Hello, my name is Jamie Woodley. I'm filing this complaint on my 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport. Currently, there's a recall for the Suspension Rear lower control arms. I've read the previous recalls on it, which I saw this vehicle has been reprogrammed before. I've only had the vehicle for a few months and I've had an oil leak, bad thermostat, and the transmission is busted. I can't reverse or drive over 10 mph. I heard the transmission may be in Fail Safe mode. I had Midas do a full inspection, but they failed to acknowledge the lower control arms by suggesting brakes. I knew it wasn't the brakes. The technician drove the vehicle after the brakes were done, but I still heard/felt a problem with the Suspension. There is a recall for that from 2018. I purchased the vehicle last year in March 2020. Also, the rear lift gate was dented when I bought it like the vehicle may have been in an accident. This was a vehicle I purchased for my 2 kids and I. This vehicle has been giving me problems since I bought it. The back driver's side window won't go all the way up. I have to keep a stick in between just to keep the window from falling all the way in the door. Definitely not a safe vehicle. My Engine stalled out on the free way while I was on my way to pick up my kids. After my oil change, no oil light came on. I am seeking help with any buy back programs or a valued trade in appraisal. I have a quote from Conrad's on how much it's going to cost to fix it and the price is over $3,000. I have extended warranty, but am unsure if it will cover any service requests. That is pretty outrageous that it's going to cost that much to fix it. I've been at Take 5 to keep up on the maintenance and was told I had an oil leak somewhere. On top of the brakes, I've spent money on 4 new tires, 6 ignition coils, an O2 Sensor, and I bought a New PCM/ECU computer I have yet to have installed. ALREADY HAD RECALL REAR CONTROL ARMS THEN JEEP WAS MAKING NOISE FRONT DRIVER SIDE I WENT TO RUN CORNER ON CITY STREET CONTROL ARM IN FRONT BROKE BLEW OUT TIRE AND RIM HAD TO HAVE IT TOW THEN NOT EVEN 6 MONTHS LATER UPPER CONTROL ARM PASSENGERS IDENTIFIED SAME THING I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO NOT BE ON HIGHWAY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS HAD CAR 3 1/2 YES REPLACE COMPRESSOR TWICE AND ALTERNATOR TWICE EVERY NOW RADIO GOES OFF AND ON LITES GO DANGEROUS CAR BUT CA N T AFFORD TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT

IN DECEMBER 2020, I STOPPED AT THE POST OFFICE TO DROP A LETTER IN THE OUTDOOR BOX. I ROLLED DOWN MY WINDOW, DEPOSITED THE LETTER, AND DROVE OFF. AS I WAS RAISING MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW, I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND MY WINDOW DROPPED INTO THE CAR DOOR. IT WAS ANOTHER BROKEN WINDOW REGULATOR. IT WAS 30 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND I HAD OTHER ERRANDS TO RUN. I HAD TO DRIVE AROUND THE CITY WITH MY WINDOW HALF-WAY DOWN IN THE FREEZING WEATHER. JEEP HAD A RECALL IN 2010 STATING "WE ARE EXTENDING THE WARRANTY PERIOD FOR WINDOW LIFT PLATE REPAIRS BECAUSE SOME VEHICLES HAVE EXPERIENCED REPEAT CONCERNS WITH WINDOW COMPONENTS. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED THIS WINDOW REGULATOR CONCERN AND HAVE PAID TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENT." WHEN I WAS NOTIFIED ABOUT THE RECALL, I SUBMITTED RECEIPTS FOR THE THREE INCIDENTS I HAD WITH BROKEN WINDOW REGULATORS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CHRYSLER REIMBURSED ME MY FULL OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES OF $708.28 ON JANUARY 24, 2011. NOW I NEED THEM TO PAY ME $461.50 FOR THE WINDOW REGULATOR THAT WAS REPLACED ON APRIL 14, 2021. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM, AND MOST OF ALL, A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE DISTRACTION IT CAUSES TO A DRIVER. I RECENTLY READ THE FOLLOWING: DISTRACTED DRIVING IS A DEADLY PROBLEM'IT LED TO 3,142 DEATHS IN 2019, ACCORDING TO THE MOST RECENT STATISTICS FROM THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION (NHTSA). CHRYSLER SHOULD EXTEND THE WINDOW REGULATOR RECALL ON JEEPS AND REIMBURSE ME $461.50 BECAUSE THIS IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD. WHAT IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH AND MY SIX POUND BABY WAS IN HIS CAR SEAT IN THE BACK SEAT, AND HIS WINDOW FELL IN DUE TO A BAD REGULATOR? THAT WOULD BE A MAJOR DISTRACTION TO ME AND A DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY BABY. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A PARTS PROBLEM. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.

