When turning the wheel it makes a clicking noise .
I was driving down the interstate with my two babies in the car seats and all of a sudden all of the dash lights came on, and the power steering locked up. I was driving 70 miles per hour and had to pry my wheel as hard as i could to be able to pull over on the side of the interstate. Once I pulled over i turned the car off hoping it would reset whatever happened and the car was completely dead. It would not crank at all. I ended up having to call someone to come get me and my kids off the side of the interstate and tow the car to the dealership. this car has less than 70,000 miles on it and still is not fixed. It has been at the dealership for over 3 weeks with what they are telling me is electrical issues. I do not feel comfortable driving this car anymore as it is a safety hazard and could have gotten me and my children killed.
Power steering light came on and I took my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee (3.6L) to Cape Coral Chrysler Jeep Ram and they said it would be $3929.89 to fix for me. Replace Steering Rack and Pinion. This is a SAFELY ISSUE and I feel I should have to pay that much to fix a 2023!!!
Vehicle Purchased 05/27/2025 6/6/2025 - 9 days after purchasing the vehicle i was left stranded in the parking lot due to the battery issues. The vehicle showed a warning stating to "Service Charging System" and the entire system locked out and the vehicle was towed to to the dealer for evaluation and was there for over a week. When I received the car back they stated it was just the battery and not the charging system/hybrid system. 12/03/25 - While driving on the freeway, warning lights started coming up and the seat belt bell started going off even though everyone was buckled. Then my power steering was disabled, the ABS system was disabled and the breaks stiffened, lane assist was disabled, the airbags were disabled, and the SOS calling, and the engine shut off. When trying to change lanes we had to use extreme force to turn the wheel and the emergency lights wouldn't engage when the button was pressed. Due to the brakes being stiff beyond reason it took us passing 3 freeway exits to slow down enough to force the car off of the road. I had my children in the car and was terrified i was going to be in a crash or worse, lose control and veer off of the road. When i was able to pull off of the freeway, I was not able to drive as the car was continuing to shut off every few feet. I had to have my vehicle towed home and they next day when driving it to the dealer it was still without power steering, the ABS system, Airbags, the brake pedal was extremely stiff and the seatbelt bells were going off even though I had my seatbelt on from first getting into the car. Myself, my fiancé and our children's live were put at risk due to this vehicle failure. I picked my car up from the dealer today 12/5/2025 and they advised this was an issue with a connector that was replaced but the entire system had to be reset. I would also like to include that the vehicle now has an open recall that has no remedy and the dealer/Mfr. have yet to provide any updates.
While my wife was driving our 2023 plug-in hybrid SUV, the vehicle suddenly lost all power steering assist. The steering wheel became extremely hard to turn and she could not safely control the vehicle. I had to verbally guide her to pull over into a very unsafe area because the vehicle became nearly impossible to steer. The failure happened instantly with no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms. The vehicle was completely undriveable. I had to call a tow truck and pay out of pocket to have it towed directly to an authorized dealer. We were forced to take an Uber home. The dealer confirmed that this model currently has multiple active safety recalls, including recalls involving high-voltage battery fire risk and potential loss of propulsion, and that they could not inspect the vehicle immediately due to limited staffing. This incident posed a significant crash and injury risk because the driver was unable to steer the vehicle with normal force. The sudden loss of steering assist created a dangerous situation on a public road and required emergency towing. The vehicle is now at the dealership awaiting inspection, and the failure can be inspected upon request.
