Hello, my name is Jamie Woodley. I'm filing this complaint on my 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport. Currently, there's a recall for the Suspension Rear lower control arms. I've read the previous recalls on it, which I saw this vehicle has been reprogrammed before. I've only had the vehicle for a few months and I've had an oil leak, bad thermostat, and the transmission is busted. I can't reverse or drive over 10 mph. I heard the transmission may be in Fail Safe mode. I had Midas do a full inspection, but they failed to acknowledge the lower control arms by suggesting brakes. I knew it wasn't the brakes. The technician drove the vehicle after the brakes were done, but I still heard/felt a problem with the Suspension. There is a recall for that from 2018. I purchased the vehicle last year in March 2020. Also, the rear lift gate was dented when I bought it like the vehicle may have been in an accident. This was a vehicle I purchased for my 2 kids and I. This vehicle has been giving me problems since I bought it. The back driver's side window won't go all the way up. I have to keep a stick in between just to keep the window from falling all the way in the door. Definitely not a safe vehicle. My Engine stalled out on the free way while I was on my way to pick up my kids. After my oil change, no oil light came on. I am seeking help with any buy back programs or a valued trade in appraisal. I have a quote from Conrad's on how much it's going to cost to fix it and the price is over $3,000. I have extended warranty, but am unsure if it will cover any service requests. That is pretty outrageous that it's going to cost that much to fix it. I've been at Take 5 to keep up on the maintenance and was told I had an oil leak somewhere. On top of the brakes, I've spent money on 4 new tires, 6 ignition coils, an O2 Sensor, and I bought a New PCM/ECU computer I have yet to have installed. I THE VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD THE LEFT SIDE LOWER BALL JOINT GOING BAD. THE TRANSMISSION MODULE IS TRIPPING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS (FRONT AND BACK) MAKES AWFUL SOUND GOING UP. THE AC COMPRESSOR HAS STOPPED WORKING.

THE CLUTCH IGNITION, POWER SWITCH OF MY TRUCK KEEPS STALLS. THE VEHICLE DON'T START, WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN. ALSO THE ENGINE CRANK AND START WITHOUT THE CLUTCH PEDAL BEING PUSHED DOWN CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO UNEXPECTEDLY LURCH. I WAS NOTIFIED BY A DEALER AFTER INSPECTION THAT SAID PROBLEM IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM, THAT WAS ON RECALL. HOWEVER SAID MY VEHICLE VIN# COULD NOT BE LOCATED WITH THE RECALL. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER ON 1-800-992-1997, AND WAS TOLD I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I WILL HIGHLY APPRECIATE YOUR IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION.

SHIFTER MOVES FREELY BETWEEN PARK-REVERSE-NEUTRAL-DRIVE-2ND-1ST GEARS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON AND OFF; AND WITH OR WITHOUT A KEY IN THE IGNITION. IF THE SHIFTER IS BUMPED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE CAN BE THROWN INTO REVERSE AND/OR PARK. WHEN I CONTACTED THE JEEP DEALER IN SPRINGFIELD MISSOURI, I WAS TOLD THAT JEEP HAS SINCE REDESIGNED THE SHIFTER CONTROL AND THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED. COST FOR THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLE IS APPROXIMATELY $480 PLUS LABOR. IF THE PROBLEM IS SO APPARENT THAT IT CAN BE FOUND THOUSANDS OF TIMES USING GOOGLE, AND IF THE MANUFACTURER HAS SINCE REDESIGNED THE ENTIRE SHIFTER CONTROL SYSTEM; THEN ONE WOULD THINK THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL.

ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH TO 70 MPH, THE ENGINE OF THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY, WITHOUT WARNING, WITH THE LOSS OF ALL STEERING OR CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY, WITHOUT WARNING, WITH THE LOSS OF ANY STEERING OR CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE, AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY AND ENTERING CITY TRAFFIC. THAT IS A TOTAL OF FOUR ENGINE SHUT DOWNS OR STALLS WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. WE JUST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, AND THIS IS NERVE-WRECKING AND DANGEROUS TO SAY THE LEAST. THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AFTER DRIVING LONG DISTANCES, AND HAS HAPPENED FROM DRIVING DISTANCES OF APPROXIMATELY 90 MILES TO 160 MILES. IF YOU WAIT APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR, THE VEHICLE WILL THEN START UP AGAIN AND RUN. BUT IT WILL STALL AGAIN WITH COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. OTHERS ON THE INTERNET HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM WITH JEEP 3.7 AND 4.7 POWERTECH JEEP MOTORS. OUR JEEP IS A 3.7 MOTOR. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM AS JEEP EXPERIENCED WITH JEEP COMMANDER AND JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE MODELS, WHICH WERE RECALLED. THIS SITUATION CAN OBVIOUSLY BE LIFE THREATENING. CHRYSLER JEEP SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PUT LIFE TREATING VEHICLES ON THE MARKET AND THESE JEEPS MUST BE RECALLED. WE ASK FOR YOUR HELP IN THIS MATTER BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED.

