The rear window latch does not work. It will not open to latch the window closed with the back door. The window then opens when driving. I have a bungee cord holding my window closed. So anyone can enter my vehicle and it moves when I stop or go. I am ot able to use my back door due to having to redo it everytime. My driverside door also does not lock or unlock all the doors when I press the lock or unlock button. I have to open my door and shut off jeep and try numerous times for ot to work.

PURCHASED A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY IN THE STATE OF WISCONSIN, A STATE THAT HAS EXCESSIVE COLD AND ICY WEATHER, STREETS ARE HEAVILY SALTED. THE JEEP I PURCHASED HAS HAD SEVERAL RECALLS, MAJOR WAS THE REAR END CONTROL ARM, WHICH THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED. 2005 JEEP LIBERTY ALSO HAS MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WHICH CAUSES THE ENGINE COOLING FAN TO SHORT OUT. HAVING IT TO BE FREQUENTLY REPLACED ONCE A YEAR. 2ND MAJOR PROBLEM IS THE FRONT RIGHT CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY FRONT UPPER LEFT AND RIGHT. ALONG WITH WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY, BOTH CORRODES AND CAN CAUSE THE STEERING TO BRAKE INTO, RESULTING IN A LOST OF STEERING CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING. THESE MAJOR MECHANICAL PROBLEMS NEEDS SHOULD BE RECALLED, SO THEY CAN BE REPLACED OR REPAIRED. THE STEERING GOT HARD AND FELT LIKE THE BALL JOINT ON THE CONTROL ARMS LOCK UP ; THE DOOR LOCKS CYCLE CONTINUOUSLY AND NOW DRIVER DOOR, LEFT REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND BACK TAILGATE WILL NOT OPEN, HORN WILL NOT BLOW, RADIO WILL NOT WORK, AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WON'T WORK. THE STEERING PROBLEMS HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS AND WHEN MAKING TURNS OF ANY KIND THE SLIGHTEST MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL WILL CAR IS MOVING MAKES ERRATIC NAVIGATION IN ANYTHING OTHER THAN A STRAIGHT PATH. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILS FROM WINTER TO SUMMER CAUSING MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION TO THE COMPUTER, THE AUTO CAN OVERHEAT, IT CAN ALSO CLEAR DOWN AND OPEN FAILURE OF GASOLINE. THE BALL JOINTS FAIL TRULY. IT HAPPENED TO ME IN THREE OCCASIONS WHEN I CIRCULATED BY THE CITY WHEN CROSSING ON A STREET, WHILE PASSING A TUMBLE, AND ON A TERRACE STREET. THE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM BREAKS CAUSING BRAKE LIQUID LEAKS THIS IS CAUSED BY THE WARMING OF PARTS AND DIRT. I SAW THE STAIN IN THE SOIL WHEN I PARK IN MY GARAGE AND CHECK.

SUSPENSION ISSUE. IT APPEARS THAT THE FRONT END TO BE COMING LOOSE. LOTS OF NOISE SUCH AS GRINDING,ETC. I STOPPED AT GARAGE AND HAD THEM OUT IT ON A LIFT FOR INSPECTION. THE DETERMINATION WAS THAT THE FRONT, LEFT AND RIGHT, UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS ARE DEFECTIVE. UPON INSPECTION BY THE MECHANIC, AND BY ME VISUALLY, IT APPEARS TO BE PREMATURE WEAR. MECHANIC SUSPECTS A PRODUCT DEFECT, AS DO I. I CHECKED NHTSA OFFICIAL SITE FOR RECALLS. MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR THIS SUSPENSION ISSUE. SEAT BELT DRIVER'S SIDE LATCHING MECHANISM BETWEEN THE SEAT AND CONSOLE STICKS INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES IT TAKES MULTIPLE EFFORTS TO DISCONNECT THE SEAL BELT SO THAT DRIVER MAY EXIT THE VEHICLE. DEALER CLAIMS THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS ITEM AND NO WARRANTY. CURRENT MILEAGE ON VEHICLE IS 74,400 MILES. ELECTRICAL POWER WINDOW ASSEMBLIES. ALL FOUR ASSEMBLIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED. DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP (BOUGHT NEW IN 2005) BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT WINDOW ASSEMBLIES WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, SINCE THEN ALL FOUR ASSEMBLIES (FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES, AND REAR DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE OWNER. THIS IS A MULTIPLE OCCURRING PROBLEM AND IN MY ESTIMATION SEEMS TO BE A PRODUCT DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING PROBLEM.

