Hello I have a 2014 grand Cherokee 3.6 and the oil cooler went out again .. this is TH 3RD TIME. The last 2 times I pay out of pocket for it but now 3 different mechanics told me there’s either a recall or something with the oil cooler when jeep has to fix it. I purchased a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. The seller claimed the mileage was around 76,800 at the time of sale. After the purchase, a vehicle history report (Carfax/AutoCheck) showed that the actual mileage was approximately 223,000. This means the odometer reading was rolled back or misrepresented. The title paperwork shows a false mileage disclosure. This problem puts consumers at risk because the true condition of the vehicle is hidden, making it unsafe to rely on maintenance records or expected performance. It is also a violation of federal odometer laws. The issue has been confirmed by the vehicle history report, and all documents are available for inspection if requested.

I was stopped in traffic at approximately 16:00 on Tuesday 5/27/2025. All of the sudden the drivers side headrest deployed with force, hitting me in the back of my head and pushing my head and neck forward. Since the incident I am experiencing pain in my neck.

While driving on the interstate suddenly my jeep switched gears I was able to put back in drive and pull over. After pulling over and jeep being put in park it wouldn’t go back into drive, after 3 attempts turning car off and back on again it finally shifted to drive. I was able to at least get home and put it in garage. It now will not go into reverse at all, I try frequently, this happened a few months ago, I also called and reported issue but was never told I had to get online and fill out a form etc. I can’t afford to pay for this big of a repair. It seems this issue has occurred on several 2014 jeeps. This was extremely scary and unsafe to say the least even more so with my kids in the car. I hope I can get this taken care of and finally have a vehicle again. I had a recall on the dash of my Jeep due to the leather wrinkling.I had very slight wrinkling, so I honored the recall and took it to the dealership. They replaced the leather which seemed to fix the problem, well WRONG, they put the leather down with no adhesive to keep it in place. Long story short, it began having some puckering in the middle,now the whole dash looks like a wrinkled bed sheet and its totally lifted along the bottom of the windshield, which has caused my defrost vent to lift out of place and resricts airflow. This resricts my visibility when the defrost cannot blow accurately. I took it back to the dealership to show them,and to tell them that it's worse than before I brought it to them, and if I had've known this would happen, I would have left it alone! I showed them that they Obviously didn't put adhesive under the leather, the just laid and tucked it! They said they couldn't repair it. I took it to get it assessed and as soon as he saw it, he said "This was OBVIOUSLY installed Wrong!"

The active headrest restraint system deployed without being in a crash or hitting a bump for that matter. The vehicle was sitting stationary when it deployed. This could be a major safety issue as I have had a history of concussions and if this were to have deployed while I was driving, the consequences could have been severe. I see that they expanded a 10 year warranty for this, but it deployed a couple of months after that 10 year warranty expired. This should be covered for lifetime as it is a malfunctioning safety component that could seriously injure someone or render them incapacitated at highway speeds. All of this is due to a plastic clip failing that holds a metal pin.

My instrument cluster (where the speed, gas level, engine temperature, etc. Is displayed) had completely blacked out. It was periodically coming on. But it's not coming on at all anymore. I've taken it to the dealership, had it replaced (with a used part), had the wiring checked, also tried reprogramming the instrument cluster. Nothing has worked. There was a recall for this same exact problem, with the same exact vehicle except my vehicle was manufactured 3 months after the recall notice called for vehicle manufactured through Aug 2013 my was November 2013. I feel that my vehicle also should've been part of that recall notice.

-The passenger seat head rest popped open (exploded - it was super loud) when in the process of backing up out of my driveway. - The safety of everyone in the car was put at risk. My husband was in the seat and was hit in the back of the head. My son, his wife and their 2 month old daughter was in the back seat. - The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by anyone. It just happend last night. - It has not been inspected yet either. - There was no indication of any issue with the head rest. There was no collision or problem prior to the rest rest popping open (or exploding, seriously).

I was driving home from dinner and while driving I got a notification on the dashboard and then few moments later it locked up and everything started turning off. Incuding the radio, AC but not the car. The car would not drive once I got it on the side of the road. The car would not turn off due to not being able to place car in park. It was stuck in drive. My husband had to come over and put his foot on brake and take over the wheel. He then hit the power button for 5 seconds and it went into park and turned off. We called a tow company to take it to dealership to get fixed. We seen we had some recalls so we asked if that was the issue they said yes and ordered parts to fix. Days and weeks went on got car back and when I drove home my car I will say does not feel safe for me to be in nor be on the road. I had smoke inside my car where battery is when on side of road which one day will be where my kids are. Also they said nothing was wrong with alternator but when on side of road I could smell burnt alternator. They said was fine and recall wasn't needed. I do not feel safe at all nor does my husband feel safe driving the car. Dealership we bought from never told us about the recalls when we bought in 2020, and now this dealership saying it doesn't need to be done we do not feel the car is safe to be on road and will be fire hazard down road.

The shifter has a manufacturer issue the car while it is accelerating throws itself into neutral on its own. The car could be in drive and it'll throw itself into sports mode on its own. It'll drop down the acceleration on its own as if it's shifting on its own. Car could be put into park and the shifter will throw it into neutral or in reverse. Contacted Chrysler they refusing to honor the recall cleaning there's an expiration date. This has been reported to you guys many people have the same issue ( 19V447) I literally almost died with what the shifter is doing and I need them to honor their recall this is a safety hazard that can kill or answer anyone easily

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The passenger-side Active Headrest of my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee exploded as I was driving last week. After inspecting it myself, it appears that the plastic parts that hold the headrest together broke. This seems to be a common problem after googling the issue. It is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This could have caused a head injury. I am worried that if the driver's side headrest explodes while I am driving that it could cause injury or cause me to crash. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The dealership I spoke to said that the warranty had been extended for these active headrests (So it is a known issue) but that extension is expired so I would have to pay out of pocket to have them replaced. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? This happened spontaneously with no warning.

I was travelling down the road at approximately 30 mph and my the active headrest on the passenger side randomly deployed. This caused an extremely loud noise that sounded like an explosion. This caused me to swerve and slam on the brakes. It was unclear, at the time, what was happening. This has now caused extreme anxiety that it will happen on the driver side, while I am driving, and cause bodily harm or cause me to wreck, which could be potentially fatal. It appears that the clips that were holding it on just broke, or gave out, causing the deployment. After researching this I have found that this is a well known problem with this vehicle and has caused injury to others. When looking up my VIN number it says there are no recalls. It appears as though this is an expensive fix, which should be covered in full because it was a known default that Jeep continued to manufacture in the same way. I am not having to drive Leaning forward, because of fear of injuries if the drivers side does the same. And passengers have to ride with a deployed headrest that will not provide the protection it was supposed to provide in the event of a wreck, and that could cause additional harm because of it already being deployed.

The problem with my vehicle is with emissions system which was covered under the Ecodiesel Extended Warranty lawsuit the EPA filed against the manufacturer Stellantis. My jeep has been down at Crystler Dodge Jeep Ram dealerships for 2 years. The extended warranty states they would repair problems, but they have not. I was told today that they will only give me 8741 for my car but they want to keep it. I’ve had to go to the hospital twice from the first dealership that had my car for a whole year giving me carbon monoxide poisoning. I’ve been paying full coverage insurance for 2 years. This manufacturer has placed and is placing me in a hardship. They said they would/ coukd repair my car and stayed in writing they would have certified techs working on my car, they had the parts manager working on my car and almost killed me. Now, their leadership is trying to bully me into selling them my car for this low ball amount. Why didn’t they offer to buyback before putting me through 2 years of hell. Is it Leah’s to breach a binding legal contract they agreed to honor. I am aware they are to suffer penalties for not honoring the warranty, and for not keeping databases updated by VIN. I was told my parts weren’t covered for months, I had to constantly show them the warranty said the parts were covered they trying to charge me for. I want my vehicle fixed under the extended warranty. I want compensation for this excessive time, and for them not honoring the consent decree they told the EPA and NHTSA they would honor. Please help me get my vehicle fixed under my extended warranty. My car is covered til 199,189 miles or May 13, 2024. I really need help, the manufacturer is not adhering to the consent decree they promised the government and NHTSA they would.

My youngest son was away at college, using the vehicle to go to and from class. He was driving the Jeep home for summer break when suddenly, the wipers turned on and the dashboard warning lights lit up the dash like a Christmas tree. He did not know what to do, who would? Then the dashboard went completely black. He tried turning off the wipers and then suddenly the car shifted into park in the middle of traffic all on its own, with cars on both sides. He was fortunate that he was not rear-ended and severely injured. My son is a cautious driver, as he fears any accident that could end his athletic career. He pulled over and turned the jeep off and then on and things looked normal. No more flashing dash warning lights, so he continued down the road, hazard lights on, paying close attention to vehicles around him. The dashboard warning lights were flashing repeatedly, vehicle auto shifting itself, dash going completely black and vehicle stalling in moving traffic...this happened several times on his way home. What my son experienced on the road, has happened to me several times since. It is a very frightening and dangerous experience. I believe I have been grossly misled by Chrysler Jeep Sales and continue to be misled about the soundness of my vehicle and the after reporting to the AutoNation (Chrysler Jeep) Service Department, the dangerous situation my family was in by driving my Jeep, I feel I was not dealt with fairly. Is this how they treat all customers or is it because I am Latina and a woman? With a vehicle with so many recalls, so many complaints and so many investigations by the NHTSA, it is a wonder why it is still on the road. Those who know would say, because no one has died, yet. Should that be the accepted answer or response? Should someone have to lose their life before this vehicle is taken off the road? Please see my attached document. In Aug my warning light came on, I called Mopar was given a case number it was not until October that I was contacted after repeatedly calling for status. The is was the EGR Cooler which Mopar showed had been replaced when recall issued, I was advised by Stellantis to have towed to dealer, it was towed Oct 15, dealer advised it was replaced a few years earlier but I provided proof it had not, dealer then replaced but then advised it could not be cranked due to not holding coolant, it was not doing this prior to being towed. I then asked for the outstanding recalls to be completed, they advised no parts…I see now one is showing incomplete that should have been done, the other is a problem with part, I called after receiving a letter those parts were in and they said they were not, I then called you and was advised I am on a list to have this completed. Within 48 hours, I experienced two issues: First, we were driving on the highway at a speed of 75 mph when suddenly the front driver's side tire pressure indicator began to ramp up and eventually topped out at 86. We stopped to check the tire pressure at a gas station, and it was really 41. We got back on the highway and the pressure gauge continued to decrease / increase with no rhyme or reason. It eventually went back to the correct pressure. A few days later, we were driving on the highway at 75 mph with the navigation set for an address that was about 60 minutes away. Quite randomly, the navigation voice came on and said "re-route" and wanted us to take a right turn (there was no way to turn or anywhere we could go). Bizarre! It seems like the car's circuitry/sensors are failing. It's alarming.

