Needs rocker arms, valve lifters and camshafts replaced.
My engine oil is mixing into my coolant jug and radiator replaced the oil cooler housing and the issue still continues
While driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly lost power, displayed a low oil pressure warning, and became inoperable. The vehicle had to be towed. Dealer initially claimed “overfilled oil,” but an independent oil analysis (Blackstone Labs) confirmed excessive fuel dilution (5.5%), indicating contamination of the oil system. This vehicle is covered by NHTSA Recalls 22V-406 (FCA Z46) and 23V-263 (FCA 01A) related to premature failure of the Bosch CP4 high-pressure fuel pump. Recall documents state: “A HPFP failure may introduce internally failed component debris into the fuel system potentially causing fuel starvation. Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause a vehicle to crash without prior warning.” The vehicle’s failure aligns with this description. Dealer has not yet performed an HPFP inspection despite recall requirements. Request: NHTSA investigate whether fuel dilution and catastrophic failure are linked to the CP4 HPFP defect covered by these recalls.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had gone to the dealer three times for the recall repair before experiencing a failure with the vehicle; however, the part was not available for the recall repair. While awaiting the repair, while the contact's wife was driving approximately 60 MPH, there was a clanking sound coming from the engine compartment. The sound progressively grew louder. There was no warning light illuminated. On the fourth visit to the dealer, the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure, and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that parts were on backorder and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.

The Traction control light comes on while driving, once that happens it changes the performance of the vehicle it stays in one and it doesn’t allow you to do more then 43 at the most.
Lifters are ticking. Yet another 3.6L Pentastar engine with the same issue, and no recall issued. Someone is going to die from this defect, if there haven't already been fatalities related to this problem.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion into the engine, and that the left cylinder head and the A/C condenser needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic made the contact aware of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.

Cylinder 2 misfire
I was crossing a road to get to the median and my Jeep stopped moving in the middle of a 4 lane highway, separated by a median that I never made it to due to it stopping moving during acceleration. It made noise when I pressed on the gas pedal but didn’t go anywhere. I was hit by a car that couldn’t avoid me, and my daughter and I were injured in the crash. My daughter had a fracture in her right leg & facial bruising. I had a laceration requiring stitches and facial bruising, lost consciousness at the scene and am severely concussed. Progressive deemed my Jeep a total loss.
Car keeps jumping to nutral and then dies in the middle of the highway. Have to wiat like 5mins before trying to start. Once it starts ill drive for like 15mins then I happens again. No codes nor e gine light to see what the issue is. I'm lost at the mo and need the vehicle for jobs. Help!!!!!
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The engine overheated due a coolant leak causing head gasket failure. The engine will now most likely need to be replaced. The engine is 3.0 ecodeiesel which was part of the FCA settlement . There were no warning signs. Engine overheated with dealership while getting the fuel tank pump replaced. Dealer confirmed issue.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body, fuel sensors bank 1-1 and 1-2, crankshaft, and intake manifold needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 124,471.

I have owned this vehicle for 9 years and the vehicle has had an issue with the electronic fuel pump since I bought it. I would take pictures of the warning showing the error message. I have had the vehicle in the shop more than 10 times for the same symptoms and begged them to replace what the computer is saying was the problem. I have spent over $9,000 on repairs and I continue to get the same message, The check engine light is on continuously and every time I bring it in they say it is not that it is something else and they replace something not related. Then the recall came out for the High Pressure Fuel Pump which was apparently the issue for the entire time like the on board computer had been stating was the issue. I have replaced the Thermostat when there was no over heating issue, the alternator when there was no electrical issue, the Particulate filter because they said that was what was causing it to go into crawl mode which it still does periodically when it rains out. The recall was issued on 6/9/2022 and it is still not repaired. There is no telling what other internal damage was done over the 9 years of not replacing what was the issue the entire time.
My 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland EcoDiesel (VIN# [XXX] ) had a catastrophic engine failure at 96k miles (400 miles from home) on a family trip Friday [XXX] leaving us stranded far from home for the second time in the last year (first time was for a turbo coolant line that failed requiring me to leave my car in California for 3+ weeks while parts were on back order). I still have an active AEM Warranty from the emissions recalls a few years back that's good until 120k miles, however previous inquiries have stated that this warranty doesn't cover the engine failure and was given a repair estimate in excess of $30k+. Premature engine failures have been a very common problem of this series of vehicle, it was involved in the AEM class-action lawsuit, and had numerous recalls that are related to the engine and engine components. Myself and the Lithia Jeep Dealership staff in Grants Pass, OR were all shocked when the warranty claim was denied for this replacement given the number of EcoDiesel failures they had seen. With the systemic premature failures of these engines, the AEM class-action lawsuit updates, extent of recalls that are related to the engine and engine components, I have been disappointed in how Chrysler/Jeep have handled this situation, leaving the burden of their design flaws on their customers. WHEN STOPPING AND SUDDENLY ACCELRATING JEEP HAS A POWER DELAY AND YOU HAVE TO HIT THE THROTTLE AGRESSIVELY TO GET GOING OR ELSE I RUN THE RISK OF GETTING HIT BY ANOTHER CAR, BUT ONCE YOU HIT THROTTLE THE POWER IS MORE THAN YOU NEED IT OR EXPECTED IT, FORCING ME TO BRAKE OR ELSE I HIT THE PCAR INFRONT OF ME. I AM STILL NOT ABLE TO MAKE THIS WORK. I PURCHASED THE CAR USED, I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS AND I BARELY USE IT BECAUSE I FIND IT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AT TIME. THE POWER DOESNT COME WHEN I NEED IT BUT WHEN I DO ITS TOO MUCH, FEELS LIKE I FLOORED IT AND I HAVE MANAGED NOT TO CRASH BUT ITS SOMETHING SOMEONE SHOULD TAKE A LOOK AT BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.
The contact's daughter owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact notified the dealer and the manufacturer about the failure and was informed that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

While driving on the freeway, I heard a quiet noise but saw no warning messages on the dash. I decided to pull over and found the vehicle had shifted into neutral and lost power steering. The vehicle was towed to a AAA service center. They discovered that the safety recall W79 / NHTSA 20V-699 Diesel ECR cooler had been replaced but failed again, requiring a complete engine replacement. The recall was repaired in May 2022, and the part failed in July 2024, two months outside the warranty. The dealer where we bought the vehicle and had the recall serviced won't return my calls.
- The Diesel Engine failed or malfunctioned. New/current engine is available for inspection but no longer have dead engine. Was removed by Jeep dealership. - I Was driving with my kids and as I was about to park in the lot, thick black smoke started coming from the hood of my jeep. My kids started screaming and I immediately turned off the vehicle and got my kids out, because I wasn't sure if it was going to blow up or what would happen. Called USAA to tow vehicle to dealership. - Problem was confirmed by the dealer - I have never got my vehicle serviced by anyone else besides the dealer/manufacture (DCH Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat of Temecula) - the vehicle and component was inspected by the manufacture (DCH Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat) - There was absolutely NO WARNING, NO LIGHTS OR SIGNES THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN prior to the failure. (CHECK ALL RECORDS AT DEALERSHIP) ALL SERVICE COMPLAINTS ARE DOCUMENTED at (DCH Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat of Temecula).
Jeep dealership is unable to remedy this recall that has been an issue for over 2 years. My jeep was at dealership for month and still no repair parts they have no ETA on specific parts needed for recall as they don’t get notified about the part for my vin number. I am stuck with an unsafe jeep due to unable to be fixed. Need a remedy to fix this I am losing out on money not having a safe vehicle for me and my family to drive in
The engine kicks like the injectors are blocked or something. It happens in idle and all speeds, including highway speeds. It is not speed related. However, I am reporting this because it jerks the car at highway speeds and this is dangerous. I have one occurring trouble light regarding the oil pump but it’s not related. Something is troubling this engine like there is debris in the fuel line but all of my recalls have been fulfilled.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle independently decelerated and failed to exceed 45 MPH. The contact stated that the traction control and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle, then the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with an unknown failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the failure had recurred several times. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V411000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Purchased a 2015 jeep grand Cherokee. At around 65k miles vehicle started making a ticking sound. Vehicle was also stalling when accelerating from a stop, usually when making a right turn but also when trying to press gas to gain speed quickly like when entering the highway. There is a known issue with this model where the rocker arm fails and damages the cam shaft. Engine light went on so contacted the dealer and Brought the car in for a recall repair. I drove out of the dealership and the engine light went back on. Brought the jeep back and was told engine issue wasn’t covered under warranty and repairs would cost $5k. I’m contacting the DMV automotive facilities inspector to file a complaint on the dealership and will be contacting a lawyer regarding a class action lawsuit unless I get a resolution to this issue. I drive my 3 small children around every day in this car.
tone ring issue not resolved
Th cylinder has low compression causing misfire in the vehicle. The misfire can cause the vehicle to lose power. If you lose power on a highway it could cause an accident. This has not happened to me, but I have read the cyinder issue is a common problem with the 2015 jeep grand cherokee Seems like bad parts. A mechanic has ascertained the problem with my vehicle. If this is a common problem why has the manufacturer not fixed the problem and inspected these parts?
Driving on highway 290 West near Waller. At 75mph I attempted to pass slower traffic by accelerating after moving into the farthest left (passing) lane when my Jeep lost power. Had to maneuver while coasting between traffic in lanes (frogger anyone?) to farthest right lane by coasting through to an exit by chance. Would not restart while coasting. Traffic line formed behind me for those also seeking same exit I needed at the last second. I was unable to fully move into shoulder because of debris seen and fear of damage to tires. After coasting to a full stop a quarter mile from Love's Truckstop, put vehicle in park, and was able to restart after hesitation. Engine light on with my reader stating "confirmed" codes P0336, U1401; and a "pending" code of P05ED. Now takes 3-5 seconds to start when used to be "instantly." In a nutshell, this was not fun. :| Note to manufacturer , please stop skimping out on quality.