ON 6/5/2015, WHILE ON THE FREEWAY, THE DASHBOARD WENT CRAZY. ENGINE AND AIRBAG LIGHTS FLASHED, FUEL, TEMPERATURE, AND SPEED GAUGES WENT DEAD (ZERO), AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED. I DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE ELK GROVE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND WHAT WAS WRONG. UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE COMPUTER MEMORY DID NOT SHOWED THEM ANYTHING. THEY PERFORMED THE 120K SERVICE INSTEAD. ON 6/18/2015, WHILE DRIVING AT 15MPH IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME, I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOOK A VIDEO OF THE DASHBOARD, AND AGAIN DROVE TO THE ELK GROVE DEALERSHIP. AS OF TODAY, THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE/FIND WHAT IS WRONG. THEY KNOW IS A CONTROL MODULE, BUT DO NOT KNOW WHICH ONE. SINCE OTHER JEEP MODELS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN SUBJECT TO RECALL, I WANT TO KNOW WHY NOT FOR THE 2005 MODEL. I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS AROUND ME SHOULD THIS CONTROL MODULE KILLS THE ENGINE WHILE I AM ON THE FREEWAY. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION WHILE THE CAR IS HELD HOSTAGE FOR OBSERVATION. THIS MODULE HAS A FACTORY OR DESIGN DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY JEEP!

I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE COOLING FAN, THREE WINDOW MOTORS, THE ALTERNATOR, HEAD GASKETS, THE FUEL PUMP SENSOR IS BROKEN, THE OIL SENSOR IS BROKEN, WHEN I PUMP GAS IT SPILLS OUT, THE RADIATOR, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. THE TAIL LIGHTS DON'T WORK PROPERLY AND I HAVE REPLACED BOTH THE LIGHTS AND FUSES AS WELL AS THE SOCKETS NUMEROUS TIMES. THESE ARE JUST THE THINGS I CAN THINK OF OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD. I'VE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, LITERALLY, ON THIS CAR. I FEEL LIKE IT'S A DEATH TRAP WAITING TO HAPPEN AND CAN'T WAIT UNTIL I AM ABLE TO PURCHASE SOMETHING ELSE, IT WON'T BE A JEEP PRODUCT. JEEP DOESN'T CARE IF YOU HAVE NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THEIR PRODUCT. WHEN I FIRST STARTED HAVING ISSUES I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED FROM TO TALK TO MY SALESMAN AND I WAS ASKED WHAT MY MILEAGE WAS. I WAS RIGHT AROUND 48,000 MILES, I WAS PUT OFF NUMEROUS TIMES AND TOLD HE WOULD BE WHO I WOULD NEED TO DEAL WITH. AFTER I HIT THE 50,000 MARK THEY INFORMED ME HE HAD BEEN MURDERED AND I WAS NOT OUT OF WARRANTY. EACH PASSING DAY SEEMS TO BRING NEW PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. I JUST THOUGHT SOMEONE SHOULD FINALLY KNOW. I'M ALSO NOT COUNTING THE RECALLS IN ON MY LIST OF ISSUES.