I'VE HAD LOWER BALL JOINTS, BUSHING AND CONTROL ARMS ALREADY REPLACED ONCE IN 2017 AND NOW THEY ARE OUT AGAIN. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY MOPAR THAT MY 2006 LIBERTY WAS MADE 5 WEEKS AFTER THE LAST ONE INVOLVED IN THE RECALL.THIS IS INEXCUSABLE. I'VE HAD 3 WINDOW REGULATORS REPLACED. THIS IS A FATALITY WAITING TO HAPPEN IF I DRIVE. I STARTED HEARING AND FEELING THE BALL JOINTS GOING BAD ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. I HARDLY HAVE DRIVEN IT SINCE I WORK FROM HOME NOW. CAN CHRYSLER SEE ALL THESE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE BALL JOINTS AND STILL NOT ADD THESE 06 JEEP'S TO THAT RECALL. THIS IS NOT GOOD BUSINESS AT ALL. ALSO JUST HAD FRONT BRAKES DONE 1 YEAR AGO AND THEY NEED REPLACED ALREADY. IGNITION - MY KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION UNLESS I PUSH ON THE IGNITION CABLE. FRONT WINDOW REGULATOR ISSUES. TODAY THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FELL WHILE STATIONARY. A FEW MONTHS AGO, THE PASSENGER SIDE BROKE WHILE DRIVING. THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW IS SOUNDING LIKE IT MAY GO AT ANY MOMENT. I TOOK APART THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEN THAT WINDOW FELL THINKING IT JUST FELL OFF TRACK. I DISCOVERED A PIECE OF THE REGULATOR IS BROKEN. IN DOING RESEARCH I SEE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE! THIS POSES A SAFETY HAZZARD!! THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN 2013 REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I THE VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD THE LEFT SIDE LOWER BALL JOINT GOING BAD. THE TRANSMISSION MODULE IS TRIPPING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS (FRONT AND BACK) MAKES AWFUL SOUND GOING UP. THE AC COMPRESSOR HAS STOPPED WORKING.

AUGUST 2018 THE ELECTRICAL WENT OUT. RADIO/STEREO, AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKERS. PAID TO GET THIS FIXED. AUGUST 2019. EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER FIXED IT. IT HAPPENED AGAIN 3 DAYS LATER. THEN THEY KEPT CAR FROM 9/4-9/20 AND COULD NOT FIX IT. I STILL HAVE NO ELECTRICAL IN STEROE OR DOOR MECHANISMS.

1. FRONT UPPER AND LOWER CONTROL ARMS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING AS THEY SUPPOSED TO. IF THERE IS A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD THIS SUV VIHECLE GOT HIT STRONGLY. BOLTS ARE OUT OF ORDER TOO. ON MOTION MAKES LOTS OF NOISE AND SQUEEZING SOUNDS AS WELL. 2. INTERNAL ELECRICAL WIRING HAS SOME ISSUES. THE FRONT CEILING LIGHT GETS ON AND OFF ON ITS OWN. THE AIRCONTIONER LED LIGHT AS WELL.

I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY CAME TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE JEEP STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART (NO CRANK, NO START). THE TRAFFIC LIGHT WAS ON A INCLINE OF A HILL, THE JEEP WAS TOO HEAVY FOR ONE PERSON TO PUSH UP, AND ROLLING BACKWARDS INTO ONCOMING 60+MPH TRAFFIC WAS NOT A OPTION. A GROUP OF GOOD CITIZENS HELPED PUSH THE JEEP TO SAFETY. BATTERY WAS FULLY CHARGED, BUT SECURITY LIGHT WAS ON, PREVENTING A RESTART. IN ADDITION WHEN THE KEY IS TURN TO THE START POSITION THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT LIGHT UP AS NORMAL. PLUS ECM IS NOT CONNECTING TO THE SCAN TOOL. SCAN TOOL DISPLAYS CONNECTION ERROR. THE ECM FAILED. BEFORE THE FAILURE THE JEEP RAN PERFECT.

