I purchased my Jeep in 2023 and have consistently stayed up to date on all required maintenance. I had no issues with the vehicle until recently, when the check engine light and the start/stop warning appeared out of nowhere. After inspection, the mechanic determined that the entire engine needs to be replaced due to severe coolant leakage. My vehicle has now been in the repair shop for over three months because the engine is on national backorder. I contacted the dealership, but they dismissed my concerns and told me that once the car is purchased, it’s no longer their responsibility. I then reached out to the manufacturer requesting a goodwill resolution, given the unreasonable repair delay and the national backorder of such a critical component. Lemon law mileage limits do not apply to goodwill assistance, trade-in support, or corporate escalations. Despite this, the manufacturer has refused to provide any explanation or documentation for why they cannot assist and it has been three months with no progress. There were no warnings or indicators that something was failing internally, and my mechanic confirmed there was absolutely nothing I could have done to prevent this. I’ve also seen numerous reports of this same issue affecting my specific make and model. Stellantis needs to take accountability. It is completely unfair that I am left without reliable transportation for months over an issue that was entirely out of my control.

In September 2025, the vehicle was shaking upon idle when we started it. We did a test and learned it was somehow losing coolant. We took it to a mechanic who discovered it was burning coolant in the 5th cylinder. They diagnosed the issue as blown head gaskets caused by the engine being machined incorrectly by the manufacturer. This resulted in the need for a short block removal and replacement, resurfacing the cylinder heads, replacing the head gaskets, among with many smaller repairs. The cost was over $8,000 total for a manufacturing error. If left unresolved, this could have caused further mechanical issues and potentially a crash or other safety issues.

My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee suffered a sudden, catastrophic engine failure with no warning lights or alerts. Dealer confirmed the engine seized from overheating and cannot be repaired—replacement engines are on national backorder. This is my only vehicle, I’m 7 months pregnant, and I’ve been without transportation for 30+ days. This appears to be a widespread 3.6L Pentastar defect and a serious safety concern.

Oct 4, 2025

Water pump failure.

Aug 26, 2025

CAM shaft and yes it is available to be looked at. The vehicle was misdiagnosed multiple times and sent back home with the same error code while fixing other items that were not the root cause of the issue. The engine light was on with the misfire code when I brought it in and was repeatedly sent home and within 20 miles the same code returned.

Aug 19, 2025

TURBO supply line broke causing coolant to go all over the engine.

Aug 16, 2025

The vehicle experienced a failure of the engine lifters/rocker arms, which also caused failure of the intake camshaft. This resulted in severe misfires, loss of power, and left the vehicle completely inoperable. The failure created a hazardous situation when the vehicle lost acceleration and was unable to maintain safe driving speeds, placing my safety and the safety of others at risk of collision. The problem was confirmed by Lou’s Car Care and multiple Stellantis dealerships, including Maguire Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. All inspections identified failed rocker arms/lifters and the intake camshaft as the cause of the malfunction. Critically, Stellantis no longer produces replacement intake camshafts for this engine, and the part is listed as indefinitely back ordered and unavailable. This means there is no factory fix, leaving the vehicle permanently disabled. Prior to the failure, the only symptom was a faint ticking noise from the engine. No warning lights or dashboard messages appeared before the incident. The problem escalated suddenly without adequate warning, causing the vehicle to lose power unexpectedly. This failure has caused severe negative consequences for me and my family. Because the vehicle became inoperable and the repair could not be completed, I lost my job due to lack of reliable transportation. I also experienced financial hardship, including losing my vehicle to repossession. My family, including my newborn child, was left without dependable transportation, which created additional safety concerns in emergencies. The failed components remain available for inspection upon request. This issue is widespread across Stellantis vehicles yet has not been addressed through a recall, despite the fact that the defect can cause sudden stalling or total engine failure at unsafe speeds. The unavailability of replacement camshafts means affected vehicles cannot be repaired at all, leaving owners stranded and financially devastated.

Aug 14, 2025

Since the beginning of this year, vehicle began to misfire. So far I have spent over $2000 in repairs including replacing spark plugs, ignition coils, fuel injectors and oil cooler and vehicle continues to misfire and blow white smoke from exhaust. I have been advised that it may be a head gasket issue, which could cost anywhere from $3000 to $5000 but could cost more in the event the engine needs to be completely replaced.

Jul 31, 2025

Rockers & cam shaft are worn and making ticking noise. I only have 86k on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and am diligent with upkeep on the maintenance. This is a very known issue and should be recalled as I have not driven it anymore to prevent further damage to the engine, and also don't have the funds to fork out almost 5k.

Jul 25, 2025

I have been without a vehicle for over 5 months. Paying on a vehicle that I cannot even get out of the garage. Paying storage insurance on a vehicle. There is a major issue with camshafts right now. I have had the spark plugs changed, coils, oil and I was waiting on the camshaft which is on back order for who knows how long. This needs to be addressed and recalled. With the amount being over 14,000 parts on back order I think this should be recalled. Even people who have had the camshaft fixed are still having engine issues with the 3.6L. Please do something about this, I have put so much money into this and I need a vehicle. At 75,000 miles this should not be happening.

Jul 1, 2025

As many others have reported, only 56K miles on this 3.6L Grand Cherokee. When I engage the passing gear an auto stop/start light comes on on the dash followed by the check engine light. Vehicle rides very rough (from a misfire). Taken to an independent shop; they changed plugs and coils but the problem persists. Also a knocking / ticking noise can be heard when accelerating.

Jun 20, 2025

I was driving my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 on the highway at approximately 65-70 MPH, when suddenly the car started sputtering and my check engine light came on and started blinking. The car was essentially not drivable, so I pulled over at a gas station and had the car towed. This is dangerous as I was going uphill, and could have caused an accident, or worse. I did not have a check engine light prior to this! The next day the car was inspected and diagnosed by independent service center, who said there was a cylinder 4 engine misfire, so they replaced the spark plugs and the coils. Car was fixed, or so I thought, fast forward a couple months later while driving to work, same issue (misfires and sputtering) occurs again and coolant now runs low even though there are no visible signs of coolant leakage. I spoke to the independent service center and they mentioned there might be an issue with the engine such as a head gasket or fuel system. I got the Jeep towed to get checked, it was confirmed that it was an engine issue, especially the head gasket, camshaft, pistons, and lifters, and that I was going to need a new engine and it would cost between $8500 - 13000. My Jeep has approximately 83K miles. The issues I describe here with this engine are all similar to those that have been reported.

Jun 10, 2025

The Head gaskets are leaking. Cost of parts to replace is $200 and cost of LABOR is over $4000 quoted from Cross Motors Jeep.

May 23, 2025

Head gasket/engine failure. Constant check engine light. First it was for a misfire and my engine was overheating. Had oil clogging the filter even though it was changed within the appropriate mileage. I got the check engine fixed April of 2024. May 20,2025, head gasket blew, causing me to now have to replace my engine completely. Same issues as previously reported

May 13, 2025

The head gasket blows around 80,000 miles. This is a known problem consumers have with this vehicle. My estimate to have this fixed is over $6,000.00.

