I reached out to the dealer about another issue with my radio by phone they helped with that situation later that day I received a text telling me about vehicle recalls. I called and made an appointment. They repaired part of the issue but had to order parts for the rest. I took my vehicle back the only light in the dash that stays on is the tire pressure light. When my son and I went to pick it back up we noticed the light on when I asked about it I was told the tech would talk to me but was gone for the day. He Jacob reached out the next day and told me it would need further inspection. I finally got in touch with a manager Mark he said the part broke when they attempted repair and this was due to the age of the car. I told him it was no issues before they touched it and I would like it fixed he told me to bring it in and they would inspect free of charge next thing I know he called and told me I was responsible for repairs. I'm not happy and don't/didn't know what to do therefore I'm reaching out here.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, the passenger’s side active headrest had deployed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the two plastic clips used to hold the headrest in place were fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V282000 (Electrical System, Air Bags), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 16,000. The VIN was not available.

i have sent in my jeep patriot in few years ago for recall that has to do with airbags issue. jeep patriot just reached 10 year old and now i am getting air bag light every time i turn my steering wheel while parked and while driving it keeps dining every min or less. i was told it may be clock spring in steering wheel and i believe i should not have to replace it being 165xxx miles and just hit 10 year mark. i have been replacing many other parts knowing its part of wear and tear but having to replace clock spring on not so old cars is very concerning for our safety when it comes to jeep my jeep is 2014 and has been well taken care of. i am upset finding there are recalls for wrangler for clock spring but none for patriot. please get back with me with possible fix for this. i know jeep is one of best vehicles to have and i am starting to be worried if this going to be a common problems for jeep.

My driver and passenger headrest deployed for no reason. They deployed at separate times. It is a safety concern because I am not able to position my neck properly when driving. Due to the head rest being deployed my head is positioned forward making it difficult to see my surroudings. Had I not been parked when my driver side headrest deployed, I stronly believe that it could have caused an accident. I am not able to fix this issue on my own due to the actual pieces that would allow you to reset the head rest are broken.

The active head restraint on the passenger side spontaneously deployed while parked. There was no impact leading up to this event. The head restraint appears to have failed due to a faulty plastic clip that split in half. The head restraint is at the height of my passenger's head and, if they had been seated in the chair, the deployed headrest would have hit them at the base of the skull or delivered a blow to the left or right cheekbone and eye. I took the vehicle to my nearest Jeep dealership (Rhythm Jeep in Madison, TN) and they confirmed that the clip holding the release pin in place spontaneously failed. They documented the damage and ordered a new headrest which has not yet been fulfilled (a 9-month wait so far). There were no warning signals or any other indication that the head restraint would fail. Our concern is that the driver's side head restraint will also fail and cause the driver to crash the vehicle or suffer head and neck injury.

