The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the rear upper control arm. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with corrosion on both sides and the rear control arms. The contact was informed that the rear control arms needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure had been persistent, and failure had occurred three times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

Been over 30 days since vehicle was inspected for a recall that requires installing a tow hitch. Manufacturer will not provide an ETA for parts however I can go thru various other methods to obtain parts needed within a few days. Seems like manufacturer is stalling and not wanting to fix issue.

AS YOU'RE ALL AWARE ABOUT THE CONSTANT AND PREDICTABLE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE ON PRETTY MUCH ALL JEEP LIBERTY'S CONTINUES TO THIS DAY. I REALIZE THE WARRANTY HAS BEEN EXTENDED AN ADDITIONAL SEVEN YEARS BUT THE REPLACEMENT PART HASN'T BEEN UPGRADED. MY JEEP HAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES ON IT AND THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED OVER FIFTEEN TIMES. GRANTED THE WARRANTY PAID FOR ABOUT HALF OF THEM BUT I'M DISABLED AND LIVING ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND CAN'T AFFORD THIS DEFECT MUCH LONGER. I THOUGHT ABOUT SELLING IT BECAUSE IT'S OTHERWISE FLAWLESS HOWEVER, WORDS HAS GOTTEN AROUND AND THE RESALE I'M TOLD IS ABOUT 1,500 DOLLARS. AT THE MOMENT TWO OF MY WINDOWS ARE TAPED CLOSED. IF I HAD TO PAY FOR ALL THE REGULATORS THAT FAILED IT WOULD'VE COST APPROXIMATELY 9,000 DOLLARS. SINCE THE 7 YEAR EXTENSION HAS NOW EXPIRED I USUALLY HAVE TO REPLACE ONE ABOUT EVERY 3-4 MONTHS. AND, I ONLY PUT LESS THAN 1000 MILES A YEAR ON MINE. I MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE TRADED IT IN FOR A NEW ONE BUT BECAUSE JEEP DECIDED THE MONEY THEY MADE WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN CUSTOMER LOYALTY COUNT ME OUT AND THE MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE AWARE OF MY SITUATION FEEL THE SAME. I'M SURE YOU HEARD ABOUT THIS SEVERAL MILLION TIMES BY NOW MY COMPLAINT WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO YOUR SPAM MAIL FOLDER. DO AS YOU PLEASE AND ME AND EVERYONE WHO'S AWARE OF THIS WILL DO THE SAME.

THIRD BRAKE LIGHT RUST, DUE TO POOR SEAL AND DESIGN. COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS, WHICH IS SILENT UNTIL THE LIGHT FALLS OUT AND DAMAGE IS BEYOND A SIMPLE REPAIR. I WAS ALERTED TO THIS BY THE AUTO BODY SHOP, THAT TOLD ME IT WAS COMMON IN JEEP LIBERTY, AND DID MY RESEARCH. WE ARE THE ONLY OWNERS, AND IT HAS GOOD SERVICE RECORDS. SPEND HALF OF IT'S TIME PARKED IN A GARAGE, WHY IS THIS A ISSUE. WHY ARE MANY JEEP OWNERS HAVING THIS ISSUE. JEEP IS BEING REPAIRED LIGHT FELL OUT, THEREFORE MAKING IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I WILL HAVE A BILL FOR REPAIR AT COMPLETION. MY HUSBAND WAS LEAVING OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN THE LIGHT WAS NOTICED HANGING, BEFORE IT COULD FALL OUT IN TRAFFIC.

I WAS AWAKENED BY POLICE STATING THAT MY HORN HAD BEEN SOUNDING FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. I DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR COMPARTMENT AND FUSE BOX WERE SOAKING WET. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHO STATED WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE CAR BECAUSE THE SUNROOF HAD A SIGNIFICANT GAP IN THE L/R SUNROOF GLASS; GAP WAS NOT CAUSED BY DAMAGE. THE GAP WAS NOT REPAIRABLE; THE FIX WAS TO TAPE OFF THE OUTSIDE OF THE SUNROOF. THIS STILL LEAVES THE POSSIBILITY THAT WASTER CAN GET INTO THE INNER FUSE BOX AND POSSIBLY CAUSE A SHORT OR A FIRE.

