Was driving on highway going 60 miles following traffic my car suddenly stalled took me a little bit to pull over, switched off the car, the car made a funny sound. Waited 5 mins and the car started again. My car is constantly stalling, doesn’t give me any warning signals and the Jeep dealership I go to cannot figure out what it is. It takes about min before my car can restart and i keep moving

There are several recalls on jeeps catalytic converter. I keep having on going issues with my grand jeep cherokee 2013. This vehicle should also have a recall like the others. This isn't cheap to fix. Can someone please help me with this on going issue with the catalytic converter. Engine light keeps coming on with the same code PO430.

I am reporting repeated safety-critical failures with my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee that have rendered the vehicle unreliable, dangerous, and now inoperable. I believe this vehicle suffers from a systemic electrical defect related to the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM)—a well-documented issue across Jeep models that causes starting failures, loss of power, and unpredictable behavior of vehicle systems. On [XXX], my vehicle failed to start. The starter clicks but does not engage. These symptoms align with known TIPM-related failures. Despite this, the authorized dealership (Madison Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM) has refused to test the TIPM, insisting on replacing the starter without confirming the root electrical issue. This places consumers at risk of breakdowns without warning and reflects a pattern of ignoring known defects. My vehicle also has a history of major mechanical failures: Water pump, thermostat, and oil pressure unit replaced (Feb 2024) Rack and pinion, control arm, wheel hub replaced (Jul 2024) Rear brake caliper seized (Aug 2024) Radiator failure (Apr 2025) The vehicle remains with the dealership since 4/30/25. As of 5/14/25, I have received no update or repair. My case with Stellantis (Case [XXX]) has been met with repeated communication failures. I missed one call from the case manager on 5/8 and immediately returned it—leaving three voicemails over two business days and receiving no response. I was promised a callback by 5/13 and still have not heard back. These issues raise serious concerns regarding the safety and reliability of this vehicle. I am requesting the NHTSA investigate potential TIPM-related electrical defects and non-compliance with manufacturer responsibility to address safety defects. I do not believe it is safe for my vehicle to be returned to me in its current state, and I urge your agency to consider further action regarding this recurring and widespread defect. While driving my 2013 JEEP Grand Cherokee on [XXX] the passenger side front headrest deployed with no warning. There was a passenger in the seat at the time of the deployment. My local Jeep dealership stated the headrest wasn't covered by warranty even though an extended warranty letter was sent that there was a known issue with the headrest. There are NO warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Once the headrest deploys it CAN'T be reset. The local JEEP dealership is unable to inspect or repair UNTIL the headrest deploys. The driver side headrest MAY STILL DEPLOY. This issue can cause an accident, injury, or worse. I had to pay for a repair of a known issue that I could take no preventive action. A call to Chrysler resulted in no resolution or reimbursement of $1,250.23 I paid. I have the deployed headrest. The axles are all simultaneously rotting to dust. Manufacturer should’ve included grease and a cap.. no reason all 4 of my tires should be in the verge of falling off. A bit of a safety concern id say. Could’ve been easily prevented. Had a mechanic of 50 years tell me he’s never seen axles in such bad condition. I can’t even replace them myself due to the amount of rust that has replaced the bolts. No where else on the jeep has that much rust. From the hour of research I put in, I learned it’s an extremely common issue with the jeeps and in fact the 2017s were recalled for a similar issue. Seems like the 2013s should’ve been included.

My vehicle while I am driving completely stalls on me and I have to wait at least 45 minutes to turn my vehicle on. In 2001 Jeep was forced to do a recall however the situation is still the same with the jeeps stalling. This is a situation that can be life threatening when on a highway if an accident occurs.

I don't know if the headrest is part of the airbag deployment system or it's own entity. It is available for inspection. I was pulling into my driveway when the front passenger headrest exploded/deployed. I had just dropped my sister, who had been sitting there, and would have been injured by the force. I took my car to the dealership and was told that the 'involuntary deployment' was a known problem to Jeep and they had extended the warranty for the problem but it had expired in June 2023 so it would cost me $900 to fix. I contacted Jeep and was told they could not extend an extended warranty so repair was on me. There were no warning lamps or messages. This happened on 12/22.

The battery failed in my vehicle after receiving recall repairs at the service department. The dealership stated that the malfunction happened after first installing a new alternator which was a bad part and shut the vehicle pcm down and they had to replace those components but won’t give me a new battery after stating that it was there mistake but battery’s aren’t cover under warranty components if damaged while repairing other components inside the vehicle. I have contacted the manufacturer and filled out a report for the components and complaints I have experienced with my vehicle in this service dealership. I need help and I have the documents showing that nothing was wrong with any component of my electrical system prior to them supposedly repairing the manufacture safety recalls.

