The car gets started, message pops up saying to safely put the vehicle into park it will shut off soon. It then starts shaking, will not allow you to shift gears, revs up still shaking, it then shuts off and all of the dash panels messages are popping up, ABS, a message to service the air suspension, engine light, car not in park (can't shift it) (we have put tire chucks to hopefully keep it from moving), etc are flashing as well as the interior lights, exterior lights flashing. The only way to get all of the lights to stop flashing is to unhook the brand new auxiliary battery. Mechanic has scanned for codes, more than 60 appear. Once we are able to reattach the battery, we were able to start it, put it into gear before all of the messages and lights started going off again.
The vehicle lost powertrain upon accelaration. Merging onto a freeway and accelerating my vehicle was as if it was in Neutral. Same with starting out at a stop sign, coming to a turn lane and accerlerating to cross traffic, NO POWERTRAIN... just neutral. This issue was also reported by my mechanic when I brought it in as he test drove it. He contacted the local dealership and they inspected as well. Both came to the same conclusion as to what the issue was. The dealership mentioned having repaired over 30 vehicles with the same issue outside of warranty. This issue is very intermittent, which makes it even more dangerous and harder to diagnose until it starts to happen more often as my vehicle put on more miles. No warning lights or messages of failure. I was almost hit broadside at an intersection and nearly rearended on the interstate at 65 mph. My life was seriously in jeopardy as I panic stricken to get power entering the interstate with my vehicle basically in neutral. I had to pull over and shift to park and then to Drive again. According the local dealership and many forums, Jeep is aware of this issue and has had NO RECALL since the majority are out of warranty by the time they are diagnosed. I am beyond frustrated at the sheer danger this has. I am lucky I didn't get hit, someone else may not be. This should have been a recall before the warranty expired. I am now out thousands of dollars on repair and looking for resolution.
Rattling noise when accelerating after a gear change. Dealership replaced transmission and it’s still there. Found a video online of the exact same issue and it turned out to be the PTU (power transfer unit) that needs to be replaced.
For nearly a year, I have been unable to drive my vehicle due to a serious safety recall involving the HCU/ABS module. Despite the known risks — including false brake light illumination, disabled ABS and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and the ability to start and shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal — the manufacturer has failed to provide a remedy or even a timeline for repair. This delay is not only unacceptable, it is dangerous. I am a veteran who needs to drive to appointments frequently and have been having a lack of proper care because of this as well. The safety risks outlined in the recall are not hypothetical. They represent real, daily threats to myself, my family, and others on the road. A vehicle that can move without brake input poses a hazard even when parked. A disabled ABS and ESC system compromises control in emergency situations. And brake lights that activate erroneously can mislead other drivers, increasing the likelihood of a collision. These are not minor inconveniences — they are critical failures that could result in injury or death. What makes this situation even more urgent is that I am expecting a child. I cannot afford to gamble with safety, especially when the risks persist even while the vehicle is stationary. The fact that I’ve been unable to use my car for almost a year has disrupted my life and left me without reliable transportation during a time when I need it most. The manufacturer’s lack of action — no repair, no interim solution/refund, no meaningful communication — reflects a failure to prioritize customer safety and well-being. This recall has not been handled in a timely or responsible manner. I am calling on NHTSA to take immediate steps to resolve this issue, provide a safe and functional vehicle or refund to ensure that no other families are left vulnerable due to inaction.
Just purchased a 2019 Jeep grand cherokee high altitude from stuteville Ford dealership in ponca city oklahoma and they stated the vehicle was fixed, later after block test found out it has a bad headgasket
Vehicle will all suddenly while driving on the roads with speed, dash will blink and start saying to select the gear. At this point vehicle either has to be put in parking (while trying to figure out where to pull over) and reselect the gear, or completely shut off, re start and select gear in order to drive. When the dash blinks vehicle accelerator just revs the engine, loss of power occurs. This especially happens after a fuel up and you move away from gas station.

Transmission is failing due to recall. Car won’t go into park or reverse. Problem has been confirmed by dealer. Lights appeared saying unable to go into gear need to park to shift to gears. Which isn’t an option. Car unsafe as it won’t go into park causing potential rollaway and no longer reverse. Unable to shut car off due to not being able to go into park. Recall no answers for, and transmissions aren’t available.