I have been trying to get this recall fixed for over two years not. I have received over four notices from FCA via US Mail. Each time I go to the dealer, Planet Jeep, in Flagstaff, AZ I am told that there are no parts available and they cannot do anything. The first three times I was told that I would be put on waiting list however when I checked last week they said there is no record of me even commig in for it. I tried to call FCA directly on the phone number listed to call for help with the recall. The FCA rep said all I need to do is go into the dealer to get it fixed. I explained to her the issue and she put me on hold and called dealer directly. The dealer at Planet Jeep stated same thing, there are no parts available and I would be put on a list. I asked FCA if I could escalate this and she said there is no recourse for recall issues. I want to sell my Jeep however no one will purchase when I disclose the missing recall which is the high pressure fuels system and very serious as there have been issues of vehicles stalling on the freeway speeds and causing accidents. I think two years and several attempts to fix this is unreasonable. I am requesting your assistance.
The rocker arm is defected causing ticking noise and Known by manufacturer that it is due to fail but still built car with faulty part. Cost thousands to fix

After an oil change, my jeep starting ticking. I've read of several recalls. My jeep is having all 10 of the recall issues.
While returning home from vacation, the high pressure fuel pump on my vehicle failed. This happened while in heavy traffic traveling 70mph on I-95. This incident left myself, my husband, and my four month old infant at the time stranded on the I-95 shoulder in 90 degree heat for three hours. My husband was barely able to maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder after all power was lost and the car was billowing smoke. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. The dealer inspected and replaced the high pressure fuel pump and other fuel system components four months later but failed to inspect other engine components for damage related to the high pressure fuel pump failing. Because of the lack of thorough inspection, when the service person at the dealer started the engine again, the engine completely failed. The dealer and Jeep are refusing to honor the recall and repair my engine due to a recalled item failing. Prior to the high pressure fuel pump imploding and ripping shrapnel through the entire fuel system and engine, a yellow check engine light came on. While trying to find a safe place to pull over while traveling 70mph in heavy traffic on I-95, diesel began pouring out of the bottom of the vehicle, smoke started billowing out of the engine, a handful of warning lights flashed across the screen, and all power was lost to the car. This happened in less than approximately 5mins/10miles from the yellow check engine light initially appearing. Prior to this incident, there were no sounds or warning signs that there was something internally wrong with the engine.

One of the recalls for this vehicle, 22V-406 has been open for 17 months with no fix available from the manufacturer. This is an unacceptable time to wait for a fix to a problem that could result in a vehicle crash. The NHTSA needs to hold the manufacturer accountable for this unacceptable risk to public safety.

The oil cooler located on top of the engine intake failed and began leaking oil. The part of the oil cooler that failed was made out of plastic. The top of the engine gets very hot which likely caused the plastic to become brittle and fail. Oil began leaking all over the motor and onto the exhaust pipes. I could smell burning oil and worried it could cause a fire once I realized what was happening. The repair shop said that they fix so many of these and they are not even a dealer, nor could they understand how a recall has not been issued on this item. The component was not inspected by anyone other than the mechanics at the repair shop. The replacement was an aftermarket made out of aluminum and not plastic like the oil cooler that failed. There were no warning lamps indicating there was a problem. When I saw the oil under my vehicle and the smell of burnt oil on the exhaust pipes I brought the vehicle to the repair shop.
The driver's side cylinder head failed and engine oil began leaking down the engine and onto the exhaust pipes. The cylinder head was kept by the dealership and is not available for inspection. My safety was put at risk of a vehicle fire from the fresh oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold and piping. I could smell the burning oil and saw it dipping under my vehicle. The dealer did not say that this was a systemic problem, but it is well documented on the internet that this is a common problem from this model (2015) Jeep Grand Cherokee. The component was not inspected by anyone other than the dealership that determined it had to be replaced. The engine light came on letting me know there was an issue with the engine. I brought the vehicle to the dealership within a few days.
The oil filter housing assembly cracked. I noticed oil leaking yet my oil light would never come on . I took it to be looked at and they had to replace the housing component. I was told that this has been a common problem with vehicles and for me to keep all receipts . If I didn’t pay close attention to my vehicle I could have ruined the engine with the amount of oil that I was loosing. Especially since no warning light was being displayed.
FCA has had an open recall (Z46/NHTSA 22V-406) for over 14 months. They are unable to provide necessary parts and as such potentially unsafe vehicles must be driven by owner and these vehicles are unable to be traded/sold due to open safety recall. FCS Recall Assistance and Chrysler Group Customer Care for Jeep have been contacted with no resolution and no anticipated date for resolution.
Loud ticking noise from engine that speeds up upon acceleration. Failing rocker arm causing debris leading to ticking noise. No error codes. Upon personal investigation online, have found "Pentastar Tick" to be a known problem in 2013-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees on Jeep forums. Problem can lead to misfire while driving, including jerking, damage to cam shaft, as well as engine damage.
Valve lifter failure at 93,000 miles. $2,700 repair. Is apparently a very common problem with the 3.6l Pentastar engine. Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision warning system front sensor failed at 56,000 miles, failed again at 76,000 miles and failed a third time at 95,000 miles. First two failures were replaced under warranty, third failure happened 1 week after warranty expiration from second replacement. Cost is too expensive to repair ($3,000 for new sensor) and requires that safety feature be turned off as sensor will perceive increases in road elevation (hills) as another vehicle and apply the brakes
Car accelerated without warning propelling me across a curb, street, then a second curb. The SUV was stopped upon impact at a concrete building. Fortunately there was no injury to others but the accident caused the car to be totalled by my insurance company. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The airbags did not deploy upon impact,
Vehicle has 143,345 and engine started ticking from valvetrain on drivers side. It is a known issue with the 3.6 liter V6. Will probably have to pay out of pocket to have rockers, lifters and camshafts replaced.
While driving vehicle shuts off unexpectedly, with steering wheel losing power steering. It will then have trouble starting again. Turning on and off by itself. It will then work just fine after 15-20 minutes.. It has been doing this every few months for a couple years now. I have taken to dealer a couple times, and they have had me change battery initially. But can’t give me a reason why it keep happening after that. Most recently, once I was able to work again after it had shit off on me while driving, it would then not shut off. I could not turn the car off. I took to dealer, and eventually it turned off. It is at dealer currently at time of this writing.
We were driving and we heard a chime and nothing showed on the display panel. Then we went thru the displays and saw a message regarding the ACC something about manual something. Then we lost power. Since we were on the highway We turned the truck off and started it again to potentially reset. We drove a couple blocks to exit the highway and lost power again. The we got out of the vehicle and smelled smoke. We peaked under the hood and saw fire. We all got out, grabbed our stuff and then the fire spread and engulfed the truck. Total loss.

05/2023 loud ticking noise coming from top right side of engine. Replaced transfer case module. Ticking sound continued. Check engine light code P0523 occurred 06/2023. Known issue with Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L: rocker arms and right intake camshaft failure
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Additionally, the contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
3.6L Pentastar engine is defective. In October 2020 (55,000 miles), there was a ticking noise coming from engine and reduced engine power. Fields Jeep Dodge Ram Chrysler replaced right intake camshaft and 6 lifters, rockers, and related gaskets. In April 2021, I noticed same ticking noise; brought back to dealership; dealership found "nothing wrong." In March 2022 (70,000 miles) I heard same ticking noise; brought to dealership; insisted something was wrong. SURPRISE! This time, ALL (12) ENGINE lifters/rockers/gaskets & camshafts replaced. Now, May 2023 (80,000 miles) there is, again, ticking in engine/loss of power; this time there is a noticeable bucking and surging when the engine is cold. There were no warning lights or messages on the dashboard to indicate impending engine failure. Symptoms I experienced were loss of engine power, ticking, and bucking/surging. I WISH someone from NHSTA would come and inspect the car. Safety issues can arise if the engine fails while being driven - increased risk of stalling, loss of motive power, obviously collision, any number of things. On two separate occasions, Jeep dealership identified and "fixed" the issue with the same faulty parts that caused the problem in the first place. Other than the dealership, no one else has inspected the vehicle. This issue is ongoing and will continue to occur as a result of an inherently faulty engine design, for which the only remedy is to fix it with the same defective parts.