It has happened twice in 48hrs, driving then all of sudden indicates not in gear. Pull over , will not go back in gear. Will have to wait. Then later on starts. Then is no indication no warning. This is extremely life threatening.

When vehicle has not been sitting overnight or a long period, the initial start does not engage. My mechanic referred to it as a long cold start. To work around this I will push the start button with my foot off the break pedal and let vehicle cycle through whatever. I can then start as normal. Using the key fob the startup happens cleanly. My mechanic said there is a complicated TSB on this issue but I am unable to locate. They have verified it’s not a fuel pressure issue.

The vehicle was running but in park. I was putting air in my tires and heard something. I looked towards the passenger front and seen smoke coming from up front. The air ride pump caught on fire and melted wires, hoses, and the inner fender cover. I was able to put it out quickly.

I own a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5,7 summit trim, I've been experienced a very scary situation with this car on last 4 months, with no warnings this vehicle completely shuts-off, with no power, no radio, no dash lights. For few times happened on my drive way, but most the times I was on highway running between 45 to 70 mph, its come from the blue. But after the engine stops, it just restart like nothing had happened, no lights on dash no warnings. I left this truck on sandy Sansing dealer ( Milton Florida (850)6236866 like 4 times, they replace few sensors and update software on first time, but day after I was there again, and again and again. Now, they have my car o shop for over 40 days but they can find or replicate de issue, of course to replicate the issue you need to drive the car, and according with then they drove the car for 50 miles with no issues( and of course nobody wants to drive a car that can stops in any minute ). I ask the Dealer if a fuel pump could cause that, they had no clue, but they gave me a price for replace both, so at this point I'm extremely frustrate, cause I've a car with a brand new engine that always was serviced on Jeep Dealer, that I can't use and who has all technical capability is incompetent to fix. I saw lots of cases like mine on internet. I could get someone or my self kill. Any help is deeply appreciate

traveling on S Sterling Street in Morganton, NC on the morning of July 12, 2023. We were going speed limit20 mph on a one way street, then car made rumbling sound and accelerated on its own at approximately 60-70 mph. I put on brakes,but car did not slow down...weaved thru traffic to avoid hitting anyone..could not get car to slow down and unfortunately hit a car in front of us. All persons were taken to hospital..myself, my wife and person in the other car that was impacted. All persons suffered broken bones. Both cars were totaled. Since accident have read up on this type vehicle accelerating on its own. We were lucky no one was killed. This needs to be looked into before it takes a life.

We were driving on the freeway doing about 70mph when without warning the glass sunroof exploded. Not knowing what had happened we pulled over and opened the shade slider and glass rained into the vehicle. Had the shade not been closed, all the passengers would have been hit with flying glass. We did not see anything that would indicate something hit the vehicle; it seemed to just explode for no reason.

Vehicle shifts into neutral when driving down the road and then dies. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it does it everyday, sometimes it doesn't do it for 6 days. Seems to happen within 3 to 7 miles of driving the vehicle. Took to Jeep dealer to see if they could figure it out. Over a month later and $1000.00 Jeep dealer replaced the PCM Pin (?) and checked wiring. Picked up the Jeep and 6 days later on way home from work it shifts into neutral going 58 mph down the road and stalls. 30 mins before it would start back up and allow me to drive it. Never any check engine light on, never and noises or chugging, the vehicle does this with no warning and after 5 to 30 minutes will start back up like nothing happened.

I've been experiencing an issue with the brakes on the vehicle not operating properly since 2022. The vehicle does not brake normally, and the brake pedal must be pressed completely down to the floor, or pumped repeatedly before the vehicle begins to slow, and when it does slow, the brakes are less than responsive. There have been several instances where despite allowing extra stopping distance and pressing the brakes all the way to the floor, the vehicle does not stop normally, and I've come dangerously close to being involved in a collision as a result. I've reported these issues to Jeep in the past when the vehicle was there for service, but it was not adequately evaluated. I replaced both front and rear brake pads and rotors, only to have the issue continue. On 6/27/23 when my vehicle was in the body shop for unrelated repairs, the body shop conducted a brake diagnosis and confirmed the stiff break pedal when attempting to brake. They verified the appropriate vacuum at brake booster and vacuum sensor, and disconnected the brake booster sensor and smoke tested the brake booster to find smoke leaking into the main cabin area. They recommended replacing the brake booster assembly with water shed per TSB, and re-checking. They noted that the Vacuum brake booster has failed, and TSB is available in regards to installing water shield with new brake booster, under safety recall T59/NHTSA 17V-572. Once body work was completed, we took the vehicle to Perkins Jeep for the open recalls and requested repair of the brake booster, but were told this isn't a Jeep problem, and that it should have been taken care of at the body shop under insurance-- even though this brake issue was pre-existing to the body damage to the vehicle. Jeep states they do not have the OEM parts to repair this issue and other open recalls at this time, and there is a waiting list.

Gear switching to Neutral while driving, stops abruptly, steering locks up, and the vehicle shuts down completely. In order to restart, the battery requires a jump. The battery is fairly new and shows good voltage. 05/29/2023 (UPDATE) The issue was corrected with the installation of a new battery. Although the battery (2.5 years old) was indicating good voltage levels during testing, it would dip below 9v while driving. As explained by the Jeep dealer mechanic, this was causing the vehicle to immediately shut down, lock steering, and abruptly halt. I believe it’s still a safety issue. If I had been on the freeway, it would have likely created a serious danger to anyone unable to stop, or maneuver, in time.

My jeep has been at the dealership for a year prior to this. On February 21,2023 I gave them a list of a weird smell in my cabin, broken, and missing parts. I was sent an email on the ‘March 14, 2023 saying my jeep was fixed and ready I went in on March 17, 2023 to pick up my jeep, from what I could see the broken pieces were repaired. I got in proceeded to drive, after I went maybe 16 miles one way, I had to turn around, there was a weird smell in my cabin. My eyes, and nose started running and my head was feeling weird. I already have COPD. I found the service manager, he went out and got a technician, the tech stuck his head into the jeep and said it was antifreeze. I told him I don’t know what it is, but I feel weird. They proceeded to lift the hood and there was black smoke, the tech said the “PVC” hose was disconnected. I didn’t know what that was, I left the jeep there. I didn’t feel well throughout the weekend, went to my Dr. Monday March 20, 2023. I had a very bad headache, short of breath, nausea, just feeling really bad and run down. I was told it was possible carbon monoxide poisoning, especially since that PVC hose not connected would distribute exhaust into the cabin. I was then taken back to the emergency room on Sunday March 26, 2023, I couldn’t stop vomiting, stomach hurt so bad and headache. I reached out to the dealership, and informed them what happened. They never replied back. I need help please, I’m a disabled U.S. Air Force retired veteran with COPD and other medical conditions. This situation is unacceptable. I’ve tried to get a meeting with the owners, on several occasions. Since they had my engine taken apart and just sitting out back of their dealership for months. I want the engine replaced completely, or they can send my jeep to another dealership to make sure the engine is complete and fixed. This could have killed me!

While stopped at a drive-through with my foot on my break, my head rest exploded, forcing my head forward. There was no accident and it deployed at random. The passive restraint system failed. Had vehicle been in motion it would’ve been a public safety risk. Appointment at the service center of the dealership has been made. It has not yet been inspected.

First issue is that I had to replace the Uconnect system this year. It had been on the fritz for some time and updates could not be made to the old system. It would constantly go black. Second issue 2017-$30,000 Miles is that the Replaced steering rack and pinion and align 600 suspension and chassis 4778. Replaced the Leaking Rack and Pinion and passenger front caliper due to sticking bleeder valve 300 bakes. 11/2017 Evaporative System SEAL canister. 2018 Power Brake Booster/vacuum leak and braking issue. Replaced Radio. $1200 ish. Drove car 2/21 50,221 - 10/2022 53,000. October 2022 daughter driving car, gear slipping and engine light comes on and pulls over car not shifting at all into gear. Towed to Jeep where NEEDS NEW TRANSMISSION plus at 53,000 miles!!! $15,00 plus quoted at JEEP.

My son started the Jeep Monday morning and the engine light came on which has never happened before. Then something occurred under the hood and there was a fire. Luckily my son was able to get to a garden hose and put out the fire but now I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has fire damage and needs to be taken into a Jeep dealership for repairs. I have only had the vehicle for a little over 2 years.