Three concerns: (1) the engine light is on. mechanics cannot determine why. (2) the car has trouble starting. When I park indoors, the car doesn't start. The engine turns over several times and the RPM goes all the way up, but the car will not start until the 3rd or 4th try. mechanics cannot determine why. (3) when I pump gas, the fuel pump automatically shuts off even though the gas tank is not full. So I have to hold the pump in place and use the gas gauge to determine when the tank is full. mechanics have seen this problem in other jeeps but haven't given me a reason why.

I just bought this vehicle in February. Since then, about 4 times while driving when i came to a stop the car will not accelerate and the screen tells me to put car in “P” then shift into gear. One time I had to restart the car to put into gear. Then the car drives again.

Grandfather bought the car for me in December 2024. It was sold and wasn’t told there were any issues with the car. It was bought in Texas. I drove it to Colorado. Two and a half weeks into driving the car, it was leaking a lot of oil. Had it looked at and was told The oil housing unit was dumping oil out of it bc it was made of plastic not aluminum. I was trying to go through extended warranty not knowing the severity of the issues of the car. I was going to have it looked at by jeep instead of Midas. They were booked out for over 2 weeks. I was trying to keep oil in the engine while waiting to get it looked at by Jeep. The engines ended up seizing on me. I had put more oil in it the day it seized up on [XXX]. I had to have it towed to pep boys just find out the engine got messed up by the crack in f he coolant and housing unit. The oil lamp came on 2 days before New Year’s Eve. I was trying to find a place to schedule to be looked at and couldn’t get it looked at until after the New Year. I had called Greg May Honda back in Texas to double check to see if they changed the oil before they sold it and said they did. I barely put over 1200 miles on the car since it was bought off the lot. I started doing research on it after the car engine seized up. Come to find out that there is a recall on the oil issue. I also found out that it would lead to the engine seizing up. I believe Pep boys might have reported the issue as of today for a safety recall on it. Dear National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I'm writing to report a critical safety concern regarding the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee's water pump design. As an owner, I've experienced persistent coolant leaks, which I've found is a widespread issue affecting many others. This problem stems from a fundamental design flaw in the water pump, not typical wear and tear. The issue centers on a small "freeze plug" that leaks when the engine reaches operating temperature. This plug serves no apparent purpose and causes premature failures and coolant leaks across numerous vehicles. Key points: The leak occurs consistently when the engine is hot, indicating a design-related problem. This issue potentially leads to engine overheating and severe damage. It affects many vehicles, particularly those with the 3.6L V6 engine. Extensive research on online forums confirms this is a common problem. A YouTube video [XXX] ) provides insight into the issue. The creator states: "Upon digging into this a bit deeper, I don't believe it's the 'weep hole'. It's actually like a small 'freeze plug' that leaks on these pumps. If you look through the pulley at the opposite side of the aluminum freeze plug that leaks, you will see the weep hole. This 'freeze plug' that leaks serves no purpose as far as I see it. It's just like they slapped this plug in the front of the pump… and it leaks when it gets hot." Given this evidence of a design flaw and its widespread impact, I urge NHTSA to: Investigate the water pump design of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee and similar models. Assess the safety implications, including the risk of engine overheating and potential vehicle failures. Consider whether a recall or other corrective action is necessary. The fact that this is a design issue rather than wear-and-tear underscores its urgency. All vehicles with this water pump design are potentially at risk, regardless of mileage or maintenance history. Thank you INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Please see ALL the reports of the same exact issue. There is an issue with the 2018 Grand Cherokee Engines. This blown head gasket is now going to cost me $13,000 to get a new engine. Every report listed in this link IS THE SAME ISSUE. Please address the issues and reimburse owners of this Jeep having to replace their engines. A recall NHTSA 20V-699 was issued on our vehicle in March 2021. This is related to a Fire Hazard. The recall repair was done and component exchanged, now 3 years later and 35,000 miles we have exactly the same issue. A cracked EGR cooler, same as previous. My concern is that the replaced part is from the same batch as originally and as such they replaced a dangerous part with another dangerous part. The dealer and FCA refuses to replace the part as they say the recall has been closed. I my opinion this Fire Hazard still exists and repair was not done with a quality product, as it is exactly the same issue. as before.

The radio randomly changes every 5 seconds, the beeping will drive a person insane, blutooth will hang up or not allow me to answer or call out. The seat warmers turn on randomly as well and i’m unable to lower the temp or turn them off. A/C in the winter and heat the summer. auto start doesn’t work cuz vehicle shuts itself off after 30s - 1 min and navigation is useless cuz of this electrical gremlin. How long before it accelerates by itself or cuts the engine while I’m on the freeway. Safety HAZARD

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle started hesitating and then stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, and the mechanic had the vehicle towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The throttle body wiring was replaced, and the codes were reset. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and it was suggested that the vehicle needed to be retested. The vehicle was repaired again. The contact stated that after retrieving the vehicle from the dealer, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle accelerated independently while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while coming to a stop. The contact made a left turn into a parking lot and the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stopped the vehicle and had the vehicle towed back to the dealer where the vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6 L V6 Engines have a high rate of having HEAD GASKET problems around 100,000 miles causing vehicle to overheat and leak liquid into the cylinders damaging the engine. Please look into this problem at dealerships around the country with this year, make and model and discover how common of an issue this is with owners.

Took my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicle in as oil was leaking badly , which could have made a dangerous situation. Was told by mechanic that my oil filter adapter had to be replaced. Was advised it was made of plastic and had cracked. The mechanic could not believe there wasn’t already a recall on this part. He replaced it with an aluminum part but this was a costly repair costing close to 1,100.00.

The EGR Valve, Diesel Particulate Filter, and Intake Manifold failed at 88k miles. The EGR was replaced at 49k miles on October 4, 2021. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for MIL. The estimated repair cost is $11k. All components are filled with carbon deposits. The emissions system should provide a longer life than 88k miles. Is there a possible design defect with the emission ?

Jul 23, 2024

I bought a 2018 jeep grand Cherokee limited on July 1,2024. A week after owning the vehicle the jeep kept shutting off while driving on the interstate and the dash said “ put in P and push to start” none of the hazard lights came on. It just automatically shut off in the middle of traffic multiple times and when put into park and tried to restart it would take several attempts. This is unsafe and I’m lucky I did not get into an accident since the vehicle is just turning off while I’m driving on a busy highway not to mention almost getting into an accident since I’m given no warning. I dropped off my jeep at the dealership and they have had it for two weeks stating they can not find any issues with the vehicle. This is frustrating and scary and do not even feel comfortable driving a the jeep that I owned for one week. I have read several complaints in the same issue and k won’t seems to be able to find what is causing this issue.