The dashboard is covered with leather and the glue that holds it in place has failed. The leather is starting to flap up when the defroster and the air conditioner goes on. It is lifting up and obstructing my view of the road while driving. This should not happen in a car. It must be a design flaw using cheap glue and not having clips to hold the leather in place

Vehicle sent for recall repair and service on June 12, 2023 at Northland Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 14100 West Eight Mile Rd, Oak Park, MI 48237. Vehicle serviced date release on June 19, 2023. Vehicle was serviced by Nathan Marghalle Lic# M271087 and service advisor 1479 Trevor Szymanski. The service department stated that the vehicle substained a gross malfunction because of bad alternator and bad pcm in the vehicle. Service department advisor parts were repaired and fixed. The vehicle was driven home and parked next day the vehicle wouldn't start and no power to vehicle having presented same issues that was deemed repaired and fixed but isn't functioning at all. Called service dealership and no solution was given at the time of contract, then called Jeep customer service number spoke with representative about the same issues with the vehicle after service. Was advised that I would receive a solution and follow up call and no call or solution. I am without a vehicle and am still paying a note and the vehicle is undrivable.

My driver's-side headrest/"airbag" deployed without a collision. I was wiping down my drivers seat after getting the seat dirty and when I wiped over the headrest it popped against my hand and I heard a tinkling noise of something bouncing around inside my vehicle. Further inspection showed that my headrest had popped out like it had deployed in a crash, etc. I was parked in my driveway and was not pushing hard on the headrest. I looked inside the headrest, and also googled this incident, and there are plastic clips inside the headrest that hold it in place. Those plastic clips wore out and broke off, causing the headrest restraint to deploy. I googled this situation and discovered that other people experienced this same thing as well - I got lucky because I wasn't driving when it happened!! But also, after further research, I found out that this is a thing that is happening and nobody is doing a recall about it. It will cost $600+ to get a new headrest inserted BUT there's no guarantee that my next one won't do the same exact thing! I haven't spent the money to get it fixed yet, because of that, but I have to have my seat and lumbar support adjusted ridiculously so that I can ride comfortably without my neck sticking out like a turtle.

A letter was sent during Covid lockdown that my Jeep may have an issue with the dash and wrinkling of material. I called when I felt safe to come in and Southpoint Dealership in Tulsa, OK told me that it was only offered for a short period of time and that this could no longer be addressed. It is distracting to have the bunching of leather in my view while driving. Apparently other vehicles are having similar issues. Why was this only allowed to be addressed during Covid Lockdown? I did take it to the dealership, and they took images of the material bunching on the dash. Nothing was done for it. Currently my car is at Southpoint (last two weeks for one recall). I can take images when I get it back if you would like.

On July 15, 2021, I was driving my vehicle 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee in my town. My daughter was sitting in the front seat of the vehicle. As I was driving, the passenger headrest deployed unexpectedly for no reason. I heard a loud pop and then my daughter scream as the headrest hit her in the back of the head. She was not injured. I have no idea why this occurred. I went home and researched this online and discovered several articles in which similar incidents have occurred with other people in similar vehicles. I contacted the dealership to see if they were any recalls for this particular issue and I was told no. Also, the representative from the dealership told me they had talked with a supervisor and did not know what I was talking about.

The active head restraint on the driver side deployed while stopped. There was no rear end collision. It hit me in the back of the head and startled me, glad I was stopped. There seams to be a defect in the plastic parts in the head rest where the metal bar in there is installed. This certainly could have caused an accident if I was in motion on they highway and was distracted by this sudden deployment.

Both the front driver and front passenger headrests have deployed in the past 1 year; however, the vehicle was not involved in an accident or collision to cause such deployment. The vehicle was parked when each headrest deployed. This is clearly a defect of the vehicle. The Jeep dealership estimated the cost to repair at approximately $800 per headrest, which I will not pay, because this is not an issue caused by me. It is a vehicle defect, and needs to be recalled immediately as evidenced by the many news articles online related to this topic. It is very dangerous and could cause serious harm to someone.

MY JEEP HAS DIED ON ME AS I'M TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT RATES OF SPEED BETWEEN 60-75 MPH. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO COAST TO SIDE OF ROAD FORTUNATELY SO FAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. IT WILL USUALLY START BACK UP IN ABOUT 15 MINS. A FEW TIMES IT TOOK LONGER. THERE IS NO WARNING, IT JUST LOSES POWER AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH AND WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL IN USE.

THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $4K TO FIX, THE PART IS BACK ORDERED, THERE'S 4 CARS BEFORE ME GETTING THE SAME PROBLEM FIXED. THERE'S OVER 150K PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME THING. THEY TOLD ME IF I DRIVE MY CAR IT WOULD CAUSE IT TO SHUT DOWN AND THEN IT WOULDN'T BE FIXABLE. BUT JEEP REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY KNOW THIS IS THEIR FAULT. ON TOP OF THAT, MY FUEL RELAY IS RECALLED WITH NO SOLUTION AND MY JEEP COULD TURN OFF ON ME AT ANY MOMENT. THEY TOLD THE TRANSFER CASE IS NOT RECALLED BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND REFUSE TO FIX IT.

THEN MORE ELECTRICAL ISSUES OCCURRED, THE LIGHTS FLICKERED, THE REAR CAMERA STOPPED WORKING, AND THEN DRIVING THE CAR EVENTUALLY THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND IT WAS DANGEROUS AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE 405 FREE WAY AND I WAS UNABLE TO PULL OVER WITH OUT POWER STEERING.

MY 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND STARTED TO SMOKING FROM THE ALTERNATOR AND BURNED UP ALMOST CATCHING FIRE. THERE WAS A RECALL THAT THEY ONLY LOOKED AT THE ALTERNATOR NEVER REPLACING IT. I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS RECALL, I WANT TO BE CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THIS FAULTY PART THAT ALMOST CAUGHT MY JEEP ON FIRE. I FEEL THIS PART SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE JEEP WAS RUNNING STATIONARY WHEN IT STARTED WHISTLING AND MAKING A BAD NOICE. ONCE I STARTED TO DRIVE IT TO AUTO ZONE IT GOT WORSE AND STARTED SMOKING, MAKING A LOUD WHISTLING SOUND AND CHOKING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE. WHEN I PULLED INTO AUTO ZONE IT WAS SMOKING BAD, SMELT ELECTRIC BURNING AND IT WAS ALL COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED 60 MILES BACK HOME AND ANOTHER 12 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT NEXT MONDAY MORNING BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED ON A SUNDAY WHEN EVERYTHING WAS CLOSED. IF IT'S A RECALL I WANT IT REPLACED, TOW PAID FOR AND THE TIME IT'S BEEN OUT OF COMMISSION.

THE VEHICLE HAS STOPPED DEAD ON AT LEAST 8 OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST YEAR. THE CAR IS RUNNING AND MOVING BUT SUDDENLY STOPS. NO LIGHTS NO MOTOR NOISE NO ABILITY TO STEER OFF THE ROAD. IT SEEMS TO OCCUR AT CITY SPEEDS AND STREETS NEVER ON A HIGHWAY NOTHING HAS SHOWED UP ON DIAGNOSTICS AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO FIX IT. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG ON DIAGNOSTICS SO THERE IS NOTHING TO FIX. THE DEALERSHIPS HEAD MECHANIC IS NOT RETURNING CALLS. I WAS RESEARCHING AND FOUND THAT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL INCLUDING 2011 TO 2014. MINE IS 2013. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT SPEAK TO THIS ISSUE. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT A TAKAYUKI RECALL IS, I GAVE THE LAST DATE THIS HAPPEND.

WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ONE NIGHT MY JEEP STARTED MAKING A WHINING SOUND. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE HEATER SINCE IT WAS 12 DEGREES OUTSIDE THAT NIGHT. I LEAVE FOR WORK, GET ABOUT 6 MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND MY JEEP STARTS FAILING. WARNING LIGHTS, BATTERY, TRACTION CONTROL, WIPERS SLOWLY GO ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD, LIGHTS DIMMING. I GOT TO A SAFE SPOT TO PULL OVER BUT IN THE PROCESS OF STOPPING MY VEHICLE LOST ALL FUNCTIONALOTY (NO BREAKS, POWER STEERING, LIGHTS, ALL ELECTRONICS GONE) AND COULDNT STOP. IT FINALLY STOPS AND I'M LEFT WITH A COMPLETELY DEAD VEHICLE. 12AM IN FREEZING WEATHER WHILE 5 MONTHS PREGNANT. WHEN MY BOYFRIEND ARRIVED TO GET ME, HE NOTICED A STRONG BURNING SMELL COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AT THIS TIME THE VEHICLE HAD SAT BARELY OUT OF THE ROAD IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT WITH NO HAZARDS POSSIBLE TO ALLOW OTHER DRIVERS TO SEE ME. WE FIND OUT THAT THERE IS AN ALTERNATOR RECALL ON MY JEEP AND TAKE IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AS SOON AS SCHEDULING ALLOWED. BEFORE ALTERNATOR BLEW MY JEEP HAD ZERO ISSUES. THEY HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 4 DAYS AND CALLED TO SAY MY JEEP WAS FIXED (NO LOANER CAR OFFERED). I GO UP THE NEXT DAY, THEY REPLACED THE PCM AND ALTERNATOR, THEY SAY NOTHING ELSE. I GO TO START MY JEEP AND IT CRANKS FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND STARTS. NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. I GO BACK INSIDE TO THE DEALER WHO HAS SAID NOTHING THE LAST 2 DAYS ABOUT MY VEHICLE NOT RUNNING PROPERLY AND THEY TELL ME IT IS MY CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. AND THEY SAID THEY COULDNT PROMISE THE CAR WOULD MAKE IT HOME AND IT WAS MY PROBLEM. UNHAPPY WITH RESULTS WE CALL CHRYSLER AND THEY TELL THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THAT. IT DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEMS CONTINUE AND CHRYSLER IS NO LONGER WILLING TO FIX OBVIOUS DAMAGE FROM THEIR ALTERNATOR FAILURE FRYING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO TOLD ME TO FILE A "FAKE" FIRE CLAIM ON MY INSURANCE. STILL UNRESOLVED.

THE CAR HAS BEEN UNABLE TO START PROPERLY AND SHAKES VIOLENTLY BEFORE JUST COMPLETELY SHUTTING ITSELF OFF WITHOUT PROMPT. I THEN CALLED JEEP DIRECTLY WHO TOLD ME THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE AND THAT I SHOULD LEAVE MY CAR AT JEEP. THAT WAS 3 WEEK AGO. ALL OF MY ATTEMPT TO CONTACT JEEP TO HAVE THEM RECTIFY THE ISSUE AND REPLACE MY HEADREST HAVE GONE NO WHERE. APR 30, 2015: VEHICLE TAKEN TO SAME DEALERSHIP TO CHECK A BUZZING SOUND IN THE RH SUN VISOR AREA, SERVICE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE CUSTOMER COMPLAINT. MAY 19, 2015: SUDDEN ACRID SMOKE ODOR DETECTED WHILE DRIVING, PULLED TO CURB AND TURNED OFF MOTOR. SOME SMOKE INHALATION BUT NO BURN INJURIES TO DRIVER. NOTICED BLACK AND WHITE MELTED AREAS ON RH SUN VISOR, RH VANITY MIRROR AND RH HEADLINER. EXTERNAL ROOF AREA ABOVE THE RH SUN VISOR HAD APPROXIMATE 3" CRACK AND THE PAINT WAS SPLIT OPEN FROM THE EXTREME HEAT, DIGITAL PHOTOS TAKEN. ON JUN 30, 2015, WE LEARNED THE "THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE P36 REPAIR, BUT WAS FOR ANOTHER CAUSE". ON JUL 10, 2015, WE LEARNED THE P36 REPAIR PLASTIC SHROUD WAS INTACT AND THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS FOUND IN THE WIRING HARNESS ABOVE THE SUN VISOR IN THE HEADLINER AREA. CHRYSLER JEEP DENIED OUR WARRANTY REPAIR REQUEST ON JUL 24, 2015, BECAUSE THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE COULD NOT BE TRACED BACK TO A FACTORY DEFECT IN MATERIALS OR WORKMANSHIP. ON JUL 27, 2015, OUR LOCAL CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER DECIDED TO REPAIR OUR VEHICLE, AT THEIR COST, BECAUSE WE WERE VALUED CUSTOMERS, BUT THE DECISION CAME THE SAME DAY A LETTER WAS READ BY THE DEALERSHIP GENERAL MANAGER THAT SAID WE MAY PURSUE A REMEDY USING THE CALIFORNIA LEMON LAW. WE FOUND THERE WERE MORE THAN 91 OTHER SIMILAR INCIDENTS IN 2011-2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND DODGE DURANGO VEHICLES, AND AT LEAST 8 MORE EXPERIENCED FIRES AFTER THE P36 SAFETY RECALL REPAIR HAD BEEN COMPLETED.
