For nearly a year, I have been unable to drive my vehicle due to a serious safety recall involving the HCU/ABS module. Despite the known risks — including false brake light illumination, disabled ABS and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and the ability to start and shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal — the manufacturer has failed to provide a remedy or even a timeline for repair. This delay is not only unacceptable, it is dangerous. I am a veteran who needs to drive to appointments frequently and have been having a lack of proper care because of this as well. The safety risks outlined in the recall are not hypothetical. They represent real, daily threats to myself, my family, and others on the road. A vehicle that can move without brake input poses a hazard even when parked. A disabled ABS and ESC system compromises control in emergency situations. And brake lights that activate erroneously can mislead other drivers, increasing the likelihood of a collision. These are not minor inconveniences — they are critical failures that could result in injury or death. What makes this situation even more urgent is that I am expecting a child. I cannot afford to gamble with safety, especially when the risks persist even while the vehicle is stationary. The fact that I’ve been unable to use my car for almost a year has disrupted my life and left me without reliable transportation during a time when I need it most. The manufacturer’s lack of action — no repair, no interim solution/refund, no meaningful communication — reflects a failure to prioritize customer safety and well-being. This recall has not been handled in a timely or responsible manner. I am calling on NHTSA to take immediate steps to resolve this issue, provide a safe and functional vehicle or refund to ensure that no other families are left vulnerable due to inaction.
I was driving the service brake assembly light came on the. Then the service stability control light came on, I couldn't do anything, I remember hitting my head off the steering wheel in which air bags did not deploy. Thank god it didn't hit someone else.
Our 2019 Jeep has been experiencing symptoms since 2022, and Jeep has no resolution for it yet. I fear for the safety of my family riding in the vehicle, cannot use all the installed features (cannot remote start with check engine light on) and cannot sell it in its current condition due to this recall. Is there any solution in sight?
On December 31, 2024 we had a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo cause a crash due to malfunctioning parts. The ABS brakes failed and locked up. The steering wheel also locked up, causing the vehicle to crash hard into a guard rail. This resulted in the vehicle being totaled, property damage, and a ER visit. While braking on a mountainous road, the brakes and wheel locked up and the vehicle could not be controlled. The police report states this is what happened. We had the vehicle into the dealership multiple times within a year stating that the brakes weren't working properly. They kept telling us that they couldn't find any issues; however, they kept trying to replace different parts to both the front and rear brakes. The vehicle was inspected by the police, insurance adjuster, and a collision body shop. The vehicle was totaled and not 1 single air bag deployed during the collision either. This incident was confirmed by the 3 parties I listed. A family members life was put at risk and looking at the damage, it appeared that it started to roll but ended coming back down instead. When I contacted Mopar about this incident, I was informed of the recall. They also said that there was a fix for the recall. However, there is no fix as to date. We are short a vehicle, which was paid off, an increase in auto insurance, and had a Lifetime Max Care Warranty through Mopar. None of this was in our control. The insurance company has taken the vehicle into their possession. There was no warning signs, it just happened suddenly.
As I was sitting in the back part of my jeep in the hatch out of nowhere the car shook and a large bang went off. I searched the car to find out what happened I couldn't figure it out. later when I got home my son noticed that the driver side headrest looked funny. I checked it myself and saw that the driver side air bag on the headrest deployed itself. My car has not been in any accident and the air bag deployed on its own. When I took my car for a routine oil change. I was informed that it's not jeeps responsibility and I didn't have any warranty coverage.
I was driving my Jeep on Sunday, [XXX] and the service airbag system light kept coming on periodically. When I took it to Szott dealership Service center in White Lake, Michigan. On my drive to the dealership the light never popped on. The service guy said it looked like it was the wiring under the driver's seat. I had to wait for a diagnostic tech to check it out. The tech confirmed it was a wiring issue under the driver's seat. The dealership said it is NOT covered under my extended warranty and it will cost $679 to repair. I realize I need to repair for safety issues. My question is an airbag is important safety feature and Jeep should be responsible and stand behind their product to ensure safety for their customers so, why should I have to pay out of pocket to repair a safety feature that should be functioning properly? I store my jeep in a garage. I have not been in an accident or in a flood...so why am I liable when it is a defective part or wiring? Service air bag system warning appeared out of the blue. Warning turns on and off randomly. Assuming a faulty sensor. Have not been able to get in for service yet.
