The transmission on this 2016 grand jeep Cherokee had completely went out due to fluids being in the transmission. Which is causing a head gasket problem as well. This car was regularly serviced. Only had this vehicle 7-8 months. My safety was put at risk when I was driving my kids to school and on my way to work when it started to overheat causing me to pull over and not being able to drive this vehicle. This jeep is currently at an authorized dealer and has been diagnosed. There were absolutely NO warning signs whatsoever to indicate that this vehicle was going to go out on me. I don’t think it’s fair for me to have to give up my vehicle for something that I did not cause!
From one day to the next the engine is blown. Mechanic says the engine was hot for a while but no light or notices came up until the day of the major issue. I had jsut taken it to get new headlights and tires rotated and no mention of anything off. From oen day to thenext it overheated. I see similar RECALLS on the SAME EXACT JEEP. Make model and year.
Passive head rest deployed while sitting idle in drivers seat! Slamming into the side of my head! Causing a mild concussion! Took it into dealership and they replaced saying it didn’t have a recall! That only replaced if it failed! We wanted to have passenger side replaced also!
There are issues with the leather dashboard wrinkling, delaminating, and bubbling. I contacted Jeep (case #91040374) after the dealership refused to fix the dashboard. This situation has worsened and requires a new dashboard ($3500) to repair the issue.
Jeep turns off while driving and makes me put it into park to turn it back on and into drive again. Lights flicker from dim to bright inside and outside. I have changed both batteries and the alternator.
I'm not sure what components malfunctioned but my vehicle is in a body shop currently getting work done from the accident I was recently in. The safety of my cousin and I was put into risk when I was driving on the highway and I hydroplaned on the highway and did a 180 degree turn but luckily no one hit me and I didn't hit anyone else. I slammed on the concrete median which is what stopped my vehicle on the highway leaving my vehicle with 9 thousand in damages. I filed an insurance claim and is now getting fixed like I mentioned. Prior to the accident I had noticed the car shifting to the left and dramatically declining acceleration and a loud pop by the front driver tire. That is the best way to describe what the car does. So on the day of the incident I believe the car did what I just explained and it caused me to hydroplane and I'm in fear it is going to happen again. I have taken it to another shop after the accident because my vehicle would not start and a different shop said they heard the noise but could not figure out what it was. When I get my vehicle back I planned on taking it to a recall center but I decided to make this report first. There were no warning lights before during or after the accident.
Terrible band aid like fix of the software “update” truck runs awful, .The fuel pump recall has me worried about safety concerns, the transmission tune feels unsafe for new drivers and the big , loss of value, and lack of reliability it took 2 months for a recall. I am a disabled combat veteran on a fixed income I can not afford such maintenance and the lack of reliability
On 4/14/2023 while getting tire rotation and other general maintenance done on my 2016 Jeep, I was informed by service Tec that my lug nuts on my Jeep were swollen and soon will not be able to remove or break, causing issues like tire rotation and general maintenance impossible and high risk of cracking and breaking. This would cause the Jeep to lose its stability, at a higher speed, wheel could come off. This could cause serious damage/injury or death if this happened. I went to local Chrysler dealer in Turnersville and spoke with parts department. They stated each lug bolt cost $18.00 each. I need 20 to replace defective ones. Chrysler parts rep suggested I call Chrysler customer service who he believes would send replacement bolts as these are steel and should not swell at all. I did call and open a complaint with Chrysler recently this month, June. I was just informed by Chrysler customer service that they deem this a warranty issue and not a safety issue and refuse to remedy or replace the defective lug bolts. I’m asking for your assistance in this situation to help replace the defective lug bolts via Chrysler before a serious accident or injury happens. I think it’s totally unacceptable that replacing these defective lug bolts cost $18.00 each and I’m being told to pay this , total cost is $360 for 20 lug bolts that are defective original Chrysler parts
I noticed a fire from under the hood, half of my car burnt down. I had been parked at home for about five minutes when I noticed a fire.
Water pump issue. While driving, the thermometer gauge suddenly went to "H", check engine light came on, no smoke seen and the car suddenly stopped. Coolant confirmed in the tank. The incident happened without warning and was frightening. The car was towed by AAA road service to Olathe jeep dealership and awaiting additional diagnostics. Please advise on the recalls. FCA/Mopar acknowledges issues with water pumps and head gasket issues related to leaks. Please advise.
Dashboard leather trim has come so wrinkled, unglued that it blocks my front windshield defrosters from working efficiently.
Driving 55 MPH, my vehicle had a slight jerk in transmission, engine light popped on. Alert popped up on dashboard and stated “Place car into P, Trans”. Car automatically shifted into neutral, and I rolled over to side of road, shifted car in park. Car remained running but would not shift back into drive
LEATHER DASH IS STARTING TO PEEL OFF MY DASHBOARD OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW ON THE WINDSHIELD
I have an error message coming on stating service shifter then a message to tell you how to get into park if it’s not working It doesn’t come on every time I drive it but it’s annoying when it dings upon stopping and taking off! So far it hasn’t stopped working but I don’t want to be on the road traveling and it does I seen a recall on some Jeep Grand Cherokee but my VIIN isn’t coming up on the recall list They have checked it at the dealership but they don’t know what it is
I purchased a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodeisel in 2018 through a loan. Since day one it has been nothing but issues. I feel I purchased a lemon. There has been several recalls on the vehicle over the time I have owned the vehicle. I have received the required services for each recall expecting the issues to be resolved. The issues continue to this day. In fact my check engine light came on again after it was serviced roughly 2 weeks ago. The check engine light comes on at least once a month. To top it off due to the EcoDeisel problems they had an ecodeisel settlement I submitted a claim for. I submitted all the required documents several months before the deadline to get reimbursement the qualified amount but I have not received a dime. I tried to reach out via email and phone calls but never got a response. No reply from emails and whenever I called I would only automated prompts and then it would hang up on me. I tried several different options hoping to get through but never could speak to a live person. I feel I have been cheated.
WHILE DRIVING 10-15 MPH ON A DESOLATE RESIDENTIAL STREET, MY HEADS UP DISPLAY READ 'SHIFT TO P' WITH NO RESPONSE WITH THE GAS PEDAL PRESSED AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF BUT ACC WAS ON AND I WAS ABLE BRAKE TO A STOP, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND PRESS PUSH TO START TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE OPERATED PROPERLY AFTERWARDS AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HALF A BLOCK TO MY HOUSE AND PARK. IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY I MIGHT BE DEAD.