My vehicle currently has only 23,493 miles on it. During the last 6 years it has intermittently refused to shift out of the lowest gear when I started to drive off. I then have to come to a complete stop, shift out of gear and back into gear in order to drive off. This has probably happened about 10 or 12 times in the last 6 years. I cannot make this situation repeat. It happens only on its own. It is very scary when I am on a highway with other vehicles coming up behind me and I cannot accelerate and I have to quickly find somewhere to pull over and stop. Please help me and my family. I have an appointment in June with a Jeep dealer (earliest available for a transmission problem) to have it looked at. I have never seen any error codes displayed and therefore have no clue what the cause is.
ACTIVE SAFETY RECALL 94B STELLANTIS ISSUED 11/07 4+ MONTHS WITH NO REMEDY!!!! I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND PASSANGERS EVERY TIME I NEED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE. STELLANTIS SHOULD PROVIDE LOANER VEHICLES TO THE CONSUMER AT NO COST GIVEN THEIR INABILITY TO FIND A REMEDY IN A TIMELY MANNER.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V838000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle jolted before shifting gear and accelerating. The contact stated that the gear shifter failed to release immediately to the intended gear while in park(P). The contact stated that several attempts were needed to release the gear shifter out of park(P). The contact stated that after shifting out of park(P) into reverse(R), the message to shift out of park was displayed. The brake warning light was illuminated. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 53,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Car was overheating and leaking antifreeze
Vehicle shut-off while in route, in traffic, check engine light then came on. The second time this occurred, check engine light came on and immediately vehicle proceeded decelerate from 55 mph to 25 mph while I was on a highway. The vehicle would not shift to a higher gear and remained in the lower gear at 30 mph on a 55 mph highway, causing me to move off to the side , turn off the vehicle and then restart the vehicle. Check engine light not shown, vehicle operated, except shifted hard. On several occasions I have shared with the dealer at service appointments that I experienced transmission sensor issues causing delayed shifting, not able to shift into reverse or drive from park, vehicles stalled, and rough gear changes, unusual noises coming from the transmission. The engine check light would come on, then disappear shortly after, but not always. Service appointments by a Jeep dealership resulted in them updating software, which I shared did nothing to resolve the problem, so I brought the vehicle back and asked they check the transmission fluid level and cleanliness of the fluid, and whatever else needed to be checked. I was told the transmission was completely sealed and it was fine by the dealership. It was not fine, and the vehicle stalled again, and again it while on the freeway, almost getting into and accident, the transmission locked up and would not move past 30 mph. A warning light did not appear. I brought it back to the Jeep dealership for repairs because it is not safe to drive. I am being told that the transmission is defective by the service department. I asked if they drove it and they said yes. This has been a problem I have been trying to get resolved for the last four months of 2024. I do have service records, in my glove box, and a video of the transmission flashing in reverse. Vehicle is at the dealership for assessment and repair.
Check engine light illuminated, engine sputtered and slowed down at highway speeds causing risk of accident. Head gasket blown at only 67000 miles. This has been a chronic issue with the engine in this vehicle in previous models and was supposed to be resolved.
On three occasions over the last three years my vehicle has randomly lost power and I have had to pull over and turn the vehicle off, place in Park and restart the engine. The latest incident happened on I95 in heavy traffic, and I was lucky to no be involved in an accident. This time the engine did not restart immediately but only after a 15-minute wait. I received no check engine light and no computer indications of the failure. I know this is an issue with Jeep as my wife and sister have had the same issues in other jeep models. on all occasions the dealerships said they have no idea of what the issue could be and really offered no help.
JEEP grand Cherokee’s are know for their faulty transmissions, I just bought a 2019 jeep grand Cherokee from the dealer and it has a faulty transmission. I’ve research and found out that other owners have same issues. This issues cause the car to jerk forward going from 2nd to 1st gear. This can be an issue because the jerk is strong and can cause an accident when stopping. Please help us out with this issue as it is a safety concern. Thank you!
