I was driving down the interstate with my two babies in the car seats and all of a sudden all of the dash lights came on, and the power steering locked up. I was driving 70 miles per hour and had to pry my wheel as hard as i could to be able to pull over on the side of the interstate. Once I pulled over i turned the car off hoping it would reset whatever happened and the car was completely dead. It would not crank at all. I ended up having to call someone to come get me and my kids off the side of the interstate and tow the car to the dealership. this car has less than 70,000 miles on it and still is not fixed. It has been at the dealership for over 3 weeks with what they are telling me is electrical issues. I do not feel comfortable driving this car anymore as it is a safety hazard and could have gotten me and my children killed.
Forward collision warning. While attempting to make a left hand turn with a green arrow onto a busy highway, the car suddenly slammed to a stop almost causing a collision. The problem has not been reproduced as it hasn’t been driven again. It is not yet at the dealership. The vehicle has not been inspected. No warning lights prior to the problem.
Vehicle Purchased 05/27/2025 6/6/2025 - 9 days after purchasing the vehicle i was left stranded in the parking lot due to the battery issues. The vehicle showed a warning stating to "Service Charging System" and the entire system locked out and the vehicle was towed to to the dealer for evaluation and was there for over a week. When I received the car back they stated it was just the battery and not the charging system/hybrid system. 12/03/25 - While driving on the freeway, warning lights started coming up and the seat belt bell started going off even though everyone was buckled. Then my power steering was disabled, the ABS system was disabled and the breaks stiffened, lane assist was disabled, the airbags were disabled, and the SOS calling, and the engine shut off. When trying to change lanes we had to use extreme force to turn the wheel and the emergency lights wouldn't engage when the button was pressed. Due to the brakes being stiff beyond reason it took us passing 3 freeway exits to slow down enough to force the car off of the road. I had my children in the car and was terrified i was going to be in a crash or worse, lose control and veer off of the road. When i was able to pull off of the freeway, I was not able to drive as the car was continuing to shut off every few feet. I had to have my vehicle towed home and they next day when driving it to the dealer it was still without power steering, the ABS system, Airbags, the brake pedal was extremely stiff and the seatbelt bells were going off even though I had my seatbelt on from first getting into the car. Myself, my fiancé and our children's live were put at risk due to this vehicle failure. I picked my car up from the dealer today 12/5/2025 and they advised this was an issue with a connector that was replaced but the entire system had to be reset. I would also like to include that the vehicle now has an open recall that has no remedy and the dealer/Mfr. have yet to provide any updates.
This vehicle can create a fire. My home is at risk, other cars/structures parked near it, and people who drive the vehicle are at risk of fire. This is the 2nd time we have received notice of fire hazard for this make/model. The dealership is aware of the problems. check engine light stays on and nobody can figure out why. I cannot charge my car, park near anyone/anything, and constant fear of my car setting fire while driving it.
-What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Automatic breaks engaged for no reason. -How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? It could have caused someone to rear end me. -Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. -Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No -Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No
1) Vehicle lost power in traffic with no warning other then a dashboard red wrench 2) Rear collision warning does not work intermittently 3) Forward collision warning not operable 4) Rain sensing wipers do not work intermittently
I am filing this complaint regarding my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xE due to repeated and ongoing electrical system failures that present a serious safety hazard. Beginning in April 2025, the vehicle began displaying the warning “Service Hybrid Electrical System.” Shortly after the warning appears, the vehicle will often shut down completely while in operation. I have taken the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership on multiple occasions. Each time, I was informed that Jeep is aware of the defect but that no repair is available, as a required software update has not yet been released. In June 2025, I escalated the issue directly to Jeep. During this time, I experienced an incident in which the vehicle lost all power and shut down on a highway, creating a significant risk of collision. Jeep representatives acknowledged the defect as a known safety concern but advised that there was no available fix. Because I cannot afford to park the vehicle indefinitely, I have been forced to continue driving it despite the dangers. Jeep has only provided one month’s car payment as a “goodwill” gesture, which in no way addresses the underlying safety hazard. In September 2025, after seeing a news report about a recall affecting this model, I contacted Jeep again. Initially, Jeep denied that a recall had been issued. Only after I provided them with the recall notice did they confirm that a recall was in effect. To date, no remedy or repair timeline has been provided. This issue has persisted for several months. Jeep has admitted that the defect is a safety concern, yet they have failed to provide a safe and operable vehicle. I, my children, and other motorists have been placed at extreme risk due to Jeep’s inaction. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate Jeep’s handling of this defect, their delay in providing a remedy, and their failure to ensure that affected vehicles are safe to operate.