On several occasions, while driving between 30 - 70 miles per hour - car goes into neutral by itself leaving you trying to steer the car to the side of the road under multiple risky situations. When pulled over - car can be put into park but if your foot is on the brake pedal the car sputters and won't shut off until brake pedal is released. You can still steer the car to the side of the road but no acceleration is possible. Restarting the car isn't possible for about 20 - 30 minutes. Most occurrence have happened on the interstate. There are no warning signs prior to the occurrences and it's extremely scary trying to get to safety. Diagnostics have been completed by Jeep dealerships and other repair shops and it's been stated all recalls have been made to this car in the past. The fact the car goes into neutral itself is scary. The most recent event puts the total of occurrences at 15 since I have owned the car. No one seems to have an explanation --all I know is its very dangerous especially on the freeway. I would like to know what can be done to get this resolved before someone get hurt.

The head rest on the passenger side has dismantled. I believe it’s an air bag system but am not too sure. The cushion and the plastic part have split and show a few wires. I have not been in any type of collision for the head rest to go ahead and give out like that.

My vehicle has a recall with the parts not available, I crash without prior warning, and injured. I have contact FCA US and other customer care numbers provided. My vehicle was repaired for the outer damage due to the collision, but my vehicle does not pass emission due to parts not being available. My car is drivable with very little power and can only drive a very low speed and locally. I have called about this matter for over a month and afraid that I will get in to another accident. I have not received information on when parts will be available. I had it checked and most probable other components require replacing due to the recall. This put me at risk and could have put my children at risk.

The AHR on the driver's side activated while the vehicle was parked and the driver was hit in the neck. Upon inspection, the plastic tabs that keep the pin in place, keeping the whole apparatus in the off position, broke off.

Uconnect NAV 8.4N updated to the latest firmware when purchased in July of 2020. Currently it will reboot randomly and go to a black screen. At which point it will blast the heater and the radio at full volume while driving. Extremely terrifying and dangerous. Uconnect says it’s not their problem as it is an 8 year old system. Seems like they should be held accountable for forcing drivers into a DISTRACTED driver situation. Repeatedly. So far the only fix I have found is to pull over immediately and restart the vehicle. I am about to purchase an aftermarket unit to replace this dangerous item that is also affecting the resale value of said vehicle.

The shifter system (monostable shifter/ electronic shift module) malfunctioned 4 times so far. It has been to the dealer 3 times and the following has been replaced: the electronic shift module, the shift head/knob, the electronic shift module again, and finally the wiring itself, and now 10 miles after picking up my car that was being serviced since Monday (it is Friday now), I have the same issue and it makes my car stuck in first or second gear, I cannot shift into park or out of drive unless I shut the engine off, it puts my car into limp mode and won't let me accelerate or else the car jerks, my infotainment screen intermittently shuts off, and I get the following warning lights and messages: Check engine light, Braking system light, TPMS light, traction control light, "Service Electronic Braking System" message, "Service Shifter" message with OBD code U1467, "Service Power Steering" message, "Service Transmission- Continue in D. Do not shift or turn engine off" message. The PRND lights on the shift knob also flash. This is very dangerous as my car cannot be shifted out of drive (into park), the car won't accelerate or move above whatever speed 1st gear or 2nd gear will allow me to, the car physically jerks forward, and whatever systems like power steering, braking, etc. that may be affected based on the warning lights. I only get the diagnostic code U1467 which is for the shifter, though.

On multiple occasions, after steady driving for approximately 1 hour the vehicle will suddenly begin decelerating. This has happened while driving in the highway. Once the car is stopped and turned off for approximately 10 minutes, the car will drive normally and accelerate to normal speeds.

The headrest spontaneously popped open and hit me hard in the back of the head while I was driving yesterday. This was dangerous for a number of reason, primary because it could have caused an accident but also the headrest hit me so hard that it seams as if i have a mild concussion. Last night i had a sever headache and neck strain and today I went home early from work for the same reason. It seems as if the problem has occurred to several others as well but no attempt has been made to inform drivers of this dangerous defect. The vehicle has not been inspected but I plan on taking it into my local jeep dealership. No warning was seen prior to the problem.

While driving on the freeway at normal speed limit the vehicle has on 2 separate occasions gone into neutral without the driver touching anything. we have taken the vehicle in twice to dealership who have tried to replicate the symptom. They have kept and driven car on multiple occasions with no success . They tell us they cannot fix the problem without a code if they cannot find it. i have called jeep customer service multiple times and they filed a case number but refuse to get back to me when i leave messages. Jeep Cherokee model 2014 had 81000 recalls for a transmission software issue but not the Grand Cherokee model. This vehicle is clearly very dangerous to drive and my son who was driving nearly had a very serious accident when this happened. What am i to do. i cannot let anyone drive this vehicle . Jeep are not interested in helping the dealership get to the bottom of this issue. i cannot sell the vehicle knowing there is a critical issue with the safety of the vehicle and if someone buys it and gets hurt or killed i probably have a liability. The dealership keeps trying to find it but it may not happen again for weeks or months, like looking for a needle in a haystack. case number with Jeep is 81105546 Please help i am at a loss what to do. The engine oil and filter was recently changed and a few days later oil is now leaking down the engine bay onto the exhaust and onto the skid plates. The correct torque was used and oil filter seal as well as the drain plug are dry. The canister housing has either cracked or seals have failed on that part. It is a known issue with an upgraded part available from FCA. I did not notice it until arriving home after a 20 mile drive and oil was everywhere. this could have caused a fire as there was no warning and no expectation of a leak. Opened a case with FCA to report that this part has failed on my vehicle. Case #80756602

In 2018, my 2014 Chrysler/Jeep Grand Cherokee dashboard material had started to dislodge from the dash. I reached out to Jeep and they denied anything was wrong with the dash on their end and it was my fault for improper care of the car. I found this to be in contrast with research online of a large amount of complaints for the same model as mine suffering the same dashboard glue issues. In December of 2019, I received a notice from Jeep that they would be replacing the dashboard so in January of 2020 I dropped my car off at the local dealership, Joey Accardi. After not hearing from them, I sent an email on February 12, 2020 requesting an update. They advised they submitted a request for approval of the replacement to Jeep and were waiting to hear back. I picked up my vehicle as they could not provide a replacement timeline. After waiting several months I reached out to Jeep customer care Reference #75788102 and they advised they attempted to reach out to the dealership for an update with no response. After getting a response several days later they advised it was ordered and should arrive shortly. After waiting to hear back through the rest of 2020, I reached out again in February of 2021 to Jeep customer care Reference #78420942 and they "escalated" my issue to someone who called the dealership and was told it would arrive in May of 2021. They closed my case on February 5th without any further help or confirmation of receipt of part. I reached out again today, September 9th and received no help or any indication of replacement timeline. It has now been 3 years since I brought this to Jeeps attention and 22 months since they authorized replacement. My concern now is the dashboard material has dislodged two of my AC vents and has folded over where my airbag would deploy potentially causing harm or failure if the airbag were to attempt to deploy. This is clearly an issue with this year and model Jeep and they aren't remedying it potentially putting people in danger.

I have received notices about Recall W79/NHTSA 20V-699 "Important Safety Recall". I went to my local dealer and they told me the parts are not available. They said they would put me on a waiting list, but that I'm number 162 on the list and they are currently working a number from November of 2019. I called FCA to complain. They directed me to another dealer in the area. That dealer made an appointment and then canceled it due to no parts availability and said they'd put me "on the waiting list". They gave no time frame. I just received another notice urging me to get this urgent safety recall fixed. My take is that FCA is dragging their feet in hopes that the longer they delay, the less repairs they will have to do.

Randomly my grand Cherokee overland 4wd stared spraying oil all over the rear of the vehicle. Took it to jeep and they said the rear deferential was shot and that the hose had melted off due to over heating. The vehicle never once displayed any indication of any failure or overheating. When I asked how could there not be any warning lights I was told it just happens. After researching this issue I discovered it's a very common problem. My concern is the vehicle could have easily locked up and caused the vehicle to flip or cause an accident with no warning.

The active head restraint on the passenger on the passenger side deployed without any collision. We came out one morning to just find this popped open and it will not reset. It has to go to the dealer for repair (scheduled 6/23) but could have caused serious injury if it deployed while someone was sitting in the seat.

The vehicle reported a low battery followed by numerous other warnings in sequence and then within a few seconds stalled and would not restart. Upon taking the vehicle to the garage, the alternator (and consequently battery) needed to be replaced. Reading other Jeep Grand Cherokee recalls, to me the indecent sounds exactly like the NHTSA Campaign ID: 14V634000 - where ''the alternator fails and the vehicle may stall'. At approximately 2:00 PM, on January 17, 2021, my wife was sitting in the front passenger seat of our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit waiting for me so that we can drive to Columbus, GA for my brother's funeral. Then, for no reason at all, the headrest of the passenger popped open. My wife screamed because she thought someone was hiding in the back seat and had smacked her on the back of her head. We don't know why it happened but would like for it to be fixed by Jeep. A replacement headset was estimated to cost about $1000.00.

I currently own 2 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees that suffer from this issue, and found numerous complaints online regarding this dash board delamination issue. Back in 2020 we received a letter indicating that the dash was part of the X81 campaign to send in proof of repair to be reimbursed by the program, however, since we did not know we needed to take it in for this, the form was never completed as the repairs were never done. (this repair is over 2000$ of which we do not have due to covid and the shut down of my wife job) Then I purchased another 2014 in which the dash was in way worse shape. I was under the impression that due to the previous letter that the repair should be covered under the X81. however, the dealer has informed me that the extension was only good for 6 months. On top of that, the parts are taking up to 1-2 years to receive. Also, if I had owned my SRT Jeep back when this campaign was done, given the current condition, I would have had the repair done or had ordered the parts for it. It is my thoughts that this dash, being as common as this is, should be covered due to me not owning the vehicle and the paperwork not being clear about the process could be completed by the dealer at no charge. To me it looked like I had to pay it, and would be reimbursed. I asked if they would be willing to sell me the part at a discounted rate, but the warranty department said there is nothing I could do. To me, this dash issue causes a driving distraction as the dash is in such poor shape, at least with my SRT, that i find myself looking at it, instead of the road.