Car dealer said that they already fixed the recalled issue. But we took car to the dealer also for car overheating in very short distances and the car only has about 67,300 miles. The dealer said that they "found stored DTC in PCM" P0304(Cylinder #4 Misfire). "There are combustion gases in cooling system." They said the car needed cylinder head replacement and engine replacement quoting me $8001.88 for repairs which I could not pay. The car has only been driven locally. We also suspect that this car may have been damaged by hurricane Michael in Florida in 2018 and damage may have not been reported. Car was bought in Florida in approx. September 2018 by owner 1 who sold the car to owner 2 with only approx. 2500mi after Hurricane Michael (Oct 9-10th). The car was sold to owner 2 in November 2018 in Florida then brought to California in 2021 and sold to owner 3 who is making this report. Or car may have already presented mechanical issues that may not been reported. Car has only been driven locally.

Stop Start comes on and will turn the car off when stopped. I have to put the car in Park to restart the car. The deal said that there is no recall for this issue.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power intermittently. Additionally, the contact observed a burning odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam shaft, oil valve, and other unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Car began to shake after looking under the hood found low coolant. After replacing the coolant it continued to run low only after 1 week. After second time replacing coolant engine light came on and it was taken to a mechanic who had codes come up as misfires. After replacing spark plugs and full tune up, engine light came back on. After taking it to a dealership they found a crack in the gasket at coolant passage. Car never over heated for the crack to have happened. Also seeing many other people with the same issue at the same mileage of 72k mile or less. I believe there is an issue with the head gasket.

My jeep has stalled on me twice attempting to go through a stop sign at a busy intersection as soon as I slowed the jeep down and then accelerated to go through the stop sign it stalled on a major hwy. no lights come on and the automatic shutoff button is turned off And for the past month the jeep hasn’t started without either a jump or sitting a while after it was hooked to another vehicle.

May 24, 2024

Jeep would not start. No warning lights. Towed to the mechanic. Mechanic said starter needed to be replaced. Once the starter was replaced the mechanic noted whitish smoke from exhaust when starting the Jeep. Further diagnosis he determined the Jeep needed a head gasket replacement. As other Jeep owners have stated this came with no warning. This is a safety issue in part because the vehicle is unable to start leaving the drivers potentially started in unsafe conditions. Jeep needs to post a recall for this issue. Please advise next steps?

Been in the shop & dealer multiple times! Check engine light on for misfire in cylinder one; oil pressure sensor code. Oil case housing was replaced due to cracking! And oil pressure sensor replaced also. But still isn’t fixed and now leaks oil. Head gasket problems. Shop informed me I’ll need to replace loosing coolant going into my head gasket. Around 140k miles but problems occurred before! Jeep please explain why this is happening! A lot of money to fix it and problem after problem

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine block and head are warped. Radio station keeps jumping to random station when I'm not even touching it. Auto On/Off light goes on intermittently. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This could be a failure and engine lock up had I not taken it in when first troubles came about. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes and I'm told the one dealership has 3 THREE other vehicles the same make and model with the same issue! I've also read on forums that many other people have this affect theirs as well. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Check engine light went on a few times, diagnosis showed multiple misfires in the cylinder. White smoke from the exhaust and vehicle shook and acted like it was going to stall upon starting.

Apr 20, 2024

Intermittent extended crank on cold starts and developed a misfire in cylinder 3 and the developed a misfire and coolant leak in cylinder 1. The dealer told me it needs a new engine due to internal engine failure. Codes p0303 and p0300. Engine only has 62,000 on it.

Mar 11, 2024

At 47,000k miles with all maintenance being done at correct intervals. From one day to the next, check engine light came on with error code p0303; Code P0303 stands for “Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected” which indicates that there have been numerous misfires in engine cylinder 3. After taking it to the Jeep dealership they told me its a cracked cylinder head. This was a fairly common issue with earlier year WK2 models, but continues to be a under-reported issue in later years.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to start. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was later able to be restarted and taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a warped head gasket and an overheated radiator. The dealer replaced the left and right cylinder heads, head gasket, timing cover gasket, valve cover gasket, cam sensor gasket, upper and lower intake gaskets, exhaust gasket, EGR, spark plugs, performed an oil change, and refilled the coolant. The contact stated that her husband, who owns another 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, had experienced the same failure, and had the vehicle repaired at the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,599.

The alternator is pulling from the battery draining it and at 9.5 volts the car will go into safety mode where it doesn’t turn off but it won’t drive neither which actually happened to me on Saturday in the middle of the street luckily no car hit mines and the police helped me move it out the road. I complained to CArMax Kearny mesa the previous Friday and instead of them putting me in a loaner car and towing the vehicle they scheduled me for an appointment Monday (today) at 9:30am and never held up their end and I’ve been carless ever since and they had my car for 6 months fixing this same problem I’m having today .

I have a 2018 Jeep grand cherokee and one day it just didn't start. I had it towed to the jeep dealership and was told it was the starter. Once the job was done they service rwp said they will run a complete diagnostics on the jeep and get back to me. I got a call a few a days later saying the jeep had a blown head gasket, a leaking water pump and the coolant was leaking as well. They said the engine was a complete loss and to replace it and labor cost would be 14k. This jeep only has 40k miles on it and those are really soft miles, my wife literally works 5 minutes from our home and it's here daily driver. How is this possible, it's just plain ridiculous. Reaching out to jeep and got no help whatsoever. NEVER BUY A JEEP!

Dec 15, 2023

The head gasket gets blown with 50,000 miles for the 2018 grand jeep Cherokee high altitude. Went to jeep dealership in Downey and they said they knew it would be the head gasket they had other jeeps in the shop with that same problem, but wanted to charge 5000 just to confirm. So then we went to a mechanic in Los Angeles and they had 5 other 2018 jeeps in the shop with the same problem. The 2018 jeep grand Cherokee 3.6L is having so many problems with the head gasket at such low miles this needs to be recalled! How is it a good supposedly reliable car is breaking down so early. This is a SAFETY ISSUE IT can cause a fire !!!!

I am writing to report a concerning issue related to the water pump in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Recently, I discovered a significant coolant leak originating from the water pump, which has raised concerns about the safety and reliability of my vehicle. I would like to bring this matter to your attention for investigation and potential action. While this issue may be isolated to my vehicle, I believe it's crucial to ensure the safety and reliability of all 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee models. I have taken my vehicle to an auto repair shop for repairs, and they confirmed the water pump leak. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated, and I hope that by reporting this issue, we can contribute to the overall safety and quality of vehicles on the road. Thank you for your commitment to ensuring the safety of drivers and passengers.