The oil cooler is leaking and shooting oil around the engine compartment making a lot of smoke. Not sure if there was fire or not. I went to the 2 repair shops and both said that they are inundated with the same problem from jeep owners and the parts are very expensive and hard to get. I was told not to drive the car because it could cause a fire, and I cannot afford the repair. The Chrysler corporation should take responsibility. This is a major safety issue, and now I am stuck with a vehicle that is too dangerous to drive.
On April 24, 2023, while driving 53 mph down a busy highway the car just lost all power. I wasn’t able to control the vehicle then I stepped on the brakes but only if the back brakes worked. Which caused the vehicle to spin out of control until I eventually flipped the vehicle upside down into a ditch. It was one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced. Besides the fact my drivers side head rest and seat bell we’re also broken at the time. I was going to the dealership on April 26th to have both the headrest and seat belt fixed. It’s also the second time the car lost power. In addition to that my headlights, rear lights, & windshield wipers, would suddenly stop working then work again. I totaled my Jeep and I’m now out of a vehicle since I had a active loan of the vehicle. I was suppose to be done with my payments in Aug of 2025. I don’t ever want anyone to experience what I went thru. I’m very very grateful and fortunate that I wasn’t seriously injured or killed because of this problem.
Transmission suddenly stopped accelerating when pressing pedal. In reverse suddenly began making a whirring sound. 155,000 miles
The vehicle has a significant safety recall out with no timely identified repair offered. Jun 09,2022 Manufacturer Recall NumberZ46 NHTSA Recall Number22V-406 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available How can the manufacturer expect people to feel safe driving with the possibility of a unplanned sudden stop putting their lives, their passengers lives and the lives of other travelers on the road at risk. If Jeep can't fix the issue they should replace the vehicles.
We have been unable to drive the vehicle for 9 months out of 12 due to it being in the shop. The latest was a OBDC of "Improper DEF used see dealership". It was at 3 different shops to remedy the issue the final one being Lithia Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge of Missoula #134. Even with the extended warranty they WOULD NOT cover the expense even though it was their warranty. We were told it was for labor, but labor was supposed to be covered. There is also a "Stop Sale" in place so we cannot even drive the vehicle anymore due to lack of power. The dealership and FCA told us that this was "NORMAL" and we just "HAD TO LET THE VEHICLE WARM UP FIRST" I have owned and operated diesel vehicles for a better part of 28 years. I have NEVER had to do this. I cannot put my families lives at risk with this POS. Right now as it is, we are. making payments on insurance and and vehicle payments on an SUV we cannot drive. I can give specific dates, times and conversations as well as email threads from FCA trying to handle the situation to no avail.
While in motion, vehicle lost all power; the engine stalled, brakes failed and lost power steering. The vehicle shifted into neutral. I put the vehicle back in drive and it went back to neutral. I turned the ignition off and restarted. My husband was driving and I was in the passenger seat, with my 5 year old daughter in the backseat. If there had been oncoming traffic, we’d have hit them head on.

Definitely it could affect me, my family and you when it stop any moment in the road, i did check dealer and mechanics shop abut the issue and mention it happen with other engine with same part number and i cannot afford paying a whole engine. -Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes -Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No -Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No
THERE IS A RECALL FOR FUEL PUMP DELIVERY. MYVWIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT COMPLETELY STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ARAPAHOE CHRYSLER AUTONATION JEEP, PARTS SUPPOSEDLY ARE ON BACK ORDER HOWEVER WE HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT THEY DON'T HAVE PARTS.
Vehicle only has 38,000 miles and suddenly had visible oil leaking from underneath. No warning lights came on but I took to service center for inspection. The oil filter housing was found to be defective and "leaking badly". Technician informed me that because the component is plastic vs. metal it is a known defect in my vehicle make/model. I also confirmed many complaints of same issue in online forums. I contacted manufacturer but since vehicle is out of warranty they would not assist. Service provider stated the issue is of significant safety risk as engine could lose all oil, overheat, and become undriveable. Cost to repair=$1800
The oil filter housing in the Jeep Gladiator, Wrangler, and Grand Cherokee is known to have serious problems and safety concerns. The Pentastar oil filter housing used in these vehicles can crack and warp due to heat exposure and this can lead to serious oil leaks. Despite knowing about this issue, the company has never issued a recall, instead, they have discontinued the production of the Pentastar and redesigned the oil filter housing for newer vehicle models. https://vehiclefreak.com/jeep-oil-filter-housing-recall-guide-2013-to-2017/?fbclid=IwAR372r_Z1vlEwSsMz6HmMA6_Vn1IEqL3SnyNYNGCuCVbH25-F7cUtjkhzpU
At a speed of 30mph, was slowing down coming up to a red light, as the brakes were being pressed the motor began to rev up and try to accelerate despite me fully pressing the brakes. I had to put the vehicle in neutral and shut it down. I merely missed hitting another vehicle. I called the dealer who had no information for me. No warning lights were on or prior to the reving and acceleration of the vehicle as I was trying to come to a stop at a red light. I am reading numerous forums of Jeep owners reporting the same issue. This really should be investigated before someone is seriously injured or killed, which maybe there have been reports of such already. In my case, there was no injury or damage because I was lucky enough to have no vehicle beside me and had a place to vere off to to pull over quickly. If that hadn’t been the case, an accident would have occurred. I can’t say if this vehicle has malfunctioned like this previously because I purchased 2 days ago.
Noticed a wet substance under the hood and a smell of oil/antifreeze (couldn’t determine either or) coming from vents prior to purchase. I was told it would be looked at and taken care of. After purchase I noticed a heavy leak under the vehicle and when i touched it, I again smelled the same oil/antifreeze. I took it back to the dealership and they replaced the radiator. It continued to produce a leak, and chose to stop and get a diagnosis and they said it was the oil cooler. I then chose to return it to the dealership for repair and they insist it was left over spillings from the previous repair. It still has that same wet substance dripping from under the vehicle. I’m concerned about the safety of my life if it is indeed the oil cooler.
The contact's son owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle owner took the vehicle to the local dealer for maintenance and was informed that the oil filter housing had an oil leak and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

While driving down the road my car will shift into Neutral while going at at full speed driving down the freeway, and loses all power. I have to pull over on the side of the road turn the car off and restart. This has happened 6 times and is very dangerous. There are multiple dates that this has happened. It looks as though this should fall under NHTSA recall #16V529000?
car engine has a sound of tapping. I research on YouTube ,it is rocker arms ticking when rocker arms broken. many complains about this problem of jeep v6 3.6 engines. it can cause engine brake down.
Plastic Oil Cooler leaking. This is a $800 repair, and seems to be a very common problem among Jeep Grand Cherokees.
Oil leak from oil filter cooler housing it has been recalled on 2014 jeeps but not the 2015 and it is the same issue
The oil cooler fails resulting in the entire cooling system being filled with the oil from the engine and possibly contaminating the engine oil with coolant. Even after the oil cooler is replaced the entire cooling system must be thoroughly flushed and have multiple parts replaced. It is a safety hazard because there is no warning, the oil cooler fails and all you engine oil is gone. Which will lead to catastrophic engine failure and possibly fire from the heat produced from the friction.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while the vehicle was in park (P), she started the vehicle and the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact attempted to turn the vehicle off, and the vehicle would not shift into neutral (N). The contact stated that multiple attempts were needed to turn the vehicle off and restart the vehicle. The vehicle then started operating as designed. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
Mileage: 98,000
The contact's son owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while her son was driving 60-65 MPH, the vehicle started shuddering. The ABS, traction control, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle decelerated to 30 MPH and stalled while driving on an uphill ramp. The vehicle failed to restart, causing another vehicle to strike the driver's side of the vehicle. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was pushed downhill with the assistance of a police patrol. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine was blown and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed that the thermostat, radiator, starter, and motor mounts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.

