TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOWS FAILED TO ROLL UP AND ROLL DOWN AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT HAD THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW REPLACED AT YOUNGBLOOD AUTO GROUP (3410 S CAMPBELL AVE, SPRINGFIELD, MO 65807, (417) 882-3838) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDOWS ALSO EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE CONTACT USED AN OBJECT TO KEEP WINDOWS IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW WAS DEACTIVATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (BERWICK DODGE LOCATED AT 1127 PINE ST BERWICK, PA 18603) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOWS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ADVISED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE POWER LIFT UNIT DUE TO A BROKEN PLASTIC CLIP THAT HELD THE WINDOW UP. THIS CAUSES THE WINDOW TO SLIP DOWN INTO THE INSIDE THE DOOR FRAME. THIS COMPLAINT IN REGARDS TO THE BLOWER MOTOR. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THE BLOWER MOTOR ON MY JEEP BECAUSE THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I'VE HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. THE FIRST TIME WAS TAKEN CARE OF BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AFTER MY PURCHASE IN 2014. BUT IT HAS GONE OUT AGAIN. THIS TIME THE BLOWER MOTOR HAD GOTTEN SO HOT THAT IT MELTED THE WIRE CASING OF THE WIRES. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE. THE COMPANY SAID THAT SINCE IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY IT'S NOT THERE PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT SOMEONE SHOULD LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM WITH THE BLOWER MOTORS. I HAD ALSO CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON TRAILER HITCH. WHILE I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THEM I ASKED ABOUT THE BLOWER MOTOR. THEY SAID THAT THERE WASN'T A RECALL ON IT. BUT THE PERSON I SPOKE TO HAD SAID HE HAS THE SAME VEHICLE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM AND THAT HE HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL BLOWER MOTOR AND CHRYSLER SHOULD TAKE IT SERIOUSLY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE IT STARTS A FIRE. THE CONSUMER'S HUSBAND MANAGED TO GRAB ENOUGH OF THE GLASS TO PULL IT UP. IN DECEMBER OF 2010, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER WHICH EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, IT WAS ONLY EXTENDED TO SEVEN YEARS FROM THE DATE OF SERVICE, WHICH IN HER CASE WAS JULY 2, 2007. ON MARCH 15, 2011, THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW WAS REPAIRED AFTER FALLING DOWN. ON JUNE 13, 2013, THE LEFT REAR WINDOW WAS REPAIRED FOR A SECOND TIME, AND ON AUGUST 21, 2014 THE LEFT FRONT WINDOW FAILED AGAIN. *JB

I HAVE TEMPORARILY HELD THE WINDOWS UP WITH ZIP TIES. I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS. NONE OF MY WINDOWS ROLL DOWN NOW! WE JUST HAD THE 4TH WINDOW SLIDE DOWN AND NOW JEEP IS SAYING THE WARRANTY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT AND THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER. MY WINDOW ISSUES HAVE NOT BEEN RESOLVED! I AM EXHAUSTED FROM NOT ONLY FIGHTING WITH CHRYSLER ABOUT THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS, BUT ALSO FROM THE INCONVENIENCE OF HAVING THESE WINDOWS FAIL. I HAVE DRIVEN FOR HOURS IN THE RAIN WITH A WINDOW OPEN AND I HAVE DRIVEN FOR HOURS AT SUBZERO