Issue has occurred at least 4 times: upon start, vehicle infotainment system appears in Italian language (difficult to revert to English as menu controls are now in a foreign language). Forward Collision OFF warning light illuminates on dash. Vehicle settings show all forward collision warning systems are ON. Servicing dealership has not identified any Diagnostic Trouble Codes with forward collision warning systems. Only way to reset system is dealer service via propriety manufacturer software. My vehicle is subject to active recall 68C involving high-voltage battery fire risk in Jeep 4xe vehicles. Manufacturer has confirmed recall applies to this vehicle, but no remedy is currently available. I have been instructed to limit charging and parking due to risk of thermal event/fire. This creates an ongoing safety risk to myself, family, my home, nearby properties and others. My vehicle remains in use without a permanent fix.

Dec 31, 2025

The vehicle has experienced recurring safety-related issues associated with the hybrid electrical and propulsion systems. During normal operation, warning messages related to the hybrid system appeared, and the vehicle entered reduced functionality or became unreliable to operate. These conditions created concern about potential loss of propulsion while driving. In addition to propulsion concerns, the vehicle was subject to manufacturer recalls related to the high-voltage battery system, including warnings regarding battery overheating and potential fire risk. Recall-related service was performed by an authorized dealer; however, safety concerns persisted after service was completed, and confidence in the safe operation of the vehicle was not restored. The ongoing nature of the electrical and hybrid system issues, combined with recall notices involving battery fire risk, created a safety concern for continued use of the vehicle, particularly due to the possibility of vehicle malfunction or battery-related hazards during normal operation or while parked. No crash or injury occurred, but the condition raised ongoing safety concerns. The issue has occurred more than once and was not permanently resolved despite dealer inspection and recall-related service.

My 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has an active safety recall (#68C – 2020–2025 JL & 2022–2026 WL) related to the battery/electrical system. The dealership informed me that Stellantis does not have a repair or remedy available and does not expect parts until at least April 2026, possibly longer. This means the vehicle cannot be repaired, sold, or traded for over a year. I have been without the car since July 2025, since the last recall B273C-00 – Digital Crash, and now this recall, and have incurred rental costs, insurance, and additional car payments due to loss of use. This is a serious safety concern, and the extended delay is causing significant financial hardship. I am requesting NHTSA review the manufacturer’s delay in providing a remedy for this recall.

How many recalls does one vehicle get in 2 years of ownership get before they take car back? This is the absolute worst vehicle I have ever owned at $64,100 price tag. We went through this battery recall last year at this time and could not use hybrid system for 5 months and had to park outside until recall was performed and god forbid you take grandkids anywhere in it, and with all the countless other problems that are so speratic they cannot fix.Recall number 95B, when weather was finally warm enough for them to perform the diagnostics on it, it was deemed okay. Now I get another recall for same thing and once again it is a fire hazard again and no fix is available according to recall info. So people are suppose to drive around in a $64,100 vehicle that could go on fire and cannot park in garage or use hybrid system for its intended use. Tonight s weather is suppose to be -10 degrees F in Iowa and we keep having problems with the heater blowing cold air and have taken it to dealership for total of 10 days trying to figure this problem out with no resolve yet. When does someone finally say is enough is enough? They have had my Jeep in their dealership 34 days total not counting recalls trying to resolve why the power steering goes out and all safety devices are offline and nnobody can resolve these issues so it is a total crap shoot every time you start it up! The fire hazard thing really bothers me being a past fireman and nobody seems to care, just park your car away from flammable material and structure, are you kidding me! What happens when you have kids and grandkids in this car? Somebody ha to help us! Internet is flooded with these problems with Jeep 4XE. Please help us out of this situation because Stellantis and dealerships do not care! You want your family riding this crap when heat does not work and windows fog over or start on fire while your driving or its sitting in driveway while you sleep? I tried to Lemon Law this last year so I have 70 plus docume

Driving home and car had a sudden loss of power randomly while driving. It would not restart until 5-10 minutes later despite multiple start/stop attempts. On the screen it stated to “plug in to condition battery.” We were in the left lane on a busy road with construction and were almost rear ended multiple times while car was not functional. Have had multiple issues with battery on this 4xe - did recent software update at dealer. I have taken it to dealer previously for battery code (service battery) and they stated they can see code, but unsure of what problem is. No warning lights prior to incident. It sounds like through reviewing on internet this is a common problem with 4xe vehicles and if it hasn’t killed someone yet, it certainly will. We did call 911 for assistance due to the vehicle being disabled in middle of highway, but no official report was made.

Yesterday, I had been traveling on the turnpike and was attempting to merge back on from a rest area when the Jeep entered "turtle" or "limp" mode without warning, indicating a failure of the hybrid system. The speed dropped instantly to 2mph and the engine kept revving, generating dark exhaust and a concerning smell (hot, different from regular vehicle exhaust smell). Eventually I was able to move back into the parking area and needed to be towed. I have yet to have it evaluated by a dealership as they are closed today. Following multiple previous hybrid system recalls since purchasing the vehicle Oct 2022, I've experienced numerous malfunctions of the hybrid system (taking it to the dealership multiple times to be evaluated after the "wrench" service hybrid electric system warning showed) over the last 6 months. Each time I've been told a "software reset fixed it" by the dealership. The problems with this hybrid system have been increasing in severity. Currently two recalls are in place due to these hybrid system issues (remedy not available). This was a scary, dangerous experience and I have no confidence in Stellantis resolving this issue.

The vehicle was towed to the local dealer on several occasions, where the ECM and an unknown module were replaced. In addition, the system was restarted; however, the failures persisted, and the local dealer related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System); however, parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the local dealer, exposed to the weather for approximately 3 months. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,300.