There is loud ticking/tapping noise coming from the engine when in motion or when the engine idles. This vehicle was not inspected by the dealer (out of warranty) or the police but was inspected by my mechanic and is available for inspection anytime, upon request. At time, the noise become extremely loud and scary and is a cause for great concern, especially knowing that this vehicle is mostly driven daily on the highway for at least 1 hour one way. This noise suddenly appeared about 9 year ago as a slight ticking/tapping but got progressively worse.
The vehicle has an oil leak problem which may be caused by the defect of cylinder head gasket, and some of other engine gaskets. The oil seal is problematic for this model.
Hello I’ve seen some oil leakage all over engine of car. Mechanic stated the oil filter housing has to be replaced but not covered under jeep warranty. car is driving ok for now .I’m at 79,000 miles. I’m concerned that this may become a bigger issue especially fire hazard when driving car.I’ve see similar issue on 2 other jeeps grand cherokees. I have not seen it come up as a recall but have seen multiple complaints.I feel that this is a mechanical issue and should be covered by Jeep.
The hydraulic lifter is failing causing the cam shaft to fail and need to be replaced. This is making a ticking noise and will only get worse. Chrysler knows this issue exists in the 3.6L pentastar V6 engines but will not recall and fix it.
While driving on the highway, the car suddenly started to generate a weird noise from the engine, and at the same time I was losing power, this was at 65mph. Now, the vehicle cannot go above 35mph without pushing down on the gas pedal. The RPM needle also doesn't move much. May be a Crankshaft Position Sensor issue as with the 3.0L engines.
The oil cooler/ oil filter housing cracked. My 2015 Jeep only has 49,000 miles on it. This is a huge safety problem. The oil leaked all over the transmission case and the exhaust. It was smoking really bad, this is a fire hazard!!! I found out that there has been many complaints on this issue and should be recalled for safety. The dealership told me to have it towed in because you can not drive it because it can catch on fire. Not good, someone can really get hurt!!! Recall this product.
Driving my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, in Oct 2021 and this weekend, slipped into neutral while driving on the highway at 50+ mph and wouldnt shift back into drive. displaying the message 'VEHICLE SPEED IS TOO HIGH TO SHIFT' while at full stop Stop sign Both times trying to restart it, the engine would rev violently and shut off, only to restart after a few minutes and drive as normal. Both times in high moving traffic, narrowly avoiding traffic. The 2nd time I was on the NY Triboro bridge and used road flares to alert traffic Called the dealer and they claimed to have never heard of this before. Couldnt find any issues or replicate the issue. attached are several issues of other drivers having the same issue and still @Jeepc laims no knowledge. Does someone have to die to fix this issue
Bad Lifters and rockers on left camshaft caused loud engine tick/knock. Occurred at 62000 miles. An apparent KNOWN common Jeep FCA problem for 2015 JGC WK. Hard/ rough transmission downshift from 3rd-2nd gear along with loud bang noise. Downshift is so violent it causes your foot to slip off the brake pedal when braking. Occurred at 67000 miles. Another known common problem for 2015 JGC WK. This is a dangerous vehicle and should be recalled for these issues before someone is seriously injured or an accident results in death.
Once the shifter was moved into "Drive" , the transmission would automatically swith it to "Park" that would not allow any movement! It happened on the same day to all three of us. Several hours later, the transmission seemed to work. Waiting for diagnostic service at Umansky Jeep in Charlottesville, VA. This shifter movement could potentially lead to an accident! We occasionally tow a trailer and risk to other motorists and us would be substanstial! Please initiate invastigation sincere there a multiple complainst related to transmission.
I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. While traveling down the highway at approximately 65mph, the entire dash began to blink in and out, all kinds of error symbols flashed, I lost power steering and the car switched itself in to neutral – this resulted in an accident. This car has been In and out of the shop for the past several months. Every time it looks like it fixed, the car’s computer seems to do as it pleases. I lose driving power, it switches itself in neutral or the dash throws error symbols. I am at a point where paying for constant ‘repairs’ and insurance is becoming way too costly. I do NOT feel safe riding with my family in this car!!!
The part that failed is identified as the Oil Cooler, I will request the dealer provide the defective unit. The part number for the Oil Cooler 68211323AB. There are two areas that would pose a safety concern when the Oil Cooler fails. When the Oil Cooler fails, oil is let into the cooling system. The oil level continues to fall to a point where it is very likely the engine will seize. There is no check engine indicator, the oil temperature indicator shows no rise in temperature. You would not know that there is any problem, If that happens while the vehicle is in motion it could prove to put occupants in jeopardy of injury. The second area of concern, as the oil bleeds into the cooling system it is unable to adjust for the additional fluid. The cooling system reservoir fills up and begins to overflow each time the vehicle is started and driven. The reservoir overflow is in the front right side of the engine compartment. When car is parked the oil flows on to everything that is below it. But when the car is in motion the oil covers the right side of the engine compartment. The result of the overflow could lead to a fire in the engine compartment, Oil on the rotor and brake could result in the malfunction of the brake mechanism. With oil in the cooling system the smell of diesel is very strong in the passage compartment. This may, lead to headaches, nausea, and eye irritation. The dealer did confirm the problem and provided a quote of $8600 to repair. The car has been inspected by and independent mechanic and the dealer’s mechanic. As noted earlier there was no warning that a problem was occurring. The first sign of a problem was on the 17th of September. A large oil spill in my garage.
The oil cooler failed with no warning, no check engine indication. All indicators returned normal readings. Without a warning you continue to drive while your oil levels are falling. All of your oil goes into your cooling system. The chances are very high that you will have your engine seize. At a minimum the failure causes major repair issues, if it can be repaired at all. One of the more troubling out come of the failure, the oil will eventually over flow the coolant reservoir into the engine compartment. The oil is everywhere in the engine compartment. This alone would present a number of safety issues. My car is currently at the dealer, I was quoted $8,600 to repair and replace all affected parts. My research has turn up a number of jeep, chrsyler and ram truck owners are or have experienced this failure.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while getting a routine oil change shortly after, the warning light for a throttle box illuminated. The contact stated that in the past after getting the same oil change, the warning light for the tire pressure sensor light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who determined no failure indicated for the tires. The contact stated that every time they brought the vehicle in for inspection no failure was indicated despite the contact filling the tires with air. The contact stated that while driving on the freeway when they were attempting to drive the speed limit of 65 mph their vehicle could not accelerate beyond being between 45-50 mph. The contact was able to pull off the ramp where the vehicle eventually came to a seize. The vehicle began to smoke on the front end. The vehicle never turned into a full-blown fire however it did remain extremely overheated for a total of about 2 days. There were no injuries or medical attention needed. There was no police report. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed that the head gasket had blown and the engine had melted. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that she heard a loud vibrating noise coming from the engine compartment while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed with needing the camshaft arms and gaskets replaced however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. Consumer was informed by the mechanic 3.6 liter engine in this vehicle is experiencing a common problem in this make /model.

2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 3.6 pentastar. Bought the vehicle 10-2020 and had issue with running hot due to faulty electric radiator cooling fan and thermostat and housing failure. Repaired the thermostat and hosing at local Jeep dealership. 2 weeks later, radiator cooling fan froze and ceased operation, replaced by independent repair shop. Within a couple the oil cooler and filter housing adapter developed a crack causing a catastrophic oil leak.

THIS 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECODIESEL HAS AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE EGR SYSTEM (RECALL W79). ON DECEMBER 29, 2020, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED THE DEALER (TURNERSVILLE JEEP) FOR AN APPOINTMENT ON MONDAY, JANUARY 4, 2021. THE FIRST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT WAS ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 12 2021. THIS DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE UNTIL FRIDAY, JANUARY 15. THIS DEALER DECLINED TO REPAIR THE EGR SYSTEM UNDER THE W79 RECALL, BUT DID REPLACE ALL FUEL INJECTORS AND THE FUEL TUBES AFTER FINDING THE FUEL INJECTORS RESTRICTED. THIS DEALER THEN CLEARED THE DTC P026C-00 AND PERFORMED A STATIONARY REGENERATION. I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AT 5:15 PM ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 15, 2021 AND PROCEEDED TO ROAD TEST THE VEHICLE. AFTER ABOUT 75 MILES OF DRIVING, I SUFFERED A EXTEME AND SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AT APPROXIMATELY 7:30 PM; THE DASH INDICATORS INCLUDED THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP, AN ERROR REGARDING THE THROTTLE BODY, AND AN ERROR THAT THE OIL PRESSURE WAS LOW. AS I COASTED TO A STOP, SMOKE BEGAN TO RAPIDLY POUR FROM THE HOOD COVER AND BEGAN TO ENTER THE CABIN THROUGH THE HVAC VENTS. I VACATED THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AND UNDER SOME DURESS. THE SMOKE CONTINUED TO BILLOW FROM THE ENGINE AREA OF THE VEHICLE AND I COULD SEE IT CONTINUE TO ENTER THE CABIN. AT APPROXIMATELY 9:00 PM ON JANUARY 15, THE VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED BY FLATBED TO PELLEGRINO JEEP. I SPOKE WITH THE PELLEGRINO JEEP SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 16, 2021, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A COMMITMENT TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE. I OPENED CASE #78239258 WITH FCA (JEEP) US LLC CUSTOMER SERVICE. AS OF JANUARY 20 AT 11:30 AM, I DO NOT HAVE FEEDBACK ON THIS CASE. THE DEALER HAS ALSO PROVIDED NO COMMITMENT TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE SUFFERED A FAILURE DUE TO THE INABILITY OF FCA AND IT'S DEALERS TO REMEDIATE RECALL W79.

I WAS TRAVELING AT A 60MPH SPEED ON A HIGHWAY WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY OIL TEMP LIGHT CAME ON AND READ 285 DEGREES IN MY OPTIONS LIST YET THE STATIONARY OIL TEMP READ IN THE MIDDLE. I PULLED OVER, LET THE ENGINE COOL, CHECKED THE OIL AND COOLANT (ALL FINE). AFTER 45 MINUTES, IT COOLED TO ABOUT 130 DEGREES, SO I CONTINUED ON. I DROVE ABOUT A MILE WHEN IT HEATED BACK UP AGAIN, THE JEEP JERKED, SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT OF THE ENGINE, AND IT TURNED OFF. I LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO TURN INTO A PARKING LOT BEFORE IT DIED. SINCE I WAS OUT OF STATE TRAVELING AND IT WAS LATE IN THE EVENING, I NEEDED TO FIND A PLACE TO STAY IF MY JEEP WOULD START (IT DID). I FOUND A HOTEL 3 MILES AWAY FROM MY LOCATION. THE ENGINE HAD COOLED, I HAD OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW NO DAMAGE. I DROVE 35MPH FOR THE 3 MILES AS I WATCHED THE OIL TEMP CLIMB. I MADE IT TO THE HOTEL, WAS PARKING WHEN THE CABIN FILLED WITH SMOKE. I OPENED THE WINDOWS, SHUT OFF THE JEEP AND GOT OUT. I DID SEE FLAMES COME OUT OF THE HOOD AND SOMETHING ON FIRE FELL FROM UNDER THE ENGINE AREA. I CALLED 911. SOMETHING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ACTUALLY PUT THE FIRE OUT BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. THEY STILL PROCEEDED TO DOUSE THE ENGINE AND DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. I THEN FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL (W79) ON THE 2015 ECODIESEL JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES FOR THE (ERG) EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION COOLERS THAT ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO THERMAL FATIGUE. THIS CAN CAUSE THE COOLER TO CRACK, ALLOW PREHEATED, VAPORIZED COOLANT TO INTERACT WITH OTHER HYDROCARBONS AND AIR IN THE SYSTEM THAT MAY LEAD TO A VEHICLE FIRE. THIS RECALL WAS NOT SCHEDULED TO OFFICIALLY BE RELEASED UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2020. 20 DAYS AFTER MY JEEP FIRE.