THIS VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE (INTERMITANT PROBLEM) AT TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. THE GEAR SHIFT CONSOLE AND DASH WILL FLASH AND THE VEHICLE IS RENDRED USELESS. I HAVE TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. TEMPORARY FIX. IT KEEPS HAPPENING. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES (DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR OVER A YEAR). NOONE KNOWS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. NO CODES ARE THROWN. JEEP HAS BEEN CONTACTED. SEVERAL FORUMS I HAVE LOOKED AT ONLINE STATE THIS PROBLEM WITH NO RESOLUTION. THE PROBLEM IS SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. WHEN IT LEAVES ME STRANDED IN AN INTERSECTION, WHICH IT DID, I HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM. A RESOLUTION HAS TO BE FOUND. ITS NOT ALLOWING ME TO UPLOAD VIDEO. I DO HAVE VIDEO OF THIS HAPPENING WHICH HAS BEEN SHOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE ADJUSTER OF MY EXTENDED WARRENTY COMPANY.

I have had 2 safety recalls open on my Jeep without remedy for over a year. FCA has failed to do anything putting me and my family at risk.

Jul 31, 2023

The stop/start feature on my Jeep has just stopped working. The battery has been checked and rechecked and replaced. It doesn't work. The biggest problem now is the 8.4 touchscreen display that malfunctions. The GPS is connected to this along with the radio and backup camera. Other features include the phone, climate control, and other functions. The phone will randomly select contacts I am not trying to call, and the GPS will randomly set locations I am not trying to go. The screen will jump from one application to another which is extremely distracting while driving. I've tried turning the screen off completely but this isn't helpful if I'm actually using my navigation. It's dangerous.

Starting around February 23 after about 10 minutes into driving. The hot temperature lamp would show up . I pull over an it was always empty of coolant I had done that few times within one week. I also didn’t use air conditioning for a few weeks left . An it was ok for few weeks. Then I noticed smoke coming out back pipes . Send to first reipair shop. They found Coolant in a combustion chamber They told me I should send to Jeep shop .

I attempted SEVERAL times to have the Stellantis/Chrysler/Jeep 'Z46 - High-Pressure Fuel Pump Failure' recall repair performed on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Platinum 4X4 EcoDiesel. The 'Z46' recall was issued in JUN 2022. Yet over ONE YEAR LATER each time I inquire about performing this recall repair the Jeep dealer advises that "there are no parts available to perform the recall repair". I submitted a complaint to Stellantis/Chrysler/Jeep Customer Assistance and asked that the problem be escalated. I received no response or further follow up to that complaint submission. I need to sell the vehicle in the next 30 days but cannot sell the vehicle due to the open Z46 recall. I am suffering economic injury as a result of the Jeep dealer's inability to perform the Stellantis/Chrysler/Jeep 'Z46' recall repair.

Jeep issued a recall for the high pressure fuel pump on our 2018 Grand Cherokee about a year ago and a redesigned fuel pump by Bosch is still not available. I am unable to travel out of state for fear that the fuel pump will fail possibly causing a crash or leaving me stranded at my own expense. Why have a recall if the manufacturer can just ignore it and start discontinuing the product which Jeep has started to do at the beginning of 2023. Repeated attempts to get service from Jeep for the recall have resulted in the message no parts available. What is NHTSA doing about this recall?

Mar 29, 2023 Fire

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 55,575 miles was parked in a parking garage all day in Brooklyn NY and when the vehicle was move to the front of the garage by parking attendants the engine started smoking and caught fire. There were no leaks, dashboard symbols or open recalls to cause the fire; additionally the car was linked to a iPhone App CarRx that can scan for any issue and no issue noted. This engine fire not only put all of the other vehicles in the park garage at risk of catching fire but the parking garage sits under a luxury apartment building putting the working and residents at risk. Additionally I commute between Brooklyn and NJ 3x a week and cant imagine what would have happened if I was driving the vehicle over the Brooklyn Bridge, on the Brooklyn Queens Express or in the Holland Tunnel during high commuter rush hour traffic. Car was checked out by a Jeep Dealership who confirm fire was not caused by any leaks or electrical issue but did mentioned it seems to have started around the engine air cleaner. The current status of the issue has been an open investigation with Jeep Corporate for going on the 3rd week with no communication or updates on status. The entire issue and fire from pulling into the garage to the when the car was moved to it smoking and catching fire is all documented on security video.

There is an electrical failure that causes the blinkers to stop working, shortly after noticing this issue the vehicle will fail to start after travelling to my destination. This has happened more than twice and there are no recalls shown for the "Limited" version of this vehicle. The standard edition seems to have confirmed recalls for the same issues that the Limited version is experiencing. A mechanic has described an electrical short circuit. I encourage looking into the different models of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee in which you'll definitely find the same safety issues described online by many others. These repairs need to be addressed and repaired by the manufacturer. Thank you!

October 31, 2022 - Check Engine Light came on. Autozone gave me the P0456 code - Small Leak in Evap System. The check engine light went off a week later. Continued to come on/off for the next 2 months. I was able to finally get an appt on 1/9 and took it into San Diego Jeep Dealership on Camino Del Rio S. They charged $500 for diagnostic even though I had the code already and replaced the Purge Valve & Hose. On 1/14 my car engine would not start at all. On 1/15 my car engine started, I went to drive and within a block my car shut off on me and I coasted to the side of the road while it threw a bunch of different errors including electronic stability warning. I came to a stop and then all of my windshield wipers randomly started going off, my horn randomly started going off, and the lights in my car started flashing. I pressed the push start button to try to turn it all off. I then got the error meesage that my front left headlight was out, it now is, alos my left blinker now doesn't work properly. I tried to start the car again, no luck. I called a tow truck, the tow truck guy was able to get my engine to start. I explained that my car shut off and asked him to follow me for a little while. I got 2 blocks and came to an stop sign where I idled and my car engine shut off on me again. I had my car towed back to the dealership that did the work. On 1/16 they told me it would be $700 for an electrical diagnostic. I did not have any major problems or warnings before taking it to the dealership.

I bought my Jeep Grand Cherokee in the end of February 2021 with approx. 52,000 miles on it. All work done to it after this point has been under warranty with me paying all of the deductibles for the warranty work. A couple of weeks after purchase, the problems began. It was overheating, white steam coming out of my exhaust pipes, vibrating very badly, shutting down at traffic lights, amongst other symptoms. As of now, the dealership has replaced 3 new water pumps, and 2 new cylinder heads (both times were issues with the 3rd cylinder). This go round, it’s now back in the shop with another misfire with cylinder 3. The dealership has also replaced the EGR Cooler, Ignition Coil, Motor Mounts, Coolant Flush, Lifters & Rockers & it is still in the shop. All repairs done by the same shop (different technicians throughout the past year and a half). I thought it might qualify under the lemon law and called an attorney who asked me some questions but said that it does not qualify in my state under the Lemon Law because it’s now past the 60,000 milestone. It now has approximately 85,000 miles on it. I have been without a vehicle approximately 6 months out of the past year and a half and multiple rental car fees (though the dealership absorbed the majority of the fees when it was in the shop this past June/July). A few of the reasons all of this is most upsetting to me: - My daughter and I have broken down on the side of a busy interstate twice (once in the middle of the night) and had to try to get off of the interstate safely so we could be towed - I have been faithfully paying my 'new-to-me' car note ever since I bought it but haven't had much of a chance to drive my 'new' vehicle - My daughter recently got her driver's permit & can't learn how to drive as we are in a rental & it is against the rental company policy to allow anyone else to drive their vehicles. - I have had to take off of work MANY hours due to this This is holding up our lives!

