I have noticed the upper edge on my radio screen appears to the bubbling or separating from itself. It has recently become worse and causes "touches" on the screen. It makes calls and ends calls, switches the screen on and off, changes heating settings, disconnects devices, changes or cancels navigation. It makes it very difficult to drive as I cannot turn the screen off.

The car keeps saying the turn signals are out when they all function properly. The car is equipped with the LED factory headlight systems. When it thinks the bulb is out it makes everything flash or turn off so other drivers can’t see your signal. Several other users are also reporting issues online. Dealer says the only way to fix is an entirely new head light assembly at $1300 since the turn signal bulbs are built into the headlight and should be a lifetime part.

Recall as known for 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (Service Electronic Stability Control) that is not fixed and no fix in sight. Unsafe to drive. Can’t get a Maine state inspection sticker. Can’t sell. Many electronic codes show on dash. Rear lights stay on and will just go on automatically anytime and when using key fob to lock car. Dealership can’t fix. Manufacturer doesn’t know when there will be a fix. No answers.

touch screen went black a year ago , cannot use back-up cam or change the settings for my car temperature settings. warranty has expired and jeep refuses to fix, quoting $1,700 although it’s a known issue for this year vehicle. prior to screen going black it would ghost button change the stations, there were lines in the radio screen and it would randomly shut off and on when driving.

I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the screen is delaminating and now my screen is completely black. I cannot do anything on my screen which controls everything in my car. I'm unable to have my heat or air come out of anything except defrost. I had the heat on to defrost my windshield, and it kept switching to a cold setting causing my windows to not defrost. My car will randomly call people from my contacts list or if I'm on a call will place it on hold or mute. When a feature is supposed to help with distracted driving this is doing anything but that and causes all drives to be very distracting. The temperature of my vehicle is constantly switching because of the screen issues. Before my screen went completely black if I was using GPS it would randomly switch my location sometimes to a different continent again causing for a very distracting and unsafe drive because I didn't know where I was going and had to fumble around to find my phone so I could get my maps and not make a wrong turn. I'm thankful a serious accident hasn't occurred yet because of this distraction but if it does Jeep will be taking responsibility. I have called a jeep dealership and states jeep is saying sorry about you, absolutely unacceptable. There is no warning when this happens it starts out as slow minor things happening and is now extremely unsafe to drive because of the distractions it causes. Not to mention no back up camera for that extra step of safety.

I have videos, but my cars electrical system keeps glitching, It will turn my heated seats on to the pint they burn me, it connects to my phone and will randomly call anyone in my contacts, it changes radio stations, messes with my automatic start, took my traction control off and does this on a regular basis. I had this system fixed in March of 2023 just after I bought the car but it’s already doing it again. It also will randomly just cut off when I’m driving and then will be fine very randomly. - I will have to send you the videos I took it says they are too large to upload here

A vehicle that is able to start and shift out of park without depressing the brake pedal can result in unintended vehicle movement which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning and/or injury to others outside the vehicle. There has been a recall out for over an year yet no available solution.

The 2018 Jeep Grand Cheeroke Uconnect/Radio screen delaminates and causes the unit to make all kinds of error calls, GPS location changes and disabling events, without being touched. This is a serious safety concern and that Jeep or Stellantis should voluntarily recall these units for replacement. The driver's attention gets constantly divided to take care of these extra things while driving.

The radio in this vehicle has a widespread issue where the screen delaminates and starts ghost touching . Options are randomly selected , people are randomly called , emergency services are attempted to be contacted. Basically anything that the radio controls in the car could be changed or activated . This is extremely distracting and could cause someone to take their focus off the road and cause an accident. The radio controls heater, navigation, seat heaters, phone calls , steering wheel heaters , and many other functions in the car some of which cannot be changed without the malfunctioning radio being on. Fixing this issue is somewhere in the range of $1300 at the dealership. I feel like this is and important safety issue that causes a lot of distraction when driving the vehicle and is really difficult to work around or avoid as the random screen touches are not predictable and seem to happen at random times.

CAM shaft and yes it is available to be looked at. The vehicle was misdiagnosed multiple times and sent back home with the same error code while fixing other items that were not the root cause of the issue. The engine light was on with the misfire code when I brought it in and was repeatedly sent home and within 20 miles the same code returned.

My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is experiencing serious electrical malfunctions related to the Uconnect radio head unit. This component appears to control or influence multiple vehicle systems beyond just audio, including climate control, backup camera, navigation, and possibly driver assistance features. The system malfunctions frequently and erratically — settings change on their own, the screen goes black or freezes, and controls become unresponsive while driving. These distractions create a serious safety hazard, as I am forced to take my attention off the road to regain control of basic functions like defrost or audio volume. I have discovered that this issue is widely reported by thousands of Jeep owners from this model year and earlier, particularly those with Uconnect systems. Jeep has refused to address or recall the problem despite it clearly impacting driving safety and vehicle usability. This malfunction significantly impairs my ability to operate the vehicle safely. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential safety defect. I have taken my car to the dealership and was advised that the whole radio unit needs to be completely replace. I have contacted Jeep and inquired about it, they told me they are aware of the issue but at this time, unless the car is under warranty, they do not offer any financial assistance. And it is a rather expensive issue to fix considering there is no fault of the car owners that the items installed in their vehicles are faulty.

Jul 20, 2025

Urgent Safety Concern Regarding Defective Uconnect Radio System Shortly after purchasing my vehicle from Bertera in Westfield, Massachusetts, I began experiencing issues with the radio and related components—namely, erratic or "ghost" activity. I returned the vehicle to the dealership on multiple occasions; however, because the issue failed to replicate while in their possession, they were unable to offer any resolution. The problem persisted intermittently, but escalated significantly during a visit to Logan Airport. While curbside, the vehicle began behaving erratically: the exterior lights flashed, doors locked unexpectedly, heated seats activated, windows became unresponsive, and the vehicle could not be exited—even when approached by a security officer. After powering down and waiting for several minutes (with permission from security, as we exceeded our time limit), the system reset.Despite this dangerous scenario, the dealership again reported they could not reproduce the issue and offered no corrective action. On June 11, in preparation for a trip to Boston, I brought the vehicle to Bedard Brothers in Cheshire, Massachusetts—a certified Jeep dealership. Their technician determined the radio screen was delaminated and causing unintended inputs. They informed me that since my warranty had expired, the repair would cost more than $1,400. On [XXX], during travel to Massachusetts General Hospital, the malfunction occurred again: the heated seats engaged and would not turn off (despite temperatures nearing 90°F), the radio volume spiked uncontrollably, and the prior array of electronic malfunctions returned. Fortunately, I was able to attend the appointment and make it home safely. I have contacted Stellantis, Uconnect, and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. While Stellantis expressed sympathy, they stated they could not offer assistance. My research has revealed multiple similar complaints from other vehicle owners. Any help greatly appreciated. Jun 23, 2025

I purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee on [XXX] unaware that the vehicle was subject to a federal safety recall and stop-sale order. The recall (NHTSA 24V-838 / Manufacturer 94B) was issued on November 7, 2024, for a defect in the ABS control module that may disable the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and cause unintended vehicle movement even while stationary. A stop-sale order (VIR 2024-11-14) was issued by Stellantis on November 14, 2024, prohibiting the sale or delivery of affected vehicles until repaired. Despite this, the dealership sold me the vehicle while the recall was still open and unrepaired. In the months following my purchase, I began experiencing issues with the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC). On June 15, 2025, I paid $770 out-of-pocket for ETC sensor repairs after a loss of throttle response. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, but this defect may be linked to the broader electronic issues cited in the recall. No warning lights appeared in advance. I have been driving this vehicle daily without knowing it could malfunction in a way that puts myself and others at risk. I only learned of the recall on June 22, 2025, when I searched the VIN through NHTSA’s database. This has caused emotional distress, financial harm, and a complete loss of trust in the vehicle’s safety. I am seeking appropriate accountability for the illegal sale of this recalled vehicle and want to ensure others are not put in similar danger. I was driving my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 on the highway at approximately 65-70 MPH, when suddenly the car started sputtering and my check engine light came on and started blinking. The car was essentially not drivable, so I pulled over at a gas station and had the car towed. This is dangerous as I was going uphill, and could have caused an accident, or worse. I did not have a check engine light prior to this! The next day the car was inspected and diagnosed by independent service center, who said there was a cylinder 4 engine misfire, so they replaced the spark plugs and the coils. Car was fixed, or so I thought, fast forward a couple months later while driving to work, same issue (misfires and sputtering) occurs again and coolant now runs low even though there are no visible signs of coolant leakage. I spoke to the independent service center and they mentioned there might be an issue with the engine such as a head gasket or fuel system. I got the Jeep towed to get checked, it was confirmed that it was an engine issue, especially the head gasket, camshaft, pistons, and lifters, and that I was going to need a new engine and it would cost between $8500 - 13000. My Jeep has approximately 83K miles. The issues I describe here with this engine are all similar to those that have been reported.

The 2018 grand Cherokee has issues with mother board and electrical ghosts. 1st it was headlights and dome lights. they would flicker. i had to change the front lights 2x in a year. i thought this was odd. never did this with any car before. then I was driving home from work during rush hour and it started to rain. started the wipers front and back. the back wiper started and went halfway and got stuck. what happen? the front wipers went on for several revolutions (say 10-20 ) then stopped. started again. then stopped again. the rain intensity grew. Now the -wipers would only work when turned in opposite direction (the manual 1 pass move). this happened as i was trying to get home and stuck bumper to bumper on [XXX] . on this dangerous highway in middle of now a torrential downpour the front wipers now decided it wouldn't work AT ALL. i couldn't see anything and veered off to the shoulder thank god - waiting for rain to stop and then safely proceeded home. the next day the wipers worked. no check engine or anything. this goes on for a week or so with no issue. then out of nowhere the driver seat decides it has a mind of its own and pushes me all the way to the steering column. it wouldn't return when pushing the back button. i had to drive like that for my trip and then it magically went back upon restart. i take to dealer. pump motors bad on front and back. i say not sure your correct and explain. motor changed on front. not fixed. ok we think its the BCM. changed not fixed. finally the PDM was changed and wow it worked. 2 weeks at dealer and this shows that this issue with the control module is certainly risking peoples safety. i hope Jeep does the right thing and prevents a serious catastrophic event. read on the jeep electric issues and my vehicle had a previous "corrected" recall for Electrical Cruise Control. I dont think the fireware updates or software changes fixed all the bugs. be safe out there jeep INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FO

The main screen in the vehicle delaminated and caused quite a number of issues. Heated seats would randomly turn on and off and the temp on gbe seats would not go down, phone would call people over and over including 911, compartment heat would randomly turn on the highest setting and would not turn down, goo like substance came out of screen into the storage compartment below the screen, getting all over items stored. The radio would constantly change stations. All the issues became true safety hazards. I called their 800# and was referred to a dealer who charged me over $1000 with no remorse from Jeep. I am a 25 year owner of jeeps and not too pleased with the lack of response from Jeep. My next car will not be a Jeep!

Uconnect 8.4" infotainment screen is delaminating. This causes the touch screen to randomly press buttons during driving. This can make calls to contacts, or emergency numbers during driving. This can change settings at random during driving like seating heat, radio stations, other vehicles settings such as drive assistant software, turning on and off, blind spot notifications, lane assist, etc. Very distracting for a driver to continue to try and drive while focusing on what just happened or what was just changed. If your phone is connected to the device, it can call 911, or other contacts change volume setting, get stuck to where you can't change them. gain very distract and a safety concern. It is a well know issue with this model. This issue is no longer being fixed by service center or dealer without a 1500-2500$ service fee. This seem like a manufacturing defect and major safety concern while driving.

I just bought this vehicle in February. Since then, about 4 times while driving when i came to a stop the car will not accelerate and the screen tells me to put car in “P” then shift into gear. One time I had to restart the car to put into gear. Then the car drives again.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The infotainment system touchscreen (Uconnect) in my Jeep Grand Cherokee is experiencing delamination and ghost touch issues. The screen randomly activates functions such as adjusting the climate control temperature, changing radio stations, or toggling other system settings without any input. This component is still installed in the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While driving, the infotainment system automatically and unpredictably changes settings due to ghost touches. This includes increasing or decreasing cabin temperature, activating seat heaters or defrosters, and switching media sources, all without driver input. This is a major distraction and forces me to divert my attention from the road to regain control of the system, increasing the risk of an accident. Additionally, sudden temperature changes or screen flashes could startle the driver or affect visibility and focus, especially at night. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the issue has been reproduced and acknowledged by the dealership during service visits. The ghost touch issue was observed in real-time by a technician. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized Jeep dealership. However, the manufacturer has not provided a definitive fix or recall for the issue at the time of this report. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warning lamps or messages. The first symptoms appeared as minor screen glitches and unresponsive touch commands. Over time, the issue escalated to consistent ghost touches and screen delamination

While driving on the expressway, traffic stopped and on the dashboard it said shift to park and the jeep completely turned off. I was in the middle of the expressway so it was scary, I’m glad we were stopped since it was rush hour. The truck turned on right away. I took it to the dealer a couple of days later and they didn’t find the issue. I’m still nervous driving my truck because I’m scared it might happen again

Component Failure: The control screen is going through a process of delamination. It creates "ghost touches" and behaves erratically. Safety at Risk: In one instance the backup camera came on and stayed on randomly, while I was driving forward. Another time it activated the phone and began calling down the contact list. It called, then hung up. Dialed the next person and hung up. And continued through the contact list. People began "returning my call" and it got worse. I was driving on the interstate during heavy traffic and couldn't just pull over anywhere. It was distracting, alarming, and unnerving. It also randomly turns the radio on. It will randomly change heat/ac turning it on/off. Turns the heated/cooled seats on/off. All of the controls in that panel are subject to these ghost touches. It's distracting when driving but also could be dangerous. Dealership Confirmed: The dealership has looked at it, analyzed it, and confirmed the issue. They see it frequently. Jeep customer service is kicks you to the dealer and the dealer kicks you to customer service. No resolution except to pay out of pocket for this manufacturing defect. Warnings or Symptoms: There was no warning that the delamination was going to occur. And it first happened at the end of 2024. My car is a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

My Jeep began having issues with the stability control light coming on. And the my brake lights would come on. and some notification around ABS brakes. Took it to a dealer and they said they couldn't fix it was part of a recall. A couple days later, I received the recall notice. The recall states there is no remedy. I have stopped driving my car because the brake lights come on intermittently and when I park someone where the lights will stay on for a long period of time. Sometimes they go off, sometimes not. The stability control light and check engine light remain on - unknown if the light is just on or if there is an issue. Jeep is offering no remedy other than they tell me to contact the dealer who tells me Jeep has not come up with a remedy. I can't sell the car like this, or trade in without losing money. I have no idea what to do at this point.

UConnect screen delamination is causing "ghost touching" in system. Climate control, phone, music, vehicle controls - including air suspension settings, are all impacted depending on particular event. Some are just annoyance, some are safety concerns. Air suspension height adjustments and off road settings can be controlled in the UConnect screens. THE ONLY way to lock the air suspension for towing or jacking (tire repair, oil change, etc.) is through the UConnect screens. There are 1,000's of complaints about this system issue on Jeep forums, and I was surprised at the lack of NHTSA complaints when I logged in to see the status. I have video's of the system ghosting on several different screens on different dates if you'd like to have them please provide a link to upload or an email to send them too.

Radio screen delaminating and causing ghost touching. Dials unwanted phone calls. Turns the AC on when its negative outside and vice versa during the summer it was turning the heat on. Very distracting and hazardous. I have children in the vehicle and it has been a hazard multiple times.

All-wheel drive is no longer working due to messages stating "service anti-lock brake system," "service air suspension immediately," and check engine light. All lights and cautionary messages came on at the exact same moment while coming out of park over a year ago. I have had the vehicle repaired twice, and the dealership says, "It is a wiring issue," but within a month after being repaired each time, the messages and issues begin happening again.

The radio randomly changes every 5 seconds, the beeping will drive a person insane, blutooth will hang up or not allow me to answer or call out. The UConnect system has started to delaminate, causing a "ghost touch" action where various settings are being changed while driving. This includes constantly making noises as the screen is s being activated, redirecting the navigation system while driving, turning on radio randomly, changing driver and passenger seat settings, turning off defogging/defroster, making phone calls, including 411 or emergency help services, all of this while driving without any external input. It is very distracting and dangerous.

Hello first the vehicle is stock and only has 80k miles. the battery jumper terminals become scorching hot as I got burned by touching them when I inspected the engine area because you can smell a light burn smell. So I have had a mechanic check The vehicles battery and he told me it's getting over charged by the alternator which is is regulated by the internal computer which is extremely pricey to replace. I looked into previous recalls and chrysler had defective parts in Chrysler's recall # U87. I was told by Chrysler my vin was not effected but I feel this is in error as I'm having the exact issue in the mentioned recall.