Earlier this spring, when we started our 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the language had changed itself to Italian, the units were metric, the ‘Forward Collision’ off icon was stuck on the dashboard. Also the paddle shifters did not work. In May, 2025, we paid $204.41 to Gary Mathews Motors in Clarksville, TN to ‘diagnose’ and ‘fix’ the issue. Fast forward to this month, and the issue happened again! They didn’t ‘fix’ anything. See forum where HUNDREDS of other owners are experiencing the same exact issues: [XXX] Also see Star bulletin regarding this issue: [XXX] From what I can see in the forums, there is no permanent fix for this issue. Despite this, Jeep/Stellantis keeps charging customers to ‘diagnose’ and ‘fix’ the issue which is a scam/fraud since they know there is no permanent fix. I have reached out to Jeep, and been promised follow-up from one of their specialists that never comes. I have all transcripts and promised timelines to expect follow up that never happen. I will attach photos where they admit they haven’t met the timeline for follow up that was communicated, and as of now, despite additional promises of communication/follow up I still have not heard from them. Having a forward collision system that does not function properly puts myself and others at risk. Also having a dash in units/language you do not understand is also a safety issue. I was driving home from work and all of a sudden I am pushing the gas pedal down but unable to go faster. I lost complete power. The car was in gas mode at the time of incident. I could not start the car or move the dial from park, neutral, etc... I had to get out of the car lock it, get back in and I was able to start and go straight to the dealership.

Hello, I am reaching out to formally escalate an ongoing safety concern with my vehicle’s reverse guidance system, which continues to malfunction despite multiple service visits. This issue directly affects my ability to safely operate the vehicle and creates a daily hazard while backing up. I have already taken my vehicle to the dealership multiple times, and each attempt has failed to resolve the problem long-term. I have also contacted Jeep Corporate and was assigned Case Number, which has since been escalated to a case manager. However, the issue remains unresolved, and I am no closer to a permanent fix. This problem is especially concerning given the recent Jeep recalls involving camera, rear-visibility, and electrical/software issues. The recurring malfunction in my reverse guidance system appears to be directly aligned with the types of failures documented in these recalls, further reinforcing that this is not an isolated defect. At this time, I am requesting the following: 1.Immediate review and escalation of my case. 2.A definitive corrective action plan to permanently repair the reverse guidance system. 3.Confirmation on whether my vehicle qualifies for any recall-related repairs, software updates, or component replacements related to rear-visibility systems. 4.If the issue cannot be corrected, I am requesting that Jeep explore goodwill options, including replacement or repurchase consideration, given the repeated failures and ongoing safety risk. I have been patient throughout this process, but the unresolved malfunction of a critical safety system is unacceptable. Please respond as soon as possible with next steps. Thank you, [XXX] [XXX] [[email protected]] Vin [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

This vehicle is subject to Safety Recall 68C for battery fire risk. The manufacturer issued a directive to park outside away from structures and do not charge the vehicle due to extreme fire risk. Despite having an open case with Jeep, there have been three failed supervisor callbacks with no resolution provided. The remedy is not yet available. The owner refuses to drive this vehicle and refuses to allow his wife to drive it due to serious safety concerns. If the car catches fire while she is driving, there is fear she will not have enough time to protect herself. This is an extremely scary and dangerous situation for the family. Additionally, the owner fears the house could catch fire while sleeping because of this vehicle parked nearby, even following the manufacturer's parking directive. This recall creates an impossible hardship - the vehicle cannot be safely driven or charged, yet no buyback or replacement has been offered. The vehicle was recently purchased in December 2024 and now sits unusable at 39,000 miles due to this unresolved safety defect. The manufacturer has failed to provide a timely remedy despite multiple contact attempts. A full vehicle buyback or replacement with a non-affected model is the only acceptable resolution to this extreme safety risk.

The system has many errors, The primary issue is the forward collision warning indicator light is on showing that the service is off. But it isn't, you can go into the system settings and turn the service on and off without issue. The light stays on. It does work as far as I can tell also. It seems to be causing the paddle shifting to be disabled. I can't downshift going down a steep grade and am being required to use by brakes. Which can be very dangerous. It is causing another issue that I cannot recall at the moment. There is another issue with the settings of the vehicle randomly changing to Euro type metric settings. The clock changing to 24 hour, tire pressure changing to kpa? mph changing to kph, all the different unit of measurements changing over. Randomly, not at the same time but consistently every few weeks. At first it seemed like it was connected to a monthly software update, but now its random. The vehicle has been taken to a Jeep dealership in Sherman, tx about the issue of the Forward collision system and they fixed it. Then the problem reappeared a month afterward. I've called and they confirm that the correct US software is installed. I am the only driver of the vehicle, so no one else is changing the settings. I work a full time 9-5 job and do not work close to a dealership, which has become an issue for these matters. All the issues I have had with the vehicle seem to be related to them updating the software without my approval. Currently my vehicle has 71k miles on it and won't be covered by the 50k warranty. The warning light issue started after 50k miles.

Randomly, & without warning, the instrument cluster & Uconnect display will glitch and flicker off then on but switch into language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with language switch, instrument cluster & radio display settings revert back to default settings, paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu option to enable), forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change & menu option to switch units back to Fahrenheit gone, auto tilting mirrors in reverse off . ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions &gauges that change while driving & the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, & the complexity of finding & navigating menus to try to wade through all the settings menus &change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp and temp units). I have taken it to the dealer for diagnostic, they found no error codes but found service bulletin S210800193 and S2108000221 performed IPC Customer programmable features Configuration to temporarily correct the issue, but it happened again 3 weeks later. I had to pay $254 for this service, and the issue isn't fixed. Here is an example forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/forward-collision-warning-off-light-is-stuck-on.250301/#replies Many people on the forum believe this issue did not start until a software update a year or so ago. This is a well known and widespread problem, and there is even a DOT Bulletin on the issue: dot.report Bulletins https://dot.report/bulletins/11006236 Because this is dangerous and very distracting while driving (for settings/gauges/units to no longer be useful while driving), and it occurs randomly, I strongly believe this issue should be a manufacturer recall. I am available for any needs.