EVERYWHERE I READ SAYS THESE CARS A NOW FOR THE SHIFTER PROBLEM BUT DOESN'T APPEAR TO HAVE A RECALL FOR MY EXACT VIN. WE HAD TO STOP DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE WE ARE SCARED IT IS GOING TO GET US IN A WRECK. THE JEEP DEALER NEAR US SAID THAT WE NEED A NEW ELECTRONIC SHIFTER. IT IS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL EARLY FEBRUARY. WHAT CAN WE DO TO GET THIS REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE HORRIBLE WRECKS. WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD GETTING READY TO TURN ONTO AND I70 ON RAMP WHEN THE CAR JUST WENT TO NEUTRAL AND STOPPED. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY FOR MAYBE A COUPLE OF MINUTES WHILE WE TRIED TO GET IT BACK IN GEAR AND DRIVE STRAIGHT HOME. YES IT WAS IN PARK AS INDICATED ON THE DASHBOARD. I HADN'T PUT THE PARKING BREAK ON AS I HAD JUST STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND WASN'T PLANNING ON STAYING PARKED. WE WERE IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH A VERY SLIGHT INCLINE. ALL TIMES (4 SO FAR) I HAD TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE BREAK TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ONCE MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CAR AND JUMPED OVER TO SAVE HER LIFE BY PUTTING HER FOOT ON THE BREAK AS IT WOULD'VE WENT OVER THE SIDE OF A HILL. OUR JEEP'S SHIFTER OCCASIONALLY REFUSES TO GO INTO "PARK" AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WILL NOT GO INTO PARK EVEN AFTER OPENING THE DRIVER DOOR WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO AUTOMATICALLY HAPPEN BASED ON THE FIX IN SAFETY RECALL S27/NHTSA 16V-240. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THERE IS A SHORT IN THE SHIFTER BUT THE REPAIR WOULDN'T BE COVERED BECAUSE THE SAFETY RECALL WAS ONLY FOR A "SOFTWARE" ISSUE NOT A "MECHANICAL" ISSUE WITH THE SHIFTER. EITHER WAY, IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT WE CAN NOT SAFELY PARK OUR VEHICLE AND WE ARE EXPERIENCING SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED IN THE MENTIONED SAFETY RECALL, BUT WASN'T.

I NOT ONLY DID I HAVE PROBLEM WITH THE SEAT BELT. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY DASH BOARD THE IS A RECALL AND THAT HAS BEEN SINCE 02/2020 AND IT STILL HASN'T BEEN REPLACE. NOT ONLY THAT I HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES ROTOR CALIPER ON ALL FOUR TIRES WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IT HAD 23,599 MILES AND WHEN I REPLACE THEM THE MILES 31,00 MILES. I WAS WORKING THEM BUT SOCIAL SECURITY TOLD ME I COULDN'T WORK AND GET BENIFITS. SO I HAD TO QUIT THE JOB. HOW I AM I SUPPOSE TO PAY $728.11 CAR PAYMENT AND INSURANCE. AND PAY FOR REPAIRS TO. SHIFTER GETS STUCK BETWEEN GEARS, SHIFTER LIGHT READING GEAR READS DIFFERENTLY THAN DASH PANEL GEAR, EX. SHIFTER IS PUT IN DRIVE (D) AND DASHBOARD READS NEUTRAL (N). THERE ARE DELAYS IN SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS AND BEEPING SOUND COMES ON. WHEN PUTTING VEHICLE INTO PARK AND IT WILL NOT READ IT, CREATING A STALL IN THE PROCESS, AND HAVING TO MOVE SHIFTER IN DIFFERENT GEARS BEFORE IT WILL START TO READ GEARS AGAIN. VEHICLE HAS THRUSTED FORWARD AFTER PUTTING INTO PARK WHILE A BEEPING NOISE IS GOING OFF. SHIFTER HAS NOT WANTED TO GO INTO PARK, OR REVERSE AND INSTEAD GOES INTO NEUTRAL. WHEN SHIFTER HAS BEEN PUT INTO PARK THE ENGINE HAS MADE AN ACCELERATION NOISE. SHIFTER HAS BEEN ERRATIC AND NON-CONSISTENT, CREATING FEARFUL AND UNSAFE OPERATING ISSUES.

I SENT IN COMPLAINT # 11374883 ON 11/16/20 BUT NEEDED TO ADD THAT MY AIRBAGS ARE NOT WORKING EITHER ALONG WITH THIS SEAT BELT THAT THE PENDULUM OR MOTOR HAS BROKEN. I UNDERSTAND THE AIRBAGS ARE TIED INTO IT THE P67 RECALL AS WELL. THEY ARE NOT WORKING EITHER AND MY WARNING SYSTEM IS NO LONGER TELLING ME MY AB OR SEAT BELT IS NOT WORKING OR ON. RECALL P67 WAS MY MODEL AND MAKE JEEP BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED FOR SOME REASON. I CALLED GM AS THE RECALL STATED AND THEY SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHY MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN,. THEY ADVISED ME TO REACH OUT TO YOU AND ASK YOU TO GET THIS ADDED TO THAT RECALL AS THE ISSUES MATCH AND ARE THE SAME FOR OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE I HAVE AND YEAR AND MODEL. PLEASE, MY SAFETY IS COMPROMISED AND I DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO GET THIS DEFECT FIXED. FRONT SEAT, MIDDLE CONSOLE CUP HOLDERS, TRIM, HAS BECOME DANGEROUS! THE HIGH POLISHED SILVER COLORED ACCENT TRIM HAS PULLED AWAY FROM THE CIRCULAR AREA OF THE CUP HOLDERS. THE MATERIAL IS A PLASTIC METAL THAT IS VERY SHARP AND HAS CUT UP MY FINGERS OVER 10 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. BECAUSE THE DESIGN ROLLS IN AND DOWN LIKE A BACKWARDS C THE PLASTIC METAL HAS FRAYED FROM USE AND DOESN'T LAY FLAT OR SEALED TO THE CUP HOLDERS. EACH TIME THE CUP HOLDERS ARE USE THE CUPS GET CAUGHT ON THE CUP HOLDERS AND ALSO CUT THE CUPS. I HOPE A COFFEE CUP DOESN'T BREAK ON ME OR A PASSENGER IN THIS SITUATION AND BURN THEM. AFTER DRIVING OVER A CURB IN A BUSY RETAIL STORE PARKING LOT, MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WENT INTO FULL ACCELERATION. I COULD NOT SLOW IT DOWN WITH BRAKING, AS THE BRAKE WAS TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE, ALTHOUGH I HAD FULL PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL. THE UPDATE IS UNSAFE! MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR WITH OUR TWIN 15 MONTH OLD BOYS. THE LACK IN RESPONSE OF THE TURBO MAKES IT UNSAFE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. OUR DEALERSHIP COMPLETED EPA AND CARB EMISSIONS RECALL V08 FOR 3.0L DIESEL EMISSIONS ON 20 MAY 2019. MILEAGE OUT WAS 63,819. 200 MILES LATER, WE STARTED THE VEHICLE AS NORMAL. LESS THAN A MILE LATER, AS WE STARTED TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND OUR VEHICLE'S INFORMATION CENTER DISPLAYED TWO SEPARATE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF) RELATED WARNINGS. THE FIRST SAYING DEF NEEDED SERVICE/CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP, WHILE THE SECOND WARNING SAID WE COULD NOT RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING ANOTHER 200 MILES. WE IMMEDIATELY FOUND A SAFE SPOT TO PULL OVER AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THE ACTING SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED US THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AS LONG AS THERE WERE NO OBVIOUS PERFORMANCE ISSUES. HE SAID IT WAS PROBABLY EMISSION RELATED, THAT WE WOULD BE OK IF WE DIDN'T DRIVE OVER 200 MILES. HE SAID GOING OVER 200 MILES MIGHT ABRUPTLY PUT THE VEHICLE INTO A "LIMP MODE"! WE WERE 150 MILES AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP BUT THE VEHICLE WAS OTHERWISE OPERATING NORMALLY, SO WE TOOK THE SERVICE MANAGER'S ADVICE AND DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. OUR JEEP IS AN OFF-ROAD, TRAIL-RATED, GO ANYWHERE VEHICLE DESIGNED TO BE USED OUT IN THE WILDERNESS/NATIONAL PARKS AS WELL AS ON THE HIGHWAY. IT IS AN UNACCEPTABLE SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO HAVE CONTROL OVER STARTING BECAUSE OF AN EMISSION VIOLATION/PROBLEM. ESPECIALLY WHEN IN A REMOTE LOCATION WHERE A RELIABLE VEHICLE IS PARAMOUNT TO SAFETY. MOREOVER, THERE IS SIGNIFICANT POTENTIAL FOR A SERIOUS CRASH IF THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY GOES INTO A "LIMP MODE" EITHER OUT ON THE HIGHWAY OR AT A STOP LIGHT. TO DATE, OUR DEALERSHIP HAS NOT FOUND A SOLUTION TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOR THE DEF WARNINGS. IT HAS CAUSED RUST TO FORM ON UNDER DASH COMPONENTS AND UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT. IT'S CAUSING ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS TO CORRODE AND TO ACT UP. ALSO THE CEL TO COME ON SAYING THAT ALL MODULES HAVE NO CONTACT WITH THE ECM/PCM. THE WATER LEAKS AS IT SITS OR EVEN WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.

