While driving my vehicle on the highway, the steering wheel locked up and it put itself into neutral. The abs system notification and another light was active and my jeep stated my vehicle was going too fast for the gear it was in. The abs breaking system bypassed the nss safety feature in my jeep causing me to go off the road as a I lost all control of the steering in my vehicle. Upon a check by the mechanic, I had faulty wiring in the wiring harness which they cannot replace because the part is no longer made. My jeep is only a 2015. I went off the road because there was poor weather - it was snowing out and my vehicle would not respond to any gear resulting in my turning the vehicle off. My jeep was towed to the dealership for diagnosis. I have not picked up my jeep yet due to the dealership schedule but have attached the communication with them concerning the problems.

The contact stated that when the vehicle came to a stop, the vehicle jerked abnormally. Additionally, while driving forward, the vehicle jerked abnormally. The contact stated that an unknown message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the gear shifter icons and gauge icons failed to activate and function as intended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact asked the dealer to complete the recall repair; however, the dealer refused. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The failure persisted, and the vehicle remained at the residence unrepaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

The electronic shifter goes out of gear showing a long line with no gear letter while I am driving. I have to hurry and put it in a gear. It has done that while driving at a fast speed and a low speed. It scared me when I was on the highway going between 70 and 85. At first I didn’t know what to do whether to apply brakes or shift back in gear. I couldn’t apply brakes because someone was right behind me so I grab the shifter and push the button and put back in drive. That happened to me about three or four times going to work on a busy highway.

I was crossing a road to get to the median and my Jeep stopped moving in the middle of a 4 lane highway, separated by a median that I never made it to due to it stopping moving during acceleration. It made noise when I pressed on the gas pedal but didn’t go anywhere. I was hit by a car that couldn’t avoid me, and my daughter and I were injured in the crash. My daughter had a fracture in her right leg & facial bruising. I had a laceration requiring stitches and facial bruising, lost consciousness at the scene and am severely concussed. Progressive deemed my Jeep a total loss.

My car has been having symptoms of a recall associated with other 2015 Jeep grand Cherokee - around electronic braking system , something with the brake booster. The brake light comes on. It has been for years. Mechanic couldn’t figure it out and finally mentioned it is likely from a recall. But the recall is not vin specific so I can’t get it fixed fully covered by my dealer. Can you please review and assign the recall to my vin? Thank you

My car keeps slipping into neutral, not able to go over forty three miles per hour. Will not go into park or drive at times. Electrical issues. This has happened several times two times on the freeway, with one of them and entering the freeway, almost causing an accident.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 MPH, the windshield wipers were unintentionally turned on, the infotainment screen darkened, and the vehicle lost automotive power; the vehicle failed to shift to park. The vehicle independently turned off and after several minutes independently started however, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. All of the warning lights were intermittently illuminated. The contact stated that she had to call the local Police Department to assist her with exiting the vehicle safely however, no police report was filed. The failure occurred on several different occasions. The contact stated that she sustained emotional distress due to the incident. The vehicle was taken back to the place of residence. The contact did research and was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V240000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. A dealer was not contacted and the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH the service shifter warning light was illuminated and had been illuminated for several months. The contact stated the vehicle shifted into gear without engaging the gear knob while driving and while parked. The contact also stated the vehicle was able to shift into gear without engaging the gear knob and without depressing the brakes. In addition, the contact stated the gear did not shift into the desired gear without wiggling and bumping the gear shift to release the gear stick. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V529000 (Power Train), however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

When raining the water will leak throug the sunroof or headliner not sure where it comes through but it comes from 2 places one hitting the arm rest / middle console which caused the terrain selection to go out and im worried it will cause the screen or something else to go out and catch on fire as I read it is common with these problems , when I purchased the vehicle as well they said it was just a frozen trunk gate spring but once I looked up the problem happening it is said to cause the gate to go out

I have had several incidents where the car was not responding properly such as fob key unlocking car, even with brand new battery, I’d have to unlock car manually but alarm would go off for 10min+ then randomly stop and car would allow me turn it on. Sunroof wouldn’t work properly and get stuck. One night ( about 8/12) car lights turn on and off and power gate lift opens randomly and battery catches fire which is extreme danger. Someone was able to put it out in time. This is a fairly new battery. Car has been in dealership for about 3 weeks now and I have been told that the body control module failed causing non stop current to the battery causing it to explode. I am now being charged $1600~ for repair/ parts.