THERE IS ONLY ONE WINDOW THAT WILL COME DOWN AND IT'S THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE, THEY ALL CAME DOWN AND WOULD NOT COME BACK UP. I REPLACED A REGULATOR IN THE RIGHT BACK WINDOW AND IT WENT AGAIN SO I JUST HAD THEM ALL PINNED UP. I'VE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE AC COMPRESSOR TWICE AND JUST PUT IN 07/06/2018. I HAD TO HAVE A TRANSMISSION PUT IN 3 YEARS AGO. AND NOW THE TRUCK IS JUST SHUTTING DOWN WHEN I COME TO A STOP BUT IT WILL START BACK UP. I HAD A DIAGNOSIS TEST DONE AND IT DIDN'T SHOW ANY PROBLEMS, BUT IT'S STILL SHUTTING DOWN AND I DON'T KNOW WHY. THE MECHANIC SAID IT IS PROBABLY SOMETHING ELECTRICAL OR HAS TO DO WITH THE COMPUTER.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE SAME THING HAPPED RECENTLY, BUT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR. CAN YOU HELP ME GET THE WINDOW FIXED AS PART OF THE RECALL IN 2012?

VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET, ALL WINDOWS WERE UP, AND ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER THE WINDOW HAD DISAPPEARED INTO THE DOOR. I CALLED CHRYSLER BUT THE VIN IS NOT PART OF CHRYSLER'S NOTICE TO OWNER'S IN 2010 REGARDING FAULTY WINDOW REGULATORS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTAKE AIR CONTROL SENSOR AND IDLE CONTROL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY WILL NOT START OR CRANK. THE COMPUTER DOES NOT SHOW ANY CODES. THE BATTERY HAD POWER, THE RELAYS ARE FINE AND THE STARTER IS FINE. WHEN YOU ARE IN THE JEEP AND TRY TO START IT, IT DOES NOTHING. ITS LIKE YOU FORGOT AND LEFT IT OUT OF PARK AND TRIED TO START IT. THE JEEP DOES NOT CLICK OR EVEN ATTEMPT TO START. NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. I LOVE MY JEEP AND IT HAD BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES, AND RECALLS. I STILL LOVE MY LITTLE LIBERTY. IN NOV 2014 AS I WAS DELIVERING MAIL IN MY RHD JEEP LIBERTY 06, MY HEAT WAS ON AND MY BLOWER FAN "BLEW UP", BLOWING BLACK SMOKE INTO THE JEEP FROM THE VENTS AND A BURNING SMELL CAME FROM THE DASH BOARD. I TOOK THE JEEP TO MY LOCAL GARAGE IN WHICH TIME THEY TORE THE DASH APART AND FOUND IT HAD IN FACT "BLEW UP". IT NOW ONLY RUNS ON ONE SPEED (HIGH). DURING THE NEXT FEW MONTHS (WINTER) EVERY TIME I RUN MY HEATER WITH THE FAN OR THE DEFROST MY DASH BOARD GOES HAYWIRE. MEANING GAUGES SHUT DOWN, ALL ALERT LIGHTS GO ON AND/OR FLASH AND ALL BEEPS, BUZZERS AND NOISES SOUND. IT CONTINUES UNTIL I TURN THE HEAT/DEFROST OFF. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE GARAGE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS IN WHICH THEY RAN THE SCANNER WITH 7 CODES COMING UP. AFTER A FEW HOURS OF SITTING IT WOULD JUST RESET ITSELF AND CODES WOULD DISAPPEAR. EVERYTIME IT RAINS NOW THE DASH BOARD DOES THE SAME THING. I HAVE HAD 2 GARAGES AND SEVERAL DIFFERENT MECHANICS LOOK AT IT AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. ON APRIL 25 I CALLED CHRYSLER TO GET MY JEEP IN FOR THE N46 RECALL AND ASKED ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. I TOLD HER IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THE JEEP LIBERTYS. HER RESPONSE TO ME WAS "IN THE LAST 25 YRS I'VE WORKED HERE, I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM." SO I SAID I'D LIKE IT LOOKED AT WHILE ITS THERE FOR THE RECALL ISSUE. SOMETIMES IT WOULD START SOMETIMES IT WOULDN'T. KEY WOULD GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND YOU HAD A HARD TIME PULLING IT OUT. TOOK IT IN TO THE MECHANIC FOR A DAY AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT, NO CODES. DRIVE AGAIN JEEP WOULD DO THE SAME THING. I DEPRESSED AND HELD BRAKE PEDAL DOWN AND WAS ABLE TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND BACK TO PARK WITH NO PROBLEM. I HAD A FRIEND COME AND LOOK AT MY LIBERTY, AND HE CHECKED AND DID EVERYTHING I DID. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED A TOTAL OF TWO TIMES. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO COVER THE REPAIR COSTS BECAUSE THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTIES ADDRESSING THE FAILURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THE IGNITION ROD WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A STEERING COLUMN PROBLEM. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED BY THE MECHANIC FOR $489 AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. CASE #20734725 WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THERE WOULD BE NO REIMBURSEMENTS DUE TO THE MILEAGE, AND BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED CHRYSLER DEALER; THEREFORE THE CASE WOULD BE CLOSED. OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS, I HAVE OCCASIONALLY SMELLED A KEROSENE ODOR WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP LIBERTY DIESEL. TODAY, I READ ABOUT A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL HEATER ON THE LIBERTY DIESEL AND SO I CHECKED THE HEATER ON MY VEHICLE. THE PLASTIC INSULATOR AROUND THE ELECTRICAL PINS OF THE FUEL HEATER CONNECTOR (ON CABLE) IS DISCOLORED AND PARTIALLY MELTED. DOING FURTHER READING THIS EVENING, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS PROBLEM CAN ALSO BE A SOURCE OF FUEL SEEPAGE. ALTHOUGH I DIDN'T SEE ANY EVIDENCE OF FUEL AROUND THE CONNECTOR, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND MAY HAVE BEEN ALSO BEEN THE SOURCE OF THE ODOR I HAVE BEEN SMELLING WHILE DRIVING. I FEEL FORTUNATE TO HAVE DISCOVERED THIS IN A PRE-FAILURE CONDITION AND HAVE NOT (YET) EXPERIENCED A SERIOUS FUEL LEAK, ENGINE FIRE OR ENGINE STOPPAGE DUE TO FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE, I WAS DISAPPOINTED TO LEARN THAT YOUR AGENCY WAS AWARE OF THIS DESIGN PROBLEM BACK IN 2007 (PE07041), BUT CLOSED IT WITH APPARENTLY NO ACTION TAKEN. IN MY OPINION, THIS CONDITION CERTAINLY WARRANTS A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL AND REPAIR. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE PARTIALLY BURNED CONNECTOR ON MY VEHICLE, SHOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN SEEING THEM. AT THIS FIRST OCCURRENCE, WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT WITH THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DELL INTO THE DOOR. I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY INFORMED ME THEY WOULD FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE. THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOW FALLING DOWN OCCURRED IN JUNE 2010 ABOUT A YEAR AFTER PURCHASE, AFFECTING THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW, WHICH HAD NOT EVEN BEEN USED. I FOUND OUT THEN THAT THERE WAS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOW REGULATOR IN 2006 & 2007 JEEP LIBERTYS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. THE 3RD OCCURRENCE, WITH THE LEFT REAR WINDOW IN NOVEMBER OF 2010, MADE ME GET ONLINE AND FILE THIS REPORT AFTER CARMAX REFUSED TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY ON THIS REPAIR AND SENT ME TO JEEP WHO CHARGED 100 DOLLARS FOR IT. CHECKING THE SERVICE HISTORY THROUGH JEEP.COM, I FOUND THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THIS PROBLEM AT LEAST TWICE WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER. I WOULD LIKE FOR THE CHRYSLER COMPANY TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AND ISSUE A RECALL, REPAIRING THE PROBLEM IN A WAY THAT IT STAYS FIXED, RATHER THAN REPLACING THE WINDOW REGULATOR WITH MORE FAULTY PARTS AS THEY HAVE BEEN DOING. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AND DISTRACTING IF IT FALLS WHILE TRAVELLING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR, IN MY CASE, OVER 2 HOURS FROM HOME IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES WITH A 7 MONTH OLD BABY IN THE SEAT BY THE WINDOW.