JEEP REPLACED THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS A 2014, I PURCHASED AND RECEIVED IT IN MAY 2013. MY MILEAGE IS ABOUT 79,000. AT THE COST OF $3000.00 I HAD PURCHASED THE MOPAR LIFETIME MAXICARE WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD THIS COVERED EVERYTHING FOR THE VEHICLE AS LONG AS I OWNED IT EXCEPT FOR WEAR/TEAR ITEMS. THE RADIO/GPS SYSTEM WAS DEEMED DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED BY JEEP IN MARCH 2018. AFTERWARDS, WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN THERE IS A DASHBOARD INTERNAL RATTLE/HUM THAT TOTALLY RESTRICTS ANY HEARING WHILE DRIVING ABOVE 40-50 MPH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED THE CENTER CONSOLE SPEAKER AND STATED THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE EVENT. IT IS SO LOUD IT DROWNS OUT ALL NOISES INSIDE AND OUT SUCH AS SIRENS. I HAVE JUST RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE. I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE THE APPT ON 3/10 THEY SCHEDULED ME FOR 4/3/19. I TOLD THEM THAT THE GAS TANK AGAIN WILL NOT TAKE MORE THAN 3-4 GALS OF GAS WHICH LEAVES ME WITH LESS THAN A HALF OF TANK, AND THAT THE RATTLE IS GETTING WORSE.THEY ASSURED ME THEY WOULD EXAMINE ALL THE ISSUES, BUT EVEN THOUGH I PURCHASED THE LIFETIME MAXICARE, I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE RATTLE AND PROBABLY THE GAS TANK ISSUE (EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE GAS TANK ISSUE CAUSE BEING THEIR VENTING ISSUE OF THE TANK). RECENTLY I HEARD WATER SPLASHING UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT, WHICH RESULTED IN WATER COMING INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOODING THE CARPET. I WAS TOLD THAT THE BOX HOLDING THE BATTERY WAS WHERE THE WATER WAS LOCATED. THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON IT FOR TWO DAYS AND CAN NOT FIND WHERE THE WATER IS ENTERING. NOW THEY ARE PREPARING TO REMOVE THE TRIM FOR A POSSIBLE LOCATION. THEY CHECKED WITH MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY AND THEY SAID THIS WAS NOT COVERED. I AM AFRAID THIS ISSUE WILL CAUSE A FIRE IN THE VEHICLE SINCE THE WATER IS ENTERING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I WAS TOLD NO RECALL FROM CHRYSLER ADDRESSES THIS MAJOR ISSUE WITH JEEPS, EVEN THOUGH IS IS COMMON. I AM AFRAID TO LOOK AT MY BILL IF THEY EVER FIND THE LEAK. WE HAVE BEEN HAVING MAJOR RAIN HERE IN GEORGIA THIS YEAR AND IT IS NOT USED VERY MUCH, SO IT WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WHEN REVERSING, THE BACK-UP CAMERA IMAGE SCREEN HAS A LONG DELAY OF 5 SECONDS OR MORE. BACKING MANEUVER USUALLY NEAR COMPLETION WHEN IMAGE FINALLY APPEARS. WHILE PARKED WITH THE VEHICLE OFF, I WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVER SEAT WHEN I SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD BANG. I LOOKED ALL AROUND AND SAW THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT ON THE PASSENGER SEAT HAD EXPLODED. PLASTIC PIECES WENT FLYING OUT. THE SOUND WAS VERY LOUD AND STARTLING, AND THE INCIDENT OCCURED WITH NO PROVOCATION. THROUGH GOOGLE SEARCHES, MANY OTHER INCIDENCES OF THIS CAN BE SEEN HAPPENING. SOME PEOPLE HAVE THE HEAD RESTRAINT IMPACT THEIR HEAD WHILE DRIVING, WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED THEM TO WRECK. I AM TERRIFIED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WILL DO THE SAME THING, AND CAUSE ME TO WRECK DUE TO THE SHOCK OF BEING HIT IN THE HEAD. FURTHERMORE, THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 3.5 YEARS OLD AND UNDER 100,000 MILES. JEEP HAS STATED THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED AND THAT IT IS PART OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I ADAMENTLY DISSAGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT. THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINTS ARE HELD UNDER HIGH TENSION WITH A PIECE OF PLASTIC. WHEN THIS PIECE OF PLASTIC FATIGUES DUE TO THE STRESSES OF THE SPRING TENSION, THE HEADREST RELEASES. THIS IS A CLEAR DESIGN FLAW FROM THE FACTORY, AND IT NOT ONLY RESULTS IN LOSS OF FUNCTIONALITY, BUT COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH TO THE USERS OF THE VEHICLES. REPAIR COSTS ARE QUOTED AROUND $750.

THE STATIONS CAME UP BUT NOTHING WOULD COME OUT OF THE SPEAKERS WHEN I WOULD SELECT THE BUTTONS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME SINCE MY WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $600 TO GET A NEW RADIO IF I REALLY WANTED THE SATELLITE RADIO. THEY SAID THE ANTENNA FOR THE SATELLITE RADIO HAD BURNT OUT. MY CAR WAS BARELY 3 1/2 YEARS OLD AT THAT TIME. THE GLASS EXPLODED UP AND OUT, SO I AM FORTUNATE THAT I ONLY HAD A DUSTING OF GLASS THAT FELL AROUND ME. DEFINITELY, THE MOST FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WHILE DRIVING.

I HAVE FOLLOWED UP THIS TYPE OF ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MULTIPLE CASES WITH SIMILAR OR THE EXACT TYPE OF ISSUE. THIS POSES A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD, IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING, AND THE HEADREST DEPLOYED IN THIS MANNER IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

AFTER NUMEROUS DISCUSSIONS WITH VARIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE OVER A PERIOD OF TWO MONTHS, ON 9/28/2017 CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON PATRICIA SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE HOWEVER THAT A "JEEP SERVICE BULLETIN #08-028-17 WITH UPDATES TO SOFTWARE LEVEL 17.11.07 WILL OCCUR IN A PHASED ROLL-OUT AND MAYBE THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY." THEY TOLD ME I WOULD RECEIVE DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS BUT COULD NOT TELL ME WHEN THESE INSTRUCTIONS WOULD BE SENT OUT. THE SYSTEM WILL WORK PERIODICALLY BUT FAILS MORE OFTEN THAN NOT. YESTERDAY I WAS AGAIN USING THE NAVIGATION IN AN AREA THAT I UNFAMILIAR WITH AND THE SYSTEM AGAIN TRIED TO ROUTE ME INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC.

I PURCHASED MY USED 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FROM JT'S CHRYSLER & JEEP IN LEXINGTON, SC ON MAY 27TH, 2017. SOMETIME A FEW WEEKS LATER IN JUNE, WE STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH OUR RADIO AND TOUCH SCREEN PANEL. IT DID AN AUTOMATIC UPDATE BY ITSELF (SCREEN SAID TO KEEP VEHICLE RUNNING FOR 15 MINS TO COMPLETE) AND NOW IT WILL NOT SAVE ANY PRESETS THAT WE TRY AND SAVE TO IT. THE VOLUME TO THE RADIO WORKS FINE SOME DAYS, OTHER DAYS, WE CANNOT GET THE VOLUME TO WORK ON THE RADIO AT ALL...OR WORSE, SOMETIMES IT WILL LET US TURN THE VOLUME UP SOME AND THEN WE CANNOT GET IT TO TURN BACK DOWN (CAUSING ISSUES WHEN I NEED TO HEAR THINGS OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE) UNTIL WE POWER THE IGNITION DOWN. IT HAS AFFECTED THE NAVIGATION AND SPEAKERS TO SOME DEGREE ALREADY AND WE HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT WITH NO RESOLUTION. THEY HAVE TOLD US THEY TRIED A "FLASH UPDATE" BUT IT STILL HAS NOT HELPED. WE CONSTANTLY GET AN ERROR MESSAGE STATING "VEHICLE PHONE NEEDS SERVICE". I DID SOME RESEARCH AFTER OUR LAST SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND REALIZED THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE RADIO'S FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR JEEP FOR THE SAME ISSUES WE ARE HAVING BUT, I DO NOT SEE OUR VIN # LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT ON MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. THE DEALER'S SERVICE WRITER IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME THAT 85% OF THE TIME WHEN THE A/C GOES OUT IN THIS VEHICLE IT'S THE EVAPORATOR INSIDE THE CAR BEHIND THE DASH. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION BY THE REPAIR TECHNICIAN THAT'S WHAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED IF THEY REPLACE THE EVAPORATOR WITH THE SAME PART AND HE SAID NO, THEY NOW USE A DIFFERENT SKU REPLACEMENT EVAPORATOR. OBVIOUSLY, JEEP IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS MADE CHANGES TO FIX IT. HOWEVER, IN MY CASE JEEP WON'T PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT SAYING MY VEHICLE WITH 45,000 MILES IS PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD. IT'S MY POSITION THAT JEEP USED A DEFECTIVE EVAPORATOR IN THE FIRST PLACE AND IT'S ONLY MY BAD LUCK THAT IT DID NOT START LEAKING FREON SOONER. APPARENTLY THE EVAPORATOR IS NOT *THAT* EXPENSIVE BUT IT IS LOCATED IN A DIFFICULT LOCATION TO GET TO, BEHIND THE DASHBOARD, AND THAT MAKES IT AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR ($1,680). I BELIEVE JEEP/CHRYSLER SHOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AT A MINIMUM, AND FAILING THAT, A RECALL SHOULD BE PUT INTO EFFECT.