I had a warning code of service electronic throttle. It then started to regenerate and we took it to Lithia Jeep to fix EGR recall. They needed to replace engine intake because it caught fire. Several months later the car broke down while driving, sputtering, knocking, squealing. Upon inspection, metal flakes found in oil. Suspected HPFP sucked into engine causing havoc. The HPFP is an open recall but no available replacement parts. I'm currently out of a vehicle. I've contacted Jeep but haven't heard a reply

USB 12V connector caught fire and melted the panel while car was off Yes it is available for inspection upon request If it would have happened while driving it would’ve put all passengers at risk It has not been confirmed by a dealer It hasn’t been inspected by mfg. insurance or police. There were no warning lamps, symptoms or msg. prior to the failure this happened 7/31/2023 I was unloading my groceries from the back when I came back out to get more bags, I noticed that the cabin was full of smoke. I’m trying to get an estimate to replace it so I can file a claim with my insurance company.

While driving vehicle shuts off unexpectedly, with steering wheel losing power steering. It will then have trouble starting again. Turning on and off by itself. It will then work just fine after 15-20 minutes.. It has been doing this every few months for a couple years now. I have taken to dealer a couple times, and they have had me change battery initially. But can’t give me a reason why it keep happening after that. Most recently, once I was able to work again after it had shit off on me while driving, it would then not shut off. I could not turn the car off. I took to dealer, and eventually it turned off. It is at dealer currently at time of this writing.

We were driving and we heard a chime and nothing showed on the display panel. Then we went thru the displays and saw a message regarding the ACC something about manual something. Then we lost power. Since we were on the highway We turned the truck off and started it again to potentially reset. We drove a couple blocks to exit the highway and lost power again. The we got out of the vehicle and smelled smoke. We peaked under the hood and saw fire. We all got out, grabbed our stuff and then the fire spread and engulfed the truck. Total loss.

Check engine light code P06DE occurred 04/2022. Oil pressure sensor removed And replaced. Check engine light code P06DE occurred 05/2022. Performed 2nd oil change in less than 1 month. Check engine light code P0440 occurred 10/2022. Evaporative System Integrity Monitor Switch replaced. Check engine light code P06DE occurred 03/2023. Oil pressure sensor removed And replaced (including R&I Lower intake Manifold). Check engine light code P06DE occurred 04/2023 Oil pressure sensor removed And replaced. Replaced oil pump and gaskets needed for reassembly of engine. Check engine light code P0523 occurred 05/2023. Replaced transfer case module. Check engine light code P0523 occurred 06/2023.

The computer/screen died disabling most of the essential controls/functions of the vehicle including: hands free calling, control of the temperature/air flow, park assist/safety options, security features. This issue also disabled the ability to control other functions such as the windshield wipers and drained the battery until it died. The battery had to be recharged and then after that any time I turned the car off I had to unplug the battery so that it wouldn’t be drained.

The instrument cluster stopped working and is completely blacked out. There was no warnings that it was going to happen. It just stopped working and no I do not need a new fuse. It's just a bad cluster

Cruise Control, O2 SENSOR, Fuel/Propulsion System , BATTERY, If your check engine light is not on when you take it to the service department they say its hard to detect serves needs. Come back when it comes on again. Trouble while driving when using cruise congtrol it excellerate15miles beyond speed set very scary while driving next 30 minutes smell smoke next flames and smoke coming from underneath hood, open door flames and smoke can into jeep. Causing me to hit my head tryng to watch the fire and get out the truck and getting the two kids out the back the we ran then the exploded. The 911 button inside did not work! Now we can't sleep!

My 2015 Grand Cherokee has a Service Shifter warning that has come on and causes the transmission to jump while driving. I've taken this problem to the dealership and was initially charged for a new shifter and wiring harness. Two weeks later the problem returned. I took the car back again and was told the system wasn't reset. Two weeks later problem returned. Took it back to dealership and was charged to reset two more codes. Two weeks later the problem returned. Took it back to the dealership and was told power steering pump had leak and was traveling to the area where the sensor was causing it to go off. Paid for more repairs and now 4 days later the service shifter light is back on and more frequently than before. This issue nor should any issue cause someone to continuously miss work to deal with a problem that has caused at least one fatality that's well known about. Nor should it cause an expense every time the vehicle is brought in. This is a problem that could cause serious harm if not addressed and if the problem cannot be addressed then at the very least someone should be willing to say so instead of grasping at straws trying to fix an unfixable problem.