The touchscreen radio panel is delaminating and causing the system to freak out. Sometimes the radio will turn on by itself and blare out music, or all of the fans will turn on turbo at once. The navigation will freak out and turn off and it will auto-dial or auto-hang up phone calls. Sometimes when I am driving down the high way, the air or radio blasting from out of nowhere and totally unprompted will scare me and cause me to jerk the steering wheel or become significantly distract from the road. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by the dealer, and it is a known defect, but they will not take responsibility for the safety hazard or the cost of replacement. No inspection by any outside parties, yet. No warning signs.. the screen just started to melt/delaminate and then all of the ghost features began causing chaos while driving.

Aug 21, 2024 Fire

I was driving to work with the heated seat on. I began to feel my lower back getting extremely hot. I leaned forward and when I did I could smell something burning and my back began to burn. I quickly pulled over and jumped out of the car as quickly as possibly to see that my seat had physical flame coming from it. I contacted Jeep about the situation and was ultimately told it was somehow not a manufacturing issue. In addition to the seat fire my touch screen has completely delaminated and sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. Making it a safety hazard with the back up camera only showing when screen is operational. The screen also does things on its own. Changing radio stations, blasting radio volume, turning on/off. This is extremely distracting while driving.

Touchscreen has delaminated, causing Jeep to turn vehicle AC, Heat, Radio, Audio systems on and off at random and unable to control. Vehicle has become unsafe to drive.

Jul 29, 2024

The stereo system screen began delaminating approximately 1 year ago. The delamination causes the stereo to malfunction, make sounds, and cause a major distraction when driving. It has come to my knowledge that this is a very frequent issue in the 2018 Grand Cherokees. There were no warning messages, the screen just glitches and completely malfunctions which is making it dangerous to drive and manage simultaneously.

While driving, all the light on the dashboard come on. When this happens the speedometer is not working the windshield wipers come on. The emergency brake light is on, the car shifts out of gear and the turning signals don't work and the hazard lights won't work. This is all happening at the same time. I'm unable to inform people on the road that I'm in distress because my hazard light won't work I don't know how fast or slow I'm going. I can't inform the people on the road that I want to change lanes. Then after a while all the lights on the dashboard would go out and the check engine light would remain on for maybe two days and than go out. This problem has been going on since January I have paid thousands of dollars attempting to get this problem fixed. My car has been back and forth to the same Chrysler central Ave dealership where I purchased my 2018 jeep grand Cherokee to which I'm still paying for.

I think that the voltage regulator that regulates how much power the battery gets is the actual issue. My car was manufactured in October 2017. Why wasn’t it apart of the original recall? I want this fixed. I shouldn’t have had to shell this money out when it’s a manufacturer’s defect.

Misfiring. Can't seem to get the check engine light off. Vehicle is too new to be having these sorts of issues. Diagnostic reader says 3rd cylinder misfire.

May 1, 2024

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine block and head are warped. Radio station keeps jumping to random station when I'm not even touching it. Auto On/Off light goes on intermittently. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This could be a failure and engine lock up had I not taken it in when first troubles came about. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes and I'm told the one dealership has 3 THREE other vehicles the same make and model with the same issue! I've also read on forums that many other people have this affect theirs as well. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Check engine light went on a few times, diagnosis showed multiple misfires in the cylinder. White smoke from the exhaust and vehicle shook and acted like it was going to stall upon starting.

Screen looks delaminated dials random numbers. Uconnedt no longer works nor does the radio makes for an unpleasant ride if I can go back I would’ve just gotten a Toyota Jeep always has problems I’m not the only with this issue and yet they don’t do a recall on this ridiculous

Feb 19, 2024

The alternator is pulling from the battery draining it and at 9.5 volts the car will go into safety mode where it doesn’t turn off but it won’t drive neither which actually happened to me on Saturday in the middle of the street luckily no car hit mines and the police helped me move it out the road. I complained to CArMax Kearny mesa the previous Friday and instead of them putting me in a loaner car and towing the vehicle they scheduled me for an appointment Monday (today) at 9:30am and never held up their end and I’ve been carless ever since and they had my car for 6 months fixing this same problem I’m having today .

The screen is not working properly and is delaminating. This causes a distraction when trying to follow map directions, change heating settings as well as UConnect safety functions. Unsafe and accident causing

Jan 7, 2024

1. My instrument panel screen is completely non-functional due to delaminating / experiencing delamination. It is available for inspection upon request. 2. I can no longer manage the air flow in order to properly defog my windows. I was driving on a highway, the windows were fogging up, and I could not defog my windows. It was incredibly dangerous to myself and the other cars around me as I could not see them. I can also no longer make phone calls through the car as it would randomly hang up or mute the calls. 3. It is a constant problem, and has been rendered permanently disabled. 4. It has been inspected and confirmed by others, yes. 5. The screen started to bubble in one corner (now half of the screen has bubbled), and random places on the screen were being "ghost pressed" causing the instrument panel to behave sporadically and trigger all sorts of random functions. This starting happening about 4 years after purchasing it brand new from the Ramsey, NJ Jeep dealership and has progressively gotten much worse to the point of being completely unusable. Every time while I am driving it performs random actions which are incredibly distracting. Changing the radio stations, skipping songs, making random calls, cancelling / or modifying my GPS directions. It is completely possessed. At this point I leave it off most of the time, but do need to use it for certain features, but it's highly distracting and unsafe at this point.

Dec 15, 2023

My touchscreen is delaminating. I can't use the radio, the Navigation system or interior climate control system. If the radio is turned on, it jumps from station to station, the phone system has called 911 several times, and dials random numbers from my contact list. This is a safety hazard because of the random dialing and distraction it causes. This condition is only happening on this model year. The product is defective and dangerous. I have owned 5 Jeeps in a row and never had this problem with the radio or touch screen.

Dec 9, 2023

The uConnected display screen mal-functions to the point of being a dangerous distraction. Phantom jumping between radio stations, switching from AC to heat etc, changes other controls and will not allow use of touch systems. The screen shows obvious signs of de-lamination. I noted that many others are have the same issue with their uConnect displays. Super dangerous. Dealer' CSR said "Sorry, not their problem. Said it must've gotten wet". Since then I have learned this is a common problem with all Jeeps of this era. Mine is a 2018. Is there anything NHTSA is doing to recall these? It's dangerous and we have stopped driving unless absolutely necessary.

Dec 6, 2023

My UConnect radio has been malfunctioning for a few months now. I've seen this on Jeep forums being a major issue with 2018 jeeps. My radio stations would randomly change while driving. The volume know would stop working, my Navigation stopped working and would place my location in a completely different state. Last week, while driving my UConnect would randomly turn on the AC and then switch to heat and then turn it off, and then switch between modules. The Sunday after Thanksgiving, I was driving my parents to the airport using the GPS on my phone but connecting it to Apple Car Play so that I could still see the navigation on the UConnect Screen. While driving and coming up to multiple lanes in which their were different highways to take, my Uconnect starts going haywire. It was completely nervewracking and was super distracting. My parents were in the car and were very frightened as I wasn't sure which lane I was supposed to be in and where to go. I had to grab my phone, unlcock it and look at my phone. Very dangerous! Then the other night as I was driving on the highway, I had my Front and Rear Defroster on as the weather called for this and all of sudden, the defroster shuts off and the AC (Max AC) comes on at full blast. My front windshield fogged up super quickly. I turned on my wipers and literally starting moving lanes to the right lane as I was frantically pushing the controls to get it back to defrost. I could have died by going off the road as I could not see where I was going or if there were any cars! Thankfully, I rolled down the windows, slowed down and found the breakdown line by hearing the safety strip under my tires. I put on my hazards and prayed. I know I need a new UConnect, but all the dealers want to charge me $170 or more just to diagnose the vehicle. I don't want it diagnosed..I want it fixed. And this should not be my responsibility to fix something that is a huge safety concern. Please contact me ASAP.

Dec 4, 2023

All three brake lights stayed illuminated during car operation regardless of brake pedal pressed. I was able to shift and start my car without pressing the brake putting my family and other pedestrians at risk of being run over if the car shifted out of park unexpectedly. Also no warning lights were on at all, so I drove on the road with my brake lights illuminated increasing risk for injury or death in a crash. It turns out the part is a hydraulic control unit. It was reading 120psi when the pedal wasn’t even pressed. This was replaced by an independent shop and fixed the issue. I found out that there was a recall done on 2011-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokees. This recall was “Equipment Safety Recall 21A NHTSA 23E-019”. This recall calls out this exact problem for our exact model and the exact part replaced. My vehicle did not qualify for this recall for some reason which does not make sense because of the following information. The Julian date range for the failed part is 8166-9106. The part pulled out of my vehicle has a Julian date of 8228. I am more than willing to provide photos and any documentation showing this repairs high cost and that it was done. There needs to be another recall with these cars to include mine and many others as this issue could cause death of unsuspecting people around the vehicle. It’s ridiculous that my vehicle did not qualify for this recall when I have an obviously failed part that FCA knows about but refuses to fix or reimburse me for. Please investigate this and enact a recall to fix a problem that was bad enough to be recalled once for another batch of cars. There are other cars out there that could cause death or serious injury.

Nov 30, 2023

I was just driving down the freeway and out of nowhere. My jeep started calling and hanging up and recalling everybody in my frequently called list. I tried turning off the screen, but it turned itself back on and started doing it again. Everybody who I just called over and over unintentionally. We’re trying to call me back, but it would hang up on them. It was as if a ghost was in my screen. I have not had this looked at by the dealership, but upon researching the issue it appears this is a common problem in the 2018 jeep grand Cherokee. My hands are still shaking from the incident as it was extremely unsafe and distracting. It all startled me so bad I almost drove off the road. It would’ve been one thing if I could’ve just turned it off, but the fact that I kept turning itself back on, is very disconcerting. I tried turning white screen. It was on to the radio, and then it kept changing stations on its own rapidly and repeatedly.

Nov 22, 2023

The monitor/screen is delaminating. This is causing the screen to go haywire. It asks me if I want to adjust my clock setting every couple seconds which makes using the screen for anything else impossible; at times I can't adjust my heat, use the navigation system, etc. This is a known issue per numerous Jeep forums I've visited where hundreds of people are having the same issue with a defective screen on the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees, but Jeep still hasn't done a recall.

Nov 13, 2023

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Radio screen delamination, causing heating/defrost/seats/clock reset/radio channels cycling quickly, lack of navigation on screen. Very distracting when traveling/trying to reach the hospitals. At first it was very distracting while traveling, and didn't allow me to use any features/controls, and could've easily took my eyes off the road and have an accident. I can't use the radio when I need to, for certain situations, not just entertainment but location as I travel with work at times, and my wife and I both frequent hospitals with my heart issues and her lower GI issues. It just started appearing late in July 2023 and you can see something under the radio screen as if its a sticker/protective cover on the radio and it looks like its separating from the inside. I have it going into the shop for diagnosis 11/29/2023 but it is continually getting worse to where I can't use the radio/nav/comfort features at all and need to for our safety/travel, and winter is rapidly approaching.

Nov 10, 2023

There is a known screen delamination issue with the screens on this vehicle. It is a major safety issue since it will be randomly turning on and off devices as you are trying to drive the vehicle. This is a major distraction and there is no way to turn off the system

Nov 7, 2023

The Uconnect screen is delaminating and malfunctioning. I am unable to control what the screen randomly touches which includes controlling the temperature in the car. I am not able to properly set the temperature and direction of the heat to defog my windshield while driving. It creates a hazard while driving when my windows fog up and I can't see while driving on the expressway going 50mph.

Nov 6, 2023

2018 Grand Cherokee....As you are aware of this already, the radio screen started delaminating and now the crystals are leaking out of he bottom of the screen. This in turn causes all the systems to go off and on at random, that can be controlled by the screen. All safety functions are now disabled due to this problem. Several attempts were made to contact the dealership and jeep customer care, only to be told that here is nothing they can do and to buy a new one. They also said there was no guarantee that the new radio wouldn't do the same thing. This is a top of the line high altitude grand cherokee that now doesn't have any of the safety features and comforts that i paid top dollar for. Jeep should honor their quality control issues but have been blowing everyone off. I have been on many forums and they are having the same issue. I got your website from one of the forums and can't believe that is has been a long time since they posted and you couldn't do anything about it so far. Thanks for listening, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Have a 2018 jeep grand Cherokee that audio and, computer control screen is delaminating, causing erratic behavior of the stereo and other random controls like the heated seats turning on and off caused by the delamination of the screen shortly out of the manufacturer warranty of 36,000 miles and I took it to the dealership and they told me it was not covered under warranty and that I would have to pay for a new computer controlled screen I feel this is a safety concern because it can cause distracted driving

Sep 28, 2023

The screen on the UConnect system in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee recently started delaminating. More recently, it has started to randomly change radio stations or make other "phantom" changes while I'm driving without me touching anything. This is clearly a safety issue as it is very distracting while I'm driving. After extensive research online it appears that this is a very common issue with vehicles like mine and Jeep hasn't done anything to help owners get this issue fixed. I keep my car in great shape so there hasn't been any user damage.

Sep 19, 2023

THIS VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE (INTERMITANT PROBLEM) AT TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. THE GEAR SHIFT CONSOLE AND DASH WILL FLASH AND THE VEHICLE IS RENDRED USELESS. I HAVE TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. TEMPORARY FIX. IT KEEPS HAPPENING. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES (DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR OVER A YEAR). NOONE KNOWS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. NO CODES ARE THROWN. JEEP HAS BEEN CONTACTED. SEVERAL FORUMS I HAVE LOOKED AT ONLINE STATE THIS PROBLEM WITH NO RESOLUTION. THE PROBLEM IS SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. WHEN IT LEAVES ME STRANDED IN AN INTERSECTION, WHICH IT DID, I HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM. A RESOLUTION HAS TO BE FOUND. ITS NOT ALLOWING ME TO UPLOAD VIDEO. I DO HAVE VIDEO OF THIS HAPPENING WHICH HAS BEEN SHOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE ADJUSTER OF MY EXTENDED WARRENTY COMPANY.

Infortament system delamination and ghost touching of the Navigation screen could distract drivers which directly related to driving safety.

Sep 14, 2023

The control center of the vehicle (radio) comes on and makes calls and also turns on equipment in the vehicle that distracts the driver from driving. If you power it off it will come back on. It controls your phone and navigation and all climate controls in vehicle. Jeep is aware of the problem but will not do anything to fix it. We tell people not to text and drive and this vechicle does it without you knowing which causes eyes to go off the road. We have already experienced a close call with the distracting of a driver

Sep 4, 2023

Auto start/stop turns car off completely, requiring putting the car in park and manually restarting the car. Causing a possible rear end collision at traffic light.

Aug 31, 2023

The "UCONNECT" touch screen infotainment system is delaminating which causes rapid and continuous "ghost" touches. This is extremely distracting and unnerving. This will occur on any screen. Radio, navigation, climate control, sos, etc. are all affected by this. When this occurs it is very difficult to concentrate on driving due to the rapid succesion of ghost touches.

Aug 30, 2023

The radio screen is de-laminating, causing the radio to go haywire with constant ghost-touching. The radio screen controls most of the car, so besides the non-stop beeping being very distracting, it is giving dangerous commands to my car. It makes unwanted phone calls, including to SOS. It turns on the backup camera when I am on the interstate. It continues to beep when I am in reverse so I cannot hear the beeps from the collision warning system. It turns on the seat warmers when it's already >100 degrees outside. It does not allow me to see the suspension settings and data when I am in 4WD. It turns on Navigation I do not want and does not allow me to use Navigation maps that I need. It turn the radio on full blast while continuously changing stations. I cannot turn off the radio screen and the perpetual chaos it causes because a single ghost touch immediately turns it back on. It is ghost touched approximately every 1-2 seconds. It is very distracting, chaotic, and hazardous to drive with this happening. I paid a Jeep dealer for a Diagnostic test that confirmed the issue is caused by de-lamination. Both Jeep and the dealer refused to replace cover the costs of repair. There were no warnings before the radio screen began de-laminating and the ghost touching started in December 2022. It is has slowly gotten worse each month since then.

Aug 23, 2023

EXTREMELY UNSAFE CONDITION. The lamination on the monitor is peeling/cracking and obscuring the information shown on the electronic read out. For functions such as GPS, this is very dangerous. I spend more valuable seconds trying to read the monitor (eyes off the road) in trying to understand and read the data. Luckily, I haven't had any incidents, but I would guess there have been multiple accidents caused by this very fixable condition in most Jeep's of this vintage. I implore you to initiate a recall ASAP.

Aug 9, 2023

Infotainment center has bubble in screen that causes "ghost presses" on screen. Will change screens and turn on seat heaters and other car functions during driving.

Aug 9, 2023

The computer screen (radio, climate control, back up camera, etc.) The screen has a mind of its own. It will go on and off by itself all the time. It changes the radio stations and climate control by itself. The back up camera will be on and then as we are baking up it goes out, or won't work at all. Its very dangerous and distracting for the driver. In contacting Jeep, they will not cover the cost to repair or replace. We even purchased an extended Certified Added Care Warranty when we purchased the Jeep and they won't cover it either.

Aug 8, 2023

The radio, GPS, back up camera, front brake warning, heat, air conditioning seat warmer continue to cycle through while driver. All systems light up and set off driver warnings. Compass and map shift and change direction. Constant beeping and alerts. Causing driver distractions and Almost crashed and rear-ended on several occasions.