I HAVE A DIESEL ENGINE WHICH HAS A VERY OBVIOUS LAG IN GETTING POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS GETTING WORSE AND AFFECTS MY ABILITY TO ENTER IN TO TRAFFIC SAFELY.EVEN IF I HAVE ALLOWED FOR SAFE DISTANCE TO MERGE INTO A LANE I NEVER KNOW IF MY CAR WILL SPEED UP QUICKLY ENOUGH SO AS TO NOT GET HIT

I AM HAVING CONSTANT VALVE TAPPING IN MY ENGINE. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF ITS COLD OR WARM, IT TAPS CONTINUOUSLY. I HAVE 114,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE, BUT HAVE KEPT UP ON ALL VEHICLE MAINTENANCE INCLUDING THE REQUIRED SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGES. I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL BRAKES ON MY JEEP, SO IT'S NOT DRIVEN HARD. I JUST DON'T THINK THERE SHOULD BE TAPPING WITH A VEHICLE WITH THIS AMOUNT OF MILEAGE.
RECEIVED A RECALL 1 MONTH GO BUT THE DEALER CANNOT REPAIR-NO PARTS!! RECALL W58 "A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING" NOW I AM FRIGHTENED TO DRIVE TO WORK BUT NO WAY TO GET IT REPAIRED???
THE FIREWALL INSIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT HAS HEAT DAMAGE FROM EXCESSIVE HEAT COMING FROM ENGINE AREA NEAR TURBO. IT APPEARS THERE MAY HAVE BEEN FIRE. POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ME TO DIAGNOSE AND ENGINE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I CALLED FCA CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT DEALER CHARGE NEVER THOUGHT IT IS WARRANTY ITEM.*DT THE CONSUMER PROVIDED PHOTOS. *TR

I GOT A SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS PURGE VALVE ON THE EVAPORATOR SYSTEM. I ENCOUNTER THE SAME PROBLEM ON MY 2014 DODGE DURANGO AT THE SAME MILEAGE. I THINK CHRYSLER HAS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH THIS PART OF THEIR EMISSION SYSTEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, WITH HER CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE STOPPED COMMUNICATING WITH THE ENGINE AND NO RPM. AS THIS OCCURED I BEGAN TO LOSE CONTROL AND NEARLY CRASHED INTO TRAFFIC. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST INCIDENT AS THIS HAS OCCURED SEVERAAL TIMES EACH RESULTING IN NEAR FATAL COLLISIONS. SINCE THE RECALL A YEAR AGO (SPRING 2019) THE VEHICLE HAS A SERIOUS HESITATION IN THE THROTTLE RESPONSE UNTIL THE ECODIESEL ENGINE REACHES FULL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. THIS CREATES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. THE FUEL MILEAGE HAS DROPPED A MINIMUM OF 4 MPG. I RECEIVED A SECOND NOTICE (12/10) REGARDING AN "APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION DISCLOSURE 3.0L DIESEL" THE LOCAL DEALER WAS UNAWARE AND STATED IT WAS THE PREVIOUS RECALL. I CALLED "FCA" (JEEP) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS THE PRECURSER TO ANOTHER RECALL. THE ONLY IDENTIFYING NUMBERS I HAVE ARE "FC106038" AND "****AUTO**ALL FOR AADC 030 7/1/2" MARKED ON THE NOTICE. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS A FIX OF SOME SORT. THE CURE FOR THE ORIGINAL RECALL SEEMS TO BE WORSE THAN THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM. THE ORIGINAL RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED 9/17/19.

HEARD TICKING COMING FROM ENGINE SHORTLY AFTER ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. BROUGHT THE CAR IN, AND WAS TOLD I HAD TO HAVE INTAKE & EXHAUST CAMSHAFT & LIFTERS REPLACED. HAD REPAIRED, A WEEK LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. GOT A P0456 CODE, BROUGHT IT IN AND AT THIS POINT THEY SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE EVAPORATIVE PURGE VALVE. DID THAT, A WEEK LATER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. NOTHING CHANGED IN THE CAR WHEN THE LIGHT GOES ON, IT JUST COME ON AND STAYS A SOLID YELLOW UPON STARTUP

THE VEHICLE ENGINE HAD A CLICKING/TICKING NOISE FOR WELL OVER A YEAR. WE BROUGHT THIS ISSUE UP WITH THE SERVICE DEPT AND WERE TOLD IT WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. WHILE DRIVING HOME 1 NIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE STARTED TO HESITATE/STUTTER AND WE HAD A PROBLEM ACCELERATING WHILE DRIVING. WE DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR 20 MILES AT 40 MPH WITH THE HAZARDS ON I95. WE FOUND OUT FROM SERVICE THE NEXT DAY THAT THE ISSUE WAS A DAMAGED CAMSHAFT DUE TO A FAILED ROCKER ARM. ALL ROCKERS AND LIFTERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE VALVE COVER GASKETS AND INTAKE SEALS. SINCE THE ISSUE OCCURED OUT OF WARRANTY I WAS STUCK WITH FOOTING THE WHOLE 1961.49 BILL EVEN THOUGH I BROUGHT THE ISSUE UP WITH SERVICE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY.

ENGINE COOLANT LEAK. HAD TO REPLACE THE TURBO WATER FEED TUBE LOCATED UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE TUBE HAS APPROXIMATE 3" RUBBER LINE WHICH IS EXPOSED TO HIGH TEMPERATURES AND OVER TIME FAILS, REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. REPAIR COST OF $1101.72. AFTER REPLACING THE HOSE AND COMPLETING THE REPAIR, I STILL HAD A COOLANT LEAK. THIS TIME IT APPEARED TO BE THE WATER PUMP. I WENT TO THE DEALER TO GET THE PURCHASE THE PUMP AND THERE WAS A MECHANIC NOTE STATING TO CHECK THE WATER PUMP SEALS AS IT IS KNOWN TO HAVE A PINCHED SEAL WHICH CAUSES LEAKAGE. TO REPLACE THE SEALS, THE MECHANIC HAS TO REMOVE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND THE COVERS IN FRONT OF THE WATER PUMP BEFORE THE PUMP CAN BE REMOVED (LABOR INTENSIVE). UP UNTIL I HAD THE VO8 RECALL I DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEMS. I ALSO RECENTLY HAD A SERVICE DEF SYSTEM ALERT. WHEN I SPOKE WITH THE MECHANIC HE STATED ARE YOU HAVING COOLANT LEAKAGE AND I SAID YES. THE MECHANIC SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR TURBO IS ABOUT TO FAIL. THIS IS WHEN I IDENTIFIED THERE IS A VO1 RECALL.

MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS 85,820 MILES & THE RADIATOR WAS FOUND LEAKING WHEN BROUGHT IN FOR A ENGINE CODE INDICATING THE THERMOSTAT WAS BAD. THE THERMOSTAT WAS REPLACED ($130.00 PART) AND THEN THE CHRYSLER DEALER TOLD ME THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY DEALER MENTIONED THIS HAS BEEN MORE COMMON WITH JEEPS AND THEY NOW KEEP THE RADIATOR IN STOCK. IT COST JUST UNDER AN ADDITIONAL $900.00 TO HAVE THE RADIATOR REPLACED. IF SO MANY JEEP'S ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WHY HAS A RECALL NOT BEEN ISSUED. I HAVE NEVER HAD A RADIATOR FAIL IN ANY OF MY VEHICLES SO SOON. IS THIS NOT JUSTIFICATION FOR A RECALL? I WOULD THINK OWNERS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED (AHEAD OF TIME) OF THIS POTENTIAL FAILURE IF INDEED IT IS THIS COMMON AN OCCURRENCE.

I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TOWBIN DODGE IN NORTH LAS VEGAS FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ARE USED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SERVICE TO GET THE CAR LOOKED AT AND REPAIRED. THE MAINTENANCE REPRESENTATIVE ADVISED ME THAT THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE OMISSIONS ON THE DIESEL ENGINE. I WAS AWARE OF THE ECO-DIESEL RECALL AND HAD DECIDED NOT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS RECALL. I WAS PREPARED NOT TO RECEIVE THE $3000 THAT DIAMOND CHRYSLER FIAT WAS OFFERING FOR CUSTOMERS TO GET THIS DONE. I ADVISE MATT THE MAINTENANCE REPRESENTATIVE NOT TO ACCOMPLISH THE RECALL.WHEN MY WIFE WENT TO GO PICK UP THE VEHICLE TO OUR SURPRISE THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. MATT AND THE SERVICE MANAGER JESUS ADMITTED TO THEIR MISTAKE OF ACCOMPLISHING THE RECALL WITHOUT OUR AUTHORIZATION. I HAVE ASKED HIM TO REVERT THE SOFTWARE TO THE MANUFACTURE DEFAULT AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH IT. I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGER ROBERT. I ASKED ROBERT TO BUY THE VEHICLE BACK FOR ME BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT ITANYMORE. HE SAID HE WOULD COORDINATE WITH DAMIAN CHRYSLER FIAT TO SEE WHAT COULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS. I WOULD LIKE SOME ASSISTANCE IN COORDINATING WITH THE MANUFACTURE OF THE VEHICLE TO GET IT BOUGHT BACK.

