JUST OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY MY WIFE'S 2007 PATRIOT 2.4L STARTED TO FAIL TO START. IT WAS VERIFIED THAT IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY, PCV VALVE, STARTER, OR A FUEL ISSUE. IT WOULD SIMPLY NOT START WHEN LEFT IN THE SUN (IN SUCH AS A PARKING LOT). ALL OF THE ACCESSORIES WORKED. IT WAS TOWED TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS. NO ONE COULD FIGURE IT OUT. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND RECEIVED A COMPLAINT NUMBER. CHRYSLER REIMBURSED ME FOR THE THINGS THE DEALERSHIPS CHARGED ME TO REPLACE AND EVENTUALLY SAID THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT AND COULDN'T FIX THE CAR. THE SHOCKS ALSO FAILED PREMATURELY AT 40 THOUSAND MILES, AND THE CV JOINTS ARE SEALED UNITS AND FAILED PREMATURELY. OVERALL I AM VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THIS CAR AND CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE.

LOWER ARM/BALL JOINT NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT 19K MILES AND 26K MILES. NEW TIRE WORE OUT IN 7K MILES DUE TO POOR DESIGN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND CANADA REQUIRES JEEP TO REPLACE IT AT THEIR EXPENSE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP PATRIOT FWD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR INSPECTION BY THE DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TIRE RODS AND BALL JOINTS WERE FAILING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO KNOWN RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP PATRIOT FWD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH SHE HEARD A LOUD NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOWER DRIVER'S SIDE ARM WAS LOOSE AND AS A RESULT, THE ARM, TIRES AND WHEEL BARRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE LOUD NOISE SHE HEARD WAS DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE TRADED THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 07/17/12. *JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THE BALL JOINTS FAILED AND THE FRONT WHEELS STARTED SHAKING DUE TO THE FAILURE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED ON A LIFT TO BE INSPECTED THE BALL JOINTS ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FELL OFF. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,716.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP PATRIOT FWD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS VIOLENTLY SHAKING AND WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED A TURN, SHE HEARD A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BALL JOINTS AND CONTROL ARMS ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS WERE DEFECTIVE AND PERFORMED THE REPAIRS. THE DEALER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,334 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,300. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND MOST RECENTLY, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE BALL JOINT WOULD ALSO NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECURRING FAILURE BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 55,000.

I TOOK MY JEEP PATRIOT IN FOR A POSSIBLE ALIGNMENT ISSUE TO FIND THAT FRONT BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND MY TIRES WERE WORN DOWN TO THE WIRE. THESE TIRES WERE NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD AND BACK TIRES STILL LOOK BRAND NEW. THE TIRE SHOP SAID THAT THIS WAS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE AND SUGGESTED IT TO BE TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGED THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE JEEP, BUT A NON DEALERSHIP MECHANIC TOLD US THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAPPEN TO A VEHICLE ONLY 4 YEARS OLD WITH 65,000 MILES. IT ANGERS ME THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL BECAUSE IF I WOULD HAVE LOST A TIRE THE WRECK COULD BE DEADLY. THIS IS A COMMON JEEP PROBLEM FOUND ON ALMOST ALL JEEP FORUMS ONLINE. *TR

I AM EXPERIENCING SHAKING IN MY STEERING (JEEP PATRIOT 2007) I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY CONTROL ARM. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM THAT JEEP NEEDS TO ADDRESS.I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ALIGNMENTS AND TIRE REPLACEMENTS AND THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO HELP NOW I AM GREATLY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY. TOOK MY 2007 JEEP PATRIOT IN FOR A OIL CHANGE, WAS TOLD THAT THE TIE ROD'S WERE VERY LOSE. THE MECHANIC DID NOT WANT ME TO DRIVE IT HOME FOR FEAR OF THE TIE RODS BREAKING LOSE AND CAUSING ME TO CRASH. MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND I DID NOT HAVE THE 700.00 TO FIX IT. 2007 JEEP PATRIOT FWD - DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE THEY STATED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT WAS SHOWING WEAR AND WOULD NEED REPLACED SOON. VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD, NOT TAKEN "OFF ROADING" AND ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE SEARCHED AND NOTED NUMEROUS OTHERS STATING THE SAME EXACT ISSUES WITH THE SAME EXACT MODEL. WHERE IS THE RECALL??? OF COURSE THE DEALER SAYS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 3 MONTHS. YOU ALSO CAN'T JUST REPLACE THE BALL JOINT YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE CONTROL ARM AS ITS AN ASSEMBLY - AND YOU HAVE TO REPLACE BOTH SIDES AT THE SAME TIME - HOLY MONEY PIT-! *TR

LOWER BALL JOINT FAILURE ON BOTH SIDES OF MY 2007 JEEP PATRIOT AT 32K MILES.. ONLY 6 WEEKS OUT OF THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY. IT WAS NOT EVEN SAFE TO DRIVE. CHRYSLER WILL DO A GOOD WILL ASSISTANCE ON THIS $1,200 REPAIR BY CHARGING ME ONLY $250 SINCE IT WAS OFFICIALLY OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAD NO CHOICE AS THE CAR HAD TO BE REPAIRED. BUT IN MY OPINION, THEY ARE ADMITTING AN ISSUE OR THEY WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME NOTHING. THIS IS MY SECOND JEEP THAT HAS EXPERIENCED BALL JOINT FAILURE A VERY EARLY MILEAGE. MY OTHER JEEP, A LIBERTY, HAD A RECALL . CHRYSLER ADVISES THEY DO NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THE PATRIOT FOR THIS ISSUE. SOMEONE SHOULD BE LOOKING AT THIS PROBLEM. JEEP 2007, STANDARD. DURING AN OIL CHANGE TOLD CONTROL ARMS AND FRONT BALL JOINTS WORN , WILL NEED TO REPLACE THEM! HAVE 47,000 MILES ON THE JEEP; AM A CONSERVATIVE DRIVER. TIRES ARE WORN; HAVE ALWAYS PULLED TO THE SIDE. SHIFTING IS HORRIBLE; SLIPS INTO OTHER GEARS. THIS SUV IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE.