While driving, vehicle begins shifting down and jerking to stop. Emergency brake engages while driving.
Vehicle wouldn’t go into gear June 2025 was towed due to service engine, abs braking error, service hybrid error. Forward Collision system and rear collision system (Park sense) are malfunctioning/not operating properly. Dealer stated that it is a "known issue with no known fix." I had two incidents that almost resulted in accidents before I assumed that the system was not working properly. There a no warning lights or indicators showing faults with the systems.

While driving, the vehicle sends a message that the automatic cruise control has shut down, the car starts slowing down and doesn't respond to pressing on the gas. Only recourse is to move off to the side of the road, shut everything down and turn it back on. The batteries show two miles left on the electric system. This is the second occurrence. Both have occurred at highway speed.
The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe's Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system engaging while turning left when there was no car or pedestrian in front of us. This scared us as the car stopped in the middle of a large intersection putting us all in danger of potentially getting hit. The BRAKE message appeared followed by three loud beeps before the car applied full pressure on the breaks and brought the car to a full stop.
Was driving in a neighborhood and slowly turning at a 4 way stop, parking brake self engaged causing the car to slam to a stop and was unable to press gas. Had to put the car in park and restart (with shutoff for 30 seconds) before I could move and was stuck sitting in the middle of an intersection.
Starting at around 12k miles, my odometer started flashing and backup cameras completely stopped working, unable to see while backing up, at the same time the active lane management and auto emergency braking went out as well, took my car into the dealership and was told pam module was not good and covered under manufacturer warranty, even after pam module was replaced, the active lane management and auto emergency braking is still not working
This vehicle does not alert or activate forward collision warnings or automatic braking. Other reports from 2022-2023 by Grand Cherokee owners confirm that the system is not working for many Grand Cherokee.

The automatic emergency braking system activates randomly while driving abruptly stopping the vehicle in traffic. This has happened several times and we no longer feel safe driving. Luckily no one has been behind us when it happens otherwise I feel a crash would be unavoidable. The vehicle has now been to the dealer twice with no repairs made. The techs are always unable to duplicate the concern. Last time this happened my wife was driving around 40mph when the crash warning message flashed and stopped the vehicle. (no one was in the way).
I have towed this vehicle behind my motorhome for the past year and have used a Brake Buddy system to stop the vehicle should it ever break away from the tow brackets. I used the Brake Buddy system for 5 years on a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee prior to buying this 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and have never had any issues before. Recently, while towing the vehicle, I set it up for towing as Jeep recommends and either had a malfunction of the Automatic Electronic Brakes (AEB) or the Brake Buddy. Even though the tires never developed a flat spot on them due to dragging the vehicle, there was pressure applied to the brake pedal that caused the brakes to get so hot that the rubber brake lines melted at the fittings or blew out of the fittings causing me to lose all fluid. The NTHSA requires that all light-duty vehicles have AEB systems installed on them by 2026. I questioned Jeep as to the cause of my issue and they determined it was not their fault. I contacted Brake Buddy and they claimed they were just recently made aware of this problem and have since determined their system is not compatible with AEB equipped vehicles. I have talked to several installers that set up tow vehicles to be towed and they are of aware of this. Who has the responsibility to inform the public and industry that there is a problem here? Jeep advertises their vehicle is towable with all 4 wheels on the ground but makes no mention of having to install a State Law required braking system in the tow vehicle or potential compatibility issues. Had this tow vehicle come loose, it could have cause damage and potentially the loss of life!
Multiple times during the day I have a number of alerts popping up in my dashboard. These include the blind spot monitoring which continues to go on and off. Braking system, ect. Please see pictures.
While driving lost the power brakes making stopping vehicle incredibly difficult having to apply excessive force to brake pedal and shift into neutral to stop. Vehicle could not be driven for service and needed to be towed. If my wife had been driving her car, she would not be able to stop as I (her husband) had to apply leg force as much as I could apply to get vehicle to slow down and had to shift to neutral to stop. We avoided being in an accident but it was very close. Vehicle has been towed for repair and currently do not know what is wrong with the vehicle but it is definitely a safety concern.