ON 9/20/20 AT APPROX 4:30PM EST, AS WE LEFT A PARKED POSITION AND BEGAN EXITING A PARKING LOT, WE SUDDENLY SMELLED A STRONG ODOR THAT WAS SIMILAR TO THE SMELL OF BURNING CLUTCH PLATES, WE THEN OBSERVED BLACK SMOKE COMING THROUGH THE FRONT PASSENGER VENT. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK WHERE IT STOOD, MY HUSBAND EXITED THE VEHICLE AND I WENT TO THE BACK TO LEASH AND REMOVE MY TWO DOGS FROM THE BACK SEAT. ONCE MY DOGS WERE SAFELY OUT OF THE VEHICLE, I HANDED THE LEASH TO MY HUSBAND, WENT BACK TO THE VEHICLE AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, REMOVED OUR CELL PHONES AND MY PURSE AND STOOD BACK FROM THE VEHICLE. WHEN NO FLAMES WERE OBSERVED, WE OPENED THE HOOD AND OBSERVED BLACK SMOKE AND SMELLED THE SAME SCENT SIMILAR TO BURNING CLUTCH PLATES. THE SMOKE APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE ENGINE NEAR THE FIRE WALL. I WAITED APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES AND WHEN NO FURTHER SMOKE OR ANY OTHER SIGNS OF A FIRE WERE OBSERVED I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE TO MOVE IT FROM THE TRAVEL LANE, THE VEHICLE STARTED AND APPEARED TO RUN AS NORMAL AND NO CODES WERE SHOWING ON THE DASH. I IMMEDIATELY SHUT THE VEHICLE BACK OFF AFTER MOVING IT APPROXIMATELY 30 FEET TO A SAFE PARKING PLACE AND CALLED FOR TOWING. THE TRUCK WAS TRANSPORTED TO CRISWELL CHRYSLER IN THURMONT, MD SOME TIME THAT EVENING. I SPOKE WITH A CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON, LUKE, AT CRISWELL AND DESCRIBED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. AROUND 4:45PM ON 9/21/20 I WAS TOLD THE TECHNICIAN HAD FOUND MULTIPLE BURN HOLES IN MY "INTAKE MANIFOLD". HAVING OWNED A RAM1500 ECODIESEL AND HAVING HAD THE EGR COOLER RECALLED ON THAT VEHICLE, IT CAME TO ME THAT THIS JEEP COULD BE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I AM CONVINCED THAT IF WE HAD BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, WHATEVER CAUSED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD TO BURN, COULD HAVE CAUSED A CATASTROPHIC FIRE EVENT, PUTTING THE LIVES OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY IN DANGER. SEVERE BUCKING & JERKING WHILE DRIVING. MORE MODERATE BUCKING WHILE CAR IS IDLE. CODES BEING THROWN ARE P0406 & P0301. IT HAS ALSO THROWN A P0402 AS WELL. I'VE REPLACED THE EGR VALVE AS WELL AS ALL SPARK PLUGS AND THE PROBLEM STILL HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED. MY FUEL MILEAGE IS TANKING AND DRIVING THE JEEP HAS BECOME ALMOST UNBEARABLE.