Aug 3, 2023

UCONNECT - touchscreen digitizer is delaminating from screen. Causes phantom touches on the screen, including random calls and changing directions. Rear backup camera is also inaccessible. Very distracting and potentially dangerous.

Jul 31, 2023

The stop/start feature on my Jeep has just stopped working. The battery has been checked and rechecked and replaced. It doesn't work. The biggest problem now is the 8.4 touchscreen display that malfunctions. The GPS is connected to this along with the radio and backup camera. Other features include the phone, climate control, and other functions. The phone will randomly select contacts I am not trying to call, and the GPS will randomly set locations I am not trying to go. The screen will jump from one application to another which is extremely distracting while driving. I've tried turning the screen off completely but this isn't helpful if I'm actually using my navigation. It's dangerous.

Jul 30, 2023

The information center/dashboard radio is malfunctioning in that it switches between stations, apps, randomly calls people, the backup camera no longer shows consistently, or sometimes does not turn on at all. When using maps, it causes a danger as it does not show turns and is constantly changing screens. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This is distracting and makes hands free calling impossible due to the fact that it will hang up, put on hold, or call 911. This is a known problem for 2018 Jeep grand Cherokee. There were no warning signs and the issues started happening out of nowhere. This malfunction poses a big safety threat due to the distractions, and misdirection the system is now causing.

Jul 27, 2023

Screen started to delaminate two years ago. Slowly started glitching. It now glitches constantly while driving. It randomly turns on and off, calls people, turns seat heaters on and off, changes channel, turns back up camera on and off etc. This is a major safety concern while driving. When I researched this online it appears to be a very widespread issue for all 2018 Jeeps. I have also had to replace my headlights 3 times in the last 1 1/2 years. I feel there is a correlation. I don't understand why Jeep is not recalling this issue.

Jul 11, 2023

UConnect Screen delamination - cannot adjust vehicle controls since most are managed through UConnect screen. Dangerous situation. Appears Jeep FCA has an issue with 2018 UConnect screen delamination due to bad adhesive making the screen non functional - Jeep is not responsive

Jul 11, 2023

Auxiliary battery which manages auto start/stop fails. First time battery was tested and replaced under warranty. Failed again two years later - out of warranty. Unsure about risk but depending on who you ask, the failed auxiliary battery can be a parasite to the main battery, leading to potential breakdown. Also misleading fuel consumption numbers due to auto start/stop not functioning

Jul 4, 2023

The radio acts like someone is constantly touching it; I can't access any controls on the touchscreen, which can be dangerous while you are trying to drive. I know I'm not the only person who has this problem.

Jul 4, 2023

Communication screen has delaminated causing ghost touching. While driving the radio randomly changes, the phone will dial, the hvac controls will start switching, etc. without anyone touching the screen. This is distracting and dangerous. At night the screen will change dimness and brightness. I have no control over it and there’s nothing to be done to stop it.

Jun 26, 2023

The navigation display in my jeep is starting to delaminate which is cause ghost touches and the screen will change on its own, mess with settings and it can cause serious safety issues and is distracting to the driver. This should be a recall and not the driver’s responsibility to fix.

Jun 22, 2023

2 Issue Related to Electrical/Lights: 1) The touch screen has delaminated. This started a while ago (appx. 2020) and was only an aesthetic issue until very recently. Appx. 3 months ago (3/2023) the screen started to have a "ghost button" where different things were being pressed. For example, music changed, seat warmers turned on/off, etc. The most dangerous of these issues was a dark screen turning bright, which can be blinding at night. Definitely a safety issue since some of the essential controls of the car are done here. 2) The "auto" high beams have stopped working (appx. 5/2023). They turn on when held with the "flashing" method, but when put into auto (where they stay on) they do not work. Certainly a safety concern.

Jun 17, 2023

My console is controlling itself and its causes risks while driving. The heated seats go by themselves and won’t go off. Causing the inability to drive it in the summer since it’s so hot. It self changes temperature, terrain, media, navigation settings on its own and i can’t stop it. This is a serious issue and a defect in wiring . There should be a recall issued to fix this issue. I’ve read several complaints for this exact issue.

The contact owns a 2018 Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. Upon restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The START/STOP system unavailability warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 45,000.

My radio touchscreen will do things on its own, it will adjust my heating and cooling, my setting, flip from radio, Bluetooth, usb. Call people and just like freak out. And i have no control over it and it wont stop. I have only had my car since February and it also only has 50,000 miles on it

May 30, 2023 Fire

Car caught on fire while engine was off

May 24, 2023

While driving the vehicle it shut off and would not start unless the vehicle was jumped. This happened twice in the middle of the highway, extremely dangerous my children were in the vehicle and other vehicles had to swerve to avoid contact with my vehicle. I took the vehicle back to the dealer that i purchased the vehicle from and they could not figure out the issue. My vehicle is currently with another independent dealer, i changed both batteries, i changed the alternator, checked all of the fuses and checked the relay switches and the vehicle still will not start without a jump and it will only run for a day without needing a jump. No warnings, it just happened.

May 23, 2023

UConnect 8.4 touchscreen just started going crazy like someone was constantly pressing multiple buttons without stopping. Makes it totally unusable. Distracting driver.

May 20, 2023

Communication screen started to delaminate and causes ghost touching. I can be driving along and the radio plays or changes stations, it has dialed contacts, etc. Without me touching the screen. When it happens it requires special attention such as trying to cancel a call being made or turning off the radio.

May 17, 2023

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that she noticed a burning odor while operating the heating system. The contact then stated that she noticed smoke coming through the vent. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that she was concerned for her safety. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where no failure could be determined. The dealer nor the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Mileage: 100,000

May 14, 2023

8.4” unconnect touch screen radio is bubbling. This bubbling causes the touch screen to select randomly. It will change climate control setting, screen settings, turn the radio on, turn seat heaters on, manipulate the navigation system. This becomes a large distraction while on the road and is extremely dangerous. This is a known issue with these radios in several Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler/Ram models. We have taken the vehicle to the dealer and asked for this safety issue to be addressed. They have responded that we are responsible to fix at our own cost.

May 5, 2023

My communication screen started to delaminate and causes ghost touching. I can be driving along and the radio plays or changes stations, it has dialed contacts, etc. without me touching the screen. When it happens it requires special attention such as trying to cancel a call being made or turning off the radio. Online searches seem to indicate this is a common issue with Jeeps and Chrysler products around the model year 2018. Naturally, the car company is hands off but my research suggested informing NHTSA as you may want to monitor how often this happens. Thank you.

May 4, 2023

The uconnect system has been malfunctioning. The uconnect system has all functions for radio, climate control, system functions, Phone, backup camera, gps, etc. the system started randomly making phone calls, switching radio channels, wanting to connect or disconnect devices, displaying the rear view camera and gps screen jumping around giving misleading directions all occurring while driving. We took the car in to see if it can be fixed. Jeep dealer advised a new system was needs at a cost of $1500. Jeep is unwilling to correct the condition without replacing the unit but there is no guaranty the issue won’t reappear. Most recently there was a software push that will not load due the internal system error. Creating another distraction with a recurring error code popping up due to update failure.

May 2, 2023

I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Edition. The laminate is coming away from the radio screen and it keeps showing an "adjust clock message" and "morse code" like beeping. It is a complete distraction. Due to the laminate coming away from the screen the unit starts overriding the driver choices, like the handsfree features, radio, heated seats, etc. This is a safety issue with the car controlling things the driver should be. It's been going on now for a month.

Apr 20, 2023

Control screen is delaminating causing ghost controls and making it impossible to adjust or turn on/off climate controls- AC, heating, dehumidifier… making it UNSAFE to drive. In addition radio stations jump from one to another - a mere distraction in comparison to the climate control problems Please recall !!

Apr 12, 2023

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH and approaching her residence, the vehicle lost electrical power, causing the power steering and brakes to become inoperable. The messages "Service Stability", "Service Transmission" and other unknown messages were displayed. Additionally, the check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road, where she continued driving until the vehicle stopped in front of her residence. The contact stated that the vehicle restarted and operated as needed the following day. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred a week and half later. The vehicle was taken to dealer, where the alternator was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred while returning to her residence. The contact was able to jumpstart the vehicle and drove to her residence; however, the failure reoccurred in front of her residence. The dealer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,524.

Apr 11, 2023

The touch screen on the info-tainment head unit is delaminating which is causing the screen to register touches that did not occur. These "ghost" touches are resulting in the head-unit changing settings, starting navigation without prompt, and making phone calls. The un-prompted phone calls has been particularly distracting as there is no means to hang up and has forced me to the side of the road several times to try and end the call. On occasion, the system has made calls to 911 without me prompting it. These incidents have made driving with the head unit operating un-safe

Apr 8, 2023

Radio does not work properly. The radio jumps around all setting, and makes calls if cellphone is connected.

Apr 3, 2023

Screen de-laminated, causing ghost touching and different radio stations to be selected nonstop, volume to increase/decrease without the ability to manually intervene, called 911 by itself while driving the vehicle.

Mar 31, 2023

Screen delamination of the connect screen has started causing severe ghost touching. Making the system useless and distracting. Unable to use handsfree systems, navigation, radio, or access vehicle settings including the jack mode for the air suspension. On my vehicle it has not been diagnosed by the dealer but this is a known and common issue with this system for 2018 and 2019 and fca\stellantis needs to be forced into a recall for this.

I am the original owner of a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 45,000 miles on it (it is out of the warranty period). About 9 months ago, I notice a portion of the center screen becoming delaminated. Then about 4 months ago, the screen started to act up - ghost pressing certain areas of the screen, without me touching it (automatically turning up the volume, turning on heated seats (in Florida), changing audio sources, changing the gps, etc.). It's extremely distracting when I drive. Last week, it even dialed 911 on its own while I was driving it. I contacted Jeep Cares and was instructed to take it into a dealer for a diagnostic check. They are charging me $190 for this. Even when they find the screen defective, I'm fearful that I will be charged the $1,600-$2,000 to have it replaced. This is a very known issue among Jeep/Chrysler owner - many forums like this (https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/display-screen-starting-to-delaminate.224391/) prove it. Even though I am out of warranty, I feel that this should be recalled and covered at no charge (including the diagnostic check) since it's a major safety issue. The screen was defective to begin with - and after driving it for a few year, the defects were finally known. This needs to replaced ASAP before a severe accident takes place.

There is an electrical failure that causes the blinkers to stop working, shortly after noticing this issue the vehicle will fail to start after travelling to my destination. This has happened more than twice and there are no recalls shown for the "Limited" version of this vehicle. The standard edition seems to have confirmed recalls for the same issues that the Limited version is experiencing. A mechanic has described an electrical short circuit. I encourage looking into the different models of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee in which you'll definitely find the same safety issues described online by many others. These repairs need to be addressed and repaired by the manufacturer. Thank you!

Mar 16, 2023

All features of the radio and heating and cooling system on my vehicle Do not properly work. The heat will switch to air at full blast without touching anything. The radio will switch between channels or stop working. You also cannot touch the screen to toggle. Or just the volume. this is extremely dangerous as it happens out of nowhere as you are driving. It is clear when looking online that this is a common issue. This is extremely dangerous. I have reported this to the dealership but they said they have not seen this issue. This is clearly not the truth since it’s so easy to Google and see numerous reports of the same incident.

SCREEN DELAMINATING, IT IS CAUSING HAVOC ON MY DRIVING WITH THE SCREEN HAVING A MIND OF ITS OWN!

Mar 9, 2023

The UConnect in the vehicle delaminated, which caused a crack on the screen. Due to that, the back up cameras do not work & the controls for most things in the vehicle are unable to be used now because they are all connected via the UConnect.

Mar 9, 2023

The unconnect stop working and the radio went black

Mar 8, 2023

The UConnect radio has delaminated and is available for inspection. Due to the delamination of the UConnect system it will randomly change channels, replace channels, and will skip around to other parts of the system. This issue does not always occur and is random and unkown when it may happen. When the system does this it is a distraction to the driver and could cause a potential incident. This appears to be a known issue with 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Ram pick up trucks based on a google search. There are several threads that discuss the issue and the safety concerns it may cause. There were no warnings of the issue. The delamination has been a slow process and was unaware of the issues that it could cause with changing stations and other items randomly.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while starting the vehicle the PCM warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted, and the dealer stated that the vehicle was previously serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Vehicle Speed Control) and that the contact had to pay out of pocket for all future repairs. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 70,000. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced at the dealer per the recall but is experiencing issues. A warning light keeps appearing even after the vehicle's powertrain control module was reprogrammed.

The vehicle continues to not start. Replaced both batteries (main & auxiliary) in two days later the vehicle would not start without a jump. Checked the alternator and used a voltage meter to test all fuses. Also was placed on a diagnostic machine nothing detected. The vehicle will run for a couple of days with no problems and then will not start. Took the vehicle in for the recall. The dealership fixed the recall and now the antilock brake sensor light is on and the slippery when wet light is on. I have been told by a mechanic that there has been an TSA stating the TIPM is known to be defective. I have been told the TIPM (fuse box or brain) can cost 600-1000 to replace. The vehicle only has 80000 miles on it. This problem should not be a consumer issue when it has been identified as product defect. Please help.

Feb 27, 2023

I have had a problem with the vehicle just shutting down while driving and it seems to have a wiring issue to the oem fuse box which keeps blowing the fuse. I see in 2018 there is a recall on the wiring but when I put my vin in it doesn't show that? I was on the highway and the vehicle shut off while driving and almost got killed with my granddaughter in the back seat when the vehicle behind me swerved into the fast lane and hit a part of the guardrail. I couldn't even put emergency lights on because the power died on every thing

Uconnect System Malfunction/Delamination: EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE: 1. Screen freezes and fails to project image onscreen while backing up. 2. Independent of operator touching screen: --system turns on/off. --increases/decreases volume. --changes stations, and media modes. --navigation frequently freezes during critical intersections. --climate control inaccessible. --randomly dials 911 and other random phone numbers. 3. UConnect fails to turn off even after leaving vehicle. Vehicle is primarily driven by inexperienced 17-yr-old driver. He gets disoriented when back-up camera freezes causing him to stop/park/restart vehicle very possibly in harms way. He has consistently complained about how distracting it is to try to control the system malfunctions while driving. Very often needing to pull over in areas that may not be safe. I have called Jeep Cares, FCA Recall Assistance Center, and visited Dealer Parts Dept and Service Dept. They are aware of but refuse to address the problem in spite of NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE until I pay them non-refundable $195 for them to officially diagnose a known problem and activate my case. I have a video taken in early 2021 (before end of warranty) thats illustrates some of the issues, but could only upload a still image below.

Feb 21, 2023

the uconnect screen is bubbling and de laminateing and causing the display to randomly change to all different screens from radio to heat to clock to navigation constantly changing cannot work the navigation, climate control, or radio or any he controls

Feb 18, 2023

The Uconnect system laminate bubbles and as such, the system has a phantom buttom touch every few seconds. While driving, this results in an audible ding, the navagation no longer is visible, you are unable to use the backup cameras. I have also been in a situation where it turned on the seat and steering wheel heating and I was unable to turn it off. This is a very wide spread issue and is an incredible safety hazard when driving. It effectively makes it not possible to control the electronics of the vehicle while driving. I urge anyone reading this who does not think this is a huge issue to try driving one of these vehicles while this is happening. I used to drive over 20K miles a year with my previous vehicle. This issue started a month after I bought this vehicle from Vroom. As such, I have driven less than 1,200 miles in 18 months. I am incredibly surprised that this has not been recalled yet. I am trying to upload a video of it but it will not let me. This is a MAJOR problem.

Feb 17, 2023

The electrical system per the on-dash guide shows a voltage of 13.8 V or less than the 14.2 V and when it is less than the 14.2 V the car drives choppy, braking causes the car to jolt around even after brake work. The radiator was recently replaced and new hoses were replaced and it still has not been remedied after new brakes and new serpentine belt. The dealer did not clean all remaining radiator fluid that spilled in the bottom of the car, as the radiator had not completely been malfunctioning prior to arrival at dealer. This has probably caused some corrosion due to faulty manufacturing and use of subpar components to where this would become an issue. The air hoses continuously make noise as there is intermittent whirring. The electrical components of the car which I assume are manifested via the voltage regulator cause the adaptive cruise control/ auto stop-start to become 'unavailable' intermittently throughout driving the car. There have been recalls issued for other Jeep Grand Cherokees for the very same issues that my car is experiencing and I want this to be remedied and not at my expense.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the dealer related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Vehicle Speed Control). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,858.

UConnect 8.4 has delaminated at the top of the screen, making it unsafe as the screen now clicks itself. Sometimes it changes the radio station or changes the time setting, or calls people randomly. The navigation system is obsolete because the screen clicks itself and reroutes destination. It is very distracting. It makes the radio and Sirius XM not usable.

Feb 4, 2023

The touchscreen has delaminated causing the radio, navigation, and other features managed through the touchscreen to be unuseable.