THE DRIVERSIDE FRONT WINDOW JUST FELL DOWN AND I COULDN'T GET IT TO ROLL BACK UP

I WAS COMING HOME THE DAY BEFORE THE HOLIDAY. IT WAS A BUSY DAY AROUND 4:30 PM. I BEGAN HEADING DOWN THE HEEL AND THE CAR JUST TURNED OFF. I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART, STEER, BRAKE OR CONTROL ANY ASPECT OF THE CAR. UNFORTUNATELY WHEN THE CAR STOPPED, IT THREW ME FORWARD INTO THE DASH. FORTUNATELY, THE GENTLEMAN THAT WAS IN FRONT OF ME SAW ME WAVING AND YELLING I COULDN'T STOP AND RISKED HIS LIFE BY PULLING IN FRONT OF THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO ALLOW MY CAR TO CONTINUE SOARING DOWN THE HILL. ONCE I REACHED THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL, MY VEHICLE CAME TO REST BETWEEN TWO LANES OF A FOUR LANE ROAD. MIND YOU THIS ROAD HAS HILLS COMING FROM BOTH WAYS. FORTUNATELY AGAIN, A TOW TRUCK DRIVER CAME ALONG AND STOPPED TRAFFIC UNTIL HE COULD SAFELY TOW ME INTO MY DRIVEWAY (FREE OF CHARGE). WHEN I TRIED STARTING THE VEHICLE AGAIN IT RAN LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO BLOW UP AND RATTLED SOMETHING TERRIBLE. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANY SUCH SITUATION REGARDING MY TYPE OF VEHICLE. HOWEVER, AS THE STORIES BEGAN SPILLING INTO THE MEDIA, IT WAS LIKE RELIVING THAT MOMENT OVER AND OVER AGAIN, BUT UNFORTUNATELY FOR SOME THEIR SITUATION DIDN'T TURN OUT AS WELL. THERE I'D A LITTLE PIN IN IT THAT IF YOU PUT YOUR KEY IN SLIGHTLY THE WRONG WAY YOU CAN BREAK ONE OF THOSE PINS. I HAVE HAD THIS FIXED AND THEN I HAVE NO PROBLEM STARTING MY JEEP FOR A WHILE. WELL THEN IT ALL HAPPENED AGAIN THE OTHER DAY. AGAIN IT WAS THE IGNITION ACTUATOR SWITCH. I HAVE READ A LOT OF PLACES AND MY DEALER HAS TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THESE JEEPS. THE WINDOW DOES NOT EVEN GET USED AND IT FAILS. THE WINDOW WAS NOT USED ONCE SINCE THE SECOND REPLACEMENT AND IT HAS FAILED AGAIN FOR A THIRD TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PARTS NEEDED WERE ON BACKORDER. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS IGNORING THE ISSUE WHICH HE STATED WAS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. RAIN SEEMED TO BE THE CATALYST, BUT I REFUSE TO PUT ONE OF THOSE ANAL PERSON CAR COVERS ON BECOMING A SLAVE TO THE WEATHERCHANNEL. MECHANIC CHANGED TEMPERAMENTAL SENSOR WHICH, SO FAR, SEEMS TO BE MANAGED. THE A/C FAN ONLY WORKS AT 3 AND UP, WHICH IS TOO MUCH HOT/COLD FOR EVEN THE MOST ANEMIC AFTER MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES. BACK TO THE WEATHER, WINTER CAUSES FRONT STRUTS TO CREAK AND MOAN LIKE A GERIATRIC BEAST. ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS ANNOYING BUT SEEMINGLY INNOCUOUS. FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SHIFT ONLY WORKS IN PART TIME HI (OR LOW, DON'T RECALL), WHICH IS DISAPPOINTING THOUGH AGAIN, NOT LIFE THREATENING. THE COMBINATION OF THESE DEFECTS SIMPLY FEELS AS IF IT WAS BUILT WITH INDIFFERENCE TO THE CONSUMER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES BECAUSE THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD SHUT OFF, THE DIAL ON THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE WOULD GO TO ZERO, THE ODOMETER WOULD FREEZE, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. CURRENTLY, THE SPEEDOMETER DIAL REMAINS AT ZERO, THE ODOMETER IS STUCK AT 29,647, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK. THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE HAS FAILED AND DOES NOT KEEP ACCURATE INFORMATION AT ANY TIME. THE DEALER CURRENTLY HAS THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

CAR WOULD START AND DIE OFF AFTER 1-2 MINUTES ( AS IN LACK OF FUEL). THERE HAD ALSO BEEN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT FLASHING OCCASIONALLY. TO RE-START, THE FUEL PRIMER (LOCATED ON FILTER HEAD) HAD TO BE PUMPED. I READ ON WWW.LOSTKJS.COM FORUM IN THE CRD SECTION THAT AIR MIGHT LEAK INTO THE FILTER HEAD, CAUSING THESE SYMPTOMS. I NOTICED THAT THE FUEL HEATER PLUG LOCATED IN THE FILTER HEAD WAS MOIST. I PULLED THE PLUG AND HEARD A AIR-SUCKING SOUND. THE PLUG CONTAINED A MALE PART OF WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY A BURNED-OUT FUEL HEATER, WHICH HAS MADE A HOLE INTO THE FILTER HEAD. THE DESIGN IS OBVIOUSLY FAULTY; ANY AIR COLLECTING IN THE FILTER HEAD LEAVES THIS HEATING ELEMENT OUTSIDE OF THE FUEL ALLOWING IT TO OVER-HEAT. OVER-HEATING THE FUEL HEATING ELEMENT CAN FURTHER WARP/DAMAGE THE ALREADY LEAKY FILTER HEAD. FILTER ELEMENTS OBVIOUSLY WILL BURN OUT OVER TIME. 2005 JEEP LIBERTY CRD DIESEL ENGINE STARTED RUNNING SPORADICALLY. SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC AND DIESEL WAS PRESENT INSIDE VEHICLE. PULLED OVER AND OPENED HOOD, TO FIND BOILING DIESEL STEAM COMING FROM HEATER ELECTRICAL PORT ON FUEL HEAD. PLUG WAS DISCOLORED WITH HEAT. DROVE HOME, ORDERED NEW FUEL HEAD AND REPLACED WITH NEW OEM PART. 2 MONTHS LATER, THE ENGINE STARTED STUMBLING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND DIED ON HIGHWAY. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD, MANAGED TO EVENTUALLY RESTART, AND MADE IT HOME. OPENED HOOD AND FOUND LEAKING FUEL HEAD, FROM HEATER SOCKET, DIESEL FUEL DRAINING FROM PLUG PORT AT RATE OF ABOUT AN OZ PER MINUTE. ELECTRICAL PLUG WAS BURNED UP, PINS ELECTRICAL PIN ON INSIDE OF FUEL HEATER PORT DESTROYED.

