The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 15-25 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated before accelerating as intended. The contact stated that the brake pedal resistance increased while depressing the brake pedal, which required the brake pedal to be depressed to the floorboard. The contact stated that the Emergency Stop Brake engaged unexpectedly while the vehicle was idling and while driving at various speeds. A "Low Battery" message was displayed, and upon inspection, the battery was hot. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed failures with the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) communication and the transmission; however, the vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously included in unknown recalls and was taken to the dealer where the recall repairs were performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Was inspected @ my local garage. The tipm goes out and you lose turn signals, wipers, transfer case control ( locks in low gear) causes airbag light to go on. And Chrysler does not manufacture them anymore. Jeep had to be towed.
I was driving down a hill, came to a stop, and it died. I put the car in park, and turned it off and on. There were no messages on the dashboard. The car started, so I took a left turn and suddenly the car stopped moving. The RPM went up, but the car didn't drive. It kicked back and it finally started driving but with the car hesitating. I was in the middle of a very busy intersection. The car died 3 times yesterday, and today it died 2 times.
This is the second time I’ve replaced the rear end differential in this car. Seems to be a know issue among mechanics that Jeep’s are know to need this rare pair often
The vehicle (2013 GC Trailhawk ) engine stalls while driving. The electrical remains on but engine oil error comes on and I can feel there is missing as if engine is not getting enough fuel, there is no power when you accelerate and the engine stalls. My safety is put in risk because this happens while driving on the highway and normal streets. I have taken it to my Jeep dealer (John Hughes, Perth, Australia ) and they too claimed to have never heard of this issue. Fuel pump relay was already repalced some time back. The issue continues and they claim they cannot figure out the problem. The engine will re-start after about 10 minutes powered off and drives fine until the next time it stalls, which has become more frequent. There is no warning when the engine will stall, it just stops running. This problem has been going on now for over six months for me with the stalling becoming more frequent.- Perth, WA, Austalia This has happened 5 times now in the last 6 months.
The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds or while stopped at a stop sign, the vehicle was rough idling and would stall intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed as compression leaks and cylinder head failure. The mechanic referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to a manufacturer's X56 extension warranty for the 3.6 Liter left cylinder head. The VIN was not included in the extended warranty and the contact was referred to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.

INITIALLY BROUGHT MY JEEP INTO SHOP DUE TO JERKY MOVEMENT AT SLOWS SPEEDS WHILE TRYING TO TURN OR BACKING UP AND THEN "SERVICE 4WD" LIGHT COMING ON. WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MODULE AND SHIFT MOTOR WERE BAD. WHEN I PICKED UP THE JEEP EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE. LESS THAN 3MONTHS LATER, AND APPROX. 5,000 MILES, "SERVICE 4WD" LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND SEEMS TO BE STUCK IN 4 LOW. HAD CAR TOWED TO SAME SHOP, IN CASE ONE OF THE PREVIOUS PARTS WENT BAD, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED NOW. LOOKING INTO THE ERROR, IT SEEMS THIS IS ANOTHER "KNOWN PROBLEM" WITH JEEP ALONG WITH THE ROCKER ARM ISSUE I PREVIOUSLY HAD ON THIS JEEP. AS BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ARE SAFETY RELATED SINCE THE VEHICLE COULD STALL OR SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING, I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON BOTH ISSUES. ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND WHILE IN MOTION, THE ENGINE STOPPED CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO STOP IN ROADWAY WITH HARD PRESSURE ON BRAKES. FORTUNATELY, NO CONTACT WAS MADE WITH PERSON OR PROPERTY. I ATTEMPTED TO RE-START THE VEHICLE BUT IT WOULD ONLY CRANK AND NOT START. SEVERAL MINUTES LATER WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD TROUBLE STARTING ON MANY OCCASIONS PRIOR BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT STOPPED WHILE DRIVING. THE ONLY INDICATION THE VEHICLE HAD LOST POWER WAS WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE AND TURN THE WHEEL. PRIOR TO THIS THE DEALERSHIP HAS EXAMINED THE ISSUE ON AT LEAST FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS SPANNING YEARS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE FUEL PUMP RELAY HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE ON THIS VEHICLE. AFTER BOTH OF THESE ALLEGED REPAIRS THE VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. IN THE LAST VISIT WITH THE DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 23, 2020 AND PHONE CALL WITH FCA US LLC'S CUSTOMER SERVICE ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 I WAS DIRECTLY INFORMED THAT NO SOLUTION EXISTS. THERE IS NO ADVANCED NOTICE TO THE DRIVER AS THIS DOES NOT OCCUR EACH TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. WHEN THE VEHICLE DOES LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING, NO NOTICEABLE INDICATION OF THIS DANGER CAN BE QUICKLY OBSERVED BY THE DRIVER. I SENT IN MY COMPLETED THE CHRYSLER REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST FORM AND SUBMITTED THE SHOPS RECEIPT AND THE RENTAL VEHICLE RECEIPT. I WAS ASSIGNED CASE # 76491689. I PAID $3004.00 IN CASH FOR REPAIRS. AFTER I SUBMITTED MY RECEIPTS THEY DENIED MY CLAIM FOR $1309.00 THAT WAS RELATED TO THE FUEL PUMP RELAY REPAIR. THE MECHANIC ALSO PERFORMED OTHER REPAIRS THAT HE CLAIMS WERE AS A RESULT OF THE RECALL DAMAGING THE VEHICLE. I ASKED FOR ANOTHER RECEIPT STATING SPECIFICALLY THAT I PAID IN CASH AND RESUBMITTED IT TO THE DENIED CLAIM EMAIL. I AM UNEMPLOYED DUE TO COVID-19 AND I SPENT MY SAVINGS TO FIX MY VEHICLE. THE RAMIFICATIONS OF THIS MESS HAS AFFECTED MY PERSONAL LIFE AND MY MENTAL HEALTH. FOR A MOMENT I FELT THE MECHANIC LIED TO ME AND I WAS CONTEMPLATING TO PHYSICAL HARM THE MECHANIC. THIS VEHICLE HAS A FREQUENT ACCELERATION PROBLEM. STARTED WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM AN ON RAMP TO THE HIGHWAY, ESPECIALLY WHEN SLOWING TO AROUND 30 MPH AND ACCELERATING TO 55. NOW IT DOES TO EVERYTHING. TURNING FROM A STOP LIGHT INTO A HIGHWAY I FIND MY SELF HAVING TO FLOOR IT, CAUSING IT TO REV TO 4500 RPM'S AND STILL BARELY MOVING. ROUND ABOUTS ARE A STRUGGLE AS WELL, TRYING TO TURN OUT OF ONE AND SPEED UP IS HORRIBLE. I HAVE A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 4X4 AND HAD A TICKING NOISE WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AND TURNING IT OFF THAT COMES AND GOES AWAY. WE HAVE HAD IT DIAGNOSED TO BE THE TRANSFER CASE MODULE AND WHEN RESEARCHING TO SEE IF I CAN BUY THE PART, I WAS ADVISED IT'S ON A NATIONAL BACKORDER WITH THE DEALER AND AFTERMARKET. ALSO WHILE RESEARCHING, SAW MULTIPLE REPORTS STATING THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING MULTIPLE TIMES AND MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. MY VEHICLE IS USED FOR WORK AND DRIVEN ALL DAY ON THE FREEWAY. I'VE ALSO READ THAT THERE ARE NO WARNING SIGNS AND THEN IT'S BLOWN OUT AND UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN UNTIL FIXED. I WORRY ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ALL AS I DON'T WANT IT STALLING ON THE HIGHWAY OR ANYWHERE ELSE. REAR DRIVESHAFT CV JOINT FAILURE AT ~78,500 MILES. THE BOOT THAT CONTAINS THE BEARING GREASE FAILED AND LEFT A RING OF GREASE ON NEIGHBORING COMPONENTS. FAILED JOINT IS THE ONE THAT CONNECTS TO THE TRANSFER CASE. FROM ONSET OF SYMPTOMS (MILD CLICKING NOISE) TO NOTICEABLE DRIVELINE VIBRATION AND VERY LOUD POPPING IN CENTER OF VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN 100 MILES. UNSURE HOW MUCH LONGER I COULD HAVE DRIVEN BEFORE THE JOINT FAILED OR THE DRIVELINE VIBRATIONS DAMAGED THE TRANSFER CASE OR REAR AXLE. WHEN THE REAR DRIVESHAFT WAS REMOVED, I NOTICED A GREASE RING ON A FRONT DRIVESHAFT CV JOINT. THAT DRIVESHAFT WILL ALSO BE REPLACED.