My pre-owned 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 Trailhawk is unsafe and unreliable because the vehicle ** would not start ** on three occasions within 18 months of ownership. Also, the "auto start" feature on the key fob works intermittently. Thankfully, I was in safe locations when the problems occurred, but two of those locations were in public, away from home. Also, the dashboard has indicator lights that come on randomly such as engine or start/stop or "check air suspension" or check ABS. The dealer has not been able to find or diagnose the problem, yet I keep paying out of pocket fees. My problems would occur with no warning, so there would be no time to get help. I contacted Chrysler on 8/8/22 and they were no help; they just directed me back to a dealer to pay another out-of-pocket diagnostic fee. They expressed no concern for my safety, did not acknowledge my frustration, and said a supervisor was not available to speak to me. All recall work was completed prior to my owning the vehicle. I do not trust my own vehicle and I need to travel frequently through desolate and arduous terrain. I am likely going to get rid of the vehicle because (1) I don't trust Chrysler or government systems to help me in the timeframe that I need help, (2) I need to do my job and have a peace of mind, and (3) I need to know that I and my family will be safe.

The vehicle stalled while driving on a busy road. It sounded like it couldn’t shift gears. It also accelerated once I tried to move it to a safer location on the side of the road. It was very scary not knowing if I could get out of the stalling situation in the middle of traffic. The unexpected acceleration upon trying to park it safely was also terrifying.

There are numerous safety issues with this vehicle. The most concerning is electrical/fuel/engine relating to the TIPM. The vehicle intermittently refuses to start. The integrated fuel pump relay in the TIPM fails. This has left my wife stranded in potentially dangerous areas. It has also died while the vehicle was in motion. In addition to the TIPM issues, the digitizer of the factory radio/navigation system has delaminated from the LCD screen. The safety issues this causes are multiple: random phone calls while driving (distracting), random radio station changes (again, distracting to a driver), and an inability to properly utilize navigation (potentially dangerous if it tries to change a route and indicates last-second turns). It also prevents the driver from calling someone if they are in need of help. Not only does hands-free calling not work, but even when taking out the phone to dial, the haywire behavior of the device being connected via bluetooth makes calls difficult. These are known issues by the Jeep dealer with frequent warranty replacements admitted by the advisor and technician, yet they have been zero assistance in helping because the vehicle is out of warranty. It will require action from someone like the NHTSA to get Jeep to correct these problems for many owners. It is criminal to charge people this amount of money for a vehicle that simply doesn't do what it is supposed to do.

I purchased my 2018 Jeep Cherokee right off the dealership lot in Lynnfield MA in August of 2018. I then have had on going issues. Starting with strange squilling sound coming from back of vehicle, this was never found reason by technician but they replaced engine air filter jume 2020, then my heater wasn’t working in dec.2020, replaced motor blower with wheel, then may2021 my vehicle just shut down as I was driving on the highway to work at night no prior warnings beforehand, lucky no one was hurt towed in and no start and transmission was stuck no fuel pressure, dtc related and shorted fuel pump. Replaced module fuel pump level unit. Now just October 29,2021 my vehicle is not starting I jumped the battery and lights come on but vehicle won’t start. Dealership I purchased vehicle from won’t contact me back so I towed the vehicle to them and still no response. I’m very disappointed in Jeep I don’t feel safe or that my vehicle is not dependable and for all the money I keep putting into it I should have a dependable car.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently stalled and lost electrical power. The message "Check Your Transmission" appeared on the instrument panel. The contact stated he veered to the side of the road and was able to restart the vehicle after 20 minutes. The contact continued to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that no issues were found. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer Normandin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT (900 Capitol Expressway Auto Mall, San Jose, CA 95136) who diagnosed that the alternator and water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving with the vehicle becoming overheated. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer Huffines Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM Plano (4500 W Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX 75093) who could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V524000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 13,500.

We have experienced 2 separate episodes of this vehicle suddenly becoming disabled with complete engine shutdown while driving at highway speeds. Both episodes occurred abruptly, engine idling extremely rough, then shutting down within seconds, leaving the car completely inoperable. Both episodes were very dangerous as the car could barely coast to the shoulder of the highway for safety of the passengers. The first episode occurred when the car was a few months old, gas gauge showing over 1/4 tank of diesel gas. Car was towed to the Jeep dealership where they claimed that the car simply ran out of diesel (despite the gas gauge indication) no repair "was required", car filled with several gallons of diesel and OBD codes reset by the dealer, car then ran normally . The second episode occurred one week ago. Again driving at highway speed, 5 lane highway, over 1/4 of diesel remaining on the gauge, sudden violent engine running, sudden full loss of function of the vehicle, nearly in an accident simply trying to " limp " to an emergency stop on the road shoulder. Car required towing to our residence. with the prior experience at the Jeep dealer, despite gauge reading of greater 1/4 tank, the car was filled with 5 gallons of diesel, car started normally. All OBD fault codes insufficient fuel to the engine, fuel rail, fuel pressure, etc. The car has run normally since. I contacted my Jeep dealership and they stated they have no knowledge of any similar issues with this Jeep Diesel engine. The internet and Jeep car forums are filled with identical Diesel engine problems. Either related to faulty fuel pressure regulation or some design fault with fuel level indication affecting the safe operation of this Jeep Diesel engine. these problems date back to pre 2008. We now feel very unsafe to drive this relatively new 2018 Jeep Diesel Grand Cherokee at highway speeds without hovering near the shoulder lane of the road.

On our way to the grocery store, I turned onto the highway and began accelerating. Suddenly the engine shuts off and random messages pop up on the display. The "D" on the shift indicator was blinking telling me to put the vehicle into park to restart. Steering and braking were impaired as i tried to get the vehicle to the emergency lane. Numerous vehicles at highway speeds had to make rapid maneuvers to avoid hitting us. After coming to a stop and putting the vehicle in park, I restarted the vehicle. The engine light was now on and there were numerous messages coming up on the display. There were also random electrical occurrences as well, rear wiper running with switch in off position. This was a very dangerous situation. Had the individual behind us not had room to maneuver into the adjacent lane he would have impacted us for sure. This seems to be a known issue that needs to be addressed. As this incident just happened i have not a chance to contact a dealer yet. There was no warning prior to the incident. We have had no issues with this vehicle to this point save one, and I do not know if they are related or not. But randomly for a few months prior to this incident, the vehicles radio/control console would freeze up becoming totally unresponsive. It will eventually reboot itself and begin working again. Sometimes after one restart and other times it takes several restarts after varying lengths of time being frozen. The frequency of these occurrences seem to be increasing also. If this was just your radio controls it would be annoying enough, this is your control center for everything. Have not addressed this with the dealer yet as well. I will be contacting my nearest dealership this week.

