR STALLS WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP OR TURNING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION BUT WE CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT THE SERVICE CENTER. THE DEALER KEPT THE CAR FOR NEARLY A MONTH TRYING TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM BUT COULD NOT, BUT I HAVE KEPT RECORDS OVER THE PAST YEAR OF ALL STALLS AND THE CONDITIONS AND THE ONLY CONDITION THAT REMAINS CONSTANT IS THAT I AM QUICKLY BRAKING FROM 40 MPH OR FASTER OR I AM BRAKING WHILE TURNING. THE CAR IS STILL UNDER CHRYSLER'S WARRANTY, AND AS NOTED, THE DEALER HAS TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT HAS FAILED TIME AFTER TIME. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED DOZENS OF TIMES BUT THE LATEST TIME WAS TODAY, AT WHICH POINT I DECIDED TO SUBMIT THIS COMPLAINT. ALTHOUGH I CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON DEMAND, THERE ARE 3LOCATIONS WHERE IT MOST OFTEN OCCURS, AND IT MOST OFTEN OCCURS IN THE MORNING. THE FIRST LOCATION IS ABOUT 2.5 MILES FROM MY HOUSE, AND THE OTHER TWO ARE 5 MILES EACH FROM MY HOUSE. LUCKILY, I WAS NEVER ON THE HIGHWAY WENT IT HAPPENED. THE 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND I PURCHASED TWO YEARS AGO HAS STARTED TO COMPLETELY STALL WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO NOT FUNCTION AS WELL AS THE BRAKES. THIS ENGINE POWER TURNS OFF RANDOMLY AT AROUND 10-15 MPH (WHEN MAKING TURNS, STOPPING AND/OR ACCELERATING) BUT THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS THAT APPEAR ON THE DASH. ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE CAR STILL FUNCTIONS AND THE ENGINE STALL IS NOT NOTICEABLE UNTIL APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES OR TRYING TO STEER THE WHEELS. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS (EASTER) 28 APRIL 2019. THE CAR SHUT OFF AROUND 10 MILES PER HOUR AS I MADE A LEFT TURN CROSSING THE INCOMING LANE INTO A PARKING LOT. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO CAR COMING OR A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE RESULTED. THE FREQUENCY OF THESE TYPES OF STALLS HAVE BECOME GREATER. THEY ARE HAPPENING AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF WARNING. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT WAS NOVEMBER 7TH 2019. THIS VEHICLE WAS RELEASED FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON NOVEMBER 1ST, 2019. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES TO FIND THE PROBLEM AS WELL AS MAINTENANCE. NOTHING HAS BEEN FOUND THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS. WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY IT WILL NOT START WHEN THE BUTTON IS PUSHED. THE CAR SHUDDERS AND THE COMPUTER FREEZES. IT CAN ONLY START WHEN THE KEY IS USED IN PLACE OF THE PUSH BUTTON. IT SEEMS AS IF THE STARTER IS NOT RELAYING TO THE FUEL PUMP. THIS CAR UNDERWENT A BIG RECALL IN MARCH OF 2017. THE FUEL PUMP, FUSE BOX, BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR WERE REPLACED. IT WAS AT THE DEALERS FOR THREE WEEKS. THE JEEP BROKE DOWN AND HAD SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. HAVE AN ACTIVE CASE WITH JEEP (FIAT) BUT THEY HAVE BEEN NO HELP AND KEEP SENDING US THE JEEP DEALER. DIAGNOSTICS HAVE BEEN DONE 3 TIMES TO NO AVAIL. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VEHICLE DIES WHILE DRIVING AND THE STEERING LOCKS UP AS WELL AS THE BRAKES. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION GOING ABOUT 40MPH. HAS HAPPENED WHILE GOING STRAIGHT AND WHILE TURNING. THE RADIO STAYS ON AND NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD.

THE SAME BEHAVIOR IS EXPERIENCED AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. TO PROVIDE HISTORY OF FAILED RECALLS, THE BRAKE SHIELD RECALL WAS CORRECTED BY TWO SEPERATE RECALLS AND WAS ALSO A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT PREVENTS DRIVER CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE WHEN STOPPING. THE STALLING OCCURS WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR STOPPING, AND WHEN PERFORMING STRONG TURNS. THESE TYPES OF TURNS ARE DONE FREQUENTLY AT INTERSECTIONS WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE THE ABILITY TO RESTART THE VEHICLE TO ESCAPE THE DANGER.

