The contact stated while driving on the highway at 55 MPH, there was an abnormal popping sound coming from the front passenger’s side, and the vehicle started to skid. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over onto the side of the road to park and inspect the vehicle and became aware that the front passenger’s side lower ball joint was fractured. The vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the lower ball joint was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 213,000.

I was driving down the freeway at 70 mph, and suddenly my car (2006 Jeep Liberty) felt as if the rear end was dragging and I began to lose control of my vehicle. The icy Michigan conditions were no help, but thankfully the drivers surrounding me were attentive and moved out of the way until i was able to regain control and pull onto the shoulder. I had my vehicle towed to a shop, where i was informed the rear control arm had fractured and in turn damaged the rear axle. I found out there was a recall for this EXACT problem on my car, a blessing because my family is struggling very badly financially. BUT, Chrysler says my vehicle's VIN is not listed on the recall and it is not their problem. Not only is this extremely dangerous for all drivers of these effected vehicles, but my kids missed school today because I don't have a functioning vehicle. Manufacturers need to be held accountable and publicly announce ALL VEHICLES THAT COULD BE EFFECTED, not whichever number of vehicles pleases public relations.

The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the abnormal sound was due to a lower control arm failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recalls repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. Driver Front Lower Ball joint failed. Recalled ball joints were replaced in 2006. Spoke to Chrysler in 2020 about both lower ball joint boots being deteriorating and ball joints worn and rusty due to failure of recall work but refused to redo recall due to age of vehicle. Vehicle has less than 100k miles. Ball joint failed when turning from stop sign. Loud pop was heard and grinding from drivers side wheel.

The contact noticed that the ball joint had detached from the wheel. The vehicle was towed to a tire repair shop where the vehicle was diagnosed and the mechanic stated that the front suspension lower ball joint had separated from the wheel. The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in Manufacturer Safety Recall: F23 (Lower Ball Joints). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated the vehicle was not included in Manufacturer Safety Recall: F23 (Lower Ball Joints) and advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 118,000.

The front lower ball joint on the passenger side broke in half which caused my tire to completely separate from the car. Luckily it happened in my driveway, but I had just gotten off the interstate going 75 mph. After replacing it, a closer inspection was done on both upper front ball joints and the driver side lower ball joint. All need replacement. It was a near miss crash, but mine and others safety is still on jeopardy because I can't afford to replace all of them. I haven’t received any recall information in the mail from the manufacturer.
The rear lower control arms on my car are about to break. One has holes all the way through. At 40 mph, vehicle shakes in back. Issue also causes stability control to malfunction. No Jeep dealers that I can use will make appointments before 06/27 even after being shown the terrible condition of the parts. Nor do they offer a loaner car. I contacted Jeep themselves and was offered NO manner of accommodation or compensation. I drive for a living, so I can either risk my safety, or give up two weeks income, and job, waiting for Jeep and it's dealers to fix defective equipment. If Jeep and their dealers are unable/unwilling to fix dangerous recalls in a timely manner, they should either afford customer a rental car, or offer to buy the vehicle at market value. I would have accepted either, and not filed this complaint, had I been offered.

2017 passenger ball joint broke Driving about 25mph, no injuries No recalls were found, towed, repaired 2019 driver side ball joint broke Vehicle was stationary in a wait line at restaurant, no injuries No recalls found, towed, repaired 2021 Christmas night, passenger ball joint breaks again Speed was 60mph, minor injury occurred without medical attention. Haven't been towed or repaired yet.
My back rear control arms/suspension/alignment were recalled, I had them replaced. Now My front control arms/suspension/alignment are very unsafe to drive. Wobbly, unstable, loose, noises, screeching. It Feels like it’s going to break/snap/fall off. Yes my vehicle is available for inspection. I feel unsafe on turns especially. It could snap at any moment and my Jeep could roll injuring me or others. I had a tire/allignment center check the status. No warning lights or messages. The sound and issue has been going on since I got my jeep recall fixed. The dealership hit the front of my Jeep in the parking lot and still has not taken responsibility for their actions and damages done to my Jeep. It was evaluated from Jeep’s body/auto shop estimating at outer damage 1,500$ + and they have not inspected the damage caused to the control arm/suspension/alignment from the employee hitting me Jeep into something moments before returning my Jeep from a recall-fix. Jeeo still has yet to take responsibility for the damages caused. I have not felt safe since then. The steering has been wobbly, the turns make noise and shudder like the wheel is going to break off/fall off or worse snap. I have tried numerous attempts to get these issues resolved with Jeep Liberty of San Diego Camino del rio s. With no responsibility taken from them for the damages they have caused making me Jeep unsafe to drive.