Feb 3, 2023

Interactive touch display screen delaminating causing ghost touching leading to functional changes in regards to switching from Heat to AC, switching navigation off and changing functions sporadically leading to distraction and difficulty operating car.

Feb 2, 2023

The display for the radio, navigation and other components is malfunctioning. The radio switches the station without warning and goes back and forth between FM and XM on its own. The navigation screen or a message stating "Do you want to adjust your clock settings?" pops up on the screen and then disappears. It prevents me from being able to adjust any of the settings or control the radio. The most worrying issue is that if the seat warmers are on, you are unable to turn them down or off, causing the seats to become uncomfortably hot. I have not had the vehicle inspected. There was no warning message or other symptoms before these problems became evident. They first appeared 60 days ago and have progressively increased in frequency.

Laminating screen Unable to access handsfree functions could lead to accident inspected by Sandman's, Shelbyville, IN

Jan 24, 2023

For the past month the radio has been changing channels continuously, the volume changes, the seat warmers and heater turn on and off. I researched this and found many others with this problem. It is a safety concern.

Jan 18, 2023

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Front left blinker failed, front right headlight failed, both at the same time. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Both failed and now there is no blinker or headlight to drive safely at night or in inclement weather. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the auto shop confirmed on 1/17/23. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. The failure occurred on 1/14/23, car would not start at all. On 1/15/23 I went back to start it again and it started, tried to drive away and the car shut off on me while driving. The car then began to honk randomly, all the wipers went off, and the lights started flickering. I turned the car off completely and tried ot turn it back on and the car would not start again and also the front left blinker was now completely not working and the front left headlight is completely out. There is a warning on my car for the front left blinker but not for the front right headlight.

October 31, 2022 - Check Engine Light came on. Autozone gave me the P0456 code - Small Leak in Evap System. The check engine light went off a week later. Continued to come on/off for the next 2 months. I was able to finally get an appt on 1/9 and took it into San Diego Jeep Dealership on Camino Del Rio S. They charged $500 for diagnostic even though I had the code already and replaced the Purge Valve & Hose. On 1/14 my car engine would not start at all. On 1/15 my car engine started, I went to drive and within a block my car shut off on me and I coasted to the side of the road while it threw a bunch of different errors including electronic stability warning. I came to a stop and then all of my windshield wipers randomly started going off, my horn randomly started going off, and the lights in my car started flashing. I pressed the push start button to try to turn it all off. I then got the error meesage that my front left headlight was out, it now is, alos my left blinker now doesn't work properly. I tried to start the car again, no luck. I called a tow truck, the tow truck guy was able to get my engine to start. I explained that my car shut off and asked him to follow me for a little while. I got 2 blocks and came to an stop sign where I idled and my car engine shut off on me again. I had my car towed back to the dealership that did the work. On 1/16 they told me it would be $700 for an electrical diagnostic. I did not have any major problems or warnings before taking it to the dealership.

Jan 12, 2023

One year after I purchased my Jeep the screen starting delaminating. This created “phantoms touching” It started out small but eventually became to where the Jeep was not fuctional. Including not being able to adjust temperature to defrost or defog my windshield. This is an extreme safety hazard with no work around. The screen overrides anything I do with the physical buttons below it. The screen turns back on even when I try to turn it off. This is especially a problem because I live in the Midwest with plenty of ice & snow. It’s incredible that I have not caused an accident yet. I have made plenty of phone calls to Jeep who refuse to recall the screen even though they have admitted it is a known problem with the screen itself. Not only is it a safety issue but I cannot access several of the main functions.

Jan 5, 2023

My Jeep started skipping through screens on the display randomly in August 2022, but since has increasingly doing it nearly everyday now. There is a visible big “drip” look on the screen in the top right corner. The screen now will call contacts on my phone and has also activated the SOS calls 4-5 times. I have to drive without connecting my phone to stop the inadvertent calls but the screens continue to flip through on its own. This is very frustrating and distracting while driving and the obnoxious ding it makes with each switch. The seat warmers flipping on constantly is also very distracting when the high setting is hot enough to make me hop to prevent injury and pain.

Dec 27, 2022

The infotainment screen started acting crazy and makes it difficult or impossible to operate the vehicle when misbehaving. The screen will lock up and not respond to any touch control. Powering the vehicle off and on at a traffic light does not fix the issue. Of course, this means I cannot operate the HVAC, navigation nor any other controls requiring the touch screen. The system will also switch on its own into different modes and selections... radio, seat and steering wheel heaters, volume, etc. The problem is frequent and persistent. The screen has also delaminated and is becoming harder to see/read. The malfunctioning of the screen is a big driver distraction taking away from attention on driving. Not being able to turn off or on the seat warmers nor the HVAC when malfunctioning causes discomfort and distraction. I have reached out to Jeep customer care but have not made contact with them yet.

Dec 27, 2022

For my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee: the UConnect touchscreen which controls everything from the parking assist functions to navigation to climate is delaminating. As a result of the delaminating screen, the screen will malfunction while driving the vehicle causing it 1) become permanently "stuck" on the rear back up camera/parking assist mode or 2) override driver selections and prompt the driver to select/deselect other functions unrelated to driving causing dangerous distractions and impacting our ability to use the car and system safely.

Dec 26, 2022

This concerns the malfunction of 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Uconnect 4C NAV with 8.4-Inch Display UAV Radio. The dealer removed the radio and inspected the problem. The touch screen bubbled/delaminated and the adhesive must of warmed up from the radio use and dripped down to the bottom of the radio affecting other components. The radio will change stations on it's own, navigation won't work. If i have my cell phone on it will make random calls and it will activate the SOS call. That happened 3 times and 2 times i was driving on the highway. That did take my attention away from driving. Now i have to make sure my phone is off when driving. I didn't renew my Uconnect subscription so i didn't get in trouble for that. My chrysler factory warranty denied a replacement. They told me the dealer said something about it was an outside influence (a sticky liquid inside) caused the radio problem that made the radio act that way so it's not covered. Giving you an approximate date is hard to do. It happens a lot. The date i put is when it started to really act up

Dec 26, 2022

Car radio gets stuck on screen that says "do you want to adjust the clock" . You cannot get into any of the apps that change the braking system or change the heat settings (like defrost) It just jumps back to do you want to adjust the clock. Sometimes the screen just goes off completely. Looks like the screen is delaminating. You can see the bubble underneath.

Dec 20, 2022

The Uconnect system has been delaminating for a while now. As such, there is "ghost pressing" of buttons on the screen. This, while driving, renders many important components of the vehicle unusable. There is a loud ding, then the reverse cameras go out if using them. Navigation ceases to work. Heating, cooling are also affected. I had not given much thought to how bad of a safety hazard this was until it started up on a 3 hour drive. The distractions of having most electric components go haywire while on the road is quite incredible. This is a well known issue so I am dumbfounded that it has not been recalled. I have had 3 quotes on the vehicle and all say that the unit needs to be replaced. Uconnect will not assist and Jeep wants full price for a fix. As such, I have drove my vehicle 1-2K in 15+ months as it is completely unsafe.

Dec 16, 2022

The infotainment system screen keeps changing and asking if I want to reset the clock. It also turns on the heated seat and steering wheel heat and blower motor requiring constant attention to the screen to try to turn things off and causing constant distraction from driving.

Dec 12, 2022

Infotainment screen has slowly been delaminating. Today, the screen began receiving phantom commands. I do not touch the screen, but the screen acts as though I am constantly touching it in random places. The radio, defrost, maps, backup camera, etc. turn on and off. It has made my car unsafe to drive because I can't keep my windshield defrosted, I can't use the navigation feature, I can't properly use the rear camera in reverse, and there is persistent beeping from the screen mistakenly sensing that I am touching it.

Dec 8, 2022

The UConnect screen is delaminating which is causing the touchscreen to malfunction. This is causing the navigation system, radio, seating controls, and climate control to be inoperable for spans of time. I have already had several occasions where this has caused unsafe driving conditions.

Nov 28, 2022

Touchscreen display bubbling, delamination, malfunctioning during use, including during back up camera usage/display, navigation display, climate control malfunction. Touchscreen malfunction including functions turning on and off by themselves, system has life of its own. Display continues to show back up camera display even when driving forward commences (see photo). Safety issues/Symptoms include radio changing volumes to extreme levels my itself during driving, back up camera while in use disappearing and screen going blue, navigation system while in use changing to other functions without user input.

Nov 28, 2022

While car is driving, the infotainment system which controls heating/air conditioning, NAV, radio, etc. will start to flash, make noises on its own, play the radio and the stations switch on their own. It is extremely dangerous and distracting while trying to drive the car. The only way to stop is to turn it off but then you have no access to a navigation system which presents its own dangers. Without proper heating in the winter months or cooling in the summer months, the car can be dangerously cold or dangerously heated, especially dangerous when driving around young children or my elderly parents. When I contacted the dealer about it, they reported they have heard of this happening, that there is no recall despite the inherent dangers and that it would cost over one thousand to repair. It has not been inspected by any manufacturer, police, insurance rep or others as it has only been occuring for a couple months and I was hoping if I reset the system, it would stop. There have been no warning signals that this is occuring. When I decided to do an internet search, I found that thousands of 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees are having this issue, that it's been widely reported to NHTSA and that Jeep has not issued a recall, despite the dangerous driving of a vehicle such as this.

Nov 19, 2022

there's is a problem with the Touch Screen where a message keeps popping up and after a period of time this causes the Touch Screen to be unusable (can't use Navigation, Radio, Hands Free Calling etc.). after doing research online it appears this is a known problem and is the result of a flaw in the Manufacturer's (LG) process (delamination of adhesive between Screen and Digitial Touch Component). As a side note, I mentioned this when I brought my Jeep into the Dealership for service and they confirmed they were aware of it (their solution is to charge me $2,145 to replace the Radio...the Radio isn't the problem, it's the Touch Screen that has the issue).

Nov 14, 2022

The 8.4 touch screen is delaminating causing the whole screen area to randomly turn things on and off on its own. Changing certain settings while driving. Safety settings are being affected as well as the touch screen controls almost everything. The defective touch screen is causing a distraction while driving. Contacted jeep they are aware of the issues but no one wants to take responsibility to fix it.

Nov 14, 2022

The control screen of my jeep is 'delaminating'. This is apparently quite a known issue to the manufacturer, however they wont do anything to address it. When the screen starts reacting to phantom touches, not only can I not control anything in the car, it is very distracting to the driver to put it mildly. I have also read that as the glue melts, it leaks onto the wiring of all the components under the screen including the AC, all the parking sensor and traction control off controls.

Nov 14, 2022

The infotainment system (radio) has been delaminating and has ghost touches. It stops to work at any moment causing a safety issue. Reverse camera stops working and the ghost touches are very distracting while driving.

Nov 11, 2022

Touch screen is delaminating and has ghost touch causing random unintentional functions to be selected and others to be obscured. Heated seats come on and won't turn off. Phone calls are made on their own. Repeated screen messages from ghost touch selections obstruct use of screen for intended purposes which include most vehicle controls. It presents a serious driving distraction. I consider this a safety issue. It is a known defective part for which Jeep has a replacement but won't offer the replacement at no cost out of warranty. Cost is approximately $1,000.

Nov 10, 2022 Crash

The contact owned a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while at a complete stop at the traffic light, with the START/STOP mode engaged, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The air bags deployed. The contact stated that the forward collision automatic braking system failed to engage. The contact sustained back pain. The contact also sustained trauma and had been seeking assistance from a therapist. The occupant of the other vehicle did not sustain injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was totaled. The contacted related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V426000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

Nov 8, 2022

Top right corner of touch screen started delaminating about a year ago. But nothing happened, it was just cosmetic. Until now, it causes the screen to change on its own. It will call people, change the radio station, flicker the map and end the directions, turn on my seat heaters. It is very distracting while driving which is dangerous and puts my safety at risk. This is a very known and common issue by Jeep, but out of warranty they just charge you $1000+ to replace it.

Nov 4, 2022

Uconnect infotainment screen is delaminating causing the unit to select random buttons on its own. on a cool morning I was driving to work when the screen started randomly changing the climate controls blasting full heat directly on my windshield causing it to fog up and impaired my visibility. The unit then started calling 911, turning radio channels on and adjusting the volume. This was extremely distracting and I had no control over the functions of my vehicle. Uconnect is aware of this very common issue and refuses to offer a solution. No warning, only visible defect of the delamination was present prior to the unit randomly changing functions on its own.

Nov 4, 2022

I own a jeep grand Cherokee summit (2018), and the central control unit is delaminating, which in turn causes touch screen sensitivity issues. The trouble is that this unit is the central nervous system of the car. It controls hvac, camera, radio, car settings, etc… and having a car pressing its own buttons and self-changing car settings while driving is a MAJOR safety concern. Jeep has been unhelpful for myself and for vehicle owners of Jeep, Ram, etc… cars which all suffer from the same manufacturer defect. The manufacturer admittedly says the units are universally a problem, and have goodwill fixed some for people out of warranty, but refuses to help most people — thereby forcing the consumer to spend ~$1500 installing a new computer. Please help.

Oct 30, 2022

Touch Screen De-laminiation. Entertainment system started having ghost clicks without being touched while driving at highway speeds. Started making phone calls, changing radio stations, turning HVAC on and off, depending on which screen I was on. Could not turn off screen because the phantom touches would just turn it back on again.

Oct 24, 2022

The Uconnect screen is delaminating and causing the screen to be completely useless. It calls people randomly and does not allow you to call 911 in an emergency. It also renders GPS useless. This is a known problem in this vehicle and it needs to needs to be taking care of! It is a safety hazard when the screen is going bazerk and you are driving! It is extremely distracting and you cannot use 90% of the functionality of your dash!

Oct 21, 2022

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the traction control warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle would start and shift out of park without depressing the brake pedal. The brake warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the adaptive cruise control mode and the automatic Start/Stop feature were no longer operative. The contact received notification NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V426000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that service brake hydraulic system had failed. The vehicle was then taken to a second dealer, Bryden Jeep Ram Dodge Chrysler - Bryden Motors (548 Broad St, Beloit, WI 53511) who provided the same diagnostic result and advised the contact to not drive the vehicle as it was unsafe. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights would illuminate while driving the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The screen in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee is bubbling up. It seems that the screen is delaminating. Because of the delamination, the screen thinks that I am touching it. My radio station will change, the clock settings keep coming up and disappearing, and the top portion of the screen where it has delaminated does not work at all. When I touch the screen, it does not work. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I am concerned that the electrical will fail and cause my car to lock up. My safety is put as risk with the chance that the screen fails and causes an electrical issue. This also puts everyone else at danger if the car malfunctions and I lose control on the roadway. I called the dealership and they stated that this is a known problem in the model and year of my Jeep. There was no warning that this problem was going to occur.

Oct 16, 2022

The screens on the 2018 and later Jeep Grand Cherokees are delaminating and changing settings in the vehicle automatically. This cause issues on setting controlled by the screen, and leads to distraction on the road. There are numerous reports of this incident occurring (simple google it), and should have been a part recall by the NHTSA or Jeep.

Oct 14, 2022

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the infotainment screen independently performed random features without warning. The failure affected the climate control features including the defroster. The contact called several unknown dealers and was informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The contact also contacted the manufacturer to file a complaint but was denied. The contact was also informed that the vehicle would be covered under warranty if he was the original owner. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

The main LCD screen for the car that controls, climate, radio, Bluetooth, navigation etc. has started delaminating. The delaminating has caused the screen to behave as though possessed. Car will make calls from contacts and drop calls, make SOS calls to 911, change radio stations, change climate settings, turn on seat heaters, randomly usurp the navigation system when being used to name just a few behaviors. I have observed most systems controlled from the screen to be victim of this delaminating. It is incredibly dangerous when the screen acts up while driving, distracting the driver while moving. Many of the actions require immediate attention which distract driver from the road. It started several months ago only occasionally but has recently advanced where the disruptions are constant. The dealers and manufacturer are well aware of the issue but the cost to repair is upwards of $2000 which is a barrier for many vehicle owners. The problem started after noticing a small bubbles in the screen and has progressively gotten worse.

Oct 5, 2022

The vehicle's UConnect screen has delaminated. The result is a "ghost finger" touching the screen in random places every few seconds. This causes: The heat and fan to crank up to maximum; the heated seats to come on high; or Bluetooth to drop off; radio to switch between functions; navigation system will begin tracking in random directions. This is extremely distracting while driving and requires my attention to remedy which is a significant safety concern. Safety issue is averrable for inspection. Dealer has visually inspected the issue and verbally confirmed the delimitation is the case of the issue. no one else has inspected the issue. This issue began a year ago, around 30k miles, and has continued to get worse. Vehicle is at 37k miles now.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the center display would turn off intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated while reversing, the rear camera would fail to turn on intermittently. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.

8.4 infotainment display delaminated across the top third of the screen, rendering the screen unusable while the vehicle was at highway speed. Repeated uncommanded prompts to reset the clock created a significant driver distraction, placing the occupants of the vehicle at risk. This problem has been widely reported by thousands of Jeep owners and owners of other Stellantis vehicles.