While driving in cold weather, the battery save mode was displayed. The contact was unable to turn off the features and had to turn off the vehicle, open doors, and restart the vehicle. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to disengage the features. The local dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.

Without warning the vehicle will not start, and displays that the TPMS system needs service, and that a rear turn signal light is out. The engine will attempt to turn over but will not start the vehicle. This has happened multiple times under 90,000 miles. On more than one occasion, after about a day of not starting, the vehicle will start again, after no fix action was taken.

2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee drivers side heated seat burned a nickel size hole through the seat, burned a hole through my girlfriends sweatshirt and burned her skin. Thank god she was able to maintain her composure and pull over to a parking lot and get out. What if she had jerked the wheel (as it startled her) and caused a crash? What if she was on the highway?? What if the vehicle started on fire?? The vehicle is currently at the dealership and being inspected. There were no warning lamps or other symptoms.

Driving my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, in Oct 2021 and this weekend, slipped into neutral while driving on the highway at 50+ mph and wouldnt shift back into drive. displaying the message 'VEHICLE SPEED IS TOO HIGH TO SHIFT' while at full stop Stop sign Both times trying to restart it, the engine would rev violently and shut off, only to restart after a few minutes and drive as normal. Both times in high moving traffic, narrowly avoiding traffic. The 2nd time I was on the NY Triboro bridge and used road flares to alert traffic Called the dealer and they claimed to have never heard of this before. Couldnt find any issues or replicate the issue. attached are several issues of other drivers having the same issue and still @Jeepc laims no knowledge. Does someone have to die to fix this issue

Once the shifter was moved into "Drive" , the transmission would automatically swith it to "Park" that would not allow any movement! It happened on the same day to all three of us. Several hours later, the transmission seemed to work. Waiting for diagnostic service at Umansky Jeep in Charlottesville, VA. This shifter movement could potentially lead to an accident! We occasionally tow a trailer and risk to other motorists and us would be substanstial! Please initiate invastigation sincere there a multiple complainst related to transmission.

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. While traveling down the highway at approximately 65mph, the entire dash began to blink in and out, all kinds of error symbols flashed, I lost power steering and the car switched itself in to neutral – this resulted in an accident. This car has been In and out of the shop for the past several months. Every time it looks like it fixed, the car’s computer seems to do as it pleases. I lose driving power, it switches itself in neutral or the dash throws error symbols. I am at a point where paying for constant ‘repairs’ and insurance is becoming way too costly. I do NOT feel safe riding with my family in this car!!!

On April 23rd at 9:28pm I was driving my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 on a highway at approximately 45mph when suddenly the transmission slipped to neutral without any human interference. I tried shifting it back to drive but the transmission did not respond. The Jeep lost momentum very quickly and came to a complete stop in the highway. As soon as it went to a complete stop it locked itself in parking position and l lost all ability to put it back to drive. I turned my blinkers and emergency lights on, but one minute later I got rear-ended by a car traveling at 50mph. My Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 got totaled and I was taken to the hospital in stable condition. I was in a bad collision due to the Jeep slipping into neutral and locking itself in parking. I lost ALL ability to control my Jeep. The jeep got towed to a safe location. Two weeks later, we needed to move the car to another area for the insurance inspection. The car turned on and moved, yet again when the car gained velocity, the gear slipped to neutral and again came to a complete stop it, locking the transmission in the parking position. I always took my car for regular maintenance and it was a very well kept Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015.

NO INTERIOR LIGHTS OR ACCESSORIES FUNCTIONED. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AND AFTER DIAGNOSES, THE DEALER DISABLED THE FORWARD FACING CAMERA TO MAKE MY VEHICLE OPERABLE AGAIN, BUT WITHOUT FUNCTIONALITY OF AUTO HIGH BEAMS AND FORWARD COLLISION WARNING AND FORWARD COLLISION ACTIVE BRAKING FEATURES. THE FORWARD FACING CAMERA IMPACTS AUTO HIGH BEAMS, FORWARD COLLISION WARNING, AND FORWARD COLLISION ACTIVE BRAKING FUNCTIONS, AT MINIMUM. HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO OBTAIN A REPLACEMENT PART DUE TO EITHER BACKORDER OR THE DEALER NOT SUFFICIENTLY SEARCHING SUPPLY CHAIN DESPITE REPEATED INQUIRIES.