AFTER RECENTLY PURCHASING MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2013, I NOTICED ISSUES I DIDN'T HAVE IN REGARDS TO THE POWER TRAIN AND HOW IT ACTED COMPARED TO MY PREVIOUS JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2002. I FREQUENTLY HAVE INSTANCES AT SLOW, MEDIUM AND INTERSTATE SPEEDS WHERE THE RPMS JUMP FROM THE STEADY 2,000 UP TO LIKE 3,000 BRIEFLY, BEFORE QUICKLY DROPPING BACK DOWN. THIS RESULTS IN AND UNEXPECTED AND SUNDOWN JOLT/JERK. EVEN MORE SO, I'VE BEEN SEEING MORE SERIOUS AND RELATED ISSUES WHERE IT RUNS AT 3,500/4,000 RPMS WHILE NOT ACCELERATING. SEEMS SLOW AND SLUGGISH. ONLY A STOP AND RESTARTING OF THE VEHICLE WILL FIX THIS ISSUE. FINALLY, THIS LEADS TO THE MAJOR ISSUE, STILL RELATED TO THE SAME TREND OF PROBLEMS. I WILL HAVE TIMES WHEN I'M ACCELERATING OR JUST CRUISING AND I LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE RPMS WILL SPIKE DRASTICALLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY FROM AROUND 2,000 AVERAGE TO 6K-7K RPMS. I LOSE ALL ACCELERATION CONTROL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE FEW TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL TURN ON. NATURALLY LETTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR BRINGS IT BACK DOWN SLOWLY, BUT IN THESE INSTANCES I'M ON THE ROAD AND MOVING WITH TRAFFIC. I LOSE ALL ACCELERATOR CONTROL AND CANNOT ACCELERATE WITH ANY EFFECT. THE ENGINE REVS SHARPLY AND LOUDLY WITH NO ACCELERATING MOVEMENT OR RESPONSE. ONLY OPTION IS TO BREAK.. THANKSFULLY THOSE WORK.. AND COME TO A STOP WHERE SHUTTING THE CAR ON AND OFF SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY TEMPORARY FIX. UPON TURNING IT BACK ON, THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL REMAIN AND TYPICALLY DOES FOR A DAY OR SO AND THEN TURNS OFF. VERY DANGEROUS AND SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING, WHILE UNPREDICTABLE AND INFREQUENT, BUT NOT COMPLETELY AS THIS HAPPENS EVERY WEEK AND A HALF OR SO,.. IT SOUNDS LIKE A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT THAT ISN'T BEING ADDRESSS THROUGH RECALLS, REPAIRS OR EVEN WHEN COMPLAINTS ARE MADE. THESE ISSUES NEED TO BE ADDRESSED AS THEY POSE A THREAT TO NOT ONLY MY SAFETY, BUT OTHERS AS WELL.

ALTERNATOR FAILED AT 35118 MI. HAD IN REPAIR TWICE FOR ISSUES WHEN DRIVING. LOUD WHINE, BURNING SMELL AND SMOKE REPORTED. FIRST TIME DEALER KEEP CAR FOR OVERNIGHT AND SAID THEY COULD FIND NO ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD SMELLED THE BURNING SMELL TOO. SECOND TIME THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY ALTERNATOR. THEY REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR, I PICKED UP THE CAR, DROVE 2 MILES AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. I RETURNED IMMEDIATELY AND THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR 3 MORE DAYS. THE FAILED ALTERNATOR HAD "ARCED" TO THE POWER TRAIN, AND THEN THAT HAD TO BE REPLACE TOO (THAT UNDER WARRANTY THANK GOODNESS). BUT ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED FOR $1000 OUT OF MY POCKET EVEN THOUGH VERY LOW MILEAGE BECAUSE WAS OVER 3 YR WARRANTY PERIOD. IN RESEARCHING HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED SO EARLY, I FOUND THAT THE 160 ALTERNATORS FROM THE SAME PERIOD HAD BEEN RECALLED, BUT THE 180'S ARE NOT (AT LEAST NOT YET....I AM HOPING TO HELP INITIATE ANOTHER RECALL SINCE I SEE ONLINE THAT OTHERS WHO HAVE THIS MODEL AND YEAR AND 180 ALTERNATOR HAVE HAD SAME ISSUES AS ME). I WAS ENCOURAGED BY FCA CUSTOMER CARE TO FILE A PETITION FOR REIMBURSEMENT, AND HAVE JUST HEARD FROM THEM THAT THEY HAVE DECLINED IT SINCE MY VIN ISN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. TO BE SPECIFIC ABOUT THE EPISODES, I WAS DRIVING BOTH TIMES THAT THIS OCCURRED. BOTH TIMES I HAD JUST STARTED TO DRIVE AND THE CAR MADE A LOUD WHINING NOISE THAT LASTED FOR A BIT, AND INCREASED ON ACCELERATION, AND QUICKLY I COULD SMELL SOMETHING LIKE BURNING RUBBER AND SEE SMOKE. I WAS AFRAID THE CAR WAS GOING TO STOP SUDDENLY BECAUSE IT STARTED TO BE JERKY, AND WHEN I CAME TO STOP LIGHT IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL. BUT IT KEPT GOING, AND I DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER BOTH TIMES.

THIS VEHICLE ISN'T SAFE AND CONSUMERS ARE FORKING THE BILL TO PAY FOR THESE POORLY BUILT JEEP VEHICLES. I ALSO SEE MORE RECALLS ARE COMING IN THE FUTURE AND HOW IS THE NHTSA PROTECTING US CONSUMERS FROM THESE CAR COMPANIES WHO MAKE AND BUILD POOR VEHICLES.