On September 17th I was driving approximately 65-70MPH on the freeway when the dashboard flashed the "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warning and icon. My vehicle lost forward momentum and I slowed at a very rapid pace. I pressed on the gas and the vehicle switched over to the gas system, regained power and I was able to drive without further incident that day. I feel like I could have crashed on the highway and gotten injured, or injured someone else! On October 11th I was driving in a restaurant parking lot, approximately 5 miles per hour and starting to idle when the vehicle dashboard flashed the "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warning and icon. This time ,the vehicle shifted itself to park suddenly and I received an alert to press the brake to turn the vehicle off. After several attempts, I was able to turn the car off and back on again. I have an appointment on October 17 for the issue to be looked at by the dealership. This is a 4xe with only 40k miles on it.

The car will cut off and loose power due to the battery issue It has been in the shop 5 or 6 times for this issue and some of the stays were over 30 days at a time They said they have no fix for the repair needed not to drive it but no one can make payments on a car and not drive it for months waiting on a repair. They refused to buy the car back or replace it with a new one.

The electrical system of this vehicle is causing several issues putting the safety of me, my passengers and drivers around me at risk. Starting at 6,300 miles the vehicle had a temporary loss of power steering. After parking for a day the power steering returned, leading me to believe it was caused by an electrical/software code issue. There was a safety recall for the battery pack starting on fire while parked, driving or charging. No fix was available for quite a while and I could not charge the car or park in the garage. Shortly after having the computer updated to stop it from spontaneously catching fire I have been getting a warning light saying to maintenance the hybrid system, and is accompanied with a momentary loss of propulsion. This happens without warning every 150 miles or so. The dealership said it had a ‘digital crash’ code and was not able to reproduce, but I have video evidence of the warning lamp coming on and then clearing itself. There is now a safety recall issued for this exact problem with no fix available at this time. There are no warning lamps in advance of these issues occurring, only concurrent to the issue happening. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Past experience tells me I could lose propulsion and/or steering at any time. I need to drive to work, it is unrealistic to not drive my vehicle until a resolution is found for the current round of safety recalls. I am afraid this vehicle is going to kill someone.

Sep 23, 2025

While driving 65-70mph on the Interstate, my car seemed to have lost power. When I looked at the dash, a red wrench was displayed with a message to have the hybrid electrical system serviced. I pressed down on the accelerator, nothing happened. I immediately started to move into the right lanes since traffic was moving fast. I didn’t want to get hit or cause an accident. By the time I coasted into the far right lane my car seemed to have recovered and reacted appropriately when I pressed on the accelerator. Since this incident, the red wrench and message have flashed on my dashboard at least five more times, but thank goodness I haven’t lost power again. I am taking it into the dealer for inspection. It has not been inspected by anyone yet, but I am afraid to drive it.

The vehicle experienced repeated propulsion loss and powertrain malfunction while driving, creating a serious safety risk. This defect has now been formally acknowledged by FCA/Stellantis through NHTSA Recall 25V576 (filed on September 4, 2025). Prior to the recall, I raised these safety concerns through the NCDS arbitration program, but my case was closed despite documentation of the defect. The arbitration program stated the matter was “resolved,” even though I had rejected the arbitrator’s decision and the case was procedurally closed without binding resolution. After the recall was issued, I requested that my case be reopened under NCDS Rule 20, which allows refiling when new or material evidence is presented. That request was denied, leaving me without a remedy despite the existence of an active recall for the exact defect I had reported. The safety issue remains ongoing. The vehicle has lost propulsion multiple times while in motion, creating risk of collision. Warning messages have appeared on the dashboard prior to failure, and the issue has been reproduced at service centers. This matter highlights both the safety hazard of the defect itself and a procedural concern: consumers may be denied meaningful remedies even after safety recalls are issued.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V576000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while the vehicle was idling in a parking lot, the contact attempted to accelerate, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact was unable to move the gear shifter, and the vehicle could not be turned off. The Service Hybrid System and the Battery Failure warning lights were illuminated. The failure lasted for 45 minutes to an hour before the vehicle started functioning properly, and the warning lights were no longer illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure occurred a second time and lasted for a shorter while. The Service Hybrid System warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. While at the deal, it became known that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V576000 (Electrical System); however, there was no part available for the recall repair. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 20,900.

On September 11, 2025 the car was in electric mode. Upon turning on the air it gave a message that electric mode was unavailable for Cooling or Heating. It also made knocking sounds like something was loose. It is still giving the error as of September 16, 2025 and I can't drive in electric mode with the AC or defroster on. Does not matter what speed or if the car is parked, it gives the same error.

Sep 17, 2025

Issue Summary: My vehicle repeatedly shuts off electric mode after displaying a warning message: “Service Hybrid Electrical Vehicle System” followed by “Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable.” Also, sometimes there is a jerking/short loss of power while the engine cuts on that is not smooth Service History: The vehicle has been in the shop multiple times for this issue. On March 10, 2025 and August 18, 2025, I brought it to Butler Jeep in Beaufort, SC. The dealership identified Star Case [XXX] (dated August 2024). However, as of September 2025, no fix has been provided by the manufacturer. A later revision (Rev C, dated January 2025) to the same star case was also reviewed, but the problem persists with no resolution. Additional Observations: When this error occurs, both my defroster and heater stop working. This creates a safety hazard, as I may not be able to properly defog or defrost the windshield. Concern: The manufacturer is not addressing this issue in a timely manner, despite multiple service visits and documented technical service cases. The recurring failure impacts both the safety and intended functionality of the vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure occurred a second time weeks later. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to conclusively provide a diagnostic result, but tentatively related the failure to a software error within the hybrid control processor. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V576000 (Electrical System). The VIN was included, but parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 26,000.