THE VEHICLE TAKES A LONG TIME TO TURN OVER TO PUSH TO START. SO YOU HAVE TO REDO IT AND TRY IT AGAIN. ALONG WITH US, THE TOUCHSCREEN TAKES A LONG TIME FOR FOR IT TO TURN ON. WHICH OBVIOUSLY THAT CONTROLS YOUR AC OR HEAT. I'VE GOTTEN A NEW BATTERY TWICE IN THE PAST FOUR MONTHS. I'M SCARED I'M GOING TO GO SOMEWHERE ONE DAY AND GET STRANDED. I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAVE A WARRANTY ON MY CAR AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT PUT A BATTERY IN IT EVERY TIME. I HAVE A FULL COVERAGE WARRANTY ON MY JEEP BUT I CANNOT GET THEM TO FIX ANYTHING AND THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME I'VE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WON'T FIX ANYTHING ELSE.

SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING, HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, 5 DAYS LATER THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT SO I TOOK IT HOME. A WEEK LATER, SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME BACK ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON, UNABLE TO CONTROL ANYTHING, LOST STEERING, THEN VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. TRIED TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON TO NO LUCK, SAT WAITING, THEN AFTER 15 MINS THE ACCESSORY ENGINE CAME ON, LIGHTS FLASHING, WINDSHIELD WIPERS GOING AND THE MESSAGE "DO NOT PARK UNTIL SAFE AT YOUR DESTINATION." TOOK THE JEEP STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP, DEALER PLUGS IT IS 70+ MISCOMMUNICATION ERRORS PULL UP. DEALER CALLS ME 3 DAYS LATER TO COME GET MY JEEP AND SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT AND THEY CANNOT DIAGNOSE IT UNLESS THEY SEE IT IN THE ACT. I REFUSE TO GO PICK IT UP AS THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG AND I AM NOT DRIVING IT WITH MY 9MONTH OLD.

I CONTINUE TO HAVE SERVICE SHIFTER AND CHECK ENGINE ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE, WHICH HAVE BEEN ONGOING FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHILE STATIONARY, IN MOTION BOTH ON CITY/NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS OR ON THE HIGHWAY. IT'S HAPPENED WHILE TURNING AND IN PARK. WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE AND SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHTS COME ONE, IN MANY CASES THE CAR GOES INTO LIMP MODE AND I LOSE THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, WHICH CAUSES A SEVERE SAFETY RISK IF IT OCCURS WHILE TURNING OR GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. MANY TIMES MY DASHBOARD WILL GO COMPLETELY BLACK FOR SECONDS AND MY WIND SHIELD WIPERS WILL TURN ON. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE RELATED TO THIS ISSUE FOR 180 DAYS OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING CONTROL MODULE, THE TCM, THE TELEMAX COMMUNICATION MODULE, THE TRANSMISSION, AND THE SHIFTER, BUT THE ISSUE ALWAYS COMES BACK. OVER THE LAST SIX MONTHS THE ISSUES HAVE GOTTEN WORSE AND THE VEHICLE IS GETTING MORE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. BASED ON MY RESEARCH THERE ARE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF THESE ISSUES AND FCA SHOULD TAKE ACTION.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