For the last month of more, the infosystem would asked "Do you want to adjust your clock setting?". If you say no takes you back to the same screen if you say yes it let you update it but then goes back to the same screen and keeps on blinking and making sounds (causing an audible driving hazard). It would go away only to come back the next time you drive. Now today it is changing stations would out me touching the screen and now when i turn on the radio the volume is set to max (almost caused an accident this morning when it cranked to max while driving). Checked it it appears my uconnect system is up to date so not sure what else i could do. Dealer will look it at for $150 bucks!!!

Ghost touch in the radio display, crazy touching, the Uconnect almost caused an accident while driving on the interstate when it started making phone calls and would not let me hang up. I could not even get into the settings to tell it to disconnect from my phone.

Sep 22, 2022

While driving the radio system began having glitches where it would say it was calling or texting on its own. We would reset the radio and it would seem to correct itself and start working again. A few weeks later the issue became worse. The electronic system really began to malfunction. The car would call SOS several times in a row, typically they would not go through and would eventually end, a few times they did make it through and we had to have the operator end the call, the radio nor the button on the rear view mirror would allow us to end the call. The radio would transfer stations on its own, it would start calling and texting on its own, the seat heaters started turning on and off on their own and the rear view camera started to flash onto the screen all on its own as well. Essentially the electronic system within the vehicle went absolutely crazy on its own and did not respond to any of our efforts to stop it. It was very distracting and extremely unsafe, as we were driving down the interstate in a construction zone that has numerous vehicle accidents each week. Did I mention that I had my wife and 18 month old twins in the vehicle when it happened?!? So we took it to the dealership, just outside of our extended warranty now, to have a dealer giggle and simply tell us its a KNOWN issue, but it would be $165 dollars to diagnose. After running the diagnostic we were informed the vehicle needed a software update, but were still charged the $165. The software update did not fix the issue, the radio is still possessed, and we were quoted as parts costing 1500 dollars and labor taking it up to over 2000. The vehicle has just over 85,000 miles. I'm hoping customer care will help fix this issue, given the shear numbers of reports. Do have video of incident as well.

Uconnect screen with radio/nav/driver controls is delaminating, causing screens to change and overriding all driver selections. It creates serious safety issues when the unit overrides driver choices, and is also distracting as the unit beeps and switches back and forth among options.

I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. I am the original owner and I am having issues with my screen backup screen bubbling. Also, it changes the heat all the way up or down and keeps moving, it changes the radio station, it makes calls on my phone without me dialing. Very distracting while driving. So I just shut it off and then when I make a call on my cell it comes back on and starts it all over again. Kinda like the car is possessed. I did contact Chrysler Care line at 1-800-992-1997. They asked me for my VIN number and had me verify my address. They did open a case number for me and I am supposed to take to a dealer and get it evaluated and then call them back. I did notice online a lot of other people having the same issue.

Touch screen is delaminating which does not allow you to access operating functions. The screen has ghost touch's which it does all on its own. The ghosting changes screen functions continuously. Annoying and a safety hazard.

Sep 13, 2022

My radio console is starting to delaminate causing my console to constantly be jumping around and unable to use. Jeep dealership is aware of the problem. It poses as a threat for daily driving to hands free options as well as unable to use my navigation features, climate settings and most anything dealing with the touchscreen. This issue needs to be recalled or fixed.

Sep 10, 2022

The speed control malfunctioned. the vehicle was in drive not moving when it started accelerating on its own. This malfunction could cause serious injury or death . There was no indication of a problem prior to the failure. I shifted to park and shut off the engine.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the infotainment screen had started to delaminate. Due to the failure, various infotainment screen features would perform random functions independently while the vehicle was in operation. The contact stated that the defect was distracting while driving. The manufacturer of the infotainment screen was notified of the failure and informed him that the cost of the repair would only be covered for original vehicle owner. The contact stated that he was not the original owner of the vehicle; therefore, he did not qualify for the repair. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

UConnect stereo face is delaminating which started about 20 months ago ( when Covid caused labor shortages and very long waits to get to a dealer) and is getting worse. This is causing the stereo to change stations, make outgoing phone calls, hanging up on calls, disconnecting the phone, powering itself on and off, loss of Navigation, not to mention the loss of heated seats and steering wheel. I tried calling FCA and the woman (Wendy) was just not wanting to hear anything other than to tell me to take it to a dealer. RUDE !! She refused to transfer me to her supervisor... This is a VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE with this stereo. My wife is the driver of this vehicle and I do not want her in an unsafe condition. Of course a Dealer wants the vehicle for an entire day instead of taking 15 seconds to walk out and look at the display and verify that it is in fact the KNOWN ISSUE and then order the stereo and make yet another appointment maybe months later with the parts shortages everywhere, leaving my wife to continue driving the vehicle in the unsafe condition. PLEASE issue a RECALL for this KNOWN problem... Thank You.

U-Connect 8.4 screen has delaminted causing functions such as navigation, radio, back up, telephone to constantly change while driving. The screen keeps changing while driving which is a risk during driving since we need such apps as navigation to drive. This causes us to constantly take our eyes off the road and fix the screen. This happen as often as 40 times per minute. Extremely dangerous and distracting. My Jeep is a 2018 an the delamination started at about 35,000 with no issues other than delamination. At about 42,000 mile the delamination is more severe and very dangerous and distracting to the driver. Now my vehicle has 42,800 miles and I cannot drive it fearing an accident. I called the dealer they said it is out of warranty. This is a common problem I have researched with Jeep U connect 8.4 screens for 2017 & 2018 model years I have a video of this happening and it's scary. I am no longer driving my car until I can have it fixed

Infotainment, HVAC car control screen de-lamination. Screen bubbling up and randomly selecting functions that are not user selected. Like ghost button presses randomly while driving the car.

Aug 12, 2022

The screen on the car’s infotainment system is delaminating and I cannot use the touch screen in the delaminated areas. This is preventing hands-free capabilities while driving since touch is the only way to navigate the system and posing a safety hazard. It is preventing access to the federally mandated backup camera and vehicle controls. The touch screen will sometimes “ghost touch” options without the user touching the screen, causing the system to randomly turn on the radio, make calls, activate climate control, and more. It is progressively getting worse and is present in many other 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees. It is a manufacturing defect causing distractions while driving and should be recalled.

Aug 6, 2022

My pre-owned 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 Trailhawk is unsafe and unreliable because the vehicle ** would not start ** on three occasions within 18 months of ownership. Also, the "auto start" feature on the key fob works intermittently. Thankfully, I was in safe locations when the problems occurred, but two of those locations were in public, away from home. Also, the dashboard has indicator lights that come on randomly such as engine or start/stop or "check air suspension" or check ABS. The dealer has not been able to find or diagnose the problem, yet I keep paying out of pocket fees. My problems would occur with no warning, so there would be no time to get help. I contacted Chrysler on 8/8/22 and they were no help; they just directed me back to a dealer to pay another out-of-pocket diagnostic fee. They expressed no concern for my safety, did not acknowledge my frustration, and said a supervisor was not available to speak to me. All recall work was completed prior to my owning the vehicle. I do not trust my own vehicle and I need to travel frequently through desolate and arduous terrain. I am likely going to get rid of the vehicle because (1) I don't trust Chrysler or government systems to help me in the timeframe that I need help, (2) I need to do my job and have a peace of mind, and (3) I need to know that I and my family will be safe.

The radio goes in and out and the wipers do not clean the glass streak

Aug 4, 2022

My mileage is less than 36,000 and the radio is delaminating and it’s causing random buttons to be pushed. I’m not able to turn the screen off because with the “ghost button pushing” it just turns back on. It make multiple unwanted phone calls at any given time. I work in emergency dispatch and therefore my recents are going to be my job and it’s ghost dialing, possibly causing actual emergencies to be unanswered because of my call. Cargo temperature can fluctuate from the ghost button pushing. Random things going on and because Jeep is refusing to replace, out of pocket close to $2000.00. Come on Jeep, fix an ongoing problem with your product.

Aug 3, 2022

Radio screen is becoming delaminated. The radio screen will now just randomly select anything on the screen without me touching it. It has tried calling 911, it will turn my heated seats on during the summer, it will go on the navigation screen and keep selecting a new location to the point that it zooms out so far that s globe is shown on the screen and the globe just spins as the screen keeps selecting random locations all over the world. All while I’m driving. It is extremely distracting. I am unable to turn my screen off so I don’t have to see this occur out of the corner of my eye while I drive to work, but it just automatically turns my screen back on. My vehicle is only 4 years old and under 45,000, but my radio is completely junked and is becoming a huge distraction as I’m driving. The dealership I purchased my jeep from told me this is not the first instance they have heard of this, but the other vehicles had still been under their warranty period so they did not have to file a complaint.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the radio and A/C would activate independently. The check engine and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The contact's husband replaced the auxiliary battery. While driving, the vehicle stalled but did not turn off. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was next towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery and radio needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 33,273.

There is an ongoing malfunction with the infotainment screen. While driving, it causes the heated seats to turn on, the heat to turn on and increase to hot, the radio to change stations randomly every 3-5 seconds, the placing of phone calls people randomly & repeatedly, the navigation to repeatedly leave the map so that it doesn't work, and the backup camera to come on and stay on while driving forward. All these things are extremely distracting while driving causing it to be very dangerous, especially on the highway or when many other cars are present. The problem has been reproduced at the dealer. They tried to update the software for the infotainment system, but this did not fix the problem. Also, the screen is delaminating which could be a part of the problem. The problem has not been confirmed by police, insurance reps, or manufacturer. There were no warning lamps/messages prior to the failure. The incidents first began about 9 months or more ago.

Jul 28, 2022

The Uconnect control screen is delaminating and creating random distractions. Examples, changing volume, random calls, screen changing on its own, etc. It is very startling when you are driving and screen randomly changes or volume blares or blower suddenly turns on. Dealership confirmed delaminating but will not cover the repair because 3 year warranty expired. Only 9,000 miles on vehicle. Jeep knows they put faulty components in their vehicles and are unwilling to take responsibility. Screen started to delaminate over a year ago and dealership said not to worry about it. Now the delaminating has gotten far worse and random crazy things happen unexpectedly while driving. Now I’m told to fix Jeeps manufacturers defect, I have to pay over $2000 out of pocket. This should be unacceptable to allow Jeep to do this. I’m afraid to let my wife drive the vehicle because when it acts up, it will scare you and possibly cause you to react badly and could cause an accident

Jul 26, 2022

Infotainment screen started Delaminating for no apparant reason causing "touches" to places on the screen. These "touches" change the radio, make unwanted phone calls, turn on heated seats, mess with the clock, etc. and most importantly cause hands free phone options to not work making it unsafe or the driver. Forums from Dodge and Jeep prove to show that this is a major recurring issue on 2018 Jeep/Ram vehicles.

Jul 26, 2022

Infotainment system has multifocal ghost-touch inputs. The screen will randomly start activating car systems (calls, directions, change temp etc.) through the center console touch-screen. It is as if the screen has a mind of its own. The center console with pick a point and constantly push that point over and over again until you stop and turn off the car for several hours. You cannot disable it and it is a danger while driving. (This has happened at least 2 dozen times)

Jul 25, 2022

The UConnect touch screen is delaminating and causing the radio to “ghost touch” things on its own. For example, while I am driving it will call random people, turn on the heated seat, change radio stations, redirect the map, turn up the heat in the summer time, etc. This is a major safety concern as it causes huge distractions while driving. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common issue among Jeep owners.

Jul 14, 2022

The display monitor at the front dash is delaminating and has progressively gotten worse. You could see a clear line where there was a start of separation in the screen, that has spread to a large portion of the screen. This causes the screen to apply pressure against itself, pressing buttons on its own and taking actions not wanted by the driver. I’ve had it close out GPS while driving through a busy city. It has called 911 when I had my phone connected. It has turned the heated seats on and off and adjusted the air settings. I cannot use hands free options. This is a major distraction while driving and you cannot even turn the monitor off due to it turning itself back on. This is a safety hazard and a quick google search will show that this is a common problem!

Jul 12, 2022

Infotainment screen turning itself on and changing displays without interaction distracting the driver. Jeep says there is no safety recall so they are unable to do anything to help without requiring me to purchase a full new radio unit for nearly $2000.

Jul 11, 2022

Infotainment center touch screen randomly switching screens distracting the driver, and making it difficult to access controls for the safety features in the settings due to random phantom clicks on the screen.

Jul 10, 2022

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - Main infotainment screen. Yes, it’s available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - The screen is delaminating at the top left corner and moving across the screen. Eventually it will prevent me from using the touch technology on the screen appropriately, not allow me to visibly see the backup camera, and activate features I didn’t select. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - I told the dealer when I was there and they said my only option was to replace the whole unit out of pocket. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - No.

8.4 inch screen in jeep is ghost touching buttons switching from different settings automatically. Screen will turn on and off different features automatically to include back up camera, climate control, radio and Bluetooth. This is a safety concern because it requires me to constantly turn on and off settings that it is automatically switching between. I have yet to take the vehicle into a dealer but have talked to the dealer and jeep customer service and they are aware of the issue due to its frequency. The vehicle has not been inspected yet but problem is common and dealer and manufacturer are aware of the issue from the many different cars with the problem. Prior to the screen automatically activating different features the screen had began to delaminate.

Touchscreen is delaminating on the Uconnect system.

Jul 5, 2022

The entertainment center screen is becoming delaminated and has randomly activates a touch, causing the screen to switch rapidly through different menus without anyone physically touching it. This causes a severe distraction when driving and renders the screen unusable (which is not just entertainment, but also contains navigation, climate control, hands-free information, etc).

Jun 29, 2022 Crash

The UConnect display on my vehicle is phantom pressing buttons, going to different screens, turning things on and off as I drive. Yesterday, I was put in a EXTREMELY unsafe situation with my vehicle where the UConnect screen turned off my blind spot detection. I was unaware until I attempted to merge into another lane and hit another car!!! I called UConnect and Jeep and they told me they won’t do anything because I’m not the first owner of the car and that it can’t be replaced but for 1,000 of dollars. I feel like this should be repaired by Courtesy because this is a safety issue.

Jun 28, 2022

The screen on the infotainment system starts starts clicking randomly by itself, causing a huge distraction while driving. It started three years into ownership of the vehicle, which I purchased brand new, when I noticed a bubble and occasionally would click random buttons by itself. The bubble is now bigger and the random clicks happen 100% of the time as soon as the car is turned on. It will randomly call people, or change my location while using the navigation, which I have to click the relocate button. This will go on forever until I turn off the screen, therefore I have to use my phone. There are plenty of complaints from other Jeep users with the same issue. The cause is the screen adhesive delaminates. This is a huge safety issue that needs to get fix asap. Unfortunately, Jeep charges a lot of money to replace a defective unit.

My 2018 jeep grand cherokee stirling. My radio screen is changing songs/station and calling people on its own. infotainment issue.

Jun 21, 2022

Screen first started delaminating after 2 years / 18000 miles, but remained functioning so didn't act at the time. This week (3.5 years / 31000 m) while on a roadtrip the touch screen started randomly 'pushing' options on the screen. It started heating the seats, dialled 911 and started changing the navigation, all while I was on the highway with no way to exit. Had to make an emergency stop alongside the highway where it was not safe to stop but could not disable the screen or stop it from dialing random phone numbers. Had to break off my vacation and turn back home. Car is now in the shop (Jeep Kearny Mesa San Diego) for diagnosis. Service specialist tells me it could be a 3000 dollar repair out of pocket. I bought this car new at this dealership, but if this is not covered I'll not buy FCA again.

The radio/phone/climate control display is de-laminating, and I'm starting to get "ghost" presses which can accidentally make phone calls, adjust the climate control, etc. This can cause distracted driving. This is being reported widely online and dealerships are aware of the issue. https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/display-screen-starting-to-delaminate.224391/ https://www.jeepforum.com/threads/uconnect-delaminating.4439701/

Jun 17, 2022

My Jeep Grand Cherokee (2018) Unlimited has a screen delamination issue where underneath the LCD screen there's a liquid leaks out causing phantom touches on the screen resulting in various apps and settings get opened and changed. This seriously caused safety issues as the settings get changed and distract the driver. Random phone calls would be placed, map settings would change and redirect. I have researched on various Jeep forums and there are also multiple cases of Jeep owners who encounter similar issues. This is a safety concern and Jeep should issue a recall to fix the issue. I also believe this is an issue across multiple products from FCA. Here are the links to issues being reported by Jeep Owners: https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/display-screen-starting-to-delaminate.224391/page-11#post-2021336035 https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/radio-screen.236450/#post-2021335380 https://digitizerdepot.com/blogs/posts/delamination-and-bubbling-peeling-of-8-4-uconnect-touch-screen-is-a-major-problem-on-chrysler-dodge-jeep-and-ram-vehicles https://www.jeepforum.com/threads/uconnect-delaminating.4439701/ https://www.ramforum.com/threads/8-4-uconnect-touch-screen-delaminating.162663/ Thank you for your reading and understanding. This is frustrating as Jeep ignores such a widespread issues, especially this is a safety concern. Joe

While driving on highway climate control temperature kept switching, and would not allow me to put defroster on making visibility increasingly difficult. Also the vehicles screen will randomly display the backup camera while driving at high speeds. This is all due to a known lamination issue with this model jeep.