Just purchased 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee from bulk dealer. The engine consistently stalls while in drive (at red lights, stop signs, intersections) causing safety issues and near MVAs. During stall, the AC continues to blow but air is not cold. The VIN# shows no unrepaired recalls, but the vehicle is behaving exactly as described in recall U87. It still has some time on warranty but I'm not sure how to proceed here. This is certainly unsafe.

On 5/14/21 Stop/Start switch - Engine stalling while driving while on turnpike 65 mph. Situation could have turned to an accident easily. Afterwards engine started with warning light to service S/S-switch. No previous issues with the car (26,000 miles). After stop at the rest area, engine started normally and no warning light. Currently waiting for a service appointment to dealership

WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 10 MPH IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, THE ENGINE ABRUPTLY CUT OFF. THE "D" ON MY DASH BEGAN TO FLASH. STEERING WAS DIFFICULT AND BRAKING WAS DIFFICULT. THE CAR JUST COASTED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT IT IN PARK. THEN I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. IF I HAD BEEN ON A HIGHWAY OR A BUSY STREET, THIS WOULD EASILY HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. MY 8 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE CAR. NOW I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM TAKE A LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. SEEMS THIS IS NOT JUST AN ISSUE FOR ME. A LOT OF OTHER 2018 JEEPS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. A CAR THAT RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF WHILE IT'S BEING DRIVEN IS A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. HOPEFULLY SOMETHING CAN BE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP. ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE CAR THAT MAY BE RELATED OR SEPARATE. THE RADIO IN MY CENTER CONSOL TURNS ON WHEN I START THE CAR. THEN IT FREEZES AND SHUTS OFF. THEN IT TURNS ITSELF BACK ON AND FREEZES AND SHUTS OFF AGAIN. IT GOES THROUGH THIS PROCESS SEVERAL TIME BEFORE IT WILL TURN ON, STAY ON, AND FUNCTION PROPERLY. I AM TOLD THAT IT COULD BE THAT THE CAR NEEDS AN UPDATE. I AM ALSO TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE UPDATE COULD RESULT IN THE CAR NEEDING AN ENTIRELY NEW RADIO.

I AM THE OWNER OF A 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. I WAS TRANSPORTING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL ON JANUARY 28, 2020 TRAVELLING AT A SPEED OF 45-50MPH. A MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD PROMPTING ME TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND PUSH START/STOP. MY VEHICLE BEGIN TO STALL AND JUST AS IT WAS SLOWING DOWN ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. I WAS LEFT SITTING IN TRAFFIC FEARING FOR ME AND MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE AS CARS CONTINUE TO DRIVE PASS AT HIGH SPEED OR DRIVING CLOSING BEHIND MY VEHICLE BEFORE REALIZING THAT WE WERE AT A STANDSTILL. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT DID NOT START. I CALLED MY AUTOMOBILE INSURER WHO CONNECTED ME WITH A TOW COMPANY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TRANSPORTED TO THE CAR DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. BASED ON THE DIAGNOSTIC REVIEW, I WAS ADVISED THAT MY 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS A FAILED AC COMPRESSOR WHICH CAUSED THE STARTER TO FAIL INTERNALLY AND MY WATER PUMP IS LEAKING. MY CAR WAS JUST TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECOMMENDED SERVICE ON JANUARY 2, 2020. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT SOME OF THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DETECTED DURING THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE SINCE THE REPORT INDICATES THAT A FULL INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED. DURING THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE SERVICE ON JANUARY 2, I GOT AN OIL CHANGE AND THE AIR FILTER WAS REPLACED. AFTER READING THE OTHER REVIEWS I AM FEARFUL FOR MY LIFE NOW WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE KNOWING THAT IT COULD STOP ANYTIME AND ANYWHERE. OUT OF SAFETY PRECAUTIONS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BENEFICIAL TO POST THIS AS A SAFETY PROBLEM GOD FORBID ANYTHING HAPPENS IN THE FUTURE.

SIMILAR TO MULTIPLE REVIEWS POSTED HERE, 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. AS OF THIS DATE 12.18.2019 I HAVE EXPERIENCED MY CAR SHUTTING OFF ENTIRELY AT STREET TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS (25-65 MPH) BEING UNABLE TO RESTART MULTIPLE TIMES (5). AS A PART OF RESTARTING THE VEHICLE ONE IS PROMPTED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND ACTIVATE BY PUSHING THE START/STOP. - COUPLE OF ISSUES THERE 1) YOU HAVE TO SOMEHOW MANAGE TO GET YOUR VEHICLE OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET/HIGHWAY WHICH LIKELY WONT HAPPEN. 2) WHEN YOU REALIZE YOU CANT GET INTO A SAFE AREA AND PUT YOUR CAR IN PARK TO ATTEMPT RESTART, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESTART AT ALL. THIS LEAVES YOU AND YOUR VEHICLE COMPLETELY STRANDED AND LOCKED OUT. PUTTING PERSONAL SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE ELSE IN A HIGHLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AND THEN THE COPS COME TELL YOU THEY WILL TOW YOU AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE. - I HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO JUMP THE VEHICLE ALL OF THE TIMES I HAVE BEEN STRANDED. LET ME BE THE FIRST TO TELL YOU THAT TWO CARS STOPPED DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF A HIGHWAY PERFORMING A JUMP IS 100% A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. NOW, THE VEHICLE ALSO LIKES TO DECIDE THAT IT JUST DOESN'T WANT TO START AT ERRATIC INTERVALS. I HAVE NOW 3 TIMES EXPERIENCED MY VEHICLE JUST FLAT OUT NOT STARTING.ONCE RIGHT IN THE MORNING AT WORK, ONCE AT WORK TRYING TO GO FOR LUNCH AND THE FINAL TIME BEING AT LUNCH. IT'S BECOME PAINFULLY CLEAR THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG AND THEY ARE NOW SENDING ME OUT ON LABRAT EXCURSIONS HOPING THEY FIXED AN ISSUE THEY CANNOT IDENTIFY. THEY ARE DOING THIS KNOWING FULL WELL THAT THE COST OF FAILURE COULD END UP BEING MY LIFE.

ON 3/11 AND 5/3 2019,MY VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING AND IN GEAR SURGED OUT OF CONTROL CRASHING INTO A PARKED CAR THE FIRST TIME AND HITTING A TELEPHONE POLE THE SECOND TIME.DESPITE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, I COULD NOT GET IT TO STOP.IT FINALLY CAME TO A STOP AFTER HITTING THE NEIGHBOR'S VEHICLE AND TELEPHONE POLE CAUSING SIGNIFICANT BODY DAMAGE ON BOTH OCCASIONS TO MY JEEP.THANKFULLY NO INJURIES BUT I NO LONGER HAVE CONFIDENCE THAT THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE.