MY CAR GOES FROM DRIVE, TO PARK, TO NEUTRAL OR REVERSE WITH LITTLE TO NO TOUCH OF THE GEAR SHIFTER. SHIFTED TWO DRIVE TO MOVE OUT INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND WENT TO FULL THROTTLE FORWARD, ACROSS THE STREET, THROUGH THE SWALE INTO A VACANT LOT AND HIT THE AVISTA POWER TRANSFORMER BOX KNOCKING ITS OFF THE BASE AND PULLING THE 7,000 VOLT POWER CABLES OUT. JEEP THEN STOPPED AND I BACKED IT BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND STOPPED. AVISTA CREW ARRIVED AND SAFED THE TRANSFORMER. THE CAR THEN SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AND WOULD NOT START. CALLED AAA AND THEY SENT OUT THE BATTERY TRUCK. AAA BATTERY VOLTMETER CHECK REVEALED AN INITIAL READ OF 10.9 VOLTS; THEN WENT TO 0.9. JUMP START WOULD NOT TAKE. CAR COMPLETELY DEAD EXCEPT FOR POWER SEATS, WHICH CONTINUED TO WORK. HAD TO TOW VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP WHO ULTIMATELY DETERMINED THAT BODY CONTROL MODULE HAD MALFUNCTIONED. SIMILAR REPORTS AND A RECALL FOR THIS BODY CONTROL MODULE SAME MALFUNCTION DUE TO WIPER BLADES ON DRY GLASS IN 2011-2014 MODELS.

ONCE WE USED THE MANUAL PARK RELEASE AND GOT OUT OF THE INTERSECTION WE LET IT SIT FOR A LITTLE BIT. MY WIFE GOT IN THE DRIVER SEAT AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I HAD IT FULLY RECHARGED AND IN A MATTER OF MONTHS ALL OF THE FREON LEAKED INTO MY CAR! THIS IS POISONOUS GAS LEAKING INTO PEOPLES VEHICLES!! I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY QUOTED ME UPWARDS OF $1,700 TO FIX THE ISSUE, WHICH BASED ON OTHER ONLINE POSTINGS BY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OWNERS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE CAR. I HAVE ALSO RECENTLY UPDATED THE CAR'S UCONNECT SOFTWARE TO THE MOST RECENT VERSION RELEASED, AND NOW MY 911 PHONE OPTION AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM NO LONGER WORKS. MY UNDERSTAND IS THAT UCONNECT SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED TO USE 4G TECHNOLOGY, BUT MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS 2015 3G TECHNOLOGY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY FCA WOULD PUNISH THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS BY PUSHING THIS TYPE OF UPGRADE, IN THE PROCESS COMPLETELY MAKING THEIR CUSTOMERS NAVIGATION SYSTEMS USELESS. APPARENTLY THE PARTS ALONE ARE IN THE $1,000 + RANGE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE NAVIGATION UNIT. THE 911 PHONE OPTION SHOULD AT A MINIMUM BE A SAFETY REQUIREMENT, AND FCA PUSHING THEIR SOFTWARE UPGRADE COMPLETELY DISABLED THIS. I CALLED UCONNECT BUT THEY ARE OF NO HELP. SINCE THE LAST RECALL FOR THE JEEP ECO DEISEL THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN RUNNING THE DEISEL EXHAUST REGENERATION AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK (8 TIMES IN 7 WEEKS SINCE THE RECALL UPDATE WAS PERFORMED). I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN, THEY PERFORMED A MANUAL REGENERATION AND THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM, IT STARTED IT AGAIN A WEEK LATER. THIS MEANS I HAVE TO DRIVE MY CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR AT LEAST 10-15 MINUTES TO GET IT TO SHUT OFF (EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY REGENERATE THE FILTER) AND MY ENGINE IS OVERWORKING AND LAGGING. NOW IT'S A DIFFERENT MODULE THAT NEEDS TO REPLACED. TAKE IT HOME AND IT HAPPENS A THIRD TIME. THEY BASICALLY SAY THEY DON'T KNOW AND THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE TBE PROBLEM. DECEMBER: AGAIN DRIVING CAR POOL OF YOUNG TEENAGERS, EXITED BALTIMORE BELTWAY, WIPERS START, CHIMING, MESSAGES, 'SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE', 'AUTO PARK DISABLED', SERVICE SHIFTER, ETC. ENGINE REVVING BUT WE'RE BARELY MOVING. THERE WAS NOWHERE TO SAFELY PULLOVER AND I HAVE NO IDEA IF ANY OF THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS ARE WORKING. I HAD TO MAKE A LADY TURN TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. WE BARELY MADE IT. THIS LAST EPISODE WAS THE LAST STRAW. OUR DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT HELPFUL. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. IT HAS A PUSH BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH START. IT LOCKED UP AND IT COULD NOT BE TOWED BECAUSE THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER COULD NOT GET IT IN NATURAL TO MOVE IT. I WAS STRANDED FOR 12 HOURS WITH NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK BEFORE I GOT HELP. ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SHUT DOWN AND I WAS ALONE IN A VERY BAD AREA AT THE TIME. UNLESS THE VEHICLE STARTED IT WOULD DO NOTHING AND COULD NOT BE TOWED. JEEP NEEDS A RECALL ON THIS VERY UNSAFE SYSTEM. THEY SHOULD BE MADE PUT IN AN OVERRIDE SWITCH OR BE ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE WITH A KEY. I AM 76 YEARS OLD AND I WAS GOING TO START ON A 500 MILE TRIP THAT DAY. VERY GOOD THING IT HAPPEN WHEN IT DID. THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD ALONG THE ROAD WITH NO HELP. ALL PUSH BUTTON STARTS NEED A BACKUP TO GET OUT OF THIS SAFETY HAZARD. DEALERSHIP STATES THEY WOULD HAVE TO INSTALL A SCANNER AND TEST DRIVE IT HOWEVER THE GLITCH ISN'T REPRODUCIBLE BUT RATHER SPONTANEOUS AND INTERMITTENT. VEHICLE HAS 1000,000MILES ON IT.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON A 2-LANE ROAD, OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECODIESEL BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BEGAN GOING OFF SEEMINGLY RANDOMLY, AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE QUICKLY PULLED OVER AND PUT IN A SAFE CONDITION ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS THE ENGINE STALLED. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER 2 MONTHS OF TROUBLESHOOTING WITH CHRYSLER ENGINEERING, OUR SHOP BELIEVES THEY HAVE FOUND THE ISSUE, WHICH IS A FAULTY TONE WHEEL IN THE DRIVETRAIN, AT WHERE THE ENGINE COUPLES TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE TONE WHEEL LOST ABOUT 1/4" OF ENCODED MAGNETIC MATERIAL, AND THIS MADE THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE, EVEN WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS FAILURE THREW NO CODES TO THE COMPUTER FOR THE TECHNICIAN TO INTERPRET, AND THE ONLY SYMPTOM IS THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT FIRE, EVEN THOUGH, AS A DIESEL, THERE IS NO SPARK IGNITION SYSTEM.

THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE THE CAR WOULD SEIZE OR ACCELERATE INTO FIRST GEAR. IT HAS DONE THIS WHEN MY FOOT WASN'T ON THE GAS PEDDLE ASWELL. I CONTACTED SAFFORD JEEP IN SPRINGFIELD VA THREE TIMES ABOUT MY CONCERN. NOTHING WAS CORRECTED NOW I HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT WITH VERY BAD VEHICLE BODY DAMAGE. CHRYSLER HAS DONE NOTHING AND WILL NOT GIVE ME ANY ANSWERS ON THE SATUS OF THEIR INVESTAGATION. THIS HAS NOW COST ME OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THEY WANT TO DRAW THIS OUT AS LONG AS POSSIBLE.

A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED AND CAR TOWED TO NEAREST JEEP FACILITY THAT COULD REPAIR IT. RESULT OF PROBLEM WAS BAD ALTERNATOR. THIS IS RIDICULOUS ON A CAR THAT IS LESS THAN 2.5 YEARS OF AGE AND DRIVEN LESS THAN 3,6000 MILES.I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING OF PROBLEM UNTIL I WAS TRAVELING 150 MILES AWAY FROM HOME IN A MOUNTAINOUS AND SPARSELY TRAVELED ROAD. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE NECESSARY PARTS REQUIRED TO DO THE REPAIR WAS NOT MADE AVAILABLE TO ANY DEALERSHIP YET. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO WAIT ANOTHER MONTH OR TWO FOR THE SECOND RECALL NOTICE TO ARRIVE BY MAIL TO CALL AND MAKE THE APPOINTMENT. I ASKED IF, IN THE MEANTIME, I WAS TO HOPE AND PRAY THAT AN ACCIDENT IS NOT CAUSED BY THIS RECALL ITEM IN THE INTERIM, AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLIED , "YES." I THEN CALL THE FCA RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER AT FCA AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. UNACCEPTABLE PRACTICES GIVEN THE FACT THAT THE RECALL NOTICE CLEARLY STATES THAT, " ...THE SYSTEM DEFAULTS THE TRANSAXLE TO NEUTRAL AND THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCES A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER. ....THE LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER COULD CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING."