AFTER REVIEWING THE INFORMATION AND REVIEWING CHRYSLERS DETAILED WORK INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FIX WITH PICTURES OF THE VARIOUS LEVELS OF CORROSION (SEE PAGE 8 IN RCRIT-13V252), THINGS DIDN'T MAKE MUCH SENSE. I CALLED THE DEALER BACK AND THEY STATED THE THREADS NOT THE FRAME HAD LEVEL 5 CORROSION. FURTHER IN ON PAGE 10-11 IT TALKS ABOUT REPLACING THESE STUDS IF THEY ARE CORRODED. THEY OFFERED NO REMEDY FOR THE SITUATION OR CORRECTION NEEDED TO PREPARE THE THREADED STUD, THEIR INSTRUCTIONS SAY TO REPLACE ANYWAY. I'M LEFT WITH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT MY FAMILY IN. ATTACHED ARE THEIR DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS AS WELL AS A PICTURE OF THE AREA IN QUESTION.

I MAILED IN THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT FOR THE AFTER-MARKET HITCH TO JEEP AS INSTRUCTED ON THE RECALL POSTCARD FOR REIMBURSEMENT BUT RECEIVED A PHONE CALL TODAY STATING THAT JEEP WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE AFTERMARKET HITCH BECAUSE IT IS NOT AN OEM PART. I THEN REQUESTED TO HAVE AN OEM HITCH PUT ON IN PLACE OF THE ONE I PREVIOUSLY HAD INSTALLED BUT THEY REFUSE. THIS RECALL PROCESS HAS BEEN MISHANDLED BY JEEP ALL AROUND, START TO FINISH, AND NEEDS TO BE BETTER MONITORED BY NTSB OR OTHER APPROPRIATE GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPELLING AUTOMAKERS' COMPLIANCE WITH RECALLS. I OWN A STOCK 2007 JEEP LIBERTY WITH THE 3.7L V6 AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHILE DRIVING HOME THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY ON A BUSY FIVE LANE 50 MPH ROAD. AS I COASTED INTO A DRIVEWAY I SAW HEAVY DARK BLACK SMOKE POURING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AS I OPENED THE HOOD THERE WAS 5-6 INCH FLAMES ON MOST OF THE STOCK WIRING UNDER THE HOOD. THE POSITIVE CABLE THAT RUNS UNDER THE ENGINE RUBBED UNDER THE ENGINE UNTIL IT SHORTED ON THE GROUNDED ENGINE BLOCK SHORTING OUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP AND PUT OUT THE FIRE AND CUT THE NEGATIVE CABLE TO STOP THE OUTBREAK OF ANOTHER FIRE. ALL OF THE CABLES ARE NOW MELTED AND BURNED TOGETHER. THE REPAIR ESTIMATE IS CLOSE TO $5000 WITHOUT FIXING WHAT ACTUALLY CAUSED THE PROBLEM, JUST FIXING THE MELTED WIRES. THE FIRE WAS STARTED BY STOCK WIRES ON A STOCK VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARKWAY BEFORE WE BOUGHT IT AND WENT THROUGH COMPLETELY "FIXING ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT WAS WRONG OR BAD WITH THE VEHICLE." THEY CLEARLY MISSED THIS MAJOR PROBLEM THAT COULD HAVE KILLED TWO TEENAGERS. I HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS NOT THEIR FAULT. WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH OF THE PURCHASE THE MECHANISM INSIDE THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BROKE CAUSING THE WINDOW TO DROP INTO THE DOOR RENDERING IT UNUSABLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPAIRED THE MECHANISM FOR FREE. IN 2012 THE SAME MECHANISM IN THE SAME DOOR BROKE AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE BUT WAS FORCED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF AS JEEP HAS NOT YET RECALLED THE MECHANISM. THIS IS A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE FUEL ISSUE THAT I HAVE SEEN ON HERE ALREADY.WHEN I GO TO PUT FUEL INTO THE GAS TANK, IT WILL NOT STOP AT THE END AS IT'S FILLING UP. IT JUST OVERFLOWS. I WOULD SAY AT LEAST A FEW CUPS OF FUEL FLOWS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND DOWN INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE AND WHEEL WELL. I KNOW THAT AT SOME POINT IT WILL LEAD TO RUST/CORROSION AMONG MANY OTHER ISSUES. I REALLY WISH THIS COULD BE LOOKED AT AND POSSIBLY FIXED BY MANUFACTURER. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT THERE ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE, WITH NO HELP FROM THE MANUFACTURER. I ALSO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AS OTHERS WITH THE WINDOWS. THE REGULATOR HAS A PIECE THAT BREAKS AND THEN THE WHOLE REGULATOR HAS TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES ALREADY ON DIFFERENT WINDOWS. LASTLY, I JUST RECENTLY HAD AN ISSUE WHERE THE JEEP WOULDN'T START. THE CONSOLE LIGHTS AND GUAGES WORK FINE AND IT ACTED LIKE ALL WAS WELL, BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T TURN OVER WHEN THE KEY WAS TURNED. THE RESULT WAS THE IGNITION SWITCH ACTUATOR PIN. IT HAS A PIECE THAT BREAKS OFF AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS, THE JEEP WONT BE ABLE START. IT ISN'T AN EASY FIX FOR SOMEONE WHO ISN'T MECHANICALLY CAPABLE. AGAIN, THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY PEOPLE AND HONESTLY THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I COULD COMPLAIN ABOUT MORE, BUT LET'S JUST LEAVE IT AT THAT. *TR