AT ABOUT 11AM, 11 SEPTEMBER 2019, MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4-WD LIMITED SHUT DOWN ON THE ROADWAY. TRAVEL SPEED PRIOR TO ENGINE FAILURE WAS ABOUT 20MPH. DURING THE BREAKDOWN, THE ECODIESEL, 3.0L ENGINE STALLED WHILE MAKING LOUD METALLIC-CHATTERING NOISE. AFTER THE KEY-LESS IGNITION WAS PRESSED TO OFF, A RE-START WAS ATTEMPTED BUT THAT FAILED. THE STARTER MOTOR REFUSED TO OPERATE WHEN RE-START WAS ATTEMPTED. BECAUSE RE-START FAILED, THE SHIFT REMAINED LOCKED INTO PARK. WITH THE VEHICLE LOCKED INTO PARK, IT BLOCKED THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY. INTERVENTION BY LOCAL POLICE PREVENTED FURTHER DAMAGE TO VEHICLE AND DRIVER. THERE WAS LITTLE WARNING OF PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. A LOUDER-THAN-USUAL DIESEL RUMBLE WAS REPORTED TO A JEEP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ON 18 JUNE 2019, BUT THIS SOUND WAS JUDGED 'NORMAL' BY THE TECHNICIAN WHO CHECKED THE COMPLAINT. THIS JEEP GC HAD ONLY 21,300 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WHEN THE ECODIESEL FAILED. ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICE DURING 2015-TO-11 SEPT.19 WAS PERFORMED THROUGH AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALERS. A PARTIAL ANALYSIS, POST BREAKDOWN, BY JEEP SERVICE TECHS SHOWED 'BOTTOM-END ENGINE FAILURE' WITH 'ZERO COMPRESSION' MEASURED ON ONE CYLINDER. JEEP SERVICE PROMISED AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO OPERATION.

PREVIOUSLY ENTERED COMPLAINT REGARDING COLD THROTTLE/TURBO LAG OF 3-5 SECONDS WHICH IS DANGEROUS FOR PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AND ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS BUT THIS IS NOT LIMITED TO COLD VEHICLES. THE LAG IS SHORTER BUT EVIDENT WHEN WARM. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF HITTING THE LAG WHILE TRYING TO TURN IN AN INTERSECTION AND THERE IS A "FLAT SPOT" LAG OF 2 -3 SECONDS. PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC CAN CAUSE A LAG THEN SURGE FORWARD. I HAVE ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SEVERAL TIMES AND HAD DIFFICULTY SWITCHING LANES BECAUSE I GET THE NOSE OF THE VEHICLE TURNED INTO ANOTHER LANE THEN IT DOES NOT MOVE CAUSING NEAR COLLUSIONS THEN SURGES FORWARD. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I AM BEGINNING TO BE FRIGHTENED OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE FOR EVEN THE SHORTEST OF TIMES.

ONE DAY WHEN LEAVING A BARBERSHOP MY WIFE TRIED TO START OUR JEEP AND IT WOULD NOT CRANK. IT WOULD TURN OVER, START FOR A SECOND THEN TURN OFF. AFTER SITTING FOR A WHILE LONGER IT STARTED UP AND DROVE FINE. THIS PAST SUNDAY WE WERE LEAVING A GAS STATION TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE AND IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION IT SHUT OFF. ALL ACCELERATION STOPPED AND THE JEEP WENT INTO PARK AND LEFT US STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. ONCE WE USED THE MANUAL PARK RELEASE AND GOT OUT OF THE INTERSECTION WE LET IT SIT FOR A LITTLE BIT. MY WIFE GOT IN THE DRIVER SEAT AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. WE THEN DROVE IT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSED AS THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH. I SPOKE WITH A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THAT IS 'NOT A PART LISTED' IN THEIR PARTS CATALOG. THIS VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND MY PREGNANT WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN T-BONED IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE.

SINCE DOING THE ECO DIESEL UPDATE JEEP HAS A SERIOUS LAG / STALL WHEN ACCELERATING AND WHEN GOING AROUND 20 MILES PER HOUR WHEN ACCELERATING. NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN CROSSING OUT INTO TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE HAS A LAG/ POWER DELAY ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE UNTIL THE ECO DIESEL UPDATE WAS DONE. ITS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP, PER THE SERVICE MANAGER THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH THE JEEP AND TRUCKS DUE TO THE ECO DIESEL UPDATE, BUT THEY HAVE NO RESOLUTION.

7/8/19 I BROUGHT MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN FOR THE VO8 EMISSIONS RECALL TWO DAYS LATER MY VEHICLE WAS RETURNED 7/10/19. 7/12/19 I WENT TO HAVE MY VEHICLE SMOG CHECK COMPLETED AND THE SMOG CHECK FAILED DUE TO THE FOLLOWING 'YOUR VEHICLE FAILED THE SMOG CHECK INSPECTION DUE TO THE FACT THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLES ON-BOARD COMPUTER SYSTEM HAS NOT COMPLETED THE EMISSION SYSTEM SELF-CHECKS.' DURING THAT TIME I HAD ALREADY CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO RETURN MY VEHICLE TO CHECKED FOR POSSIBLE ISSUES CAUSED BY THE VO8 EMISSIONS RECALL. UPON MY DRIVE FROM SMOG TEST TO JEEP CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP (10.3) NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND AS I APPROACHED THE DEALERSHIP THE OIL TEMPERATURE GAUGE DID START TO RISE. ONCE PARKED I NOTICED OIL DRIPPING FROM THE PASSENGER FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE ATTENDANT PLUGGED IN THE ERROR CODE READER AND NO CODES/ERRORS WERE DETECTED AS IF OPERATING 100% AS INTENDED. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS EVIDENT THAT MY JEEP HAD CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. IT WAS DETERMINED MY ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE VO8 EMISSIONS RECALL AND I HAVE CO-WORK THAT EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE RESULTING IN THE ENGINE TO BE REPLACED TWO DAYS AFTER THE VO8 EMISSIONS RECALL WAS COMPLETED . THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE WAS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL 8/21/19 AND I MAY HAVE MY JEEP BACK 8/30/19. THE REPAIR WORK COMPLETED ON MY VEHICLE IS NOT FLUKE AND THE RECALL WORK BEING PERFORMED IS NOT SATISFACTORY AND POSSIBLY RUSHED TO MEET DEADLINES FOR COMPLIANCE. FCA US LLC , AS AN ORGANIZATION NEEDS TO LOOK AT THE RECALL PRACTICES HOLISTICALLY, THINK ABOUT THE PEOPLE AND THEIR FAMILY BEING IMPACTED BY THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL SHORT COMINGS.

EVER SINCE THE FCA ECODIESEL EXHAUST EMISSIONS UPDATE, MY VEHICLE HAS HAD TERRIBLE TURBO-LAG. WHEN YOU STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR, ESPECIALLY AFTER A COLD START IT CAN TAKE UP TO 4 SECONDS TO ACTUALLY MOVE FORWARD. I ALREADY REPORTED THIS ONCE BEFORE, BUT THIS VEHICLE IS A SERIOUS HAZARD. TRYING TO CROSS ANY TYPE OF TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS. IT ALSO HAS ANYWHERE FROM 3-4MPG DROP SINCE THE UPDATE.
Mileage: 64,000
ECODIESEL EMISSIONS RECALL. AFTER HAVING THE EMISSIONS RECALL DONE TO MY VEHICLE ON 8/20/19, THE VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY SLUGGISH AND NON RELIABLE. THE TURBO LAG IS HORRIBLE, SOMETIMES 1-3 SECONDS, SOMETIMES 4 OR 5. TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHERE IT WANTS TO BE AT TIMES. NONE OF THE ISSUES ARE CONSTANT AND THEREFORE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU PULL INTO TRAFFIC IF YOU WILL HAVE THE POWER NEEDED OR STALL AND GET HIT. SAFETY HAZARD IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT AND FAMILIES WILL BE HURT OVER THIS POOR ATTEMPT AT A "FIX". JEEP WAS EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE AND HAD MORE TORQUE READILY AVAILABLE PRIOR TO THE RECALL. NOW IT IS GUTLESS AND I WOULDN'T ATTEMPT TO HOOK THE BOAT UP TO IT.
Mileage: 78,000
SINCE I HAD THE EXHAUST EMISSIONS UPDATE DONE, MY JEEP HAS AN EXTREMELY LONG LAG IN ACCELERATION. IT TAKES A GOOD 2-3 SECONDS AFTER STEPPING ON THE THROTTLE, BEFORE THE CAR MOVES FORWARD. I WAS ALMOST HIT HEAD ON IN TRAFFIC ON A HIGHWAY BECAUSE OF THE TIMING OF NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY. THIS WAS NEVER AN ISSUE BEFORE THE EXHAUST UPDATE.

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DIESEL, AFTER V08 RECALL (DIESEL EXHAUST ISSUE), CAR NOW WILL LAG, AND FAIL TO ACCELERATE AT LOWER SPEEDS UNDER LOAD. ACTS AS IF IT WILL STALL. DANGEROUS IN THAT IT FAILS TO RESPOND TO ACCELERATION INPUT UNDER THESE CONDITIONS, USUALLY AROUND 20-25 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN THIS OCCURS, CAR MAKES TWO VERY SHORT AND FAINT BUZZING NOISES FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. CAR DID NOT DO THIS PRIOR TO THE V08 DIESEL RECALL SOFTWARE FIX. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM, CAR HAS BEEN TO SHOP SEVERAL TIMES, AND EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT AS BEING NORMAL.