I was driving east on imperial hwy around 11:50 when a car switched into my lane causing me to collide head on
SUV AIRBAG WARING LIGHT FLASHES OFF AND ON. Lights randomly come off and on when truck is parked.
Airbag did not deploy
Our Jeep just hit 9k miles and the Airbag Service Light has turned on and it gives a warning of it each time you start the vehicle.
MY VEHICLE (2019 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE) WAS ONLY 1 1/2 YEARS OLD AND WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45MPH WHEN I WAS STRUCK BY 4-DOOR CHEVY SILVERADO (DRIVER-TO-DRIVER COLLISION) THAT WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON GREEN, SO ONLY GOING ABOUT 3-5MPH. THE TRUCK'S STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG DEPLOYED, BUT NONE OF MY JEEP'S DID. MY JEEP'S ENTIRE FRONT AREA WAS CRUSHED, AND DRIVER'S SIDE EXPERIENCED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE AS WELL; RESULTING IN MY JEEP BEING TOTALED. EVERYONE AT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT WAS SHOCKED THAT MY JEEP'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AS A RESULT, I BUSTED MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL, AND 6 WEEKS LATER, I STILL HAVE A KNOT ON MY FOREHEAD. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A GRAND CHEROKEE AGAIN! I AM COMPLETELY AMAZED THERE ARE ZERO RECALLS!

THIS VEHICLE WAS HIT BY A SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB PICKUP AT A 4 WAY STOP TWICE BY THE SAME TRUCK. THE IMPACT RESULTED IN THE JEEP BEING A TOTAL LOSS WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE FRONT AND REAR. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED RESULTING IN INJURIES TO BOTH THE DRIVER AND MORE SERIOUS THE PASSENGER. THE JEEP WAS ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP TO CROSS THE INTERSECTION. THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP OR SLOW DOWN AT THE INTERSECTION.*DT*JB

THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO AN ACCIDENT ON 1/22/20 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:45PM NEAR PITTSBURGH, PA. I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE 'DRIVER SIDE' LOWER OR 'FOOT' AIR BAG, AS IT DID NOT 'UNDEPLOY' OR IF IT DID, IT IS VERY BULKY AFTER DOING SO AND BECAUSE OF THAT, IT CAUSED, IN MY OPINION, ADDITIONAL AND UNNECESSARY DAMAGES TO THE OTHER PARTY'S INVOLVED. SITUATION - IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE ACCIDENT, I NEEDED TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND COULD NOT DO SO BECAUSE THE AIRBAG WAS IN THE WAY OF MY FEET REACHING AND PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND IDLING WHICH, CONSEQUENTLY LED TO ME PUSHING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME FURTHER THAN THE ACTUAL SPOT OF THE ACCIDENT AND 'POSSIBLY' INTO THE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF HER. I LITERALLY HAD TO PUT THE JEEP IN 'NEUTRAL' AND THEN PRESS THE 'POWER OR ON/OFF' BUTTON TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND TO KEEP IT FROM CONTINUING TO PUSH HER CAR. NOW ... DO I BELIEVE YOUR VEHICLE SAVED MY LIFE ABSOLUTELY! HOWEVER, THIS AIRBAG ISSUE SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE TURNED OUT HORRIBLY WRONG HAD I NOT KNOWN HOW TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF WITHOUT USING THE BREAK. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN UNCONSCIOUS, THEN IN THEORY I L COULD HAVE PUSHED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME UNTIL WHAT I WAS PUSHING VIA IDLING WAS TOO MUCH WEIGHT FOR THE LOW RPM'S OF IDLING TO BEAR. ADDITIONAL DETAILS - WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY, BUT STILL ON THE EXIT RAMP, I WAS INVOLVED IN A MULTI CAR (4) ACCIDENT THAT I BELIEVE (AS I DID OVERHEAR CONVERSATIONS FROM THE OTHER DRIVERS BUT BEING THE 4TH VEHICLE OUT OF 4, I DID NOT EYEWITNESS THIS MYSELF) MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY AN AGGRESSIVE DRIVER WHO CUT OFF ANOTHER DRIVER IN FRONT OF THE 4 OF US AND THIS ACTION INEVITABLY CAUSED THE 4 OF US BEHIND HIM TO SLAM ON OUR BRAKES. UNFORTUNATELY, THINGS HAPPENED SO QUICKLY THAT I WAS NOT ABLE TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME.