AFTER MAY MONTHS OF THIS HAPPENING DAILY I HAD IT TOWED ON A FLAT BED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FINALLY REPLACED A CABLE THAT CONNECTED THE GEAR SHIFT TO BRAKE AFTER TELLING ME I COULD JUST SLAM REALLY HARD ON THE BRAKE AND IT WOULD JUST DISENGAGE, I SHOULD JUST HAVE DONE THAT INSTEAD OF HAVING IT TOWED. (STUPID ME I GUESS) THEN I HAD THE SAME ABS TRACTION CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEMS I'VE HEARD AND READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT, FIRST TIME TAKING IT IN, THE PROBLEMS STOPPED AND THEY SENT ME HOME. NOW YESTERDAY A YEAR LATER AND AT 48,000 MILES THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. I MADE THEM HOOK IT UP WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING AND THE LIGHTS STILL ON. WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU IS THAT SHUTTING YOUR CAR OFF "STORES" THE CODES. WITH THE CAR STILL ON, THE CODES WERE ACTIVE AND THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM. THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. HOWEVER NOW IT IS OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY AND I HAD TO FIGHT WITH THE GM TO GET IT COVERED. I HAD TO PRESS THE CABLE DOWN IN ORDER TO REMOVE MY KEY. I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR THE PROBLEM AND IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2004-2006 JEEP LIBERTY. NOW MY SHIFTER DOES NOT STOP BETWEEN GEARS, IT SIMPLY SLIDES THROUGH THEM WITHOUT HAVING TO PRESS THE BUTTON THAT WOULD NORMALLY LOCK THEM IN PLACE. ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2007, AT APPROXIMATELY 8:30PM BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I GOT IN OUR 2006 JEEP LIBERTY WITH ONLY 9,188 MILES TO DRIVE HOME. UPON TURNING ON THE VEHICLE WE TURNED UP THE AIR CONDITIONER AND HEARD A GRINDING SOUND. UNSURE OF WHAT THE NOISE WAS, MY HUSBAND TURNED DOWN THE AIR FOR A MOMENT. AS HE TURNED THE AIR BACK UP THE BLOWER FAN FELL OUT OF THE DASHBOARD AND INTO THE FOOT AREA OF THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT WHERE I WAS SITTING. THE BLOWER FAN WAS STILL TURNING AS IT MADE CONTACT WITH MY FEET BECAUSE IT DID NOT DETACH FROM THE ELECTRICAL WIRING. THE BLOWER FAN CONTINUED RUNNING UNTIL MY HUSBAND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. DUE TO THE FACT THAT I WAS WEARING SANDALS WHEN THE BLOWER FAN FELL OUT OF THE DASHBOARD MY TOES WERE SEVERELY LACERATED AND SUFFERED ABRASIONS. THESE INJURIES REQUIRED ME TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. IT WOULD NOT CONTINUE RUNNING AFTER THAT. IT WOULD START BUT THEN SHUT DOWN RIGHT OFF. I ENDED UP HAVING IT TOWED TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE I FOUND OUT TWO SENSORS IN THE COMPUTER HAD GONE BAD. I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE THE SENSORS REPLACED IN ADDITION TO THE TOW. (THIS WILL BE MY FIRST VISIT TO TAMIAMI FOR SERVICE APPT-BUT WAS ALREADY ADVISED NOT ALL PARTS AVAILABLE- WHAT'S THE USE OF MAKING A APPOINTMENT IF THEY IS A NATIONWIDE OF A PART TO REPAIR A RECALL? WHAT HAPPENS IF MY TIRES DETACH OR MY CAR HAS "UNDERBODY FIRE" AS PER MY MOST RECENT NOTICE? I WOULD APPRECIATE A REPLY VIA EMAIL AND I WOULD LIKE SOMEBODY TO INVESTIGATE HOW SERVICE DEPARTMENTS CAN RUN OUT OF PARTS THAT HAVE MANDATORY RECALLS. WHILE DRIVING 2006 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED ESP/BAS LIGHT CAME ON AND ALSO CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP THEY SAID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE NEEDS UPDATE REPROGRAM, ALSO WAS A RECAL TO PROGRAM BCM. GOT JEEP BACK NEXT DAY, LIGHT CAME BACK ON PLUS THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT, TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP THEY HAD FOR 2 DAYS CALLED AND SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH IT. SAID IT WAS DUE TO THE WAY I DRIVE AND USE THE BRAKE PEDAL. PROBLEM NOT FIXED. JEEP HAS 10000 MILES ON IT NOW. WHEN IT ONLY HAD 1750 MILES ALL THE PANEL LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE VECHICLE SHUT DOWN, HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD TO REPLACE CLUSTER, BCM AND PCM PER STAR LINE, REPAIR SHORT IN RADIO WIRING HARNESS, ALSO REPAIR BURN IN 02 SENSOR WIRING HARNESS, REROUTE HARNESS. AND NOW THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, TO PICK IT UP IN THE MORNING. *NM

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH, A SMELL OF BURNT PLASTIC WAS NOTICED. THE VEHICLE PULLED OVER, AND FLAMES ERUPTED FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER, AND A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BLISTERS ON HIS RIGHT HAND WHILE PUTTING THE FIRE OUT. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FIRE COULD HAVE BEEN ELECTRICAL SINCE THE FIRE STARTED FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING BLOWER AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED TOTALED, AND WAS TAKEN TO A SALVAGE YARD. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKES FAILED FIVE TIMES AT LOW SPEEDS. THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE HEATER CONTROL HEAD HOWEVER THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE FUEL PUMP ALSO RUNS CONSTANTLY AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED.