THE PAIN ON THE OUTSIDE ROOF IS PEELING, I DO LIVE IN A STATE WHERE THE ROADS ARE SALTED HOWEVER, THERE IS NO SALT USED ON THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE, THIS, WHILE NOT A NEW VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE PEELING THE WAY IT IS. THE FRONT WINDSHIELD HAD A SEVERE CHIP & THE INSTALLER WAS BARELY ABLE TO SAND THIS AREA DOWN ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO SEAL THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH & THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ALONG WITH THE REAR WINDOW REGULATORS BOTH OF WHICH HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE EMERGENCY BREAK & THE JEEP DEALERSHIP GIVES ONE REASON FOR THE ABS, ESP AMONG OTHER WHEEL AND BREAKING ISSUES. AND NOW THE ONE THING THAT JEEP IS FINALLY SUPPOSED TO BE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT RATHER THAN ME HAVING TO PUT MORE MONEY INTO THIS VEHICLE FOR, THE GAS TANK RECALL SEEMS TO BE A RIDICULOUS FIX, AND I HAVE BEEN ON A WAITING LIST FOR THIS FOR MONTHS AND STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT IN TO GET THIS FIXED. I SAW A NEWS STORY THAT SAID THAT CHRYSLER WAS BEING MANDATED TO FIX THESE VERY POORLY MADE VEHICLES. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL INTO THE OTHER RECALLS WHEN IT HAS BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE BEEN HAVING BREAKING SYSTEM ISSUES AS LONG BACK AS 13 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE.