Jun 6, 2022

About a week ago my screen started pushing/clicking/changing screens by itself. The screen is going crazy, switching calls, randomly calling people, scrolling through contacts, pushing buttons all over the place, changing songs, turning seat warmers off and on. I took this to my dealership and they confirmed it was a defect in the radio and to replace it would cost me over $1,000. After more research it turns out there are many other people with this same problem for the 2018 model jeeps. This is a serious safety concern as you're trying to drive down the road and can't pay attention because all sorts of buttons are randomly being pushed and the screen is going crazy back and forth to other screens. I would hope that Jeep would correct this issue at their expense as it is a defect on their end and causing serious safety concerns to not just me but other drivers with the same issue.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the engine was overheating. Additionally, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was notified of a failure with cylinder #5. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle operated as needed; however, the sensor software update failed to perform as needed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.

The Uconnect system is malfunctioning. This seems to be a manufacturing defect, which is known to be quite common in Chrysler vehicles. The problem causes their navigation system to be inoperable, the system to dial 911 voluntarily, the back up camera to be inoperable at times, the climate control to be inoperable as well as various other issues which have become a safety hazard while operating the vehicle. The problem has been reported to the dealer as well as well as confirmed by the dealer.

May 2, 2022

The jeeps radio failed that controls safety features in the vehicle this was caused by a delaminating touch screen. The touch screen would select options on its own including safety and driving settings due to this defect. It is widely posted about in 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles with this display. Mopar customer support denied the claim to reimburse me for the radio because I was not the original owner. As the second owner, ive been put in a financial loss for a 1,000 dollar radio that controls all the safety features in the vehicle.

Apr 26, 2022

Uconnect screen with radio/nav/driver controls is delaminating, causing screens to change and overriding all driver selections. Jeep customer care says the only option is for owners to pay $1,000 to replace the unit with a dealer. This Jeep Overland is a 2018, and the problem appears to be endemic among Jeeps. It creates serious safety issues when the unit overrides driver choices, and is also distracting as the unit beeps and switches back and forth among options.

Apr 25, 2022

Touch screen in Jeep is delaminating. The delaminating has now caused the screen to malfunction. The screen is unusable and continues to cycle on its own through different stations, different calls, the seat controls, the back up camera (which is very disorienting on the highway) and through the apps.

Apr 6, 2022

Electronic radio unit constantly flips around to different areas beeping all the time. I think it is called phantom touches. It will change radio channels, affects climate control by turning up heat to 82 degrees, turns on backup camera while driving down the road at 70 miles an hour, constantly changes radio stations, doesn't allow you to use navigation system, plus many other things. I believe this is a known issue as I have seen many complaints on the internet and my dealership also has customers complaining about their cars. I have also made my dealership aware of the issue. They say there is nothing they can do as there has been no recall. There needs to be a recall on these as it is very dangerous to be driving when these things are occurring. Very distracting and you are unable to do anything about it. Sometimes you have to pull over and shut the car off and turn it back on to see if you can correct it but many times it keeps on doing the same thing.

Mar 21, 2022 Fire

The battery under my passenger seat caught on fire. The car was completely turned off and parked in my driveway. When I went to leave I opened the car door and black smoke was rolling out. 30 minutes prior I drove the car and there was no warning lights or issues. It was driving like normal. The car is currently being inspected by Jeep and my insurance. My husband and I's safety would have been at risk if we did not catch the fire as soon as we did, not only our lives but it could have hurt our neighbors who live close. As we were outside working when the fire started you could not smell or see the smoke coming out of the car.

Mar 18, 2022

The uconnect8.4" radio touch screen has started to delaminate causing the radio and other controls such as the seat heaters and air conditioning/defrost controls to act erratically casing a distraction while driving the car.

Mar 12, 2022

The touchscreen on our Jeep has begun malfunctioning in ways that st dangerous and distracting. A staff member dealer service center and the electronic store with whom we discussed it said that this was a common problem with this car. But it is not covered by the limited warranty at this juncture and will be over 1200 dollars with labor. It seems more like a defect. Particularly in humid or times when there is a change in temperature, the touch screen begins self triggering, acting as if it's being rapidly and randomly pressed hundreds of times, triggering screen functions, dialing actual calls, changing radio stations, changing climate temperatures, turning on seat heating, etc. This is very distracting while driving. In addition it means that the climate controls on the car cannot be used. It appears that the touch screen glass has slightly separated from the underlying screen in the right upper quadrant, but it's hard to tell. If this is happening on many jeeps, it is a manufacturing issue and there should be a recall.

Mar 9, 2022

The component that is malfunctioning is the film behind the UConnect screen delaminating making the screen difficult to read in that area. Ensuring that the right screen icon/button is being pushed is made difficult because the screen is affected. This draws my attention away from the road in order to use the screen/the icons in the upper left corner. The problem has been confirmed as a known issue through UConnect and the Jeep Dealership and there has been a service bulletin put out for this issue (per reporting of representatives of each of the aforementioned). UConnect reps have stated they get calls regarding this regularly. Multiple instances from other Jeep/Chrysler consumers can be found on online forums. The component has been inspected and delamination was confirmed at the dealership. Due to the cost of the repair, I can not financially address this issue at this time. There are no warnings or messages related to this issue.

Mar 7, 2022

The radio continues to turn on and off by itself. Attempts to make phone calls when nothing was dialed. GPS turns on and off when it is not being utilized. Air and heat turns on and off when not being utilized.

Feb 28, 2022

The touchscreen that controls heating/air/radio/backup camera/etc... is going haywire during driving the vehicle. This causes major distraction as it is flipping to one control to the next, changing the climate controls switching the navigation system and radio stations all while driving. There is no way to turn off the touchscreen or keep it frozen so it continues to do this while the car is in use. There are no warnings and the operator is powerless to make it stop.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while working on his vehicle at a friend's home, he discovered that all of the exterior lights, except the driver’s side headlight, failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that the interior lights would intermittently flash on and off without warning. The contact attempted to reset the battery; however, the failure persisted. The contact initially took the vehicle to the dealer where it was purchased; Cloninger Ford (511 Jake Alexander Blvd S, Salisbury, NC 28147) and was informed that they could not service his vehicle. The contact then called another dealer where he described the failure and was informed that the body control module was corroded and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

My radio-touch panel system worked fine up until I approached the 3rd year of ownership when I received a download directly to the vehicle and immediately after that the touch screen control panel went haywire. I find it convenient that this happened so close to the manufactures warranty being up. The download was sent directly to the car by Uconnect. The Jeep dealership told me without looking at it that it would be a $1000 to replace plus an inspection into the problem cost of like $300. They said it was a common problem and that it was not covered and that I had to leave it. I could not do that at that time, I was going on a trip. The touch panel causes "phantom touches” while driving the Jeep. The most common problem is repeatedly asking for the clock date/time input regardless if you try to close it out, it comes back and does not allow you to use the other components of the touch screen. It is extremely distracting and it beeps repeatedly over the radio or phone usage, keeping you from being able to concentrate on anything but the rapid beeping and flashing on the screen. Sometimes I cannot even make calls because the phone system will not work, or it will randomly call people in my contacts without me touching the phone or the touch screen. It is startling to a driver when a phone starts calling random contacts and you push the red hang up button and it does not work. This system controls literally everything (radio, heat, AC, defrost, phone usage, navigation system) and can be very distracting to the driver while driving. I bought this vehicle for the sole purpose of it’s great safety review (at that time) and in my experience, it has been anything but safe.

I OWN A 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND THE SCREEN IS DELAMINATING AND CALLING RANDOM NUMBERS ON MY PHONE ALONG WITH PRESSING RANDOM BUTTONS ON THE SCREEN WHEN IT IS CONNECTED TO BLUETOOTH. THIS IS A HAZARD BECAUSE IT TAKES MY ATTENTION OFF THE ROAD TO TRY TO HANG UP ON THE CALLS AND FIX THE SCREEN. JEEP KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND REFUSES TO FIX IT OR CALL A RECALL. IT IS A PROBLEM THAT IS GOING ON WITH CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE MODELS 2018 AND ON.THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT COULD RESULT IN A CRASH CAUSED MY THIS ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION. MANY JEEP OWNERS IVE SPOKEN TOO HAVE THIS PROBLEM ALSO RIGHT OUT OF THE FACTORY. THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT IS THE MANUFACTURER ISSUE AND SHOULD NOT BE PINNED ON THE CUSTOMER TO REPLACE OR FIX FOR A STEEP PRICE. THE CUSTOMER SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. I HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO THE SCREEN TO MAKE IT DELAMINATE I DON'T EVEN TOUCH IT. THUS DEMANDING A RECALL BE ISSUED TO FIX THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

There are numerous safety issues with this vehicle. The most concerning is electrical/fuel/engine relating to the TIPM. The vehicle intermittently refuses to start. The integrated fuel pump relay in the TIPM fails. This has left my wife stranded in potentially dangerous areas. It has also died while the vehicle was in motion. In addition to the TIPM issues, the digitizer of the factory radio/navigation system has delaminated from the LCD screen. The safety issues this causes are multiple: random phone calls while driving (distracting), random radio station changes (again, distracting to a driver), and an inability to properly utilize navigation (potentially dangerous if it tries to change a route and indicates last-second turns). It also prevents the driver from calling someone if they are in need of help. Not only does hands-free calling not work, but even when taking out the phone to dial, the haywire behavior of the device being connected via bluetooth makes calls difficult. These are known issues by the Jeep dealer with frequent warranty replacements admitted by the advisor and technician, yet they have been zero assistance in helping because the vehicle is out of warranty. It will require action from someone like the NHTSA to get Jeep to correct these problems for many owners. It is criminal to charge people this amount of money for a vehicle that simply doesn't do what it is supposed to do.

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee radio touch screen erratic operation touch screen unresponsive at times cannot control hvac controls to defrost windows creating a safety issue

Jan 28, 2022

Touchscreen is delaminating.....when this happens i have no control over the defrost which poses a serious safety hazard while driving.

Jan 21, 2022

Delamination of the touch screen control panel. Corner began with a small air bubble and proceeded to spread across the top and towards the bottom along the edge. Causes "phantom touches". Most common symptom is repeatedly asking for date/time input regardless if you try to close it out. It will beep repeatedly. One time the system reset itself while driving after a session of these "phantom touches". This system controls literally everything and can be very distracting to the driver while driving. Even with the 5k gold dealer warranty this is not covered. Chrysler was zero help. I see many complaints of the same exact description online. We have had this vehicle for 8 months and it's already an issue every few months. Now we are expected to shell out $1,500 for a new head unit. Not what we expected for $30k+. -ac compressor replacement (Dealer installed sterling wheel crooked doing this job and had to hold it an additional 30 hours.) -screen delamination -squeaking driverside window

My Jeep Grand Cherokee is having an issue known as "Screen Delamination". This is the radio unit and it causes "ghost touches" to happen all the time. I have done a lot of research on this issue, because Jeep will not replace the faulty unit, because I am not the original owner of the vehicle. I contacted Jeep and they told me they will not open a case for me since I was not the original owner. There are several jeep boards where owners are having the same issue. This issue causes the radio to change stations on its own, make phone calls by itself, change the settings in the system, control the AC functions. All this happens when no one is touching the screen or anything. I feel like since there have been so many complaints about this, that Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler should replace these units.

Hi My safety issue on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee radio face delaminating uncontrollably glitching screens back and forth calling sos controlling climate controls volume up and on radio switching stations etc.. Getting worse Danny

Dec 30, 2021

Instrument panel/ Main display screen is delaminating. Causing inability to use navigation, seat heaters, UConnect, Apps or set any presets, media, radio or any other item from main display. Safety features from main menu are inaccessible, navigation is impeded at any moment and use of screen is unpredictable.

Dec 27, 2021

The radio is glitching. It’s pressing buttons on the touch screen and I’m not touching the screen.

Dec 21, 2021

My 2018 Jeep GC has the delaminating screen It has 88,000 miles & I was told since I am not the first owner it’s not going to be fixed. Hard to believe I paid $30,000 for a vehicle with everything to be reduced to having nothing. The screen gets very hot & sticky stuff melts onto the console!! Once a screen comes up about clock settings then nothing can be accessed. The preset radio stations randomly & constantly change, the temperature goes from hot to cold, it switches from xm to regular radio, it saves favorite songs & artists, seat warmer comes on & you cannot turn it off or down, when starting the vehicle it randomly makes phone calls from the recent list or calls the first person in my contacts list. (She is used to it, I now have to text her if I really want to call her) it beeps constantly, when trying to use hands free phone calls it switches itself to the phone and back to the car over & over & constantly hangs up the screen randomly changes to the rear camera so your whole screen is you looking behind your vehicle it constantly switches where the air is blowing from the floor to the face to the windshield back to the floor then the face then the windshield and I have asked for help from service & the dealer but nothing they didn’t even return my call. I have written letters & called every number including Chrysler cares (case# 81357273) but no one will help. When I ask why because I am the second Owner they won’t fix it & they say it’s company policy. So if I was the first owner they would fix it under Chrysler Good Will. It’s been a year. Very disappointed in Chrysler & Jeep. After I purchased mine a co-worker purchased one & my son but I will never recommend Jeep again. How is a defect the first, second, or third or twentieth persons fault? The company policy excuse is just their way of not having to fix it. I wish I would have sold it back to them when they offered after Covid started. I asked my family to sue if I get hurt I have documented it ALL!!!

Dec 21, 2021

At less than 30,000 miles, the Jeep Grand Cherokee's touch screen display malfunctioned and began acting on it's own. The primary issues that I have used and been impacted by are the system changes radio stations and inputs and changes destination points on the GPS, without selection from the driver or any occupant. These are both audio and visual changes that occur sporadically and are extremely distracting and call for the driver's attention to attempt to remedy the defect while driving. If the driver is following the navigation but then the screen changes to other displays and information, this conflict can easily cause a crash on top of being a nuisance. I have read several other similar complaints that seem to be going unaddressed by the manufacturer and are being identified as "delamination" of the vehicle's display unit, which houses information, entertainment, navigation, and other other digital/automated controls.

Dec 21, 2021

I purchased the vehicle new and it now has 29500 miles on it. The screen for the navigation (which controls stereo, climate, phone, and everything else) started delaminating. When the screen starts doing phantom touches it is very distracting to the driver. Also, as the glue melts, it leaks onto the wiring of all the components under the screen including the AC, all the parking sensor and traction control off controls.

Dec 6, 2021

The infotainment screen is delaminating and the digitizer is separating from the screen. Where separated, the screen prompts the driver to change settings, arbitrarily changes settings, or changes radio settings and renders the screen unusable. The driver is unable to adjust important settings on the vehicle and sometimes has to turn the screen off totally which renders the backup camera useless. The constant prompting to change settings or arbitrarily changing settings or making unwanted phone calls is distracting to the driver and draws his attention from driving. I have contacted FCA(Jeep’s parent company) and they are aware of the problem but have declined to address it.

Dec 2, 2021

Our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee which has less than 16,000 miles has developed an unusual problem. The uconnect screen console with radio will no longer stay on any station, instead it jumps from station & goes from xm, fm, to am, all on it's own. Others have reported rear canera locks up, stalling has occured, bluetooth phone connection begins making calls fron the contacts list and seat warmer & cooler go on & off. Jeep is aware of these problems & more. Jeep & our dealership says they are aware of these problems. They say it is caused by delamination, that is the glue used to mount the screen & cosole is melting and dripping down on connections on the moterboard causing much erratic behaviour. This collection of problems is certainly a safety issue. However, at this time Jeep has not set a recall. It looks as though Jeep has decided to just stick it to their loyal customers and let them pay up to $ 2,000 for replacing the console. Jeep offers a two year warranty but I am unable to find out if these problems have been addressed or are we getting another screen & console with the same problems. I am trying to find a way to contact Jeep directly but having no luck so far.

Dec 1, 2021

The radio had a delamination issues cause if the screen to go haywire. If turned on the radio would automatically flip through all the settings on the head unit. From headed seats to navigation to music it rendered the entire unit unusable. It might as well came without a radio or navigation because it couldn’t be used.

The contact's daughter owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle had been serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Vehicle Speed Control) in November 2018. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

8.4" Uconnect LCD display is de-laminating, resulting in loss of system controls, backup camera and erratic behavior. This is distracting and can create a dangerous situation while operating the vehicle.

Nov 22, 2021

The touch screen interface of the U-Connect system on my Jeep is delaminating from the screen behind it. This has resulted in bubbles forming in the screen and the system is now registering ghost touches on the interface. This is creating a very distracting and unsafe driving experience as the system constantly jumps around and flashes different screens while the vehicle is in motion.