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO REPLACED THE POWER CONTROL MODULE. THE PROBLEM RETURNED AFTER A MONTH. THAT COMPONENT WAS REPLACED FIVE TIMES. ALSO, WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE LOST PRESSURE. THE VEHICLE OPERATED AFTER RESTARTING. THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, BUT THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS NORMAL. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THESE PROBLEMS.

MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY WAS RUNNING ROUGH, SO I PULLED OVER TO INVESTIGATE. I OPENED THE HOOD, BUT COULDN'T SEE MUCH IN THE DARK. I WENT AROUND TO THE PASSENGER SIDE TO RETRIEVE A FLASHLIGHT AND AS I OPENED THE GLOVE BOX, I SAW FLAMES FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. I REACHED TO SHUT THE HOOD AND THEN CALLED 911 FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. UNKNOWN REASON FOR THE START OF THE FIRE. OTHER NOTES: I HAD PREVIOUSLY FILLED THE TANK EARLIER IN THE DAY. IN JULY THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE SERVICE AND A FACTORY RECALL ON THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM. FAILURE TO START- USING KEY AND REMOTE STARTER. WHEN THE KEY WAS TURNED, IT WENT ALL THE WAY OVER AND THE ENGINE DID NOT CRANK, NO NOISES FROM BATTERY- JUST NOTHING. THIS OCCURRED TWICE OVER A TWO MONTH PERIOD, USUALLY AFTER ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES IT WOULD START. RECENTLY THE PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSED FROM FAILING TO START,TO THE BIGGER PROBLEM OF DYING WHEN IT IS RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WILL BE RUNNING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN DIES WITH NO WARNING. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME, AT ANY SPEED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE VEHICLE NOW FOR A WEEK AND CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. 2005 JEEP LIBERTY CRD WILL "SLING SHOT" ITSELF WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP WITH THE A/C ON. WHEN YOU START TO ACCELERATE MAKING A TURN FROM BEING STOPPED THE VEHICLE WILL START TO MOVE AND YOU CAN FEEL, HEAR THE ENGINE GAINING RPM BUT NOT MOVEMENT THEN A SUDDEN SLINGSHOT EFFECT WILL TAKE PLACE. THE SELLING DEALER SAID IT WAS NORMAL FOR A DIESEL ENGINE WITH A TURBO TO DO THIS. ALSO STATED IT WAS IN THE ELECTRONICS AND THERE WASN'T ANY THING THEY COULD DO TO REPAIR IT. I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR A FACTORY BULLETIN TO COME OUT. THIS NEW VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT CONSTANTLY, I REQUESTED THE ALIGNMENT TO BE CORRECTED DURING THE SAME DEALERSHIP VISIT AS ABOVE. I WAS TOLD MY ALIGNMENT WAS CHECKED AND THERE WAS NO ABNORMAL TIRE WEAR SO IT MUST BE THE CROWN OF THE ROAD CAUSING THE PULL OR DRIFT. THIS VEHICLE ALSO SURGES WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED AND YOU START UP AN INCLINE, IT WILL CONTINUE TO SURGE AS LONG AS THE INCLINE LASTS. AFTER PICKING THE VEHICLE UP AT THE DEALERSHIP TODAY I STARTED HOME AND ALL THREE OF THE FAULTS OCCURRED. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SHOP FOREMAN WENT WITH ME , WHERE THE VEHICLE AGAIN ACTED UP. HE SAID THERE WAS NOT ANY THING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE SURGING AND THE ALIGNMENT AND THE SLING SHOTTING WAS TURBO LAG. I HAVE NOT DIVEN THE VEHICLE ON WET OR SNOW COVERED PAVEMENT, HOWEVER, WITH WHAT DOES I NOT SURE I WANT TO.