WE HAVE A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND RECENTLY HAD THE SOFTWARE PATCH INSTALLED THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM MOVING WHEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS OPEN. THIS WAS THE CONDITION THAT KILLED THE ACTOR RECENTLY. SINCE THE PATCH WAS INSTALLED THERE IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. WHEN ONE GETS IN THE VEHICLE AND YOU ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE HATCHBACK EITHER FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT OR FROM THE TAILGATE IT WON'T OPEN. IN ADDITION ONCE YOU START THE VEHICLE THE CENTER CONSOLE SCREEN IS COMPLETELY BLACK, AND THE FRONT SIDE WINDOWS WON'T WORK (THE REAR SEAT ONES DO) NOR WILL THE BUTTONS ON THE DOOR WORK THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO REPOSITION THE DRIVERS SEAT FOR DIFFERENT DRIVERS. YOU HAVE TO PLACE THE CAR IN GEAR AND MOVE IT BEFORE ALL THESE FEATURES START WORKING. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF THE SOFTWARE PATCH WAS PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING IF THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS OPEN AND IT IS IN GEAR. THEY GOT THAT HALF RIGHT. THE CAR WON'T MOVE FORWARD WITH THE DOOR OPEN, BUT IT GOES IN REVERSE JUST FINE. JUST EXACTLY THE SITUATION THAT KILLED THE ACTOR. WE TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH THE PATCH. THEY REINSTALLED THE SOFTWARE PATCH BUT NOTHING IS CHANGED AND REFLASHED THE BODY CONTROL MODULE, BUT THE PROBLEM REMAINS. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, OCCURRING SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK, BUT HAS NOT REPRODUCED ITSELF IN THE DEALERSHIP. AS AN ENGINEER IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT THE PROBLEM IS RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE PATCH THAT CHRYSLER RUSHED TO DISTRIBUTE AFTER THE NEGATIVE PUBLICITY ASSOCIATED WITH ACTOR WHO WAS KILLED. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO CHRYSLER IN ADDITION TO THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER INSISTS THE PROBLEM IS UNIQUE. I DON'T BELIEVE IT. I BELIEVE THE PATCH WAS RUSHED TO INSTALLATION AND DOORS THAT WON'T OPEN AND WINDOWS THAT WON'T GO UP OR DOWN ARE GOING TO END UP KILLING SOMEBODY.

FIRST INSTANCE, MY HUSBAND GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND WHEN THE DOOR CLOSED I GOT AN AUDIBLE WARNING AND THE "KEY FOB HAS LEFT THE VEHICLE" MESSAGE WITH A PICTURE OF THE FOB SHOWN IN THE EVIC. BEFORE SHOUTING TO BRING THE KEY BACK I CHECKED MY POCKET AND THE FOB WAS THERE. THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED WHEN HE RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE, BUT WE CONFIRMED THAT HE DEFINITELY DID NOT HAVE A KEY FOB ON HIM. SECOND INSTANCE, THE SAME THING HAPPENED A FEW MINUTES LATER WHEN WE DROPPED MY DAUGHTER OFF AT SCHOOL. AS SHE EXITED THE VEHICLE, THE "KEY FOB HAS LEFT THE VEHICLE" AND CHIME BEGAN. WE ASKED HER TO RETURN TO THE VEHICLE ALTHOUGH SHE DEFINITELY DID NOT HAVE A KEY FOB, BUT THE CHIME WOULD NOT GO OFF. I ENDED UP TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNING IT BACK ON AND THE MESSAGE AND CHIME DISAPPEARED. THE THIRD INSTANCE HAPPENED LATER IN THE MORNING WHEN MY HUSBAND LEFT THE CAR (AGAIN I WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVERS SEAT WITH THE FOB IN MY POCKET). TO SUMMARIZE, THE KEY HAS BEEN IN MY RIGHT JACKET POCKET ALL THREE TIMES AND YET THE VEHICLE BELIEVES IT HAS LEFT THE CAR. IN ALL THREE INSTANCES, THE SECOND FOB (WHICH IS THE ONLY OTHER FOB) WAS AT HOME IN MY KITCHEN.