I PULLED UP IN FRONT OF A STORE TO LOAD SOME THINGS INTO MY CAR. THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND LEFT RUNNING. IT ONLY TOOK A FEW MINUTES TO LOAD THE CAR. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT, I NOTICED MY HEADREST HAD POPPED OPEN. I LOOKED IT UP ON MY PHONE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT (AHR) HAD BEEN ACTIVATED. DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS, I DROVE STRAIGHT HOME AND DIDN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN UNTIL I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY NIGHT. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY. I AM THANKFUL THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING - IT COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINTS (AHR) WERE TRIGGERED IN JULY 2018 WITHOUT MY CAR SUFFERING AN IMPACT. IN BOTH CASES, THE CAR WAS PARKED LIKE USUAL AT MY HOUSE OVERNIGHT AND I FOUND THE HEADRESTS TRIGGERED IN THE MORNING. I HAVE NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENTS, THERE IS NO IMPACT DAMAGE, AND THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION WHEN THEY TRIGGERED. I WAS UNABLE TO RESET THEM PER THE MANUAL, SO I BROUGHT IT TO MY JEEP DEALERSHIP ON AUGUST 8TH AND MY SERVICE REP SAID HE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG. HE LATER CALLED TO QUOTE ME ABOUT $1,400 TO REPLACE BOTH HEADRESTS AND HE TOLD ME I WOULD PROBABLY WANT TO SKIP REPLACING THEM; TO KEEP THEM AS-IS TO AVOID THE COSTS. AT NO TIME WAS IT EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY FEATURE WITH A BROKEN PIECE. WHEN I SEARCHED ONLINE FOR REPLACEMENT HEADRESTS, I WAS ABLE TO LEARN THAT THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE THAT MALFUNCTIONED AND HAS AFFECTED OTHER DRIVERS. THIS MALFUNCTION POSES A RISK TO DRIVERS IF IT HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION (I WAS LUCKY). A SMALL PIECE IN THE HEADREST IS ALSO BREAKING, PREVENTING THE RESTRAINTS FROM BEING RESET AND COSTING OWNERS THE HIGH PRICE OF REPLACING THE HEADRESTS. I, LIKE MANY, AM NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR THIS LARGE COST, WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED BY JEEP GIVEN ITS SERIOUSNESS AND FREQUENCY. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THAT MY JEEP DEALERSHIP ACTUALLY SUGGESTED THAT I KEEP MY HEADRESTS AS THEY ARE, ALLOWING ME TO CONTINUE DRIVING WITH THIS SAFETY RESTRAINT ACTIVATED, WHICH CAN DO MORE HARM SHOULD I BE IN AN ACCIDENT. THEY ALSO FAILED TO EXPLAIN OR PROPERLY EDUCATE ME ABOUT THE AHR'S AND THE REASON THEY COULD NOT BE RESET. THEIR OMISSION OF THESE FACTS COUPLED WITH THE SAFETY CONCERNS REGARDING THIS SAFETY FEATURE MALFUNCTION CAN PUT OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK.

TAKATA RECALL I TOOK MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT INTO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER FOR REPAIR OF THE S61 TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP BEING REPAIRED, THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THE NEWLY INSTALLED PART MALFUNCTIONED AND THOUGHT THE CAR HAD ROLLED OVER, AND DEPLOYED ALL AIRBAGS IN THE CAR. THIS DESTROYED THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR, INCLUDING THE ROOF, SEATS, FRONT CONSOLE, STEERING WHEEL, AND SEAT BELTS. THE MANAGER MENTIONED THEY WOULD FIX THE DAMAGE. HOWEVER, THE CAR WAS SUBMITTED FOR THE REPAIR ON APRIL 12, 2018, AND AS OF MAY 14, 2018 THEY HAVE NOT REMOVED THE OLD AIRBAGS, OR INSTALLED ANY NEW AIRBAGS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. IF THE NEWLY INSTALLED PART USED TO FIX THE RECALL HAD MALFUNCTIONED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN USE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL IF AND WHEN THE PART WAS GOING TO MALFUNCTION. I NOW HAVE MY CONCERNS REGARDING THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE, THE RELIABILITY OF THE RECALLED PART, AND THE SAFETY OF ANY NEWLY INSTALLED TAKATA AIRBAGS. THERE IS PROFESSIONAL NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE JEEP SERVICE CENTER FOR NOT REPAIRING THEIR ERROR FOR GREATER THAN 5 WEEKS AFTER THE DAMAGED OCCURRED, FOR REDUCING THE VALUE OF MY CAR, AND FOR USING FAULTY EQUIPMENT IN THEIR REPAIR. THERE IS ALSO PROFESSIONAL NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE TAKATA AIRBAG COMPANY FOR PROVIDING A FAULTY AIRBAG AND FAULTY REPAIR PART FOR THE S61 RECALL. THIS NEGLIGENCE COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL.

ON THE MORNING OF 4/1/18 I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT WHEN MY CAR LOST CONTROL AND HIT A TREE GOING BETWEEN 20-30MPH. IT WAS A HEAD ON COLLISION WHERE MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND MY SEAT BELT DID NOT TENSE DURING OR AFTER THE COLLISION. AS SUCH, I RECEIVED A LARGE LACERATION TO MY FOREHEAD WHEN IT HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I WAS MAKING A SLIGHT LEFT THROUGH AN INTERSECTION NEAR A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND THE ROAD WAS SLICK FROM A SLIGHT RAIN THAT WAS HAPPENING. I HAD SKIDDED OUT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND BEFORE I KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING I WAS COLLIDING WITH THE TREE IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WERE NO OTHER PARTIES INVOLVED.