While driving on the freeway. Slowing down speed due to traffic, the vehicle through itself in park. With the warning messages stating service transmission. The vehicle would not go into any other gear besides park. Thankfully no collision was caused due to the abrupt halt. The vehicle was then towed for repairs to the dealer. It was determined that the valve body had to be replaced. The transmission now whines when accelerating. Then the forward collision illuminated along with airbag icon. Message stated service airbag system. Airbag system unavailable, safety hazard. Pending diagnosis of why airbag system has failed.
Since purchase, I have had problems with the U Connect system, which at times renders all communication and some luxury items to be inoperable 1 week ago, car completely had both batteries drain spontaneously . Dealer replaced both batteries with no further explanation. On 5/21, on highway trip, warning lights came on, lane assist, blind spot, ABS stopped working. A/c was blowing hard, but could not adjust. Windows would not open. Hatch would not open, back doors would not open , door lock/ unlock did not work. Could only use handle on inside to open car. Could not adjust side mirrors. Promptly rerouted my day trip back home via side roads and not expressway due to uncertainty of safety. Drove it right to dealer and left the car running while checking in. Car starting flashing lights while service writer was checking car in. Then all lights- headlights and tail lights went dark without touching car. Engine still running. Car is not safe or reliable to drive. Had 12,400 miles and have owned it 18 months. Mostly highway driven by retired couple. 5 th service of electrical issues since purchase. It has been kept multiple days each time.
Forward Collision Warning not working not braking. When turning left or right I hear a loud scratching noise.l have had my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee at the dealership twice they can't find anything wrong, going back to the dealer tomorrow and try again........
Driving down a highway in a 70 mph zone, my car’s automatic braking system engaged causing my car to slam on brakes. There were no cars in front of me any of the times this happened. This has happened 5 times in the last two weeks. 3/5 of the times, there were cars/trucks in the right lane next to me. 2/5 of the times, there were trucks two lanes over. The first time this happened, the car behind me had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me. This has happened about 10 times since I have owned the car. However the incidents have happened more frequently in the last few weeks.
I have a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD Overland, If the NHTSA would do a web search this issue is a common issue that many people are complaining and concerned about. The forward collision warning with automatic braking is NOT functioning or has been turned down where it is completely ineffective or is not functioning at all. I have had my vehicle in two different Jeep dealerships and have been told that the system is functioning and not showing any error codes. I have an active case working under Jeep (Case # [XXX]) and my vehicle was inspected by a Jeep representative on [XXX], who also claims that the system is working. I have driven several different makes of vehicles with a Collision Avoidance System and have seen and experienced when this system functions properly, I am a Police Officer and currently drive a 2021 Chevy Tahoe with this system and have had many alerts in the two years I have driven this vehicle. I have approximately 12,500 miles on this Jeep and have NOT had one alert with this amount of mileage, I have has a couple close calls where I have had to take evasive action and heavy braking to avoid a collision and not even had a warning of any kind. There are to many people complaining of this same issue and many of the same people are quoting the same company verbiage and quotes from the jeep service departments saying that the system is functioning correctly, and there is no way to test the system. Please look into this issue and research just how many people are complaining of this issue, if your going to advertise and promote a safety system on vehicles you should have an expectation that the system actually works. Any safety system that is not functioning properly puts people in danger when the said system would prevent or minimize damage in a collision situation. The contact owns a 2023 Grand Cherokee Limited. The contact stated that while driving with her daughter, at approximately 2 MPH in a parking lot, the sun visor was pulled down and as she glanced in the mirror unaware of the surroundings, the vehicle crashed into a pole. No damage to the pole. The contact sustained chest injuries, and the contact's daughter, in the passenger seat sustained a leg injury. Both required medical attention. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the Forward Collision Alert did not detect the object in front of the vehicle as intended. On another occasion, while driving at 50 MPH, the feature did not detect a vehicle that suddenly stopped in front of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

Vehicle made left turn with partially obstructed side view and struck a Pedestrian in a crosswalk. Pedestrian impact with center of vehicle (license plate). No Pedestrian Emergency Braking activated. Vehicle brought to the dealer (with LE Reconstruction) - front radar sensor not tracking. Further tests of vehicle with live pedestrians walking in front of vehicle; both from step off curb into bike lane and live pedestrians walking across the front of the vehicle with no alert or apparent tracking. All tests performed above 3mph (5kph) and below 39mph. Test also above 30mph with lane line activation, but did not detect Pedestrian path intrusion. Inside, the AEB for Pedestrian Emergency Braking is ON, with "Warning + Active Braking". See photos. Tested with all three sensitivity settings (Med, Near, Far). Additional: Rear sensors worked while in reverse with a Pedestrian side approach. Bosch CDR/EDR 900 connected, no Pedestrian option illuminated (only Airbag). Further: Tested another Grand Cherokee with similar trim options, on similar tests and it too did not detect or alert to Pedestrian path intrusion.

