Every time I pump gas it spits back out at me. No matter what I do. This is completely unacceptable and dangerous
I purchased the car on 10/07\2024, the dealer said there was a recall and I assumed it was for this issue: When I fill the tank it shoots fuel all over the place. Ive tried different gas stations but it doesn't help, it still shoots or spills fuel all over the place. I checked online and this seems to be a known problem caused by the ethanol in the fuel reacting with a check valve. HAVING FUEL SHOOT OUT AT YOU EVERY TIME YOU FILL THE CAR IS DANGEROUS!!!
Cannot add fuel to tank without it kicking fuel nozzle off, I have to add fuel slower then the fuel nozzle will do on it's on, takes for ever to add any amount of fuel, problem started out by splashing fuel on to me and the vehicle before it would complete filling tank.

EVERY TIME A FILL GAS THE CAR OVERFILLS AND LOTS OF GAS SPILLS OUT. THIS IS HAPPENING AT ALL DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND I HAVE SEEN OTHERS ONLINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, MY CAR HAS ONLY 65K MILES. THIS IS FOR SURE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT MUST BE RECALLED, IT IS A HUGE FIRE HAZARD.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. GASOLINE WILL ALWAYS BLOW OUT OF THE FILLER WHEN FUELING. AT LEAST 1/4 CUP AND SOMETIMES A FULL CUP OF GASOLINE WILL BE EXPELLED AT EACH REFUELING. GASOLINE WILL BE SPRAYED ON HANDS, PANTS, SHOES, SIDE OF CAR AND ON THE GROUND. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED OVER THE PAST YEAR.
WHEN FILLING THE TANK WITH FUEL, THE PUMP DOES NOT SHUT OFF, AND THE FUEL FILLER TUBE BELCHES FUEL ONTO THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK AND THE GROUND. THIS CAUSES A FIRE SAFETY ISSUE, THE FUEL DAMAGES PAINT AND PLASTICS ON THE VEHICLE, IT IS WASTEFUL, AND IS HAZARDOUS TO THE ENVIRONMENT.

IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER 14 AND I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT FIXING OR SETTING UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR FIXING THE JEEP. I HAVE THREE CHILDREN THAT RIDE IN MY JEEP, I DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE IT, ALL I CAN DO IS PRAY THAT I DO NOT GET HIT FROM BEHIND ONE DAY AND CAUSE THE GAS EXPLOSION THAT COULD OCCUR DO TO MANUFACTURING ISSUES.

THE TESTING AGENCIES HAVE PROVEN THAT A TRAILER HITCH IS ONLY MINIMALLY EFFECT UP TO 25 MPH AND NOT EFFECTIVE AT GREATER SPEEDS. I REQUESTED THE DEALERSHIP "WORK WITH ME" SO THAT I COULD BUY A SAFER VEHICLE FROM THEM. THEY ARE ONLY WILLING TO OFFER ME THE SAME TRADE-IN AMOUNT AS IF I WERE TRADING VEHICLE SOLELY BECAUSE I WANT A NEW VEHICLE. I WOULD KEEP THIS VEHICLE, IF IT WERE SAFE. I PURCHASED WHAT APPEARED TO BE A WELL MAINTAINED 2006 JEEP FROM A LOCAL REPUTABLE DEALER AT A COST OVER OF 10 GRAND ON 10/3/14. THE FIRST TANK FILL UP THE GAS OVERFLOWED OUT OF THE TANK. THERE WAS NO "STOP" THE GAS JUST CAME OUT. I ASKED THE CASHIER IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS PUMP AND THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW. SO, THE NEXT GAS FILL UP A WEEK LATER, THE GAS SHOT OUT OF THE TANK THIS TIME. STILL NO WARNING TO STOP FILLING THE TANK WITH A GAS "STOP". I CONTACTED THE DEALER, WHO COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING MECHANICALLY WRONG WITH THE TANK, AND HAD TO PAY FOR AND SEND THE CAR TO A LOCAL JEEP DEALER FOR REPAIR. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, THEY REPLACED THE GAS TANK. ALBEIT I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK WITH LESS GAS THAN I HAD LEFT IT WITH. TOOK THE CAR HOME, FILED THE CAR ON FRIDAY 11/7/14 AND THE GAS MECHANISM DID STOP THE GAS, BUT ONLY AFTER GAS LEAKED OUT FROM THE GAS TANK AGAIN, AND THEY NEVER EVEN TESTED THE CAR TO MAKE SURE IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN! AS I FOUND OUT LATER, THEY REPLACED THE TANK WITH A USED TANK. I AM INCREDULOUS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. MY DEALER IS GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE, I HOPE. EVERYTIME I GET MY GAS TANK FILLED ON MY JEEP LIBERTY IT SPILLS OVER ONTO THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND AND MAKES MY CAR SMELL OF GAS FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER, THIS FIRST OCCURRED WHILE I WAS AT A FULL SERVICE GAS STATION I HEARD THE PUMP STOP FOLLOWED BY GAS POURING OUT AND THE SERVICE ATTENDANT YELLED, JEEP MUST BE FULL! NATURALLY I TOLD THE GAS ATTENDANT HE OVERFILLED MY TANK AND HIS RESPONSE WAS, NO ITS JUST A JEEP THING, AT FIRST I DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM BUT THEN THE NEXT TIME A FILLED IT AT ANOTHER GAS STATION THE SAME THING HAPPENED (FULL SERVICE AS WELL) I THEN FILLED THE TANK MYSELF THE FOLLOWING TIME AND IT HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL! THIS OCCURS CONSISTENTLY, EACH TIME THE VEHICLE IS FILLED REGARDLESS OF FACTORS SUCH AS PUMP SPEED, TEMPERATURE, DEPTH OR POSITION OF THE NOZZLE. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TIME FUELING SO THAT THE TANK IS NOT FULL SO THIS DOES NOT OCCUR. THIS IS A SAFETY HARD DUE TO THE INABILITY OF THE GAS TANK TO HOLD THE GASOLINE, WHICH WOULD BE DANGEROUS IN THE EVENT OF EVEN A MINOR ACCIDENT. IT IS ALSO HAZARDOUS FOR THE VEHICLE AND INDIVIDUAL TO BE COVERED IN A HIGHLY FLAMMABLE SUBSTANCE SUCH AS GASOLINE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE JEEP DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND AFTER TWO WEEKS THE DEALER BASICALLY GAVE UP TRYING TO FIX THE CAR.