We've had the red lightening bolt with wrench warning light go off a dozen times since April 2025. 1st time we were setting in traffic after 100+ mile drive down the interstate.i It sounded like the transmission had dropped into part. My wife thought the car behind us had ran into us. I have had it to the dealer many times about this. They tell me the can't duplicate the red warning light going off so there's nothing they can do. I know I'm not the only one. I see post after post on forums about this problem. Hopefully the new recall will take care of the red lightening bolt (Electronic Throttle Control system) warning light.it happening more often since the 1st. It just went off today 9/15/25. Was going slow and didn't loss of power but other times when running down Hwy you definitely notice loss of power.

This vehicle has had multiple recalls. Anytime that I call in to get serviced. I receive one of these responses from their service department: they can’t replicate the issue, if the lights that came on are no longer on they cannot tell what the problem was, or they fixed it. I’ve had multiple calls and service request with the dealership as well with Stalantas and Chrysler capital. I have pictures of different lights that go off in the dashboard whether it’s the hybrid service whether it’s engine hot, whether it’s the driver assist not working, “vehicle ready to drive”while it’s been driving a while, other issues that I’ve had regarding the components in the vehicle the AC and heat not working properly where you can have it on heat and it doesn’t heat anything or you can have it on AC and it doesn’t cool anything. And then it fixes itself and it starts to work again a few days later. The center screen goes blank sometimes. The radio button on and off sometimes it does not turn on. Sometimes when in reverse the safety system will go off and abruptlystop the car when there is nothing behind it. Currently the vehicle is at the local dealership department in their service department because of a blown gasket, also a known recall per previous research. The only department to inspect the vehicle is JT‘s service department local Jeep Dodge ram dealership have placed numerous calls to manufacture, trying to get them to buy back vehicle.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V576000(Electrical System). An unknown dealer was contacted; however, the contact was informed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about parts availability. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds occasionally, the vehicle lost motive power for several seconds before resuming normal functionality. Additionally, the message “Service Hybrid System” remained illuminated until the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

On September 10th, 2025, at approximately 7:45am, I was driving my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe at 57 mph on the freeway during heavy traffic. The “Service Hybrid Electrical System” warning appeared, and the vehicle immediately stalled and forced itself into emergency park while in motion. This sudden failure created a severe safety hazard for myself and surrounding drivers. I experienced an anxiety attack from the incident and had to call my husband for help. This is not the first time the vehicle has stalled, but it is the most dangerous occurrence to date. This vehicle is unsafe and poses a life-threatening risk on public roads.

Sep 9, 2025

Was driving with the kids in the car, all of our safety was put at risk when the warning lamp came on and then the gear shift system malfunctioned. It said service hybrid system then went away. This is the third time this has happened. I had to pull over and got honked at by cars that had to stop to avoid hitting us. The problem has been confirmed by today's announcement over the impending recall for this exact issue. The component has not been inspected, I am scared to drive it to the dealer.

Sep 5, 2025

I leased a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. The main failure involves the hybrid electrical system, which repeatedly malfunctions. The most serious issue is that the vehicle will suddenly stall while driving, without warning, leaving me and my children stranded in the middle of traffic. This creates an extreme safety risk, as it has happened in intersections and nearly caused accidents with other vehicles, including a semi-truck. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed multiple times by the dealership. Despite numerous service visits, no permanent fix has been provided. FCA/Stellantis representatives have acknowledged there is not yet a repair for this ongoing defect. The vehicle has also failed to charge on several occasions, displaying “Service Charging System” and “Service Hybrid Electrical System” warnings. I have documentation, work orders, and photos/videos of these repeated issues. The dealer and manufacturer have been unable to repair the vehicle within a reasonable time. Warning messages such as “Service Hybrid Electrical System” first appeared within months of leasing the vehicle, and they continue to reappear unpredictably. Because of these defects, my safety and the safety of my three young children have been placed at significant risk every time the vehicle stalls or refuses to charge.

I’ve got a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe with about 55,000 miles on it. Earlier this year (2025) I started getting a dashboard warning - a red wrench icon with a lightning bolt with a message “service hybrid electric vehicle system”. The message would appear for about five seconds then disappear. Nothing showed up in the notices under Vehicle … System and there were no problems operating the vehicle. It is a plug-in hybrid. I continued to charge the vehicle at my home 40-amp charger. The first few times it happened I ignored it. After a third message I started worrying and contacted the dealership. \\\\n\\\\nI brought the Vehicle in for service on Tuesday July 22. The dealer diagnosed a digital crash code B273C-00. They recommended a repair as described in TSB is 08-116-25 REV. A for the Wrangler 4xe, saying the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee have identical systems, however, the repair is covered under warranty only for the Wrangler. I approved the repair and paid about $600. I've asked Jeep (via the Jeep Cares service, case 93915325) to consider covering the repair and refunding me. \\\\n\\\\nSince getting the car back 2 weeks ago I've put on about 1,200 miles and the message has not recurred. I won't be persuaded the problem is fixed until after about 6 months of driving. \\\\n\\\\nOther owners who have had digital crash messages on the Jeep Cherokee have experienced loss of power, systems failure and similar problems and advised me to report my incident, so I have in case it will help improve the safety of the vehicle.