VEHICLE EXHIBITED WHAT FELT LIKE A HARD DOWNSHIFT FROM SECOND TO FIRST GEAR. JOLT WAS CONCERNING ENOUGH THAT DRIVER HAD TO APPLY ADDITIONAL BRAKE PRESSURE WHEN COMING TO A FULL STOP. TECHNICIAN AT REPAIR FACILITY DISCOVERED THAT JOLT FELT BY OPERATOR WAS ACTUALLY ENGINE MOVING SIGNIFICANTLY DUE TO DEFECTIVE HYDRAULIC ENGINE ISOLATORS (ENGINE MOUNTS MOPAR P/N 68252522AA). MOUNTS WERE REPLACED AND PROBLEM NO LONGER DETECTED. INTERNET RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE WK2 MODEL OF THE JEEP AND TYPICALLY OCCURS APPROXIMATELY FOUR (4) YEARS AFTER DATE OF MANUFACTURE. OPERATOR'S CONCERN IS THAT INADEQUATELY OR UNSECURED ENGINE SHIFT COULD CAUSE COLLISION OR LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. MANUFACTURER APPARENTLY DOES NOT FEEL THIS DEFECTIVE/UNRELIABLE COMPONENT DESIGN IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

EMISSION CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR SMALL EVAPORATION EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK P0456 FAULT CODE. ALSO, FUEL TANK WONT FILL WITH FUEL AT HIGHER NOZZLE FLOW RATES... POSSIBLY DUE TO TANK CHECK VALVE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL DISQUALIFY THE EMISSION TEST FOR THE VEHICLE AND PREVENT OBTAINING A LICENCE PLATE RENEWAL. THE CHECK VALVE WILL ONLY ALLOW A SLOW FILL USING A MANUAL GRASP OF THE NOZZLE LEVER TO RESTRICT THE FLOW TO THE SMALLEST AMOUNT POSSIBLE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND NEEDS A RECALL THE REFILL IS OF COURSE, IS DONE IN PARK, AT A GAS STATION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OCCURS AT STARTUP.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECO DIESEL STARTED TO MAKE A RUMBLING NOISE, THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON WITHIN A MINUTE THE ENGINE SHUT OFF STILL AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WHEN I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER THE CAR WAS STUCK IN GEAR, WOULD NOT RESTART AND HAD A SMALL OIL LEAK. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE CAR HAD ENGINE DAMAGE AND THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CAR HAS LESS THAN 33,000 MILES AND STILL HAS ORIGINAL TIRES, AND BRAKES. ALL OIL CHANGE SERVICES WERE PERFORMED AS SUGGESTED. CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM DEALER AUGUST 4TH, 2015.

THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. IT HAS A PUSH BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH START. IT LOCKED UP AND IT COULD NOT BE TOWED BECAUSE THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER COULD NOT GET IT IN NATURAL TO MOVE IT. I WAS STRANDED FOR 12 HOURS WITH NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK BEFORE I GOT HELP. ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SHUT DOWN AND I WAS ALONE IN A VERY BAD AREA AT THE TIME. UNLESS THE VEHICLE STARTED IT WOULD DO NOTHING AND COULD NOT BE TOWED. JEEP NEEDS A RECALL ON THIS VERY UNSAFE SYSTEM. THEY SHOULD BE MADE PUT IN AN OVERRIDE SWITCH OR BE ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE WITH A KEY. I AM 76 YEARS OLD AND I WAS GOING TO START ON A 500 MILE TRIP THAT DAY. VERY GOOD THING IT HAPPEN WHEN IT DID. THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD ALONG THE ROAD WITH NO HELP. ALL PUSH BUTTON STARTS NEED A BACKUP TO GET OUT OF THIS SAFETY HAZARD. I UNLOCKED THE DOOR GET IN AND PUSHED THE START BUTTON AND NOTHING. ALL KIND OF LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND DISPLAYED A LOT OF THINGS THAT WOULD NOT WORK. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO IN OR OUT OF GEAR.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON A 2-LANE ROAD, OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECODIESEL BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BEGAN GOING OFF SEEMINGLY RANDOMLY, AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE QUICKLY PULLED OVER AND PUT IN A SAFE CONDITION ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS THE ENGINE STALLED. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER 2 MONTHS OF TROUBLESHOOTING WITH CHRYSLER ENGINEERING, OUR SHOP BELIEVES THEY HAVE FOUND THE ISSUE, WHICH IS A FAULTY TONE WHEEL IN THE DRIVETRAIN, AT WHERE THE ENGINE COUPLES TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE TONE WHEEL LOST ABOUT 1/4" OF ENCODED MAGNETIC MATERIAL, AND THIS MADE THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE, EVEN WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS FAILURE THREW NO CODES TO THE COMPUTER FOR THE TECHNICIAN TO INTERPRET, AND THE ONLY SYMPTOM IS THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT FIRE, EVEN THOUGH, AS A DIESEL, THERE IS NO SPARK IGNITION SYSTEM.

I HAD MY JEEP FOR LESS THAN A YEAR AND ONE DAY, FOR NO REASON, IT JUST SHUT OFF. I TOOK IT TO JEEP AND THEY SAID THE WRONG OIL WAS USED IN THE PREVIOUS OIL CHANGE. SO THEY PUT OIL IN THE TRUCK. A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER AND IT'S DOING THE SAME THING. IT'S A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. I CAN'T TAKE A CHANCE ON DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE JUST SHUTS OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION EACH TIME.

I WAS TRAVELING UP INTERSTATE 95 JUST PASSED EXIT 26 IN CONNECTICUT. AS I APPROACHED EXIT 27 A A VEHICLE IN THE EXIT ONLY LANE MERGED INTO THE SLOW LANE IN FRONT OF ME. I PROCEEDED TO THEN ACCELERATE AROUND THE VEHICLE THAT HAD CROSSED IN FRONT OF ME AND IMMEDIATELY AS I ACCELERATED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE UNCONTROLLABLY TO AN UNSAFE SPEED. I SHIFTED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND BRAKED AND STEERED APPROPRIATELY. AS MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW I THEN PROCEEDED TO SHIFT THE CAR BACK INTO DRIVE HOPING THAT THE ISSUE WOULD BE RESOLVED. WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS A NEUTRAL I TAPPED THE GAS PEDAL IN HOPES OF IF IT WAS JAMMED OR STOCK IT WOULD COME LOOSE AND I WOULD BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE. UNFORTUNATELY THE PEDAL DID NOT COME ON STOCK AS I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE I REALIZE THAT MY SPEED WAS DROPPING TO AN UNSAFE RATE WHILE BEING ON AN INTERSTATE I PROCEEDED TO SHIFT MY CAR BACK INTO DRIVE ONLY TO HAVE THE PEDAL THAT WAS STILL PRESSED TO THE FLOOR ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE UNCONTROLLABLE TO AGAIN IN UNSAFE SPEED. AFTER I PROCEEDED TO STOMP ON THE THROTTLE IN HOPES OF LOOSENING IT FROM WHATEVER IT WAS THAT WAS CAUSING IT TO BE STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION, THE PEDAL FINALLY RETURNED TO ITS ON STOCK POSITION WITH A LOUD BANG. I DON'T PROCEEDED TO STEER IMMEDIATELY OFF THE HIGHWAY AT THE NEXT AVAILABLE EXIT AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF...UPDATED 04/20/17 *BF ..UPDATED 05/09/17 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE FLOOR MAT CLOSEST TO THE ACCELERATOR WAS TRIMMED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN LESS THAN A YEAR FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE, THE VEHICLE HAD MAJOR REPAIRS INCLUDING A COMPLETE ENGINE REPLACEMENT AND AN EXHAUST SYSTEM REPLACEMENT. BASED ON MULTIPLE SERVICE ISSUES WITH VEHICLES WITH THIS DIESEL ENGINE, MY LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP DOES NOT STOCK OR SELL THE GRAND CHEROKEE WITH THIS ENGINE ANYMORE. I'VE CONTACTED MY DEALER AT RAY BRANDT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP LOCATED AT 1660 WESTBANK EXPY, HARVEY, LA 70058 IN REFERENCE TO THE IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL OF THE "AUTO PARK" FEATURE. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT MY VEHICLE MAY ROLL AWAY, STRIKING AND INJURING ME, MY WIFE, OR BABY EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE INDICATES IT IS IN PARK. THE EMPLOYEE ADVISED THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT HE CAN DO. I THEN STATED, "SO, I'M AM JUST SUPPOSE TO HOPE THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT SLIP OUT OF GEAR?" I FELT THAT THIS WAS A BIT RIDICULOUS AND EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. I AM UNPLEASED WITH THE WAY I WAS TREATED AND THE OUTCOME OF MY SERVICE REQUEST. WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE LONG DISTANCES ON THE HIGHWAY THEN ENTERING THE CITY THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT HARD BETWEEN THIRD AND SECOND GEAR. IT WILL STAY THAT WAY FOR A DAY AND THEN AFTER SITTING FOR OVER 12 HOURS IT WILL SLOWLY START TO GO AWAY. JEEP DID ON FLASH UPDATES AND WAS ON ABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. WE BOUGHT OUR GRAND CHEROKEE AT FALLS MOTOR CITY AND THEY OFFERED US A FREE FIRST OIL CHANGE. AT 7000 MILES WE TOOK IT IN HAD THE OIL CHANGE. DEALER NEVER RESET OIL LIGHT DROVE IT HOME NEXT DAY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. FOUND OIL IN EVERYTHING. TOOK TO ANOTHER JEEP DEALER THEY DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE SAYING THAT WAS ISSUE. THAT DIDNT FIX IT. SECOND TIME THEY CHANGED CRANKCASE SENSOR SINCE IT HAD OIL IN IT. STILL DIDNT FIX IT. 3RD TIME THEY REPLACED THE CRANKCASE COVER FOR OIL CAP SINCE IT WAS LEAKING. AFTER 7000 MILES THEY FOUND THAT THE JEEP HAD 11 QUARTS OF OIL IN IT AND IT WAS SUPPOSED TO ONLY HAVE 8 IN IT. THE OWNERS MANUAL SAYS 8 QUARTS BUT I HAVE FOUND ONLINE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAS MORE THEN 8 QUARTS IN THEIR ECO DIESEL. DUE TO THIS WE HAD LOST 5MPG AND USED EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF DEF. FALLS MOTOR CITY SAID THAT THERE WONT BE ANY ISSUE NOW THAT THE OTHER DEALER PUT THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF OIL IN IT. THERE IS STILL OIL IN EVERYTHING. THE MILEAGE HAS GONE BACK UP SOME BUT STILL NOT GETTING WHAT IT USED TO BE. IM WORRIED NOW THAT LATER ON DOWN THE ROAD THE MOTOR WILL FAIL OR SOMETHING ON THE MOTOR WILL FAIL DUE TO OIL BEING PUSHED EVERYWHERE ELSE SINCE IT WAS OVERFILLED. THIS ALL HAPPENED BACK IN OCTOBER 2015 AND JUST THE END OF JAN IS WHEN EVERYTHING WAS FIGURED OUT TOO MUCH OIL WAS PUT IN. ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF IS CHRYSLER MESSED UP AND HAD IN THEIR SYSTEMS THAT THE ECO DIESEL WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE 11 QUARTS AND NOT 8 SINCE OTHER VEHICLES HAVE HAD THAT MUCH PUT IN ALSO AT THE DEALER. IT SAYS 8 QUARTS IN THE OWNERS MANUAL.

