TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A STATE INSPECTION SITE, BUT FAILED DUE TO SEVERE RUST OF THE SUBFRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JIM SHORKEY NORTH HILLS CHRYSLER JEEP (7670 MCKNIGHT RD, PITTSBURGH, PA 15237) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.

ENTIRE SUBFRAME AND CROSSMEMBER RUSTED BEYOND REPAIR, NEEDS COMPLETE REPLACEMENT. I NOTICED AN ODD CLINKING SOUND WHEN DRIVING OVER EVEN THE SMALLEST OF BUMPS, OR WHEN TURNING. I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED AND WHEN THE MECHANIC LIFTED IT, I WAS TOLD THE ENTIRE UNDERSIDE WAS COVERED IN RUST! I HEARD OF THE CROSSMEMBER EXTENDED WARRANTY SO I TOOK IT TO MAC HAIK JEEP FOR A DIAGNOSIS, THEY TOLD ME 3 - 5K TO REPLACE ALL PARTS, THAT ONLY THE CROSSMEMBER WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THEY ADVISED ME TO BUY A NEW CAR.

-REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED. THE ENTIRE DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPLACED BY JEEP THROUGH UNLIMITED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. PROBLEM SOLVED. -THE FRAME AND BODY BEGUN TO RUST. THE PROBLEM STARTED TO APPEAR WHEN THE CAR WAS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD. THE PROBLEM WAS BROUGHT UP TO JEEP. JEEP DECLINED TO FIX OR ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. -ENGINE STALLS EVERY 11 SECONDS. FAULTY CODE SHOWS: P2107: THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL MODULE PROCESSOR. THE THROTTLE MODULE WAS REPLACED TWICE. PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. VERY UNSAFE DUE TO LOSS OF STEERING. CURRENTLY, THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEABLE - PROBLEM NOT FIXED. 04/01/2021: ODI # CHANGED FROM 10896825 TO 10896752 AS PART OF ROUTINE DATA CLEANUP.

DESIGN FLAW CAUSE THE AC DRIPS RIGHT ON FRAME CAUSING RUST . DEALERSHIP SAID NO SETRVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BUT THEY LIED . FINALLY GOT A GOOD QUOTE TO HAVE FIXED GONNA COST 775 TO FIX . I HAVE ALSO CHANGED MY FRONT SUSPENSION COMPONENTS 3 TIMES . BALL JOINTS , TIE RODS ETC AND THE OTHER PARTS . ONLY SAVING GRACE IS ITS PAID FOR AND LIFETIME POWER TRAIN WARRANTY .

THE ESP/BAS WARNING LIGHT WOULD GO OFF BUT COME BACK ON AGAIN AFTER MAKING A TURN. I NOTICED MY LEFT, REAR TIRE WAS WEARING OUT ON THE INSIDE. TREAD ON OTHER 3 TIRES HAD NO UNEVEN WEAR. ON DEC. 23, 2015 I BROUGHT MY JEEP INTO PALM CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE OF PUNTA GORDA, FLORIDA FOR A MULTIPOINT INSPECTION AND OIL CHANGE. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY REAR SUB CHASSIS WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND REPAIRS EXCESSIVE. I WAS INFORMED BY MY SERVICE ADVISOR -- KRISTIE WILKINSON, REPAIRS WOULD EXCEED WHAT THE JEEP IS WORTH AND THAT RUST IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AND IT IS NOT EVEN COVERED UNDER MY LIFETIME MAXIMUM CARE CHRYSLER SERVICE CONTRACT (# 34813970) I PURCHASED IN ADDITION TO THE REGULAR WARRANTY. THE NEXT DAY I WAS SHOWN THE SEVERE RUST ON THE REAR CHASSIS SUBFRAME BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND TECHNICIAN. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE REAR OF MY JEEP'S WEIGHT IS RESTING ON TOP OF THE TRANSFER CASE, AND IF HE JUST HIT THE REAR WITH A HAMMER ONE TIME IT WILL FALL APART IN PIECES AND THAT THE JEEP WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. MY RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THIS IS A FAULT/WEAKNESS THAT IS ALREADY RECOGNIZED BY CHRYSLER CORP. IN THE 2007 JEEP PATRIOTS AND IS COVERED BY THEM UNTIL 2017. AFTER SNOW HAS MELTED, THE MAPLIGHT LEAKS WATER ALL OVER THE INSIDE. I'M CONCERNED THAT THERE WILL BE WIRING ISSUES FOR THE SUNROOF AND THE LIGHT AS WELL AS ANYTHING IN THE DASH DUE TO THE WATER GOING EVERYWHERE. WATER SHORTED OUT WIRES RUNNING UNDER THE FLOOR FOR DASH LIGHTS, ANTI LOCK BRAKES WANTED TO KICK IN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, 4WHEEL DRIVE WOUDL NOT WORK AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. THIS WEEK HAD IT IN FOR THE 5-YEAR CHECK UP AND IN THE NOTES IT STATED THAT THE FRONT CONTROL ARMS ARE BAD. DID A SEARCH TO FIND OUT MORE DETAILS AND CAME ACROSS ALL THESE POSTS FROM OTHER USERS. LOOKS LIKE I'M NOW STUCK WITH A LARGE REPAIR, SIMILAR TO OTHER USERS, FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS AN ISSUE EARLY ON. ALL THE MILES HAVE BEEN HIGHWAY MILES. NOT AT ALL HAPPY RIGHT NOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE DRAIN TUBES WOULD HAVE TO BE CLEANED. AFTER THE DRAIN TUBES WERE CLEANED, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED WATER HAD BUILT UP IN THE SIDE PANELS AND REAR CARGO AREA. THE WATER WAS DRAINED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY TEN DIFFERENT TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THE MOISTURE IN THE VEHICLES COMPUTER WAS CAUSING ELECTRICAL FAILURES. WHILE PARKED, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN AFTER THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