( BUT NOT 100% SURE ) NOTICED INTAKE MANIFOLD IS CRACKED NOW TOO. ( FROM CRANKING OVER AND OVER PERHAPS ? ) RECALL ON THE TIPM RESULTED IN THEM INSTALLING EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY BUT MY GUESS IS THE TIPM IS DEFECTIVE AND THE EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS BAND-AID SOLUTION . I'M STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE DEALER . I TOLD THEM TO START A TECH TICKET WITH HEAD OFFICE SO THE UNNECESSARY COSTS DON'T ESCALATE ANY FURTHER .

TOOK MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE TO ARRIGO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP FOR 2 RECALLS IN SEPTEMBER 2016 ONE WIRING ISSUE IN THE VISOR AND ONE FUEL PUMP RELAY. DEALER INFORMED ME RECALLS WERE REMEDIED. DECEMBER 16, 2016 I WAS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS STARTING VEHICLE AND PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE SPUTTERING WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE STOPPED. TOOK CAR BACK TO ARRIGO TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. WAS TOLD PROBLEM WAS FUEL PUMP RELAY AT COST OF APPROXIMATELY $650. EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS THAT ALTHOUGH RECALLS WERE RECORDED AS "PERFORMED" IN THEIR SYSTEM, CAR WAS NOT PROPERLY REPAIRED. SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE AND THE RECALL ACTUALLY TOOK PLACE JUNE 2015. THAT IS INCORRECT AS I CALLED FCA AND THEY IN FACT VERIFIED THAT IN THEIR SYSTEM, RECALL WAS ENTERED AS "COMPLETED" IN SEPTEMBER 2016 AT SAME DEALER, ARRIGO. CALLED ARRIGO AND SERVICE ADVISOR SAID HE RE-CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS ACTUALLY IN GOOD SHAPE, IT WAS SERVICED IN SEPTEMBER 2016. HE SAID THE REASON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON WAS BECAUSE THE SOFTWARE NEEDED UPDATED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD BE OKAY AND THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING "AS IT IS DESIGNED TO WORK" HAVING NO OTHER PROBLEMS. I HESITANTLY PAID $75 TO HAVE THE "SOFTWARE UPDATED" TO AVOID THE $150 DIAGNOSTIC FEE IF THERE IS NO SERVICE. ONE HOUR AFTER I PAID AND LEFT THE DEALER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN ACTING EXACTLY LIKE IT HAD BEFORE "SERVICING" AT THE DEALER. ALSO LATER IN THE EVENING I TRIED STARTING THE CAR AND NOTICED THE CAR WOULD CONTINUE TO CRANK WITHOUT TURNING THE VEHICLE ON. AGAIN, THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD BEFORE I TOOK MY CAR IN. I BELIEVE NO ACTION WAS TAKEN IN REPAIRING RECALL ISSUES AND THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE CUSTOMERS PAY ($650 IN MY CASE) TO ACTUALLY MAKE THE REPAIRS.