MY SUNROOF EXPLODED TODAY. I WAS DRIVING AT 50 MPH, EXTERNAL TEMP. IS 30 DEGREES AND SUNNY. THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND ME TO THROW A ROCK. THERE WAS NOTHING OVERHEAD. I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 137 IN MAINE, A WELL PAVED ROAD IN A FAIRLY RURAL AREA. I HAD THE SHADE CLOSED, AS I ALWAYS DO. I HEARD AND EXPLOSIVE NOISE DIRECTLY OVERHEAD. THERE WAS IMMEDIATE LOUD WIND NOISE ABOVE MY HEAD. I PULLED OVER AND OPENED THE SUNSHADE. THE SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED AND THE ENTIRE CENTRAL PORTION WAS GONE. ALL OF THE SHATTERED GLASS AROUND THE EDGES WAS CONVEX, BOWED OUTWARD AWAY FROM THE CAR.

THE STOP LIGHT WAS RED AND I FULLY STOPPED. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I STEPPED ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE TO MAKE A LEFT TURN INTO THE INTERSECTION WHEN MY VEHICLE MOVED MERE INCHES BEFORE IT COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN. THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN A MINUTE WITH NO WARNING. TWO TRUCKS ATTEMPTED TO JUMP MY JEEP, BUT ALL THAT HAPPENED WAS THE JUMPER CABLES STARTED TO SMOKE AND HEAT TO THE POINT THEY WERE UNTOUCHABLE. I HAD TO HAVE MY JEEP TOWED TO A NEAR BY CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHERE THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS A SIMILAR RECALL FOR 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES DEALING WITH THE ALTERNATOR, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT MY JEEP WAS MANUFACTURED WITH A 180AMP AND NOT THE 160AMP LISTED IN THE RECALL.

MY JEEP WAS SERVICED TWICE FOR THE RECENT SHIFTER PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER IDENTIFIES AS DRIVER INATTENTION OR CONFUSION. THE SOFTWARE PATCH THAT IS INTENDED TO "AUTO PARK" THE VEHICLE, HAS FAILED ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE ENGINE IS STARTED, I APPLY THE BRAKE AND PLACE THE SHIFTER INTO REVERSE OR A FORWARD GEAR. I THE DESIRED GEAR IS ILLUMINATED AND I EASE OF THE BRAKE, HOWEVER, WHEN APPLY GAS THE ENGINE SIMPLY RACES AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. JEEPS ATTEMPT TO FIX A PROBLEM HAS NOW LED TO ANOTHER PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE IS UNRELIABLE AND A DEATH MACHINE. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN IT'S OPERATION AND I CAN'T IN GOOD CONSCIENCE SELL THIS VEHICLE TO ANYONE. JEEP CORPORATE SHOULD BE IN JAIL.

DEALERSHIP HAS INDICATED TO ME THAT THEY HAVE FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT (JULY 6, 2016), FOR ME TO GO PICK IT UP. I DID NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER, AND I AWAIT A RESPONSE. ALL OF THIS OCCURRED AFTER THE S27 UPDATE WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION EVEN MORE SO THAN THE PROBLEMS THAT THEY TRIED TO FIX. MILEAGE 32333. MY JEEP KEPT ROLLING SLOWLY BACKWARDS TOWARDS ME. IT COLLIDED INTO A CAR PASSING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT. THE OTHER CAR HAD 3 CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS IN THE BACK SEAT. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT I WAS MORTIFIED AT THE LOOKS ON THOSE CHILDREN'S FACES, THEY WERE VERY SCARED! I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MANY YEARS & THIS WAS NOT DRIVER ERROR. MY HUSBAND AND I TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO RECREATE THE SCENARIO WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE WARNING ALARM SIGNAL WOULD COME ON IF THE CAR WERE NOT IN PARK AND YOU TRIED TO EXIT IT, SO I KNOW THAT IT HAD BEEN COMPLETELY IN PARK AND HAD "POPPED OUT" AFTER I EXITED. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AT VALENCIA, CALIFORNIA SUPERSTORES CHRYSLER JEEP AND TOLD THEM OF THE INCIDENT. THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THEY HAD IT FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM WITH IT POPPING OUT OF GEAR AND CHRYSLER CORPORATE SAID THEY HADN'T HAD COMPLAINTS. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND TO PICK IT UP. IT IS A DEFECTIVE DEATH TRAP AND I DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT AFTER THIS INCIDENT. IN RESEARCHING THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THIS HAD HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE I CAME ACROSS A BLOG FROM 10/31/13 WHERE THE SAME VEHICLE MODEL/YEAR HAD POPPED OUT OF PARK INTO REVERSE WHICH WAS ALSO REPORTED TO CHRYSLER, YET THEY CONTINUED TO SELL THESE CARS TO THE PUBLIC. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. THEY ARE UNSAFE AND LIVES ARE AT RISK WITH THEM ON THE ROADWAYS.

OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE GEAR SHIFT. IT HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN & SLIPS UNLESS THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I HAD NO WAY OF ENTERING THE CAR AS IT ROLLED TO PREVENT IT FROM HITTING ANOTHER CAR. IF I DID MOST PROBABLY I WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. WHEN I SHIFTED, I WAS ALWAYS IN THE WRONG GEAR. A FELLOW JEEP OWNER SUGGESTED, I SHIFT AS HARD AS I COULD INTO PARK AND THE SAME FOR DRIVE. IT WORKED MOST OF THE TIME. I HAVE OFTEN STARTED TO EXIT THE CAR ONLY TO FIND IT WAS IN REVERSE, NOT PARK AND I OFTEN PUT IT IN PARK WHEN I MEAN TO REVERSE AS WELL AS SPORT MODE WHEN I WANT DRIVE. LUCKILY, A SIGNAL DOES GO OFF AND I CAN PUT MY FOOT BACK ON THE BREAK AND SHIFT IT INTO PARK. I HAD NEVER EXITED THE CAR AND HAD IT ROLL, BUT IT MAKES SENSE THAT SOMEONE WOULD. IT IS A HORRIBLE DESIGN AND I AM HOPING FOR A RECALL THAT WOULD MAKE JEEP REPLACE THE GEAR SHIFTER. I HAD TO ENTER A DATE THAT IT HAPPENED BELOW, BUT IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. I CANNOT ACTUALLY REPORT AN ACCIDENT/INCIDENT, I SIMPLY WANT TO VALIDATE THE THEORY THAT THE DESIGN IS FLAWED AND DANGEROUS.

ADDITIONALLY, WE HAD ONE CASE OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION IN LOW SPEED (LESS THAN 10 MPH) STOP & GO COMMUTER TRAFFIC RESULTING IN A REAR END CRASH WITH DAMAGE TO OUR JEEP AND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US AND THE NEXT VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THEM (3 VEHICLES TOTAL). JEEP SLIPPED OUT OF PARK AND SLOWLY BACKED INTO A CONCRETE BUTTRESS AT A GAS STATION CAUSING $900 DAMAGE TO THE DRIVER DOOR AND FRONT QUARTER PANEL. 2. IN THAT SAME WEEK, SHIFTER SLIPPED OUT OF PARK WHILE DRIVER WAS BEHIND VEHICLE TAKING A PHOTOGRAPH. SERIOUS INJURY PREVENTED BY PASSENGER WHO PUSHED THE SHIFTER BACK INTO PARK. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 11/22/2013. DEALER INSPECTED AND HAD INSPECTION BY CHRYSLER FIELD REP. BOTH DENIED PROBLEM. SEE ATTACHMENT. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. I HAVE HUGE PROBLEMS WITH THE KEY-LESS IGNITION AND THE ENGINE NOT TURNING OFF IN TWO CIRCUMSTANCES. FIRST, THE ENGINE IS VERY QUITE AND THE RADIO DOES NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. IF YOU MISS THE SHUT OFF BUTTON THE CAR CONTINUES TO RUN EVEN WHEN YOU LEAVE WITH THE KEY. THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN YOU LEAVE THE STILL RUNNING CAR WITH THE KEY. YOU COME BACK HOURS LATER AND THE CAR IS STILL RUNNING. SECOND, THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER IS SO INACCURATE THAT IT IS VERY EASY TO TRY TO PUT IT IN PARK AND LEAVE IT JUST SHORT AND IN REVERSE. THE JEEP WON'T TURN OFF WHILE IT IS STILL IN GEAR, BUT IT IS SO QUIET THAT IT IS EASY TO MISS THAT IT IS STILL RUNNING (PARTICULARLY IF YOU DID NOT IMMEDIATELY GET OUT OF THE CAR). WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR STARTS TO ROLL. VERY DANGEROUS. JEEP'S RESPONSE IS TO PUT THE PARKING BRAKE ON, BUT WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE IF YOU ARE NOT ON A HILL.