THE TOUCH SCREEN RADIO WENT OUT. BECAUSE OF THIS, WHEN THE SEAT WARMERS COME ON VIA REMOTE START, THEY CANNOT BE SHUT OFF, SO THE SEAT GETS EXTREMELY HOT. ALSO, IT WILL ACT LIKE IT'S STARTING BACK UP, AND THE BACK UP CAMERA WILL COME ON EVEN WHILE DRIVING FORWARD. IT KEEPS SHUTTING DOWN AND COMING BACK ON TO WHERE IT SAYS "JEEP" THEN IT WILL SHUT OFF AGAIN.

I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH ON 12/13/19 WHEN I HEARD AN EXPLOSION, AND SUDDENLY GLASS WAS RAINING DOWN ON ME. THANKFULLY MY NEWBORN WAS NOT IN THE BACKSEAT AT THE TIME! MY SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED; I DIDN'T SEE ANY DEBRIS HIT MY CAR PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES CLOSE ENOUGH TO ME TO FLIP UP ROCKS OR OTHER DEBRIS. IT SEEMS MY SUNROOF EXPLODED ON IT'S OWN, FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND WITHOUT WARNING. THERE IS NO ITEM INSIDE MY VEHICLE TO INDICATE SOMETHING CAME THROUGH THE SUNROOF AND LANDED IN MY CAR. NO DAMAGE TO ANY OTHER PORTION OF THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A LARGE HOLE IN THE SUNROOF; THE REMAINING GLASS IS SHATTERED AND THERE ARE GLASS SHARDS LITTERED THROUGHOUT THE CABIN OF MY VEHICLE.

THIS VEHICLE HAS A START/STOP "FEATURE" THAT SHUTS THE ENGINE OFF WHEN STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT AND RESTARTS WHEN FOOT TAKEN OFF BRAKE. IT HAS A DELAY OF A COUPLE OF SECONDS TO RESTART THE ENGINE, DURING WHICH TIME THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN. THE SYSTEM CAN BE TURNED OFF WITH A SWITCH IN THE VEHICLE, BUT IT HAS TO BE DONE EVERY TIME THE CAR IS STARTED - IF THE DRIVER REMEMBERS. THE SYSTEM IS WORKING CORRECTLY, HOWEVER I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR-ENDED SEVERAL TIME BECAUSE THE SYSTEM IS SLOW TO REACT. IT IS A MAJOR ISSUE IF YOU ARE IN AN INTERSECTION ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN - THE DELAY HAS ALMOST GOTTEN US KILLED TWICE (NO ACTUAL ACCIDENT - YET). I WAS TOLD BY OUR JEEP DEALER, AND HAVE READ ONLINE, THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO PERMANENTLY BYPASS THIS FEATURE FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE AN OPTION ON THESE VEHICLES TO TURN THIS FEATURE OFF PERMANENTLY SO THAT IT WILL STAY TURNED OFF THE NEXT TIME THE CAR IS STARTED.

WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY AND ROADWAY SPEEDS, WITH THE WINDOWS IN THE UP POSITION, THE AIR VENTS INSIDE MY VEHICLE DO NOT EMIT NATURAL AIR FLOW FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE INSIDE OF VEH-1 BEGINS TO BECOME STUFFY AND THERE IS NO WAY FOR THE DRIVER OF VEH-1 TO GET AIR UNLESS THE DRIVER TURNS ON CONTROLLED AIR BY FAN. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO JEEP OF BERKELEY AND THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN REMEDIED. VEH-1'S VENTILATION SYSTEM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PUSHING AIR INTO THE CABIN OF THE CAR. THIS IS NOT OCCURRING. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE FROM JEEP IN REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE THAT THEY SEEM TO NOT BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND. MY FAMILY USES VEH-1 AND IN AN EVENT THAT AN ACCIDENT OCCURS, NATURAL AIR WOULD BE HALTED.