THERE IS A WATER LEAK COMING FROM THE ROOF AREA AFTER A RAIN WITH VEHICLE PARKED OUTSIDE. MOST OF IT IS COMING DOWN NEAR THE DOME LIGHTS UPON STOPPING FROM FORWARD MOTION. IT CAUSES WATER TO GO INTO THE DASH AND ELECTRONICS PANEL AND ONTO DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER. SUNROOF SEAL WAS REPLACED BY DEALER WITH NO RESULT. I RETURNED IT TO DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND REPAIR. MAJOR HIDDEN WATER DAMAGE SUSPECTED. DEALER SAYS THEY CANNOT GET MFG INVOLVED AT THIS TIME. I REQUESTED A REPLACEMENT AND WAS TOLD IT COULD NOT BE DONE WITHOUT A TRADE UP FOR MORE MONEY. *TR

THE CONTACT IS UNABLE TO SEE ONCOMING TRAFFIC THROUGH THE SIDE MIRROR AND THE NOISE IS UNBEARABLE. HEADLINER IS LOOSE IN MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT. SLAPS VIOLENTLY AGAINST ROOF. NOISE IS SO LOUD, IT SOUNDS LIKE A HELICOPTER (NO EXAGGERATION). THIS HAPPENS WHEN A WINDOW IS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. TO AN UNSUSPECTING DRIVER, THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT SCARED ME THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. MY SIX YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AS I WAS TAKING HER FOR HER FIRST RIDE IN MY BRAND NEW CAR, SHE PUT THE BACK WINDOW DOWN AND THIS LOUD HELICOPTER NOISE CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. I LITERALLY JUMP IN MY SEAT AS I WAS DRIVING. I COULD HAVE VERY EASILY WRECKED THE CAR FROM THE SCARE OF THE SUDDEN NOISE OVERHEAD. THIS IS ALSO POTENTIALLY DAMAGING TO YOUR EARS (IT IS THAT LOUD). CHRYSLER / JEEP REFUSES TO FIX IT BECAUSE ALL 2008 JEEP PATRIOTS HAVE THE "SAME DESIGN FLAW" (YES THEY ADMIT IT). I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE BBB (CHRYSLER DOESN'T AGREE TO ARBITRATION WITH THE BBB), THE ATTORNEY GENERAL (OHIO AND MICHIGAN), AND EVEN CONTACTED AN ATTORNEY. I AM BEING TOLD THAT SINCE CHRYSLER REFUSES TO EVEN MAKE AN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR IT, THAT IT DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR THE LEMON LAW. I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM TO MY FATHER OVER THE PHONE, THEN TOOK HIM FOR A RIDE IN IT SEVERAL WEEKS LATER TO DEMONSTRATE. MY FATHER COULDN'T IMAGINE THAT IT COULD BE THAT BAD NO MATTER HOW I TRIED TO WORD IT. AFTER THE DEMONSTRATION MY FATHER WAS IN TOTAL SHOCK AND DISBELIEF. HE EVEN COMPLAINED THAT IT HURT HIS EARS AFTER JUST A FEW SECONDS OF RIDING IN THE CAR. MY POINT IS, YOU HAVE TO SEE/HEAR IT TO FULLY APPRECIATE THE SEVERITY. I AM WILLING TO TAKE ANYONE FOR A RIDE IN THE VEHICLE TO DEMONSTRATE THE PROBLEM. I'VE OWNED THE CAR SINCE APRIL AND HAVE ONLY DRIVEN IT FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS. *TR