UNFORTUNATELY, THE REPAIR TIME WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 WEEK THROUGH THE WEEKEND. I WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS MY UN-SATISFACTION WITH THE SERVICE AT THE CHRYSLER GROUP LLC (CHRYSLER) AND AT THIS TIME WOULD LIKE TO ESCALATE MY CONCERN AS A COMPLAINT. THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED A PRICE OF $1700 FOR REPAIR BUT AFTER SPEAKING TO CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE THE PRICE FOR REPAIR WAS $500. THIS ISSUE MIRRORS THE 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA RECALL NHTSA REF#06V432000 IN WHICH A P2066 FAULT CODE WAS GENERATED LEADING TO FUEL PUMP MODULE REPLACEMENT. AFTER COMPLAINING TO THE DEALERSHIP AND JEEP DIRECTLY, I HAD MY JEEP TOWED AND THEY AGREED TO FIX THE FUEL PUMP (A RECALL THAT HAD RECENTLY COME OUT, BUT NOT YET ON MY SPECIFIC JEEP). THE FIX SEEMED TO WORK FOR A FEW MONTHS, BUT THEN BEGAN HAPPENING AGAIN, ONLY NOW I CAN SOMETIMES START THE JEEP AFTER WAITING AWHILE. LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AGO WHEN MY JEEP WOULDN'T START AGAIN, I CALLED SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT FIXED AGAIN, ALONG WITH AN OIL CHANGE. WHEN I PICKED UP MY JEEP, I LEARNED THAT THE FIX WAS NOT DONE. THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT IT HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE. I COMPLAINED TO THE CASHIERS THAT THE JEEP NOT STARTING WAS THE MAIN REASON I BROUGHT THE JEEP IN. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE, BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND MY SERVICE ADVISER. I ASKED THEM TO HAVE HIM CALL ME. HE NEVER CALLED. I LEFT SEVERAL MESSAGES AND I'VE SENT EMAILS TO THE SUPERVISOR, AND NO RETURN CALLS. NOW I HAVE A NEW PROBLEM IN ADDITION TO THE JEEP NOT ALWAYS STARTING, I HAVE A SIGNIFICANT WATER SLOSHING NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. I NOTICED THIS HAPPENING PRIOR TO RECALL NOTICE15V-115 AND HAD THE RECALL WORK COMPLETED ON 8-17-15. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND THE JEEP'S COMPUTER IS NOT SHOWING THAT THERE HAVE BEEN ANY ENGINE STALLS. I BOUGHT THE JEEP FROM VACAVILLE DODGE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND THEY FAILED TO MENTION ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ONE MONTH AFTER OWNING IT, I STARTED TO RECEIVE RECALL NOTICES. I DID TAKE IT IN AS SOON AS I GOT 3 IN A ROW. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY COULD FIX TWO ISSUES BUT ONE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY HAVE THE RIGHT PARTS. THIS TOOK TWO MONTHS BEFORE I COULD GET IT FIXED. NOW, I HAVE RECEIVED AN ADDITIONAL 3 RECALL NOTICES AND THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THEY WILL ADD ME TO A WAITLIST. THE DEALERSHIP HAS CONFIRMED THAT THEY WON'T HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY PARTS/TIME TO FIX THE RECALLS FOR ANOTHER COUPLE MONTHS. MY FAMILY'S LIVES ARE IN DANGER SO I HAVE CHOSEN TO USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION WHICH IS A HUGE INCONVENIENCE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I'VE ALWAYS TRUSTED THE DODGE, CHRYSLER, AND JEEP COMPANY. I RECEIVED APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS AGO AN IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, THE CODE WAS R09 / NHTSA 14V-115, BUT THE RECALL NOTICE INDICATED THE REPAIR PART WAS NOT THEN AVAILABLE AND A FOLLOW-UP NOTICE WOULD BE SENT WHEN IT WAS. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A FOLLOW-UP NOTICE SAYING THE PART IS AVAILABLE, AND EVERY TIME I CALL THE DEALER THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART AND I SHOULD CALL BACK. THE RECALL NOTICE SAYS THE PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY "COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING." WHEN I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIX IT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO FIX AVAILABLE YET. I ASKED THEM IF THEY EXPECTED ME TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY REPEATED THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE VEHICLE SO PLEASE TAKE MY VEHICLE AND LEAVE. THERE WAS AN EXTREME DELAY AND SUDDENLY THE CAR REACTED AND LURCHED FORWARD. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAD EVER DONE THIS. WENT TO START CAR AND IT JUST SPUTTERED AND STOP, HAD TO TRY 3 TO 4 TIMES THEN WOULD START. THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME WE HAD TO HAVE A NEW FUEL PUMP, RELAY ASSY WITH INLINE FUSE ASSY. INTER LOSS OF FUEL PRESSURE. THIS IS A RECALL ON THE 2011 AND WE FEEL IT IS A RECALL FOR THE 2012. ALSO AT THAT LOW MILEAGE WHY WOULD THIS SCARE US. WE WERE OUT OF TOWN AND IN FEAR OF NOT GETTING HOME. WE WERE ONLY 22 MILES OVER THE 36,000, BECAUSE WE WERE OUT OF TOWN AND HAD TO GET BACK TO OUR CAR DEALER SO WE HAD TO GO OVER THE MILEAGE TO GET TO THEM, SO WE HAD TO PAY FOR THIS SERVICE. MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM AS STATED IN THE CHRYSLER RECALL P54, WHICH IS THE RECALL FOR 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE ENGINE WOULD STALL WHILE DRIVING, AND IT ALSO ENCOUNTERED NOT START PROBLEM AS WELL AS THE NOT START ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT PROBLEM. EVEN THE CAR COULD START, THE ENGINE WOULD STALL AGAIN SHORTLY. THE PROBLEM IS RESULTED FROM THE FAULTY TIPM, WHICH IS THE SAME ON BOTH 2011 AND 2012 MODEL. HOWEVER, ONLY THE 2011 GRAND CHEROKEE IS BEING RECALLED. SO I URGE CHRYSLER TO INITIATE A RECALL ON THE 2012 MODEL AS WELL. *TR