Two instances: 1) While reversing out of a parking spot, several warning lights flashed at once, including Power Steering System disabled, Service Hybrid Engine System, and two others - lost power steering. I parked and restarted the car and it drove normally. 2) While in park, the car started but would not shift gears and it would not turn off. It was stuck in this position for 10 minutes until the ignition button finally responded and shut off.
My Jeep has been a consistent problem. The vehicle gives many warning and "service powertrain" warnings in the dashboard. Additionally, at the same time as the warnings, the vehicle will lurch - slowing down significantly and making passengers in the vehicle panic. I have gone to the dealer to already fix not 1 but 5, yes FIVE, recalls related to the powertrain system. This last visit (today) I was told that Stellantis acknowledges the issue, but does not have a fix. This vehicle was clearly not ready for production and Stellantis needs to be held accountable to it's customers.
Various vehicle systems fail to operate. Power steering may not work, parts of the powertrain may fail to operate. The vehicle has a code B273C-00 which Stellantis says their engineers are aware of but have no fix nor any timeline for a fix. This can rendee the vehicle inoperable or dangerous to drive as there is no knowing which vehicle systems will fail. This is an ongoing problem, not a one time event.
The jeep will display “power steering unavailable” while driving, causing the steering wheel to lock up and be unable to turn while driving. Then the automatic braking, collision warning, and lane departure will all announce it is unavailable. This has caused us almost to crash multiple times. We took the vehicle to Jeep, they witnessed the power steering fail while driving, and told they can not find any remedy. This has been a daily occurrence since.
Today my steering locked up ,was not driving on the highway but was on my way when the steering said on my screen the loss of power steering .So afraid this will happen again and me driving. Yes it is at dealership now. Had to have it towed. The Vehicle is at dealership .Yes the red steering wheel was on the screen and the loss of steering when I was trying to back out of my carport. So afraid this will happen on the main road in traffic and I or another person will get hurt. Could not even turn the steering when backing out of my carport. Thank you for checking on this. These cars are dangerous when this happens. Bad thing is in all these cars they don’t know how to fix them, cause they can’t find what this problem is.
My wife was driving my kids to school and the jeep went into limp mode. This jeep relies too much on the battery to run everything and the batteries failed, at 39k and 2 years of ownership. It was showing steering, sos, brake, airbag, anti collision system failures with no prior warnings.
For the second time since the vehicle was purchased EPS failed. The first time there were other issues and errors. The car cannot safely be driven under these conditions. When taken to the dealer they say they cannot recreate the issue and then it is drivable. Our concern is that these issues are not being properly logged and there is a serious electrical defect in the car that could result in a failure while it is being driven. Since there is "no trouble found" it does not need to be logged by the dealer and information will never reach the OEM to note an issue and drive recalls or corrective quality actions.