ENGINE STOP/START FEATURE CAUSES ENGINE TO STOP/START UPON SHIFTING FROM DRIVE TO PARK, CAN CAUSE DRIVER TO EXIT VEHICLE WITH ENGINE STILL RUNNING

THIS VEHICLE LACKS ANY KIND OF UTILITY FOR POSITIVE ENGINE SHUTOFF CONFIRMATION, AND/OR A WARNING INDICATOR WHEN THE KEY FOB IS SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. IT IS VERY EASY TO ACCIDENTALLY PARK AND EXIT THIS VEHICLE AND LEAVE IT RUNNING. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME FOUR TIMES IN THE 18 MONTHS THAT I'VE OWNED IT. TWO OF THESE TIMES THE ENGINE WAS LEFT ON WHILE PARKED FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A HUGE SAFETY AND EMISSIONS ISSUE. SPECIFICALLY, BECAUSE NO KEY REMOVAL IS NECESSARY, IT IS EASY TO PUSH THE BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE RADIO AND SUBCONSCIOUSLY BELIEVE THAT YOU'VE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. CAR ENGINES ARE VERY QUIET NOW, AND WHEN EXITING WHERE THERE IS EVEN NOMINAL AMBIENT NOISE, YOU MAY NOT HEAR THE VEHICLE RUNNING. AT MINIMUM, I BELIEVE THE KEY FOB SHOULD HAVE A SENSOR TO KNOW WHEN IT IS MORE THAN SAY 20' AWAY FROM A RUNNING VEHICLE AND IT SHOULD WARN YOU WITH LOUD AUDIBLE ALARM. A SECONDARY OPTION WOULD BE TO HAVE A MOBILE APP OR NETWORK CONNECTED SERVICE THAT COULD SEND A TEXT OR EMAIL THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IDLING IN ONE PLACE FOR MORE THAN XX MINUTES.

THEN WHEN CAME TO ANOTHER STOP AT A DRIVE THROUGH, CAR WAS PLACED IN PARK AND THE CAR AGAIN WOULDN'T TAKE OFF AFTER RETURNING TO DRIVE UNTIL STOP START WAS PRESSED AGAIN EVEN THOUGH AUTO OFF WAS STILL TURNED OFF.

THE VEHICLE IS BRAND NEW AND A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT DOWN ELECTRICALLY (TWICE WHILE DRIVING) AND THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES WOULD LOCK UP. SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER OF 2017 I HAVE HAD 4 TO 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHERE THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP IN JEEP/CHRYSLER IN LIBERTYVILLE, ILLINOIS. I MADE VERBAL COMPLAINTS AFTER THE SECOND AND THIRD TIME. I WAS TOLD AFTER THE LAST ISSUE THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED AND NO MORE ISSUES WOULD OCCUR, ABOUT 10 MONTHS LATER THE ISSUE HAS OCCURED ONCE AGAIN FOR A FOURTH TIME. I HAVE SON THAT I PICK UP ON THE WEEKENDS WHICH REQUIRES ME TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. MY FEAR IS THAT THE ELECTRICAL WILL GO OUT AND MY SON WILL BE HURT IN A CAR ACCIDENT DUE TO THE STEERING AND BRAKES LOCKING AND NO WAY TO STOP THE VEHICLE SAFELY. THE OCCASION WHERE IS WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE STARTING GOING HAYWIRE, THE DASH LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING AND DIFFERENT SIGNS WERE COMING ON AND THE BRAKES BECAME VERY HARD TO PRESS UNTIL I COULDNT ANY LONGER AND THE STEERING BECAME REALLY HARD TO MOVE UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY LOCKED AS WELL. ON 9 APRIL 2019, THE LAST OF THE FEW ISSUES THAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS VEHICLE IT WAS STATIONARY AND IT WOULDNT START AND THE ELECTRICAL STARTED ACTING UP WITH THE DASHBOARD GIVING ME THE SAME MESSAGES FROM THE LAST FEW TIMES THAT THE SITUATION HAD OCCURRED.

MY 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE JUST ACCELERATED BY ITSELF UP A SIDEWALK AT A PARKING LOT AND RAN INTO THE PILLAR OF A BUILDING. I THEN PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT ACCELERATED INTO A CAR PARKED BESIDE ME. THE FRONT AXLE SNAPPED COMPLETELY EVEN THOUGH THE IMPACT WAS NOT TREMENDOUS. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALL KINDS OF IMPACT SENSORS AND USUALLY BRAKES ON ITS OWN EVEN WHEN IT SENSES A LEAF FROM A NEARBY BUSH AND NONE OF THAT WORKED. THIS HAPPENED JUST YESTERDAY AND I'M AT A LOSS AS TO WHAT TO DO. I CANNOT BELIEVE MY INTERNET SEARCH HAS YIELDED SO MANY SIMILAR STORIES! *DT *DT *DT*JB

THE JEEP WILL RESTART AFTER PUSHING THE START/STOP BUTTON. THE RPM GAUGE WILL DROP TO 0 AND THEN IT WILL RESTART AGAIN AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH COME ON AGAIN LIKE WHEN YOU FIRST START IT. SOMETIMES IT'S RIGHT AWAY AND SOMETIMES IT TAKES SOMETIME. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS TIMES THAT IT HAS RESTARED AND RAN FOR A FEW HOURS IN A PARKING DECK. I AM WORRIED THAT IF I PARK IT IN THE GARAGE THE CARBON MONOXIDE MIGHT POISON OUR FAMILY.*DT *JB