On April 12th my husband and I were driving our Jeep after it had a recall and update to fix the recall of a battery issue on all 4xE models. We were doing 45 mph down the road and it threw an error code that said “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System”, “Service Emergency Braking System” the Jeep then shut off and said for us to push the brake and press start for us to turn the car on in the middle of the road. We were able to safely get off the road, when we came to a stop the car put itself into park automatically. We had to start it a couple of times to make sure it was ok to turn around and drive home. It was then towed to the dealership. They told us they could see the issue logged in the system but they could not replicate the same issue after driving it. They told us that we had to come and pick up the Jeep and I told them how unsafe that made me feel for us and everyone on the road. They told us there’s nothing they could do for us. We got the car back and another issue arose where are Passive Entry Switch became corroded and our car kept unlocking itself throughout the night. The day we got it back from them we were driving it and we got the same “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System” again. So I brought our Jeep back again and they told me in the service department they’ve been working with the engineers at Jeep and they are waiting for an update to fix it and it’s one of four in the area with this issue and Jeep is fully aware of the severity of the issue. They also told me they would be holding on to our car until it’s fixed. I was called by the head of the service department at that dealership and was told they need their loaner car back and they got word they’ll maybe have a fix for our car in November. They knowingly gave us our completely unsafe Jeep back and told us to try for Lemon Law - with all parties knowing the severity of the security and lives put at risk on the road. We have gotten this error code many times and are told there is no fix

The entire Jeep failed. Every light, warning, service, etc came up when cranking, and then it went dead. Now, it will not crank at all. Additionally, the trunk will not open and no power pops up on dashboard or display. This is put my family at risk due to the vehicle being parked next to my home with a possible shortage. No one has confirmed or checked, due to it being a Saturday. No warning was given prior.

Aug 14, 2025

Check engine light came on. Took my jeep in and was told it was a software issue and not safe to drive. Chrysler will not let the service department release me my car until it is updated and fixed, which has no time line currently

Aug 11, 2025

While driving, the vehicle suddenly shuts down without any prior warning. When this happens, I lose steering and braking capabilities until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The vehicle must then be towed to the service center, where they reset the fault codes in the computer system and return the vehicle to me. There are two recurring diagnostic trouble codes associated with this issue: Digital Crash Input HCP Code The manufacturer and dealership have stated they have no solution for this defect and have advised me to continue driving the vehicle despite the unresolved safety problem. This defect is extremely dangerous — I have been in several situations where I was nearly involved in an accident when the vehicle shut down during motion.

Aug 8, 2025

The hybrid battery had the potential to catch fire and it was recalled for a software update, the 95b update. After this software update was completed, the vehicle would completely shut down, regardless of being parked or while driving. The dealership deemed the vehicle "unsafe to drive" and has provided a loaner until they can correct the problem. In addition to this, the front suspension has been worked on many times, approximately 5-6 times to remedy a clinking noise when turning at full turn. Currently, they have not been able to remedy this problem. The manufacturer has refused to do a buy back on the vehicle, yet also refuses to give the vehicle back due to, in their words; "It is unsafe to drive".

Aug 6, 2025

While driving on the freeway, the vehicle suddenly lost all power and control. The “Service Hybrid System” warning began flashing, and I experienced a complete powertrain failure. As the vehicle coasted down to under 5 mph, it abruptly slammed into the electronic parking brake and came to a hard stop. This created a serious safety hazard not only for me but for other drivers on the road. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership, where it required a jump-start to regain power. The dealer has been unable to replicate the issue, and no diagnostic trouble codes were found during their scan. Despite this, the failure was severe and unpredictable. There were no warning lights or symptoms prior to the event. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection.

Aug 6, 2025

Multiple warnings with the service hybrid system alert coming on the dash. Code B273C-00 was confirmed by the technician at the Napleton Jeep service department. Vehicle can shut off at any time at any speed and there is no resolution at this time to fix the issue. When accelerating over uneven surfaces, the vehicle bucks back and forth violently. This concern was verified with the technician at Napleton Jeep. The shop Foreman contacted Chrysler zone engineering and confirmed that they are aware of this issue but there is no current resolution for this issue. This is highly dangerous when pulling out into traffic.

Aug 5, 2025

Car completely shut off while saying the electrical hybrid system needed to be serviced. Car turned back on and light was off. Check engine light going on and off as well. When going lower speeds the cars rpms rev all the way up, almost to the red, and while your pressing the gas doesn’t move but then jerks and goes forward. Your head slams into the seat and it’s extremely unsafe especially if you are in stop and go traffic. The car has been spitting and sputtering. Brought it to the dealership I just purchased it from, I’ve only made one payment. They stated that Chrysler is aware of the problem but that there is no solution as of right now. Extremely unsafe to drive and do not feel safe with my daughter in the car with the car jerking forward and being delayed with the gas and rpms increasing.

Aug 5, 2025

On three different occasions, the Jeep randomly turned off on its own. Each time I was stopped, so thankfully I was not injured. I brought it to two different dealerships, one in May 2025 and one in July 2025, and neither of them could fix it. The last dealership advised me not to drive the vehicle due to the safety implications of a stall during driving due to "the digital crash input issue". As a result, I sold my Jeep and bought another vehicle. The vehicle was still under warranty when I sold it.

Jul 31, 2025

Total loss of power while driving I got a red wrench hybrid system warning light when driving at 45 MPH. The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE lost all power and a warning that told me to pull over when it was safe. The total loss of power almost cause an accident. I waiting a few minutes and the vehicle started up and I drove home. I am reluctant to drive the vehicle.

Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. Car has a defective hybrid battery that is unrepairable by manufacturer and the vehicle will turn off while driving

Jul 19, 2025

While driving on the highway the vechile showed a hybrid error on dashboard then completely shut down. In order to move I had to stop and restart the car.