Massive alerts, on and off every few miles, then power steering locked out when pulling into an intersection. Almost was hit. Luckily, I was able to put the car in reverse and back into the side street. This needs immediate attention. Had the vehicle towed to dealer.

The vehicle makes a metal like grinding noise when stoping and shutting off the engine. has had numerous problems where multiple warnings lights will appear on the instrument cluster followed by the vehicle losing power steering and the ability to be controlled. The radio screen with black out and functions will be rendered unusable through the radio, intermediately. The vehicle displays active error codes to include loss of communication with body control module. The vehicle will crank and drive off without a key fob present in the vehicle. The vehicles engine is making a loud knocking noise. The vehicle has been to three different dealerships and has been unable to be fixed despite several hard resets/updates/“flashes” and a power steering assembly replacement.

During operation of the vehicle on 12/5/23 the vehicle lost communication to the power steering module, instrument cluster and entertainment center. The car was able to safely be stopped. After restart all functions were normal. The car was brought to the dealer on 12/6 for troubleshooting and historic codes consistent with complaint were present. As of current day 3/29/24 FCA (Fiat Chrysler auto) has agreed to repurchase the vehicle under Mass Lemon Law Guidelines.

This vehicle was sold to us with this issue. The dealer knew that this problem existed. We took the vehicle in for service when a warning light about the steering came on a few weeks ago. The dealer said that there was not a problem with the steering other than a wire that had been chewed by a rodent for which the dealer charged $650 to fix.
I am reaching out to discuss a serious and concerning issue I recently experienced with my Jeep Grand Cherokee L. While driving, the vehicle suddenly lost power steering completely, making it incredibly difficult to control. This was not only unexpected but also quite frightening, given the potential for accidents in such situations. To add to the concern, about six warning lights illuminated on the dashboard. Notably, messages like "Blind Spot Monitoring System Unavailable", "Lane Assistance", and, most critically, a warning about the power steering were displayed. I noticed the check engine light come up as well and the detectors on my mirrors were lit up as if the entire system was malfunctioning. Having looked into potential causes, I came across a recall notice for the 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L models regarding a steering assembly issue. I am deeply concerned that my vehicle might be affected by this recall and, considering the risks associated with such failures, I believe this matter needs urgent attention. Additionally, I had my little one in the car and am deeply concerned that we could have potentially been involved in an accident related to the malfunction. I’m reading that others have experienced the same issues
While backing out of garage as I routinely do each morning, my gauge panel indicated a "Service Steering System" light as well as the check engine light. I lost all power steering. I unhooked battery, and reconnected. Power steering was now available, but the check engine light remains on. I took car to dealership where it has set for 8 days. I have been told they are waiting on part #68628263-AA, a rack & pinion. I was not offered a loaner vehicle or an explanation other than that they are waiting on a part. I was told to just "take the car home and drive it if I knew how to reset the battery to get power steering to work". This seems very unsafe.

We have a recently purchased Jeep L with 5200 miles on it. Never off road, just a family commuter. Today my wife was driving the car for the second time and the power steering went out completely and it was very hard to turn the wheel. A bunch of other likes came on like the adaptive cruise and active lane management and front collision icons. The dash was lit up with warning including a large steering wheel icon in red. We shut the car down and restarted multiple times and the issue was still there. After 15 minutes of being on the phone to get it towed to the dealer, the issue went away on the next start with just a check engine light remaining.
Power steering stopped working when pulling out of parking spot. Then warnings about blind spot and check engine lights came on.

Incident #1 - Power steering issue. While exiting the driveway, I lost power steering along with unresponsive controls such as "lane management" and "traction control." Alert on dash read, "power steering unavailable," and engine light was on. After turning the vehicle off, power steering and other controls returned after about 20 minutes of occasionally turning the vehicle off and on again. Service was performed with a "software update." Incident #2 - About a month later, while driving on the road, I abruptly lost power steering and the ability to accelerate, as the gear shift disingaged and was unresponsive. I pulled over to a rolling stop and tried shifting gears but the gearshift still would not respond. I then turned the vehicle off, waited a few seconds, then turned it back on. After doing so, all controls were restored. I didn't check for warning lights. The vehicle was not taken in to get serviced. Safety risk - Had these malfunctions happened on a busy street, it definitely could've caused a serious accident, as my control of the vehicle was very limited. The vehicle is available for inspection.
Crunk up the vehicle to leave work and power steering immediately went out, messages and warning lights saying lane departure and blind spot warning were unavailable. No issues prior to this. I drive it to work with no issues or warning lights. I had it towed to dealership because it was unable to be driven. Thank God I was just in a parking lot and not driving down the highway when this happened. It can cause a wreck, killing myself and or another person in the vehicle with me as well as other people involved in the crash. Dealership gave me the run around and I was not able to speak with just one person. Nobody there was communicating with each other causing more chaos and frustration. This Jeep only has 3,315 miles on it so it should not be doing this.
There are multiple safety recalls for this vehicle that I have only had for 1 month. I began the new lease with this vehicle beginning of March and the vehicle has been back to the dealership 4 times already. Issue #1: The middle part of the steering wheel where the air bag is located came completely off the steering. It was dangling almost causing my boyfriend and I to get t-boned. Since the middle part of the steering wheel was dangling and me trying to turn the wire got caught in the steering wheel not allowing me turn. I was also very lucky that the airbag alone did not deploy in my lap. The car is currently at the dealership getting "fixed" I truly believe that this specific car has multiple recalls. There was no warning at all just came right off. Issue #2: Underneath the car the seam sealer was faulty and the dealership has to weld the underneath of the car back together. There was also no warning to this I could hear the pieces clinking together underneath the car. Issue #3: The gas pedal vibrates when you hit speeds 40 mph and above to the point where my foot goes numb. This puts my ability to drive the car at risk especially if my foot goes numb from driving my car. The vehicle is back at the dealership to get this issue fixed for the second time. No warning lamps or messages for this issue.