WHILE DRIVING MY BRAND NEW 3DAY OLD 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I LOST ALL CONTROL OF MY BRAKES AND STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO COAST AND GET OFF OF THE ROAD. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALER WHO SENT A FLAT BED TOW TRUCK TO HAUL THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. ONCE AT THE DEALER I WAS EXTREMELY UPSET AND SHAKEN AND RECEIVED A CHILLY RECEPTION FROM THE SALES MANAGER AND DEALER DIRECTOR. MY CONCERN AND VEHICLE MALFUNCTION WAS DOWNPLAYED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY CONDESCENDING AND ACTED AS IF I HAD MADE UP THE ENTIRE SITUATION. THEY INSISTED THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF A PROBLEM LIKE THIS OCCURRING WITH A JEEP. NO QUESTIONED WERE ASKED...THE DEALER NEVER OFFERED TO PUT ME IN ANOTHER JEEP WHICH I FOUND ODD, AND INSTEAD I WAS TOLD I WAS OVER REACTING AND THEY REVERSED MY PAPER WORK. I PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE 11/8/2014. SINCE THEN HERE IS AN ONGOING, HIGH PITCHED NOISE UPON ACCELERATION FROM ZERO TO ANY CRUISING SPEED. ONE DEALER TRIED TO BLAME IT ON MY PLASTIC SUNGLASSES IN THE OVERHEAD STORAGE COMPARTMENT. ONE DEALER REPORTED TO ME THAT THE SAME NOISE WAS HEARD ON 2 BRAND NEW VEHICLES JUST DELIVERED TO THEM. I ALSO HAVE ONGOING ELECTRICAL ISSUES - STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS REVERSE SIDES LEFT TO RIGHT, RIGHT TO LEFT FOR AUDIO CONTROLS, THE RADIO RANDOMLY STARTS SWITCHING CHANNELS, AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM SENSORS TURNS ON TO ENABLE MODE, BUT IN THIS MODE THE HIGH BEAMS DO NOT DIM. THIS FUNCTION WORKED INITIALLY, THEN IT DIDN'T AND ONE DEALER SAID IT LOST IT'S PROGRAM SO THEY RESET IT. ANOTHER DEALER SAID THE SENSOR IS NOT WORKING. STARTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT PARKSENSE AND FORWARD COLLISION WARNING WERE NOT WORKING AND EVERY FEW MINUTES, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, WOULD BEEP AND OFTEN DISPLAY AN ERROR MESSAGE. THE MESSAGES IT DISPLAYED WERE, "SERVICE SHIFTER" (DISPLAYED MOST OFTEN), "PARK SENSE OFF" (IT WOULD AUTOMATICALLY TURN ON AND OFF) AND "ACC/FCW NOT WORKING SERVICE REQUIRED" (DISPLAYED A FEW TIMES). ALSO, THE SCREEN (INSTRUMENT PANEL) WOULD FLICKER A FEW TIMES AND BEEP.THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SENSOR DID NOT WORK, REGULAR CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WORK, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WORK AND PARKING SENSORS DID NOT WORK. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT APPEARS THAT THE ACC BALL (RADAR/CAMERA/THE THING THAT LOOKS LIKE THE EYE BALL ON THE FRONT BUMPER) HAD CORROSION AND ALL WIRES WERE SHOT. THEY ORDERED A NEW PIECE WITH HARNESS AND WILL REPLACE IT. HOWEVER, IT IS MY CONCERN THAT THIS IS A MAJOR ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE WATER CAN EASILY GET INTO THE HARNESS (RAIN/SNOW/CAR WASH). A WEEK PRIOR TO THE MAJOR ISSUE THE VEHICLE WAS SHOWING SIGNS OF MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING TO WORK AT 6:30AM THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND DOORS BLINKED ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP THAT DAY BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT RIGHT AWAY. FOUR DAYS AFTER THIS ALL STARTED I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE GOING ABOUT 40 MPH AND SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 10-15 MPH TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING LOT, I WENT TO GIVE THE CAR GAS TO COMPLETE MY TURN AND REALIZED THAT THE CAR HAD LOST POWER. I COASTED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND LOOKED DOWN AT THE EVIC SCREEN TO REALIZE THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL WITHOUT MY DOING AND WOULD NOT RESTART ITSELF.