Jul 18, 2025

While driving the vehicle, several warning lights activated, the first being automatic emergency braking is disabled. The second warning light advised me to not turn the car off until I got to my destination. It further advised that I would not be able to shift gears. The vehicle began to slow down on its own until it came to a complete stop. I was in the middle of an intersection when this happened. The dashboard was displaying a message saying press brake and push button to start car. Nothing happened when I did that. I could not shift gears or get the vehicle to move at all. Even though, I was getting the message to push the button to start the vehicle, I believe the vehicle was actually on. I was stuck near the intersection for one hour with a tow truck on the way when I was finally able to turn the e vehicle off. When it turned back on, the check engine light was on and the vehicle was able to drive. It has now happened three times.

Vehicle suffers from a documented hybrid defect (DTC B273C-00) that causes loss of electric propulsion, disables hybrid modes, and triggers "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warnings. The problem first appeared around Feb 2025 and was confirmed by FCA’s own STAR bulletins and dealership diagnostics. No validated fix exists; dealership only cleared the fault code temporarily. The defect led to: • Power loss during highway merge on [XXX], with children in the car • Sudden unintended acceleration on [XXX] • Persistent warnings and failure to operate in advertised hybrid/electric modes for over 120+ days FCA refused to repurchase, replace, or permanently repair, despite acknowledging the defect and safety risk in internal documents. The vehicle remains in ICE-only mode, depriving it of the key safety and efficiency features it was designed to provide. The defect significantly raises risk of collision due to unpredictable propulsion response, and no dealership or FCA representative provided written certification the vehicle is safe in all drive modes. Vehicle purchased in Wisconsin but always registered and operated exclusively in Illinois. Arbitration through NCDS confirmed the defect exists but denied relief, citing insufficient corroboration. Problem was reproduced and confirmed by certified dealership and documented in service records. This complaint is part of an ongoing concern that hybrid system EMI issues (like DTC B273C-00) pose systemic safety risk and remain unresolved. The vehicle will suddenly and without warning lose power while in operation in the middle of traffic. The vehicle will coast to a stop without power, no power steering, no power braking, etc. This is an extreme safety concern. The vehicle losing power in traffic and coming to stop poses serious and great risk to the health and safety of both the occupants and any other vehicles and their occupants on the roadway. This has now occurred multiple times, due to the inability of FCA to repair this defect, my family’s health and safety has been repeatedly endangered and will continue to be endangered with continued use of this vehicle. The most recent occurrence of the vehicle losing power and jeopardizing the life, health, and safety of my family occurred on May 9th, 2025 with the service appointment initiated May 10th, 2025. At this time no further repair attempt has been made by FCA. FCA has finally admitted that this is related to code B273C

Red wrench dash warning comes on alerting an issue with the hybrid electrical system. It has been diagnosed by the dealer multiple times with no resolution and warning it could be related to various emergency systems. This has been ongoing since the potential battery fire software update several months ago. Jeep acknowledges the problem but has no fix for it.

Without warning or being given an option to reject the update, my vehicle was updated to settings that no longer offer paddle shifting or the ability to enable or disable the Pedestrian Emergency Braking (PEB) system. Dear NHTSA, I am writing to report a serious concern regarding my vehicle’s sunroof drainage system. Recently, a professional repair shop confirmed that the sunroof drain hose had become disconnected behind the firewall. As a result, water leaked into the interior of the vehicle and caused extensive corrosion to major electrical components, including the wiring harness and fuse box located behind the dashboard. The shop provided an estimate of approximately $5,000 to repair the damage, all directly related to water intrusion from this detached hose. At no point was I ever informed—by the manufacturer, dealership, or in the owner’s manual—that the sunroof drain hose required any type of regular maintenance or inspection. This lack of guidance left me completely unaware of any risk of disconnection or the potential for serious water damage as a result. I am also aware that there was a class-action lawsuit a few years ago related to defective sunroof drainage systems in certain vehicle models, which caused similar issues. Given the similarity in symptoms and consequences, I believe this may point to a broader pattern or design flaw that puts other vehicle owners at risk as well. I respectfully ask that NHTSA investigate this matter as a potential safety or design defect. I am happy to provide photos, shop documentation, or additional details upon request. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

In January work related to recall 95B was performed on the Jeep. The next day the issues started with a warning light indicating the Hybrid System needed service. The Jeep has been in repair for this issue 6 times and over 56 days with no resolution. It is currently in for repair. A buy back request was made but both FCA and the arbitrators indicate it is not a safety concern. There are safety concerns related to the Warning light as it appears to impact electrical communications in the vehicle. Repair notes indicate the communication issues. Also, power steering has stopped working and the engine has died while driving causing a rapid deceleration. Multiple users are reporting the same issues or additional impact related to the Hybrid warning light that started after 95B work.

Last week I was driving 70MPH on the highway when suddenly I got the red wrench icon with the message "Service Hybrid Electrical System" on the dashboard. After about 7 seconds I then got a "Put foot on brake and press start" message on the screen - while still going 70MPH on the highway. At that point the car died. I had no power - the accelerator pedal did nothing. Luckily, I was able to pull over to the shoulder and stop. Then I did what it said and pressed the brake + start button. The car came back to life, but I didn't have the full hybrid system - I only had gas - the car was not using any electrical power as the battery level remained constant and did not drop as I drove. I continued for another 20 minutes where I stopped for lunch. When I returned to the car it started up normally and continued to run normally after that. This is the 3rd of 4th time the red wrench icon with the Service Hybrid system warning coming up, but on the previous times the message went away after about 5 seconds and the car drove normally. This is the only time that it caused the car to completely die on my while on the highway. Apparently, this has been happening to a *lot* of people after Jeep issued a software update to address the 95b recall last year. Many owners are now afraid to drive their Jeep 4xe for fear of it suddenly dying on the highway at high speeds.