Nov 21, 2021

The glue between the radio and the touchscreen melts and makes the radio perform phantom changes. This is a distraction to the driver and the cause a major safety issue. Also, as the glue melts, it leaks onto the wiring of all the components under the screen including the AC, all the parking sensor and traction control off controls

Nov 12, 2021

The screen that has all of the controls for my vehicle has starting what they are calling "delamination" to where it is separating and randomly pressing all kinds of buttons and making calls. It is turning on the rear camera, adjusting the temperature, radio station volume, and is constantly beeping. It is very dangerous and a huge distraction. If you press the button for the screen to turn off, it just turns it right back on because of the screen issue. I have reported this issue to the Jeep dealership where I purchased the vehicle as well as directly to Jeep manufacturer. Both indicated, as does a general internet search, that this is a well known issue occurring in these vehicles. When the radio starts blaring and the seat cooler turns on and a random phone call is made through bluetooth, this is incredibly dangerous and distracting to me as a driver.

Nov 2, 2021

Uconnect system constantly displays to change time. Not able to change time and the system constantly beeps while driving. Also it is obstructing the back up camera. Research online through Jeep forums state this is a common issues with the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Is this a recall or is a service bulletin available for this issue?

Oct 31, 2021

The center 8.4” UConnect touch screen /control panel’s interface has delaminated with effectively makes the federally mandated back up camera and other vehicle systems inoperable. The delamination of the touch screen causes numerous issues including screen blanking out , back up camera failure , error messages for clock that consumes the entire screen display as well as random issues with Apple Car Play and the OEM Navigation system. There is a highly distracting audible sound due to this failure /defect. This is a clear safety issue and is well documented as a common defect with 2018 Grand Cherokees in automotive forums and social media.

Oct 31, 2021

Uconnect screen is bubbling and delaminating. As a result it is causing the touch screen to act crazy. Back up camera will freeze and stay on screen even when not in reverse, radio will change on its own, clock setting will continue to flicker on screen, air and heat will randomly turn on and up. Entire touch screen will freeze and act up.

Oct 30, 2021

I purchased my 2018 Jeep Cherokee right off the dealership lot in Lynnfield MA in August of 2018. I then have had on going issues. Starting with strange squilling sound coming from back of vehicle, this was never found reason by technician but they replaced engine air filter jume 2020, then my heater wasn’t working in dec.2020, replaced motor blower with wheel, then may2021 my vehicle just shut down as I was driving on the highway to work at night no prior warnings beforehand, lucky no one was hurt towed in and no start and transmission was stuck no fuel pressure, dtc related and shorted fuel pump. Replaced module fuel pump level unit. Now just October 29,2021 my vehicle is not starting I jumped the battery and lights come on but vehicle won’t start. Dealership I purchased vehicle from won’t contact me back so I towed the vehicle to them and still no response. I’m very disappointed in Jeep I don’t feel safe or that my vehicle is not dependable and for all the money I keep putting into it I should have a dependable car.

Oct 25, 2021

Problem #1: ABS sensor malfunction on all 4 wheels causing vehicle to stall on the highway. I could not accelerate and the whole vehicle was jerking. Huge safety issue. Problem #2: The screen/radio/navigation system malfunctioned while driving. The volume was going up and down, it was calling contacts in my phone, turning on air conditioning and heater, turning on seat warmer and cooler, changing radio/ songs, disconnecting and reconnecting to different bluetooths. Also a huge safety issue, I had to pull over until it stopped. Massive distraction.

Oct 25, 2021

My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee has encountered an issue that several thousand others have encountered. The UConnect screen delaminates and phantom-pushes buttons like heat, AC or changes apps like Maps while driving. This is obviously a huge safety concern especially since I'm regularly driving children. I called my local dealership and they told me to contact the FCA and open a case. They let me know that in many cases, the FCA actually covered the cost of repair since they have it well documented that this is a safety concern. I called and they told me that my warranty ended 30 days ago and that this unless it becomes a recall will fall on me even though they have acknowledged that this is a safety concern. I unfortunately do not have the $2000 in these times to cover the cost of repair for this manufacturers' defect and hope to be reimbursed at a later date. So now I am stuck with a defective safety compromising manufacturers' defect and no fix. God forbid something happens to me or my family because of this.

8.4 Uconnect screen is delaminating

Oct 20, 2021

Back up camera failed to engage when I was in reverse and backing out of a parking spot. I came close to hitting a vehicle which was moving behind me. Once my vehicle was home, parked and turned off, the monitor screen remained backlit and became quite warm to the touch. No messages/warnings appeared in advance to indicate backup camera failure. I did contact our local Jeep dealer and the assistant service manager took a report upon our insistence. The vehicle was 250 miles outside of the 36,000 warranty window. They would not even look at vehicle until appt. 8 days out. We researched online and found other owners of 2018 Jeeps had the same issue and they solved it themselves by disconnecting the battery cables allowing the electric system to 'reboot'. We tried and it was successful. We were concerned not only about the safety of not having a back up camera engaged and working, but also about the continued warming of the dash area in a parked, turned off car.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently stalled and lost electrical power. The message "Check Your Transmission" appeared on the instrument panel. The contact stated he veered to the side of the road and was able to restart the vehicle after 20 minutes. The contact continued to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that no issues were found. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer Normandin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT (900 Capitol Expressway Auto Mall, San Jose, CA 95136) who diagnosed that the alternator and water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving with the vehicle becoming overheated. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer Huffines Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM Plano (4500 W Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX 75093) who could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V524000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 13,500.

8.4" UConnect Display underwent delamination after only three years of normal use. The resulting "Phantom touches" have made the safety functions integrated in the Infotainment display un-useable. Dealership has failed to accept the factory defect of this product -- quote for repair is over $1,200 including parts and labor.

The radio screen is delaminating causing causing ghost touching turning heated seats on air conditioning on or off and off and turning radio stations . It is a dangerous distraction. Almost caused accident due to distraction.

Oct 8, 2021

The car computer screen was malfunctioning and then failed. All internal system lights warning lamps and service messages appeared and continued flashing until the battery died. I am attempting to get a dealer to inspect the vehicle. Vehicle has intermittently run; concern there could be a fire. Vehicle has left me stranded. Symptoms of the problem were failures with the vehicle entertainment system. Software would not update. Radio would not hold stations and the GPS showed the vehicle in a different area greatly distant from where it actually was. Took vehicle in for this service when the problems compounded.

Oct 6, 2021

The 8.4" infotainment screen has delaminated and is causing phantom button presses. Multiple functions are accessed via the infotainment screen (media, climate, comfort features, backup camera, etc) and the delimitation is creating a serious safety concern because the screen is recognizing phantom touches that are changing the radio, turning it up, turning on my backup camera, changing the climate, making phone calls, and so on. All of this occurs while driving.

There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle in for diagnosis. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

The electrical system on the touch screen is overheating I'm assuming from the engine area causing malfunctioning of the screen,ac,heating and radio as well as Bluetooth functioning. It is not safe for driving to have to deal with these issue while functioning the vehicle.

Sep 22, 2021

Radio screen delaminates causing radio functions change without notice, heated seats turn on without notice. Glue has started to leak down towards electrical connections and radio mother board.

Sep 19, 2021

The component I am reporting is the Uconnect touch screen/control panel within the head unit of the car. The screen is delaminating, which is resulting in distorted images during use (quite noticeable when using the backup camera). Also, while the vehicle is in motion, random buttons are being pressed on the interface as a result of this delamination, which is extremely distracting while driving the vehicle. Researching this issue online shows many owners of 2018 Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge vehicles fitted with this same Uconnect screen to be experiencing the same issue, which leads me to believe this is a manufacturer defect.

Sep 14, 2021

The infotainment system is malfunctioning. The radio turns on and off and switches channels on its own. The phone will also randomly dial phone numbers continuously. Navigation will suddenly try to send me someplace on it's own. This issue could potentially distract me enough to cause an accident while I'm driving, especially when I'm on the highway and it starts dialing numbers in my contact list.

Sep 11, 2021

The screen to the infotainment system is delaminating. Due to the delamination, at times the screen registers phantom presses on the screen. The radio/audio input will switch back-and-forth rapidly, as well as the display on the screen at times. This has been very distracting and dangerous. The car is one month out of warranty, and the manufacturer and dealership will not remedy this safety issue. Going online to research this issue, I see that it is a common complaint for 2018 Chrysler vehicles with the UAQ infotainment system, including the Grand Cherokee and Ram trucks.

Sep 9, 2021

The Infotainment screen has begun to delaminate causing the controls to unexpectedly change while you are driving. The infotainment screen in this vehicle controls everything in this vehicle to include the radio, climate controls, heated and cooled seats, navigation, phone controls, etc. When it happens it can be very distracting to the driver and could result in an accident due to the unexpected nature of the issue.

Radio screen started bubbling up since week or so ago now all my controls are going crazy

Aug 30, 2021

Screen doesn't work correctly the screen start to do crazy this I wish was able to post the video of it acting up I when to the dealership while under warranty and they was willing to fix it at my expense which isn’t fair I shouldn’t have to spend over 2,000 dollars to replace a radio that is defective it’s embarrassing to have others in my vehicle while driving down the road and the radio start to act up

Aug 23, 2021

Component Malfunctioned: 8.4" Center display, it is available to inspect and there are many other vehicles with the same issue. The digitizer on the display is coming unglued (due to heat), it is causing the touchscreen to do things on its own like change the time, call people, switch radio stations. Safety at Risk: While it may not seem like a safety issue outright, when those phantom touches happen is very distracting to the driver. In addition, after reading about other cases where the delamination is even worse, the glue that is essentially melting has been seen to start dripping on other components and wiring inside the center stack, like air conditioning and parking sensor control and traction control button. Reproduced: This is a very well-known issue within the Jeep/FCA family of vehicles. I called their customer service and they were 100% aware, they were ready with a replacement option right away but at my cost. This is a manufacture defect and should be covered by FCA. I live in Cleveland, OH, the hottest it has gotten here is 90 degrees, this screen should have been tested well beyond that temp. If the glue is melting in this weather, it needs to be replaced as a recall. Inspected: No, but I will give it to anyone to inspect. Mine is not as bad as others I have seen but I would like to get is replaced before it becomes an even bigger safety issue. Warnings: No, the car itself does not realize anything is wrong, it thinks that a human being is touching the screen, so it is doing the commands it is given.

Aug 18, 2021

Display showing signs of delamination from the digitizer. Looks like the screen in loosing fluid and draining down. Screen doesn't work correctly where it is delaminated. It is a distraction during driving if it dowork correctly.

Aug 9, 2021

Touchscreen interface (8.4" Uconnect) is delaminating and causing ghost touches which randomly select and activate systems on the screen, including switching screens to different controlled systems. While some of these may not be considered safety-related (environmental controls), I would respectfully suggest that others are, including: random and unexpected changing, turning on or off radio various audio at various sound levels (imagine turning on your car and somebody jokingly set the radio to an extremely loud volume - funny, but not necessarily unsafe. Now imagine that happens randomly while you are driving down the road!); interfaced mobile phone randomly placing calls (I have had this happen; solved by disconnecting phone, but was extremely distracting the first time it happened); random activation of the rear-view camera while driving; navigation system randomly activates (and tries to direct you somewhere you are not going); AND inability to disable the screen in order to alleviate the distractions (ghost touches automatically turn it back on). This is apparently an issue with tons of Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram vehicles...especially 2018 and later. To this point, FCA is refusing to address if out of warranty (which many, including mine, now are). Let me be clear, I am not trying to avoid an out-of-warranty repair on my dime, but I truly believe that the random activation of many of these systems - and the inability to disable most of those - is so distracting that it presents a major safety issue. I would respectfully request you look into this. A few forums indicating how widespread this is: www.jeepgarage.org/threads/display-screen-starting-to-delaminate.224391/ www.ramforumz.com/threads/uconnect-8-4-screen-delamination.274234/ www.ramforum.com/threads/8-4-uconnect-touch-screen-delaminating.162663/ https://www.infotainment.com/blogs/news/touchscreen-bubbling-a-widespread-problem-in-chrysler-dodge-jeep-and-ram-vehicles

The computer screen has delaminated causing computer system failure

Jul 3, 2021

Infotainment system freezes and shuts off on its own when driving. System does its own reboot and can become non functional

Jul 3, 2021

The backup camera and radio system work when they feel like it. The backup camera is definitely a safety issue. The radio and navigation is may not be as important safety issues but for some people who do not have unlimited minutes they need the navigation to work all the time. I am more concerned about the system completely shorting out while driving causing an accident.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

On our way to the grocery store, I turned onto the highway and began accelerating. Suddenly the engine shuts off and random messages pop up on the display. The "D" on the shift indicator was blinking telling me to put the vehicle into park to restart. Steering and braking were impaired as i tried to get the vehicle to the emergency lane. Numerous vehicles at highway speeds had to make rapid maneuvers to avoid hitting us. After coming to a stop and putting the vehicle in park, I restarted the vehicle. The engine light was now on and there were numerous messages coming up on the display. There were also random electrical occurrences as well, rear wiper running with switch in off position. This was a very dangerous situation. Had the individual behind us not had room to maneuver into the adjacent lane he would have impacted us for sure. This seems to be a known issue that needs to be addressed. As this incident just happened i have not a chance to contact a dealer yet. There was no warning prior to the incident. We have had no issues with this vehicle to this point save one, and I do not know if they are related or not. But randomly for a few months prior to this incident, the vehicles radio/control console would freeze up becoming totally unresponsive. It will eventually reboot itself and begin working again. Sometimes after one restart and other times it takes several restarts after varying lengths of time being frozen. The frequency of these occurrences seem to be increasing also. If this was just your radio controls it would be annoying enough, this is your control center for everything. Have not addressed this with the dealer yet as well. I will be contacting my nearest dealership this week.

Just purchased 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee from bulk dealer. The engine consistently stalls while in drive (at red lights, stop signs, intersections) causing safety issues and near MVAs. During stall, the AC continues to blow but air is not cold. The VIN# shows no unrepaired recalls, but the vehicle is behaving exactly as described in recall U87. It still has some time on warranty but I'm not sure how to proceed here. This is certainly unsafe.

WHILE DRIVING MY ENTIRE RADIO SCREEN FREEZES, CAN'T CONTROL TEMPERATURE OR RADIO. THIS HAPPENS SPORADICALLY WHILE I AM DRIVING SOMETIMES EVERY 2 MINUTES. IT IS VERY DISTRACTING AND I AM AFRAID IT IS GOING TO CAUSE A ELECTRICAL FIRE. THIS CAN HAPPEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CAR STOPS AND THE BACKUP CAMERA FREEZES OR IT CAN HAPPEN WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION DRIVING. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP YET BECAUSE 2 OTHER VEHICLES I HAVE ARE GETTING RECALLS REPAIRED. THIS SCREEN CONTROLS EVERYTHING IN THE VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED IF IT HAS ISSUES. I PLAN TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.

MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE RADIO STATION BEGINS CHANGING SPORADICALLY AND THE TELEPHONE STARTS CALLING MULTIPLE PEOPLE IN A ROW CAUSING HER TO HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT EVERYTHING OFF, INCLUDE THE JEEP TO GET IT TO STOP. DAYTONA DODGE SERVICE PERSON TOLD HER THE STEREO WAS "DELAMINATED" AND TOLD MY DAUGHTER THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND. NO HELP FOR DAYTONA DODGE AND CAN'T GET ANYONE FROM CHRYSLER TO RETURN NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS FROM MY DAUGHTER, WIFE AND I. THE SAFETY ISSUE I HAVE HERE IS THAT THIS SPORADIC ACTION OF THE RADIO HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING MULTIPLE POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS, ESPECIALLY AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS IN TRAFFIC. MY CASE NUMBER WITH CHRYSLER IS [XXX] AND THE PHONE NUMBER IS [XXX]. THE NUMBER TO DAYTONA DODGE IS 386-274-0571 AND THE PERSON OF CONTACT THERE IS [XXX]. ON TOP OF THIS THEY TELL ME THAT I MUST PAY A $155 DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO TELL ME THE RADIO IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. NOT TO MENTION THE COST OF THE RADIO, INSTALLATION AND ASSOCIATED SHOP COSTS. THE FOCUS HERE IS THE SAFETY ISSUE. AS A RETIRED DEPUTY SHERIFF, I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH INJURIES AND FATALITIES AND THIS RADIO ISSUE COULD BE A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO MORE NEEDLESS ACCIDENTS. I UNDERSTAND THIS VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE OF MILEAGE BUT I DON'T BELIEVE A RADIO HAS AN ODOMETER AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN A RADIO OF ANY SORT DO WHAT MY DAUGHTER AS TOLD ME THIS ONE DOES. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 10 MPH IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, THE ENGINE ABRUPTLY CUT OFF. THE "D" ON MY DASH BEGAN TO FLASH. STEERING WAS DIFFICULT AND BRAKING WAS DIFFICULT. THE CAR JUST COASTED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT IT IN PARK. THEN I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. IF I HAD BEEN ON A HIGHWAY OR A BUSY STREET, THIS WOULD EASILY HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. MY 8 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE CAR. NOW I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM TAKE A LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. SEEMS THIS IS NOT JUST AN ISSUE FOR ME. A LOT OF OTHER 2018 JEEPS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. A CAR THAT RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF WHILE IT'S BEING DRIVEN IS A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. HOPEFULLY SOMETHING CAN BE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP. ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE CAR THAT MAY BE RELATED OR SEPARATE. THE RADIO IN MY CENTER CONSOL TURNS ON WHEN I START THE CAR. THEN IT FREEZES AND SHUTS OFF. THEN IT TURNS ITSELF BACK ON AND FREEZES AND SHUTS OFF AGAIN. IT GOES THROUGH THIS PROCESS SEVERAL TIME BEFORE IT WILL TURN ON, STAY ON, AND FUNCTION PROPERLY. I AM TOLD THAT IT COULD BE THAT THE CAR NEEDS AN UPDATE. I AM ALSO TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE UPDATE COULD RESULT IN THE CAR NEEDING AN ENTIRELY NEW RADIO.