Making left hand turn through 4-way intersection. Car opposite of us also making left hand turn. Our Grand Cherokee collision system thought the two vehicle were going to collide and locked the brakes in the middle of the intersection almost causing a 4 car accident. This is the second time this has happened since purchasing 06/03/23. Driver neck injury sustained. Seeking medical attention. Jeep is currently at the dealership where they are trying to reproduce/diagnose with no success. Multiple online articles found showing complaints of this EXACT issue proving it's not isolated to our vehicle. We have a recently purchased Jeep L with 5200 miles on it. Never off road, just a family commuter. Today my wife was driving the car for the second time and the power steering went out completely and it was very hard to turn the wheel. A bunch of other likes came on like the adaptive cruise and active lane management and front collision icons. The dash was lit up with warning including a large steering wheel icon in red. We shut the car down and restarted multiple times and the issue was still there. After 15 minutes of being on the phone to get it towed to the dealer, the issue went away on the next start with just a check engine light remaining.
While turning left, vehicle hit brakes on its own, driver and two passengers experienced neck pain. Two vehicles behind both screeched to a halt. There is dash cam video, but won’t let me upload.
Airbag requiring service light came on at 100 miles. Then the SOS call button was stuck lit up with an error message on the touch screen every time vehicle was started. Then the AEB system went off while driving (not in danger of being in a crash) and brought the vehicle to a stop and put itself in Park and shut off. Vehicle would not start again after that. Had to get it towed
Bought the vehicle new. At around 3000 miles the vehicle dash had all dummy lights on and giving me all warnings. Then while driving the vehicle dash started flashing on and off and the vehicle started loosing power. Has been sitting at the dealer for 2 months. No time when parts are coming and if it's fixable. Advised to contact Chrysler and already did. Keep getting round around and case numbers with no resolution.

While driving the vehicle on two different occasions. One was out of town and the screens and dash board going black. I tried turning off the vehicle and back on to reset it. It did not work! Then on another occasion the screen went black would not power off. The dash screen read ALM and cruise control unavailable needs service. I drove straight to the dealership and showed them. They scheduled service the next day. Got a call one of the service technicians was aware of the situation and stated Chrysler needed to provide a recall on the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee or create an update for the software system. Vehicle is still not fixed. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle.
When slowing down at a stop sign, in snowy conditions, the vehicle went into brake assist and locked the brakes up. Causing the vehicle to slide at an interesting and collide with another car. I had complained several times to the dealer about the braking system being to sensitive and touchy before the accident. This was purchased new and the accident happened about 1800 miles on it. Also, the air bag did not deploy. I was told by the dealer, it was because the impact was not hard enough. But the alerts on my phone, said air bag failure Since the accident, I have had this jeep back to the dealer several times. I asked for a full brake inspection, because I have never driven a vehicle that 1- brakes for you for no reason, 2- extremely touchy. The dealer service dept admitted the brakes were touchy, and drove an identical model to compare, and concluded that it must be normal. Didnt actually inspect them. It is NOT normal, and I do not feel safe driving this vehicle in the winter. I have since turned off all brake assist options in the settings, but it is still auto braking. Today at about 3000 miles, when slowing down to make a turn, the emergency braking system started acting up with no one close to me. There is something very wrong with this system, and needs to be addressed before serious injuries happen.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while shifted in reverse, the rear-view camera failed and displayed a blank screen. The contact then stated that the front camera then failed and displayed a blank screen. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a software glitch that needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that they were aware of the issue with no time frame. The failure mileage was approximately 25.
