The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormally strong fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed to operate as intended. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle the fuel gauge failed to provide the proper fuel level. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with fuel injector failure. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated the failure occurred frequently after the vehicle was repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was unavailable.

The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 06V341000 (POWER TRAIN), however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. SINCE THE DAY I GOT THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS IT SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP AND ALL LIGHTS ON DASH WOULD LIGHT UP. TURN THE KEY OFF WAIT A MINUTE AND IT WOULD START BACK UP. GROUND WIRE ISSUE, THE DRIVER WINDOW STOPPED WORKING 2X ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THE POWER SIDE MIRROR DOESNT WORK IT. WHILE DRIVING SWITCHES BETWEEN 2 AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE ON ITS OWN. THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE DOESNT WORK. TRANSFER CASE, LINKAGE CABLE BROKEN. THE PART TIME LIGHT STAY FLASHING OR LITE UP ON THE DASH THE DRIVE SHALF BROKE AND LOWER BALL JOINT BROKE WHILE DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING THE LOSS OF TRACTION LIGHTS UP THE DASH. THE RADIATOR FAN STOPPED WORKING, WATER PUMP BROKEN. THE AC COMPRESSOR AND CLUTCH WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE FLIPPED MORE THAN 5 TIMES THROWING THE CONTACT FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE AND WAS UNCERTAIN OF THE EVENTS THAT TOOK PLACE DUE TO BEING UNCONSCIOUS DURING THE FAILURE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED FURTHER MEDICAL TREATMENT DUE TO HEAD AND BODILY INJURIES SUSTAINED FROM THE CRASH. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A YARD BUT HAD NOT INSPECTED THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. WHEN WE WERE RESEARCHING PRICES FOR DRIVE SHAFTS WE NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT IN 2013. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN FEB 2013 AND NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE.

I BACKED MY JEEP LIBERTY SPORT INTO A TURN AROUND AREA, NEEDED TO PUT IT IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE. I PUT IT IN 4 WHEEL HI, THEN PULLED FORWARD. ONCE I WAS OUT OF THE TURN AROUND AREA I PUT IT BACK IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING VERY SLUGGISH. I STOPPED TO MAKE SURE NOTHING WAS STUCK IN THE TIRES OR IN THE WHEEL WELLS. I CONTINUED DRIVING AND IT DID NOT WANT TO GO ABOVE 40 MILES AN HOUR. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES I HEARD A RATHER LOUD POPPING SOUND, FOLLOWED BY WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A CHAIN BEING DRAGGED UNDER THE VEHICLE. I STOPPED TO LOOK UNDER IT BUT DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING, SO I SLOWLY MADE MY WAY TOWARDS HOME. AFTER ANOTHER FEW MINUTES IT WAS BASICALLY UNDRIVABLE, SO I STOPPED AT A FRIENDS HOUSE AND GOT A RIDE HOME. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE MECHANICS THEY TOLD ME THE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HAD BROKEN IN HALF. I GOT THAT REPAIRED JUST TO BE TOLD THAT THE REAR PINION IS SHOT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN FINE UP TILL THAT POINT, AND I HAD USED 4 WHEEL DRIVE ON OTHER OCCASIONS. NOW FOR SOME REASON AFTER USING IT THIS TIME I HAD A $600 BILL TO REPLACE THE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT AND WHAT I AM BEING TOLD IS AT LEAST ANOTHER $600 TO $900 BILL FOR THE REAR PINION. SINCE THE LAST ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE HAD A POOR THROTTLE RESPONSE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE IDLING ON A MODERATELY LEVELED HILL AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS, AND ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE PCM. WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED IT ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V341000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). WEEKS AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED A THIRD TIME. THERE ARE NO WARNING INDICATORS PRIOR TO THE FAILURES. SHE FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,317.

MY JEEP LIBERTY JERKS BETWEEN 35-55 MPH AND 1400-1500 RPMS. THIS HAS CAUSED THE CAR TO SLIP AND SLID ON ICY ROADS. I FIRST NOTICED IT WITH ONLY 200 MILES ON THE CAR. IT HAS BEEN INTO THE SHOP 7 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY HAVE REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER, REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. CHRYLSER SAID THIS IS NORMAL. THE 2007 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT MY PARENTS AND 3 YEAR OLD CHILD WERE IN WAS T-BONED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BY ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS TRAVELING AT APPROX. 45 MPH UPON IMPACT, RESULTING IN THE JEEP ROLLING OVER SEVERAL TIMES. THE OTHER CAR STRUCK THE JEEP DIRECTLY IN THE MIDDLE, CAUSING THE MIDDLE SECTION TO CAVE IN, FORCING THE PASSENGER SEAT INTO THE DASH/GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THE REAR AXLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME, THE DRIVE-TRAIN SEPARATED, THE GAS TANK RUPTURED, AND THE REAR SHOCK SPRINGS CAME OFF. THE PERSON SEATED IN THE FRONT PASS. 2007 LIBERTY DEVELOPED A SHUDDER IN THE POWER TRAIN AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 30-45 MPH. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES IN FIVE WEEKS. THEY CLAIM IT IS A NEW TRANSMISSION DESIGN BY CHRYSLER TO GET BETTER MILEAGE. I CLAIM IT IS THE WORST ACTING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION I HAVE EVER OWNED (40YR OF DRIVING). WE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT. AFTER OWNING IT FOR LESS THAN A MONTH WE STARTED TO NOTICE THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE (OR SHUDDER) WHEN MAINTAINING SPEEDS BETWEEN 35-70 MPH. THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GET WORSE WHEN DRIVING UP HILLS. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO A LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE BACK FOR APPROXIMATELY A MONTH NOW AND ARE EXPERIENCING THE SHUDDER AGAIN. WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE SERVICE SHOP NEXT WEEK. *JB

TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE 2007 JEEP LIBERTY WITH 32000 CURRENT MILEAGE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR A LOWER BALL JOINT AND A TORQUE CONVERTER RECALL THE MECHANIC CUT THE SHROUD THAT COVERED THE FAN .THEREFORE, THE FAN WAS EXPOSED. MY JEEP LIBERTY SPORT CRD HAS 16000 MILES ON IT, AND SINCE NEW IT HAS HAD A SHUDDER OR STUMBLE FROM 50 TO 60 MPH. IT HAS HAD REPAIRS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT IT STILL REMAIN TO THIS DAY. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO LOOSE CONTROL IN THE WINTER CONDITIONS IN MY AREA. WHICH CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO END UP IN THE DITCH. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE IF THERE WAS TRAFFIC AT THE TIME. *JB