THIS IS A FULL SAFETY ISSUE AS AT ONE POINT MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AND THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TOTALLY BLANK AT NIGHT. ALL PROBLEMS GRADUALLY STARTED IN OCTOBER 2020. IN THE LATEST SAFETY RELATED ISSUE THE JEEP WAS NO LONGER DRIVABLE AS THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WAS DRAINING THE BATTERY. SIMILAR TO MULTIPLE REVIEWS POSTED HERE, 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. AS OF THIS DATE 12.18.2019 I HAVE EXPERIENCED MY CAR SHUTTING OFF ENTIRELY AT STREET TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS (25-65 MPH) BEING UNABLE TO RESTART MULTIPLE TIMES (5). AS A PART OF RESTARTING THE VEHICLE ONE IS PROMPTED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND ACTIVATE BY PUSHING THE START/STOP. - COUPLE OF ISSUES THERE 1) YOU HAVE TO SOMEHOW MANAGE TO GET YOUR VEHICLE OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET/HIGHWAY WHICH LIKELY WONT HAPPEN. 2) WHEN YOU REALIZE YOU CANT GET INTO A SAFE AREA AND PUT YOUR CAR IN PARK TO ATTEMPT RESTART, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESTART AT ALL. THIS LEAVES YOU AND YOUR VEHICLE COMPLETELY STRANDED AND LOCKED OUT. PUTTING PERSONAL SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE ELSE IN A HIGHLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AND THEN THE COPS COME TELL YOU THEY WILL TOW YOU AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE. - I HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO JUMP THE VEHICLE ALL OF THE TIMES I HAVE BEEN STRANDED. LET ME BE THE FIRST TO TELL YOU THAT TWO CARS STOPPED DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF A HIGHWAY PERFORMING A JUMP IS 100% A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. NOW, THE VEHICLE ALSO LIKES TO DECIDE THAT IT JUST DOESN'T WANT TO START AT ERRATIC INTERVALS. I HAVE NOW 3 TIMES EXPERIENCED MY VEHICLE JUST FLAT OUT NOT STARTING.ONCE RIGHT IN THE MORNING AT WORK, ONCE AT WORK TRYING TO GO FOR LUNCH AND THE FINAL TIME BEING AT LUNCH. IT'S BECOME PAINFULLY CLEAR THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG AND THEY ARE NOW SENDING ME OUT ON LABRAT EXCURSIONS HOPING THEY FIXED AN ISSUE THEY CANNOT IDENTIFY. THEY ARE DOING THIS KNOWING FULL WELL THAT THE COST OF FAILURE COULD END UP BEING MY LIFE.

AN ISSUE RELATING TO ELECTRICAL OR POWER TRAIN CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND REMAIN IN A NO START CONDITION. WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY WITHOUT ELECTRICAL POWER WHILE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE BECOMES UNABLE TO BE CONTROLLED. THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED 9/2018, PURCHASED 12/18. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE AT A SPEED OF 45-55 MPH ON 5/31/18 AND AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AT 30-40 MPH ON A CITY STREET ON 10/18/19. BOTH OF THESE INCIDENTS WERE TERRIFYING AND THANKFULLY WE WERE NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE ONLY SERVICE THAT HAS BEEN PERFORMED (OIL CHANGES AND THESE TWO ISSUES) WAS COMPLETED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. BOTH TIMES THE VEHICLE FAILED, THE DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED THAT THE MASTER FUSE WAS "BLOWN" AND THE REPLACED IT. THIS IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT I AM NOW FORCED TO PAY FOR AND DRIVE MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN AROUND IN NOT KNOWING WHEN IT WILL SHUT OFF AND I WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE OR MOVE FROM THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. WHEN CALLING THE MANUFACTURER, I WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL NUMBER U87 / NHTSA ID 18V524000 DID NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER ALTHOUGH THE DESCRIPTION IS EXACTLY THE SAME. THIS RECALL EXPLAINS THAT THE DEALER SHOULD REPLACE THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE BECAUSE IT MAY BE EQUIPPED WITH A VOLTAGE REGULATOR CHIP IN THE CIRCUIT BOARD THAT MAY FAIL CAUSING A STALL OR NO START CONDITION AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A RISK OF CRASH. YET, THE DEALERSHIP IS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE BECAUSE THE RECALL DOES NOT INCLUDE THIS VIN. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS ISSUE AND THIS IS MY ONLY RECOURSE UNTIL THE ISSUE HAPPENS TWO MORE TIMES, I SURVIVE BEING IN AN INOPERABLE MOVING VEHICLE AND CAN FILE FOR LEMON LAW RIGHTS.

WHILE DRIVING A MESSAGE OF SERVICE SHIFTER DISPLAYED AND VEHICLE WENT LIKE ON PARK MODE BUT IN D SHIFT. CAR WAS IN MOTION AND BECAME STATIONARY. SHIFT LIGHTS CAME ON. ALL WHEELS WERE LOCKED, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON. TURNING CAR OFF AND BACK ON DIDN'T HELP. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE SHIFT FROM D TO ANY OTHER SHIFT. IT WAS VERY SCARY AS I WAS ON HEAVY TRAFFIC ROAD, UNABLE TO MOVE THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE LANE DURING WORK RUSH HOUR. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER, TOW GUY HAD ISSUES GETTING INTO THE FLAT BED AS THE WHEELS WERE FULLY LOCKED. AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION AND A TURN WAS MADE, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND LOST POWER. ALSO, THE FRONT WHEELS AND STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT COULD NOT TURN THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE STIFFNESS OF THE STEERING WHEEL. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE LEAKED OIL AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE, CHECK ENGINE, AND STABILITY CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NORTH WEST DODGE (9616 NORTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77065, (281) 720-1128) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,680. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018 IN AN ELEVATED GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT, IMMEDIATELY AT THE MOMENT OF A LOW SPEED FRONT COLLISION THAT BENT PART OF THE FRONT BUMPER, THE ENGINE RPM SPIKED EXTREMELY HIGH. I THEN CAREFULLY PUT MY FOOT SQUARE ON THE BREAK AND APPLIED PRESSURE BEFORE PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE SO I COULD PARK IN ORDER TO CHECK THE DAMAGE. AS MY FOOT WAS FIRM ON THE BRAKE, WHILE SHIFTING INTO REVERSE THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AS THE ENGINE RPM CONTINUED TO VIOLENTLY ACCELERATE AND SPIKE. THE BRAKE WAS ROCK SOLID AND DID NOT ACTIVATE ALL, NO MATTER HOW MUCH PRESSURE I PUT ON IT AS THE JEEP ACCELERATED THROUGH THE PARKING LOT IN REVERSE, GETTING UP TO ABOUT 40 TO 50 MPH BEFORE STRIKING 4 OTHER VEHICLES. AT LEAST 2 OF THE OTHER VEHICLES WERE TOTALED. ONLY AFTER THE JEEP CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP INTO ONE OF THE PARKED CARS, WAS I ABLE TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND GET OUT TO MAKE SURE NO PEOPLE WERE INJURED. SEVERAL PEDESTRIANS WERE WALKING TO THEIR CARS AT THE MOMENT OF THE INCIDENT. NO ONE WAS HURT BUT SEVERAL PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED AS A RESULT OF THE ENGINE THROTTLE/RPM SPIKING OUT OF CONTROL. THE EXPERIENCE WAS COMPLETELY HORRIFYING. THE ON DUTY POLICE OFFICER WHO I SPOKE WITH, WHO WAS ALSO PRESENT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, DID NOT WRITE A TICKET. AFTER INTERVIEWING ME HE DETERMINED THAT I WAS OF SOUND MIND AND BODY AND NOT UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ANY TYPE OF SUBSTANCE. AFTER SPEAKING WITH SEVERAL TECHNICIANS AND SALES ASSOCIATES AT THE JEEP DEALER, I' WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT JEEP CORPORATE TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE WHO HAD THE AUTHORITY TO HELP ME RESOLVE THIS MATTER. MOVING FORWARD MY BEST ADVISE TO ANYONE ELSE WOULD BE TO CHECK THIS (NHTSA) WEBSITE FOR ANY MANUFACTURER MALFUNCTIONS AND/OR RECALLS.

THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND PLACED INTO PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. I EXITED THE CAR AND IT ACCELERATED IN REVERSE IN A FAST SPEED AND STRUCK A PARKED VEHICLE. I WAS CAUGHT BEHIND THE OPEN DOOR IN PANIC AND WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT I WAS NOT KNOCKED DOWN AND RUN OVER BY THE WHEELS.I AM ADAMANT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS PLACED INTO PARK AND NOT IN REVERSE. I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW FAST THE CAR WAS TRAVELING. THE INCIDENT WAS WITNESSED BY MY HUSBAND AND MY BROTHER IN LAW. MY HUSBAND LATER TALKED TO A MAN THAT WAS NEARBY AND WAS TOLD THAT HE HAD THE EXACT SAME CAR AND YEAR AND THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM. AN INVESTIGATOR WAS SENT OUT AND DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A FAULTY PART IN THE VEHICLE. THE MAN LIVED IN THE STATE OF COLORADO WHICH IS WHERE IT HAPPENED. MY HUSBAND FORGOT TO GET HIS NAME. THIS HAPPENED IN AN RV PARK ON FLAT TERRAIN, PRIVATE PROPERTY.

MY 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BEEN SUBMITTED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A FAULTY SOS FEATURE. THE SOS DOES NOT CONNECT TO EMERGENCY SERVICES AND DOES NOT SHUT OFF. THE SYSTEM STAYS ENGAGED UNTIL A FUSE IS PULLED IN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS AND "STAR TICKETS" HAVE NOT PRODUCED CORRECTION AND STAR TICKETS CANCELLED MULTIPLE TIMES BY THE OEM. THERE ARE SERVICE BULLETINS, BUT NOTHING IS RESOLVING THIS. OEM NOT TAKING THIS AS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. IF SOMETHING SHOULD OCCUR, THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY RESPONSE SERVICE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING FOR OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS VERY UPSETTING THAT THE OEM HAS NOT FIXED A SOFTWARE ISSUE AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE RADIO WITH ONE THAT ACTUALLY PROVIDES THE PROPER CONNECTION TO EMERGENCY SERVICES. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT THAT THE OEM HAS HAD OVER 18 MONTHS TO FIX SINCE THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED.

THE VEHICLE IS BRAND NEW AND A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT DOWN ELECTRICALLY (TWICE WHILE DRIVING) AND THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES WOULD LOCK UP. SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER OF 2017 I HAVE HAD 4 TO 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHERE THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP IN JEEP/CHRYSLER IN LIBERTYVILLE, ILLINOIS. I MADE VERBAL COMPLAINTS AFTER THE SECOND AND THIRD TIME. I WAS TOLD AFTER THE LAST ISSUE THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED AND NO MORE ISSUES WOULD OCCUR, ABOUT 10 MONTHS LATER THE ISSUE HAS OCCURED ONCE AGAIN FOR A FOURTH TIME. I HAVE SON THAT I PICK UP ON THE WEEKENDS WHICH REQUIRES ME TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. MY FEAR IS THAT THE ELECTRICAL WILL GO OUT AND MY SON WILL BE HURT IN A CAR ACCIDENT DUE TO THE STEERING AND BRAKES LOCKING AND NO WAY TO STOP THE VEHICLE SAFELY. THE OCCASION WHERE IS WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE STARTING GOING HAYWIRE, THE DASH LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING AND DIFFERENT SIGNS WERE COMING ON AND THE BRAKES BECAME VERY HARD TO PRESS UNTIL I COULDNT ANY LONGER AND THE STEERING BECAME REALLY HARD TO MOVE UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY LOCKED AS WELL. ON 9 APRIL 2019, THE LAST OF THE FEW ISSUES THAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS VEHICLE IT WAS STATIONARY AND IT WOULDNT START AND THE ELECTRICAL STARTED ACTING UP WITH THE DASHBOARD GIVING ME THE SAME MESSAGES FROM THE LAST FEW TIMES THAT THE SITUATION HAD OCCURRED.

VEHICLE EXHIBITED SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE, WHICH HAD BEEN ON CRUISE CONTROL, WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED IN TRAFFIC FOR 30-45 SECONDS ON I-95 IN SOUTH CAROLINA. THE CAR SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD WHILE THE DRIVER YELLED AT ME 'MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE'. IT SUBSIDED ONCE, THEN SURGED AHEAD AGAIN, LEAVING SKID MARKS AND COLLIDING WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US. IT THEN SURGED A THIRD TIME, PLOUGHING THAT CAR AHEAD, BEFORE THE DRIVER COULD SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK

THIS PROBLEM ONLY LASTS FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN THE CAR CAN GO INTO REVERSE. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER THEY HAD IT FOR 4 DAYS AND COULD ONLY RECREATE THE PROBLEM ONCE. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE PRIOR TO BRINGING IT INTO THE DEALER. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY ELECTRICAL OR ENGINE ISSUES. I WAS TOLD TO BRING IT HOME AND WHEN IT LASTED TO LONGER THEN TO NOTIFY THEM. VERY DISCONCERTING!! HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, DASHBOARD LIT UP AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SWITCH GEARS. WIPERS STARTED GOING AND MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE SCREEN TO NOT TURN THE VEHICLE OFF BECAUSE IT MAY NOT RESTART. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF IT WOULD NOT RESTART AND IT WAS STUCK IN THE RUN POSITION. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY STATED THE VEHICLE OVER FIFTY CODES AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE VEHICLE FOR WELL OVER A MONTH AND HAD TO REACH OUT THE CHRYSLER FOR ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. EVENTUALLY THE DEALERSHIP STATED A SENSOR HAD BECOME LOOSE AND THAT HAD CAUSED ALL THE PROBLEMS. I RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK AND WITHIN A WEEK I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT A MESSAGE POPPED UP THAT THE SHIFTER WAS MALFUNCTIONING, THIS MESSAGE CAME AND WENT MULTIPLE TIMES. A FEW DAYS LATER THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND I RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK THE NEXT DAY. THE FOLLOWING DAY WHILE DRIVING FROM WORK THE DASHBOARD LIT UP AGAIN AND THE SAME INITIAL ISSUE HAPPENED ALL OVER AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN, ONCE AGAIN THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAS HAPPENED. THEY HAVE BEEN IN POSSESSION OF MY VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER MONTH WITH NO SOLUTION. CHRYSLER HAS INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP TO PERFORM A PIN DRAG TEST, THIS TEST SUPPOSEDLY INVOLVES CHECKING EVERY WIRE AND CODE ON THE VEHICLE ONE AT A TIME. AS OF TODAYS DATE I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY VEHICLE BACK.

VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 8.4 INCH UCONNECT/NAV 4C TOUCH SCREEN. THIS SYSTEM/SCREEN CONTROLS THE RADIO, CLIMATE CONTROL, HEATED/COOLED SEATS, PHONE, NAVIGATION, ETC. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR 20-30 MINUTES USING ONLY THE RADIO, THE TOUCH SCREEN BECOMES HOT TO THE TOUCH. RECENTLY THE SCREEN REACHED 127.7 DEGREES (SEE ATTACHED PICTURE). VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER ON 7/30/18 AND THE ISSUE WAS ESCALATED UP TO FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES. FCA CLAIMS THE COMPONENTS ARE OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THIS DOES NOT SEEM CORRECT. EXCESSIVELY HIGH TEMPERATURES CAN COMPROMISE THE ELECTRONICS IN THE DASH AND COULD LEAD TO ELECTRICAL FAILURES AND POSSIBLE FIRE. I WOULD APPRECIATE NHTSA LOOKING INTO THIS BEFORE THERE IS A FIRE OR POSSIBLE INJURY.

TURNED THE CAR OFF AND KEPT IT OFF FOR 10 MINUTES, RE-STARTED THE CAR, THE JEEP DISPLAY DOES NOT POP-UP WITH THE SAFETY NOTIFICATION AND THE BACKUP CAMERA DOES NOT COME ON THE SCREEN WHEN THE CAR IS PLACED IN REVERSE. IT WAS WORKING FINE THE LAST WEEK AND A HALF AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THIS MORNING IT WILL NOT WORK. I CALLED JEEP AND THEY ARE UNSURE WHAT IT IS AND MAY BE A SOFTWARE UPDATE.