I am filing a complaint regarding repeated and dangerous safety failures with my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4xe, which I purchased as a brand-new vehicle on February 22, 2025. The most critical issue is that the vehicle has shut off on two separate occasions—once while in motion driving up a hill and once during a suspension height adjustment while stopped. In both cases, the engine powered down unexpectedly, a red wrench and lightning bolt warning appeared, and the vehicle shifted into park on its own. I was unable to restart the vehicle immediately, creating a severe hazard. These shutdowns were preceded or followed by system warnings including “Electric Mode Unavailable – Service Required,” “Active Driving Assist Unavailable,” “Night Vision Unavailable,” “Traffic Sign Assist Unavailable,” and “Tire Pressure Monitoring Unavailable.” These alerts began appearing within weeks of purchase and have persisted intermittently, sometimes alongside performance issues such as sudden jolts at highway speed. The CDJR dealership in Northern California and various manufacturer (Jeep/Stellantis) technical advisors have inspected the vehicle multiple times. A software defect has been identified and confirmed by Jeep, but no fix is available. A Technical Service Bulletin 08-003-25 dated January 8, 2025—before I purchased the vehicle—acknowledges this issue. Despite this, the vehicle was sold to me, and I was sent home with it multiple times even after reporting these failures. The dealership and manufacturer technical advisors now consider the vehicle unsafe to operate and will not return it until a software update is released. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection upon request. Supporting documentation including service records, warning light photos, and communications with Jeep Customer Care and the dealership, can be provided. I urge the agency to investigate this matter due to the confirmed safety risk and lack of timely resolution.

When driving down a busy road, the car completely stalled with loss of power steering, unable to accelerate or brake, power completely lost in car with all safety lights illuminated on the dashboard. Eventually brakes returned, able to stop car. Unable to restart and loss of power for windows. After several attempts, restarted car with warning lights still present- moved to side of Road. Currently at dealer for inspection- stated that problem was "digital crash input code failure" and that there is not a fix for this at this time. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Car stalled with complete loss of control in the middle of traffic, while accelerating at approximately 15-25 mph. This could have caused an accident, but luckily did not. However, car was stalled in traffic for about 30 mins and unable to move car at all- blocking traffic on busy street. If happened on highway, could have been much worse and also had the potential to cause an accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The problem was confirmed by dealer, and said that there is "no fix". According to them, all recalls have been fixed in this vehicle prior to incident and should have fixed this problem by replacing the battery. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Vehicle has been inspected by both dealership service and Chrysler/ Stellantis engineers. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There was 1 warning light message about "EV system hybrid control" needs service, but disappeared after 30 seconds and this appeared about 1 week prior to incident.

After software updates the language switches (English to Italian). The cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), the forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on stating that it is not working, with no way to fix, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. The head unit will randomly restart.

- I received a "service hybrid system" light while driving (it only appeared for a split second and went away) and I took it to the dealership for troubleshooting. The dealership found a stored code of B273C-00. They contacted their Jeep engineers who have not been forthcoming as to what the issue is, but said the vehicle is not safe to drive, so I am not allowed to have the vehicle back (the same dealership has a 2nd Grand Cherokee 4xe with the same issue). Both vehicles are currently at the dealership and should be available for inspection. From my online research it seems to be tied to the vehicle's crash sensor and high voltage cable harness. There are also numerous other owners in online forums discussing the same issue with their Jeeps (Grand Cherokees and Wranglers). -As Jeep engineers are not allowing myself or others to drive their vehicle with this code, they obviously consider it a safety issue. The scary thing to me is, that had I not happen to see that quick flash of the "service hybrid light" I would be driving this unsafe vehicle without knowing it, as it did not turn on the check engine light, so I had no idea there was a stored code until the dealer checked it out. That means there are probably thousands of folks driving around at risk without even know there is a safety issue. -This issue has apparently been going on for months, as the other Jeep at my dealership has there for months now.

My car was showing a "service hybrid system" warning light in the months of April and May 2025 intermittantly along with a slight loss of power. I took it to the dealership and was told its a software issue but it's fine. Stellantis is aware of this issue but there is no fix. I brought it back a week later with the same concerns and reading the document the dealership gave me - the 95B recall fix apparently crashed communication modules with my ORC. I expressed safety concerns. The dealership once again cleared codes and told me it was safe to drive. One week later on May 8, 2025, I was driving home from work. Without warning, the car locked up and went limp in the middle of the road. I went from 35mph to 0mph without seconds. I luckily was not rear ended. The dealership opened up another case with STAR. I have since gotten rid of the car due to continuous recalls and issues. I did not feel safe in this car and I feared for myself as well as others on the road. I am only taking the time to report this because there is no fix, my dealership repeadily gave the car back to me (in the notes, it was to be returned to me on 5/12 with no fix), and others are having the same issue.

While the vehicle is in operation, and without warning, it loses all motive power and coasts to a stop. A warning message is displayed on dash: “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System.” The vehicle must be turned off then back on before motive power is restored. This is an extreme safety issue, if it were to occur at highway speeds amidst traffic, the likelihood of serious accident is high. Jeep dealer service says this is a known issue with many Jeep 4xe vehicles right now and no fix is known. This event has reoccurred more than 4 times. The most recent was 5/9/25.

Potential fire risk related to the high-voltage battery pack. Our Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe had the battery recall done. The EV battery is discharging 25% each day when not in use. The temperature is 65 to 85 °f each day. I bought it into the Jeep Dealership and they had it for 19 days and did not address this issue. 25% discharging each day is a lot of energy and this is dangerous.