ON JULY 25, 2015, WHEN WE WENT TO PICK IT UP, IT WOULD NOT START EVEN WITH A NEW BATTERY. ON JULY 27, 2015, WE WERE TOLD THAT ANOTHER NEW BATTERY HAD BEEN INSTALLED. ON JULY 28, 2015, WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE BUT ON AUGUST 14, 2015, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AGAIN FAILED AND IT WAS AGAIN TOWED TO THE SECOND DEALERSHIP. ON AUGUST 17, 2015, WE WERE ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED BY REPLACING VARIOUS ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2015, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AGAIN FAILED CAUSING THE ABS AND AWD SYSTEMS TO RAPIDLY CYCLE ON AND OFF; THE TRANSMISSION TO RAPIDLY SHIFT THROUGH BOTH FORWARD AND REVERSE GEARS; AND FOR THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD AND BACKWARD. A THIRD JEEP DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO SERVICE IT BECAUSE OF ITS HISTORY. ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2015, THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TOWED TO THE SECOND DEALERSHIP. IT HAD ONLY 5757 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2015, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP THOUGHT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE WITH A CRASH SENSOR AND PROPOSED THAT THE SENSOR BE DISABLED. ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2015, AFTER WE OBJECTED TO DISABLING A SAFETY SENSOR, WE WERE TOLD THAT SENSORS HAD BEEN ORDERED FOR THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE AND SPEED CONTROLS, BUT AS OF TODAY, THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AND IS UNCERTAIN WHETHER IT CAN REPAIR IT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT A DEALERSHIP 25 OUT OF THE PAST 72 DAYS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE; WILL NOT SAY THAT IT CAN BE REPAIRED; AND WILL NOT SAY THAT IT WILL BE SAFE TO OPERATE. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WHERE MY INSTRUMENT DISPLAY CLUSTER LIGHTS UP WITH NUMEROUS VEHICLE WARNING INDICATORS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER, 2013. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE DEALERSHIP KEPT MY VEHICLE RENTING A VEHICLE FOR MY USE UNTIL IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY "REPAIRED." THE ISSUE HAS CONTINUED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THAT RECALL FOR A TOTAL OF ABOUT 5 TIMES. THIS MOST RECENT INCIDENT THE FOLLOWING OCCURRED -- ABS WARNING LIGHT, AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT, MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WARNINGS LIGHTS WERE ALL DISPLAYED. ADDITIONALLY, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INOPERABLE, THE BRAKE ENGAGED LIGHT WAS ON (EVEN THOUGH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED) AND THE BACKUP WARNING SYSTEM DID NOT OPERATE. I HAVE HAD INSTANCES WHERE THE AIRBAG WARNING SYSTEM INDICATED THAT IT WAS NOT OPERATIONAL. I AM TOLD THAT IF THE WARNING LIGHTS DO NOT STAY ON THE SYSTEM "ERASES" THE FAULT CODES. THE SYSTEM SEEMS TO RESET ITSELF BUT I STILL DON'T THINK THIS SHOULD BE HAPPENING. THIS WEEK I WAS TOLD THAT THE BATTERY CHARGE WAS LOW AND THAT THE ISSUE HAD BEEN REPAIRED. MY QUESTION IS IF THIS ISSUE IS REPAIRED WHY DOES THE PROBLEM CONTINUE TO OCCUR. I AM HOPEFUL AFTER THIS TIME IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN BUT AM NOT SO SURE. I PAID $40K FOR THIS VEHICLE AND EXPECT THE SYSTEMS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2015, I ARRIVED AT A GAS STATION WITH ONE ADDITIONAL PASSENGER IN MY VEHICLE. WHEN WE FULLY STOPPED IN THE PARKING SPACE, THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS PLACED IN PARK. THE SCREEN DISPLAY WAS STILL DISPLAYING THE CURRENT SATELLITE STATION. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, BOTH MY PASSENGER AND MYSELF, THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT RUNNING, BUT I TOOK THE KEY FOB WITH ME. I THEN PROCEEDED TO WALK AROUND AND BEHIND THE VEHICLE TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR. THE GAS STATION WAS HAVING CONSTRUCTION WORK, AND IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WERE CONES AND THE AREA WAS BLOCKED OFF. APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS LATER, WHILE BOTH MY PASSENGER AND MYSELF WERE INSIDE OF THE GAS STATION, A WITNESS CAME RUNNING TO THE GAS STATION WINDOW TO ALERT THE ATTENDANT, THAT A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS JUST TAKEN OFF ACROSS THE PARKING LOT. AT THIS POINT, I DROPPED WHAT WAS IN MY HANDS, AND RAN TO LOOK. THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, 2014, HAD CRASHED ITSELF. ONE WOULD NOT THINK THIS IS EVEN A POSSIBILITY. PLEASE NOTE, THE KEYFOB WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK PRIOR TO EXITING, AND THE DOORS WERE LOCKED. IF SOMEONE HAD TRIED TO STOP THE CAR, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO. IT PROCEEDED TO TRAVEL, ON ITS OWN, BACKWARDS OVER 200 FEET AND CRASHED INTO A SPLIT RAIL FENCE, AND THEN LUCKILY IT CRASHED INTO THE ONLY TREE, BETWEEN THE SPACE IN WHICH IT WAS PROPERLY PARKED, AND AN INTERSECTION FOR A 55 MPH ROAD. THE POLICE WERE THEN CALLED TO THE SCENE, IN ORDER TO DOCUMENT THE INCIDENT, AND TO PROVIDE A POLICE REPORT FOR THE DAMAGE. NOW I AM LEFT WITH A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT COULD SERIOUSLY INURE A PERSON, ON ITS OWN, WITH ITS DOORS LOCKED, AND NO KEY FOB IN THE VEHICLE. IT IS ALSO DAMAGED, PARTS ARE BROKEN, AND IT ALSO HAS CAUSED PROPERTY DAMAGE.

AT 7100 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE AND REFILL OF DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID INDICATOR ON DASH DISPLAYED INCORRECT DEF FLUID AND SERVICE DEF NEEDED OR VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART IN 200 MILES. IT TOOK A WEEK AND 1 BUSINESS DAY BEFORE THE DEALERSHIP COULD EVEN LOOK AT THE VEHICLE DUE TO BACKUP IN SCHEDULING. AFTER THREE DAYS AT THE DEALERSHIP THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSIS WITH DPF CONVERTOR NEEDED REPLACEMENT, DEF SENSOR FAILURE, DEF INJECTOR FAILURE, AND O2 SENSOR FAILURE. AND THE PARTS WOULD TAKE 3 WEEKS JUST TO GET IN. TO ME THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 10000 MILES SHOULD NOT NEED THIS MANY REPAIRS WITH LONG DELAY JUST TO GET PARTS. IT SEEMS THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT PROPERLY ENGINEERED AND CANNOT MEET EMISSION STANDARDS LONG TERM. PLUS A VEHICLE THAT WILL TURN OFF AND NOT RESTART AT 200 MILES IS A DANGER TO A CONSUMER. JUST BASED ON AN INTERNET SEARCH I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THESE PROBLEMS THERE ARE NUMEROUS OWNERS OF 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH ECO DIESEL WITH THE SAME ISSUES. AND THE PROBLEMS ARE NEVER REALLY RESOLVED , PERMANENTLY FIXED AND OCCUR AGAIN. IN MY OPINION FCA SHOULD BE MADE TO BUY BACK THESE VEHICLE AND REDESIGNED TO AT LEAST MEET 80000 MILES EMISSION STANDARD WITH REALISTIC DURABILITY. THE CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT BE TEST SUBJECTS ON A UNRELIABLE VEHICLE UNTIL FCA COMES UP WITH FIXES TO VERY SERIOUS PROBLEMS. NO ONE WAS INTERESTED SO IT WAS PASSED TO MY HUSBAND AND WE PURCHASED A DIFFERENT VEHICLE FOR ME. HE HAS CONTINUOUSLY HAD THE SAME ISSUES AS WELL AS THE GEAR CHANGE ISSUES, AND PHONE SCREEN ISSUES... WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE PASSED ON TO A NEW/INEXPERIENCED DRIVER AS THE VEHICLE PRESENTS GRAVE SAFETY ISSUES. I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT IN A PARKING GARAGE BUT WAS FAVORING THE RIGHT SIDE. I BACKED UP APPROX. 6-8 FEET TO STRAIGHTEN THE CAR OUT. AS SOON AS I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, IT LURCHED FORWARD AT FULL THROTTLE, WITH MY FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE. I COULDN'T STOP IT. THE CAR ACCELERATED RAPIDLY AND SHOT FORWARD, OVER THE PARKING BARRIER AND RAMMED INTO THE CEMENT SUPPORT STRUCTURE OF THE DECK. THE IMPACT WAS JARRING AND THE CAR JERKED BACK UPON HITTING THE STRUCTURE. ALTHOUGH THE DISTANCE WAS ONLY ABOUT 6-8 FEET, THE IMPACT DID $3,300 DAMAGE TO THE CAR. I TOOK PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE ACCIDENT SITE AND THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR. THE PHOTOS SHOW THAT MY FRONT TIRES LAID DOWN SKID MARKS ON THE PAVEMENT AND UP AND OVER THE PARKING BARRIER AS I WAS TRYING TO STOP IT. A CLEAR INDICATION I WAS ON THE BRAKE. THE FORCE OF THE CAR PULLING AHEAD AGAINST THE BRAKES WAS VERY STRONG AND WAS ONLY STOPPED ONCE I SLAMMED IN THE PARKING GARAGE WALL. AFTER CONTACTING JEEP, I WAS REFERRED TO THE SPECIAL INVESTIGATION UNIT.I MET WITH A SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR AND HE EVALUATED MY VEHICLE AND SENT THE FINDINGS TO JEEP FOR FURTHER EVALUATION. THE INVESTIGATOR DECLINED TO VIEW MY PHOTOS OF THE ACCIDENT SCENE. A FEW WEEKS LATER I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE FINDINGS SHOWED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR AND THE CASE HAD BEEN CLOSED. I APPEALED BUT WAS ONCE AGAIN DENIED. OTHER OCCURRENCES OF A SIMILAR, BUT LESS DRAMATIC, NATURE OCCURRED WITH THE VEHICLE BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER THE ACCIDENT. I REPORTED SEVERAL OF THESE TO THE DEALER. FINALLY IN MAY I WAS TOLD I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY TRANSMISSION AND THEY REPROGRAMMED IT. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY OCCURRENCES SINCE. I AM CONVINCED MY CAR HAD/HAS A SERIOUS TRANSMISSION ISSUE THAT POSES A DANGER TO BOTH ME AND THOSE AROUND ME. I STARTED MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND STEPPED OUTSIDE TO ASSIST MY SON WHO WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. IT IS NOW BEING PUBLISHED THAT BOTH THE 2014 AND 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF ROLLING ON THEIR OWN--IT NOW EXPLAINS EVERYTHING--MY SUV DID IT. IT WAS NOT PARKED ON A SLOPE, HILL, OR ANY TYPE OF INCLINE--JUST A FLAT SURFACE.