TEMPS ON AN EXPRESSWAY IN A BLIZZARD WITH A WINDOW OPEN. AND I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE AROUND WITH PLASTIC TAPED TO MY WINDOW (LOOKS HORRENDOUS) AND RISK HAVING PERSONAL AFFECTS STOLEN DUE TO MY INABILITY TO SECURE MY VEHICLE. I EXPECT TIRES AND BRAKES TO WEAR AND HOSE AND BELTS TO FAIL OVER TIME. I DO NOT EXPECT TO PAY TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR A VEHICLE THAT HAS FAULTY WINDOWS!! ON 7/16/14 THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW DROPPED INTO THE DOOR-FRAME AND THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING THE DRIVEWAY AGAIN. THIS WAS REPORTED TO CHRYSLER CLAIMS AND THE AUGUST DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP AT 1201 GREENVILLE AVE, STAUNTON, VA 24401 (540)885-0875 ON 7/16/14. SPOKE TO JULIE, EMPLOYEE ID JE779 REFUSED CLAIM ON 7/16/14, BECAUSE OF MILEAGE. SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE WINDOW WAS NEVER PROPERLY REPAIRED ON THE FORMER RECALL. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE WINDOW COMPLETELY JUST FELL OUT ON ITS OWN, JUST SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND WINDOWS DO NOT JUST FALL OUT. I AM REQUESTING THAT THIS MODIFICATION BE CORRECT AND COMPLETE AND REIMBURSED BY THE ABOVE DEALER WHICH DID NOT DO A COMPLETE REPAIR THE FIRST TIME. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENT. FIXED THE LEFT REAR FOR FREE. WHEN THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL, THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. NOW MY 3RD ONE WAS JUST INSPECTED AND AN ESTIMATE GIVEN ($391) TO REPAIR IT ALSO. WITH 2 CAR SEATS IN THE REAR, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT JEEP REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR. IVE NOTIFIED JEEP 3 TIMES AND THEY STILL REFUSE TO REPAIR THIS.THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS JEEP FOR THE WINDOWS, HOWEVER THEY SAY NOT THIS EXACT PART THAT KEEPS BREAKING. PLEASE HELP ME. 2007 JEEP LIBERTY - POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE: JUNE 3 - 2014 - THE RIGHT FRONT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED AND BECAME INOPERABLE. ON JULY 10, 2014, THE RIGHT REAR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED, AND THE WINDOW ROLLED DOWN ON ITS OWN WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE WINDOW BECAME INOPERABLE AND COULD NOT BE ROLLED BACK UP. IN THE SERVICE TECH'S REPORT, THE WINDOW REGULATOR "CAME APART." CHRYSLER-JEEP HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THIS PART TO SEVEN YEARS FROM SERVICE DATE THROUGH MARCH 7, 2014 OR ONE MILLION MILES, WHICHEVER CAME FIRST. THEREFORE THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE REPAIR COST UNDER WARRANTY. I AM SENDING THIS REPORT BECAUSE I BELIEVE THESE TWO INCIDENTS HAVE IDENTIFIED AN IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE. BECAUSE THE FAILURE CAUSES THE WINDOW TO ROLL DOWN ON ITS OWN AND BECOME INOPERABLE, IF IT DOES SO AT HIGHWAY SPEED OR IN INCLEMENT CONDITIONS THIS COULD PRESENT A SAFETY HAZARD. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE, THE FIRST OF 3 OCCURRENCES OF THE REAR WINDOWS FALLING HAPPENED. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE FIRST ONE, THE SECOND ONE I HAD TO PAY $100 DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COVER THE COST TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP. TODAY WHILE WE WERE OUT WE NOTICED THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW IS STARTING TO ACT UP. THAT'S THREE OUT OF 4 MESSING UP OR MESSED UP AND ONE HAS CAUSED US NOT TO BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR AT ALL. THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW HAS FAILED ONCE (8/29/09) AND THE REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. ALL 4 TIMES, THE CAR WAS PARKED AND I FOUND THE WINDOW DOWN AND WAS UNABLE TO GET IT BACK UP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE BACK AND USE THE WINDOW LOCK SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO OPEN THE WINDOW. HAVING AN UNRELIABLE WINDOW THAT CAN FALL DOWN AT ANY TIME IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANYONE WITH PASSENGERS IN THE BACK. I HAVE AN EXTENDED LIFETIME WARRANTY AND HAVE HAD TO PAY $100 DEDUCTIBLE EVERYTIME I'VE TAKEN IT IN FOR THESE REPAIRS. THE CLAIM TO HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT WINDOWS AS THEY NOW HAVE A DIFFERENT "CONNECTOR" FOR THE POWER WINDOW UNIT. THE DRIVERS WINDOW GOES DOWN NORMALLY, BUT IS VERY SLOW TO COME UP AND SOMETIMES STOPS. I HAVE TO MANUALLY 'HELP' IT UP. THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW HAS WORKED FINE SINCE THE SAME REPAIR. THE REAR WINDOWS HAVE BOTH BEEN REPAIRED HOWEVER THE DRIVERSIDE PASSENGER WINDOW HAS NOW STARTED TO FALL ON ITS OWN. IT HAS NOT BEEN USED SINCE IT WAS LAST REPAIRED EXCEPT THE DAY OF THE REPAIR WHEN I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE IT WAS GOOD TO GO. I'VE LEARNED THAT THE PARTS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED ARE PLASTIC AND BREAK DOWN REGULARLY AND NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH METAL ONES. THESE PLASTIC PARTS ARE EASILY BROKEN AND THUS MAKE IT EASY TO BREAK INTO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE USE OF A STEEL HOOK AND PRESSURE. JEEP NEEDS TO SERIOUSLY ADDRESS THIS. WINDOWS HAVE FAILED IN A RAIN STORM ON DRIVER'S SIDE AND WAS DIFFICULT TO SEE TO DRIVE SAFELY. FAILURE OF THE BACK SIDE WINDOWS CAUSES A NEAR DEAFENING FLUTTER OF SOUND DUE TO THE WIND PASSING BY/THROUGH THE OPENING OF THE WINDOW. IN EACH INSTANCE, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED A DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATOR AND IN SOME INSTANCES THE GLASS WINDOW AS WELL. I'M ON MY SECOND OR THIRD REPLACEMENT OF EVERY SIDE WINDOW (4 EACH TOTAL). OCCASIONALLY THE WIND PULLS THE PROTECTIVE COVERING OFF, AND WE HAVE RAIN STAINS ON THE SEATS AS A RESULT. THE TOTAL COST IS $423.00. I AM A SINGLE GIRL ON A TIGHT BUDGET AND I BOUGHT THIS JEEP 3 MONTHS AGO, NOT REALIZING THAT ALL OF MY REGULATORS WOULD BREAK. TO DATE, MY DRIVER REGULATOR AND MY LEFT PASSENGER SIDE REGULATOR HAVE BROKE. I'M LOOKING AT $846.00 TO FIX THIS AND I BELIEVE THIS MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS PART. THE PART FOR THIS WINDOW TOOK ONLY FIVE DAYS TO REACH THE DEALERSHIP AND THE VERY DAY THAT IT WAS REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW REGULATOR LET THE WINDOW DROP AND I COULD NOT GET IT TO COME BACK UP. FINALLY USED A PAIR OF NEEDLENOSE PLIERS TO GET HOLD OF IT AND THEN TAPE IT UP. OF COURSE, THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT HAVE THIS PART IN STOCK. THE DEALER REPAIRED ALL OF THE DOORS FOR FREE, BUT WOULD NOT REPAIR THE WINDOWS. CURRENTLY, ALL OF THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN AND WILL COST $580 TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,400.