TRANSMISSION BROKE! EVERY OWNER OF A 2005 OR 2006 JEEP LIBERTY DIESEL THAT I HAVE SPOKEN WITH,HAS HAD TO REBUILD OR REPLACE THEIR TRANSMISSION.THE MANUFACTURE HAD A RECALL TO TUNE DOWN ENGINE TO HELP PREVENT PROBLEM,I HAD THIS DONE,BUT THIS IS ONLY A TEMP FIX,(A BAND-AID). THE REAL PROBLEM IS A WEAK LINK IN THE TRANNY,(THE TORQUE CONVERTER). WHEN THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILS IT DESTROYS THE TRANSMISSION.. WHICH IS WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO ME. MY JEEP IS 8 YEARS OLD, BUT I ONLY HAD 68,000 MILES ON IT. THE REASON I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE WAS FOR THE LONG SERVICE LIFE OF THE 2.8L DIESEL (300,000 PLUS MILES BEFORE REBUILD). I LIVE IN A SOMEWHAT RURAL AREA AND I HAVE SPOKE WITH OVER 12 PEOPLE WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THERE 2.8L DIESEL TRANSMISSION #545RFE. I KNOW THIS IS A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM,I HAVE GONE ONLINE AND SPOKEN WITH ALOT OF LIBERTY OWNERS AND ALL HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS,I HAVE ALSO SPOKE WITH MANY FORMER LIBERTY OWNERS WHO SAID THEY WOULD NEVER DRIVE ANOTHER JEEP, BECAUSE LACK OF DEALER CONCERNS OVER TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS..THEY HAD! I AM CORRECTING THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE DAMAGED STOCK TRANSMISSION,WITH A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AFTERMARKET ONE MADE FOR THE TORQUE OF A DIESEL ENGINE.. AFTER MAY MONTHS OF THIS HAPPENING DAILY I HAD IT TOWED ON A FLAT BED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FINALLY REPLACED A CABLE THAT CONNECTED THE GEAR SHIFT TO BRAKE AFTER TELLING ME I COULD JUST SLAM REALLY HARD ON THE BRAKE AND IT WOULD JUST DISENGAGE, I SHOULD JUST HAVE DONE THAT INSTEAD OF HAVING IT TOWED. (STUPID ME I GUESS) THEN I HAD THE SAME ABS TRACTION CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEMS I'VE HEARD AND READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT, FIRST TIME TAKING IT IN, THE PROBLEMS STOPPED AND THEY SENT ME HOME. NOW YESTERDAY A YEAR LATER AND AT 48,000 MILES THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. I MADE THEM HOOK IT UP WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING AND THE LIGHTS STILL ON. WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU IS THAT SHUTTING YOUR CAR OFF "STORES" THE CODES. WITH THE CAR STILL ON, THE CODES WERE ACTIVE AND THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM. THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. HOWEVER NOW IT IS OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY AND I HAD TO FIGHT WITH THE GM TO GET IT COVERED. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER THROUGH IT'S ENTIRE RANGE WITHOUT PRESSING THE LOCK BUTTON ON THE SHIFTER KNOB. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE WITHOUT THESE SAFETY MECHANISMS OPERATING CORRECTLY THE SHIFTER CAN BE ACCIDENTALLY KNOCKED ONTO DRIVE. MY 21 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY 2006 LIBERTY ON THE NORTHERN PARKWAY IN WESTBURY, NY ON JANUARY 2, 2008. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN JULY 2006 AND HAS APPROXIMATELY 15,500 MILES ON IT. SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING THE WHEELS LOCKED UP RIPPING OUT THE TRANSFER CASE AND DROPPING THE DRIVE SHAFT ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR BEHIND HER WAS DAMAGED AS IT RAN OVER THE DRIVE TRAIN COMPONENTS. THE DRIVER OF THE DAMAGED CAR SAW FLAMES COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE LIBERTY AND A CLOUD OF BLACK SMOKE. (PROBABLY FROM THE GEAR OIL). INITIALLY I MET WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE INDICATED THE REPAIRS WOULD BE MADE UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER 12 DAYS HE PHONE ME AND SAID ...EITHER THE CAR HIT SOMETHING OR IT WAS DRIVEN IN 4WD LOW ON THE HIGHWAY. NEITHER OF THESE OCCURRED AND JEEP DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE AND WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY. I PHONED CHRYSLER AND THEY WON?T EVEN SEND A REP TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. I GOING ABOUT 60-65 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS A LOT OF SHUDDERING COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND THEN A LOUD KLUNK AND IT CAUSE A SUDDEN DROP IN MY SPEED FROM 65 TO 30 MPH. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED OR HURT, HOWEVER AS IN THE PAST WHEN THIS HAPPEN, ITS WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING A TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL. THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDER HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES WHILE II WAS TRAVELING. MY DEALER HAS KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR, AND I HAVE REPORTED IT TO HIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT MORE THAN 4 TIMES AND THE PROBLEM HAS YET TO BE FIXED. CHRYSLER I BELIEVE KNOWS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP LIBERTY CRD'S DRIVE TRAIN BUT HAS YET TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS WILL BE MY THIRD COMPLAINT TO NHTSA ON THIS. 2006 JEEP LIBERTY CRD BEGAN STALLING WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE. DRIVING STARTED OUT NORMAL, THEN SUDDENLY WHILE AT A STEADY 65 MPH THE JEEP BEGAN MAKING A LOUD NOISE AND NOT RESPONDING TO ACCELERATION. THIS WENT ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY FOR 5 MILES TO THE NEXT EXIT OFF THE FREEWAY, THEN IT OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY ON A HIGHWAY THEN SIDE STREETS UNTIL I MADE IT HOME. FROM A DEAD STOP IT WAS EXTREMELY SLUGGISH TO GET GOING AT ALL. THE SYMPTOMS POINT TO TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUES, I HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD THE TORQUE CONVERTER RECALL WORK DONE AT THE DEALER IN DECEMBER 2006, APPARENTLY THAT DIDN'T EVEN LAST A YEAR. I OWN A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. I HAVE TWO ISSUES. FIRST ONE IS THE REAR BRAKES. I REPLACED MY BRAKE PADS AT 34000 MILES TO FIND MY REAR OUTER BRAKE CALIPERS WERE NOT MAKING CONTACT WITH THE ROTOR ON EITHER WHEEL. THE SVC MGR AT GRINDSTAFF OF ELIZABETHTON, TN TOLD ME MY ROTORS WERE WARPED. THERE IS NO WAY THIS SHOULD HAPPEN AT 34000 MILES. I DRIVE 95% FOUR LANE HIGHWAY MILES TO WORK - NO RED LIGHTS AT ALL. YOU CAN SEE BY LOOKING AT THE ROTORS THE OUTER BRAKE PADS HAVE NEVER MADE CONTACT WITH THE ROTORS. WHEN THE OTHER SIX PADS WERE REPLACED THE OUTER REAR BRAKE PADS WERE NOT WORN ONE BIT AND THE OUTER BRAKE CONTACT SURFACE OF THE ROTOR IS NOT WORN AT ALL. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THE BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID. MY JEEP WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK WHEN IT GETS EXTREMELY HOT INSIDE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT RUNNING THE A/C ABOUT 10 MINS. TO COOL THE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY OFF A LITTLE. IT STICKS IN PARK AND WILL NOT COME OUT. THE SAME DEALER TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT BECAUSE IT'S AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM EVEN WITH IT STILL UNDER WARRANTY (REPORTED AT 33000 MILES). THE SERVICE MGR AT GRINDSTAFF IN ELIZABETHTON, TN SAID THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THREE WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN LOCKING AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO GRIND WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 30 AND 55 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SKIPS AT SPEEDS FROM 0 TO 70 MPH. THE TRANSFER DRIVES FAILED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. IN APRIL OF 2007, NEW HARDWARE WAS INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD FOUR TORT CONVERTERS AND A REBUILT TRANSMISSION INSTALLED, YET THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. AFTER PURCHASING MY DIESEL JEEP I NOTICED A SHUDDERING IN THE TRANSMISSION AT ABOUT 55-65 MILES AN HOUR. CONSIDERABLY WORSE WITH YOU DECELERATE AFTER ACCELERATION. IN A CONSTRUCTION HOLD ON TRAFFIC MY VEHICLE IDLED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. WHEN I WAS CLEARED TO MOVE FORWARD I PUT THE GEAR SELECTOR IN DRIVE. THE JEEP STALLED. IT TOOK ME A SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE MOTOR. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND HAVE COME UP WITH ONE ANSWER. AIR IS IN THE FUEL. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A JEEP DEALER IN OZARK ALABAMA AND IN DOTHAN ALABAMA. CHRYSLER TELLS THEM THAT THE AIR IN MY FUEL SYSTEM IS OK. I AM THE OWNER OF A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED THE NEW VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. AT THAT TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WAS SAID TO BE REPAIRED. SINCE THAT FAILURE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING PROPERLY: THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DID NOT SEEM TO BE SHIFTING SMOOTHLY. FOR THE NEXT 8 MONTHS I TRIED TO HAVE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPAIR THE PROBLEM BUT THEY DID NOT, THE TOLD ME THE "PROBLEM" WAS NORMAL. IN JANUARY 2007, I NOTICED THE PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION WAS GETTING WORSE. I HAD TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR MORE THAN NORMAL TO GET THE CAR TO SHIFT AFTER MAKING A STOP. THE CAR WOULD THEN JERK INTO GEAR WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE ACCELERATOR AND I WOULD SPEED UP MORE THAN WAS SAFE. THE FINAL INCIDENT WAS WHEN I WAS ACCELERATING TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER A STOP AND THE CAR JERKED INTO GEAR ALONG WITH MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND. BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE, WHEN THE CAR JERKED INTO GEAR I WAS SENT OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THANK GOODNESS THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I DROVE TO THE NEAREST SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS QUICKLY DIAGNOSED AS A TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR REPAIRS FOR 22 DAYS BEFORE I GOT IT BACK. PARTS WERE REPLACED IN THE TRANSMISSION BUT ONLY AFTER APPROVAL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING A LITTLE BETTER BUT IT IS STILL NOT RUNNING LIKE IT WAS WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. I WAS DOING A RAPID DECELERATION FOR TRAFFIC SLOWING DOWN SUDDENLY ON US 30 IN YORK COUNTY, PA. I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK AS I SLOWED DOWN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER 5 MINUTES, I GOT BACK IN THE JEEP, STARTED IT UP, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. IT SHIFTED SOMEWHAT NORMALLY ALTHOUGH IT DID SHUDDER A BIT. I DROVE AT A REDUCED SPEED FOR AWHILE AND DID NOTICE THAT THER WAS A SLIGHT TRANSMISSION SHUDDER. THIS WENT AWAY AFTER A FEW MINUETES AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME TO FLORISSANT MISSOURI WITHOUT FUTHER TROUBLE. THIS IS A NEW LIBERTY CRD (DIESEL) WITH 610 MILES THAT WAS ACCELERATING FROM A BORDER PATROL CHECKPOINT ON I-8 EAST OF SAN DIEGO. WHILE ACCELERATING TO ~65 THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER IN HEAVY FREEWAY TRAFFIC AND SLOWED TO 35 MPH EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING GOOD. THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER CAUSED OVERTAKING VEHICLES TO SWERVE VIOLENTLY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT INCLUDING AT LEAST 2 PANIC STOPS. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SAFELY ON THE SHOULDER (ENGINE WAS IDLING FINE) THE CAR WAS SHUTDOWN AND RESTARTED WHICH APPARENTLY RECYCLED THE COMPUTER AND CLEARED THE CONDITION. VEHICLE HAS PERFORMED FINE SINCE THAT INCIDENT. *JB

VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN UP TO RED LIGHT. WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN, VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE LEAVING IT IN TRAFFIC UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED BY THE DEALER TO BE A FAILED TORQUE CONVERTER. THE PART WAS REPLACED, HOWEVER, OTHER PARTS IN ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DAMAGED WERE NOT REPLACED. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT REDESIGNED TORQUE CONVERTER IS NOT YET AVAILABLE BUT COMING. *NM

I AM CURRENTLY LEASING A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. I AM ABLE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND REMOVE THE KEY WHILE STILL IN 'DRIVE'. I DID THIS ONCE AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL AWAY WHEN I STEPPED OUT OF THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK IN THE CAR AND STOP IT. NO ACCIDENT/NO INJURIES. *JB