I PULLED IN TO MY BROTHERS DRIVEWAY THERE WAS SNOW ON THE GROUND. PUT THE CAR IN PARK TURNED IT OFF AND EXITED THE CAR. IT STARTED ROLLING FORWARD SO I JUMPED BACK IN THE CAR AND PUT ON THE BRAKE THEN MOVED IT BACKWARDS A LITTLE AND EXITED THE CAR AGAIN. AGAIN CAR IN PARK AND SHUT OFF. I WALKED IN FRONT OF THE CAR AND FOUND MY BROTHER. ASI WAS WALKING BACK TO THE CAR, IT ROLLED FORWARD AGAIN ABOUT 8 FEET AND HIT MY NEPHEW'S CAR SENDING IT THROUGH THE GARAGE DOOR. THE NEXT DAY I HAS THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AS I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. RESULTS FROM THE DEALER WERE NOTHING WRONG. THEY TOLD THE THE CARE HAD WHAT'S CALLED AND OPEN DIFFERENTIAL AND IF THE ON WHEEL SKIDDED THE CAR WOULD ROLL FORWARD. I TOLD THEM I HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING SO ABSURD AND THEIR COMMENT WAS THAT I NEEDED TO READ THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND MAKE SURE I USE THE PARKING BRAKE. I TALKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP OWNER AND TOLD HIM ABOUT IT. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS EITHER. I ASKED THAT HE TALK WITH HIS SALES PEOPLE AND HAVE THEM TELL THEIR BUYERS ANPBOUT THIS. I THEN TALKED WITH A CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT AT CHRYSLER WHO TOLD ME SHE HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. AS A FOLLOW CHRYSLER SENT A SURVEY TO ME REGARDING THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE . I RECOUNTED THIS SITUATION AND HAVE HEARD NOTHING. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER JEEP AND IF I COULD CANCEL THE LEASE RIGHT NOW I WOULD DO SO. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAD BEEN STANDING IN FRONT OF MY CAR JUST BEFORE IT ROLLED FORWARD. IN ADDITION, MY CAR INSURANCE PREMIUM WAS INCREASED BY $50 PER MONTH BECAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT?????? WHEN I DID NOTHING TO CREATE THE PROBLEM. I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. WHEN STEPPING OUT OF MY CAR, IT STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS, THE DOOR WAS OPEN SO IT KNOCKED ME TO THE GROUND AND I ROLLED TO GET OUT OF THE PATH OF THE WHEEL, ONLY GETTING MISSED BY SECONDS. I HAD PRETTY SEVERE BRUISING BUT I DID NOT SEE A DOCTOR. I ASSUME THE CAR WENT INTO REVERSE AS IT ROLLED BACKWARDS, BUT IT WAS A SLIGHT INCLINE SO IT MAY HAVE BEEN NEUTRAL. I WAS MOSTLY FOCUSED ON THE FACT MY CAR WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS AT A GOOD RATE WITH MY 4 AND 1 YEAR OLD STILL INSIDE. THE CAR STOPPED AFTER JUMPING THE CURB AND TAKING OUT THE NEIGHBORS MAILBOX. I HONESTLY DIDN'T LOOK AT WHAT GEAR IT WAS IN ONCE STOPPED, I CHECKED ON MY CHILDREN AND QUICKLY MOVED IT OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, I OF COURSE WAS IN PANIC MODE. IT DID $6004.69 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO THE CAR, PLUS THE REPLACEMENT OF (2) CARSEATS AND A BRICK MAILBOX. I TOOK THE CAR IN A FEW MONTHS AGO FOR OTHER RECALLS AND LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THE SITUATION AND THEY SAID "NO PROBLEM FOUND" OF COURSE. AFTER SEEING A REPORT FROM YOU ALL TODAY ABOUT THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM IT PROMPTED ME TO FILE A COMPLAINT, AS I DIDN'T KNOW YOU EXISTED. I HAD THE KEYLESS BOB IN MY PURSE, WALKED UP TO THE CAR AND IT UNLOCKED. I OPENED THE REAR DOOR AND BUCKLED MY 3 YEAR OLD IN HER CARSEAT. I PLACED MY PURSE (WHICH CONTAINED THE FOB AND MY CELL PHONE) ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. I CLOSED THE REAR DOOR AND WENT AROUND TO THE DRIVERS SIDE AND ATTEMPTED TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. ALL THE DOORS WERE LOCKED. IT WAS 95 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND 110 DEGREES IN THE CAR. I HAD TO FIND A BYSTANDER TO CALL 911. IT TOOK EMERGENCY RESPONDERS OVER 20 MINUTES TO REMOVE HER FROM THE HOT CAR. MY CHILD ALMOST DIED BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY LOCKING SYSTEM. A KEY FOB SHOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO BE LOCKED INSIDE A VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED, AND THE CAR WILL LOCK ITSELF SHUT WITH THE FOB INSIDE. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE FOUND TWO OTHER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES THAT WILL REACT THE SAME WAY. I HAVE HAD MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUR TIMES FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD ALL FOUR TIMES THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE TWO VIDEOS OF MY TURN SIGNALS GETTING STUCK ON AND MY DASH FLASHING AND READING THE INCORRECT SPEED BUT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CONTINUES TO TELL ME THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE IT. WELL, TODAY THERE WAS ALMOST AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT. ON TWO OCCASIONS WITHIN SEVEN DAYS, MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECODIESEL (33,626 MILES CURRENTLY) STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY ONCE AT 45 MPH AND THEN AT 60 MPH. BOTH TIMES IT RESTARTED AFTER APPROX. 10-15 MINUTES. BOTH TIMES I TOOK IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER. FIRST TIME I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT IN AFTER THE RESTART AND THE SECOND TIME I HAD IT TOWED AFTER A HARROWING TIME PULLING OVER AND ALMOST BEING HIT BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. I WAS VERY SHAKEN AND THE STATE TROOPER TOLD ME TO TOW IT FOR MY OWN SAFETY. THE CAR WHEN IT STALLED DID SO WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING. AFTER THE CAR RESTARTED IT HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. BOTH DEALERS TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE ANY ISSUES AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TOLD THEM NOTHING AND I SHOULD PICK UP MY CAR. I PICKED IT UP THE FIRST TIME THINKING IT WAS A ONE OFF BUT THIS SECOND TIME IT HAS BEEN IN THE DEALER FOR ALMOST A MONTH AND I HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER. I AM AFRAID FOR MY SAFETY AND MY PASSENGERS SAFETY. THE DEALER REFUSES TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE FURTHER AND CHRYSLER HAS DONE NOTHING OTHER THAN PASSING ON THE SAME MESSAGE FROM THE DEALER TO PICK UP MY CAR. THE DEALER ACTUALLY SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT BACK! MY CHRYSLER CASE MANAGER OFFERED ME THREE FREE OIL CHANGES FOR MY INCONVENIENCE ! I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND SEE THAT THERE IS A RECALL AND OPEN CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR EARLIER MODELS RELATED TO DEFECTIVE TIPIN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THERE WAS A STRONG ODOR FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE PLACED TWO CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS IN THE VEHICLE AND THEY BOTH REGISTERED AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF 173 PARTS PER MILLION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR CARBON MONOXIDE EXPOSURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE RECTIFIED. ON ONE OCCASION, A TECHNICIAN DROVE THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED DUE TO THE WAY THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 11,000.

IN FEB. 2013 I PURCHASED A 2013 GRAND JEEP TRAIL HAWK EDITION, IN SPAN OF 3 TO 4 MONTHS THE JEEP WAS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT 6 TIMES TRYING TO FIX ISSUES. JEEP WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETELY FIX THE PROBLEMS TO MY SATISFACTION, I WAS GIVEN INCENTIVE TO TRADE IN FOR A 2014 GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED EDITION, WHICH WAS RUNNING GREAT UNTIL THIS PAST THURSDAY. ON THURSDAY I STARTED MY JEEP IT BARELY WOULD IDLE, I PROCEEDED TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE WHICH IS WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED JUMPING UP AND DOWN LIKE I WAS GOING OFF ROAD. IT WOULD SUDDENLY CHANGE TO NEUTRAL WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING, IT KEPT MISSING GEARS AND BARELY RUNNING. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET OFF THE EXIT. WHEN I GOT OFF THE EXIT IT WOULD BARELY IDLE AND AGAIN SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING. EVENTUALLY I SAFELY MADE IT OFF THE EXIT AND INTO A PARKING LOT WHERE I GOT IT TOWED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER COULD BARELY PULL IT UP ON THE TRAILER. WHEN IT WAS PLACED ON THE TRAILER IT WOULDN'T STAY IN PARK, IT KEPT TRYING TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME TYPE OF INVESTIGATION IN THE GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE MODELS AND HOW THEY ARE PASSING INSPECTIONS THROUGH PRODUCTION LINE BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY FOR A CONSUMER TO GET TWO DEFECTIVE VEHICLES IN 7 MONTHS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND UNBELIEVABLE.