I HAVE HAD MY WINDOWS FALL AND NOT GO BACK UP 5 DIFFERENT TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED MY 2007 JEEP LIBERTY,NOV 2007. EVERY TIME I TAKE IT IN AND GET IT FIXED THE DEALER SAYS THEY HOPE THIS TIME WILL BE THE LAST. ONE TIME WHEN THE LEFT REAR WINDOW FELL THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN BECAUSE OF THE PRESSURE FROM THE BROKEN WINDOW MOTOR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS SINCE THE WINDOW WILL NOT STAY UP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I ALSO HAVE SEVERAL STAINS ON MY STAIN RESISTANT SEATS FROM WATER, RAIN AND BOTTLED WATER WHICH IS NOT DIRTY. *TR

THE FRONT DRIVER WINDOW GOES UP CROOKED AND HAS TO BE LET DOWN AND UP SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE IT GO UP CORRECTLY. THE POWER WINDOWS ON MY JEEP LIBERTY MADE A POP WHEN GOING UP AND THE WINDOW FAILED TO SHUT (BACK PASSENGER); I HAD TO MANUALLY LODGE IT UP. A FEW HOURS LATER THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DID THE SAME THING; HOWEVER, IT ALSO MADE THE DOOR UN-OPERABLE LOCKING MY CHILD IN WHICH REQUIRED HIM TO GO OUT THE OTHER DOOR. IF THERE HAD BEEN A WRECK MY CHILD COULD HAVE BEEN TRAPPED INSIDE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM STATING THE REGULATORS AND MOTORS NEEDED REPLACING. I ASKED THEM WHAT CAUSED THE DOOR TO LOCK AND THEY SAID THE CABLE PULLEY WHICH CONTROLS THE WINDOWS WRAPPED AROUND THE LOCKING MECHANISM AND FROZE THE DOOR. WELL A FEW MONTHS HAVE PASSED AND THE WINDOWS ARE ONCE AGAIN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX THESE ITEMS THOUGH THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY WORKED ON THEM. I HAVE RELOCATED FROM GA TO VA AND WOULD NOT HAVE THE SAME DEALER. WHEN THESE WINDOWS FALL WHILE DRIVING IT STARTLES YOU TO THE POINT OF PANIC BECAUSE THE REAR WINDOWS MAKES A FUNNY SOUND WHEN DOWN (THE WAY THE AIR CURRENT HITS THE CAR); WHICH CAN BE QUITE DISTRACTING. I HOPE YOU WILL DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM SO IT DOESN'T CAUSE A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THOSE NOT EXPECTING IT. ANOTHER PROBLEM WHEN DRIVING IF YOU HIT THE GAS IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BACK END SLIPS AND WILL NOT GO OR WILL JUST JERK AND SLIP ON THE ROADWAY. *TR

WINDOW REGULATORS ON MY JEEP LIBERTY REPEATEDLY FAILING. I'VE HAD TO HAVE THE REGULATORS REPAIRED FIVE TIMES ON A 2007 VEHICLE. WINDOWS FALL DOWN WHILE DRIVING IN THE VEHICLE AND WON'T ROLL BACK UP. I'VE CONTACTED LOCAL DEALERS AND THEY ARE ALSO FRUSTRATED AND SAID JEEP WON'T RECALL THE VEHICLES AND CREATE A PERMANENT FIX. I ALSO CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND THEY WERE NOT HELPFUL TO ME -- THEY SHIFTED FOCUS TO THE DEALER. ALSO, LIKE THE OTHER POST, MY CAR HAD WATER ON THE SEAT AND IT CREATED A PERMANENT BROWN STAIN. IT WAS BOTTLED WATER. THE SEATS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE STAIN RESISTANT AND THEY ARE NOT. CHRYSLER IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS, THE SEATS AND THE WINDOW REGULATORS ARE DEFECTIVE! *TR