AFTER HAVING MY JEEP BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER ROUGHLY ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. WE BOUGHT OUR JEEP FROM AUTONATION IN SPRING, TX. WE LIVE IN GALVESTON COUNTY SO WHEN IT TURNED ON WE TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE FOR THE FREE CODE CHECK - THE CODE READ WAS P20E8 AND IT JUST SAID EMISSIONS CODE. NO SPECIFIC READOUT WAS AVAILABLE FOR THE CODE DETECTED. THE EXACT JEEP WE OWN IS A 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SERLING EDITION ECODIESEL. WE DID NOTICE THAT THE DEF FLUID WAS NOT PROPERLY FILLED TO THE FULL LEVEL UPON THE PURCHASE SO FIGURED IT COULD IN RELATION TO THAT. WE DROVE BACK UP TO SPRING TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM THE ISSUE AND THEY SAID OK GOT US IN A RENTAL AND THEN WOULD CALL US AS SOON AS IT WAS READY. ONCE WE PICKED IT UP IT WE ASKED WHAT WAS THE CAUSE FOR THE CODE AND THE TECHNICIAN SAID 'OH WELL IT WAS NOTHING - JUST SOMETHING THAT WE FORGOT TO TURN OFF'. ON THE WAY HOME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN COMES BACK ON THE DASH. WE STOP BY ANOTHER JEEP DEALER IN THE WAY HOME AND INQUIRED WITH THEM WHAT THEY THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE AND THEY SAID 'THAT WHATEVER THE DEALERSHIP TOLD YOU CANNOT BE TRUE'. THEN BILL OR SERVICE OR RECEIPT SAID CHECK ENGINE LIGHT P20E8 WAS FOUND DEF PUMP LOW PRESSURE FAULT IS STORED, FOUND TANK LOW WITH LESS THAN 2 INCHES OF FLUID IN TAKE, FOUND VEHICLE WAS NOT TOPPED OFF WHEN PURCHASED, ADDED DEF TO TANK AND CLEARED CODES AND VERIFIED PROPER DEF FLUID PRESSURES AT INJECTOR. THE LIGHT REMAINS ON TWO DAYS LATER AND NOW A MESSAGE POPS ON MY DASH AND SAID 'DEF SYSTEM PROBLEMS SEE DEALER'. NORMALLY I WOULD NOT BE SO UPSET BUT THIS A BRAND NEW CAR THE DEALER (NOT MENTIONED) WAS NOT EXACTLY HELPFUL DROPPING OFF OR RECEIVING THE VEHICLE BACK WITH ANY KIND OF HELPFUL INFORMATION. I LOVE MY CAR AND JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE IT CAN BE PROPERLY FIXED SO I HOPEFULLY DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY SAFETY OR THE INTEGRITY OF MY CAR.

THIS SUV HAS THE ENERGY EFFICIENT SHUTDOWN/RESTART FEATURE. AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, I RE-ENGAGED THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION BY LIFTING MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE AND BEGAN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE POWER TO ACCELERATE, YOU COULD HEAR THE GRINDING AND PULLING OF THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION BUT ONLY A LITTLE POWER. I PUT ON THE EMERGENCY HAZARD LIGHTS, LOOKED AROUND THE DASH FOR MESSAGES AND VERIFIED THAT THE GEAR WAS INDEED IN DRIVE. I CONTINUED TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO MOVE THE TRUCK OUT OF TRAFFIC. I MADE IT TO A DRIVEWAY WHERE I COULD PULL OFF OF THE MAIN STREET AND NOT BLOCK THE MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK, LOOKED AT EVERYTHING AGAIN (NO WARNINGS OR ERROR MESSAGES) AND PUT THE TRUCK IN GEAR AND IT MOVED AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO. I MADE IT BACK TO THE STREET, WENT A SHORT DISTANCE (LESS THAN 2 BLOCKS), STARTED TO GO UP A SMALL HILL AND THE NO POWER ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS LESS THAN A BLOCK AWAY FROM MY DESTINATION, SO I S-L-O-W-L-Y MADE IT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL. I PARKED IN MY OFFICE'S GARAGE, REPORTED TO WORK AND CONTEMPLATED WHAT TO DO. I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK SINCE THE END OF JUNE AND IT HAS ONLY 1,100 MILES. I WILL BE DROPPING IT OFF/TOWING IT IN TO THE DEALER REPAIR SHOP TOMORROW. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND NOT ACCEPTABLE JEEP!

COMPLAINED OF AN OIL LEAK(OIL MARKS ON THE GARAGE FLOOR AND CARDBOARD PLACE TO VERIFY) PRIOR TO 7500 MILES. DEALERSHIP UNABLE TO FIND THE OIL LEAK THE FIRST TIME. TOOK IT BACK 1 WEEK LATER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT AN OIL LEAK. DEALERSHIP PLACED DYE INTO OIL TO FIND THE LEAK. LEAK WAS FOUND TO BE THE SEAL BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. WHEN DEALERSHIP WENT TO REPLACE SEAL, THEY STATED THE BLOCK WAS CRACKED DUE TO "BEING MACHINED DURING THE ASSEMBLY". NOW WAITING FOR A NEW ENGINE TO BE REPLACED ON A NEW VEHICLE OF 4 MONTHS. OUCH!

SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LEADS TO TOTAL LOSS ON ON MARCH 30 , 2018. THIS IS MY STORY: I BOUGHT MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2018 TRAILHAWK FROM THE ORANGE PARK CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE, RAM DEALERSHIP AKA DARSCARS OF JACKSONVILLE AT 7233 BLANDING BLVD (904) 777-5500 ON OCTOBER 21, 2017 UNDER A THREE YEAR LEASE AGREEMENT WITH ALLY AUTO FINANCE (1-888) 925-2559. ON MARCH 30, 2018 WITH APPROXIMATELY 3700 MILES I WAS AT THE GATEWAY PISTOL AND RIFLE RANGE AT IN JACKSONVILLE WITH MY FRIEND CHARLIE FOR PISTOL SHOOTING. MY CAR WAS PARKED OUTSIDE OF ONE OF THE STEEL SHEDS. WHEN RAIN STARTED WE DECIDED TO DRIVE MY CAR AROUND AND UNDER THE SHED. I TOOK THE CAR AROUND BUT COULDN'T QUITE MAKE IT INTO THE SHED AND HAD TO BACK UP. WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE I HEARD A STRANGE NOISE AND MY FRIEND TOLD ME LATER THAT MY REAR WHEELES STARTED SPINNING, WHICH THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO. WHEN MY CAR WAS IN THE RIGHT POSITION MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BREAK I SHIFTED TO "DRIVE". AT THIS MOMENT THE ENGINE ROARED UP AND RACED FORWARD. I COULD NOT STOP THE CAR. I STEERED IT INTO THE NEXT EMPTY SHOOTING BAY IN 1/2 CIRCLE INTO THE BACKSTOP ENDING UP AT THE WALL WHICH WAS DAMAGED IN THE PROCESS. ALL FRONT AND SIDE AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED. IT WAS AN ABSOLUTELY HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE. IT WAS PLAIN LUCK THAT NOBODY WAS HURT. THE CAR IS PRESENTLY IN THE HANDS OF MY INSURER AAA WHO DECLARED THE CAR A TOTAL LOSS. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN OBVIOUS CASE OF PRODUCT LIABILITY FOR WHICH THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE! I FOUND OUT YESTERDAY THAT THERE IS A SPECIAL PHONE NUMBER FOR CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE IN CHARGE OF LEMON CAR ISSUES 1-844-521-8188. MY COMPLAINT HAS A CASE NUMBER 33880270.

I DROVE THIS VEHICLE TO WORK AND PARKED IT IN A PARKING STRUCTURE AT 8:00 IN THE MORNING. BY 4:00 IN THE AFTERNOON, THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE VEHICLE SAT ALL DAY IN THE STRUCTURE. UNKNOWN AS TO WHY IT CAUGHT FIRE, BUT THE FIRE ORIGINATED SOMEWHERE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I TOOK DELIVERY OF THIS VEHICLE 8 DAYS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED AND IT ONLY HAD APPROXIMATELY 300 MILES ON IT. *TT *JS *DT *JB