I have a few different issues with my car. The transmission has been shifting roughly, there’s a loud clunking sound when I put it in reverse, and I'm experiencing slipping, hesitation on acceleration, and sudden bursts of power. The car has been starting to jerk a lot. The engine has lost power while driving, which forced me to pull over on a busy highway at night with my kids in the vehicle. Fortunately, I was able to roll off the freeway, turn off the car, and after several attempts, I managed to drive home. Also my vehicle sometimes have a difficulty starting. I’ll press the start button and no response. I’ve also been dealing with electrical problems. My screen constantly freezes, goes blank or turns off. At times I can’t connect my smart devices. My AC has broke, repaired and having problems again. I previously took my vehicle to the dealership to address issues with the AC. I mentioned these problems, and I was told they would be checked. However, an employee later said they couldn’t find anything wrong. When I spoke to another employee, he admitted he wasn’t aware of the issues. It’s very frustrating dealing with these significant problems, especially since I can’t trust my vehicle and always feel scared to drive out of town. All of this has been an ongoing issue. I have a few friends same model and year and they received recalls but I didn’t. This is my only vehicle, I paid a lot of money for it and I shouldn’t have to be dealing with this. Please help me.

I was sitting at a drive thru when my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 started to malfunction. A service shifter light came on, then the service engine light, then the service airbag light. all the lights and windshield wipers went on. no matter what i did lights and wipers kept malfunctioning. My car stalled and I wasn’t able to move it. I turned my car off, turned it back on and again. It let me drive a couple feet but the steering wheel was stiff. Again it stopped moving, wouldn’t allow me to go any further and only made the noise as if I was accelerating. All the lights and windshield wipers kept going crazy. I turned my car off and on again. Lights and wipers never stopped. I was able to drive another couple feet but then the 4x4 locked. The shifter switched from drive to parking and it was stuck on parking. The emergency neutral lever and button locked. My Jeep was going no where. The cables that connect to the battery were extremely hot and could have been a fire hazard. The vehicle was also saying service transmission continue on D, Do not shift or turn off Engine but the vehicle automatically set it self to Parking. My entire car locked down. I could only turn it on and off. I had to get it towed to the nearest auto repair shop. their analysis computer was unable to communicate with the vehicle. Luckily I was in a drive thru and not driving on the street or freeway. I could have been a very dangerous/deadly situation elsewhere. No previous accidents, issues with the jeep. It all happened suddenly.
I was driving around 75mph on the interstate for about an hour (not using cruise control) when all of a sudden the accelerator no longer worked. There was no warning, no error lights or codes or anything. I tested the brakes and they still worked. I was able to coast to a stop on the breakdown lane. I waited about 20 seconds and restarted the car and everything worked again. This is my son's car that I was driving and it's really concerning because I thought I bought a safe car for him. I'm an experienced driver, but either way it's extremely dangerous. I looked information up about this issue and I guess it's been happening quite a bit according to the internet. Someone mentioned that the 4 PCM torx head t15 mounting screws that hold the PCM faceplate to the protective metal case where the circuit board is housed are too long. (Not the 3 bolts that hold the PCM to the mounting bracket) When there was a vibration or shift, the screws touched the circuit board shorting everything out and causing the engine to stall. The owner put washers with the 4 little t15 screws and were able to fix the problem. I think there needs to be a recall. I'm afraid to drive the car myself or have my son drive it. I'm taking it to the dealer, but I don't think they'll be able to recreate the situation.

I WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC WITH THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE. WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE DRIVE (D) INDICATOR LIGHT BEGAN BLINKING. AT THE SAME TIME, THE ENGINE WOULD REV BUT WOULD NOT GO FORWARD. THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME NEARLY RAN IN INTO THE BACK OF US. I HAD TO SWITCH FROM DRIVE TO PARK, BACK TO DRIVE TO MOVE FORWARD.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN JAN. 2018 BRAND NEW. FOR THE FIRST YEAR OR SO I HAD NO PROBLEMS. AS OF JULY 2020 IT HAS STALLED ON ME FOR 5 TIMES. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY (60-70MPH). THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD START BLINKING AND IT SAYS "SHIFT TO P TO START". IT DECELERATES VERY QUICKLY LUCKILY I'VE BEEN ABLE TO MERGE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE ON THE HIGHWAY BUT THIS LAST TIME (1/17/21) IT WAS VERY SCARY AS CARS WERE SWERVING IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING ME. I'M UNABLE TO ACCELERATE SO THERE'S CARS GOING 60-80MPH FLYING PAST ME. ONCE I GET TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND DOWN TO 5-7MPH THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPS (HARD STOP). I'VE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALER EVERY TIME AND EVERY TIME THEY CAN'T "DUPLICATE" MY COMPLAINT, THERE FOR NOTHING CAN BE DONE.CAN SOMEONE PLEASE FIX THIS AS I STILL HAVE 1 YEAR LEFT ON THIS CAR! IF NOT- IM TRADING IT IN & NO LONGER BUYING JEEPS. I HAVE THE DEALER INVOICE FOR ALL VISITS IF ANYONE NEEDS THEM.

VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING 3 SEPARATE TIMES. THE LAST TIME WAS DOING 65 DOWN A TEXAS HIGHWAY. SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER TO THE ENGINE. ON PRESSING THE THE MOTOR REVVED UP BUT THERE WAS NO TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE. WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER TO SHIFT INTO PARK TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. ALL THREE TIMES THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND THE AUTOMATIC VEHICLE SHUTOFF FEATURE WAS DISABLED. I HAD IT IN TO THE DEALER AFTER THE FIRST TWO TIMES, THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO REPRODUCE IT SO THEY GAVE IT BACK HAVING DRIVEN IT 100 MILES AND TAKEN A QUARTER TANK OF GAS DOING SO. I HAVEN'T DRIVEN THE VEHICLE MUCH DUE TO THE PANDEMIC BUT YESTERDAY THE THIRD OCCURENCE HAPPENED IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND WE WERE ALMOST REAR ENDED AT 65 MPH DUE TO THIS FAILURE.

THE JEEP MAKES A LOUD POPPING NOISE WHEN PLACING IT INTO ANY GEAR AND YOU CAN FEEL A PUSH FORWARD. I TOOK THE JEEP INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM. FIRST THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE IT HAPPEN TO THEM AND I NEEDED ME TO COME IN AND SHOW THEM. WHEN I GOT THERE AND SHOWED THEM AND THE MECHANIC FIRST THOUGHT IT COULD BE SOMETHING AND PUT IT UP TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN. HE MADE IT REPEAT THE POPPING AND LURCHING MOVEMENT MULTIPLE TIMES THEN CAME BACK AND SAID ALL JEEPS DO THIS AND IT IS NORMAL. BUT NOW IT IS WORSE AND IT IS ALSO POPPING AND LURCHING WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND SPEEDING UP.

PURCHASED A 2019 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 1 MONTH AGO THAT HAD LESS THAN 3,000 MILES ON IT. YESTERDAY WHEN DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, WE WERE GOING ROUGHLY 40 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE CAR CAME OUT OF GEAR AND LOST ALL POWER TO THE WHEELS. PULLED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP . HAD VEHICLE FLATBEDDED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THE TRANS HAD TO BE MANUALLY DISENGAGED TO GET OF THE TOW VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE HAS 4,000 MILES ON IT.
Mileage: 4,000
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND ROUGH. MAINLY SHUTTERS THE ENTIRE CAR WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANS DOWNSHIFTS FROM 3-2-1 GEARS. VERY NOTICABLE FROM 2-1 GEAR. WILL ALMOST SURGE/JUMP THE CAR FROM THESE TWO GEARS. THIS CAN BE A HAZARD AS IF I WAS TO STOP FAST IT WILL JERK THE ENTIRE CAR AND ALMOST LUNGES THE CAR FORWARD WHEN DOING SO. THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT JULY 27TH, 2019, WITH 2K MILES ON IT. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND OF COARSE THEY DENY ANY ISSUE AS THEY WOULD BE OUT THOUSANDS OF LABOR DOLLARS IF THEY WERE TO FIX 1 CAR. SO IT'S TOO EASY FOR THEM TO PASS OFF THAT IT'S FINE.