2007 JEEP LIBERTY ALL MOTORS IN THE WINDOWS ARE FAULTY. HAVE CONDUCTED RESEARCH IN ONLINE FORUMS AND HAVE CONCLUDED THAT MOST CONSUMERS OF 2001-2007 JEEP LIBERTY'S ARE HAVING SAME ISSUES WITH POWER WINDOW FAILURE. MOST ISSUES ARE FIXED DURING WARRANTY, AND CONTINUE TO OCCUR UNTIL LONG AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES. ALSO** THE SEATS ON 2003-2007 JEEP LIBERTY'S ARE REPORTED AS BEING STAIN RESISTANT. SOMETHING WITHIN THE SEAT FABRIC CAUSES THE SEATS TO STAIN WITH A BROWNISH COLOR AFTER ANY LIQUID SUBSTANCE HITS THEM. HAVE RAN A TEST ON MY OWN VEHICLE WITH FILTERED TAP WATER AND BROWN STAIN STILL CONTINUED TO APPEAR. ADDRESSED DAIMLER CHRYSLER ABOUT ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS "BAD RAIN IN MY AREA". I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT EVERY STATE IN THIS COUNTRY HAS BAD RAIN PROBLEMS AND IN ANY CASE RAIN SHOULD NOT CAUSE A STAIN ON THE UPHOLSTERY OF A 20,000+ DOLLAR VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THAT A LAWSUIT SHOULD BE FILED AGAINST DAIMLER CHRYSLER DEMANDING A RECALL ON ALL SEATS AND POWER WINDOWS WITH A FIX TO THE SOLUTION OR SHOULD HAVE TO REIMBURSE EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER ALL THE MONEY THEY HAVE SPENT OVER THE YEARS TRYING TO FIX THESE RE-OCCURRING ISSUES. AFTER MINIMAL USE OF THE REAR WINDOWS ON MY 2007 JEEP LIBERTY I HAVE HAD 3 FAILURES. I BOUGHT THE JEEP IN JANUARY 2007 AND HAD NO PROBLEMS UNTIL AUGUST 2008. AT THAT POINT I HAD THE DRIVERS REAR WINDOW REPAIRED DUE TO THE INADEQUATE WINDOW MECHANISM. IN JULY 2008 THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW WENT DOWN FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REPAIRS WERE BEING COMPLETED WITH A HIGHER QUALITY SYSTEM SO THAT IT WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE. IN AUGUST 2008 THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW BROKE AGAIN. AT THIS POINT I HAVE HAD TO LEAVE WORK 3 TIMES TO GET REPAIRS ON MY WINDOWS. THE DEALERSHIP THIS TIME TOLD ME THAT JEEP IS NOT PROVIDING A BETTER SOLUTION TO FIXING THE WINDOWS. WHEN I CALLED AND TOLD THEM THE ISSUE WITH THE WINDOW THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY ASKED IF IT WAS A LIBERTY. APPARENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY SEE SEVERAL TIME DAILY. MY QUESTION IS WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUE FROM JEEP IF THERE IS SUCH A HIGH VOLUME IN REPAIRS. ALTHOUGH MISSING WORK EVERY FEW MONTHS TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT A HUGE INCONVENIENCE I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE SAME REPAIRS AFTER THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR

I HAD TO GET TWO WINDOW REGULATORS REPLACED IN MY 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. THE JEEP HAS 19,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE FIRST WAS REPLACED. ANOTHER WAS DONE AT 30,000. I AM NOW AT 32,000 AND THE ONE THE WAS REPLACED AT 19,000 IS BAD AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP IS QUICK TO REPLACE THE REGULATORS, AND I'VE BEEN TOLD DIRECTLY FRONT HE DEALERSHIP THAT THESE ARE A COMMON PROBLEM. MY WARRANTY RUNS OUT IN 3,000 MILES AND THEN IT WILL COST ME 79 FOR THE PART, PLUS THE LABOR OF HAVING IT INSTALLED EVERYTIME ONE GOES BAD. THE JEEP BRAND SHOULD BE LOOKING INTO THE ISSUE INSTEAD OF SIMPLY REPLACING THEM WHEN THEY GO BAD. TYPICALLY WHEN THEY STOP WORKING, THE WINDOW WILL EITHER FALL, OR GET STUCK DOWN. IT IS AN INCONVENIENCE TO KEEP HAVING TO RETURN TOT HE DEALER EVER COUPLE OF MONTHS TO KEEP MY WINDOWS WORKING PROPERLY. *TR