2007 JEEP PATRIOT. CONSUMER STATES WATER POURED INTO VEHICLE OVER DASHBOARD DURING RAIN *TGW THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE RAIN CAME THROUGH THE LIGHT FIXTURE AND ALSO THE SMALL SEAMS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CEILING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A GLASS REPAIR SHOP, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY LEAKS IN THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONSUMER STATED DURING ANOTHER RAINSTORM, WATER BEGAN COMING DOWN ON THE HER HEAD. A YEAR LATER, HOT WATER BEGAN POURING ONTO THE CONSUMER'S FEET WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER INFORMED HER, THE CHANNELS WERE CLOGGED. THERE WAS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH A LATCH HOLDING A SPEAKER IN THE HATCH. SOMEHOW, THE LATCH SNAPPED IN HALF AND EVERY TIME, THE CONSUMER OPENED THE HATCH, IT WOULD COME DOWN EXTREMELY FAST. THE LATCH WASN'T ACCESSIBLE UNLESS THE SPEAKER WAS DOWN. ON ONE OCCASION, HER SON WAS BEING HELD BY SOMEONE AND WHEN THE HATCH WAS LIFTED, THE SPEAKER CAME FLYING DOWN INTO THE CHILD'S FACE, WHICH RESULTED IN A BLEEDING GASH ON HIS FOREHEAD. *JB

JEEP LIBERTY: DUE TO A DISABILITY, I CANNOT REACH SNOW ON ROOF TO CLEAR. DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH, BRAKING TO SLOW DOWN FOR STOP SIGN, ALL THE HEAVY SNOW ON ROOF SLID FORWARD, COMPLETELY COVERED WINDSHIELD. I WAS A BLIND DRIVER FOR AT LEAST 100 FEET. NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME THIS TIME, THANK GOD. HAD TO STOP IN MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD TO CLEAR WINDSHIELD. NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN WITH ANY CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. I AM 62 AND OWNED A LOT OF CARS. THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW TWICE. NOW A THIRD TIME AND JEEP/ CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP STATES THAT REPAIR INVOLVES A NEW REPLACEMENT REGULATOR AND A NEW WINDOW WHICH COST, $499.29. THE 2007 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT MY PARENTS AND 3 YEAR OLD CHILD WERE IN WAS T-BONED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BY ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS TRAVELING AT APPROX. 45 MPH UPON IMPACT, RESULTING IN THE JEEP ROLLING OVER SEVERAL TIMES. THE OTHER CAR STRUCK THE JEEP DIRECTLY IN THE MIDDLE, CAUSING THE MIDDLE SECTION TO CAVE IN, FORCING THE PASSENGER SEAT INTO THE DASH/GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THE REAR AXLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME, THE DRIVE-TRAIN SEPARATED, THE GAS TANK RUPTURED, AND THE REAR SHOCK SPRINGS CAME OFF. THE PERSON SEATED IN THE FRONT PASS. SEAT SUSTAINED A SPINAL FRACTURE AND BRAIN HEMORRHAGING. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INTERNAL BRUISING/DAMAGE FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL, ULTIMATELY BREAKING THE STEERING COLUMN.