SHE STATED THEY COULD NOT GET THE PART AND THAT THE PART WAS BEING 'RATIONED OUT.' THIS WENT ON OVER A PERIOD OF ABOUT THREE WEEKS. UPON CONTACTING ANOTHER AREA DEALERSHIP (WEEKS IN WEST FRANKFORT) THEY HAD THE PART IN TWO DAYS AND PERFORMED THE RECALL REPAIR THE NEXT DAY. TAKATA RECALL- I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON 10/13/16. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND WHEN I WENT AROUND A TURN IT SEEMED LIKE MY BRAKES WERE LOCKING UP OR SOMETHING, I STARTED SWERVING AROUND ON THE HIGHWAY AND I EVENTUALLY LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE AND ENDED UP ROLLING THE VEHICLE TWICE BEFORE LANDING DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. MY CAR WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. I ESTIMATE THAT I WAS GOING AT A RATE OF AROUND 45-50 MILES PER HOUR. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF. AT A HIGH SPEED IMPACT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF. I SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES, AND I STILL HAVE PAIN IN BOTH MY KNEES.

THE JEEP DOES HAVE SEAT-MOUNTED SIDE AIR BAGS AND FROM READING THE FACTORY USER GUIDE IT STATES THAT THIS VEHICLE MAY BE EQUIPPED WITH SUPPLEMENTAL SEAT-MOUNTED SIDE AIR BAGS TO PROVIDE ENHANCED PROTECTION TO HELP PROTECT AN OCCUPANT DURING A SIDE IMPACT. RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON 11/15/16. REPAIR SHOP WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASED ADVISED THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST. CONTACTED THEFCA RECALL CENTER FOR THE MANUFACTURER, WHO ADVISED THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR FOR 90 DAYS PENDING THEIR DETERMINATION OF REPAIR PROCESS FOR ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. 3 MONTHS IS NOT A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO REPAIR SAFETY FEATURES ON A VEHICLE THAT MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IS DRIVING. COMPANY SHOULD FIX TIMELY OR PAY FOR RENTAL OR PROVIDE ANOTHER VEHICLE TO DRIVE UNTIL THEY CAN REPAIR IT. THESE KNOWN DEFECTS IN PRIMARY SAFETY FEATURES AND INEFFICIENCIES TO REPAIR ARE UNACCEPTABLE AND PUTS LIVES IN JEOPARDY. SAFETY FEATURES COULD FAIL AND PEOPLE KILLED BY THE TIME THESE ISSUES ARE FIXED. THE SECRETARY SHOULD IMPOSE IMMEDIATE REMEDY REQUIREMENTS.

THE JEEP WAS PUSHED AND SPUN 90 DEGREES FROM THE IMPACT OF THE COLLISION, WE WERE TOSSED AROUND VIOLENTLY IN OUR SEATS, WITH THE PASSENGER OBTAINING CONTUSIONS AND ABRASIONS TO HER ARM CLOSEST TO THE IMPACT SITE. SHE HAD ALSO BANGED HER HEAD AGAINST THE WINDOW AND STRAINED HER NECK FROM THE IMPACT, ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE JEEP. AND FINALLY, HAD STRAINED THE MUSCLES IN HER LOWER BACK FROM GETTING THRUST AT THE DIRECTION OF THE IMPACT SITE. THE DRIVER HAD SUFFERED AN IMPACT ABRASION TO HIS LEFT ARM, LEAVING AN IMPRINT OF THE SEAT BELT MATERIAL INTO HIS SKIN. HE HAD ALSO SUFFERED MUSCLE STRAINS AND LOWER BACK STRAINS FROM THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT. AGAIN, WHILE BEING HIT FROM A VEHICLE GOING 45 MPH, AND LEAVING DAMAGE THAT HAD LITERALLY STARTED TO FOLD THE VEHICLE AT THE MIDPOINT, AND COLLAPSED THE WHEEL AND AXLE, NOT A SINGLE AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED IN THIS VEHICLE.