I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. Here is an example forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: [XXX] Many people on the forum believe this issue did not start until a software update a year or so ago. This is a well known and widespread problem, and there is even a DOT Bulletin on the issue: [XXX] Because this is dangerous (for settings/gauges/units to no longer be useful while driving), and it occurs randomly, I strongly believe this issue should be a manufacturer recall. I am available for any needs. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Once a week or so, the vehicle will experience motive power loss while driving. Typically, it's for 3 or 4 seconds and is accompanied by a blinking red "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warning light on the dashboard. This is very dangerous because for those 3 or 4 seconds, the vehicle will not accelerate/maintain speed. I've had the vehicle at the dealership for the same reason multiple times. The dealership has tried to identify the root cause but so far has not been successful.

Power lift gate will open and close by its self. I have had it looked at and the dealer said to report it as it’s a known issue and no recalls have been issued yet for this year. Have not had a fire yet on this vehicle. But was told it was leaking around the power liftgate control module.

My Jeep, when using adaptive cruise control, will occasionally apply emergency breaking when a vehicle passes alongside me in an adjacent lane in the same direction of travel. I’ve had other cars directly behind me when this happens and it appears to other drivers like I’m “break checking” them. Usually it’s triggered when the passing adjacent vehicle is a tractor trailer or a truck pulling a trailer. Furthermore, the actual early warning forward crash detection does not work at all. I have no warning lights alerting me of a malfunction.

My vehicles electrical system has completely stopped working due to a software update that Jeep is applying to their vehicles. For some reason my vehicle is not up for recall for this issue.

[XXX], I was driving down [XXX] toward Waynesboro GA, when the radio and dashboard lights started flashing. I assumed that maybe the truck system was resetting when all of a sudden the truck turned off, so I coasted into the middle turn lane on a two lane highway and then the truck filled with smoke from the air conditioning vent and underneath the dash so I attempted to exit the vehicle on the driver side. The truck would not start. Hazard lights would not work. Semi- trucks passing in both directions. My truck was then hit by debris from passing truck while truck was disabled in the middle of the road. The remaining 3 doors on the truck would not open. I had to have the car towed to the nearest Jeep dealership in Waynesboro GA. The dealership can't seem to figure out what's wrong with the truck but want to charge $900 to do a six hour diagnostic. I called Chrysler who is now sending out a third party to do a fire inspection but in the meantime I am out of a vehicle. In August 2023 a recall was issued for my vehicle (Recall 56A) for an issue with the Central Vision Park Assist Module. My CVPAM software was updated per the recall. As soon as this software was completed, my backup and forward facing camera has not functioned properly. Initially my backup camera guidelines disappeared and my forward facing camera guidelines would not turn off. My opened a "Star" case with Chrysler and worked on this issue for 3 months, replacing the camera, updating software, replacing two different camera modules and nothing would correct the issue. In November Chrysler told the dealer not to replace any more hardware and they acknowledged there was an issue with the software update that caused the problem. They informed my dealer that an update would come out to correct the issue in either a recall or a dealer notice. On [XXX] my backup camera and my front facing camera stopped working completely. I took my vehicle back to the dealer and they performed a diagnostic on the system. The same error codes were given to them as was before when only the guidelines were missing. My dealer opened another star case with Chrysler on 1/29/24 to look into the issue but as i write this complaint on 2/7/24 I have not received any additional info from my dealer or Chrysler as to when this issue will be corrected. I have been without a backup camera since [XXX] and I feel this is becoming a greater safety concern with all of the children in my neighborhood. The first occurrence was upon starting the vehicle in a parking lot. The death cluster lit up with power steering unavailable, airbags unavailable, autobrake disengaged, and the the battery warning. The dealership towed the vehicle and replaced the batteries. In April of ‘22 While driving the vehicle the power steering became unavailable, forcing a difficult left turn off a major roadway. The same warning lights came on and the vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed and a new power steering rack and steering gear were installed. Third occurrence was in the driveway recently when again upon starting the same warning lights were on and there was no power steering available. The vehicle is at the dealership now being inspected.

- Due to the use of soy-based wire insulation, a rodents nest was formed and found in the engine compartment. Wires were severely damaged from being chewed. The Electrical system failed with multiple open circuits. Evidently, the car has a design flaw. - Open circuits (exposed wires) pose a risk to the vehicle due to fire. Engine performance was rough due to the loss of some of the engine controls and the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module). - Vehicle was inspected by a dealer of the OEM - There was a check engine light, and loss of control electronics (Stop start system control, park assist control, etc. ). Problem first appeared on 11-27-2023.

Battery is not keeping power and vehicle stalled out while going 70 miles and vehicle wouldn’t power on for more than 10 mins even after charging battery. I am getting 12.0V while going 75 miles and i get 14.0 when I am stopped and parked. Had to have vehicle towed to dealership and they said they couldn’t recreate the issue. The dealer didn’t put my engine cover back and my vehicle is still not producing enough power.

Vehicle sets automatic brake when backing up. The back up camera turns red as if something was blocking when nothing is there. When attempting to go in reverse the car kept stoping on its own and putting the emergency break on. It took multiple attempts to get out of the parking lot and has happened more than once.

Two problems: 1- this happened twice, after shutting and exiting the vehicle with the key fob, the vehicle goes crazy, lights start flashing, horn honking and the doors auto lock - very dangerous as my child was locked in the car for a few minutes until i was able to play with the key enough to get it to unlock. problem #2 driving vehicle and as coming to slow down it auto shuts off in middle of road, when trying to put it back into gear it says put foot on break and restart the car. it did restart but it is super dangerous as the car behind me could've hit me as it suddenly stopped.