I BOUGHT A NEW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ON THE CAR GOING DOWN A MOUNTAIN! THANK GOD FOR BRAKES AS THERE WAS NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE CAR WITH ONE THAT IS IDENTICAL. IT IS BRAND NEW AND I HAVE HAD IT FOR 3 WEEKS AND IT IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AS THE OTHER ONE. IT GETS STUCK IN GEARS. ENGINE STALLS AND REVS UP WHEN CHANGING GEARS! I FEAR FOR MY LIFE IN THIS VEHICLE. ALSO, WATER POURS FROM THE BASE OF THE EXHAUST PIPES. NOT FROM THE TIPS.. IT UNREAL HOW MUCH WATER POURS OUT OF THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE!! THIS IS A BAD SERIOUSLY GRAVE SITUATION! I CALLED FLETCHER DODGE JEEP IN SHERWOOD ARKANSAS WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO DRIVE IT 2.5 HOURS TO THEM SO THEY CAN SEE IF A SHIFT RELEARN WOULD WORK OR IF THIS CAR WILL BE A LEMON TOO!! THEY SAID THE RELEARN ONLY WORKS ON SOME OF THE VEHICLES!!! PLEASE HALT CHRYSLER FROM THE PRODUCTION OF 8 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AS THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THEM AND THEY ARE GOING TO START KILLING PEOPLE!

WHILE DRIVING MY BRAND NEW 3DAY OLD 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I LOST ALL CONTROL OF MY BRAKES AND STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO COAST AND GET OFF OF THE ROAD. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALER WHO SENT A FLAT BED TOW TRUCK TO HAUL THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. ONCE AT THE DEALER I WAS EXTREMELY UPSET AND SHAKEN AND RECEIVED A CHILLY RECEPTION FROM THE SALES MANAGER AND DEALER DIRECTOR. MY CONCERN AND VEHICLE MALFUNCTION WAS DOWNPLAYED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY CONDESCENDING AND ACTED AS IF I HAD MADE UP THE ENTIRE SITUATION. THEY INSISTED THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF A PROBLEM LIKE THIS OCCURRING WITH A JEEP. I TOLD THEM I DIDN'T WANT MY CAR FIXED, I INSTEAD WANTED MY TRADE IN BACK AND THE DEAL VOIDED. NO QUESTIONED WERE ASKED...THE DEALER NEVER OFFERED TO PUT ME IN ANOTHER JEEP WHICH I FOUND ODD, AND INSTEAD I WAS TOLD I WAS OVER REACTING AND THEY REVERSED MY PAPER WORK. THEY DEALER CONTINUED TO IGNORE MY CONCERN THAT SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN HURT DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE PAPERWORK TO REVERSE MY SALE WAS EXECUTED QUICKLY AND I WAS ESCORTED OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP WITHIN 30 MINUTES. I DID CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP'S OWNER TO REPORT MY SAFETY CONCERN AND THE DEALERSHIP'S FLIPPANT ATTITUDE, BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED A PHONE CALL BACK.

I PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE 11/8/2014. SINCE THEN HERE IS AN ONGOING, HIGH PITCHED NOISE UPON ACCELERATION FROM ZERO TO ANY CRUISING SPEED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 3 DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERS FOR THIS COMPLAINT AND OTHERS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS SAY IT IS DUE TO THE 9 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ONE DEALER TRIED TO BLAME IT ON MY PLASTIC SUNGLASSES IN THE OVERHEAD STORAGE COMPARTMENT. ONE DEALER REPORTED TO ME THAT THE SAME NOISE WAS HEARD ON 2 BRAND NEW VEHICLES JUST DELIVERED TO THEM. I ALSO HAVE ONGOING ELECTRICAL ISSUES - STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS REVERSE SIDES LEFT TO RIGHT, RIGHT TO LEFT FOR AUDIO CONTROLS, THE RADIO RANDOMLY STARTS SWITCHING CHANNELS, AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM SENSORS TURNS ON TO ENABLE MODE, BUT IN THIS MODE THE HIGH BEAMS DO NOT DIM. THIS FUNCTION WORKED INITIALLY, THEN IT DIDN'T AND ONE DEALER SAID IT LOST IT'S PROGRAM SO THEY RESET IT. ANOTHER DEALER SAID THE SENSOR IS NOT WORKING. I WILL HAVE IT LOOKED AT AGAIN AT MY NEXT SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THE PHONE CALL/PHONE CALL CANCEL BUTTONS ALSO REVERSE FUNCTION. THE FUEL TAKE DOOR RANDOMLY POPS OPEN. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED AT MY WORK OR HOME. I HAVE HAD THIS REPAIRED ONCE. IT STILL CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. THE JEEP WILL RANDOMLY LURCH FORWARD WHILE STOPPED, BRAKES ENGAGED AND VEHICLE IS RUNNING - AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, WITH MY FOOT STEADY ON THE GAS, AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED HARD (8 SPEED AUTOMATIC) AND LUNGED MY CAR FORWARD WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. THEN IT CONTINUED TO SHIFT HARD AND LUNGE UNTIL I REACHED AND MAINTAINED 40 MPH ( IN WHICH MY JEEP PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO 8TH GEAR AT A STEADY 1000 RPM). THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE, AND SOMETIMES WHEN I REMOTE START THE JEEP, IT WILL GIVE OFF A VERY LOUD HIGH PITCHED WHINING SOUND FOR ABOUT A MINUTE, THEN STOPS. *TR

A WEEK PRIOR TO THE MAJOR ISSUE THE VEHICLE WAS SHOWING SIGNS OF MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. THESE PROBLEMS INCLUDED THE WIPERS TURNING ON WHEN THEY WERE IN THE OFF POSITION, SIMULTANEOUSLY THE RADIO CUT OUT (THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES THAT DAY). THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING TO WORK AT 6:30AM THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND DOORS BLINKED ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP THAT DAY BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT RIGHT AWAY. FOUR DAYS AFTER THIS ALL STARTED I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE GOING ABOUT 40 MPH AND SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 10-15 MPH TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING LOT, I WENT TO GIVE THE CAR GAS TO COMPLETE MY TURN AND REALIZED THAT THE CAR HAD LOST POWER. I COASTED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND LOOKED DOWN AT THE EVIC SCREEN TO REALIZE THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL WITHOUT MY DOING AND WOULD NOT RESTART ITSELF. MANY MECHANICAL LIGHTS WERE POPPING UP ON THE EVIC SCREEN, WHICH I TOOK PICTURES OF FOR RECORDS. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT DAY.HOWEVER I AM SCARED THAT IF THEY "FIX" IT , IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. ON MONDAY 3/16/15: THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE WIPER/RADIO ISSUE WAS FIXED WITH AN "UPDATE" BUT THE MASTER TECH THAT WORKS FOR THE DEALERSHIP REQUESTED TO DRIVE MY CAR HOME WITH HIM TO MAKE SURE THE PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A TECH TAKING HOME A CAR BEFORE BUT I AGREED TO LET HIM SINCE I FEEL I AM AT THE HANDS OF JEEPS MERCY IN FIXING THIS ISSUE. I AM VERY DISPLEASED THAT A JGC DEPENDING ON THE MODEL WORTH $40-70K HAS MANY COMPLAINTS LOADED AGAINST THEM WITH LITTLE END IN SIGHT OF THE COMPANY WANTING TO RESOLVE THESE COMPLAINTS. I REFUSE TO PUT MY SAFETY AND OTHERS SAFETY IN JEOPARDY! THIS COMPANY KNOWS SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THEIR CARS AND THEY DO NOTHING ABOUT IT BUT KEEP SAYING ITS A "SOFTWARE UPDATE". I HAVE READ THE FORUMS AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES, ITS NOT JUST "SOFTWARE". *TR
