Everytime I get gas the full tank spits gas back at you which gets everywhere drips down the vehicle on to the ground. Very dangerous.
I currently own two of the same year vehicles. They BOTH have the same problem with the ECM. I have also spoken with multiple people who own Jeep vehicles @ the same year. We all seem to have; lifter, Rod knocks, oxygen sensors and ECM that have caused multiple other problems (and severe accidents) due to their malfunctioning. I have had both of my vehicles to licensed mechanics, who have advised me of the same problem. One of the 2011 Jeep Libertys have been owned by me since brand new, the other was bought used. PLEASE PLEASE help us out!!! I have spent so much money trying to repair these vehicles!!! THE ECM & OXYGEN SENSOR need to be recalled!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL TANK STOPPED MIDWAY INTO FILLING UP. AS A RESULT, THE FUEL SPILLED ONTO THE GROUND. THE FUEL NOZZLE SHUT OFF REPEATEDLY, WHICH THE CONTACT FELT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 109,000.

DURING FILLING UP WITH GAS, WITH THE VEHICLE PARKED ON LEVEL GROUND WITH ENGINE OFF, THE FUELING NOZZLE WILL CLICK OFF WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. HOWEVER, APPROXIMATELY 1 SECOND AFTER THE NOZZLE CLICKS OFF, A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL SURGES BACK OUT ONTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, THE OPERATOR, AND THE GROUND. ESTIMATE ABOUT 1-2 CUPS OF FUEL. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER FUELING FAST OR SLOW. ! ASIDE FROM DAMAGING THE PAINT AND FINISH ON THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPLASHING ONTO THE OPERATOR CREATES A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION!

WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, THE PUMP WILL STOP WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. THEN HOWEVER, THE TANK BURPS UP FUEL ALL OVER THE PLACE, AT LEAST A COUPLE CUPS WORTH. THIS MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO FILL UP THE TANK ALL THE WAY, AND IF I DO THEN GASOLINE GETS SPILLED ALL OVER THE PLACE: THE GROUND, THE CAR BODY, AND ALL OVER THE TIRE. NOT SAFE.

ROMANO CHRYSLER JEEP (215 W GENESEE ST, FAYETTEVILLE, NY 13066) STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I OWNED MY 2011 JEEP LIBERTY SINCE NOVEMBER 2010. WHEN FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS, AS IT NEARS FULL, THE GASOLINE EXPELS OUT OF THE TANK. THIS HAPPENS NINE OUT OF 10 TIMES THAT I FILL THE TANK , AND HAS HAPPENED AS LONG AS I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE.
JEEP WILL NOT START AFTER IT RUNS FOR A WHILE. IF IT SITS FOR 15 MINUTES, IT WON'T START. IT CRANKS OVER BUT DOES NOT START. IF I WAIT ANOTHER 15 MINUTES OR SO, THEN IT WILL START. ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS FILLING GAS TANK. IT WILL SPILL GAS OUT AT YOU OR KEEP SHUTTING GAS NOZZLE OFF WHEN FILLING AT GAS STATION. THIS ISN'T A ONE TIME PROBLEM. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. GAS STATION ATTENDANT GETS VERY FRUSTRATED TRYING TO FILL TANK.

THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH GASOLINE OVERFLOWING FROM THE TANK OF OUR 2011 LIBERTY AFTER THE GAS PUMP HAS SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENS AFTER THE INITIAL SHUT OFF AS WE ARE NOT TOPPING OFF THE TANK. ABOUT 1 SECOND AFTER THE PUMP STOPS AUTOMATICALLY GASOLINE WILL SPRAY OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AND ALL OVER THE GROUND. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT FILLING STATIONS; SO IT DOES NOT SEEM LIKE A PUMP ISSUE. IT ONLY HAPPENS AFTER THE PUMP HAS STOPPED. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WHILE THE GAS PUMP IS RUNNING.

VEHICLE PURCHASED NEW IN APRIL 2011. 3 YEARS LATER IN MAY 2014, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SPEWING FUEL OUT WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE AT ANY AND ALL GAS STATIONS. A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, ONTO THE GROUND AND ONTO PANTS AND SHOES IF YOU ARE STANDING CLOSE TO THE VEHICLE. THE GAS FUMES GET INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN YOU OPEN THE VEHICLE DOOR. THIS POSES A HAZARD TO THE PERSON PUMPING THE GAS, TO OCCUPANTS INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND TO BY STANDERS. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET FOR JEEP SUV'S. I HAVE REPLACED THE ESMI HOUSING 2 TIMES, AND THIS DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I AM NOW TOLD I WILL NEED TO REPLACE MY ENTIRE GAS TANK BECAUSE THE ROLLOVER ANTISPILL VALVE INSIDE THE TANK IS DEFECTIVE. I FOUND A RECALL CALLED M11 WHICH FIXES ONLY 2012 JEEP COMPASS AND 2012 JEEP PATRIOT VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