CAR WOULD NOT START ON FIRST ATTEMPT. THIS OCCURRED EVERYDAY FOR 3 DAYS AT WHICH POINT I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. THE PROBLEM WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELATED TO A FAULTY TIPM. THE PART WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP AT NO CHARGE. *TR

I HAVE A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN DECEMBER 2011. IN 2013 I EXPERIENCED MY FIRST INCIDENT WHERE MY JEEP STARTED, RAN FOR 1-2 SECONDS, THEN DIED. I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO RESTART IT AND COULD NOT GET IT TO RESTART. I FINALLY DECIDED TO COMPLETELY TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND START THE IGNITION PROCESS OVER. THANKFULLY THAT SEEMED TO WORK. BETWEEN THE FIRST INCIDENT AND THE NEXT SERVICE VISIT (JANUARY 2014), THIS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 6-10 TIMES. I MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND THEY NOTED IT ON THE SERVICE SHEET; HOWEVER THEY TOLD ME THEY SAW NO ERROR CODES AND COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THE IN FEBRUARY I HAD AN INCIDENT WHERE IT STARTED THEN STALLED, THEN THE SECURITY ALARM SOUNDED. I HAD TO REMOVE THE PUSH START AND USE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION IN ORDER TO DISENGAGE THE SECURITY SYSTEM. THEN APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER I STARTED THE JEEP TO GO TO WORK AND IT DIED AFTER RUNNING FOR 1-2 SECONDS. I RESTARTED THE IGNITION PROCESS, THIS TIME WHEN I LET GO OF THE PUSH BUTTON START THE STARTER CONTINUED TO CRANK FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS, UNTIL I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND LOCKED THE CAR. NOW IN THE LAST TWO DAYS THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED, RAN FOR 1-2 SECONDS, THEN DIED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. I HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER AND SHARED THE ABOVE INFORMATION WITH THEM. I HAVE ADVISED THEM THAT I THINK I HAVE A BAD TIPM. I AM HOPING TO GET THIS ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY SINCE I HAVE 33,500 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND DO NOT WANT THIS TO BE REPLACED AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES. I AM SEEING THE AVERAGE COST TO REPLACE THE TIPM AT A DEALER IS $1200-$1400. THERE ARE ENOUGH SIMILAR STORIES ABOUT THESE SORT OF ISSUES THAT JEEP/CHRYSLER SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. *TR

I STARTED THE ENGINE OF MY 2012 JEEP AND AS SOON I BEGAN TRAVELING WITH THE JEEP FLUIDS POURED FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE ENGINE. I DID NOT NOTICE THIS UNTIL I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING 10 MINUTES. THE COMPUTER DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF AN ERROR OR ENGINE TROUBLE. WHEN I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND LOOKED UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAR I SAW A STEADY STREAM OF ORANGE LIQUID POURING FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE ENGINE. THIS FLUID WAS ENGINE COOLANT. I IMMEDIATELY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL CHRYSLER SERVICE STATION. MY JEEP HAS BEEN WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR OVER TWO WEEKS NOW. THE JEEP CANNOT BE FIXED DUE THE FACT THAT CHRYSLER HAS NO SPARE PARTS. *TR