I'VE BEEN TOLD BY MOPAR THAT MY 2006 LIBERTY WAS MADE 5 WEEKS AFTER THE LAST ONE INVOLVED IN THE RECALL.THIS IS INEXCUSABLE. I'VE HAD 3 WINDOW REGULATORS REPLACED. THIS IS A FATALITY WAITING TO HAPPEN IF I DRIVE. I STARTED HEARING AND FEELING THE BALL JOINTS GOING BAD ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. I HARDLY HAVE DRIVEN IT SINCE I WORK FROM HOME NOW. CAN CHRYSLER SEE ALL THESE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE BALL JOINTS AND STILL NOT ADD THESE 06 JEEP'S TO THAT RECALL. THIS IS NOT GOOD BUSINESS AT ALL. PURCHASED 2006 JEEP LIBERTY BRAND NEW, IT IS USED ONLY SEASONALLY. GARAGE KEPT, APPROXIMATE MILEAGE IS 39,300 MILES. SAFETY RECALL ON 2006 JEEP LIBERTY FOR UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS. WHEN TURNING, STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT COME BACK EXCEPT MANUALLY. CHRYSLER ADVISES MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I HAVE SEEN THAT COMMENT SEVERAL TIMES ON THIS SITE. THIS IS NOT MY FIRST ISSUE WITH JEEP VEHICLES. WE WENT TO THE JEEP DEALER WHO STATED THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS, WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHO STATED THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS. THERE ARE 10 RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE, WHENEVER NOTIFIED IT WAS BROUGHT TO JEEP. THE SUSPENSION ISSUE IS A SAFETY RECALL ON 2006 JEEP LIBERTY AND CONVENIENTLY MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. A GARAGE KEPT SEASONALLY USED VEHICLE PROPERLY MAINTAINED WITH 39,000 MILES HAS THIS ISSUE AND IS NOW BEING REPAIRED AT MY EXPENSE. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR OTHER RECALLS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FRONT BALL JOINTS ARE VERY LOOSE AND THAT THIS IS A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE. I CHECKED THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND NOTICED THAT THE YEAR AND MAKE OF MY CAR HAD A RECALL FOR BALL JOINT ISSUES BUT MY VIN NUMBER WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I HAVE A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY.
I WAS LEAVING MY PARKING LOT WHEN I HEARD A CLUNK AND MY DRIVER SIDE OF THE JEEP LOWERED. I GOT OUT AND LOOKED AND MY TIRE WAS TILTED AT AN ANGLE. A COUPLE OF MY NEIGHBORS LOOKED UNDER THE JEEP AND SAID THAT IT WAS THE BALL JOINT AND THAT THE AXLE WAS ON THE GROUND.

I THE VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD THE LEFT SIDE LOWER BALL JOINT GOING BAD. THE TRANSMISSION MODULE IS TRIPPING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS (FRONT AND BACK) MAKES AWFUL SOUND GOING UP. THE AC COMPRESSOR HAS STOPPED WORKING.

IT SEEMS FAR TOO MUCH A COINCIDENCE THAT MY VEHICLE HAS THE SAME REAR BALL JOINTS THAT ARE SUBJECT TO RECALL AND REPLACEMENT, WHICH CHRYSLER HAS DONE, BUT THE FRONT BALL JOINTS WERE NOT COVERED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL. I WAS GOING 35MPH WHEN THE PART FAILED. THE FAILURE CAME WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND WAS INSTANTANEOUS. THE BALL JOINT BROKE AND INSTANTLY PIERCED THE ALLOY RIM AND DEFLATED THE TIRE. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE BACKING PLATES HAD CORRODED AND RUSTED TO SUCH A SEVERE DEGREE THE CAR WAS INOPERABLE WITHOUT EXPENSIVE REPAIRS (557.97 EACH TIME).THE CLOSE TIMING OF THESE INCIDENTS SHOW THAT THE LIFESPAN OF THESE PARTS WERE NOT MADE TO LAST. JEEP DECLINED THE REQUEST TO REIMBURSE EXPENSES PAID, AND FAILED TO ADDRESS THE BIGGER SAFETY CONCERN. I WORRY SOMEONE WILL NOT BE AS LUCKY WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS. SERVICE MANAGER DROVE VEHICLE AND AGREED SOMETHING WAS SERIOUSLY DEFECTIVE. DEALER HAS REPLACED SEVERAL COMPONENTS UNDER WARRANTY, YET VEHICLE STILL HAS SWAYING PROBLEM. VEHICLE IS STILL AT DEALERSHIP SINCE MARCH 13,2009. DEALER SAID THEY ARE STILL WAITING ON AN ANSWER FROM CHRYSLER/JEEP. I EMAILED CHRYSLER SEVERAL TIMES COMPLAINING OF PRIOR PROBLEMS.
